how do you come up with such interesting composition? your pieces are always so captivating 💗

thank youuuuuuuuuu <33 and the truth is. idk. i am kinda just winging it and making a lot of adjustments as i go.... im not very orderly about it and have my thoughts kinda all over the place. heres some examples under the cut w what process pics i could find

direction process goes >>>

first did a pencil sketch for big shapes. was just placing stuff down. i wanted to make ref sheets for an art trade but didnt want to make a traditional type bc i hate drawing ppl standing full body (bc im bad at it 👍) also i did not have specific outfits in mind and was going more for a reference of the general vibe of the characters, so i just wanted a full body pose + face close up. to avoid having to show specific details. bc i was cheating. was originally going to have multiple text bubbles around for the character facts

did like two sketches digitally. messed around a LOT with placement. the little emote heads came out of me feeling like it was empty and boring on its own and they are fun to draw so why not include them. the multiple text bubbles seemed like a bad idea now so i took them out and just did one text wall.

i actually dont like the text wall now and think breaking it up wouldve been more fun visually but that would've required effort i didnt wanna put in LOL

^ i lost the pencil sketch for this one (i always do a pencil sketch) but it was actually just the two half body drawings at first with none of that shit at the bottom or the close ups until i was like fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk i gotta add smth around to make this look like theres stuff happening..... the idea was to draw the two main characters of the labb novel in some kinda comic format w panels around and i then. kept adding things until it seemed like i was getting somewhere. thats kind of my process for everything TT i think it helps to stay in a workshopping stage for longer if needed to get somewhere but i often get impatient LOL

im putting a stupid note abt this here bc im still annoyed at myself but in this novel, there was a bit about a crossword puzzle related to a murder case and i only thought of it afterwards that it would be kinda cool to put the sugar cubes in like a crossword puzzle formation....... why didnt i do that......

^ and heres some of the process for this one, but i lost a LOT of the steps for this. the beginning was totally different. the character wasnt as pathetic and scared looking at first but then i was like uhhhhh lets draw him that way :)

the first pencil draft was from a different perspective and it was gonna have a mirror composition to it kinda? but i wasn't able to make that look appealing so i deleted it. it still had the curtains tho but then i also included stuff with framed mirrors + other frames around

i decided to instead make the curtains be the focus of the whole piece to not make it so cluttered. character's pose was so different at first it was so bad i dont even wanna remember it. i took out the frames entirely bc i didnt think they added much to the piece in terms of the atmosphere. since like. the more i worked on it w the character's + the goat's expressions the more it gave a 'being hunted' feeling to it and portrait frames dont fit that vibe. which feels funny bc u look at it and thats all u can think abt but i wasnt even gunning for that when starting out. BE FLEXIBLE. TRUST THE PROCESS.

It seemed that you had been doomed ever since you’d woken up that day.

You had been having one of those days, where everything constantly seemed like too much. It was as if every bit of exhaustion you’d acquired throughout the past few weeks had finally built up enough to overflow, and you were feeling the full effects of it, all while attempting to move forward unbothered.

You didn’t want to talk, you didn’t want to have trekked through fucking woods and abandoned towns, and you didn’t want to put up with Bill and Frank for the weekend. Staying with them was usually viewed as an escape for you, freedom from the QZ and its demanding labor jobs, but the journey it took to get to their house and the engaging enthusiasm with which the couple usually met you and Tess was overwhelming at the very least.

You’d made it through most of the day. You were laying on the bed waiting for Tess to finish getting dressed, the two of you having taken a warm shower together almost immediately after arriving at Bill and Frank’s. It was the only chance the two of you ever got at hot water, water that wasn’t rationed.

“I think Frank’s making some new recipe from a cookbook he found,” Tess said, adjusting the sleeves of her burgundy button-up. “Hope it doesn’t taste like shit, the food here is the best we ever get.”

“If Frank’s cooking, it’ll be fine. It’s Bill we have to worry about,” you smiled.

(A/N: I don’t remember if we ever saw either Bill or Frank cooking sooo we’re just pretending that Bill is a shitty cook bc it’s funny and gay <3 )

“Remember the last time we were here and Bill tried to cook?” Tess asked, grinning. “He almost burned the house down and dropped a knife on Frank’s toes.”

You nodded, immersing yourself in the fondness of the memory. “And then Frank made us grilled cheese in apology.”

Tess sat down on the bed next to where you were laying, taking your hand in her own. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah, of course,” you replied. “Why?”

“You just seem a bit off today.”

You shook your head, sitting up. “I’m just tired. It’s always a long trip here, and after all the shit we’ve been putting up with in the QZ, I just want to relax.”

“We have all weekend,” she assured you, both of you moving off the bed. “Unless Bill has us help him with setting up more of his fucking traps again.”

You smiled softly, leading the two of you out of the guest bedroom, repeating to yourself like a mantra that all you needed to do was make it through dinner.

You had wanted to fucking murder him ever since he brought the dish out. It was soup, to your great dismay. The very thought of eating it with three other people had made you want to stab yourself with the dinner spoon as Frank announced the success of his new recipe.

As soon as everyone had ladled soup into their bowls you were thrown into a fresh new depth of hell. The sound clinking of the silverware on the bowls felt like gunshots ricocheting through your brain. Bill kept slurping his soup. Some of it drained into his beard. Frank kept fucking talking while he chewed on bread. The whole thing had you almost in tears, it felt like you were on fire, and somehow everyone else was completely fine, which consistently renewed the obligation you felt to sit through the entire dinner.

Finally you couldn’t take it anymore — any other day you might have been able to make it another ten or fifteen minutes, suffering in silence as every bit of stimuli set your senses aflame, but you had simply had enough. Every bit of masking and terrible sensory stimulation had built up, like a cup overflowing, and any more would have sent you into a spiral.

You stood from the table, muttering something about getting more wine before rushing into the kitchen.

At last you were alone, and though it ceased the constant burning in your mind, it did not soothe the aftermath of it. A slight panic set in that you couldn’t explain, and all you wanted to do was go lay in bed, free from everyone and every sensation. For a while you stood in the kitchen, eyes closed, attempting to regulate your breathing.

The opening of the kitchen door caught your attention, and to your great relief it was Tess joining you — if it had been Bill or Frank, you weren’t sure you would have been able to keep your composure, not if they did one more thing to trigger you.

“You okay?” Tess asked, refilling her glass of wine before standing beside you, leaning against the kitchen counter. She offered you a glass of wine and you realized that she had refilled your empty glass along with her own.

“I’m fine,” you croaked, taking the glass of wine from her and immediately taking a gulp of it.

She raised her eyebrows, taking notice of how much wine you’d just drank, but you didn’t care.

“What happened?” She asked, ignoring your adamance that you were fine.

You sighed, gesturing to the dining room, feeling sick just thinking about it. “They kept making those fucking noises… the chewing, and the slurping. I think they heard those fuckers chewing all the way back at the QZ. I couldn’t fucking take it anymore. And the soup, I don’t know what the fuck Frank put in it, but the texture was atrocious.”

Anyone else would have looked at you like you were insane. Anyone else would have lectured you about how you were being ridiculous, how no one else could hear what to them was so naturally inaudible. But the way Tess looked at you only displayed the love she had for you — she understood, or maybe she didn’t, but to her you were perfect, and as best she could she would make things better for you, would listen to you.

“Come here,” she said suddenly, leaving through the back entrance to the kitchen in order to avoid the dining room. She led you back to the guest room you were staying in, and though you were grateful for the peace you had finally acquired, worry still lingered at the back of your mind, and the hammering in your skull had relinquished to utter exhaustion.

“They’re going to notice when we don’t go back down,” you said tiredly.

Tess shrugged. She began to rummage through her backpack, and you slumped down into an armchair by the side of the bed, closing your eyes.

“I was going to save this for when we got back to the QZ,” Tess said, turning to face you, “for a holiday or something, I don’t fucking know. But I think now is a better time.”

You opened your eyes to see her standing in front of you, holding her backpack.

You furrowed your eyebrows, a bit confused. You were about to ask her what she was talking about when she pulled from her backpack a record — it looked perfectly new, untouched.

As you took it in your hands, you paused. She had given you an album by your favorite band, a band you were obsessed with. It was the only album of theirs that you hadn’t collected in the last 20 years. Tess had completed your collection.

“Holy shit,” you breathed, your gaze shifting from the album to her. “Tess, how did you…”

“Frank and I made a trade.”

“What did you trade him for it?”

She shook her head, moving to turn on the old record player on the other side of the bed. “Doesn’t matter.”

“Tess, it does matter.”

“Just enjoy it,” she said firmly, and you joined her by the record player, setting up the player with the record.

After a moment the first song on the track began to play. It was a bit faded, a bit scratchy, but you didn’t care. It was perfect, simply because it was there.

Gently Tess took your hand, leading you a few feet away to the open space of the bedroom. The two of you began to sway to the music, relishing in the peace that came from the comfort of the music in accompaniment with silence. You still felt burnt out sensory-wise, and you would for a little while, but being alone with the woman you loved while listening to a band you adored took so much of the last few weeks’ burdens off your shoulders.

“Do you want me to adjust anything?” Tess asked after a few minutes. “Lights, music volume, anything? I know you’re overstimulated and I don’t want to make it worse.”

You shook your head, smiling softly. “I’m okay.”

And you were, so completely content with simply being there with her. She was everything, an embodiment of peace though so threatening to everyone but you.

“Thank you,” you said quietly, resting your head on her shoulder as the two of you continued to sway to the music.

“The next time Frank offers to make soup for dinner, I’m going to bash his head in.”

A Beginner's Guide to Every Yakuza Ash S/I!

(this will not include nanba and seonhee because idk my s/is yet. I'll include what game every character is from in case you're curious.)

(Mentions of parent death, child abuse, car crashes, violence, and some spoilers)

(Every single Yakuza game.)

Our favorite detective dad, Date, has a fellow detective for a partner. Ash is around 40 in Yakuza 1 and used to be his partner (in work, he was still with his ex-wife at the time). After a few years, Ash left the police and became a private investigator. She continues to do this, even when he goes back to the police.

Ash became a homicide detective to find the truth about why her parents were murdered. She did. She killed the man who did it.

These days, though, she's a fun side character who's pretty much your typical detective and often talks about work. She's very thoughtful and almost always analyzing things, but she's sorta got some major trust issues to work through... Might be my favorite S/I. She never hesitates to get her hands dirty and has quite a few shady connections around town.

She falls in love with Date AFTER his divorce and is on good terms with his ex and his daughter from his marriage. They get married around Y3-Y4. Like Date, she's in her late 50s by the current games.

She always wears a red coat and has in every single appearance of hers. It's a running gag that she has everything in her coat. First Aid Kit? Jumbo Bunchan Plushie? A gun? A whole bottle of beer? Whatever you need, Ash probably has it in her coat.

Kiryuuuu! Kiryu Ash is a bartender (age 21) in Y0 and the two of them get together a few years after the game. They are dating in Y1 and continue to date throughout the series.

Ash does drop the bartender gig after a few games, but she's always by Kiryu's side. She's very loyal, and loves nothing more than a street fight. She loves getting her hands dirty and has so much fun. No wonder she gets along with the Dragon of Dojima!

She's a very strong fighter, and goes with Kiryu to the orphanage. That's about it. I don't like her very much LMAO I have cooler S/Is!

I wouldn't be surprised if the later games have the two of them on not-so-great terms. Ash has been a constant in the series and is Kiryu's most loyal companion, even when he's a stupid idiot. Ash is nice! Very nice!

(Yakuza 4)

KIDOOOOOO! Kido time! Another character tells him to go balls out (Kido was feeling a little unsure about doing something) and it turned into a meme. That's the tag.

Kido's Ash is... as normal as it gets. She's in her early-mid 20s. She's just your average nerdy civilian. However, she's very funny. Why, you ask? It's because she's OBSESSED with Bunchan plushies! As am I. This is a real screenshot of mine from Judgment.

She has Bunchan eveeryythiinnggg, and their first meeting is outside of an arcade because Ash wanted to win them from the claw machine. Kido won it for her. They fall in love. Happy story. That's it. Yup. That's Kido Ash. She has a Bunchan lanyard sticking out of her jacket. She's a Bunchan freak.

She wears a mask and kills anyone who comes too close, disguising herself as a man. Shit happens, and she ends up crossing blades with two Shinsengumi captains.

Ryoma grows close with her first, and falls for her. Once they date, Hijikata falls for her too. I've talked about them a lot on this blog. They live a peaceful life and raise chickens on their farm together.

There's also Kurohyou Ash, but I'm still writing her. She's in her mid-late 20s.

There's also Hanawa Ash. I have a crush on him but haven't met him yet.

So like im not a professional hater for it bc i simply didnt like it and i only make well thought out analyses if i enjoy the thing a lot for whatever reason and to me tlt is more of a whimper than a bang. so this isnt the most well thought out & its been a year or maybe 2 since i read it. but lets go. i read the first 2 books & not nona the ninth btw, and i enjoyed gideon for the most part due to I Love Murder Mysteries. but once its no longer a murder mystery(& confined to one location) i felt like the whole thing fell apart. i also generally found the relationships and characters to be pretty uncompelling. like i didnt really care about gideon and harrow it was like woah they like each other now. wasnt really feelin it. i know a lot of people like it and thats fine though. the characters i liked the best were camilla and palamedes and then they dropped the bomb that palamedes was a heterosexual and i was genuinely so upset. like the man had fag vibes. We’d also been talking about wanting to do a summerween-inspired hangout 4 a while n since apology tour took place on Halloween, well, it just made sense. AND THUS just a few short hours ago, casper n I watched ALL OF HELLUVA BOSS (murder family to apology tour, skipping shorts, music videos, the pilot n anything not considered a full canonical episode bc this binge was already pushing 6 hrs long and that’s just. So much.) AT ONCE. Below I have their RAW UNFILTERED thoughts on each episode individually. These r all 100% true direct quotes and if they say I’m lying then THEYRE the liar and they should receive jail time for those actions. 

Murder Family: “6/10. I love Loony Toons. Cartoon antics are fun but Blitzø gets on my nerves. Millie and Moxxie r rly cute!! Thought teacher lady was a main character and was disappointed :(“

Exes and Ohs has always been my least favorite episode in the series n I couldn’t subject either myself or my friend to actually watching the whole thing in its entirety lolololol. I just explained the important bits n we moved on. 

Western Energy: “4.5/10. Feels like it should be important bc Stolas almost dies but like,,,,, also feels like a filler episode.”

i have had a few moments where i really liked (mackenyu) zoro. when he smiled, once, i was like WOW ??? HELLO??? I LOVE U ... and then it was Gone.. i just need the silly guy to be silly. either way his action scenes are fantastic like. huge kudos to mackenyu for that. "zoro’s characterization seems to be one of the major criticisms ive seen across the board so maybe they’ll lighten him up for season 2." I HOPE SO!!! its not like hes doing an awful job or anything, im just sad abt the way the character has gone. make him smile a little more and joke around a little more and i will be happy as a clam or whatever that saying is. also excited for whatever the zoro saying fuck scene is.. i dont really notice cussing most of the time in media so i hope it doesnt slip past me

ok ok so. i have a lot of stuff 4 grian so far so im gonna start with him.

first of all his horns r supposed to be somewhat like the evo symbol. shortly after the last edit he got kicked out of the brooding caverns early and they just kinda gave him over to whatever cult represents the watchers here. also it's my au and i get to decide what old grian content is canon. yhs is too. one of his horns got ripped out by sam while they were both like 3 sweep olds. also he dresses like a rust instead of a purple (w the makeup instead of facepaint. slay) because something something not wanting to associate with the other purplebloods.

for scar uhhhh. i just think he fits rlly well as a jade. cannot explain why. maybe it's lanque but he just gives me male jade vibes. also jellie is his lusus and thats important and everyone needs to know this. his whole story with jellie is kinda like crytum and platycat (if u havent played all of sbb, he never had a lusus and then got a cat one for emotional support after moving to the stronghold). scar's horns r also based off allay wings and i think they r rlly cool :D

i made mumbo a gold and i was gonna make his eyes red like redstone, but i thought he fit more like jentha with whatever the fuck she had going on. his horns r supposed to be redstone torches. dunno where he fits in the present though (ie second edit) maybe he died idk.

i have less 2 say abt ren and martyn since i dont remember much from 3l but i am so insane abt them. ren as a rust and martyn as an indigo :shoutpole: GET THIS. ren takes sestros place as ceo of the world basically but his second in command is on the complete other side of the spectrum. idk if the differing lifespan thing is canon in ve (like it is in aleph null) but it WOULD be funny if it was.

"HEYYYYYYYY Y/NNNNN !!" Someone screamed from somewhere behind I, I quickly turn around around and realize it was Yumeno Qyusaku. Wait what was he doing here?!

"Q?" I ask scream

"YA?!"

"COME OVER HERE!" I scream again my voice getting slighty tired. The chaotic boy then runs toward me.

"Do you wanna play?" Qyusaku asks me. Was this the reason he came to my school??? Doesn't he have a job or something? Couldn't he wait for a few more hours?

"School... Wait... That reminds me! I'm not supposed to be here! Gottagobyeeee!" Qyusaku then runs off while I just stare into space thinking how the hell did he sneak in here?!

"I'm coming in." I opened the door gently and was greeted with them slumped in the corner of the room crying.

"hey its ok..." I sit down next to them and try and comfort them trying to comfort them keyword trying I'm pretty sure they started to cry harder...

from the moment you had arrived in devildom, you had been the epitome of chaos.

diavolo had called you by your deadname, which you rightfully objected to. the second you interrupted diavolo, lucifer was on his feet ready to murder you. it wasn't until you had explained the situation that lucifer calmed down and diavolo profusely apologised, stating that he hadn't known and was more than willing to respect your name and pronouns.

to say you were shocked would be an understatement, especially after finding out just who diavolo was. though you hadn't quite grasped what your new reality was, you did realise that these "demons" were no joke. but even though they were demons, they had taken your gender identity and pronouns more seriously than a lot of humans you've told.

from the get go, lucifer knew you would be a handful. great, he thought, another nuisance to add to his list of problems. however, he hadn't expected you to be this boisterous.

and while he grew to love how you didn't take shit from anyone, it didn't mean you weren't the cause of his migraines ninety percent of the time.

"you're punishing me because i'm trans, aren't you?" you joked, which only made the first born roll his eyes, pulling laughs out of the brothers who watched.

"for the last time, i'm lecturing you because you skipped classes to play hooky with that fool next to you, and when you were asked why you did it, your response was and i quote 'be gay, do crimes'." the seriousness on lucifer's face as he said that had you doing everything in your power to hold back your laugh, only for you to slip up and let out a squeak of laughter.

the other six lounged on the couch behind you, finding the situation just as hilarious as you if their cackles were anything to go by.

"suck my ten inch dick you fucking loser!" you yelled out behind you to mammon as you ran around the HOL sitting room, jumping over belphie who was casually sleeping on the floor, causing the lounging brothers to look up from what they were doing.

"hey." lucifer warned, eyes trained on the documents he was reading, occasionally throwing a glance at the commotion.

"fuck you! you don't even have a dick! gimme goldie back ya tree stump!" mammon cried out, chasing you as you went to hide behind the couch where satan and asmodeus sat, watching the show with amusement in their eyes.

"language!" lucifer chided while massaging the bridge of his nose, knowing full well no one was even listening.

"that's not what you were saying last night!" you replied, yelping when the second born nearly got a hold of your shirt.

"that don't even make sense! lucifer, help me out here will ya?!"

"you started this, you deal with the consequences." lucifer sighed out, but the smile on his face betrayed his faux exasperation.

you screamed when mammon tried barrelling towards you, only for beelzebub to pick up his defiant older brother and walk away with him in his arms.

"stop yelling, can't focus on eating when you're chasing mc." beel said with an ice lolly hanging from his lips.

you had known you were bound to run into some demons that opposed your gender identity, and that's why you were in this situation right now.

you were in a lust demon's face, more than ready to throw hands if the situation called for it.

they had mocked you by using the wrong set of pronouns on you and when you tried to correct them, they simply rolled their eyes and laughed.

if you were in a cartoon, you were sure to have the cross popping veins above your head right now.

"you either use my preferred pronouns or i'll hit you in the jaw with a fucking brick." you spat at them, beyond ready to make your threat a reality.

"mc!" you heard satan call from across the hallway, making your head snap towards him.

the fourth born quickly made his way towards you and started dragging you away, all the while telling you off about how you just couldn't pick fights in the middle of a RAD hallway right before fifth period.

you had blocked him out for the most part, choosing to shoot daggers at the demon from earlier, moving to mouth a clear 'i will feed you to cerberus' you knew would make belphie proud.

"mc, pleaseeeee." levi whined, following you as you manoeuvred around the kitchen.

"fine! but let me think about it!" you gave up, throwing your hands in the air before turning to the demon behind you.

levi cheered and pumped his fist in the air before you interrupted his celebration, "if it's another short chatacter, my answer is no."

leviathan cried out, letting out something akin to a groan, a whine and a cry at the same time.

"IT IS?" you shouted. truthfully, you had just been joking, taking a playful guess as to what he wanted to dress you up in, but you never thought you would nail the hammer on the head.

"mc, last one i swear! after this one i'll give you the tall characters!" he continued to whine, going as far as to follow you into your room.

"you said that last time!" came your rebuttal.

".... but you'd look so cute as the short one.." without a warning, leviathan shoved his DDD in your face with a picture of the characters he wanted you and him to cosplay.

... and you had to admit, you would look good as the short one.

you huffed, "you win, but this is the last time, levi! i mean it! no more cute characters for me! i wanna cosplay badass characters!"

the avatar of envy let out an excited squeak and nodded so fast you worried he would get whiplash. he practically ran out of your room, probably off to order your costume on akuzon and you sighed, knowing that this time would in fact not be the last time.

"you don't think i'm strong enough to do it?" you asked tauntingly, and beel shrugged.

"i didn't think humans could be strong." the avatar of gluttony admitted and continued on walking, moving past you and setting the box down.

"well i am but... i.. i just don't want to!" you huffed and looked away.

the demon paused from picking up the next box and looked at you for a while, giving you a look that you recognised to be one of amusement.

"... you don't believe me, do you?" you stepped forward, making a go for the box beel was reaching for. said demon watched you, staring at your arms in a 'are you sure about this' manner.

"s-see! i'm doing just fuh-fine!" you somehow managed to wheeze out, the enchanted package being far heavier than you anticipated. maybe the tall demon was right, maybe humans weren't strong enough to carry cursed boxes but you weren't about to tell him that.

"you're going to blow out your back." beelzebub wasted no time in taking the box from your arms before you could hurt yourself, gently placing it amongst the other bewitched boxes all while making it seem as though it were weightless.

"i swear! i'm stronger than every other man!" you shouted as he picked you up and carried you under his arm.

the demon didn't reply, simply walking out of the door with you squirming in his grasp, promising that there was no man out there stronger than you.
