This is my first year writing fanfiction, and I didn't start until May, so this is less of a 2024 wrapped and more a 7-months-of-hyperfixation wrapped, but...! It's cool to see the numbers all together...

Some of yall know absolutely nothing about hallucinations and I highly encourage you to do some research on it. And I do not mean the once off hallucinations, I mean hallucinations that some people have regularly.

Not putting a diagnosis label on it because many different disorders will have hallucinations and I don't have any answer for my own at this time.

When it comes to visual hallucinations I do not know that I'm hallucinating a lot of the time, most of the time I'll be having what is seemingly a normal conversation with someone to me and no one understands this.

Also telling someone that is experiencing hallucinations that you can hear or see it aswell is so cruel and in no way funny

Work has me very beat unfortunately but I actually do think I want to talk about Hotaru’s relationship with money because I’m remembering this is something I studied (it has never been relevant until now).

Hotaru did not grow up with a lot of money. Single mother, renting, that sort of thing. The setup wasn’t as bad as one would imagine in some parts of the world and Hotaru’s mother worked extremely hard to make sure that the lights stayed on and that bills were paid. I wouldn’t say it was particularly tumultuous for Hotaru, but I will say that it did further alienate him from some of his peers who were more well off.

Hotaru also wasn’t raised in an environment of financial literacy. I just don’t think it was a conversation that his mother and him ever really had because it wasn’t something that occurred to her to teach.

I think Hotaru did end up in a bad financial situation with Sadao and that Sadao did end up controlling Hotaru’s finances when he dropped out of medical school. There wasn’t really a steady income source for him and he didn’t want to ask his mother for money, so it further pinned him in with Sadao.

Hosting brought him some money but not. A lot. Hotaru did not start out good at hosting. And hosts don’t make a lot of money when they first start out. Pennies, actually. I do recall an interview with a host who recounted that he slept on the floor at his place of employment because he didn’t have anywhere else to go.

As for whether or not that was Hotaru’s case, there’s a bit of a yes and no to that. When he broke up with Sadao he was slumming it up with one night stands, customers, hotels. There was a period of time where he didn’t really put roots down because he was testing the limits of his curse to see if there was anything that could kill him.

He did keep these self destructive habits up, but when he got more popular he did get a real apartment. He lived horribly though and spent more than he made because he was so entrenched in hedonism and the want to die that he was hoping the next order of pills or alcohol would be the thing to make his organs shut down.

I’ve touched on it before but adopting Susu was what made him get his act together because he didn’t want to raise a baby chinchilla in a den of sex and drugs and sweat.

Hotaru also cleaned up his finances a LOT. He was in debt for a bit prior to fully transitioning into ESCAPE but when he did, he made his priority paying off debts and cutting ties with those in his past life. Started saving more and trying to be responsible. The more popular he got, the more he saved to where he ended up buying his mother a better house.

Nowadays he makes more than he knows what to do with and also lives well below his means. He doesn’t live the host lifestyle of fancy watches and cars and penthouses and luxury. He finds it exhausting and it just reminds him of one of the worst times in his life.

He’s pretty financially stable and responsible nowadays and has a savings fund for potential medical school. He doubts he’ll ever go back but it’s aspirational in case he ever changes his mind.

Wow a Hotaru fact that doesn’t end on a sad note! Tbf, I do roleplay him when his life is on the mend a bit because for as much as I love angst and horror I get fatigued if literally everything is dogshit in my muse’s life. So I hope these facts about him don’t feel voyeuristic and sadistic but instead more like, “yes, these terrible things happened to him and they still hurt him to this day in a lot of ways because trauma isn’t so quickly dismissed, but he’s made a lot of progress since then.”

I just.. wonder how Boyd would deal with negative emotions sometimes.

Imagine him being unable to bring himself to forgive Akita, even though he is trying so, so hard, but he just can't do it. And not only that, he actively resents him, he legitimately hates him in the pure definition of the word. And he's so afraid of that feeling. "Am i a bad person?" He wonders, his system trying so hard to process these feelings.

He always hears that "good and kind people forgive no matter what", he sees that same message in so many pieces of media and literature. He doesn't want to be a bad person, but he can't forgive someone who hurt him and his family so much.

"Am i a bad person?" He asks Gyro, looking at the floor, bracing himself for the harsh truth.

"Nah. I hate that cunt too."

Honestly, best advice I ever got is that it’s not supposed to hurt. Most things in life are supposed to be uncomfortable at most, and if you are in honest-to-god pain from everyday activities, that means that something is wrong.

And so Dion leaves to rescue this prince. What he does find is little more than a rabid dog.

He’s massive for one, far taller than Dion with muscles that look less like they were trained and more like they were chiseled. Upon witnessing the dominant his eyes lit up with a childlike excitement.

“A visitor. I never get visitors, especially not royal ones.”

Before Dion could respond the young prince brandished his sword, excitement growing tenfold. “Tell me, are you stronger than my father?”
