I even went as far as to slap some parts of the post in Google Translate encouraging Spanish qsmp fans to reply to me and I'd just have someone translate their analysis for me. But anyway yeah. Missa's characterization has been lowkey my biggest concern writing the fic tbh. I wanna do him justice. He definitely isn't written as a pathetic woobified uwu cinnamon roll, that's for sure.

I've been staring very hard at the paragraphs people gave me on his character and I THINK I've been doing a decent job at balancing the "gets overwhelmed by things" wet cat side Crows see AND the "um actually he could kick your ass and can be a bitchy little shit" reality?? Mans is getting lots of moments where he's like "fuck this" and gets ready to Literally Fight God. There's still lots of tears, but like, if YOUR husband was in front of you covered in his own blood and lookin like he's rapidly wasting away in real time, you'd be an emotional wreck too. So I'm decently confident in his characterization, but I still have that "AAAAA I HOPE I'M DOING THIS RIGHT" worry. 100% gonna be clinging to comments from readers about if I did him justice. So far I've characterized everyone (Phil, Fit, Etoiles) super well according to readers. 😭🙏🏻 Hoping I keep up the streak with Missa in Chapter 3.

You know how like. You know the official eng translation is going to be fun to read (or painful. depends on how much you care about the character) when it literally hits you with the very first sentence being translated in a weird way. I respect the queen bee symbolism, but like.. Maybe it's just me, but "I told you I'm queen" and "I knew it! See? I win!" give off very different vibes to me?

The original mentions Muu being talented, but I went with "I was born under a lucky star", kind of like a reference to her being pretty, rich, popular, all of that, and her "natural talent" can count as that too.

I overall tried to make these lyrics sound more.. maybe playful? Maybe more like a teenage girl? I didn't really want to make Muu sound like a villain, so I kinda. Made this translation more soft compared to the official one, maybe?

"You know it's not my fault" is also kinda supposed to be sort of like.. Muu is sort of going "Don't you know it's not my fault?" in the beginning of the chorus, but then she sounds more assertive and goes "No, actually, you KNOW it's not my fault". That was my vision.

"You wanted to forgive me, it's true, I've seen it all" is kind of a fun fourth wall thing. If I'm not wrong, the original mentions everyone wanting to forgive her as well, but here I also kinda. Made a little reference to the voting system. As a treat <3

THE ORIGINAL DOESN'T MENTION MUU "DOING THIS JUST BECAUSE SHE'S BORED"?? I THINK?? Instead, the original mentions someone who Muu ended up hurting doing something to offend or annoy her, so i tried to include that. AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE ARE JUST THE SAME MUU. The original makes so much more sense, since it's like. an eye for an eye and all that stuff..

in light of the previous anon's ask, are there any confirmed/canon ships in jjk? i just got into the series this year and i've seen a lot of people claiming satosugu is canon, as well as yutamaki.

There aren't really many, if any canon ships in jjk now that I think about it??? There seems to be something between hakari and kirara but nothing has ever been officially confirmed.

They are both very popular ships, but neither satosugu or yutamaki are canon. I understand why lots of people ship them though.

I'm not 100% sure but I think a big reason for lots of people saying stsg canon is due to the 'my one and only' line in jjk0, but that is actually exclusive to the viz translation.

The direct jp to eng translation is 僕の親友だ。たった一人のね -> "It was my best friend. The only one I have"

Viz's version, 'my one and only', still technically works but tbh I kind of feel like they worded it like that on purpose, almost borderline queerbaiting, but yeah.

Aside from that the ship does have lots of other things going for it tho! Definitely an important relationship in the series and whether people would like to interpret it romantically or plantonically is up to them. As far as 'canon' goes I'd say it'd be platonic (as of right now with the information we have).

While love is a very prominent theme in the series (the most twisted curse of them all, 'teaching' sukuna about love, ect.) I feel its mostly explored in otherways than romantic. Whether it be familial, platonic, or whatever. jjk is definitely not a romance focused series, so I'm not sure if we ever will see any canon ships explored. I guess mechamaru was heavily implied to have a thing for miwa, but.. . well, we know how that ended 💀

tbh, this my fav picture, it is located next to the passage to the "rooms", or rather behind the cabinets 60 doors. almost every run I check the picture, today was no exception.

so, these changes have me thinking.

i knew earlier that the guiding and curious lights are connected. still there were very immodest common features between them - the characteristic form of light (before the update with a special screen saver after death); the same dialogue after death, although coordinately different, but the dialogue; the very fact of power in a certain universe … well, in a sense.

i stick to the assumption that the curious light can travel between different universes (backdoors and the hotel, the portal at the end of the backdoors, teleporting us to the beginning of the hotel instead of the usual lift) and consider it canon in principle, at least for myself.

but I thought before 4 some reason that the guiding light is more…important ig. he can talk about the mechanics of the hotel entities and looks like he really understands what's going on. but the curious light on the contrary - tells us almost nothing after the end of the run and is like ‘oh…well…you r dead……. mehh…..’ xd

if talks abt red or the "evil, or "mischievous" light (idk how correctly, well idc neither, name that how ya want), i literally found out abt them on these day. not much to say about him, only that in the new update his candy scared me a lot for the first time, it was funny (I didn't realise they always had a death debuff on them or almost minus full hp ughdamngod)

on the new variation of the painting we can see that the symbol of the mischievous light is much larger than the others known to us. i have a couple of hypotheses about this:

1) maybe this painting reflects the ego of the curious about himself, or a straight flat context of elevation and stronger possibilities in the form of travelling between matter and its offshoots.

2) it could also be a special lore and it could be used as the origin of these three, as a pre-canon in short. mb the curious light created these two and for some reason put them in different universes instead of him (hypothese). the curious light - in a hotel, and the naughty light - in different variations of the hotel with modifiers.

3) Based on the second point, I would also like to say that there is no way for the mischievous light and the curious light to overlap. (I do not consider the red glow of the seek as a mischievous light, only as a hint to help the mischievous light to him, btw, so perhaps the crucifix and doesnt affect the sic, as on other entities. the figure does not count, maybe other reasons for this, or maybe the same mischievous light… although I did not observe the figure of this, not the topic of my monolouge). but the curious light can be present in the hotel and in the branches of the hotel with mods (even tho the mischievous light doesn't let us in abt 60 door, lol).

придерживаюсь предположения о том, что любопытный свет может путешествовать между разными вселенными (backdoors и the hotel, портал в конце прохождения backdoors, телепортирующий нас в начало the hotel вместо привычного лифта) и считаю впринципе это каноном, хотя бы для себя.

но все же я думал почему-то что путеводный свет более.. важнее что ли. он может говорить о механиках сущностей отеля и выглядит так, будто реально понимает, что происходит. но любопытный свет наоборот - почти ничего не рассказывает нам после окончания забега и типа такой "о..ну…ты сдох……. мда…" хд

говоря о красном либо же "злом", "озорной" (называйте как хотите, я ваще не уверен ахах) я чуть ли не на днях узнал. нечего сказать о нем, только о том, что в новом обновлении его конфеты меня сильно испугали впервые, это было забавно (я не думал, что на них всегда дебаф смерти или чуть ли не минус фулл хп блен)

на новой вариации картины мы видим, что символ озорного света намного больше остальных известных нам. у меня есть пару гипотез об этом:

возможно эта картина отражает самомнение любопытного о себе, либо прямой контекст возвышения и более сильные возможности в виде путешествием между материями и их ответвлениями.

также может быть это лор особый и от этого можно отталкиваться как о происхождении этих троих, как предканон короче говоря. мб любопытный свет создал этих двух и по какой-то причине поставил их в разные вселенные вместо него (предположение). любопытный свет - в отель, а озорной свет - в разные вариации отеля с модификаторами.

исходя из второго пункта, хотел бы еще сказать о том, что ни озорной свет, ни любопытный свет никак не могут пересечься (я не считаю красное свечение сика как озорной свет, только может быть как намек на помощь озорного света ему, кстати поэтому возможно крест и не действует на сика, как на других сущностей. фигура не в счет, мб другие причины этому, а может тот же озорной свет.. хотя не наблюдал за фигурой этого, не суть) но любопытный свет спокойно может присутсвовать и в отеле, и в ответвлениях отеля с модами (хоть озорной свет не пускает нас к нему, лол).

oh no problem i don't think it was like a terrible post on the relative scale of internet takes, but op pissed me off lol like a native canto speaker spoonfeeds you info and you just refuse to engage with it. it's not even being curious it's just dense as hell. they eventually came around but man the reading comprehension-

anyways the canto accent—idk how to describe it tbh. some of the syllables sound more canto? like the way they're broken up and which words get more emphasis etc. tons of ppl (on bilibili) said it sounds like very realistic/authentic "guangpu" which is shorthand for cantonese accented standard chinese. the best example of this imo is when he says ���领嘛 (běnlǐng ma) in the suanni papercut teaser; the stress/emphasis on each syllable like separates them a lot more than in mando? ben and ling especially sound sharper when he said it, like if you use more force w your tongue/lips to pronounce the b and l sounds. i am not a linguist so this could be completely off (but there's more unrelated talk about canto vs mando under the cut)

the more explainable thing he does is use phrases that aren't used in standardized mandarin. 我埋单(wo3 máidān) ("my treat" in eng dub) is a canto phrase—i think(?) mandarin speakers would say 我结账 (wo jiézhàng). 埋 means bury in mandarin, but in cantonese it can mean to close/settle (accounts), or come together (as in closing a wound). closing the check in this case ig. importantly 埋单(canto) and 买单(mǎidān, mandarin) do not mean the same thing (unlike i originally thought haha), even though the tones are v similar

he also says 勤力点 (qínlì diǎn) during the suanni trailer which i assume would be 尽力点 (?) (jìnlì diǎn) in mando, they both mean the same thing (to work hard) it's just diff words. qin is the first word of qinkuai 勤快, hardworking

his 喔 (wo, filler word) and 哪(na, also filler word, except he says it like 那哈 na ha to me lol) also just sounds so canto jfsdkfj. they both exist in mando and are used but idk the pronunciation sounds a bit diff?

This likely won't help much, since ga-ming spoke accented mandarin, not entirely cantonese, but if you're curious and want to hear the differences between standard mandarin and canto, you can go to https://fanyi.baidu.com/#zh/yue/ and paste some chinese text into this, and click on the speaker/audio button at the bottom of the text boxes to hear it spoken. the left is mandarin, the right is cantonese. if you'd like you can also paste the text into google translate, which will give you the mandarin pinyin. i extracted some of gaming's most noticeable lines here if u wanna try. Honestly, it might be more helpful to listen to his lines in mandarin and then listen to gaming's version to see if you can hear any differences, because his audio from the livestream is a lot closer to mandarin than cantonese

Bit of an update!!!

So the reason I have not been uploading in this account...was because I wasn't playing the game for....1 month? Ever since my last post.

I was more focused on completing my exams, and had to reduce the number of games I played, so that I can use that time to study more.

Anyways a lot of things have been going on ever since I was on hiatus. A lot of events...lot of cards...I haven't even finished Al's route yet. lol

So I have to finish that first...

Now that I have more time...IDK what should I do with this account. Should I keep posting translations? Because translations take time and Ikevil is also coming in Eng this year anyways, which makes me even less motivated to translate the stories. IDK what to do now.

From what I observed Treehouse removed entirely anything that had to do with body image. They removed that for Seadall, but also some support about Goldmary talking about wanting to lose weight as well and they also removed any mention to physical beauty. I am not joking. For example, they removed one line in Ivy's diary talking about her beauty. They also made sure to translate Céline telling Celica that she is beautiful by "how marvelous", or Rafal's S support where we from "you find me attractive, I get it !" to "I may possess superficial charm"... I think it's in reality to not hurt the "body positvity" movement by presenting "fatphobic" content because of course not wanting to gain weight immediately translated into being fatphobic ! (did they forgot where the game they translate comes from ??)

And again, to know whether or not Seadall has ED we should have someone familiar enough with JPN culture and eating habits reading his original support to tell us that. But with the current Eng dub, you can't make such conclusion. It would be like using Peri as an example of badly written mental illness when a lot of what Peri's says in the ENG version doesn't exist in the JP version. However, if JP Seadall was indeed supposed to be read as having ED... well, that clearly doesn''t help Treehouse's case AT ALL.

But tbh, it's not the only mark Treehouse missed. After all, they still managed to make people believe that the platonic Veyle/Alear S support was romantic in JP when they literaly are the same freaking conversation, almost translated literaly but of course, they had to add Alear and Veyle saying and repeating over and over "WE ARE SIBLINGS HAVING A SIBLINBS CONVERSATON ABOUT DEEPINENING OUR SIBLING BOND IN A SIBLING WAY LIKE NORMAL SIBLING DO BTW DID YOU KNOW WE ARE SIBLINGS JUST BONDING AS SIBLINGS IN THIS SIBLING CONVERSATION SUPPOSED TO HELP US BUILT A NEW BOND AS SIBLINGS?" like come one, we really didn't need it, it was already obvious in the JP version that it was platonic, do you really believe we need Alear and Veyle to hammer it down our throat ? TBH I ranted a few years ago about the localisation and the direction Cherami Leigh received to dub Rhea, and, uh, well...

I don't think she hates the character or anything, she just goes with the direction given, but man what a load of crap Pat told her lol - she made an interview where she says Pat told her Rhea has a hair-trigger temper (tfw she only loses her shit when you try to reenact the genocide she escaped when she was younger - but nah it's just a hair trigger temper) and how Rhea "just is", something we know is bullcrap because she's the same person who's insecure about "bothering" people if she eats with them, Rhea isn't the assured person she tries to pretend to be, but Pat dgaf.

Regardless of the meaning of the quotes, if you have time to spare of the feh wiki, just compare the delivery of lolcalised!Rhea and Inoue!Rhea (her Halloween alt is telling), they're like night and day - but in the game proper, we have the fe datamine website !

Short story : Lolcalised!Rhea isn't supposed to emote bar being AnGrY, monotone (that line where she worries about Aelfie's plans in the DLC could be swapped with her reading the notice of aspirin) or have 2 lines where she's relaxed (billy supports) - Jp!Rhea is allowed to be upset, to mourn, to be worried, cheerful etc etc.

I've already complained a lot about FE16's lolcalisation, cultural bias at play and wanting to soften a certain character, but to exaggerate only a little bit, I have the feeling Rhea was portrayed in the lolcalisation (and not localisation, the lol is very important) as the ultimate bogeyman of the "dictatorial evil leader of an organised religion who is also a zealot and does not tolerate dissent because she's religious" which has...

idk, but serious issues because again, if you are supposed to localise a product you cannot edit something red to be something violet and sparkly and if the shitstorm (that ultimately came from a misunderstanding!) about "creative localisation" is any indication, more and more people are fed up with lolcalisations altering the meaning, not of a word, but of a game to suit their own agendas.

A friend earlier noticed that the NoA official website - where you can buy the game (digital version) - adverstises Fodlan as a land controlled by the Church of Seiros. Oddly (lel) enough, this "controlled by the Church of Seiros" crap of a tidbit doesn't appear in the japanese website, and even in the european ones!

I don't believe we got another version compared to the Treehouse version - even if at times, the french script is closer to the japanese one and at times they come up with their own bullshit - but there is a point to be said that in a certain part of the world, the game was advertised in a way that kind of fit a certain's characters POV, something that doesn't exist in the rest of the world. And it's in that same "part of the world" that the person who directed the VA for the eng dub, well, worked and directed said VA.

i think one is бараболя (bahrahbólya) which is one of the words that mean potato, we have at least like 10 different ways to say potato across the country (and according to wikipedia there are sooooo many different versions). im not from one of the regions that typically use this word but i think its fun :) and i love potatoes

german, im begging. bc i live in germany and its pure hell not to speak it well 😭 i would also love to learn spanish, korean, dutch, and/or norwegian at least a bit more because i know some of the most basic things about these languages but like not even nearly enough for it to mean something. and not to speak of the other languages that im interested in but know nothing about!! its so exciting to me i love languages (but rn german is more than enough stress for me tbh)

this question and the next one on the list confused me a bit bc i don't know what the difference is supposed to be, like should i translate eng -> ukr or the other way? i figured the second option would be a bit more interesting so here goes: one of the songs i really like is "Де ти є" by The Hardkiss, the first verse goes something like "i left my pass to you at home, now i'm unknown with only the sky left that you and i wanted to get drunk with. i'm gonna remain myself whatever it takes, i will forget the route where you and i used to get lost and share kisses" idkkk this entire song has so many interesting choices from both lyrical and phonetic standpoint, when i first heard it i was amazed 🥹

i still dont know about these bc i dont use them but i tried to think of just like any phrases at all and the first one that came to mind is дати драпака (dáty drahpahká) which basically means to run away in a non-serious way (usually negative) and its so funny to me idk 😭

Anime au stuff IS so much fun! Right now I’ve been thinking about doing smth based off of norn9 bc it’s one of my fave otomes that also has an anime, and I’d write it in a multifandom way so I can write for more than just certain members from one group ✨✨ I also kinda considered doing one around collar x malice, another otome but I’m more on the fence with that one.

amg yes! Hahaha Gakuen Alice was one of my childhood faves it’s basically about students who live in an academy (the eng translation of GA is Alice Academy) and they have magic known as Alice (like it’s their talent) and the students are categorized based on their alice’s element/how dangerous it can be I think? Basically the highest rank gets you the best privileges at the academy. It’s been awhile so I have to restudy bc the concept is really good!

The anime’s plot is about mikan who has a nullifying alice so everyone was like ??? Why are u here? And they thought she was an anomaly bc their talents don’t really work on her. She followed her best friend to the academy but since alices are a hush hush secret she didn’t know her bestie has this special gift. So she ends up staying there and makes friends and changes lives. it’s a really cute anime 💗 very classic shoujo

I love how CoS show us a flashback of Rufus getting yelled by his father for worrying over him & then his father getting angrier when he says that he was wrong to doubt him.

Shinra sr saw his 5 year old son as an extension of himself & his legacy who somehow already should have grasped the nuance of corporate politics in his narcisstic trip.

So why should he even explain this kind of stuff when he could just threaten him to be replaceable while also tying his worth as a person about whether he will be a successful heir or not.

Then fast-forward to Shinra sr not understanding why his son grew up rebellious with a naïve thinking on how to rule because his environnement lacks of humanity, in constant disagreement with his father's methods about how Shinra should be ruled, seeing his father's as competition to the point he was willing to finance an eco-terrorist group without thinking about the possibility they would betray him.

Shinra sr "tough love" attempts backfired as Rufus as it fostered within Rufus that rebellious attitude as he may have subconsciously associated that admitting his mistakes to his father would mean dealing with potential abuse. That " Fierce Pride" of him is a defense mechanism.

Good thing however, Rufus is, unlike his father, has some capacity for self-reflection when he gets to see the consequences of Shinra's actions, acts up and learn to be a capable leader in time of crisis despite his shortcomings, growing from a man of greed into a man of duty with still some self-serving side to him step by step throughout the compilation.

The 🕷⛓ episodes should have been dubbed by now but I'm terrified of watching them because while the VAs of Kurapika and Chrollo are good or at the very least ok most of the time the adaptation of the dialogues... is not......

Edit They messed up Chrollo's monologue in the rain...

Also bad translation aside why did no one tell Federico Di Pofi that he's supposed to sound contemplative and not sure of himself here...

Edit 2 they messed up the "he put a nen blade in my heart" line...

Edit 3 they messed up Nobunaga telling Phinks to trust Pakunoda because it's Paku and they messed up Pakunoda's last thoughts...
