#idk that theory just feels like a way for people to justify their love for Dutch

The theory that Dutch went “crazy” bc of his head injury on the trolley doesn't really hold up. I say this as someone who has endured multiple life-altering head injuries. To change someone's personality like people claim it did Dutch's, it would have to be an incredibly severe injury, not just a minor concussion.
I can think of one medical case where this occurred to such an extent. It was Phineas Gage where his personality changed completely. And guess what caused it? An iron rod went all the way through his head. So, the likelihood of Dutch's minor head injury being the cause of his behavior in ch4-6 is very low.
Personally, I think it's as simple as Dutch was a manipulator, knowingly or not. And when John and Arthur were slipping away his tactics of manipulation fell through, hence his change in behavior.

I came across this paper:
https://www.academia.edu/71372307/Trans_masculinities_embodiments_performances_and_the_materiality_of_gender_in_times_of_change
I'm not well-versed in academic language so I can't really understand all of it, but it seems kind of gross and condescending, especially when it's using testimonials of transmasc's desire to be seen as men to, idk, prove that masculinity isn't really queer or something? I'm curious how other (smarter) people would interpret it.
I mean, your understanding of it is just as important as mine! I'm happy to add my thoughts, though.
My understanding is that their thesis is essentially "masculinity is related to maleness and the male body specifically, and we know that because transmascs want to have male bodies". They allow for some nuance here in references to other literature, and I agree with that angle of their argument overall, but their premise is fundamentally flawed in the exclusion of trans theory and trans narratives.
Like, yes, masculinity is in some way related to appearance and the "male body", and there are a lot of reasons for that! But is the dysphoria of trans people really ironclad "proof" of what maleness and masculinity are? And why don't they spend any time talking about what dysphoria actually is, what trans people think it is, why trans people think they feel the way they do, or what trans academics have to say about any of this?
I have a lot of other issues with this paper as well, and I could probably write a paper just as long as theirs going into all of the reasons for that. But I think that answers your biggest question; what they're trying to prove, how they're trying to prove it, and why that comes across so weird.
To your other question ("is it condescending?"): I think this is kind of subjective overlay, but the way they go about analyzing their data is pretty condescending, in my opinion. They tend to frame their participants' responses as kind of misguided or ill-informed, particularly Diniz- who they definitely discuss as "trying to justify his choices" to identify as nonbinary while also seeking medical transition, like this is inherently contradictory and must therefore rely on some kind of delusion or desperation. It's weird!
I do also want to point out, briefly, that they also really cherrypick which claims they bother sourcing, and how they try to back them up.
They argue that trans men have male privilege based on the opinions of, like, three of their 30 total participants- and then carry this as "fact" through the entire paper, uncontested. That's extremely fucking weird and super suspect in a paper like this! I just wrote my own qualitative research paper based on interviews (which is what this is), and it's pretty standard to acknowledge the limitations of your research, and to position your results as non-definitive. Like, that's been a major part of every discussion with everyone I've talked to about my research. I would not have been greenlit to receive my degree if I hadn't been careful to avoid framing my research the way these people frame theirs.
The other weird thing they do is cherrypick statistics- or rather, one single statistic- to "prove" that transmascs do not suffer as much as other trans people, or possess some kind of privilege. They only cite murder statistics from one source; apparently that's the only relevant metric for quantifying all oppression? They also fail to acknowledge any possible shortcomings of this statistic, like the issues of under-reporting and misgendering of transmasc victims.
I could go on; I have a lot of gripes. But I think your criticism is totally valid, this was a weird and frustrating read.
Also curious if @genderkoolaid has thoughts- you tend to talk about gender studies from an academic position more, and you probably have a lot more field-specific expertise than I do. I'll boost other additions too, I love a good academic discussion!

Hogwarts legacy headcanons
While normal people go and socialize I wake up and think about ✨them✨
So there's some headcanons about my favourite Legacy Team (as I call them) for ya folks while I'm writing a really big fic about them. Careful, some of them are sad. And don't mind my poor grammar thanks.
Btw, collages are mine, feel free to use them💙
🐍Sebastian Sallow🐍
First off all, if you turn him in, I don't trust you
Literally a typical Slytherin
A nerd. Just a nerd.
Quidditch? Babe, the only sport for him is dueling
Felt absolutely helpless when his parents died. And that's why he's so protective. He just can't let anyone else die on his watch
Really is a small version of his father and proud of it
Believes that the end justifies the means
Hopeless flirt BUT a gentleman. Wouldn't do anything you don't like
And also most probably believes in true love
A proud bisexual
Everyone think that "he fucks everything that moves" but he's a virgin who "saves himself for the one and only"
As some fan said, he was probably born on 18th September. And it's a canon now.
A great friend but a terrible secret keeper, so for Merlin's sake, don't tell him ANYTHING
Knows how to braid hair into the most complex ways
Pro feminist! Treats women right and knows all important stuff thanks to his sis
Tumblr media
🔥Natty Onai🔥
I'm sorry but she's so underrated and for what??
I believe she really respect traditions she were tought as a child
Her favourite holiday must be her birthday. All because it was the only day of the year when her parents forgot about all the dangers and sorrows and they just got together, spending the best time
Most probably will return to the homeland after Hogwarts
Is the only member of the team who play quidditch
(as a keeper ofc)
She's a lesbian idk dudes
A very honest girl who were raised to be a good person
So she just expects the same from others
A very competitive. But not like Imelda. Natty respects fair competition and knows how to honorably recognize a match
Although this does not mean that she will not destroy you to win
Is always cold poor thing
Religious bc I feel like it
Has mommy issues and don't tell me I'm wrong
Will definitely become the best auror one day
Tumblr media
🌼Poppy Sweeting🌼
Her favourite holiday is Christmas lemme tell you that
Trust issues
She's trying her best to be gentle with every living being because she saw too much violence already
And that's why she thinks animals are better than people (agree)
She's definitely an INFP and I won't change my mind
Looks like a cinnamon roll but will kill you
A cliché but I feel like she's an excellent cook
Although she would LOVE to find someone to understand her (like us) she's totally okay with being on her own
Is into mind games like chess
But will go to see a quidditch game just to support Natty (and mc if they play)
Is always up to an adventure
Bullies? Girl grew up among killers, you really think she would care about some bullies?
I feel like she has the strongest personality in here. Doesn't matter what happens she will always stand straight while helping others
Is a cat person
Can't cry bc she was not allowed as a child
Tumblr media
💚Ominis Gaunt💚
Just an innocent little boy let's be honest
He may look like he can kill you but he's just a cinnamon roll
Jokes about his blindness as a defence mechanism
Had a crush on both Sallow siblings at some point and I can't blame him
Saw a theory on tiktok that his patronus would be albino snake. CANON
Just wants to have a simple quiet life without any drama
Protective of his friends BUT is more protective of his boundaries
Don't mind his blindness he knows EXACTLY how to be a fashion icon
Another cliché: Omi can play piano
And it's the only thing his parents tought him that he loves. Playing helps him to calm down
Is very private, but as soon as he starts to trust you, he will immediately blurt out his life story, dreams, fears etc
Though he can't see an actual game, Omi likes to go on a quidditch game, because of the happy energy around him
Is sick most of the time for some reason. Cold, stomach ache or anything really
Also a nerd. But unlike Sebastian he's a fiction lover. Helps him to escape reality, especially in his family's house
Clingy with everyone he loves bc they make him feel safe

Why didn't he protected them
Is actually difficult for me to discern because Vegeta and Bulma went from getting close to each other and starting to trust each other enough to be intimate, even if it was just for the sex, to Vegeta not caring if she and baby Trunks died at all, and Bulma being very distant from Vegeta while still being in a relationship. And I don't believe the thing some say that he didn't actually cared for her or didn't actually noticed her in a deeper way until much later (basically the idea that Vegeta was just Trunks sperm donor and only was with Bulma for the sex), nah. diss's moch complcated, i swear (nah not really, I just want an excuse to talk more about my obsession). (Note that I watched the latin version so my interpretation of the characters and context might be different from the English version).
I'll talk about these event and about saiyan culture regarding babies, Vegeta and Bulma's relationship during the Cell saga, and how Vegeta might have felt towards Baby Trunks and Future Trunks.
//////////
Saiyans, family and culture
The popular idea is that yes, he was a major jerk by letting Bulma and Baby Trunks almost die at the start of the Android saga, and yeah, he actually was. But one thing that people often forget is that he is not human, he is a saiyan, and that kind of behavior wasn't that abnormal for his culture/species. Is actually expected.
I mean, Saiyan's used to send their babies (the weak ones) in capsules to other planets to pop out of the ship, project an artificial moon into the sky and start making havoc for months until everyone was dead. If the baby survives they will later go to the planet for him eventually to claim the planet and sell it, and I guess later reintegrate the little saiyan into their society again. Like a rite of passage just to acquire the right to live, otherwise they just die unceremoniously. (And it was a way to try to hide and justify mass child genocide by taking out the "weak genes" out of their population just like a Spartans would... *clears throat").
Even Bardock was like that (pre retcon because i will use the saiyan lore of the era to explain something of the same time period of it's creation). While the others were like "hey! You got a baby kid! Aren't you going to go to planet Vegeta to check on him? How about a celebration or something", and Bardock is like "NO. Who would want to visit a low class soldier like that, I'm not r-[redacted]" (man... DBZ Bardock was a different animal entirely, i freaking loved him). (I have the theory that Raditz was actually in the lower end of high class soldiers. maybe will talk about it in another post).
Tumblr media
Anyway, yeah, that's basically the way of thinking of saiyans. A little bit like Piccolo's tough love type of survival training with Gohan but even more savage and detached because if they died and it was their kid it was gonna suck really bad and hurt a lot their pride but what had to happen happened since they cannot get involved in those first years and cannot go save them, end of story, make another baby, maybe the next one will be stronger. They just had babies to send them off, and they have a blood relation with each other but they didn't had the concept of a family, not exactly, like humans would have, usually though, because once again the royal family did had those kinds of bonds to precisely preserve their lineage and secure their babies would born powerful above everyone else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course we all know Bardock was still worried about Kakarott and he wanted to appear tougher with his teammates, he was worried the same way every other saiyan does it in a very distant manner to not get their feelings get in the way of their job as warriors (I mean, he did passed by the nursery in his hurry and stopped to check on Goku while he was there after all). Much like King Vegeta himself who said that he didn't care about what happened to his son, Vegeta, after some saiyan royal adviser (or knight, idk) asks him if it's true that he will have to give his son to Frieza because Vegeta was going to be real in danger if he did in the flashback in the Frieza saga. He wasn't going to say "yes i do feel terrible for my son and it hurts me deeply" even if he was absolutely devastated, he says that he doesn't care because he cannot appear weak, and because it was also true what he said about being more angered by how Frieza had them under his thumb, in that moment he was decided to confront Frieza so he couldn't let himself feel.
And later Vegeta himself said he didn't cared about his race or his father to Dodoria when he was revealing the truth about their planet's destruction while at the same time is true that he was angered about being lied to and about being kept in their control since childhood . The thing is Vegeta doesn't care about the actual people of his race but more about what they represent and are supposed to be, only those who are saiyan in blood and meaning are worthy of calling themselves saiyan, that's why he doesn't revive them but he does care deeply and is proud of it, just in another level. And regarding his father we know he was lying because every time he remembers him in the series he does it fondly and with a lot of pride, like when he's outright telling Goku to avenge their parents, or when remembering him to give himself confidence that he will be able to become Ssj. Is not like they don't "care", but they have to be intelligent about what to reveal so it cannot be taken against them later and to a degree convince themselves on getting detached from many things to keep their fighting instincts up front and take decisions with their heads cold whatever had to happen. Just like we hear him say all terrified in Namek when Krillin got impaled by Frieza "What an idot!...That's what happened to him for paying attention to that Namekuseijin! (Dende)", and then after Gohan looses his mind and knocks Frieza down momentarily Vegeta tells Gohan "Don't loose your time worrying about him! [Krillin]. Do you think Frieza was going to die with that?!". Is what they don't say and try to hide (as we see explicitly with Vegeta when confronting Frieza he purposefully hid the existence of Goku from him and lied, making Frieza believe that Vegeta himself was the only saiyan survivor left but in his thoughts we hear him say "and Kakarott...").
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vegeta's priorities
Same can be said of Vegeta with baby Trunks, i would believe. Their children are their legacy in a way after all, and like an extension of themselves and their own ego. But what made Vegeta forget the feelings and pride he might have had with Bulma and Trunks to not even being a thing that was important is literally everything else going on around him at the same time in those years. It was a very conflicting era for him in several fronts, specially related to his place in the world, his newfound freedom from Frieza's hand since he was a child, him getting used to a new life in another culture, another planet, other type of people, his love relationship, his place as a saiyan in relation to the other few of his species, his title as prince among the low class saiyans that had surpassed him by this point and not by little, his twice stolen destiny to be the the legendary super saiyan that now that he became one as well he had to demonstrate he was the better Ssj among them, the news of him getting killed in the near future in another timeline by just some rando earthling androids that somehow were stronger than Frieza and that the android he defeated (19) alongside the other one (Gero) weren't the right ones, he was really pissed about it and starting to get worried, they couldn't sense the androids by their chi (ki), it was becoming a mess, and he absolutely HAD to be the one that would kill all the androids all on his own to go back to his rightful place in the power scale. Is quite the heavy burden.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, family? his son? Bulma? ultimately they were at the end of the list of his priorities. And that is very clear thorough this entire first part, even when he was officially in his relationship with Bulma.
Bulma
That's partially why Bulma was attracted to him in the first place though, because he was extremely determined in his ambitions, she respects that, and saw how deeply it was hurting him when he had that training accident and was subconsciously talking in his sleep. She was going to carry that responsibility for him so he could focus on himself. That's why she doesn't reclaim him anything or judges him on things related to that other than jokingly. She knew what she was getting into and has always known. Unfortunately she isn't that responsible of a person herself though. That's why she herself puts her own life and Baby Trunks life in danger, because she is just as determined and obstinate, and Vegeta knows that as well, that's why he doesn't "care", because he respects her decisions as well (and ultimately can't do much about it either). If she wants to put their own lives in danger because she thinks she's up to their game is her responsibility then, not his, and he cannot get involved because he has a job to do regarding himself and his own battles, he had to be detached. Also he was annoyed and fed up with Bulma's stubbornness since he already told her not to be a stupid and do stupid things like put herself in danger way before when Frieza went to Earth, and now she's doing it again (the first time he thought it was hot though (it was so funny that he looks back at her and then talks to himself all thoughtful like "Not only she's vulgar but she's aggressive/daring too", translation -> 'I might like this chick'), but this time is a not cute at all). I don't think it was something personal, not even the "[..] foolish woman and her blasted child" thing, like he says in the english dub, he had more important things he had to worry about. What he says to Trunks in the latin dub is "What stupidities are you saying. I don't care in the slightest, you idiot" (i wish I could have found the japanese one but it is what it is and is the closest I have to it) so he doesn't say mean things to Bulma or Trunks specifically. The interesting part here is to think if Vegeta was saying "I don't care" because he actually didn't care, or "I don't care" not because he didn't but because he couldn't. Vegeta is terrified of feeling and has always been. And yes, I say he was absolutely right because what saiyans try to avoid by giving too information and care is exactly what happened and Gero used her as a distraction, blasted the place and with it Bulma's ship and escaped thinking that they were going to be too busy saving her to notice where he ran to. Still a dick move but I cannot blame him too much. So yeah, it is very much in the tone of if Bulma thinks she can be in the middle of the battle field then so be it, if they survive they'll prove themselves not to be to useless after all, if they die it will suck but it had to be for being idiots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being a warrior
Vegeta is a warrior first and foremost. And him being a warrior is why later he is excited to see Cell's perfect form, just like Goku (being a pure blooded saiyan) he cannot contain himself from seeing what immense power looks like, and dares Future Trunks to attack him if Trunks had the balls to do it in order to stop him. Like "bro, are you really gonna to go against your pops? prove it. That's why Future Trunks cannot comprehend him, because Trunks is part earthling and cannot fathom someone getting excited about fighting for the sake of fighting itself and proving one's self where power is the only thing that matters. And why Vegeta cannot stand Future Trunks either, because F Trunks fights for justice and peace.
Baby Trunks
About Baby Trunks, we can only speculate of course but I would assume baby Trunks was conceived right after Vegeta became super saiyan (?) because later in the Buu saga kid Trunks was able to become Ssj without any effort just like Goten (who was definitely conceived during that week Goku was in Ssj the whole time), while present/future Gohan and Future Trunks had to get the transformation the OG hard way like their fathers. I guess future Trunks did accidentally change the time where he would be conceived in the present timeline by just a bit since we do see that Vegeta becomes Ssj in future timeline, probably after Goku dies (he was present with the others in Goku's house when he died and Bulma already had Baby Future Trunks with her) and before the androids appear in the future timeline as we see him transformed to fight, though that's still my speculation.
I think even though Trunks was still a baby maybe there was a way for Vegeta to sense his initial power level (? I'm just assuming some things here). And I don't remember exactly when did saiyan babies were packed and sent to planets to conquer them (maybe a few months old and expected to destroy the people in the planet in around 6 months from arrival having Goku and Earth as an example in the Bardock special) but Baby Trunks definitely doesn't look powerful or very strong regardless, not compared to Vegeta himself as a baby. And Vegeta knew that the mix between saiyans with earthlings produced a stronger breed but just look at this little guy, he looks more earthling than saiyan without much promises, might as well not have much saiyan blood in him, he didn't had his black/dark hair, he wasn't even born with a tail. And also was being treated... well like a baby but an earthling one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He probably was conflicted about the whole baby thing, specially by how he was taught on his saiyan side despite being from the royal family (since the royal family is one of the few that can actually have familial ties similar to humans), and how being now on Earth his perfectly normal for a saiyan actions were taken from an earthling perspective as not being adequate, but he couldn't entertain the thought for too long since the androids were gonna kill everyone if the warning was true anyways.
Vegeta didn't really considered Baby Trunks to be someone he should put any attention to. Although deep down he cared to a degree as in being an extension of his pride and how Trunks was ultimately "representing him" as his son. How that affected his relationship with Bulma too in this time period is important. Like, he seems angry that Bulma tells him that his presence made Trunks cry after his fight 19, and that is quite mean for her to say that to him, but he can't reply anything to her and just tch's and looks away all annoyed but doesn't say anything or fights her on it, so i can imagine he was feeling conflicted about how to act or respond on top of everything that he had to think about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pride on Future Trunks and school of hard knocks
Only when he discovered that the mysterious badass warrior from the future was his own son, the one that he was dismissing, then he started to quietly and secretly take pride on who he would become and started to pay attention to both F Trunks (in his own saiyan way) and much later to Baby Trunks because babies are not viewed as important in saiyan culture, still focusing on the battle first. Much like Bardock when he started to have his visions of Goku right at the very end of his life he started to view grown up F Trunks as more of an equal rather than competition, and seeing him grown up made it easier for him to bond. And so Vegs is like ".... Fuck yeah".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Look at my son, Cell. He's not as cool as me but he's damn close" lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He of course was also very prideful and wouldn't bother with any family related stuff the way Bulma (and F Trunks) were pressuring him to be, and she kinda was ridiculing him about it (jokingly though, never seriously) just to evidence him and kinda "hit him over the head" for his behavior. And his natural reaction is of course to appear tough in front of everyone else, like Bardock, like King Vegeta, and like his usual self, and throw all that family nonsense out the window. He still was very prideful and had to keep a face, but that is what would come bite him in the ass hard later on.
(look at Krillin's face though. In the latin version Bulma yells here and tells Vegeta "What are you trying to do Vegeta! If you get close with that 'few friends' face Trunks will start crying again like before!", and Krillin looks at Vegeta with a face that says -Dude, she hits you back at home, doesn't she- (that's not funny... but it's kinda funny))
Tumblr media
Trunks took the wrong way Vegeta's actions. He wasn't purposefully ignoring him, he didn't had time to bond or make him understand his methods, or teach him spelling everything out for him, at least the way he knew how to do it which is by the saiyan way, which was never going to work the way he remembered it because Trunks is half earthling, and that's something Goku also partially fumbled up with Gohan and his Rage form, but Vegeta was actually trying to teach Trunks the hard way. Vegeta was trying to actually come up with strategies, occupied on bringing solutions to the table that Trunks couldn't come up with for years in just the few days they had. Goku definitely knew it. Trunks is all "my dad has been on that rock for 3 days and he doesn't even look at me or train me" and Goku is like "shit! Vegeta is a Genius! He's trying to find a way to surpass the super saiyan", and Trunks can't understand what's happening while the two pure blood adult saiyans are talking. Like, remember the scene where F Trunks attacked Vegeta? Vegeta was actually trying to parent as a saiyan there, and feeling proud of Trunks before and after Trunks attacked him because he actually did it. He called him stupid and all but it was always accompanied with a lesson he wanted Trunks to learn, even if it was only to make him learn respect Vegeta's place as his father (and Trunks eventually came to respect him despite his shortcomings).
Tumblr media
Vegeta and Bulma
Anyway... regarding Vegeta and Bulma though, I love how Vegeta talks to Bulma with such familiarity during the Cell saga (i just wished... the time skips didn't happen so quickly because it would have been excellent for character development outside of battle with small everyday stuff and hijinks...), and it does feel like he recognizes Bulma's intelligence and respects that aspect of her, he calls her by her name (which after 3 years I would hope he does but last time we just hear him call her "woman" so it was nice to hear him call her by her name), but then when Bulma starts to spit toxicity towards him or starts to act like she has her ego through the roof (which funnily enough is very similar to Vegeta himself when he feels confident and with his ego higher than the sky), he just looks like he's thinking "well you just can't find the off button, do you" (lol, it reminds me of home).
It actually reminds me a little bit of how Bulma and Yamcha's relationship was, on and off of Bulma being angry and with Yamcha and re-conciliating again, just this time is with Vegeta, but in Yamcha's relationship he was the one that just got all the (maybe undeserved) anger from Bulma and he didn't really had the balls to confront her because he's Yamcha and he's a nice guy but he doesn't have spice (like he used to as a bandit), while on the other hand with Vegeta is a constant battle for power in the relationship. They both act mean with each other, and even if it's not actually meant to seriously cause harm they can get get hurt and often do simply by the nature of how they relate to each other and communicate, with insults, sarcasm, back handed comments, ironic remarks, double meaning, either is to twist the knife where it hurts or even to be playful and flirt in a friendly manner, is almost never straight forward and i really can't picture them, specially Vegeta, saying that they love each other directly and explicitly but they don't have to. That's just how they are, is their game, because neither of them is willing to back out, they are both asses, though Vegeta is the one that normally does back out in the end in favor of keeping peace because he is the one that has more to loose even if it's by convenience and to keep his access to Capsule Corp and all the commodities at this point, and because he respects and admires Bulma too, he does love her in his own saiyan way and doesn't want to loose that bond he's made with her as the only other person he managed to trust and be open with (the other being Goku). (this scene is priceless and i just wanted to put it here. Is filler but i just don't care, it officially exists and is part of the collective that is DB and is good).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bulma was ok with Vegeta not being present in their lives and only focusing on her baby, encouraging little Trunks in small ways to start developing some strength. She's always been her own woman after all, independent, confident, intelligent all on her own, always being in the middle of the conflicts since time immemorial to be part of the team too against whatever is menacing Earth. While at the same time is clear that Bulma is proud that her baby is Vegeta's because is a symbol of their deeper connection (and love if you will at this point), aaaaand because of the potential he has as a fighter and the status he gives her among the ones that know who Vegeta is (bragging rights, lol), and also brag about his perfect very cool and handsome son's genes. She was like "yeah Yayirobe, drop the child if you want, but be ware that that child is Vegeta's". (I swear that sometimes I wonder if Vegeta is the one in an abusive relationship full of toxicity, lol, the answer is they both are but flawed as it was it's what they both needed and what worked for them). (and i love this bit where Trunks falls to the ground trying to learn to walk and Bulma looks at him like "i'm not gonna do anything about it, get up on your own". Some of Vegeta is rubbing off on her, hehe).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trunks was an accident?
About the baby, in a way Bulma and Vegeta, ever since they decided to engage sexually, were aware of the possibility of a child being born from both of them but had already accepted whatever outcome destiny had in it's plans regarding a possible offspring (when before Vegeta was very clearly against it for the fear of having a child that could be stronger than him to usurp his title and place). And to that i want to add that Trunks wasn't really planned by Vegeta in particular (I'm more sure that Bulma might have desired a baby from him after a certain point because she always fantasized with Goku once she saw him all grown up but "lost her chance" as she puts it, and now Vegeta represented another chance to have a badass baby), but that doesn't mean Trunks wasn't expected like many people believe (that Trunks was an accident). Vegeta had agreed with the consequences long before he knew they were pregnant, so no, i don't believe he was an accident as if they didn't thought having a baby wasn't going to eventually happen simply because they were having sex and a baby is to be an expected high chance result, but neither planned exactly. He just naturally happened and that was ok.
They are fine (Trunks is not fine)
Like, both Vegeta and Bulma seem actually pretty ok with the whole thing of being kinda distant kinda separate and on their own at that point while still being together as an official couple. Vegeta concentrating on his own things and not letting anything get in his way, being very saiyan about not letting himself feel (because otherwise his obvious parental instincts when Trunks gets killed and him later accepting his love for Bulma wouldn't make much sense if he actually didn't ultimately cared). Bulma seems pretty ok with putting herself and her child in danger while knowing she still has a job to do to help save the Earth just like Vegeta was doing in a way. Like, during the saga they are actually both working together, Vegeta asking her info on Dr Gero and her looking into her investigation about him in her memory, him asking if she brought the armors he requested for the z fighters and Bulma actually did made them and brought them with her. They are actually working together when it comes to the war against the androds and Vegeta is 100% concentratd on that and his issues while Bulma is enduring and helping as well, growing up from the brat she was into someone more mature but both still with things they need to work on.
The only one that cannot comprehend the dynamic here is Future Trunks. No one else feels it out of place or out of logic because it's Vegeta and it's Bulma. But like, Future Trunks gives too much credit to Vegeta for putting his Baby Trunks self in danger when it's very much Bulma's fault in this particular case. But that is because F Trunks made some high assumptions and probably fantasized with who his father might have been and was hit with the reality that he was not the way he imagined him, so he's putting a lot of expectations on Vegeta that when not met he gets angry but Vegeta is just like "dude i don't have time for this bs". And on the other hand Trunks also didn't knew how his mother was before she had to grow into someone more careful and responsible, so he cannot see his mother's faults because his love for her is blinding him from her wrong doings. (funny thing is that when she had the plane accident no one went to save Bulma either, lol). He has to learn to know his parents because he doesn't know them. Poor Trunks though XD.
////
Ultimately Vegeta changes his attitude during the end of the saga for the sake of both of them, and after having been smacked full force in the face with the realization that he did messed up in multiple ways during the saga after all, with the androids, with Cell, with Trunks too because of his cultural baggage. At the end he's much closer to Bulma and Baby Trunks, having accepted his role as father, not only the type of father Vegeta wanted to be but the father Trunks needed him to be, which still had a lot of room for improvement but it was a start, and he did changed quite a lot. Even caving in with some earthling behaviors for the better. Unnggh! is so beautiful!

i just saw a post saying that tommy being so similar to eddie in many ways is deliberate writing and proof yhat buck is misplacing his feelings for eddie onto a similar safer option… and it reminded me of my one fear that i have recently developed
even though that theory makes complete obvious sense, what if it’s not actually what the writers were going for? what if they made tommy so similar to eddie simply to explain why they connected instantly as friends… which made buck jealous. what if that’s literally all it is? that tommy and eddie were written as similar just so their fast friendship was believable. it would make sense considering the hobbies were things eddie has never mentioned before or since, they just wrote them in to increase the similarities lol
but then there’s the question of why they seemingly didn’t stay friends? why their similarities were never mentioned again after that episode? sighhh idk with this show, i guess we will see!
btw i still firmly believe the ‘what buck likes about tommy is what buck loves about eddie/misplaced feelings’ theory though!! who cares what happens in canon haha
Hi darling 🩷
I actually kinda think it's a little bit of both. They needed to justify both of their interest in Tommy so they added the similar hobbies and the army thing to accomplish both things at the same time. Because contrary to what part of the fandom seems to believe, Eddie is very good with people, he makes fast friends with most people we see him interact with, so him being friendly with Tommy works regardless, but it doesn't work to make them hang out as much as they did during 704. I also think that's leftover from the Tommy they were writing for Eddie. The similarities would work to create the idea that Eddie is into Tommy too in the timeline where Eddie came out first. But the similarities to Eddie are convenient in the Buck misplacing feelings thing, because it makes you question how Buck feels about Eddie and how much of his crush on Tommy is not just based on that first glance they are similar people feeling. Especially considering the way the friendship completely vanished after Tommy kissed Buck. And considering the way they made a point in contrasting Eddie and Tommy after that, like with the costumes for instance, the friendship and the similarities kinda fading into the background, and the way the 704 is on Buck's pov, there's a chance they are trying to make the point that Buck was exaggerating that connection to justify his own actions. @eddiegettingshot mentioned a few times when discussing 704 and specifically the twist, the idea that Buck is trying to justify his own reactions to himself and the concept of him building Tommy up because he doesn't want to deal with why he would react like that to Eddie making a friend to the degree of actually physically hurting Eddie works with that. And like it or not, Buck wants what he has with Eddie, he just didn't let himself register Eddie as an actual option, so the projection of his feelings into someone safer who's close enough to Eddie that he can project more than his feelings works. But this is a conclusion I reached rewatching 704 after the end of the season. I was always camp Buck is projecting into someone safer because figuring out he's queer and that he's in love with Eddie at the same time would be too much for him to handle all at once.

idk if im onto anything with this but a lot of stories about the sexual abuse of children seem really really good at exploring things that, at the end of the day, might not be true to the realities of a lot of sexually abused children.
like, for example, i love lolita. i ADORE lolita. I think that dolores in lolita shows a lot of realistic signs of sexual abuse from what we can see of her through Humberts eyes. I like the way it portrays abusers as people you can find charming and intellectual and smart.
but i also feel like Lolita is a story that's spends a lot of it's time exploring how someone can justify their horrible actions to themselves, and concoct huge philosophical theories of humanity that exist inside their minds to do it. and how they can spin that in a way that almost makes it seem reasonable when they explain it to you.
it often seems like the story is more about how people justify these things to themselves than it is about CSA specifically. I feel like the story could've been about Humbert discussing why he decided murdering black people is ok cuz they're not humans, and while that would certainly be a very different story with different intricacies and different societal critique, i feel like the *core* exploration that drives the narrative would be the same. i dunno, am i making sense?
cuz like, and maybe i'm wrong here, but the impression i've gotten is that most CSA isn't like that at all. a lot of it doesn't have to do with justifying acting on your lust, so much as having power over people who have no recourse against you or who don't know better.
and i dunno if this is necessarily a bad thing, cuz i certainly enjoyed reading lolita. I love what it has to say, i enjoy the writing and narrative, but often i read a story about CSA and i just think "this feels like it's kind of about something else" and idk if that's just me, or what.

Finished episode 5! Mystery stories are made with love, because the author wants you to solve the riddle. Witches and truth can only be seen with love. Hm! Umineko really is a love story.
[warning: long post.]
HOUGH THAT ENDING WAS SO GOOD. THE TRIAL WAS GREAT AND THEN BATTLER COMING BACK TO LIFE AND FIGHTING... I was wavering a bit near the middle of the episode wondering if it would stick the landing for me but it DID IT
I like Dlanor a lot in how she affects the story (and the concept of a guardfor Knox's decalogue is super compelling) but I was uhhhh uncertain of her at first. I think adding new characters that are so vital is a bit weird this late in the game... but GOD. GOD. THE FIGHT ITSELF. The way she and Battler both agreed to go at each other. It's so good. She justified her existence excellently.
AND. In addition. Erika never understood her. Battler did. Of course she ended up resigning against Battler after teaching him to respect the reasons why mysteries work.
I also find myself wondering if the spoiler I saw before of Battler being Kyrie's child was fake after all. Does a little anime girl "blehhhh"
BUT BECAUSE OF THIS. BECAUSE I DIDN'T SEE THE POSSIBILITY OF BATTLER BEING THE CHILD FROM 19 YEARS AGO COMING UNTIL IT WAS CLOSE TO APPEARING... IT HIT REALLY HARD. I LOVE IT
Tumblr media
CRAZY. BUT REALLY GOOD.
Battler becoming the game master is fascinating because it's clear he understands Beatrice better than the player. I'd seen people say that Umineko wants you (the player) to solve it, and until the end of episode 5 I didn't see it, since it's a mystery like any other; you SHOULD be able to solve it, but I feel like the mystery of Beatrice is too veiled in obscure hints and unclear moments, especially since the game is about denying she exists. But I mean. lol. Asking us to solve it is right there:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for what I think about the mystery... I'm not very good at solving these things. I love mysteries, but I'm not very good at "mystery thinking" the way some people are. As far as theories for how the mysteries of episodes 1-4 happened without magic, I'm not really one to go through it all again to try to piece it together when I don't feel like I have enough clues right now.
I'm also afraid I've seen too many vague spoilers to JUST be going off of what the game is about... I. uh. Might know who in the 18 characters is Beatrice, for example. I've avoided thinking about it on purpose, but hey. I'm not certain about it, but when they were comparing mysteries to love (with the obvious meaning of Battler and Beatrice's love) Battler mentioned his first love being with someone else. That first love being Shannon. And it's clear to me that if (keyword: IF) Beatrice is any of the 18, she WILL NOT BE ONE OF BATTLER'S RELATIVES!! So, a servant. If she's not Shannon or Kanon I will be surprised. There is another vague spoiler I've gotten that complicates this, but uhhh yeah. idk. If Battler can be the child from 19 years ago (maybe. This has not TECHNICALLY been confirmed) then Beatrice can be someone completely outside what I think is possible. We shall see.
I would find it weird if they broke up this seemingly beautiful and important love between Shannon/George that helped Shannon feel like a person, so honestly I'm leaning away from Beatrice Definitely Absolutely Being Shannon and more towards her having a weird connection to Shannon that people talk about in a way that confused me when I didn't know the characters very well. Is Battler's "first love" important to his relationship with Beatrice? ....Maybe. Is there more that I don't understand? Definitely.
(Also as a note: Genji = Ronove. Kumasawa = Virgilia. Gohda = ?. Shannon = Beatrice?. Kanon = ???. I don't expect this to be a one to one thing, but considering the first two are so firmly established, I'm keeping it in mind.)
Anyways. Battler committed a sin 6 years prior. Something related to Beatrice, or at least something related to who she used to be. Driving my thoughts away from WHO she is again, and back to the "why": Battler clearly remembered what it was. He lied to Beatrice about something. He understands Beatrice and knows why she constructed the game to have him solve it. We, reading the story, should be able to find the clues for what this sin is, but. well. We haven't been given much info about Battler 6 years ago. I feel like I need to wait for it to circle back around to Battler's backstory before I really make any theories.
Of course, Natsuhi and Erika are the stars of this episode. Natsuhi is a REALLY compelling character, but Erika is truly what made this episode click into place for me. Her hatred and gloating, the vile intentions, how pathetic she is when she loses... Her love for Bernkastel and the way she's being thrown away if she fails... She hates Battler, she has to defeat him, she won't hold back. I have high hopes for episode 6...!!!
Yeah!!! I liked episode 5 a lot!!! Whatever Battler's game looks like, I wonder if it'll help bring Beatrice back from the nonexistence she was pushed into, since they didn't really address that? ^-^

Onk spoilers(166)!!
Found out what happens in the last chapter!!
Oh seriously though??? It was the worst in a lot of ways but actually, I'm SO RELIEVED because
It explains literally nothing... There is NOTHING at all to take away. I really can believe in what I theorized with so wholeheartedly. That really IS the best way to make things work. I'm going to attach drawings to go with it and upload it on pixiv with the explanation because, it DOES make everything come together without even having to change a single thing. Believe me, I really think that should be the way, maybe the ONLY way to make things ACTUALLY WORK.
gosh I was prepping for the WORST of the WORST and it's helped. It's so bad but I can still draw. I can still theorize if it's like this but what is the point of doing that for a series that's been completed huh????
This is so half-baked;;;extremely so...
No but you can't write like this unless you just ditched the writing. Nothing is explained. Oh wow. Thank goodness I can still draw hikaai, I really DON'T THINK HIKARU HARMED AI. HE MUST HAVE JUST TRIED TO SEND A BOUQUET. What the heck though??? Shouldn't they explain the truth??? Shouldn't they really.. Reveal what happened regarding him and Ai before the series go? What if he REALLY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING? Do I HAVE to believe Aqua's thoughts that Kamiki manipulated Ryosuke to kill Ai by showing him a toothbrush that she's left in his apartment? How can Ryosuke's actions be justified?? And how IS that manipulation? How can you be so triggered over a freaking toothbrush. It would NOT have had ANY EFFECT on normal people. Ai even drew a cute heart next to her name, could be out of habit but considering how she is afraid of revealing herself and opening up to people, I figure she was quite happy and relaxed when she was around with Hikaru you know. They WERE loving.
What I wrote earlier EXPLAINS EVERYTHING. About how the star eyes work and came to be, what Hikaru had been doing and why he was so attached to Ai and was so desperate on seeing her again, how Ai is a "star", the idea of gods and missions and what each twins had as their mission, it also explains how Ruby "shines" brighter than anyone, the part about wishes, why Aqua had to take those extreme measures and give up his all, how Hikaru managed to do all these weird stuff and why people kept dying around him, and it also predicted the ending pretty well. That theory I have CAN explain everything in a very coherent sense. It makes everything add up together. That HAS to be it. It really just... Only adds to what this whole story is. It can't be otherwise. Because nothing is explained.
But the writers have to...take responsibility for their work, this is really like a normal ending in a video game that you get when you fail to collect all the hidden items and all. Can't they draw out a true ending??? It really seems like everyone failed in this particular timeline we're seeing as a comic. Since they stated everything is fiction, can't there be multiple endings then?? Aqua took the wrong route. I honestly.. See this piece being so. He should have followed his mom's wishes(grow up healthy, help the dad) idk, collect more items. This really DOES feel like a bad ending of a video game but surprise!!!
It's not the worst for me because we still don't know what the heck Hikaru is and I sincerely believe he really is a noble god who fell after being tainted by the industry. And we STILL don't know if he is the one responsible for Ai's death so I might as well believe him because WHY THE HELL WOULD HE GO AFTER HIS ONLY LOVE. HE WAS SO PASSIVE. I studied psychology that guy can't do it. If he were to get back at her he would have done it not so short after the moment she left him, why wait four years and...attack her when she called him up to come visit their children who strikingly resemble both him and his beloved Ai. They look so much like him too... He said himself he has paternal feelings and I believe that!! Because why wouldn't he, they take after him and the one he loves so much.. Wouldn't THAT be so precious?
And the fact that Ai really loved Hikaru didn't get refuted so that's a solid fact. Even if they add something in the final volume, there's no way they're going to overturn it so my interpretations of her feelings to him and him towards her are SAFE. Thank goodness.
But there's still NOTHING to take away from. In fact, it makes the message even worse;; not going to say much but it even negates this idea that was set forth in the recent chapter as well?? So what are they trying to say with this piece?
Oh but at least my favorite characters are SAFE from the author's hands!!! Nothing is worse in terms of them. In that case, I can feel free. I can draw them. I had no idea that they wouldn't even make a single appearance in the final chapter but that may be better than showing up and being horrible portrayals, at least what they had with each other's set in stone. That's good news. See? I can hope! My chest is actually lifted because it isn't too different from what I thought would be. The 4 recent chapters(I'm being so generous here) have NOTHING to offer. It doesn't have a point.
Hikaru drowning, let's say, that part can be actually from the myths if he's the embodiment if Sarutahiko. I care for him but I can see how that is. Everything after that point though? Oh, I can draw out something while maintaining the themes and message while making Aqua live and Ruby "shine" bright as an idol as "Amaterasu". I'm sure many artists will be willing to as well.
They have to get back to these ideas about gods and missions, why aren't they doing that? It really IS what that can make this story come together so why don't they do it?? Why were those things there? I really think that must have been it!! It explains everything!! It works!!

I’m not sure how this is going to come across but i’ve wondered since hearing that ACOTAR could’ve been a trilogy if ACOSF and the next book(s) are just scrapped TOG ideas, idk if you’ve read that series but so much of ACOSF just felt like the potential smut and filler Sarah wanted to or could have added to Aelin and Rowan’s story in Mistward and she just changed what she needed to to make it work for ACOTAR and the respective characters and it has me wondering if Elriel’s book is going to be if Celaena and Dorian were endgame or Aelin and Dorian just potentially gender swapped given Elain and Az’s respective roles and idk but realizing that’s an option has kind of put me off reading the rest of the series even though i’m sure i’ll at least look at reviews of the next book
I don't think she'd do that. ACOSF did feel like kind of a filler novel at times with the level of smut, but it had enough development of the plot for it to be a separate standalone in my opinion.
While there are similarities between Aelin and Nesta, I don't think there's similarities between Rowan and Cassian. I don't think the plot of ACOSF was something that could've been fit into Rowan & Aelin's story either.
Smut is smut. It can be added and taken away at any point. ACOMAF could've had way more smut. ACOWAR could've (should've) had less. It's up to SJM.
I think the level of smut was also increased for ACOSF bc it was her first "adult romantasy" novel, not YA I think (might be wrong on this). I also think it was justified based on the CHARACTERS. Nesta & Cassian were both very physical, volatile people.
It also falls under the book of Breathings theory of each couple embodying one part of the book -> "Love me. touch me. Sing me."
Love me me -> Feysand
touch me -> Nessian
Sing me -> Elriel
I don't know how she would regurgitate any deleted Caelena / Dorian scenes for Elriel. Outside of shadow powers, Dorian & Azriel have nothing in common. Neither do Aelin & Elain - other than being anagrams for each other. Azriel has nothing except rage in common with Aelin, and Elain has nothing in common with Dorian (other than the fact that they're both pretty ig)
I have full faith SJM will write a beautiful Elriel story, because she's been setting up for it all these years.

Hii! I really love ur analysis and theories I've been following you since last year!
Idk how to say it but I always had the feeling that tsukasa know that deep down his twin love him, because after all tsukasa is a very smart and observing person , his only reason to go back to his home when he was 4 is to know more about amane , so I'm sure that he know amane more that anyone, I mean if tsukasa was the one who hurting why would amane forgive him and let him even tho i can't even imagine how painful it would feel like for amane after looking at his blue and scars and rope burns . I realized this more in that one panel from when they were alive tsukasa asked amane if amane want him stay or to disappear and he blushed a bit will smiling when amane didn't respond him, if he tought that his twin really angry he would be upset thinking that the response is that amane want him to disseapear since he didn't even respond but tsukasa know that his brother is a 'weirdo' and have a very complicated personality and mentality
(sorry if you don't understand that , English is not my first language also out of topic, am i the only one who doesn't like to call amane tsukasa's big brother? It really make me feel weird and wrong since they are literally twin and are just some minutes different)
Awwww thank you dear 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Yes, Tsukasa is very intelligent, and he has the ability to see people's wishes through their hearts. You don't have to tell him directly what you want, he knows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that's where the problem lies, if Tsukasa has this ability, and yet he believes that Amane hates him, there's something wrong, isn't there?
Maybe Amane's love isn't the "ideal" love, but quite the opposite. Would you kill the person you love?
It's a questionable love, isn't it? So I know, people will justify Tsukasa's murder with the premise "it's because of the entity". But you see, even Amane regrets it. Even Amane is afraid of himself.
Tumblr media
Amane's love must have something suffocating and wrong, a love so forbidden that Tsukasa might not even consider it as love. That's assuming the story is well written, because Tsukasa knows how other people feel.
Because, even though Amane's love is the wrong kind of love, Tsukasa still treats him with kindness, with love and affection, as if he truly accepted what Amane had to offer him, even if it wasn't ideal.
Tumblr media
Still, what Amane has to offer isn't enough for Tsukasa, and you know, he loves when people show how they feel, he wants to see that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amane thinks the love he offers Tsukasa is good, it's enough, the same love he offers Nene, but it's not.
There's something about their relationship that's still mysterious. Hanako is so evasive, his behavior around Tsukasa was that, distant, without showing deeper emotions, many people blamed Tsukasa for different things to explain why Amane treated him like that.
Tumblr media
And the truth is this, he doesn't know if Tsukasa is really his brother. So, there is the love that Amane feels for Tsukasa (which he considers to be true) and at the same time Tsukasa's fear and contempt for the entity.
We don't know what these two have been through together, but believe me, if Tsukasa feels that Amane's love is not enough, he's probably right. He's the guy who reads what you want and how you feel, and he'll want to make you show it.
So, what I'm saying to you is that we still don't know for sure, not until we find out more about both of their sides. We've seen a lot about Tsukasa, but what about Amane?
Oh, well, yes, haha since they're twins the age difference is small, but it exists. After all, there's no way they could be born at the same time (for their mother's sake).
But, I get what you mean, it turns out that people like to differentiate by age, even if it's by minutes, it's symbolic. Amane being the older brother gives him the burden of being the more "protective and caring" brother.
While Tsukasa being the younger one gives him the burden of being the "cuter and more irresponsible" one.
Typical role-playing stuff in the story, to give more depth to their natural relationship.

Hi!! I love the PTS series and I just have some thoughts on the Shredder/Splinter/Raph dynamic that I wanted to discuss cuz I don't have many people to talk to about this topic :'D.
I find it interesting the idea the Shredder could see himself in Raphael due to his anger. What I find just as interesting is the idea that Raphael's anger is actually similar to Splinter and he sees himself in him (I am unable to cite anything right now but it's a theory/analysis out there. Kinda like in Lone Rat and Cubs when he whamos that Kraang bot). What i find REALLY cool is how these two ideas could coexist wherein Shredder thinks that he is looking at a reflection of himself in Raphael, but later finds out that what he sees is not himself but his brother, Splinter.
When they were young, do you think that Saki found comfort in his brother's anger? Do you think seeing his brother get angry too justified his own rage? Or did he butt heads with Splinter, and that anger stoked a burning fury between two?
When he looks at Raphael and finally recognize Splinter in him, will he feel rage towards the brother that 'betrayed' him? Or would he find comfort in the reminder of his childhood with his dear brother? They grew up together after all. He must've loved some part of him. He might miss some part of Splinter, no matter how little.
Idk if I'm sounding coherent though haha cuz I get nervous sending asks so I'm kinda just pushing through this and hoping it doesn't sound weird.
Great fic BTW it has been occupying my brain for a few weeks 👍👍
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ aaaaaaa thank you so much!!! no you're super coherent dw, thank you for the ask!!!
I 10000% agree!! I honestly can't recall if the concept has come up in any of my fics yet (maybe briefly, during Shredder and Splinter's fight in PTS?), but I am a STRONG believer that Raph and Splinter are super similar. Lone Rat and Cubs is a fantastic example, but even as far back as Turtle Temper that connection is made.
Tumblr media
Not just that Splinter was a guy who struggled with his anger, and that he sees Raph as having the same problem, but also just how DANGEROUS Splinter sees his anger as having been. I've seen people hate on Splinter for Turtle Temper, and I kinda get it because yeah, his advice, though not bad, wasn't given in the best way. But I think the context of "Splinter sees his younger self in his son, and is terrified that he'll make the same mistakes" is important.
Plus, AGH the PHRASING. He LET Saki anger him, he MADE his words into weapons. The way he blames himself for his brother's actions.... gnawing on the drywall.
When they were young, do you think that Saki found comfort in his brother's anger? Do you think seeing his brother get angry too justified his own rage? Or did he butt heads with Splinter, and that anger stoked a burning fury between two?
Aaaaaaaaaaaa that is an EXCELLENT question!! Their relationship is really fun, specifically because we do get SO little about it other than after everything has fallen apart. So we get a lot of room to play with it!
Personally, I lean towards the first. I headcanon Yoshi as (slightly) older (I imagine that a big part of Yuuta choosing to spare Saki and take him in was because he had a similarly-aged child at home), and I also like to see them as being pretty close. Probably competitive, I'm sure they butted heads from time to time, but I prefer the interpretation that learning the truth about Saki's heritage caused a sudden shift in their relationship, rather than them being at odds the whole time. So yeah, I can totally see Saki taking some form of comfort in Yoshi losing his temper (as long as it's aimed at other people c: )
ALSO, perhaps this is a bit of the trigun brainrot in me fhdsaghakdg but. I kind of like the idea of like, not just Yoshi being angry, but Yoshi being the angry one. As in, Saki DIDN'T have much of a temper growing up. Like, the small bits we do see of their past, Yoshi is cocky and making jokes while Saki is cool and serious. And that's AFTER their family has degraded almost to its breaking point. So I can imagine Saki as being the calmer, more level-headed one as a child. Definitely still with a temper, for sure, but Yoshi was the hot-head in my mind. Then, he learns the truth, his life starts falling apart (/he starts ruining his own life. Saki, come ON, man), and who does he start emulating, whether he recognizes it or not? His brother. Just sayinggggg.... 👉 👈
Sorry this is getting SO long fhdsaghkdg. You've activated my trap card (u asked about the doomed siblings)
I absolutely believe that they loved each other, and that they miss each other. Like I'm actually a little bit deranged over just how hard struggle with the fact they are BROTHERS. The INTENSITY of their hatred for each other as a mask... the only way they can cover up the grief is with anger and loathing... (Sorry to plug my own fics but if you haven't read blood of the covenant or brother (noun) yet, this whole concept was a lot of the inspiration lmao)
And!! OH my god, you're such a genius. Shredder obsessing so hard over identifying with Raph, only for it to click that Raph isn't him, Raph is YOSHI.... Shaking you. You're so fucking right. Like, Shredder doesn't realize it at all but so much of what drew him to Raph, what made him DESPERATE to get Raph to stay with him, is his similarity to Yoshi. he wanted his brother back, he wanted to prove to himself that it wasn't his fault, WHY DO THEY ALL KEEP LEAVING HIM—
omfgggggggg. yeah definitely tucking that concept away, don't mind me over here....
ANYWAYS!!!! Forgive the word vomit lmao but thank you SO MUCH for the ask I just spent 35 minutes typing this up instead of working FHKAGHKSADGLK. I am ALWAYS hyped to discuss these things.
Also I'm so happy you liked PTS gfhkadsglk thank you!! <3 <3

I'm voting Kotoko Guilty this round for quite a few reasons. First off, the only other two characters who have been voted guilty are Haruka and Muu. Yk. Minors. Who are already in a shitty mindset, who's verdict will most likely make that worse? Yeah. I would rather not have them beat up by Kotoko. And she WOULD beat them up- she would have beat up Amane if she hadn't been stopped, and Amane is much younger than Haruka and Muu.
I don't even mind her fighting injustice to feel good about herself. I mean, she's still fighting injustice. Regardless of her personal feelings about it, she's still doing good things. It's the way she goes about it that worries me. The article she was reading on her phone states that "more violence than necessary was used". Of course, the article could always be biased, but Kotoko has shown herself to be a violent person. Her call to us to vote everyone else in Milgram as Guilty, regardless of their crime, is a request for us to give her permission to make them her enemy and crush them. She would apply the same amount of force to, say, Yuno- someone who simply had an abortion because she didn't want the baby- as a person who kidnapped a child.
Kotoko sees everything in black and white. Yuno's "crime" of an abortion is just as evil as Haruka's crime of murder. Here's a reminder of the character's crimes (from my understanding):
Haruka: killed out of desperation to be seen, to have his mother finally acknowledge him after he wasn't good enough (ie, neurotypical) to keep up with the other kids.
Yuno: Had an abortion because she didn't want the baby. She didn't have some tragic reason why, she had a normal life. She was simply doing as she pleased.
Fuuta: Took part in cancel culture, which ended up doxxing a minor and she took her own life. He didn't want to accept responsibility for this, but it was clearly weighing on his mind.
Muu: She bullied others with her friends, and then her friends turned on her. She reached out to a classmate for help, but didn't receive any. Muu stabbed her in a panic, after alluding to either her or the classmate dying at the end of all of this.
Shido: Medical malpractice ? I think ? It's still not clear to me idk
Mahiru: Abused her boyfriend until he offed himself due to her sheltered life and toxic positivity. She feels as though she can't change, and she wants someone to love even if it hurts both of them.
Kazui: Lied about romantically loving his wife so that he could fit in to society at large. When he finally opened up about his feelings, the shock of it all caused his wife to end her life. He cared for her, but can't continue lying like this.
Amane: Killed her abuser, and is clinging to religion to both justify it to herself and comfort herself.
Mikoto: Still unclear whether he or John did the murder, how many murders there were, who was murdered, etc. The focus isn't exactly on the murder, moreso how mentally ill people are pushed to their limit with no support or help from others and the unhealthy coping mechanisms that can arise from that.
She tells us to throw away our sympathy. But understanding and kindness and sympathy are so so so important- not just in Milgram, but everywhere else, too. Yes, these are just characters, but a popular theory is that they represent societal issues. And I do believe that's true. They may not be real, but they represent real problems real people face. By ignoring the nuance, we blindly swing at whatever we're told is "guilty". Kotoko only attacked the prisoners we announced as Guilty. She won't act on her own moral code, merely the law. We are the law in Milgram, so she follows us.
I adore Kotoko, but her mindset is genuinely dangerous. While this is unlikely (cough, Amane) I hope her Guilty vote will help her. But it probably won't- Guilty votes destroy a person. But I can't vote her Innocent, either. I don't forgive her for her black and white thinking. Thus, she is Guilty to me. I'm very curious how she'll develop after this. I'm a little scared, too, but oh well.

absolute primogeniture idea: livia cardew's mother is also named livia cardew
i tend to think of the capitol as less patriarchal (to a certain extent) because i find it interesting to imagine that the capitol pursues some ideals that i (the reader) might agree with while also pursuing others that are very clearly dystopian -- the locked tomb series explores this more explicitly, but i feel like in thg, something similar is present in the background. same with the apparent lack of homophobia tbh. like, as long as you serve the empire, does it matter to the capitol if you're gnc? (<- that's the part that' similar to tlt. possibly.) if the capitol is anti-religion, does the enforcement of "traditional" gender roles have too close a connection to beliefs/loyalties that the capitol is trying to get everyone to leave behind? katniss mentions that in district 12 there's free housing (assigned at the justice building) and the right to marry whoever you want (whatever that's actually implying), so i could see some gender-equal laws/institutions being the norm in panem -- and maybe not just the norm, but something that's specifically valued as important to society. even if in practice it's sometimes less egalitarian
i don't think about movie canon as much, but the fact that the academy requires all students to wear both pants and a skirt at the same time is definitely Something as well
it does seem like panem probably has a more recognizably patriarchal history, considering its attitudes toward sexuality (especially re: how the grandma'am talks about lucy gray, and how snow thinks about tigris), but that doesn't necessarily mean that gender roles, relationships between gender and class, etc., haven't changed a lot. idk. there's a lot to think about and i really appreciate how people interpret the capitol in so many different ways in fic/theories
Yes! Yeah, this is exactly how I feel with how the Capitol is! Also love the tlt connection!
I do find it interesting that the Capitol is anti-religion. In my head (and fics), I explore this translating into things needing to be translated into know and unknown. People in the Capitol not being the best equipped to deal with things on faith. They need to justify things even if it’s faulty logic <- Volumnia and Coriolanus
I also really love reading people’s thoughts on the Capitol! It’s so interesting!

Alright, here are some screenshots from the new iwtv s2 trailer and me theorizing over them like a rabid fangirl. Hafl meta, half madness.
Tumblr media
ok, so this bit of dialogue here where they are talking about Daniel and the interview
Armand: He wants you in pieces for the privilege of putting them back together as he sees fit. Louis: It's his job. Armand: It's his drug. He's reveling in it. You should end it.
Is Armand bitter? Is this how he saw his and Daniel's relationship? If so he is big mad. Like, this man has had decades to stew in that post-breakup anger. Memory is a monster and all that. So he's had plenty of time to do that thing where people breakup, get pissed off, and only remember the bad times. We twist our own memory all the time, that's one of the ways people get past shit. So Armand has probably twisted what he and Daniel has. Because my boy does not handle rejection well.
Or maybe he is projecting? Messing with Louis' memories (which it seems like he did. though i do believe he thought he was helping Louis at the time. a monster in love is still a monster) could very well be putting him back as Armand sees fit. That's what he may believe he did to Louis. Though the definition of 'as he sees fit' could have multiple meanings. I think personally that Armand sees (or at least justifies) messing with Louis memories as for Louis own good.
Either way, he does not want Daniel poking into Louis' head.
Tumblr media
this is just some loumand cuteness. look, Armand kisses Louis on the cheek. i think Armand is or was probably pretty affectionate when him and Louis were alone together. I remember that interview with Assad saying there was a tenderness to Louis and Armand's relationship. there's a whole bunch of cute little shots of them together. but they are hard to get a cleat shot of because they sort of fade into each other in the video.
like, i know in my heart the loumand breakup is coming this season. but i'm going to enjoy it while it lasts. bc this version of loumand has got me hooked. i have to confess, i was never really a big fan of loumand in the iwtv book. the whole claudia of it all ruined it for me. but i am so fascinated to see how these two made it work for 77 years.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and this. the way Claudia and Armand look at each other when they first spot each other. that quick second before the mask can slip into place. they do not like each other. they are enduring for Louis' sake. at least until he picks one of them.
Tumblr media
then like a split second later, she has this tight smile on her face. my baby girl is not happy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
look at their faces y'all. this is during Louis' 'life is shit' bit of dialogue. where he tells Claudia to stop feeling sorry for herself. he also says they 'can't be running away again' do they find other vampires before Paris? According to her diaries, they were in Romania in 1941. And Louis says something about they can't be the only 'good ones'
We also know they were in Paris, Nov 14 from Claudia's diaries. The interview is set in 2022. Louis mentions earlier in the clip him and Armand have been together 77 years. So they'd have to have gotten together in 1945. Given how quickly things happened in the book, I'd say they were probably only there a few months.
Tumblr media
this has to be Allesandra. it has to be. I can't wait for this Armand backstory stuff.
Tumblr media
y'all look at this fuckery. Santiago is kissing some woman while riding a motorcycle. idk if she is a victim or another vampire. and i think possibly the bike might be flying? I can't tell. It looks pretty cool though.
Tumblr media
oh look, a scythe. i wonder what that could possibly be foreshadowing. they have to have the scene, the way they've shown a scythe in a few different teasers/trailers now.
Tumblr media
this might be Madeliene, but I don't know. The hair doesn't fit what we've seen so far. my theory is that this is Madeleine's sister who dies via vampires. in the books she lost a daughter, and it was why she was so eager to play mother to Claudia. Having a child that could almost literally never die would have had to seem like, the greatest thing ever. switching it to a sister would be fitting, seeing as Claudia is playing the role of sister to Louis
So my thought here, (and I know I am theorizing based on nothing but vibes) is that Madeleine is looking into the vampires bc her sister went missing after going to a show at the Theatre des Vampires. And at some point, Claudia will reveal what they are to her.
That may be why she looked so scared in that other teaser we had. These pics are from it and they are blurry af, so sorry bout that
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This could be the vampires warning her to mind her business. Why not kill her outright? Bc they like to play with their food. Or bc Claudia wants to keep her, and Armand knows he has to get Claudia out of the way to be with Louis. So he could just like, order the coven to not kill this one human. And then later 'convinces' Louis to turn her into a vampire, so Claudia will have her own companion and gtfo
Tumblr media
like, i know it's hard to tell from this one shot, but Armand seems to be on the verge of having a full on tantrum. while saying Lestat's name over and over. Probably bc he heard how much Louis was talking about Lestat to Daniel. he's probably mad jelly, but like, in both directions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
look at this shit. Armand straight up hisses and pushes Lestat away with his vampire powers. (this I think is may not 1945 Paris, but around when they first meet. idk though)
Tumblr media
this is how Lestat seemed to be dressed in the image above. and given the whole look of him (you know, in full health) i think this is around the time Lestat meets the Children of Satan
Tumblr media
y'all I am screaming. this is Lestat drinking Armand's blood. did they fuck? did Lestat hit it and quit it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At least Claudia gets to tell Louis off for picking Armand over her. But she definitely was not loving Paris.
Tumblr media
as witnessed here, by Daniel reading from her journal "fuck these vampires"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so here we have Daniel saying he wants to get out alive (then we have him making this strange face where it looks like he wants to cry, another shot of Armand) while this other dude says that Daniel fears Armand and that he should fear the other one. Who tf is this guy? Are they still in the penthouse? Did Daniel leave and go out somewhere to meet this guy? Who is this man? Maybe another vampire that paid a visit? Is he this Leonard guy we've heard about? bc that does not look like David Costabile, but tv hair and makeup can perform magic, so maybe it is?
Tumblr media
here we have Louis throwing his cup of blood at a painting. it's ok baby boy, you are entitled to a hissy fit every now and again
Tumblr media
Here we have Louis hallucinating Lestat, so that's fun.
And now bitch ass tumblr says I can't post anymore images, but i am only halfway through the trailer. so I guess i will post and reblog

I feel like people justify morro's action WAYYY more than it needs to be like we really don't need insane level lore on why he did what he did
Trust me, I eat those interpretations UP about morro however I feel like SOME (very important word of the day) people go out their way to excuse all that he did and just make him to be this TOTALLY INNOCENT GUY who DEFINITELY did NOT mean to do what he did and he's just a little blorbo scrubby skrunkly with sad backstory :((
In my opinion (emphasis on the MY part) I don't think the series gave him enough time to actually fully redeem his character at all so trying to make these excuses and interpretations just to justify what he did is kind of weird. But trust me i really do appreciate and love how yall manage to come up with these ideas and theories from how little we got of morros backstory.
Now I'm not saying that people CAN'T have their little headcanons and stuff about morro, like I said before I EAT THOSE UP EVERYTIME. All im saying is, not every villian has to have this terrible backstory to excuse all of their actions. Let morro just be a brat who kind of...?? Redeemed himself...?? Sorta...??? Idk I mostly put blame to the writers at that time writing season 5 and also day of the departed.
Also keep in mind this is coming from someone who hasn't watched seasons 8-15 yet so if like somehow he was redeemed more in those seasons than please tell me because I really don't want to look stupid right now. Idk I'm getting that feeling that MAYBE he was redeemed in future seasons and I'm just looking like a idiot right now...

OMG SO MANY THOUGHTS SO MANY FEELINGS
FIRST OF ALL WE GOT TO SEE THE SHORT KING HIMSELF AND I LOVE HIM!!! He is trying so hard to get Charlie to like him. Omg how do I describe him he's just so done with everything. He's like everything Charlie could become but refuses to. He's given up on his people, broken all of his dreams, and retreated into his solitude scared to call everyone who loves him.
Omg and Alistor is so.. interesting!! The way we got to experience him through his relationship with mimzy and Charlie we get this whole new side of him. It's clear that he was over emphasizing him and Charlie's relationship to piss off Lucifer but you could tell he at least partially cared. And the way husk described his relationship with mimzie he loves his friends so much. He's willing to fight anyone who picks a fight with those he cares about and that same sentiment applies to Charlie and everyone else now too, even if he doesn't want to admit it.
The Hazbin Hotel doesn't make sinners better people because of lesson plans or exercises, everyone makes each other better by providing them with some place they can just be free. Somewhere where they don't have to worry about being murdered, eaten, or robbed, they just get to be their authentic self and they get a chance to realize that there's more to life. (Or death)
As for episode six shit Don’t get me started bro. A HELL IS FOREVER REPRISE!??? LIKE ARE THEY KIDDING ME??? THAT SHIT WAS INCREDIBLE!!! NOT ALL OF HEVEN IS A PEACE OF SHIT??? I LOVE THAT ANGLE!!! I was so sure that all of heaven was just going to be like pompous ass holes but like they didn't even know!!
I'm not surprised Vaggie was an angel I always thought those theories were pretty justified but I have so many questions like how gid Vaggie really get her name? Adam said he chose it but that would imply he was in a position to do so which would make no sense in the context that she had a life on earth unless it was forced upon her.
The only alternative would be that she spawned in heaven as an exorcist but we also know she is in fact dead as of 2014 so that would imply that when she let that demon go she didn't just become a fallen angel she was actually killed which would also mean that heaven born Intatiees do still have souls and can in fact become sinner demons which means there's a chance we'll get to meet that decapitate angel after all.
Anyway uhm idk why but I kind of like Cherrie and sir pensious it's actually too hilarious to not at least cravk a smile be for real. Also MY BOY ANGEL IS ALL GROWN UP 🥺 SAYING NO TO DRUGS AND EVERYTHING I'M SO PROUD OF HIM!!!!!
I'm sorry but Am the Seraphim has my heart and she and Charlie should just hang out together and pet koalas all day pleaseeee!! Omg These Last two episodes were incredible and I can’t wait for next week. I wonder how Charlie will react to Vaggies secret. I'm not too worried about them Breaking up but that is definitely a conversation they're going to have to have. Hazbin Hotel had not disappointed yet and now I have 4 new songs to add on my playlist.
