Introduction Renji Bunraku [known as “Ningyōtsukai” outside of rap battles] is a professional dancer and NSDS veteran, under the now solo dance project “ENGEKI”. The culprit behind Mai’s gender transformation, his nature lies within being a romantic’s heartthrob to appease his hyper sexual and infatuated fans.

Renji is a statured man with a voluptuous figure. He has navy blue serrated hair, violet eyes and a slightly darker complexion. He wears a black dress shirt underneath a maroon tailored jacket. Introduction Itsuki Kamora is the former head of the Kamora family and one of Chuohku’s falsely convicted prisoners. Being randomly accused for aggravated assault and difficult behaviour, instead he was arrested by Chuohku in order to “get closer” to his youngest son.

Itsuki is an old man below average height with an ectomorph figure. He has dirty blond hair and stormy grey eyes with minimal bags under them, mostly due from either deprived sleep or overexertion. He wears a charcoal grey police uniform included with protective pads and gold details. His lower body is covered with black pants and brown shoes. For accessories, he wears a pair of black protective gloves. He’s usually seen holding a cigar in his right hand. This behaviour allowed him to become favourited among steward families and make his own a priority for Fukuoka. His retelling of classic Irish folktale is what shaped Yuno to become a writer in the 1st place, despite their different styles. His interior reflects his persona after his imprisonment. His desire to be one with his family is so strong, initiating himself as apart of KryPtos and GEN is enough to satisfy him since he’s doing Chuohku a favour in bringing their demise closer. Even so, his once kindly outlook still remains in the depths of his heart underneath this state. The End Of The Beginning — Vol 3 [Yuno/Zaria] —————————————————————————————————————— [YEAR XXXX] —————————————————————————————————————— — Kamora Residence, Living Room — [Prancing about the living area without a care in the world, Yuno, Shu and Zaria all laughed contagiously while linking arms with one another.] [Dressed in white sleeping robes, the 3s merriment attracted the slow footsteps of their grandparents while their parents followed close behind…] Wataru: What’s all this gaiety in here? Lady Aine must take a liking to you… [His wife Haori laughs, her voice soft as she intertwines her hand tightly inside his own.] Haori: Lady Aine has blessed this house many times. We must be grateful for her presence, fear ceile! [Her daughter —the siblings mother— Kiyomi emerges with a smile, her golden eyes lingering on each of the children. Unbeknownst to any of them, Itsuki approaches from the rear, twirls her around and pauses in a dip position. Zaria: We have yet to encounter the resolution, please tell us! [Itsuki pats both of their heads, his gaze falling on Yuno.] Yuno: I want to visit the land of youth again, father… [The 3 nestled into their fathers embrace as he begins to recount the tale, gesturing with his hands and swaying his body…] Itsuki: It all began with an otherworldly woman, an Irish man and a land unlike no other…

First her fathers conviction, the families backlash and her own lack of justice to change the world as soon as possible…] [Now? Her youngest brother was captured and hostage of their own balderdash government!] Zaria: Justice truly is blind after all… [The advocate glanced up at the door to her office, a visible figure standing in the doorway and asking for permission to come inside. A client, Zaria was always content with them no matter the circumstances.] Figure: I’ve come for protection, I hope I’m not wasting your time here… Zaria: Of course not, have a seat and let’s do business. [While the door closed from behind, both began to take turns in conversation, unbeknownst how much time continued to pass. After about 2-3 hours, they decided to wrap up with a few closing questions…] Zaria: So you are a survivor of the clones? Were they contracted to execute you? Figure: Correct, I barely escaped with my life. Prime Minister Totohen ordered them after my refusal to surrender to their wretched experiments… [Zaria winced, wondering how Yuno was holding out against Chuohku right now.] Zaria: We’re you imprisoned by chance? If what you speak is right, you would have been about to be utilized for the True Hypnosis Mic? Figure: I speak the truth… Figure: My wish is for them to fall and never rise again. Zaria: I understand, thank you for seeing me. [The figure bids her farewell and she was once again left alone in her office. Getting an idea, she pulls out a match from her pocket and sets it alight against the desk…] Zaria: By the power infested in me…I, Zaria Kamora will do my absolute best to care for you, Yuno! [Zaria slams her right fist on the table hard, signifying a gavels motion to finalize a verdict.]

Usugurai

As with every hero, an enemy is always lurking behind them. With the uprising of Traffic Light and Eko’s rebellion against Lyte, Kira Yaku and Tadashi Nakama knew enough was enough to let their underclassman increase in popularity over them. Without Lyte’s knowledge, the 2 came together under the facade of an idol collaboration. While this was partially true, their real intentions lie elsewhere. Utilizing their shared idol intelligence, both unexpectedly transformed themselves into different individuals unlike their recognizable counterparts… After the agency had uncovered their secret, instead they only encouraged their operation, to their own surprise. Introduction Tadashi Nakama [known as “Charlatan” outside of rap battles] is an idol radio personality and agency representative of Lyte, under the collab unit Usugurai with Kira Yaku. The other idol behind Eko’s freelance transfer, he takes pride in his work and doesn’t mind slowly jeopardizing other idols just to come out on top.

Tadashi is a lean man with an upright figure. He has forest green hair in a girlish style, beady red eyes and black half framed glasses. Introduction Kira Yaku [known as “Lorelei” outside of rap battles] is an idol turned model and agency representative of Lyte, under the collab unit Usugurai with Tadashi Nakama. One of the idols behind Eko’s freelance transfer, she values her status and proceeds to crush anyone beneath her level of fame to protect her image.

Kira is a young woman with an hourglass figure. She has dark pink hair tied in a high ponytail, piercing green eyes and olive skin. She wears a dark red and black corset with rose details and lining. Division Discourse [OverDrive Edition] Welcome to the 1st edition of Division Discourse, fellow HYPSTERS! It only makes sense to begin with the main trio and former members of Traffic Light after all, so let’s get into it! [WARNING — This is going to be LONG, brace yourselves] —————————————————————————————————————

Early Creative Process Before I became apart of the Hypmic OC community [and got into HYPNOSIS MICROPHONE], I was obsessed with idol music franchises around this time [such as Project SEKAI, Ensemble Stars and so on.] Because of this, I had the amazing idea to create my own idol project. One of the established units, #PlugIn, had a technological style and was considered an electronic band. This lead to some similarities between both groups [including the same theme colour, motive to become something new and “technical” appearance…]

Division Continuing on with the fan project, I originally thought of each unit living in a distinct city of Japan. To no surprise, I chose Fukuoka for #PlugIn. Nowadays I understand somewhat of what the city reflects in division terms, but it boiled down to my past self thinking the city was some sort of “technology based hub”. Currently, this mindset still sticks to this day despite knowing what it truly is like in reality. So, I guess I think it’s more about showing my vision of what Fukuoka appears as that is a reason on why my team is a little different in my opinion.

Etymology OverDrive’s name derives from the term “Overdrive”, which has many definitions — “A gear in a motor vehicle providing a gear ratio higher than that of direct drive” or “give an electric guitar a distorted sound” are a couple examples. For the sake of the team, I chose “drive or work to exhaustion”. In order to reach their original goal of overthrowing Chuohku, they had to work themselves tirelessly to harness the power of their mic’s and prepare themselves for the DRB to get closer to them. Now with their change of plans, they still are working harder to move forward and force a secret revolution against them and those who wronged them before. Overall, their “drive” is insanely powerful and no better name could resonate with their background they’ve built ever since they debuted.

Symbolism Hear me out, I can’t get enough with symbolism surrounding my characters. These guys? No exception whatsoever! Theme Colour — Electric Blue When deciding a colour, electricity was my first thought when I got up to the main premise of the team. Going with the whole “lighting struck twice” schtick, I sought out blue to be a very lightning based colour. Along the way, I also figured out Eko’s Traffic Light colour was the same, hinting that all 3 members “GO” after their ambitions opposed to “STOP” or “SLOW”. Symbol — Music Note Put simply, this classic musical symbol easily represents their involvement in the art of music surrounding their lives. Of course, this also connects to utilizing it to create and make change within their world [Traffic Light/OverDrive]. Hand Sign — Downward Facing Palm I found out in the early days the gesture was a signal for dominance, which spells out the teams motif more than ever. A little deeper in, I wasn’t expecting it to be a signal of power and utmost authority — but here we are! Group Character Development Fast forward to my entrance in the Hypmic OC community, I tended to only give a taste for what was on the outside of the 3 of them [I was excited to join the community at first, which is still a factor of my frequent posting even today.] In their debut season, they were presented as a rebellious group of individuals who wanted to reach their ambitions faster than anyone else in the DRB, often resulting in slightly distrusting other divisions [this is evident in their division reviews and birthday events], their heavy desire to represent Fukuoka [as feeling threatened by MIHANASA, Fukuoka’s original rap team — Belongs to @veryalpacawerewolf] and other shenanigans.

— Individual Character Development — Around this time, I’ve become a fledged fan of HYPNOSIS MICROPHONE. Understanding the characters and teams, blasting my favourite songs on my playlist [and any other sort of chaos a Hypmic fan can experience.] Of course, I had to check out the anime for some sort of story and out of pure curiosity. Personally? It still slaps to this day. After checking out the 1st season, I knew if I didn’t create some OC’S of my own, I was going to regret it for the rest of my life…

Eko Seishin Whilst immersing myself in Rhyme Anima’s 1st season, Matenrou was my favourite team from beginning to end. Since this was my “placing fandom OC in canon storyline” phase…Meet the 4th former member of Matenrou ladies and gents! In the early days, Eko was actually a well known DJ prior to the DRB. Having a decent relationship with Hifumi and visiting his club often, he became acquainted with Doppo after a few encounters and acted like a 2nd Hifumi to him. Meeting Jakurai and joining the 3 on their mission with Hifumi’s stalker, he became the 4th member of Shinjuku’s rap team. In OverDrive’s debut season, he turned out to be quite a smug character. I thought of him being the classic “no more Mr. Nice guy” archetype, so his interactions with others were made as clever and cunning as I could possibly get him to be [it was funny since I was only playing around with him…] Now, he’s still the same guy, plus becoming more dedicated with his team. More recently, I’ve associated some inspiration from K-Pop onto his idol profession [be it the way he dresses, I don’t know why leather jackets were so intriguing] and making him shoot for the stars to reach his targets.

Mai Yousei [Fun fact, both Mai and Yuno were created consecutively after each other while Eko stands as the 1st HYPNOSIS MICROPHONE OC I’ve made]. After watching the anime and developing the teams premise, Jakurai holds the title as my favourite character out of the cast. I also finished OverDrive’s escape from Chuohku to Fukuoka, and Shinjuku was the 1st stop out of Tokyo. In the early days, Mai was conceived with their dancing title and viewed her teammates as older brother figures. Hence, they didn’t get much of their own development as a stand alone character at the time…However, Mai replaced Eko in being constant allies with Matenrou [this was around Traffic Lights escape in “Death By Microphone”, Eko became more acquainted to M.T.C] In OverDrive’s debut season, Mai was easily the rebellious player [and finally got some development!] I knew I needed someone to act as a catalyst in the team, so they were the best choice due to their “2nd member status” I’ll call it. Aside that, they were the optimist of the group and kept the teams spirit going [which makes sense for their positive character archetype]. Now, they’ve changed quite a bit as time flew. Making a name for themselves as Shade and trying to re-emerge from their sexual past, K-Pop was also incorporated into their character because of it’s insane dancing style [varsity jackets were also considered cool to me] and them coming to terms that gender doesn’t decide who they are meant to be.

Yuno Kamora Near the same time of Mai’s creation, I got into Ensemble Stars alongside Project SEKAI. One character in particular, Yuzuru Fushimi [character belongs to Happy Elements], caught my eye with his butler physique. I thought to myself “If I don’t make myself a butler inspired character, that is going to follow me to the grave.” As you would expect, we got ourselves a butler… In the early days, Yuno was well mannered and was known for his status in his family, becoming extremely liked by Fukuoka’s locals [up until his fathers false arrest]. He acted as a similar brotherly figure to his teammates, being protective over Mai and supportive of Eko. Thus, he was pretty much a blank slate this far in his creation. In OverDrive’s debut season, let’s say he was super against criminals and injustice! Tying the knot between his fathers arrest and Chuohku’s lineup of wanted inmates that roam the DRB, somebody was going to have to do something about it. So, why not take matters into his own 2 hands? How hard could it be!? [I also felt like stirring up some fun in universe community drama, so he was the perfect fit in that department]… Now, Yuno’s character can be described as “a villain who doesn’t fight for evil and making his own mark on the world are both challenges that, despite their differences, are equal even in the eyes of an immortal.” He’s become more wary of the world around him and doesn’t jump to conclusions as fast like he used to. With most too focused on rumours and speculation, not even the most frequent clients are sure what exactly caused the problem to occur… None of the Kamora siblings were going to let this stand. Aside from the families downfall, they were all enraged at what started the predicament — Their father’s false conviction. — Yousei Residence, Fukuoka Division — Despite a cold winter evening blanketing their home division, Fukuoka materialized into its usual form once night began to fall; a city replaced with excitement and anticipation, in contrast to its cultural and touristic appearance in daylight. Resting on the sofa to conclude another birthday, Mai sighed softly as they taken in their surroundings around the living room. The bouquet of flame lilies from Eko stood proud in a small vase on the coffee table, the tints of red and yellow reflecting off the dim lamplight. On an end table lay the package of Omikuji strips from Yuno, unopened and sealed with utmost care. They smiled at their teammates efforts, wishing they could’ve done something more to thank them…Though as with any sort of gift giving, they knew well enough neither of them would have it. However…Was their birthday just as eventful? Mai’s gaze fell as they pondered the question deeply. It felt odd. They enjoyed spending time with their father, praying for their Mother to be with them and receiving gifts from their teammates…But even so, something still appeared missing. Something they couldn’t place their finger on… Unexpectedly, a firm knock at the door snapped them out of their trance. Their father was working later and Eko and Yuno were bound to be asleep at this time. Stretching and taking a deep breath, Mai approached and slid the door open, revealing someone surprising on the other side of the door…

Standing before them was Jakurai, wearing his trademark turtleneck and holding a miniature package in his hands. Upon noticing them, his lips curled into a smile as he pushed a strand of his hair behind his shoulder, the wintry chill causing him to shudder. “Happy birthday, Mai-san. I apologize for the late arrival…May I come inside?” The doctor asks, bowing his head in apology. Mai nods in agreement, closing the door before the remnants of the cold could enter their humble abode. Mai seated themselves on the sofa once more as Jakurai set the package on the coffee table, sitting aside them afterward and placing his hands in his lap. A silence bubbles between them, although it breaks as he turns to them and speaks again… “How have you been? The time has come and gone since we’ve spoken to each other last, is everything alright…?” He asks, his voice gentle and concerning. “Getting there, thanks for asking Doc…” Mai smiles, a hint of curiosity in their face. “…What brings you all the way here? Isn’t it busy down in Shinjuku?” They questioned, receiving a chuckle from him and placing a hand in their own. “Today was surprisingly smooth sailing…I planned my visit beforehand, so I am not missing anything in particular.” Jakurai assures them, their shoulders relaxing at his words. “It is only appropriate if I give you this, it would be foolish if I didn’t bestow you with something…” Mai watches him take the package off the table and into his hands, it’s contents beckoning them to open it.

“Go on, I hope you enjoy it.” “Are you sure…?” “Trust me.” Mai’s fingers trembled as they unraveled the box and pulled out a surprise that caused them to gape… It was a framed picture of their first encounter in Shinjuku, though their eyes wandered to the black Victorian dress they were wearing at the time. Black dress… “They all wanted to meet you personally. Do not fret with our…entrance, it’s only to make you feel welcome.” Traitor… “I understand, my love. However…You are ours now and only ours. Oh, how long have I been searching for the perfect lady, you seem to fit the exact description I was hoping to attain…” No…! “Please…Please!” Mai begged as they awoke from the vision, returning to the surroundings of their residence as Jakurai had embraced them, his expression fearful… “It’s alright, I’m here my angel. Just take a few breaths with me, I’ve got you…” The doctor whispers, combing through their hair. No sound was heard except for their breathing, the silence almost unsettling.
