I don't really get the people who think reading the comics is such a radical idea. Don't they want to learn more about them? aren't they curious what makes them tick? what insane adventures they went on? what fears they have? what makes them laugh and smile? I'm from europe so I haven't seen any of the DC shows I see mentioned every once in a while (which means I really don't get the whole Clark hates clones thing... but that's a different thing) and it's only been this year that I have enough disposable income to splurge on comics, aka I haven't read that many just yet.

But I do think the ones I have read enhance the stories I'm trying to tell, which to me is a good reason to read them ;p but besides that, they are fun! they are just really fun to read

I’m glad you’re having fun reading comics man! It’s a shame that folks don’t read them as much but you know, I can understand it. I both asked some folks in the Haunting Heroes discord server and have some of my own points to make about this.

First of all I do still believe that you should consume some form of DC media if you’re in the fandom. It’s fun and there are comics, books, movies, tv shows, and every other form of medium known to man that you can take a peek at! Idk I’m just a bit DC enjoyer and think that looking at canon media to expand on your knowledge and help create ideas you wouldn’t have had if you hadn’t looked at said piece of media.

Now onto why reading comic books is hard:

Some folks simply prefer the fandom and not the official DC content. Whether they prefer fanon, find fics more accessible, or like the people in the fandom, they’d rather just stick to the fandom.

They simply don’t know where to start. Getting into comics can be INCREDIBLY overwhelming ( DC has done their best to fix this and has messed up more than once. My go to is to reccomend folks just start reading New 52 comic runs as it’s really good for new readers to jump into the comics with any hero that might intrigue them). Big comic events span multiple comic story runs and not a cohesive line of comics, some omnibuses for stories are out of print, the 80+ years of comics are daunting as hell, and everyone has their own opinion on the best versions of a character/where to start/what to read.

Money. Comics are an expensive hobby to have. They may cost $1-$5 each on average but that price adds up over time. I have a comic collection of roughly 1,300 comics. I’d estimate its value very roughly around the $7,800 range. It’s probably far more than that though and I know damn well reselling it I won’t get half of that value back. I’m very fortunate to be a college student with disposable income and for this hobby to be the only thing I ever really spend money on besides rent and food. Some people either can’t afford them or don’t want to buy a comic they don’t know if it’s good or not.

Varying quality. Comics are a very mixed bag thing where they can be incredibly written or some of the worst pieces of media you’ve ever read. With this being the case, it can be really hard to find a comic character or writer you like if that’s your first experience. It takes a while to learn about different writers and find out who your favorite writers are. What’s harder is some writers can make absolute masterpieces with one character and the next comic run they cover it can be absolute garbage. Not only that, everyone has opinions on what is a good comic run or not. It’s impossible to find a repeatedly stated and easily accessible list on the good comics to read.

Pretentious “Canon is God” fans. Experiencing “um actually this isn’t good because this isn’t how the canon character would act” responses from people can really fucking suck and diminish their want to experience anything that’s official DC writing. I’ve seen more than one person go into this primarily fanon focused space and insult people saying their writing isn’t canonical and therefore it isn’t valid. It’s Uber Pretentious, demeaning, and actively harms peoples interests in checking out canon content.

Timelines. I already kind of said it but DC’s timelines are a mess. hell, even New 52 has some fucked up timelines making all of Batman’s previous timelines canon but happen only within a seven year period. That’s WAY too short for how much history is packed in there. The amount of crisises that happen and fully change the lore and timelines of characters is bonkers, the comic runs that bounce between different comic runs are really confusing, and the fact that there isn’t a True Starting Point for reading makes it so hard to grasp anything that’s happening. It’s one of comics biggest issues and no matter what DC has done they have yet to find a convenient solution.

Sensitive Content. Comics from DC are littered with either intentional, badly aged, or ignorantly written plot points and writing choices that will turn away readers. DC has its fair share of sexism, misogyny, abelism, racism, abuse, sexual harassment, sexual assaults, or topics casually addressed that can be very triggering for some people. Especially since a large amount of that sort of content is handled incredibly poorly. One particular writer, Alan Moore, writes sexual assault scenes with absolutely zero tact or the delicateness that a topic such as that should be held in. It’s almost solely used as a “let’s make the bad guy do the most fucked up thing they could do” throwaway plot point. Comics of the sort dissuade a lot of readers because of both the heavy content within comics and how that content can be incredibly poorly handled. This is partially why some folks would prefer to read fics. Comics are a unknown mixed grab bag when it comes to content like this and things exactly like this is known to make PTSD symptoms worse while fics have tags and can warn you before you consume the content within.

Time. A lot of folks have busy lives and just don’t have the time to read them.

The ways they intake media. Some folks might have a better time watching a long commentary video that explains a comic or their brain can’t process the comic medium very well. I can read and retain comic knowledge but even I am unique in this aspect, my memory is frightening levels of bad and is proven by science to be absolute shit. I have to reread comics at least once a month to retain the basic bare bones plot. Just because one person can easily digest what’s going on in a comic doesn’t mean everyone can.

Comics are such a big part of my life. I love them so much and they’ve gotten me through so many things. My own experience with comics isn’t the same for others and my thoughts on reading comics differs with other people. A lot of people have equally as many reasons for why they don’t read comics as you and I have for reading them.

It did take me a few tries to understand, but i got it!

So neither of them really fit the same sort of dynamic Shidou and Rin had. Partly cause I don’t think Natsumi would be so quick to beating people up (she’s definitely not opposed, but it’s not her immediate instinct in the same way it is for Shidou).

So neither of them would be in the same building as Natsumi, however they’d end up on a team during the 3rd Selection. And that’d be around the time Natsumi would be her angriest.

Momoka ‘Momo’: She’s the 3rd daughter of a very wealthy family. She’s gets her interest in soccer from her Dad who wouldn’t shut up about it. She’s very popular with anyone who doesn’t play the sport with her. She’s very nasty as soon as she steps on the field. Everything she does is very quick, but her shots don’t have a lot of power behind them so her shooting range is quite low. She’s got great fundamentals, and insists that people need to play the game her way. Her and Natsumi wouldn’t get along because she takes the fun out of the game for Natsumi.

Yukino: She tends to keep to herself, she’s naturally more quiet. She doesn’t speak a lot but when she does it’s for something important. She plays soccer cause everyone told her she should play a sport, and it seemed like the easiest one. She comes off as being angry, but she’s just got a naturally angry face. She’s very observant, but due to her lack of soccer knowledge she’s never sure why something is wrong, she just knows it’s off. She’s a bit more buff than I had intended, but she’s a power kicker, and can really effectively get it where she needs to go. Her and Natsumi would be more likely to be friends, but they get off on the wrong foot.

I do want to make a character who would be comparable to Rin for her, i just don’t know what type of character she would be.

Astrology and driving

I’m avoiding my essay, and I was thinking about driving and what that might correlate to in astrology. From when I looked into it online, it is looking like maybe 3rd house (including 3rd house ruler), Mercury, or Mars might be influential in your driving skills or relationship to driving.

I have Mercury in Virgo in the 3rd house, my 3rd house is Leo, and Pisces Mars in the 10th house. It took me a long time to get the hang of driving, and pass my test, because I just overthought it a lot, which is definitely the Virgo and 3rd house influence. Pisces does also indicate an overactive mind as well though. Also with my Leo being in 3rd house, it could indicate that I prefer being the one being driven places/being passenger princess rather than being the one driving. I would say also that Venus signs like libra and Taurus might also like being driven places rather than driving, just because these signs (Taurus, Libra and Leo) thrive when being treated like royalty. My best friend drives me everywhere, even though I have a license lmao.

Aries 3rd house, Aries mars, aries Mercury, or 3rd house ruler in 1st house:

- honestly, could really see Aries placements LOVING driving, or if not the driving, maybe the cars? I don’t know why it’s just the vibe I’m getting

- loves driving fast

okay so i just finished helluva boss (but not the shorts which i don’t think i’ll watch)…

and i enjoyed it for the most part. it’s a fun little show and i think that’s how people ought to treat it. i’ve a few thoughts below the cut. i’ve read a lot of glazing and a lot of hate and tbh i think i’m somewhere in the middle which seems like a rare thing in this fandom lmao

my favorite characters were fizz and moxxie & millie (tho the camp episode was so boring oh my goddd) and also ozzie however his design drives me up a wall why does he look like that. however his VA is sooo good

why do they say fuck so much

it feels like a show made for edgy high schoolers idk like it’s fun but it’s 90% sex jokes, ‘witty’ one-liners, and ship content

they interact with issues shallowly—like classism in hell and possibly racism (? if imps are a separate race ? idk)—and tbh i think they should stick to shallow examinations. social commentary is not their strong suit. things won’t hold together if they try to go deeper with this; it’s not a serious show and it should not be taking itself seriously. it works best when it’s interpersonal

i have a big issue w how viv/the writers/character designers portray fat ppl. i rly didn’t get the fat jokes about moxxie in that one ep like was it supposed to be a running gag? the character designs make everyone thin as a toothpick except for mammon who also happens to be the one sin they portray as being the worst and most disgusting. even bee who literally *is* gluttony is disgusted by mammon in that one scene where he’s chowing down in the courtroom. like what sense does that make.

which gets me to my real question that consistently bugged me throughout the whole series: what is the standard of morals in hell? the sins are personifications of their domains, so why are most of them decent folks? does this imply that people are sent to hell based on very conservative christian views—like is that the moral standard in this universe (i haven’t seen hh if this is explained)? like there genuinely weren’t a lot of indications for me for why a sin was a sin. ozzie emphasized lust being consensual; bee was concerned for blitz overindulging; but then verosika and her friends sexually assault moxxie and it’s implicitly brushed off as funny and not a big deal because oh well it is hell after all. idk it just felt inconsistent to me and i’m not sure why everyone and everything was so sanitized if this is supposed to be a terrible place

i liked the backstory episodes those were fun

i feel like they babygirlified stolas by making stella so unlikeable. it feels like the show runners were begging for us to sympathize with him when i thought he was a plenty decent character on his own and they could have made him much more morally complex by letting stella be an actual character. i was hoping there would be a little more ambiguity to it (rather than ‘yay stolas is finally divorcing that bitch’) because i genuinely was a little confused by why octavia was so mad at him at the end of s2 when the show covers his bases—she saw that stella wasn’t letting him call? idk i feel like the conflict should’ve come around the stars episode not the end one it just didn’t make sense to me. her struggle with the divorce made sense in s1 but by s2 they’d made stella such the clear-cut villain that it seemed like she never had a happy family to mourn the loss of. it felt forced that they transferred the conflict she seemed to be set up for having with her mother to stolas just to give him something to be upset about.

i’m not a big fan of stolitz im gonna be honest. idk why they like each other. they went from stolas essentially being a funny thirsty character to making their relationship the main plot line. it felt forced on blitz’s end especially like he went from not caring about him to ‘no actually he’s just too insecure to admit his feelings’ to madly in love?? within the space of a few episodes? there was also the problematic classist overtones as well but i think giving them an overtly toxic situationship would’ve been better and more fitting to the fact that they’re in hell than airbrushing things away so they can be an uwu yaoi pairing.

i enjoyed some of the songs especiallyyy the asmodeus one is s1 that was groovy as hell

i love fizz and ozzie they’re really cute :)

some of the designs got on my nerves (like ozzie and striker etc) but some of them were pretty cool (like fizz and stolas!)

in closing, i think the show is fine and a pretty fun watch it just shouldn’t take itself too seriously because then it breaks down.

‏𖦹 I think she’d learn a bunch of songs on her bass to help her little one out! Lullabies are the most obvious one. But also songs for certain tasks! For example when they’re brushing their teeth she’ll play a song to help them to brush for the right amount of time! Gotta keep those teethies clean! She’ll also learn the notes for the clean up song and she’ll encourage her little one to sing along! Playing the clean up song also gives more reason why the little one needs to be cleaning up instead of her since she’s busy playing her bass, and cleaning up after yourself is super important!

‏𖦹 Definitely plays the softer Leo/Need songs as lullabies! And she’ll sing along! She’ll even change up the lyrics a little bit to fit her relationship with her baby! And obviously her little one loves her music because they love her and her music means so so much to her! Though I also think she’ll experiment with playing songs in different keys! To make them sound more like lullabies. Idk if any of my followers can even understand what I mean cause this is getting into musical nerd-dom but like. Pleaseeeee guys this is so cute I promise. Plus it’s good practice for her!

𖦹 Shiho would try writing her own lullabies! She gets help from her band mates of course, mainly Saki since lullabies focus more on melodies than beat or lyrics. But she definitely still gets help from the other two! Especially since Saki can be very nosy… But she puts a lot of effort in to make something personal just for her and her little one! She wants it to be perfect, incorporating all the noises that she’d noticed seem to calm and soothe them, the sounds that make them happy, the kinds of words they’d want to hear in the lyrics. She pays so much attention!

𖦹 Shiho would love to teach her little one about guitars! She’ll get them a cute little toy guitar to jam out with her! Yes she’ll literally make songs around the noises her babies guitar can make, it’s so cute! If she’s taking care of an older kiddo I think she’d get them a real guitar! Not like a professional or expensive one, just a tiny one! Maybe in their favorite color. And she’ll teach them some simple notes and songs! (My dad did this with me when I was like 4 (�� ω ╥) Unfortunately Ash hates the feeling of string instruments, much to my dads disdain who used to play guitar until a bad hand injury)

𖦹 Shiho had learned and memorized so many cartoon intros on her bass… She’s started using them as warm ups, which Saki of course always insists on pointing out… But she likes playing the songs for her kiddo and making them guess which show it’s from! She’ll even grade them and give them rewards for doing good! Sometimes she’ll hook up her bass and play the intro over the TV and it’s so cool! On longer intro’s she’ll find opportunities to write in solos for herself to make it seem even cooler!

𖦹 I think she’d really like a show if the intro had cool music! Or the outro of course, but intros tend be better since they need to be catchy as a hook. Like anything that she tries to play and it’s just fun, she’ll instantly love the show! She’ll be humming the song as it’s stuck in her head all throughout the day, which she definitely gets a little annoyed with… But she honestly gets excited to watch the show! Even if it’s just to listen to the music and compare her own performance to how it sounds. Though she will get interested in the actual show content too! Just. Not as much as the music-

𖦹 Oopsies made these all music centric- UHHHH. She definitely lets her little one play her animal caretaking game on her phone! She’s embarrassed to admit she plays it usually, but of course her little one gets to know! Most of the time she just likes to let them watch her play, that way they can’t mess anything up… But she does like to let them do simple tasks! Or she’ll download it so they can play it on their own phone! That way they can try to catch up to her! (That’s impossible, she’s to far ahead, especially if they only play while feeling tiny)

help i need to know why you hate season 3 of mtl. it’s my personal fave however i know it’s very divisive amongst fans (s2 is literally perfect though agreed on that)

SEASON 2 IS PERFECT NO ONE CAN DENY THAT

ok so many issues..and i’ll say i’m not counting the first episode or obviously doublebookedklok bc those two are SO good, match the normal tone, AND are so important to the plot.. they are fully excempt from my critique

but some of the biggest issues i take:

there is a very weird vibe shift in season 3 to me, it feels overall so much mean spirited? idk there is a feeling of so much love and care in the first two seasons—in the writing from the creators and within the band themselves (in their very stupid Them way ofc). season 3 just. doesn’t feel that way? i wonder if the team was going through shit with adult swim at the time that manifested in a more spiteful tone overall? idk the band just doesn’t feel like the dysfunctional family they usually are in a lot of the episodes in season 3 and personally… it just feels like a loss. murderface is treated so much stupider than before to where it genuinely feels like they all dislike him, skwisgaar is lowkey forgotten as a character other than Guy Who Fucks (except ofc fatherklok which i also enjoy). rehabklok is undeniably also very good bc the music SLAPS and it’s fun to see brendon go full on theater kid with it, but even still — the band’s treatment of pickles is SO out of character too?? in season one they all lost their minds at the thought of losing pickles even temporarily to snakes n barrels, had to get wasted to watch him perform with them? but now he’s in rehab and they don’t give a fuck and replace him with a robot? HELLO??? i choose to interpret that episode as actually just a manifestation of pickles’ personal worst nightmare

THE PLOT.. WHERE DID THE PLOT GO? obv it’s a show where the overarching storyline is always the backbone and not the fronting part of the story line, but we had episodes twice as long as usual, and there’s barely any tribunal? we could’ve done soooo much more with that time was salacia just on vacation? in the same vein, i feel like the pacing within episodes is.. off?? the writers are SO good at fitting soooo much into 10 minutes, it almost felt like they didn’t know how to fill time, and scenes linger longer than they should, the comedic timing is not quite right, it’s just OFF

the two episodes i reeeeally hate are fertilityklok and dethsiduals…. they both just like epitomize the tone shift that doesn’t work for me. there’s something profoundly uncomfortable about fertilityklok to me that i can’t place, it’s just so unpleasant imo like everything about it lmaoo. i also .. don’t like that being back to back with fatherklok for skwisgaar it just feels like we got really good character insight and growth for him, and then.. COMPLETE shutdown. guy who fucks, that’s all (i’m also obv very very partial to skwis so biased haha). dethsiduals feels like THE most hateful toned?? i don’t like how anyone behaves in that episode lmaooo it’s just so OFF, all i can say can be summarized in vibes are OFF

i also do actually like the rockzo episode as well tho uh… y’know some things could be different (14???? come on man) but i actually enjoy all the rockzo episodes bc they always bring out interesting parts of toki. i love that we got more childhood toki insight!! a highlight for sure. and then uhhh dethhealth is one of the better ones as well - i think it suffers from the off pacing, but it still feels more like the past seasons AND toki’s cat song is a certified banger that gets stuck in my head all the time STILL

ok that was fr so many words that didn’t necessarily need to go this long BUT obv i have been needing to talk about this for years lmaooo tldr i wish they’d stayed truer to the tone and characterization set in the first two seasons, and REALLY wish they’d utilized the time better for the actual plot

it’s been like a month now since I finished reading new mutants but. I received vague interest so these r my sparknotes feelings. I had varying levels of familiarity with these characters previously bc I’ve read a lot of xmen. so I had some biases going in.

however the biggest thought I walked away with was. demon bear was disappointing. It was hyped up a whole bunch and like. the art was stunning!!but the actual story? I liked the scenes where you just see the team Caring Deeply for one another. but the actual fight scenes were. fine i guess. I expected more Dani focus but illyana managed to sneak in there. Sam wore a hat and I really liked that.

rahne. unfortunately my first memorable experience with her was xfi. so I was biased against her going in. I still find her annoying but I want to put her in a blanket and keep her safe. baby girl.

Dani is so cool. I have no real thoughts she’s just a Cool Girl. I liked her spear.

Roberto was less than I anticipated. I love him I’d kill for him but he didn’t really stand out super often. tbf he gets his moment in fallen angels. everyone was too mean to him though. everyone was so mean to him all the time and while he was insufferable at points. it was so uncalled for?? need a new trial of magneto where he gets in trouble for not being nice enough to Roberto.

Amara. im sorry I hate her she’s so annoying she has no redeeming qualities. i wish i could like her. I cannot bring myself to enjoy her I was glad when she left. also her with the hellions and empathwas the most interesting I found her.

Xuân. im shockingly neutral on. somehow I’ve never really read anything that’s *about* her. and this kinda felt the same way. she’s fun I guess. but im so neutral on her.

illyana is fun and I enjoy her. she suffers a little bit from Wolverine syndrome I think where im SO exposed to her all the time that I can’t love her the same. but I do like her. she took over stories but like she’s pretty op and has a fun background to work with so I get why it happens.

Doug I read a lot of him on krakoa so I think a lot of my caring about him sprouted from that. bc he’s cute but also really annoying at points. his death. surprised me in many ways because holy shit it was depressing and messed up the stuff that happened afterwards. but the death itself felt so. anticlimactic. I was thinking as I read it like ‘oh this one isn’t the permanent death right?? bc that was so.’ and then it was. he’s sweet.

sam. listen sam was the character I was most familiar w going in. and he’s the one who’s appearances post new mutants I’ve been following. I have talked about guthries. I like him :)

I think I liked Magneto as a teacher better than Charles. more freedom, more conflict. it was more interesting and I really enjoyed the specific relationships between magneto and the kids

I had not anticipated the amount of personality the hellions had. I didn’t know they showed up that much and were like. real people. but I really liked them. catseye especially :)

however. this was much more racist than I knew. it was not ever mentioned to me how much they’d say things. they just. kept saying things. they didn’t stop. and also. there were a lot of changing shots. why did we see them in their underwear so much even as they emphasized how young they were. that bothered me.

overall it was very good. technically speaking I stopped reading during inferno bc that was where I had already read it all recently. but I think personally the weakest point was pre-inferno. I didn’t like the gosamyr stuff. and maybe im biased bc i love xforce but getting some new characters in there was great for it. anyways i really liked new mutants and while. im sad it took me this long to read it. I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed it the same way a few years ago :)

man im like genuinely so curious like whats up with toichirei? im not a hater im just confused, like whats up with you being so obsessed with it and this is totally an invitation for you to rant about it and give me a whole essay on it if you wanna

I’ll do my best to describe, I’m not too great at describing stuff. I suppose my first thought is that I like their dynamic, Reigen is this guy who’s lied and schemed his way into and out of things who believes that there’s nothing really great about him, that underneath his lies there’s nothing there for anyone to like, but he’s kind, he genuinely cares for Mob and gave Serizawa a second chance, he’s helped a ton of people, even in just small ways. But despite how many people he’s helped he’s lonely.

Toichiro is just awful, he ran claw for years, was a horrible father, a horrible husband, he never did anything good. But he realized he was wrong, about everything, after his fight with Mob. in the end he’s nothing special, and because he spent so long believing he was above others, he isolated himself. And now he’s alone, the only person who might be on his side is Shou, who believes he could do better, but even then after everything he probably doesn’t believe he deserves that second chance. 

Reigen probably, definitely, hates him at first. I mean he basically tried to kill his student, he manipulated Serizawa for years, he was terrible to Shou. of course he doesn’t like him. Now idk exactly how they’d meet again, but I do think Toichiro had an interest in Reigen from the moment he saw him, it’s not everyday a powerless man walks up to you with all the confidence he can muster, and with a gun he knows probably won’t work, and dares to shoot you with it then seconds later try to punch you. All to save one student. (well technically to stop him from taking over but still Reigen was mostly worried about Mob in that situation) He definitely earned his respect.

No matter how they meet again, I think things develop slowly, reigen grows to like him more when he sees Toichiro put genuine effort into changing. And I think toichiro appreciates reigen giving him a second chance despite his distaste for him. They’re both lonely people and that allows them to connect further. 

One thing that drives me crazy is that in a character interview for Toichiro they ask why he married his wife and he says because of her big heart, and then when I look at Reigens character profile it says that he has a kind heart, so i 100% interpret that to mean Reigen is definitely his type and he loves Reigens kind heart. But I also think that means he might feel he doesn’t deserve to be with Reigen. Someone so kind shouldn’t be with a villain like him, but everyone changes, it’s only constant in life. So maybe he has a chance. 

I also like to think of them in terms of the sun and moon dynamic, but they’re both suns. Reigen, I think of him like a nurturing sun, warm and comforting. While Toichiro is a burning inferno, a sun that burns everything it touches. But that’s a much simpler description than what i said before.

I also just think they’re cute. I love the angst of it all, the loneliness, the self loathing, n stuff, like maybe Toichiro still yearns for his wife and is just using Reigen as a distraction from her (and yet maybe he falls for him anyway). Like I love that idea, but I think the idea of a more stern and serious Toichirou with the more easygoing and silly Reigen (i know reigen has his serious moments too but compared to Toi he’s sillier)without any of that angst, is just a fun thing to think about and one of my favorite ship dynamics. Anyway Idk if any of this really makes any sense or if I described it well, I feel like I could keep writing but I don’t wanna ramble too much. Also thanks for asking nicely, I understand this ship isn't a lot of peoples cup of tea

You guys ready for me to hyper analyse character design to decide family linkages to support my own fun theory/headcanon?

This image is a lot of my connections but here’s a summary/ some additional points.

Obv I know I’m clutching at straws here but let me have this, it’d be cool for plot, and it will be cool for headcanons anyway.

Almost all imps I’ve seen have unique horns, all quite easily identifiable. Even fizz and blitzø who have somewhat similar horns, Fizz’s horns sorta just drape down like long ears, whilst Blitz’s are like up and curled quite a bit more than his.

And from what we’ve seen with Moxxie and crimson and Blitz and his dad, clearly there’s a correlation between horn shape and family as father and son had very similar but slightly different horns. So why does Striker have the same horn shape that fits in with the pattern of Crimson and Mox?

And also, the idea is absolutely plausible logically too. Striker is a hybrid of an imp and a shark demon. Crim literally lives surrounded by shark demons, and he’s a shit enough person to cheat on his wife, if they were even married at that point, idk the age gap of mox and striker. Although I imagine if that was the case, Crim never found out about Striker and striker never found out about Crim.

Also the hair similarity is kinda just trying to flesh out the theory but it is plausibly similar! And the horn similarity imo is absolutely not ignorable, especially that slightly pointed stripe on Crimsons horns and the fact his horns have shapes seem on both mox and striker- it just seems so goddamn intentional. And the golden tooth- ik that’s like completely irrelevant to genetics but cmonnnnn you’re just teasing us.

Ik if I was trying to hint at characters potentially being related, this is the kind of shit I’d do. Pinch a trait each off the parent to share between the two siblings.

And I feel like it’s more possible story wise cause of the instant relationship between Striker and Mox. They immediately butted heads, which is like….yeah, it could just simply be for the fact of the rivalry, but with that relationship in place, how fucking cool would it be for them to suddenly throw in ‘yeah btw you’re brothers’. And also I don’t think they’d bond over it. Striker wants Mox dead 10x more. Mox hates him too but also probably wants some sort family reunion but also Striker is definitely teaming up with Crim.

And ik Striker hinted at Goetias doing something to his family, which might be an argument against this but like, they could’ve done something to the family he grew up in. He probably didn’t even know crim was his dad, and if he had a new father figure in where he grew up, he probably just assumed that was his dad, without suspicion. And there’s still a chance he’s completely lying about that, I wouldn’t put it beyond him. And also he only said “everything he cared about”, not specifically family. We could be talking about anything here.

Noone: I really want to know more abt her through the podcast like when she brought up her parents to Otto I got exited but then she got brushed off. I do wish we knew more about her though.

The Ferryman: The art style in the comics is so beautiful like wow I love it sm. The ferryman’s design is so spooky but I just don’t like him. He’s a creepy kind of guy, and he scrutinizes those poor kids like they’re fish at a carnival.

Alone: I don’t like the new designs. They’re too much for me. I like the simpler designs of the first three games and I feel like the third game is a little much. I do feel like Alone is gearing up to be a girl boss type of character and I really hope she isn’t canonically shipped with Low. I think they’d be better as friends.

RCG: If all the kids met up I feel like she would be the mom of the group. I also hc she’s the oldest like fifteen or something. Idk I haven’t played the mobile game.

RCG x Pretender: There’s a lot of arguments between this ship but I feel it could be cute if it was an AU where all the kids were in the real world like feral responsible child x entitled princess. I would read the shit out of that.

Monix: I don’t have a problem with the ship it’s just the fandom is so vile sometimes like they’re minors. Calm down. I’ve read some really nasty fanfics when I thought they would be innocent and I’ve seen some suggestive fanart that just gives me bad vibes.

Mono: He seems like the kind of kid who would eat dirt for fun. I vibe with people like that.

How i think the batfamily acts after getting their wisdom teeth removed

written by someone who’s had to have both their top and bottom wisdom teeth removed at two different times because the world hates me and wanted me to go through it twice i guess

okay so first of all bruce, this man has an insane tolerance for pain and tbh i think the only person able to get him to listen to this doctors instructions is alfred. and it’s not like he’s ignoring the instructions on purpose, he just isn’t really aware of how much pain he’s in because of his pain tolerance so he pretty much assumes he’s just healed faster than normal (also he doesn’t swell much for some reason so again, he just kinda assumes he’s fine)

next up, dick! tbh i feel like he’d legitimately have a bad time with it. idk why but i just think he would. he’d get super swollen and sore, and probably wouldn’t be able to talk for a few days without some kind of pain. although he absolutely would take advantage of everyone doting on him to get whatever he wants. it helps that he looks like a chipmunk for like a week after getting his wisdom teeth removed and the pictures make great blackmail material

and cass! cass and barbara come home one day with cass looking super swollen. everyone’s super worried bc wtf!!?? turns out she asked barbara to take her to get her wisdom teeth removed bc they were causing her some pain. that’s basically it, she’s a bit swollen for a bit and in some pain, but otherwise she heals fine. she does sorta take advantage of everyone looking after her, but honestly she just kinda chills in her room to recuperate while she reads and catches up on some shows she’s been wanting to watch.

now jason. okay listen, hear me out. he originally gets both his top and bottom wisdom teeth removed after being taken in by bruce. his experience is sorta average tbh, maybe a bit slow on the healing part of it bc of his already recovering health from being a street kid. but after he comes back from the dead and gets chucked into the lazarus pit he starts getting some pain in his mouth. turns out the lazarus pit regenerated his wisdom teeth. so basically jason has to get them taken out twice and no one will let him live it down

next on the list is tim. tim probably gets his taken out after he looses his spleen so someone sticks with him 24/7 just to make sure he’s healing properly and shit. it probably takes him a bit longer to heal and i feel like he would have a bit more pain than average but otherwise he heals perfectly fine. he probably tries to stay at drake manor at first, but dick convinces him to stay at wayne manor so that they can keep an eye on him.

okay now steph! she’s the only person in the batfamily that doesn’t need to get both her top and bottom removed. she just needs to get her top wisdom teeth removed and everyone hates her for it because they all had to do all four. like dick, she totally takes advantage of everyone doting on her while she heals. she spends most of her time at wayne manor just sprawled out on one of the couches and makes bruce buy her the best ice cream money can buy.

okay now for damian. he straight up doesn’t need to get his wisdom teeth removed. like they aren’t a problem at all and he brags about it constantly. although, jason ends up punching damian in the face when jason got his removed for the second time and damian made fun of him for it. he spends the next few days moping on the couch with an ice pack pressed up against his swollen cheek while jason sends him shit eating grins.

and finally duke. my younger sister had to get her wisdom teeth removed before getting her braces on bc she had to do another surgery on some other teeth and they figured they’d just do it all at once to get it over with and i feel like duke would be the same. so like he’d get his wisdom teeth removed at like 13/14 and just have an average time healing. when the other batfamily members ask him about his wisdom teeth he just shrugs and goes “i got them removed years ago” which makes the rest of them upset because they like having blackmail material of how swollen people get after getting their wisdom teeth removed and they can’t do that with duke now

What’s your opinion on cross guild? I’m sending this on anon because I kinda hate them while everybody loves them. I think it’s because Buggy is my favourite character and I just can’t see it as anything other than abuse😭 Do you think their dynamic will change? Is my opinion based on unconditional clown love?

i think the fanon toxic polycule concept is kinda funny? like, the idea of buggy continuing to fail upward in life into a triad with two very powerful people who started out hating him? hysterical. does it have a strong basis in canon? no. just about every buggy ship has to be taken with a grain of “let’s ignore the reality of the situation here” salt. my own buggy ship is not immune to this! but cross guild… really needs that seasoning.

in canon it’s more a hostage situation than a relationship—albeit a pretty slapstick hostage situation, as despite their best efforts mihawk and crocodile cannot control buggy or his followers at all, and the injuries buggy takes are treated pretty lightly by the narrative.

in that context, it makes sense that sexual interpretations of cross guild would have strong vibes of either bdsm or ipv. i’m not surprised it’s upsetting for you.

in the end, it’s something i could be convinced to read a mundane au about, where dynamics are always softened to better fit the setting, but that’s about it for me re: the trio. i don’t expect their dynamic to change much, even if buggy manages to rope them into going along with his one piece questing, and i don’t much care.

now, the pairs within the trio?

crocodile and buggy is just “give me my money” -> flight response -> threats of violence -> fawn response -> actual violence -> desperate fawn response. good god. i get why it brings out certain impulses in certain readers—buggy begs to lick the man’s boots, ffs—but it does not really do anything for me, and i don’t expect that to change. crocodile wants money and power, which buggy respects because same, but as he has less of both he can’t really offer crocodile much of anything, and crocodile seems very aware and disdainful of that.

buggy and mihawk is theoretically very fun for the same reason luffy interacting with either of them is fun: they all have a connection to shanks that makes their interactions with anyone else who knows shanks so weird. they cannot be normal about that guy. in practice, none of that has shown up, we’ve just seen mihawk offended by buggy’s personality/reputation/aesthetic and buggy flinching away from his glares. (i can’t imagine mihawk punching someone, so i suspect all of buggy’s injuries came from crocodile… probably because the only way mihawk could actually hurt buggy would be with lethal force.) i’m hopeful, as has been indicated in previous mihawk posts, that we’ll get something more here eventually.

mihawk and crocodile legitimately made me go oh, hm in that first cross guild chapter. crocodile calls this guy up out of nowhere to say, “hey, i notice your job security kinda sucks right now, want to join my company? we have a lot in common… we both hate other people…” is there a history between these two, or did crocodile just get good vibes off him the one time they both bothered to show up for a warlord meeting? i want to know more. if these two ever get rid of buggy, would they actually be any good at managing baroque works 2: crossy guild? idk. i suspect without a scapegoat to redirect their anger onto they’d start having unavoidable personality conflicts, regardless of their managerial competencies, but even that could be fun to watch fall apart.

Explaining AJ part 2 🦇

Ok this is mostly going to be explaining her relationships with the rest of the cast 

it all starts with Mimzy

Obviously, AJ knows the other overlords via the meetings and such but I don’t think she cared much for them and half the time she wouldn’t even show up to meetings but I’ll get into that and the second

With Mimzy being a flapper and AJ being a punk, they’re essentially both the mold breakers of their decades, which I feel like they’d be able to like bond over in a sense. Mimzy flair for stirring up trouble also gives AJ more excuses to act and violence, which is her favorite thing to do.  they’re an odd pair aesthetically, but I feel personality wise they bounce off of each other surprisingly well, what can I say AJ loves an instigator 

Speaking of instigators, a friendship with Mimzy opens the door to A.J. friendship with Alastor although friendship, feels like too strong of a word wouldn’t really call them acquaintances though idk

They already knew each other via overlord meetings. They just never interacted before it Mimzy got involved.  in pointing out they Surprising amount similarities.

Such as

• Hyperviolence

•Having a very specific unknown moral code 

•Despising, one of the vees (i’ll get into that in a second)

•Being aroace 

•Hating being told what to do 

And of course, Alastor becomes endeared to her because he’s a girls girl and AJ is a freak and those are his two favorite things 

Now about the Vees, starting off with vox 

I think it’s a really funny, running joke that Vox keeps obsessing over the aroace who want nothing to do with him (I found Alastor a little too relatable, i’m also aroace and I also have been put in the situation of ‘hey I don’t wanna date you please leave me alone’, so this is me venting a bit. because I feel like it’s way too often portrayed from the allosexual‘s perspective and how it’s sad and tragic but in reality, it’s just fucking annoying and inconvenient)

Anyway, vox is a pathetic bisexual disaster, but then again, what else is new I just think it’s really funny that his taste is the most sophisticated man you’ve ever seen and and a woman who looks like she fought her way out of a dumpster 

(also, you can tell that these sketches with Vox are older than the rest that I’ve shown because it was before I fully committed to curling Alastor’s hair just a fun little fact )

Now moving onto the V that AJ actually hates 

It’s velvet, but you of them are the youngest overlords if I had to roughly guess I’d assume velvet died around 2003 or so 

And most of their beef is really entangled in fundamentals of what they stand for

Velvet is a conformist. She participates and creates trends. She lives by the mold, and even when she’s breaking it, she’s breaking it to establish a new one valve it stands out, doesn’t stem from anything important or anything she believes, and she does it for the notoriety and the look she is fundamentally shallow and she likes it that way

AJ, of course being punk opposes all of that she breaks the mold because it is inherently flawed and believes there shouldn’t be one in the first place she’s alternative not to be cool or stand out from the crowd it’s because of what it represents for her her punk identity is deeply important to her Because when she was alive, she fought for change (she was really hyper violent about it and let her anger cloud her judgment a lot which is why she she is in hell) but that’s neither here nor there 

The point is, they are opposing forces on each other’s identities. They despise each other out of principle, and because they genuinely fucking hate each other.

The two of them, rile each other up like there’s no tomorrow  and when left alone together will do something crazy

Rosie- friend of a friend, AJ and Rosie get along fine. The only issue is they have nothing to talk about so they constantly need a third person as a buffer usually Alastor

She will take every opportunity she can get to try to dress AJ up though there’s no stopping that woman

I always wonder why the vamps in true blood didn’t have a grand vampire conspiracy when they came out of the coffin! They couldn’t have been stupid enough, knowing how much human hate each other, to think they’d be accepted with open arms especially when the hatred of vampires is kind of justified? I thought maybe the conspiracy would have been ‘We cant get our numbers up quickly while in hiding, so we need to create this fake act of ‘were just like you’ , come up with synthetic blood that we ‘can live off of’ to put the human at ease (would also be kind of fun to later reveal that true blood isn’t enough to sustain vamps), we can increase our numbers more quickly, and build impenetrable day barracks to help get to our eventual goal of overthrowing the humans’ This could have even been the central story of the vampire authority, you could even have it so there is a huge point of contention with the authority members (Also side note I wouldn’t have the fucking authority in New Orleans like bffr how big of a coincidence is that! they’d be in London or Italy or even literally anywhere else in North America)! Some of them wanted to have the humans live more or less normal lives (obviously the vamps would take over the government etc) as long as they met their daily blood quota, and some of them think of humans as cattle, to be bread, eaten and used how they see fit! That would be MUCH BETTER than the stupid billith shit

ALSO, the fae storyline pissed me off because honestly why did they under-power the fae that bad?? couldn’t they just make it so that the light they possessed was pure harnessed sunlight and could kill a vampire within impact! When she disappears to the fae realm at the end of season 3, instead of a bunch of storybook characters they could have made the fae fucking Warriors! Maybe they even know about the vampire plot and are actively working to stop it because they’ve tried before, and the fae and vamps (and other supes with differing allegiances) went to war because of it! they nearly decimated the fae, so the few remaining escaped to that pocket dimension, but also the vampires suffered incredible casualties and were greatly outnumbered by the humans so they went back into hiding! The fairies spent since then (let’s say 5000 years) recouping their numbers by mating with humans and bringing the halflings to the realm to train them for the war to come! Imagine how fucking cool it would be for a season 4 sookie to be a fuckin bad ass, who spend lets say like 3 months (I’d make the time dilation to fit the same timeframe she was gone) training in hand to hand combat, the use of her powers etc! I’d open season four with no explanation where sook was, but we know that she’s come back a year and 8 months later! If they wanna do the witch plot, we could have it so it’s later revealed that sookie is back as a recruiter, but we are at this point still in the dark as to why sook is recruiting, or anything to do with the vampire’s larger plot! Idk I have a whole rewrite in my head to replace season 4-7 lol because I’m NUTS!

wicked (2024) x4 obsessed with this. I just think it’s fun and pretty! I get so swept up in it that it feels short despite the runtime. I think my favorite bit is how much cynthia erivo is not doing an idina impression for even a second. I’m not complaining about how influenced ariana is by chenoweth but her performance is like clearly influenced, so cynthia not running that path stands out to me

venom: the last dance (2024) made me laugh fr when maroon 5 played idr anything that happened before or after now because that was so startling

iron man (2008) so I hadn’t watched this in like a decade easily. it is more critical of tony’s history as a weapons manufacturer than I remember but honestly the two things that stands out to me are howard stark because I’ve often quietly wondered (not enough to look it up) why the fuck they cast two actors who look nothing alike to play the older and younger versions of him but in this movie suddenly the younger casting makes sense. and number two pepper being sooo aggressive to this woman talking about taking out the trash like!! they were both being weird for no reason??? over a man?? I hate the 00s

Furlan had had enough.

The constant bickering between you and Levi was grating on his nerves—and, quite frankly, slowing them down. Whether it was over strategy, supplies, or who got to sit fucking where, you two found something to argue about. 

He sat at the edge of the rickety table in their shared hideout, arms crossed as he watched you and Levi go at it—again.

This time, it was about a supply run that had turned into a shouting match over whose “plan” had been better, despite the fact that they’d both technically worked.

“You’re a control freak!” you snapped, jabbing a finger toward Levi. “Not everyone wants to solve their problems by staring someone into submission.”

“And you’re reckless,” Levi shot back, “half of what you do is guesswork. Lucky guesswork, at that.”

Furlan let out a long, exaggerated sigh, cutting through the noise. “Okay, enough. I swear, you two bicker more than old married couples in the market square.”

You and Levi turned on him at the same time. “Stay out of it, Furlan!”

“Oh, trust me, I’m in it now,” he replied, a smirk tugging at his lips. “And I’ve got the perfect solution. You two are going to work together—alone—on the next deal with Garret.”

“What?” you and Levi said in unison, disbelief written all over your faces.

“You heard me,” Furlan replied, crossing his arms. “I’ve got other things to handle. You two go negotiate with Garret for the shipment. It’s simple—no need to overcomplicate it. Maybe you’ll figure out how to act like grown-ups in the process.”

Levi scowled, his arms tightly crossing over his chest “That idiot Garret hates me. Why the hell would I go?”

You snorted, unable to resist the jab. “Man, I wonder why. Could it be your sparkling personality? Or maybe it’s because you called him a halfwit the last time we dealt with him.”

Levi shot you a glare sharp enough to cut through steel. “He is a halfwit,” he retorted flatly. “I was just pointing out the obvious.”

“Well, the ‘obvious’ almost lost us the deal last time,”

“Do you ever shut up?” Levi growled, his eyes narrowing as he stepped closer, his voice low and laced with irritation.

“Do you ever lighten up?” you shot back, your tone dripping with feigned innocence. “It’s not my fault Garret would rather eat glass than talk to you.”

Furlan sighed dramatically, pinching the bridge of his nose as he watched the two of you square off. “And here we go again,” he muttered under his breath before raising his voice. “Exactly,” he said, “so, figure it out.”

Levi glared at him, his jaw tightening. “You’re serious? That idiot won’t even let us through the door without starting something.”

Furlan gave an exaggerated shrug, completely unbothered. “Then don’t give him a reason. Or better yet, don’t let yourselves be the reason.”

“Easier said than done,” you muttered, earning another sharp look from Levi. “Also, that’s rich, coming from the guy who’s conveniently skipping out on this.”

“Exactly why I trust you two to handle it,” Furlan replied smoothly, his grin practically glowing with mischief. “Think of it as a learning opportunity—team-building, if you will.”

You narrowed your eyes, folding your arms across your chest. “Sometimes, I wonder why we keep you around.”

“Aw, don’t be like that. You’ll miss me when I’m gone,” Furlan teased, already turning to leave. “Good luck. Try not to kill each other before you get to Garret—or after.”

The moment he was gone, the tension between you and Levi crackled like a live wire.

“Fantastic,” you muttered, throwing up your hands. “Nothing like a forced bonding exercise with someone who’s incapable of being pleasant for more than two seconds.”

Levi’s glare didn’t falter. “Just stay out of my way, and maybe we’ll get through this without killing each other.”

“No promises,” you replied, your smirk returning. “But I’ll try to keep you from saying something stupid. Again.”

He let out a slow, frustrated exhale, pinching the bridge of his nose like he was reconsidering his entire life. “This is going to be hell.”

And somehow, you both knew he was probably right.

Despite your protests, Furlan was resolute. The next day, you found yourself standing next to Levi in the dingy, dimly lit meeting room of Garret’s warehouse.

Garret himself was a young man, weirdly handsome and, with a suspicious glare, his arms crossed as he sized you both up.

“Well, this is new,” Garret muttered, his tone flat as his arms crossed over his chest. “Usually, I only have to deal with one headache at a time. What gives?”

You opened your mouth to answer, but Levi cut in, his tone sharp and to the point. “We’re here for the shipment. You’ve got it, or you don’t. No need to drag this out.”

Garret’s eyes narrowed, his body stiffening at Levi’s bluntness. “Right. Of course,” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “Wouldn’t want to waste your precious time.”

You stepped in quickly, leveling a calm smile at Garret. “Levi means we’d like to wrap this up efficiently. We both know your shipments are top quality—we wouldn’t trust anyone else.”

Garret’s lip twitched, but it wasn’t quite a smile. “Sure. And I suppose he’s here to glare me into giving you a discount?” His tone turned icy as his gaze shifted back to Levi. “You know, your attitude’s half the reason people hate dealing with you.”

Levi crossed his arms, his expression unreadable but his presence radiating tension. “Maybe if people didn’t waste my time, I wouldn’t have to deal with idiots.”

“Levi,” you cut in, your tone low and measured, though irritation flickered behind your words. “We’re here to negotiate, not insult the guy who controls the shipment.”

Garret laughed bitterly. “Oh, please, by all means, keep bickering. It’s very entertaining.”

You turned to Garret, your patience starting to wear thin but your tone still steady. “Look, we’re not here to cause trouble. You want professionalism? Let’s talk terms. We know what your shipments are worth, and we’re ready to pay fair.”

“Fair?” Garret’s brows lifted in mock surprise. “That’s a word I don’t usually hear from people like you two.”

Levi’s jaw tightened, but you stepped forward slightly, cutting him off before he could say anything. “We’re serious about this deal. And I think you are too, or you wouldn’t still be standing here.”

Levi scoffed, his sharp gaze cutting to you. “You’re wasting time. Garret doesn’t care about your sweet-talking.”

“And you’re not helping by acting like you’ve got a knife to his throat,” you shot back, your voice low but heated. “Do you even know what ‘negotiation’ means?”

Levi’s eyes narrowed, his tone dropping further. “Yeah, it means not overcomplicating things. Maybe you should try it.”

You crossed your arms, stepping closer to him as your irritation bubbled over. “And maybe you should try not pissing off the one guy who can get us what we need.”

“Keep your voice down,” Levi hissed, his posture stiffening. “You think you’re helping, but all you’re doing is proving you can’t handle this.”

“Proving—are you serious?” you snapped, your voice rising just enough to earn a sharp glance from Garret. “You’re the one stomping around like you own the place!”

“Better than acting like a lapdog,” Levi muttered, his tone cutting.

“Lapdog?!” you echoed, your eyes narrowing dangerously. “At least I know how to talk to people without making them want to kill me.”

Levi opened his mouth to fire back, but a clap interrupted.

Garret tilted his head, studying you for a moment. Then, with a sharp wave of his hand, he signaled his men, who moved to block the door, locking it with an audible click.

“Here’s the deal,” Garret said, his voice dropping. “You two can sit here and work out whatever your problem is. When you stop acting like a couple of kids fighting over a toy, maybe I’ll come back and consider doing business with you.”

Without another word, he strode past, his men following close behind. The door shut with a thud, leaving you and Levi alone in the tense, dimly lit room.

Levi exhaled sharply, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Fantastic,” he muttered. “This is why I hate dealing with idiots like him.”

You shot him a sharp look. “Maybe if you didn’t treat everyone like an enemy, we wouldn’t be locked in here right now.”

“Maybe if you didn’t feel the need to jump in every five seconds, we’d already be done,” Levi countered, his voice cold.

Fuck you asshole—and while we're at it—fuck you too Furlan.

Levi’s jaw tightened as the sound of the lock clicking into place echoed in the room. “Perfect,” he muttered, “I told you to let me handle it.”

“And I told you to stop being such a—” You paused, gesturing vaguely in frustration. “Whatever it is you’re always being.” Arms crossed as you leaned against the wall.

"This is exactly what happens when you don’t listen.”

You scoffed, pushing yourself off the wall. “Oh, right, because glaring at him and barking orders would’ve totally worked. Great plan, Levi.”

“Yeah? How’s that diplomacy working out for us now?” Levi shot back, glaring.

You rolled your eyes. “Whatever. Let’s just figure out how to get out of here, genius.”

His sharp gaze snapped to you, your restraint only fueling his resentment. “At least my plan didn’t involve stroking his ego like he’s some Underground king.”

You raised an eyebrow, arms crossing tightly over your chest. “No, your plan was to piss him off and get us locked in here. Real smooth.”

“You’re the one who couldn’t keep your mouth shut,” Levi shot back, stepping closer, his tone low and clipped. “Maybe if you’d let me handle it—”

“Handle it?” you cut him off, throwing your hands up. “The only thing you’re handling is your own ego. Not everyone folds just because you give them the Levi glare, you know.”

He stepped closer, his voice dropping even lower. “And not everyone’s swayed by your half-baked charm, either.”

The two of you stood toe-to-toe, the tension between you thick enough to cut. For a moment, neither of you spoke, your sharp breaths the only sound in the room.

Finally, you exhaled sharply, breaking the stalemate. “Fine. Let’s just figure out how to get out of here before Garret decides we’re not worth the trouble.”

Levi gave a faint scoff, shaking his head as he turned away. “Maybe for once, try not making things worse.”

“Right back at you,” you muttered under your breath, though your tone lacked its earlier fire.

“Both of you, shut it,” Furlan’s voice crackled through the barred window on the door.

You froze, realizing Furlan was listening in the entire time. “Furlan?”

“Yep,” he said smugly. “Garret’s actually a great buddy of mine. I asked him to help me teach you two a little lesson in teamwork. Don’t worry, you’re not actually in danger.”

Your jaw dropped. “You’re kidding me.”

“Not even a little,” Furlan said, his amusement clear. “You’ve got one hour to figure out how to work together and get out. I’ll be watching.”

Levi exhaled sharply, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Unbelievable.”

“Better start cooperating,” Furlan added before the line clicked off.

Forced to rely on each other, you and Levi began working through the problem. Tensions ran high at first, with your usual sarcastic quips and Levi’s brusque comments clashing at every turn. 

“What now?” you asked, leaning against the wall.

“We get out,” Levi said simply, already inspecting the locked door.

His calm determination only annoyed you further. “Oh, brilliant. And here I thought we’d just sit here forever.”

“Do you ever stop talking?” Levi muttered, crouching to examine the lock more closely.

“Do you ever start?” you shot back.

Despite the bickering, the two of you eventually fell into an uneasy rhythm.

Levi’s methodical approach balanced out your impulsiveness, and your knack for spotting details he missed proved surprisingly useful.

Slowly but surely, you began to realize that, annoying as he was, Levi was good at what he did—and, begrudgingly, he admitted that you weren’t half bad either.

As the minutes ticked by, the frustration between you dulled into something more focused.

Levi knelt by the lock, studying its mechanism with a precision that bordered on obsessive. “It’s jammed. Cheap work, though,” he muttered, his tone clipped but oddly calm.

You crouched beside him, holding back a snarky remark for once. “Let me try something,” you said, leaning closer to examine the lock.

Levi raised an eyebrow but shifted slightly, giving you room. “Don’t break it,” he warned.

“Not planning to,” you replied, pulling a thin, improvised tool from your pocket. With a few careful movements, you felt the lock give, the faint click of success echoing in the tense silence.

Levi straightened, his sharp gaze flicking to you. “Huh. Guess you’re not completely useless.”

You raised an eyebrow, smirking. “Coming from you, that’s practically a compliment.”

He scoffed, his eyes narrowing slightly, but didn’t argue. That was as close to a win as you were going to get.

When the door swung open, it revealed Furlan leaning casually against the wall, a smug grin on his face. “Well, look at that. Teamwork really does make the dream work.”

You glared at him, but Levi brushed past without a word, muttering something about how this whole thing was a waste of time.

Furlan chuckled. “You’re welcome, by the way.”

You crossed your arms, shaking your head. “Next time, you’re getting locked in a room with him.”

“Fair,” Furlan said with a laugh, clapping you on the shoulder. “But admit it—you two make a pretty good team.”

You didn’t reply, but as you watched Levi’s retreating figure, a small part of you wondered if Furlan was right.
