(a huge shoutout to my amoo for helping me w translations, although neither of us are poets so pls go easy on us)
fal-e hafez is a form of divination. if someone has a question/concern/struggle/etc. they will open a book of hafez's poetry to a random page. that poem will offer guidance and insight about the person's concern. this has been a common practice in iran for centuries and is often practiced during the holiday of yalda which is celebrated on the winter solstice ❣️
i thought it would be cute to combine these two forms of divination together! to keep it simple for the fortune teller i took the first couplet from a few of hafez's poems since there's not room for the whole thing

This isnt new or original at all but i gotta say some of my favorite characters are always those absolutely awful charismatic bastard villians who in fiction I enjoy but if I met in real live I would punt into the stars. Bonus points when they get their inevitable and extremely satisfying comeuppance and get their ass handed to them

had a dream I called the Danish emergency services (I was in Denmark) and they hung up on me :(
#was trying to tell them about leads i found in a murder#i also dreamed I had my hair cut and the hairdresser cut it way too long#(different dream)#also I kept biking to some church that doesn’t exist irl. not sure what i was doing there. going to concerts i think?#i am not religious never have been#was wearing my winter coat and a wool hat and embarrassed i was wearing that much so early in the year#even though it was cold as balls in the dream#also my bike had two really big lamps#but only one of them worked. or. so i assumed. didn’t actually try#OH and then i dreamed manda was recommended a random funny facebook post about one of my family members with like 900 likes#and sent it to me because it was funny also not realising it was my family member#creeped dream me out to hell and back#anyway big night for dreams idk why i’m using tumblr as my dream journal felt important#don’t usually dream this much/vividly/remember all of them at all#i did wake up in mis murder mystery dream though so maybe that’s why#oh yeah the murder mystery dream was like fucking. point and click video game format. i was walking around the apartment where the murder#happened just poking around shit until i found 3 leads which was my. goal? and then i called the police#and actually at first i accidentally called the swedish police. i forgot to put the danish country code in front of the number. so i hung up#on them and called the danish police instead#i’m not sure that’s how it actually works#like idk if you need the country code or if your phone will recognise what country you’re in i feel like it’s the latter#also the cell coverage was really bad so i heard like half of. what the emergency responder was saying#z talks#not horse game#sso spoilers#WILD FUCKING NIGHT IM GONNA GO BACK TO SLEEP NOW

today's prompts are spiders and self insert so i've been thinking of drawing nembone and a uh, bunger. but Im still thinking around the uh. ? i cant remember the word HELP the fucking COMPOSITION there.

istg i have never seen a supplement more misunderstood than melatonin, like folks straight up do NOT understand what it is, how it works, or what it’s good for....
#like it literally does not do what folks seem to believe it does#i just saw a post where the OP made a silly/goofy post - in the Little German Boy format#and the OP later did a funny reblog that said 'don't double up on your melatonin'#implying that... idk... that taking two doses is gunna make you crazy loopy and make you make Silly-Billy Tumblr Posts?#shut up#literally not how it works#melatonin is not a fucking sleeping pill y'all#stop acting like it's the equivalent of ambien#also STOP TAKING MELATONIN LONG TERM#like if your circadian rhythm is messed up you should take melatonin for a few weeks#to get things back on track - that's why it's so helpful for jet lag#it's a REGULATORY neurotransmitter#well it's neurotransmitter-adjacent at least#technically it's a hormone but whatevs#it REGULATES your circadian rhythm#you don't pop one and get totally crazy or weird or knocked out#whatever loopy effects you might have experienced are likely just placebo#you expect it to make you loopy cause that's what everyone says it does#so you perceive being loopy#and you need to take it in short stents#taking it long term can mess with your sleep cycle#also nightmares#there's some evidence of long-term melatonin usage (higher doses) being somewhat associated with increased frequency of nightmares#also other side effects can happen with long term usage#nausea vomiting poor sleep etc....#sorry i'm just venting#this is just... one of my pet peeves#there isn't even good evidence in the literature supporting melatonin for insomnia#it's honestly best for jet lag#and a few other specific sleep conditions involving disregulation of circadian rhythm

through a series of Wacky Hijinks(tm), i ended up on a livejournal post where someone basically details LiveJournal Social Etiquette (holy grail. to me), and it's actually really interesting to see just how much the concept of tumblr as like, a communal social space, and our modern ideas of "mutual"-hood, and just like, the deeply community-oriented netview (worldview but regarding the internet) of this website seems to echo the environment of lj in its heyday.
like, i've been doing research abt lj out of personal curiosity for quite a while now (if any of you were there, gandalf, pls tell me abt it), and at first it just seemed like such a foreign concept to me. what were the social rules? how did people congregate? how did they form, like, their webs?
but the more i uncover via (not-asking-people-directly-because-if-i-initiate-social-interaction-i-will-wither-into-a-prune) general internet spelunking, the more i've come to realize that like many aspects of humanity, the more things change, the more they will also remain the same. and i just think that's so terribly endearing
#one of the bullet points on this post is like. 'hey. do NOT do custom formatting in your comments just for aesthetics'#(i presume this is referring to using in-line css for formatting text in a comment; like making sure it shows up as a specific color)#but it also talks abt not using special fonts (i presume using unicode) n specifically says a lot of this stuff is ass for screen readers#n other stuff that you hear people discussing a lot here on THIS website n i'm like 'OH.
