Hello, do you have a guide to drawing faces? I'm going through an artstyle revision to be more soft around the edges and less sharp and I've always struggled with faces...

oh my... that's a very broad question to ask and hard to give any usefull answer without actually seeing your work. But it's good that you have concrete goals and can pinpoint what exactly you want to change about your work. It's a very professional attitude.

Which is why I may be a bad choice of person to be asked for advice. Because I'm not a professional and I want very much for drawing to stay just my hobby to keep me sane. I never consciously thought about my artstyle beyond maybe making it less manga (but residue it's still there, art teachers were right lol XD). It's about having fun in the process for me.

That's why I can only give you some fun things to try out. Maybe one or two will work for you.

If you want to soften your faces in generally paintery way best way I tried is to gradually unblurr your picture. Like take the most basic round brush with soft edges and make it very big. Turn down the opacity a bit and try to sculpt basic shapes of the face using the main limited pallette colors of your reference. Then use slightly smaller big brush to add bit more details. Then gradually make the brush smaller and smaller. And gradually add new details and colors if necessary.

This actually does wonders because helps you stop being precious about some sketch details because there is no sketch. It helps you stop seeing face as face so you don't draw what you know but what you actually see.

Actually speaking of that. Another great trick is to put your reference upside down. Our brains are lazy and just extrapolate the information and our brains are great at face shapes so it's actually harder to draw them. But if you put them upside down you actually need to focus on proportions of this new unknown shape. It actually does wonders!

When it comes to lineart (because after all this rambling I figured that's most likely why you've written to me, sorry) i have 2 suggestions.

Try to figure out if you draw with only your wrist. It doesn't decide if you draw more in straight or in curved lines (I guess in that department we have opposite problems :D) but it's good idea to try consciously draw using more of your elbow. It works well with bigger canvases and actually taught me to draw really long straight lines (yay architecture, it was useful for that and learning how to do really tough boxes XD) but actually it's about stability which is crucial in doing curved lines too.

On smaller scale try using different media or have fun with new pens. It will help you get out of your used path and is an excuse to raid nearby cheap art store.

I guess many people would recommend doing lineart with brushes. The varying thickness will encourage you to use more round lines and so on buuuuut.... actually I think brushes are very discouraging when you don't have the muscle memory to control them properly. My advice here would be to use felt tip pens actually. They are more springy thus more forgiving. Try the ones that are soft and more spongy than actually felt. Idk how to describe them. If that's something you think may be interesting let me know and I'll try to dig up the ones I used.

Generally let me know if you want more details in certain direction because all above is kind of rambly stream of consciousness answer and idk how usefull it actually is but I prefer to post it that way otherwise I'll get stuck in perfecting the reply limbo >.<

I hate that AI has turned into a really negative buzzword.

Guys..... AI is USEFULL. AS A TOOL. Just cuz something used AI as an inspiration point or to help with progress does not mean its purely AI. And neither is that bad. Its GOOD! AI itself isnt bad. Its how its being used and the intention of the person behind it.

It feels like the whole "Digital artist arent artists! Because they didn't toil over pencils, marker and paints!" Again

Just cuz i say hey i think AI is neat does not mean i think AI reigns supreme. I just think its neat that it can cut off the hard part and let me get to the fun part of creating faster.

Idk, reading about the multiple allegations of Palworld, a fun and successful game, be accused of using AI to paint it in a bad light when theres clearly work put into it pisses me off. Even if they used AI as an inspiration point theres clearly a human element in there. Cohesive design, the models and animation. You cant get the good stuff without a human touch which it clearly has.

Hey can i have a honest opinion on something?

A few moth ago i started the translation of a lore doc into french, this decision was mostly motivated by a want to do something for a fandom since i never finish my drawings/stories etc , but also to work my english (and make it usefull, i wanted to do something usefull). However now i kind of doubt the utility of it all... first cause ...it's not very intersting to read lmao but i've accepted that it would be more of an archive than anything really...meaningful?idk but also : the lore doc is basically a copy pasta of what's on the tweeter of the Creators (but translated obv), but that means that every link wont be accessible to all -> language barriers + twitter (i don't have it so it's already a problem for me when i can't acces the threads) but it also means that the lore is very limited and we miss every little interrations or quircks of the characters ...yknow, what's really interesting about lore. I think that the day to day actions of the characters are not as interesting as what makes them special....

Today i wanted i bit more of infos about a deal a character made , cause what i had was litteraly "This character made a deal with This character" WHAT KIND OF DEAL?? when i searched on the wiki fandom the entire day was written in great details and the deal was kind of way more horrifing than how it was presented on the doc (dude offered him "good things" o whatever in exchange OF THE LIFE OF HIS SON) and something just clicked in me... IS it really still worth it to work on this translation? If anyone want to learn the lore it wont be very interesting since it's not that developped and it's hard to find what you want unless you know who and when it was. I don't want to let down the OP (but at the same time they didn't really asked, i proposed to make it more accessible WICH IT ISN'T ANYWAY SO FUCK ME). And at the same time the wiki is well more spread, and detailed. What the document has in fast updates the wiki has it in details ... The only "bad"thing that i note on the wiki was that when i made that search for the deal, the page for the specific character was EMPTY on the french side, and a lot of pages aren't translated or even present in both version (AND I HATE THE ADDS IT MAKES IT UNREADABLE i hate it i hate it i hate it)... I really want to help but idk what to do, cause i would hate to let this unfinished

Talking about blue. I just uhm oh I try not to get into vent but like ever compared a duel monster which will suit yourself? Well Yusei tried to be funny when I asked what duel monster I reminded him of (hoping for a powerful nice monster, idk maybe Stardust high hopes hehe). He just answered winged kuriboh….”Why?”

Cause my bed hair reminded him of a kuriboh and to be a little sappy just “and the wings cause of your *pidge days back in satellite.”

*a pidge was a person to bring the illegal goods people request to get outside satellite.

When he found out what I was saying all this time he was “So any time we said goodbye, any time we aparted or on the phone…you said you love me!?”

He was a mess. He uhm couldn’t speak or even look at me for minutes.

Zombie Apocalypse AU Masterpost 2 Electric Boogaloo

-Bdubs is slowly going feral because he has the virus, it just doesn't show itself physically.

-Cub was tempted to purposefully get the virus to try and help find a cure, (they probably don't have lab rats given the circumstances,) by Scar talked him out of it.

-The timeline of events with DocM is that he started in the NHO group, they ended up dispersing (Etho turned and then left to ensure the safety of his friends, Beef ended up going separate due to Doc and Bdubs' constant fighting and Bdubs stormed off after an argument.) He ends up getting taken in by TFC, (he's the first to arrive,) and eventually captures Rendog.

-Stressmonster and Iskall originally lived in a cabin in the mountains. After Iskall got swept away in a snow storm and Joe and Cleo stopped by, Stress had no idea there was a Zombie outbreak.

-Hypnotizd and XB ended up trespassing in Jevin's property and Jevin shot Hypno. XB pleaded to Jevin that they weren't zombies and to not hurt them further and Jevin begrudgingly went, 'okay, fine. You aren't taking my food though.'

-Impulse's weapon of choice was a shovel.

-Grian can't fly in this AU. Let's be real, if he could, it would be pretty OP.

-Keralis most definetly gave a larger share of his rations to Xisuma while he was sick.

-TangoTek entirely blames himself for Impulse leaving and Zedaph getting bit. He feels especially conflicted because he wants to leave because he's convinced they both hate him and blame him but he can't because 'what if they go looking for him?' 'What if someone worse comes from that?'

-The location of Etho's bite is right on the front of the neck. He actually passed out from blood loss initially and he very nearly died. (Luckily for him the zombie didn't pull away, ripping out anything important (like a windpipe of an oesophagus,) giving Doc time to carefully unhinge the zombie's jaw and save Etho.) Nobody was quite sure how Etho was even alive with a big chunk out of his neck until he started displaying some strange behaviour.

-False is usually the one who stays up late to stand guard and protect her group.

-Mumbo accidentally caught Hypno in one of his traps at one point but let him go.

-Hay here’s a dumb idea, The reason ren is immune to the zombie virus is because he has like an anti-zombie virus in his body it behaves just like a normal zombie virus but it doesn’t turn you into a zombie, so how the hermits turn the zombie hermits human again is by making ren bite them.

-I have an angst ending and a no-angst ending so first here's the not-angst one: Doc and Ren team up with Cub and Scar to make a cure (so Ren doesn't have to bite everyone personally). They travel around finding every bitten survivor and salvageable zombie they can, using the weapons and resources from the NHO for protection. They find ways of producing and distributing enough cure for everyone, and during that process all of the Hermits decide to stay friends and in touch afterward.

-For the Zombie AU, if Scar doesn't already have like a different role in this au, he could've possibly been the first human infected because *someone's* pet cat ate a weird looking mouse and bit their owner.

-This is very angsty and gory, so fair warning: How fast does the virus spread through the body from the bite? If slow, you can cut the bitten part off before it spreads out through the body. To doc having a robot arm, what if he got bit and out of fear, they amputated his arm to stop the spread. I know y'all probably don't wanna go with body horror, but that's something to consider in this AU.

-Lowkey I feel zombie Etho doesnt do justice to his epic PVP skillz, but!! I do see Etho to be something SIMILAR to it! Idk if you've ever played Telltale's The Walking Dead game, but Etho could a zombie whisperer, a human who wears zombie skin and lives amongst the zombies for protection. So when Etho got bit, they THOUGHt he turned but actually just decided, hey I live here now and just vibin.

-You know how ren being a werewolf is popular in the fandom(from what I've seen) maybe that's why is immune to being a zombie and getting bitten by him if your infected cures it because the zombie infection and werewolf infection cancel eachother out.

-A more jokey Zombie!Au thing: The first episode of Llamas with hats but it's Zombie!Etho and Beef.

-I feel like if Wels could get to some of his friends he would try his hardest to protect them and if he ever managed to get bit it would be to save someone else.

-There is just always so much angst potential in any scenario or AU where it involves the possibility of Wels sacrificing himself in some way to protect his friends from something poor bb 😔

-Would infected hermits be able to like recognize people after the infection zombified them or whatever it is? Because if so oh my god imagine the angst.

-About the anti-zombie Ren bite thing: Doc has the idea suddenly in the middle of an argument so the conversation goes a little like this:

Ren: "So what I'm trying to say, my dude, is that would never work because -"

Doc: "Ren. Bite me."

Ren: "Oh yeah, real mature way to end a disagreement there -"

Doc: *facepalming* "No, Ren, I mean actually.... Just do it, I'll explain later."

-Angst ending: They could never produce enough cure to stem the tide of undeath. They all choose to band together and take shelter underground, hoping to wait it out. They use X's tunnel, but that many people that close together smells irresistible to a horde. The zombies flood after them into the tunnel. X says he'll buy them some time, even though he is terrified. He collapses the tunnel on himself and the zombies so the others can escape. His last thought: At least I get to die as myself.

-Thinking about Etho's bite location (you said it was on his neck): Most bites are on the shoulder or leg (bit from behind while running away) or on the arm (bit while raised to defend). To be bitten on the neck he would have to have his arms and shoulders lowered. Etho, being a good fighter, would have only done this if it was absolutely necessary. Conclusion: he was bitten with his arms stretched out to protect someone behind him, and he knew the consequence that his choice would have.

-The NHO are all strangely dressed (Etho is kakashi, Doc is green, Bdubs has a bandana,) because they were all at a cosplay convention. (-@tomcatacaphe.)

-When Etho left The nHo, he brings a Journal with him. Every Night he'll write a Journal entry. He'll write just about anything, there even some random lyrics and some pretty flowers he pick up along his travels. But as the Journal goes on, the words slowly became wobbly. Inconsistent. until finally, Unreadable chicken skrach. His final (at least readable) entry is: "-I hoPE yoU GUyZ ArE DoInG bETThEr ThAn I Am" As some point in time, Etho lost his Journal and Joe hills found it.

-Speaking of Joe Hill, he made it his personal mission to collect every literature and entertament media he can possibly carry on him. From Dnd Book, poetry, Documentary DVD's, to random journal He think would be usefull. Stress is happy to help Joe but Cleo is a little annoyed because it's will only slow them down, but Joe Argued that "If there's no knowledge left, then what will the future be? Just staying alive and surviving?" Cleo begrudgingly agrees.

-I can totally see Joe and Cleo Rocking an actual Sword and Dnd Cosplay (Joe got is a gift while Cleo Commissions her's after seeing Joe whip out his sword one time in a one shot DnD session) they keep the swords, but they ditch the Costume pretty early on tho.

-Mumbo's next Job Interview would be schedule at Concorp. But then the Zombie apocalypse happened on his way there.

-I don’t want this au to end but here’s my take: most of them get to the bunker where they don’t develop a cure, but do create a vaccine. Occasionally they will venture out to hand out the vaccine to survivors. Still, they all decide to stay into stay together. But because they were unable to develop a cure, even though they really try, there are some how have been lost such as etho, zed, and mumbo. Still the rest of them morn and try their best to survive without modern society. (-@lookitsspacekween.)

-Funny/happy ending to the Zombie AU: The hermits set up a zombie funneling system where the ones that didn't die from infection get bit by Ren to get turned back and they return the dead and give them proper burials. (-@my-cat-is-a-bastard.)

-I just remembered the thought post with Tuartis sleeping through things, Bdubs sleeping through the apocalypse, but now we've got Wels on the sleep team too! Wonder if he'd have slept through the apocalypse as well... (-@853dragons.)

TW: Mentions of dead animals:

I've got one last bit for the zombie au, it ties into my parasite one: With the rumors that the outbreak started in the Convex cancer research facility, and Scar feeling guilt because he Should Have Been Able To Stop This... It really was their fault. As a company. It wasn't intentional, of course, but Convex created the parasite. It was during research into a cure for certain conditions that are notoriously risky/impossible to perform surgery on, like brain tumors or lukemia-type cancer. The hope was to utilize the parasites as something that could harmlessly go in, eat or destroy all the cancerous cells, then die off, leaving a perfectly healthy human. The research project was abandoned after a several years, when every single attempt ended with either dead or, in later years, extremely sickly rats. Although the final round seemed promising, the rats weren't showing obvious signs of a decline in health after two weeks, Convex was convinced to just give it up and that the utilization of parasitic worms was asking for more trouble than it was worth. Plus, PETA was getting dangerous with their choices in protest against the tests, which was the main reason it was called off. Cub and the board of directors didn't want to risk bodily harm to their researchers, and it truly was getting so beyond ridiculous that a few bodyguards weren't enough protection.

Some researchers took some of the test rats home as pets, including our Patient Zero, because they really were quite cute. Patient Zero got bit by his rat, and nobody really thought anything of it for a couple weeks until his behavior took a bad turn. He was picking fights and throwing verbal abuse, and no amount of warnings and write-ups were giving any hint of stopping him. It all finally resulted in him viciously biting fellow labworkers, which sent two of them and himself to the ER. Upon arrival he had to be restrained and isolated lest he bite more people. He was fired from the company, his bodyguards pulled, but Scar had been friends and continued to visit him regularly, wondering where the change had come from, and saddened by his old friend's obvious decline in health. Nurses told him he was refusing to eat or drink, and too violent to reason with nor release to anywhere but the police or psychiatric hospital. Soon, there were more reports of uncharacteristicly aggressive actions from PZ's victims. And from there.... Well, it's your choice where the story goes, but it didn't take long for Scar to put the puzzle together.

You always have such amazing ideas. Even the ones for the fandoms i dont know, i understand your ideas and share your joy. I actually understand why you feel like that, about asks, and i l o v e having you in my only beloved fandom jfnfmfmmfkf that means we can do great things together! But unfortunatelly, you know my house, the life i live. And of course you know me. I dont have time to draw everyday, just because i need to do something for my mother. Even if i have time to draw, motivation doesnt like to see me often. I still cant draw freely you know. Even a basic doodle overwhelms me sometimes. hello gaelle! could you maybe help me with some advice about concerts? soon i'll be going to my first one ever (a music festival) and seeing that you went to a bunch of concerts i was wondering if there's anything i shoud know, how to be prepared. bisous ❤️

Hey love! Ohhh so exciting! Which festival is it? I actually have a list that I send to my friends when they join me for festivals, I translated it for you, here you go:

wear comfortable and water/mud proof shoes like sneakers with thick soles. No opened shoes, you might get stepped on and that fucking hurt

wear layers. I usually go with bathing suit, t shirt, sweatshirt with a zip and a hood, and light waterproof coat depending on the weather. you will get cold at night. avoid short skirts, you’re going to want to sit a lot between gigs, it’s more comfortable to wear shorts or long skirts (I like long skirts better because of the cold at night, it keeps my legs warmer than shorts)

take a bandana, for the dust. sometimes the air is so dry and full of dust it’s annoying to breathe. very usefull too when there’s a color party :))

take sunglasses

take a hat (something that is quite secured on your head ‘cause you’re going to dance and jump around!)

take a backpack, a small one that won’t move around too much when you’re dancing

take a bit of money in cash. most festivals don’t use cash anymore, but you never know

take your phone and an external charger

take something to eat (there’s food everywhere but it’s expensive and the queues can get long)

do not forget suncream/lip balm

take hand sanitizer

don’t forget to bring your medication with you if you need to take it, and take something for headaches, just slip a pill or two in a pocket

you can take a couple band aids (for your feet, just in case)

earplugs! protect your lil ears :)

idk what the policy is where you’re going but here in France we’re not allowed to bring in bottles. water is free but if you want to you can bring a water bag and slip it inside your backpack

As for some tips:

make sure to know in advance which artists you absolutely do not want to miss, who you’d like to see but can miss part of the set and who you don’t care about. That’s when you’ll get to sit and eat and drink and pee ahah and keep the schedule with you. 

study the map and know who is playing which stage, how long it takes to go from on stage to the others. make sure to mark water points and the medic tent

if you go with friends, agree on a meeting point in case you lose each other

if you absolutely want barrier or front row, try to move forward through the crowd during the precedent set. It will be too hard once the set is over because everyone will go the other way and by the time you get there it’ll be too late

if you’re tiny like me and can’t get to the front, find the plastic thingy covering the cables on the ground and get on that. You’ll gain a few centimeters and see better

if you feel bad because of the crowd, grab someone, tell them you don’t feel well. do not hesitate to ask for help. people are nice and will get you out. if you see someone on the ground, make noise. Don’t touch them but make sure people around see them and don’t step on them accidentally, and find a medic

if you drink alcohol, please eat and drink plenty of water too, and wet your neck whenever you can. be safe!

if you want to shoot, make sure your festival policy will let you in with a camera. Some don’t and you’ll have to pay for a locker or whatever it is they’ll keep it in for you. Don’t be annoying and make sure you’re not blocking anyone’s view while shooting!! and no flash :)

Camping stuff

bring a tent and an air mattress with a pump or not, up to you. sleeping bags are not enough to sleep on the floor, and don’t forget a small pillow or your neck will kill you

bring a pocketknife

bring blankets, if possible a survival blanket. No matter if it’s the middle of summer and it’s hot as hell during the day, you will get cold at night. The medic tent may give you one if necessary. You can bring a ground blanket to sit/lay on during the day. I usually use my Pride flag ahah

bring babywipes, preferable biodegradable ones

bring a portable lantern or a flashlight and don’t forget the batteries. Keep your phone battery as much as you can

bring tissues/paper towels!!!! hoard them!!!

bring games to pass the time. most festivals don’t start before 3 in the afternoon and you can’t really sleep in. 

bring a mirror and a basic toiletery kit

bring a couple trashbags. be cool and clean up after yourself always :)

if you have one, bring a portable music player. but don’t be annoying and don’t blast it while people are still trying to sleep ahah

bring dry stuff to eat and if you can, bring a big cooler for drinks. Keep it inside your tent at all time. Ice packs are usually sold on site

bring or buy on site (it can be a nice souvenir) solid cups. For the rest of ustensils, it’s up to you to know whether you will be cooking or not

bring a lock for your tent

you can also bring a marker to tie to your tent so you find it easily (like a big balloon or something)

bring insect repellent

it’s not for everyone, definitely, but think about bring one of those device to pee while standing, idk what they are cold in english. it will be more sanitary than having to sit on most toilets

try to find a map of the campsite in advance so you know where it’s best to set up your tent in advance. avoid being too close to the entrance and avoid near the waterpoints/toilets. It will always be very noisy, aka no sleep

get to know the people set up around you. Be careful of raiders. They unfortunately exist. Always always carry your valuable stuff with you and don’t leave anything in the tent: ID, money, phone, etc. btw, avoid jewelry and expensive sunglasses. They could break or be stolen. Fanny packs are your friends :)

make sure to know where the security is

don’t go back to your tent during the day. camp sites are usually a bit further away and going back between two sets is the best way to miss an artist. If you want to rest, you can find somewhere to sit or lay down on the festival site itself

Most importantly, have fun!!! Dance, and sing, and jump and glitter your way around like a lil star!!!!

The Kingsglaive + Their Appearance (Spoilers?)

And here I am once more, trying to pick apart the armor the Glaives have available to them. I’ll be honest: I always thought they have two outfits, the black coat one with black boots and their battle uniforms.

But since I took my time to find every little bit of clothing, I’m wiser than before. Read More if you want to!

We’ll kick it off with the shirts they wear beneath their typical black coats:

I’d consider this one to be the most basic one as we’ve seen numerous Glaives wearing this plain shirt with a sword pattern on its front part.Most of the time the Glaives are wearing their coat over the shirt so we only get to see small bits of the sword. It’s obvious the sword is a reoccuring symbol on the clothes. The most prominent sword would be either on the back of the black coat or on bits of the armor.

Anyway, we also get to see this type of shirt:

I’m still unsure. Is Luche’s shirt part of his outfit or not? Because it’s of the similar color and fabric. There’s also a pattern reaching all across his chest down to the hem. But I’ll settle with “Not part of the uniform” as the wing pattern on the side sticks out too much and tends to be covered by the coat anyway.

The female uniform is more.. delicate. I mean the whole construction with the red crystal makes it seem like it. There’s not really much I can say though except for the male and female uniforms are different. We never get to see a female Glaive sliding into a Niflheim soldier’s DMs and fuckin’ shit up, so I don’t know whether Crowe’s outfit is a mage or female specific outfit.

Side note (and a spoiler for FFXV!): It’s possible for Ignis, Gladiolus and Prompto to wear the uniform of the Kingsglaive, with and without the coat! This is where we get to see another piece of clothing, a vest. Its sword pattern spreads over the entire front of the shirt and doesn’t just go down to the hem. It doesn’t have sleeves. We know that because Prompto only wears the vest and no shirt in game.

EDIT: Would you look at Nyx though in the following picture:

Nyx is indeed wearing the vest the Chocobros are wearing in game. So there are different pieces for the upper body and Luche’s might be just a variation. Maybe he was on a different duty that day? (Thanks to @honeyflavour-blog for telling me it’s not a shirt, but a vest!)

To back it up, have a look at this concept art inspecting every layer of clothing of Nyx further (and backing up my claims):

Carrying on!

Of course it’s the uniform we most likely see them wearing when we mention the Kingsglaive. (I think I won’t lose too many words about this part.) I’m wondering: Are they wearing another long sleeved shirt beneath the heavy coat? Because I’d say the sleeves of the coat are pretty short, covering only half of the upper arms. Or is this bit connected to what I’d consider to be the second shirt? It seems just (or almost) as thick as the coat itself.

The boots, mhmmmmmm, good stuff!!! The sound of those boots being put on and the buckles being closed.. Yas, yaaaaas. If you inspect the shoes, you’ll also notice a small metal plate protecting the heel of each boot. Extra protection maybe? I like to imagine it gives them more support and more strength to run/kick stuff in certain situations.

The female boots though.. They must be pretty uncomfortable to wear. I mean, just look at them!

Reaching all the way up to the thighs. Wouldn’t that restrict your movements? Who cares, it looks damn fine. If we further look into the concept art of Kingsglaive we get this “full set up” of the female Glaives:

The first thing I can think of is ASSASSIN! And what a pity we never realy get to see Crowe kick some ass. This outfit makes her look even more badass, if not intimidating.

I’d consider the pants to be.. less interesting so let’s move to the gloves!

Whenever you see pitchblack gloves like the following one, it tends to be (or even always is) just a minor character.

Why am I saying this? Because Tredd and Luche for example do not wear those thick gloves. Instead they wear those: (brown - Tredd, black - Luche)

I guess our main characters are too cool for school, idk.

I won’t try to justify their usefullness in battle and instead only claim “Hey, they’re different from the rest because they’re much more important than other Glaives”. Of course Nyx also has different gloves.

And Libertus’ gloves could probably knock out anyone since there are even small metal (glass? I don’t know) attachments.

Let’s get to the more juicy stuff: Their battle armor they select for missions. This is where I was genuinely surprised. I won’t argue about the practicality of the pieces we’ll inspect. In fact I’d consider most of them.. impractical. Oh well.

Notice how the usual uniform doesn’t have Bahamut’s symbol like we can see here. It’s clearly a seperate piece and being worn on top of the coat. (I’ve actually gone back and checked which uniforms have such a symbol on them. As long as I’m not entirely mistaken, the movie can’t settle with a clear option anyway. Some uniforms have this symbol, some don’t.) 

This is also where the hood they wear on missions comes from. It’s a seperate piece they choose to wear.

The metal visor thing and the bandana covering their mouth are attached to the hood and guarantees protection from dust. Furthermore they also cover up their faces which might confuse enemies. If Tredd didn’t get rid of his hood, we wouldn’t have got to see he was one of the betrayers. And today’s lesson we learned is: If you want to remain unnseen, make use of masks and similar objects and doN’T REMOVE THEM. It’s always wiser to just keep yourself covered up. Anyway, I’m getting carried away.

Instead I’d like to pinpoint a similarity: For some reason I’m reminded of Bahamut when the Glaives are wearing their masks. Only Bahamut’s eyes are visible, the rest is entirely covered. Just like when the Kingsglaive is out on a mission. Coincidence? I don’t think so since Bahamut seems to be damn important entity. Maybe the Glaives are supposed to be Bahamut’s swords..? I don’t know where I’m going with this.

Let’s get to the armor in particular.

The metal plate with Bahamut’s symbol is probably the most recognizable as we’ve seen it almost everywhere and anywhere. It typically covers a part of the chest. If I’m not entirely mistaken, we’ve seen Glaives wear them on both sides.

And then there are three bits of shoulder protection. The first one is the one we see in the picture above. Its pattern is similar to a wing (Bahamut’s wing?)

Just noticed Mr. Unknown up there makes it clear they are indeed just wearing their usual uniform and just pile everything else up on top on it... C’mon, that should get uncomfortable at some point! Aren’t they supposed to be quick and deadly? Whatever.

Luche is wearing the wing as well. And Axis went for the second kind of shoulder protection we get to see. Sonitus should be wearing it as well. And Tredd doesn’t need to be wearing a fuckin’ hood, okay.

Nyx has the third and last one and probably the most useless one.

Thin metal pads. I have nothing else to say. If someone understand the structure of the Kingsglaive outfit, please enlighten me.

@laciewhy came up with an interesting idea when it comes to the protection, though it sadly doesn’t seem to fit for every single Glaive: Maybe the different parts indicate the Glaive’s preferred fighting style. Heavy, thick armor implies brute force and heavy impact while the lighter parts are worn by people who move fast like assassins and don’t want to decrease the speed they move forward.

I sadly can’t get solid screenshots of the reoccuring daggers wielded by the rather unimportant members. The one we see in the picture above is rather.. untypical. But then there are people like Nyx and Luche with different daggers.

LIES, ALL LIES! Of course you can get good pictures of their daggers. Would you look at that:

The typical daggers have a slightly curved shape. I guess it makes it easy to ram the blade into either the enemy or an object. 

This is the one Luche is using and it’s even more curved than the one before. (Sadly hard to see.) And then there’s Libertus with something more of an axe/butcher knife than a dagger, holy shit. I never noticed that before!

Since @the-galahdian-warrior wanted to have Drautos’ outfit as well, let’s go for Daddy Drautos, no? 

His first appearance in the movie. (I’ll directly assume the producers/animators/whoever forgot to add Drautos’ medals to his chest but I’ll get back to those later.)

Whenever I look at a shot of Drautos’ whole body, I get this sense of sheer authority and force. You really don’t want to mess with this guy. It’s obvious he’s part of the Kingsglaive. Just look at the back of his coat (Bahamut’s sword) and at his chest (similar to the Glaive’s shirt with Bahamut’s sword). But overall it’s vastly different. First of all, his color (of course), but also the collar is more impressive. But the outfit is also asymmetrical. A cape which actually consists of two layers over his left shoulder, but not his right. Chains on his right side, but not his left. You see him and you just know this guy means business.

I don’t know about the quality but of course there’s also a concept art of his outfit. Definetely check it out! There’s one last thing I want to inspect though: His medals and his sword.

While the Glaives stick to daggers and similar, short weapons, Daddy D has a real sword, distinguishing himself further from the members. Now the medals.. If I’m not mistaken, he wears each medal twice. So let’s cross fingers and try to find a medal similar to his. Since the production team of FFXV has stated they directed the game towards the Western audience I think it’s fine to check Army Medals and Ribbons.

I’ll simply let good, old wiki speak: “The medal was created in the aftermath of the Second World War to recognize those who had performed occupation service in either Germany, Italy, Austria, or Japan. [...] The Navy and Marine equivalent of the Army of Occupation Medal is the Navy Occupation Service Medal.”

“The NATO Medal is an international military decoration which is awarded to various militaries of the world under the authority of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).”

“The Commendation Medal is a mid-level United States military decoration which is presented for sustained acts of heroism or meritorious service.”

Listen, I’m not saying that’s what Drautos’ medals represent, but it’s either thought through or a fitting coincidence. The pendants beneath the ribbons seem to be a Lucian/Insomnian inspired medal referring to the shape of Insomnia’s walls.

We're friends and he's a lot kinder with me than with other girls and he said he likes me before but he doesn't make any other steps. Like he's afraid of sth and idk what. He never starts a convo but when I text him he just doesn't let the conversation die. He double and triple texts just to keep it going. But never starts it first. How can I show him I like him without scaring him off?

Helloo, it looks to me like this Capricorn guy is a little shy. He does seem to be interested in you, but is too scared to show it. Which can be a little confusing sometimes. If you want him to notice how you feel. you should just be yourself around him, show him that you are comfortable being with him. Also, Capricorns tend to be bit cold or though sometimes. So if he acts different around you, more soft and accepting, than he probably likes you a lot, just say'in. I think the best way to show him you like him is to just tell him, or just ask him out! It seems easier done than said, but that's really the best advice i can give you.I hope this was usefull to you! Good luck! Hope it works out! :)(And don't forget, not all Capricorns are the same!)

Quirk time ‘Believer’

Lately, I’ve been obssessed by a kind of power which I can’t seem to balance right.

When I was little, there were a few things that my parents did to soothe my fears and my acting when I ‘hurt’ myself. Some silly acts like puting two fingers on the painful part and imitate an electric shock; or just kiss lightly (like Recovery Girl in fact)

And hey. I find it pretty funny!

Though, with all I have in mind, it could seems like an overpowered quirk (And I’m trying hard to not):

> With the Zappy finger thing, it could turn as real weak impluses and so be used to help blood circulating; but strong enough to also be used as an automatic defibrilator for urgencies! It could also be used to paralyse some members when pulsing on the right nerves or articulation. I also thought about stunning opponent by making blood go faster in one’s body but idk about that. I’m not a biologist major haha!

> For the Magical kiss, I didn’t wanted to make it like Recovery Girl. For one because it would be WAY TO STRONG DAMMIT, this quirk do have multiple aspects after all. Second: I try to be as original as possible and there is no interest for me to just take what is already existing. So here, it would be an anaestetic power used for small parts. It can anaestesiate a mouth but not a whole head. A whole arm but not a bust.

> I’ve always laughed with my father over hiding behind my pinky and so he no longer could see me. (like when a parent hides his face when playing with a baby, and then shows it again, “where is daddy?” “He’s here!”) And basically… When hiding behind a pinky, the owner became invisible. Though this position is nowhere near confortable. You’ve got an entire ARM blocked for this quirk. But, it still can be usefull.

> In France, there is a thing going on among kids, and calls some shoes “Les chaussures qui courent vite”. Litteraly: running fast shoes. I don’t know if it occurs in other countries (but it wouldn’t be surprised) but yes. Believing that it is a pair of shoes that run fast rather than oneself is quite funny. Here, it would be THAT particuliar pair of shoes, drew or seen in a shop or whatever. Maybe it wouldn’t be effective until the department of support actually create this pair for the owner? Like something really precious but it’s just, y’know, a pair of shoes.

And so, the principle of the quirk is: The owner has to believe in this crap for it to works. When the owner stop believe in it, then the quirk is no longer effective. Only works with small childrens believes (like no Santa, and no ‘I can fly’ thing). Needless to say: more the kid became a teenager / an adult, less the quirk tend to be effective (even if it actually happens for them, questions remains, and it’s not much of believing but rather understanding) OR Meet a precious girl of about 16yo which has a mental state of 5yo!

She’s still under construction and I don’t even know if I will keep her in the end but she would have two faces.

For one, she doesn’t want to work, is always playing, trying to bring everyone to play dolls and cars with her. Really cheerful, she has no language filter (and so god I hope she’ll never meet Bakugo, cuz she will 1) annoys the fuck out of him 2) learn his slangs and insults.). She speaks her mind. But all that in order to keep her imagination safe: her dream is to become a rescue hero, she looks upon Recovery Girl as her role model.

On the other hand, she’s a teenager trying to get over her teenage angst. When alone at her flat, she will listen to emo songs (my chemical romance on top of the list), while drawing strange things, all black, purple and shit.

If she can keep that two-characters thing so well, it’s because of her quirk. It unconciously helps her remain a little girl, acting on her moral as Kirishima’s quirk has been acting on his body (talking about his sharp teeth, but I don’t remember if it is my headcanon or if it’s canon…)

Both sides are shown in her charadesign (I tried to draw it but since I’m not that good…) :

> Her hair is black with strand both purple and pink; sometime dark blue and green. She likes to change to whatever, but always makes sure that both colors correspond to her 5yo and 16yo self.

> She wears a red rebbon, and headphones staying around her neck.

> When casual, she wears sweet lolita or Gothic Lolita, depending on who she’s with. (first alone or with friends, second with familly or really old acquitances like her best friends.)

> She stays in pajamas at home.

I didn’t thought of her hero costume yet, but I may describe her further in a character panel instead. … I … Actually filled blanks while writing this? Well. Here you go haha! I really like this Quirk, I hope I can create a character which can embrace this quirk so well. :)

I've fallen in love with your art it's super pretty, and soft, and beautiful💞 I just wanted to ask if you have any tips for learning anatomy (like idk, books you recommend, YouTube videos, literally whatever you think will be useful) Your grasp on anatomy is incredible and I dont even know how to start learning it

And now after all those words I kinda feel stupid because I don’t really have any links to share? I don’t actively look for tips/tutorials because I don’t really have any aspirations to be a professional artist. 

Although I’d say (however annoying it is) I wouldn’t be able to choose tutorial. A lot of them go for “do this, don’t do that” without explaining why or showing purposefully bad art example of why thing bad. If you know what are you doing, or you are experimenting go with the “don’t” way. As a experiment it’s really freeing to know that you don’t have to create good art because you are using “wrong” way anyway.

As for anatomy you need to find a way that works for you. Maybe it would be drawing ikea roll of paper of small doodles from reference (i personally find them tedious and never done it). Maybe the 10-5-1 minute drawings are the way for you. Maybe studying ad drawing the muscle structure  (i studied but never draw out the charts because again, tedious). Don’t feel guilty if some proper method doesn’t work for you. 

Maybe you just need to use reference for certain drawing you have in mind. It’s still studying! Maybe you can use a poseable body-kun. Whatever works for you- works. Of course along the way you may learn some bad habits. But learning process requires to take a step back sometimes and maybe taking different path.

As for me I kinda try to find balance between two kinda contradictory rules:

Draw what you know, not what you think you know.

When I was studying architecture they had us drawing stacks of prisms for half a year and it was really important to construct the whole prism, especially the part we didn’t see.  Same goes for for anatomy. Consider the simplified body (and skull!) shape even for the pats you won’t “include” in your picture.

You don’t need to be accurate at detail placement. You need to be accurate at proportions between the details placements.

This works for example in photo realistic portraits.You can nicely catch the likeness from the photo and be quite happy with it and then overlay original photo and see all the inconsistencies. And they are not bad because your drawing still works. Because the proportions are kept at consistent logic. That’s how caricature drawings still work and are catching person likeness.

Because proportions are not AB is 1.65 of BC always and forever. It’s just a guideline. For example: common guide is that your hand is the size of your face. Well bullshit. I have high forehead and short fingers so my palm length is shorter than my face. So proportions are more like what if i change AB to be 2.5 of BC. How it will consistently affect CD length?

Damn I started rambling

so maybe tl;dr: it’s all fake it till you make it but it’s usefull to know what and and especially _how_ are you faking it. And that’s how tutorials are usefull. But try to be aware what you are taking from them when you pick and choose your way of progress :)
