Halsin:
Halsin’s the outdoorsy BBQ dad who takes you on family camping trips.
You learn all of your life-saving skills from daddy Halsin. How to build a campfire from scratch, how to safely put one out, how to pitch a tent, how to fish.
A particular core memory you share with your dad is when he brought you to the lakeside, teaching you how to skip rocks across the calm waters.
“Look for flat rocks, little one. The ones you can run the pads of your thumbs over.” Halsin hums, the rocks crunching under his shoes as his eyes scan for the best rocks to gather for you to practice with.
His strong arms give the best hugs, and his broad shoulders are the best to lean on when sitting down next to him.
You already know all the moms simp over him when he shows up for school gatherings 💀
They see how attentive he is, how he’s always at LEAST 10 minutes early to your recitals, games, award ceremonies, fundraisers, you name it. He’s always willing to volunteer if the school staff need an extra pair of muscles too.
Since he volunteers a lot, he starts to become pretty popular amongst your classmates too. Definitely the cool dad without trying to be the cool dad.
Probably one of the coaches for the local little league
Mans has an affair with his grill. That thing is his BABY. It’s sacred.
Your weekend evenings are filled with the cool summer evening air against your skin and the faint scent of bug spray and the smoke from dad’s grill, playing with your yard toys.
He’s happy to have helpers as long as you ask! He’s a very patient teacher. He’ll pass you a turning fork and a meat paintbrush to perfectly cover the meat in his homemade BBQ sauce that was passed down for generations.
“Look at you, making dinner all by yourself!” He’d let out a hearty laugh, a proud smile on his face as he eats with the rest of the family, the small glow of a latern on the table outside illuminating his face. “It tastes better than I usually make it. Well done.”
He can hike like a motherfucker
There is not one trail this man has not conquered. His favorite is always one closest to the waterfalls wherever you all camp.
You are his pride and joy and he shows it. A HUGE sucker for you but he is firm with discipline. Refuses to hit you, only believes in consequence with experience.
Will 100% put you in the timeout corner. Is not fooled by toddler crocodile tears.
He has expectations, but he’s such a caring dad to the point where you don’t really see them as annoyances or burdens.
He’s a listener. If you’re going through something, he’ll listen and carry it out. Helps you in all the ways he knows how.
Puts a LOT of trust in you, highly suggest you don’t break that trust as you get older and become more independent.
Hyper-protective but not in a helicopter parent way. Just pls always give him frequent calls and updates whenever you’re out otherwise he will worry.
His texting style is very brief but you can tell he cares lol
“dad I’m going to my friend’s house and staying the night.”
“👍❤️” “Stay safe. Call me when you get there.”
Idk if I stressed this: DAD BEAR HUGS !!
Dad Song™️ that reminds you of him: You’ll Be In My Heart - Phil Collins
Tumblr media
Wyll:
Wyll’s the nostalgic workaholic, attentive and caring dad who taught you life lessons that you’ll think about for the rest of your life.
He’s very very passionate about helping as many people as he can and saving those who need it the most, so I picture him being gone a lot due to work.
He probably travels a lot and you were mostly with your other parent while growing up.
However, when he is home, I cannot explain to you how amazing of a father your dad is.
Like, I can picture your other parent getting so fed up with all the responsibilities of holding down the fort so long without his help, and when he walks in the door, all of that tension is just gone.
He’s a movie dad, probably knows all the classic films and wins all of the trivia games when it comes to 60s - 2000s movies.
(No, seriously, never bring this man to an Olive Garden or a Chili’s to play the trivia games on the little iPads. He’ll win every fucking time.) 💀
That also means frequent movie nights when he’s home!
Imagine being cuddled up with popcorn, laying beside your dad on the couch while he makes side commentary on the plot that makes you laugh.
If you show him a movie or a song, he’s very attentive and will ask many questions, such as “Who’s this actress? She’s really talented” or “When was this made?"
When you were a baby, he'd be the type to sway with you in his arms, singing to one of his favorite songs as it played on the stereo in the morning
Occasionally, he still does it. He gets really happy if you learn the lyrics and sing with him. 😭
Being active is a big, big thing for him. Please, play outside. Be a kid. Don’t be cooped up inside. He HATES that.
He’s gonna encourage sports, as long as you stay up-to-date on studies and try your best.
I don’t see him getting upset if you have grades below an A. Just as long as you’re passing and trying your best, he’s happy.
However, if you have a goal to get into a competitive school, he might push you a little.
“The hardest steps are always the first ones. After you pass that, you will sail.”
Whenever anyone at the school is giving you shit, please, please tell him. He'll be so heartbroken if his baby doesn't come to him with their problems. ☹️
I don’t think it’s a surprise that he’s not going to swear in front of you, or encourage drinking or sneaking out of any kind.
He volunteers a lot at your school events, similar to Halsin. They have frequent conversations together, bonding over their little bundles of joy. 😭
When you get older, he’s teaching you everything he KNOWS about adulthood
Shows you how to do your taxes the DAY you turn 17 so you’re a year ahead and don’t have to pay anyone, takes you out to practice driving a lot, helps you move into your college dorm.
“Are you positive you have everything you need? I know I’m not here frequently, but I’ll drop my duties if you need anything.”
I think for your 18th birthday, he gets matching tattoos with you and lets you pick out the design/the words.
He flaunts it a lot, regardless of whatever it is.
You’re his BABY!! He’s so proud to be your dad 🥹

Astarion:
Astarion is 100% the "don't tell your mom" dad who lets you get away with murder.
Astarion never pictured himself as someone who would be having children. He didn't even think he'd be a good father. So when you were born, everything crashed around him, and all he could see was tunnel vision when your tiny hand held his finger. 🥹
However, please keep in mind that he has no idea what the literal fuck he is doing when he's getting into the whole "dad" thing. Whenever you spit up, start bawling, or shit yourself he just holds you up like "What the fuck do I do?"
This slowly fades as you get older and he goes from holding you like a fragile piece of glass to hoisting you up by one arm like you were a sack of potatoes.
Encourages mischievous behavior. If you want a cookie before dinner, you get one. If you want to watch TV past 9:00, he won't tattle.
Whenever you're young, it's a little difficult to get along with your dad, surprisingly, but mainly just because he doesn't know how to properly play with you and give you the one-on-one you need. But trust that he'll be there. Just distant.
As you get older, though, he finds it easier to relate to things with you, and you grow closer. Especially when you start learning how to gossip. God, he loves that. Tell him what that one bitch told you in the hallways. He's the BEST at talking shit.
"Honestly, darling, you need to use that backbone I gave you. The best way to piss somebody off is to act like they can't touch you. Come on, practice on me. Tell me my mother's a whore."
Yeah, you get in trouble quite often. You're Astarion's kid. Who's surprised?
However, your little eyes light up whenever the teacher threatens to call your father. That man is your lawyer in the principal's office.
He is the school board's worst nightmare. It's so good. 🤭
"So what if they put gum in her hair? Honestly, though, have you SEEN her? She needs some color in her hair, I think. I believe they were helping her, personally."
I'm sorry but if you stay at home a lot of the time and you're in your teens, he WILL give you shit for it.💀
You always remember seeing him sitting on the couch, one leg crossed over the other, swirling a glass of wine in his hand as he stares at you with that raised eyebrow.
"It's a Friday night. You have friends, don't you? Sneak out every once and a while. Be a kid, for gods sake."
Although he's incredibly relaxed about you partying and staying out late, you'd better CALL him if you get in trouble. He always stays up to make sure you get back home safe.
One memory you always hold onto is your dad always having a hand on you in public. Whether that be on your shoulder, absentmindedly twirling your hair, hand on the small of your back, or just holding the cloth of your shirt. NOBODY is touching you. ‼️
Surprisingly, he’s a dad who prioritizes safety beyond everything else. Look both ways, carry pepper spray at all times, always carry cash, never have your phone below 20 percent out of the house. More importantly, CALL him if you’re walking home alone so people know not to fuck with you.
He has your location on and checks it frequently, but don’t worry, he’s not anal about anything as long as it’s in character for you.
Because of this, you have the best street smarts out of all your friends.
He's an absolute NIGHTMARE at your school games. Talks shit to all of the parents on the other side and is the loudest when it comes to calling out the refs for bad calls.
“Double dribble?! Where?! How about you double dribble on this dic—“
He's gotten escorted out of the gymnasium a few times. 💀
When you get older, he becomes someone you confide in a LOT. And he’s going to be there for you, no matter the circumstance.
Overall, he just wants to give you a better life than he had. He's the most loyal father EVER.
Dad Song™️ that reminds you of him: Renegade - Styx
Tumblr media
Gale:
Like Astarion, Gale is also a "don't tell your mom'' dad, but for very, very different reasons.
He's just a sucker for you, honestly. Can't say no to your big puppy eyes that you got from him.
I don’t think it’s a surprise that Gale’s secretly always wanted to be a father. That man gets off on sharing his knowledge. Passing that down to a little tiny Dekarios running around the house is right up his alley.
Gale just absolutely loves being a dad.
He loves playing pretend with you, getting to see how your little mind works while he crawls on the floor pretending to be a horse while you ride on his back.
Playing hide and seek is his favorite because you giggle so loudly and hide in such an obvious spot every time. It’s the cutest thing ever.
“Hmm… Where could that little rager have run off to…? I wonder~” He’d grin, staring right at the blanket you had so deviously hidden under.
Gale would buy those math flashcards to teach you times tables when you’re way too young for it.
You don’t care though because you get to spend time with your dad and his frustration’s funny when you just stare blankly at him.
Another thing he loves to do is read to you. You know those preschool teachers who show the book around and make little voices for the characters? That's him.
As you get older, you learn what to go to him for.
If you fake a sickness because you don't want to go to school, he's coming to pick you up. Even though he's very well aware that you're faking, and you're gonna get an earful of a lecture about it, he's always there if you need him.
He'd take you out for ice cream and while you're stuffing your face, he has the most disapproving look on his face.
"You know, you can't expect to get good grades if you've got chocolate ice cream in your stomach while the other kids are getting fed important information, sweetheart. Are you listening to me?"
As you get older please be gentle with him because he still sees you as a freshly wrapped-up newborn. It breaks his heart whenever you get in arguments when you reach your rebellious hormonal teenage persona.
Despite your issues with your dad being a little overprotective with high expectations, he's such a teddy bear and you grow a big soft spot for him as you get over your rebellion.
He's very easy to make laugh if you pull pranks on him. If you hide behind one of the doors and scare him, he's so animated it's great.
"I'm getting old, you know! You'll make my heart stop one of these days!" He'll joke, laughing through his rapid heartbeats.
He always has photos of you as a baby and insists on taking photos at all your big moments. Your graduation, he's first in line to take a picture with his baby. Damned scholarships can wait. He's the one who raised you.
Posts pictures of you all the time with witty captions and might throw a baby photo or two in the mix for a bit of nostalgia.
"Still terrorizing my wallet after all these years. I am a walking piggy bank. 😂 Love you, you hellion! Happy birthday. 🥳" Posted with a picture of you as a baby with one of those boujee toy kitchen sets right next to a picture of you getting your first car.
He's so posh about his cooking and will insist on eating at home ALL the time. You started to grow sick of it but after moving out you missed home-cooked foods so bad. Everytime you visit, you INHALE your dad's food.
Wears a "Kiss the Cook" apron, plays music whenever he grills.
Speaking of grilling, all the dads get together to grill once every few months but Astarion doesn't participate and just brings his family there for the free food because he can't be asked to cook. 😭

one of my favorite things about the hunger games and rereading them is that suzanne collins did an extremely good job of making katniss a teenager. like katniss’s emotions really show her age in a way that’s so important.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like these are less than 10 pages apart. she’s confused, her emotions are all over the place and she doesn’t understand anything she’s feeling. idk if this makes sense but rereading it really makes me understand how young she is.

FEMALE MOVIE/TV RECS (PART 3 / SCI-FI)
got inspired from a recommendation post so decided to make a list of movies and shows with female-centric stories/female protagonists. since i can't post all of the genres in one post, i'll split it into multiple posts and y'all can save or add to the list as you wish. (disclaimer: i have watched most of these, but i only know about the existence of others. not every movie/show on these lists will be my recommendation. my recommendations will be beneath the list with reasons. also some of these are way better than others in terms of storytelling/performance--which is why i'll list my faves separately):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Common Themes in the Media Listed:
-Women and girls fighting against oppressive regimes
-Unholy discoveries about the secrets of the universe
-Protagonists fighting an enemy they don't understand
-Dystopias, sickness and disaster literally everywhere
-Survivalism, action and (occasionally) comedy
-Father/daughter and older daughter/younger kid protective relationships
-How does humanity die--aliens, robots, zombies or hubris?
WHAT I HAVEN'T WATCHED:
Silo (although my sister highly recommends it)
Vesper
Invasion
Fallout
Arrival
Prometheus
Aliens
Alita: Battle Angel
The Girl With All the Gifts
The Last of Us
I Am Mother
Colossal
Rebel Moon
What Happened to Monday
Ashoka
Prey
Moonhaven
Bumblebee
The 100
Ghost in the Shell
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED:
Foundation (10/10) (I cannot sing its praises enough)
Annihilation (8.5/10)
The Hunger Games (10/10)
Rogue One (7/10)
PERSONAL NOTES
Colossal is actually a sci-fi comedy, but ultimately a comedy first. So it's tonally different from most of these.
While I found Mortal Engines and The 5th Wave entertaining, I can also say that they are objectively not that good. You can only enjoy Mortal Engines if you enjoy spectacle, don't mind cliches, and don't know anything about physics (or care).
I don't remember much of The Rise of Skywalker because by the time I was watching it, I had only watched Star Wars 3 out of the whole series so I was pretty lost. But I remember enjoying the fight scenes.
Please watch Foundation! Like, if you claim to love sci-fi you have to do it. Two of the three main characters are women, Gaal Dornick and Salvor Hardin. Gaal is a mathematical genius and Salvor is just . . . chef's KISS! Also, both are women of color! Like! If you wish there was some kind of grand-scale sci-fi like Dune with a female lead, Foundation is it! It's based on the books by Isaac Asimov (who was a rancid misogynist), and it is unfaithful to his work in the best ways! (Gaal and Salvor were not women in the books.) The only "issue" is it focuses more on American type-heroism rather than the sociological focus of the book (the point of the books was literally about how individualism does about fuckall in determining the future and it's easier to predict human behaviour on a large scale but much harder the smaller your data size). But it still makes for fantastic storytelling.
Alita: Battle Angel may be said to have the born-sexy-yesterday trope, but I'm not sure she's overtly sexualized in the movie. I looked at her designs and they look tasteful. Might be some stories issues.
If you haven't watched The Hunger Games, idk what to tell you except you should be doing that right now. If you claim to like movies in general. It's so good, I cannot begin to break down precisely why it's so good. Suzanne Collins is a genius!

Auntie Pikachu's Thoughts~~~ on Ep03 of Only Friends
boston ate nick's ass in the shower so everyone can stop calling him a selfish lover now (and gave top a blowjob! that boy was in a manipulative but giving mood today lmao)
I find the hostel storyline completely out of my depth I'ma assume this is just something about Thai culture I don't know about b/c uni students in my era never renovated and opened a whole ass business like they were on HGTV
I find the Ray/Sand storyline the least interesting and most predictable of the bunch I said what I said!!!
The twist about Ray and Mew hooking up was great (no I don't think boston was lying about that) I can't wait to go deeper into that cause I wanna see more depth into Ray's feelings for Mew
Boston is the only bitch in the house who understands the assignment which is to be messy, and sexy he is the New York of the show, he is Tiffany Polland
I need them to stop dancing (badly) and singing (also badly) in this show please the cringe I can take chars making bad decisions but the bad dancing hurts my soul let me rest I beg
I'm holding to it that Boston genuinely does like Nick as a person but not as a boyfriend cause he's dickimiztied by Top (stand UP Boston) Boston's my favorite b/c he's neither "good" nor "bad" he does shitty things and then he has moments where he's genuinely nice to Nick
If I was 10 years younger I'd probably woobie-fy the fuck outta Boston b/c it's so easy and becoming easier each episode but woobies are boring and basic and I'm to Fandom Old for that shit
I wanna know why Sand hates Top so much GIMMIE THAT INFO it's delicious it's the most interesting storyline Sand's got right now *phil collins voice* I WANNA KNOW CAN YOU SHOW ME
Nick baby stand UP do not be the grape jolly rancher of the pack babygirl you can't fix fuckbois!!!
the car scene just showed how annoying car sex can be lmao still hot tho mess 4 mess right there
The latter half of the episode had editing and lighting issues idk what happened there
I noticed the costuming department is trying with these chars which as a costume ho I appreciate a lot
I preferred the use of social media this episode compared to the confessionals last episode but I would like some consistency regarding the device like are we gonna get a new~ thing every episode? Idk how I feel about that kinda hoping we just stick with different forms of social media going forward
Final thoughts: Boston and Chueam looked extra hot today I was shaking

okay! My aro and or ace headcannons:
dr who (of any regeneration but i stared believing with the 10th) as fully asexual, sex neutral, not quite replused but is like whats the hype? Humans are weird. I also comsider him somewhere in the demiromantic, greyromantic sides of things. I wasnt mad when he was put in romantic relationships, but i dont think hes the type to often seek them out. (Paired with abandonment issues i dont think he ever needs a romantic parter (like do allos think they need a romantic partner??? Idk))
Sherlock (from bbc sherlock) idk if this is self explanatory or not i guess not since ive seen a lot of johnlock stuff in my time lol. But like he is confused by every concepr of sex and romance. Like he used someones crushe on him as a manipulation tactic. Doesnt often see how what he does hurts those with crushes on him. And like he is neurodivgent so i dont want to say he is aroace because of that, but it certaintly shouldnt take awah just how aro ace i see him. (Also fuck john for his causual anormativity in that show. Blatantly horrible)
aziraphale and crowley from good omens as asexual just cuz they dont need it. Theyre relationship is levels of queer, and in their relationship i dont think they need or want sexual intamacy.
muriel also from good omens as aroace. They are just innocent to me. But not to imply the idea that innocence=lack of sexual/romantic attractjon and or desire. I just dont think it suits them.
frenchie from ofmd, newest headcannon, he just never shows any interest? And i love that? Doesnt care about any of it. Is like yea okay, will politely decline anything
the corinthean from the sandman (tv) as aroallo. I can only exsplain this as he is a bisexual slut to me. Murderer who is a babygirl. He isnt intrested in romance but is (in the nicest way, not deragatory or anything) a slut. Will fuck around (and find out)
will graham from hannibal as heteroromantic, homosexual. Idk if this counts, just his romantic and sexual attraction dont line up, so he is aromantic toward men and asexual toward women.
lazlo from wwdits as bisexual/polyamorus (thats cannon but also) aromantic in some way. He doesnt have romantic attraction when he hooks up with someone, only has romantic toward nadja (his wife) .
collin robinson from wwdits as ace/aro flux i cant explain this one. He just is.
captian jack from dr who/torchwood. Cannonically bisexual but to me he is biromantic and homosexual. Agian idk if this counts. Its just not what i would consider an alloromantic exsperience to have split attractions.
theres probably more that im forgetting but heres the list for my more recently watched shows.
This is a 10/10 list and I fully believe them all now even tho I don’t belong to half of these fandoms

Hey darling, these questions please
10, 11, 12 from personal asks
18, 19, 20 from the writing asks
Tumblr media
skyeee ! thank you 🥺 you are always so cool and it always makes my day when i see you around 💕
10. last movie you watched?
Five Nights at Freddy's (2023) !!! I have been following the production of that film since January of this year (I love Josh Hutcherson.) It was so dope to see in theaters as a childhood fan of the game and a huge fan of both Matt Lillard and Josh Hutcherson. Also wanted to lick JHutch's face the whole time. That's my girlfriend. Have I mentioned how much I love him?
11. last book you read?
oh girl...uh. not counting Shakespeare it's been...a minute. probably Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. no I didn't finish it.
12. last show you watched?
criminal minds is my comfort show, unfortunately for everyone, and also unfortunately for everyone i have been needing a lot of comfort this past month. idk if falling asleep to the serial murder show or the silent hill 3 OST is worse. you decide!
18. when do you get most of your ideas and inspiration for writing?
honestly when i'm doing fuck all is the best time for my brain to create things. high fever brought me the idea for revisionist history as it currently is, and having this cold now (one month later) has me co-writing a mad men au 🤠 and finishing a marcus pike oneshot. not getting any scripts done for class but whatever lol
19. describe your editing process
honestly...bad. ok well no. let's go with light. lighter than it should probably be. I edit in chunks as I write, then I'll leave it and specifically go back in to edit. Then I'll make some more tweaks and although I know it isn't perfect, I post and then usually ~the next day-ish I go into the post (on ao3 or Tumblr) and find any typos once again.
20. music, ambient noise, or silence when writing?
music always unless it's a specific scene that I can pull up specific youtube soundscapes for ...like a zombie apocalypse for example *cough*. anyway— the world tipped on its side and subsequent chapters are named after songs/lyrics, music heavily influences what I write and how I write it. with my place on the spectrum, it's really hard to function without music - it's kind of an integral part of my existence at this point. that's why my headphones look like shit 😭
questions!

my wk ranking from favorite to worst book alive personally goes;
- white knight presents: red hood (by clay mccormack) — yet to read it because i can’t bring myself to willingly read a jason book, but my girlfriend (wk expert) swears by it and i trust her.
- white knight presents: harley quinn (by katana collins) — gorgeous art, wistful feel, collins' representation of post partum depression was sooo everything, writing i adore; genuinely a ten out of ten book.
- white knight presents: generation joker (by katana collins and clay mccormack) — i would LOVE to rank this higher but it’s just a bit under presents hq. art that shows the twins as young as they are, finally, as murphy's art is good but makes them look fifteen at the youngest as opposed to their actual age of twelve. THEEEE twins book ever. siblingisms are insane. bryce has a personality! dyke subplot that is actually essential to the book. it’s so good because murphy had little influence.
big quality drop.
- beyond the white knight — nothing to write home about. pacing issues. little focus on jackie & more on terry & the adults, which is fine ig. jack's insistence on trying to homosexualize bruce made me laugh. decent book but i wouldn’t rec it to anyone. jackie :]
HUGEEEEE quality drop.
- white knight — i really genuinely hate this book. it’s shitty. it may have been less shitty if murphy didn’t add the pointless racist politics & blatant copaganda (copaganda that just grows stronger throughout all his books btw) but he did so. it’s just...bad. it sets up the world & gives a background for everything but idk. it's bad.
- curse of the white knight — worst wk book that i’ve read. nonsensical, largely pointless, horrible jpv takes. also just like hard to get through and not that good writing wise. uncomfortable. 0/10. the nazis were weird.
- WHITE KNIGHT PRESENTS: VON FREEZE — WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN. haven’t read it but i can and WILL still be a hater. it’s not the fact that there’s nazis in this book that i hate, it’s how unnecessary all this is. they shouldn’t be there. they could be a generic secret evil organization and it would make literally no difference. murphy mayyy have been trying to make a “i’m not like other batman writers, i think nazis are bad!!!” point but he could have just. not put them there at all. also he’s a white man and weird about it.

10 books to get to know me by
thank you @fastasyoucan1999 @shipsnsails :)
the shadow of the wind, carlos ruiz zafón- this is my favorite book! it’s beautiful and reads as a love letter to book lovers <3 i wish i could read it in its original text. i wish i could read it for the first time again.
are you my mother?, p.d. eastman - this is a children’s book. when i was little, around 3/4, i had my parents read it to me so much that i had it memorized and before i could actually read i would flip through the pages “pretending” to read it back to them but actually just reciting it by memory
the hunger games trilogy, suzanne collins - i read this growing up and i remember my parents wanted to read it because it was so popular at the time and so i lent them my copies and it felt so cool, like i was a grown up or something. was a lot of fun going to the theaters to watch the films with them and my brother :)
pride and prejudice, jane austen - favorite classic! elizabeth bennet, a girl after my own heart <3
why we broke up, daniel handler & art by maira kalman - this is lemony snicket and it’s silly and trivial and it reads a bit like watching a late 90s/early 2000s indie film, but idk it’s like a comfort movie in book form to me. sometimes i’ll pick it up and read a couple chapters without intention to finish it through, you know, like watching just one episode of your comfort show, just to fall back into it for a little while
young mungo, douglas stuart - a new favorite! this one is pretty popular on here for good reasons i think
the goldfinch, donna tartt- loved this, could not get through the film erm but loved the book!
marley and me: life and love with the world’s worst dog, john grogan - i read this a long long time ago now but this is the first book that made me cry (like so much i had to stop because i couldn’t read the page) and it is also the first book that made me actually laugh aloud
wuthering heights, emily brontë - had to read this for school. i remember thinking i would not like it. i was wrong.
all the light we cannot see, anthony doerr - a beautiful, beautiful book. another one i lent to my dad after reading — he has a goal to read all the pulitzer prize winners
tags! @tempusfugitandallthatblog @meanbryn @thebloatedfrog @oohloverboyyy

wait wait you like minari too? your taste is impecabble<3 just wondering, do you have any other favourite movies/recs?
sat on this bc I wanted to give a detailed response lolz I love minari so much I thought about youn yuh-jung's performance in that film for such a long time after watching it she was so gorgeous and so phenomenal and when she won the best supporting actress Oscar I about lost my damn mind, so so deserved
other things I love in no particular order:
-the favourite (I love Yorgos Lanthimos' work the lobster is another favorite and his new one coming out poor things looks AMAZING and like it was constructed specifically with all of my own personal tastes in mind - I'm so excited for it and need to read the book immediately)
-not to be a film bro but interstellar is top two of my favorite films of all times idc Nolan is a master and I watch and love everything he makes (ive watched tenet like 10 times and still have no idea wtf is going on and I LIKE THAT about it )
-not to be a basic bitch now but pride and prejudice is my favorite movie ever ever I watch it at least once a month every single month it'll never get old and yes I do cry at the end every time
-to go hand in hand with my love of historical romance novels I am also a great lover of period dramas obviously I love Emma (2020) so much it's a gorgeous work of art, Jane eyre (2011) I love Mia wasikowska, Marie Antoinette and anything else Sofia Coppola has ever made, Anna karenina (another Joe wright masterpiece)
-anything Wes Anderson but particularly Rushmore (1998) which is one of his lesser known films I feel like but it means a lot to me for various very personal reasons and I wish more people talked about it (I need to watch asteroid city immediately)
-PHANTOM THREAD greatest romcom of all time (jk hehe) but fuck Paul Thomas Anderson I don't like that dude
-everything guillermo del torro but particularly crimson peak (guillermo my man pls pls pls plsssssssss do Dracula and cast Adam driver I'll give u my first born plsssss splsssssss guillermo father pleaaassseeeeee!!!!)
-the green knight !!!!!!!!!!!! changed my brain when I watched it dev Patel is so fucking hot but also like it was just so gorgeous and such a wonderful adaptation and the monster fucker in me low key liked the green knight himself likeeeeeeee idk what to say I am the way I am
-Robert Eggers the light house, the man from uncle (I love most guy Richie films I love his high paced action and all that fun stuff), park chan-wook's STOKER !!!!!!!! I fucking love that film omg, everything Denise villeneuve too but particularly arrival is a goddamn masterpiece and it's so wrong that Amy Adams didn't win the Oscar for that (poor Amy with the no Oscar curse)
-for like comfort movies stepmom (1998) - devastating but I watch it all the time if I could live in any house from a movie ever it'd be Susan Sarandon's house in that movie, billy elliot (2000), 20th century women (2016), lady bird, funny girl - BARBARA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!, howl's moving castle, this is 40 (my favorite comedy ever), paterson (2016), uptown girls, the rocky horror picture show
-oh and more recently the banshees of inisherin moved me so incredibly deeply I actually recently got in an argument with someone who said that it was pointless and stupid and I was SO OFFENDED devastating funny introspective all the things I was very sad when Collin ferrel didn't win the academy award for it I thought he was so ... I don't know what the right word is I guess like changed? in the role of padraic and GOD BERRY KEOGHAN there goes that dream I cried so hard so beautiful Kerry Condon also they were all so spectacularly devastating in that film I could go on about it for days
sorry this was so long you guys know I love to run my mouth when given the opportunity hehe

1, 2, 15, and 17 for the books ask game!! mwah<3
HIIII beloved ponyo!!!
1. Book I've reread the most times
House of Many Ways by Diana Wynne Jones. My dad got that book for me when I was like? 10? 11? I've reread it countless times since and I swear I'm not exaggerating but I have NEVER been bored while rereading it. I love that book a lot lol its my favorite ever
2. Top 5 books of all time?
really hard BUT here we go. this is not in any particular order
1. Beloved by Toni Morrison
2. Men in the Sun by Ghassan Kanafani
3. The Beginning and the End by Naguib Mahfouz
4. Season of Migration to the North by Tayyib Saleh
5. this is so funny to put next to all these but genuinely, genuinely: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
15. Recommend and review a book.
HURGHHH okay okay. The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers was a really nice read. I like science fiction and aliens and all that and it really had such creative interesting world building while simultaneously having very human beautiful characters. Some parts are :/ but to be fair I haven't read the full trilogy it's a part of so 🤷‍♀️ maybe it rectifies them. It has that lovely found family vibe and lots of fun little anecdotes within the larger plot; feels more like a TV show or a group of short stories than a novel really but it was really good and still had a cohesive narrative. I thought it was pretty fun and had some really great emotional beats. If you like sci-fi I really recommend it!
17. Top 5 children's books
WELL OKAY um hmmm. im just gonna be nostalgic here and say stuff I miss reading
uh definitely the diana wynne jones stuff (howl's moving castle, house of many ways). ADORE those two. i tried reading castle in the sky but it was just too orientalist so I put it down. I am choosing to forgive diana for it
um okay. hm. see because idk what constitutes as childrens literature bc even as a kid kid i was reading YA at the very least? i think all children should get to experience a warrior cats book at least once in their lives
guardians of ga'hoole was pretty great i remember. i loved it
okay whatever im just gonna list stuff i was reading back then whether its for kids or not:
the hunger games
eragon (i miss it so much omg)
i think that should count as five? lmfao this is such a non-answer djsjfjjfkssokdd

@candle-lion the stupid fanfic asks part 1/3, “all divisible by 3” 🫡
3: on a scale of 1-10 how much do you enjoy incorporating romance into the average story?
A solid 8! I’m a hopeless romantic at heart. I like fluffy romantic shit
6: do you have any kind of consistent writing schedule or just hoping for the best?
I write about the same times when I do write, but I’m pretty spontaneous about it. I like to write at night, but I don’t set aside specific time’s necessarily
9: in an ideal world where you’re already super successful and published, would you want to see a tv or movie adaptation of your work? why or why not?
YES. That would be COOL AS FUCK. I will say, I would be incredibly disappointed if it was a bad adaptation, but it would be cool to see the characters I’ve created on screen anyway. Plus I can bitch with the fans about what they got wrong and I think it would be fun
12: do you ever have trouble focusing on writing? how do you get around that?
Yes, constantly. Usually I will just power through, some good music and a sprint usually helps. However, sometimes I find that stepping back, having a snack, some water, and/or a nap and then trying again helps.
15: where do you share your writing?
Here, AO3, occasionally Discord. My irls can see my og stuff but they don’t see my fics.
18: what is your most and least favorite part of writing?
Favorite is when the plot clicks into place and when I get to reread That Scene in a fic that I’ve been SO excited for. Lead favorite is when the plot ISN’T clicking or I feel like I’ve written myself into a corner. Also the imposter syndrome!
21: pick a writer to co-write a book with and tell us what you’d write about.
You. Monsterfucking. Next question. /j Uuuuuuh Idk really. I am ashamed of how little I’ve read recently and not a lot of Authors come to mind. Suzanne Collins would be fun but she’s too Big Brain for me. Realistically if any of the mutuals asked me to collab, I’d probably be down tho
24: on average, how much writing do you get done in a day?
I’m all in or nothing. I’ll do 3-4k in a night or nothing for 3 days.
27: do you share rough drafts or do you wait until it’s all polished? And who do you share them with?
I share rough drafts with other writer friends (you’ve seen snippets of course). Never the whole bit really, but parts I like or I’m excited about or want advice on.
30: most inspirational quote you’ve ever read or heard that’s still important to you.
Not a specific quote, but that queering the map project? I think about that a lot. The way it’s people trying to give inspiration, trying to survive, trying to make each other laugh. It’s very showing of the kindness of humanity, I think. I want to make a journal of inspirational quotes and bits of writing that I’ve read, I’ve actually already got the empty journal, so I’ll probably be obnoxious about that!!
33: do you start with the characters or the plot when writing?
With fic, characters. It’s easier for me to begin kind of sorting through the roles and figuring out how characters fit, and work on the plot from there. With original stories, I’ll generally get a basic plot > a main character or two > the rest of the plot > then the rest of the cast

@misfitsandmischief said: 🚼 Collin and Camilo Because of course. I'd say do as many as you want tbh XD
But also @droppingdonkeys said: 🚼 I'm gonna cheat: any of the clay children you mentioned
Here they are, all the Camolin kids (so far) in age order. I couldn't remember what names we picked, also couldn't find the chat, so I just went wild with both names and gifts for them XD from the chats I could find I don’t know if the baked children are clay or bread, but they ARE cute so who cares XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cain is the oldest at 12. He turns more into a mini Camilo every day. (I'm sure we said a gift for him but I can't remember it so if I do I'll come back and put it here XD)
Callie is next, she's 10. Her glasses are actually tinted, and purely to protect her eyes during the day, because her gift is night vision.
Then Carla. She's 9, and she was the first non-baked child. Ironically, her gift is the ability to temporarily animate inanimate objects. Basically, she is queen of puppet shows, and Camilo is very proud. (Idk why she's holding a frog. He's her friend I guess)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Carla is Celeste. She's 6. (She's actually too pale here but the picrew only had so many skin tones). She's a little ray of sunshine, and her gift is her singing voice. Anybody that hears her is immediately cheered up (though how much of that is magic and how much is down to her being adorable is anyone's guess). She's also supporting a theory that any children Camilo carries himself wind up looking like Pepa.
Then the family devil, Chico. He's 3, and Camilo and Colin went back to baking for baby number 5. They're also kind of dreading his gift ceremony, because he's already chaotic without any magic.
And last (for now) the baby, Cisco! I couldn't find a good baby avatar maker but picture him at about 1 year old.

41, but the list isn't... fair? Right? IDK. It had 'The Chronicles of Narnia' but also 'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe', and 'The Complete Works of Shakespeare' but also 'Hamlet', and just a ridiculous amount of Dickens (I hate to break it to you, he's not that fancy, he was paid by the word and sometimes it shows).
