dream: "ink is another one of my close friends. she's been there for me when even nightmare couldn't, and i've supported her likewise. sometimes her head is in the clouds, so i send her texts to remind her of things like homework and such. maybe she forgets lunch sometimes, so swap and i give her a share of ours. and when ink wants to talk about anything she's thinking of, whether it's a painter's use of color or the reason we exist, i'm always open to listening. she's an amazing person, really."

nightmare: "ink. ah, that girl is an enigma, truly. somedays she supports me on my path to world domination, and other days she just laughs at me and says as if it were a fact that i would never achieve it! ugh... but despite my slight grievances, she's dream's friend, and i've grown fond of her. quite often, without me even requesting, she gifts me paintings. now, they may seem normal at first, but recently i've discovered a pattern with them. as if ink had peered into the mind of god and depicted it visually, the paintings assist me in handling dream appropriately. i must say, she's skilled as well..."

killer: "see now ink? she's my type of gal. we get along pretty well, hehe! we're on the same wavelength or something, i dunno. not like she can predict what i do, but i wouldn't be surprised if she could, but ink and i just click. we talk about all sorts of silly stuff; similar sense of humor, after all. ink and i can yap about different shows and movies we've watched and stuff, she gives really good insight on the more technical stuff like color psychology and framing, and she once drew me art for one of my big follower milestones on twitter! she's suuuuper cool, haha!"

dust: "okay, just... keep this between me and you, but i think ink has some sort of secret sixth sense? i dunno. nothing against her, she's a fun person. just that, uh... sometimes she just comes up to me when i least expect it and starts asking me about my progress on my writing. which is... confusing. i've only ever told killer and horror about my writing, so i don't know how she knows...?"

horror: "y'know, dust and i have a bit of a bet going on. all jokes and all, but i've got a feeling ink's pulling some sort of elaborate spying prank with how much she knows about us... dust doesn't think so. but i'm betting 20 bucks she does. like, once i was at a vending machine and the stupid thing didn't give me my goddamn candy bar, ugh. i had to stay cool. but then ink just pops out of nowhere, says its okay for me to drop the act and get mad around her, and then does some sort of vending machine trick to get the candy?? yeah, she's definitely a wizard or something. in a nice way, i guess."

NOW SWWAAAAAAPPP she's silly. i included the bit of her getting into trouble because of her good will SOLELY because swap gets bullied a lot in other aus 💀 (askerror, something new, etc,,,,,,) i also read a canon underswap doc??? SWAP IS SO SILLY!!!!! i cant really explain her personality through text i'd need to draw comics for her which uhhhh,,,,, (looks away)

dream: "ah, swap! she's one of my dearest friends, i truly care for her deeply. out of sheer coincidence it seems, that she, ink, and i were chosen to be the star students of the school, but surprisingly it works out well... swap's truly a delight. she's a great motivator, and she's saved me from a few situations that would've ended up terribly had she not been there, hehe."

nightmare: "sometimes the world hates me. ah- well, what i meant was, the path of fate has me set on a predetermined path of struggle! and yet, when even i, the queen of negativity, could not stop my kin from slipping on a ridiculously placed banana peel and almost breaking her neck, swap was her knight in shining armor and caught her. needless to say, just as fate despises my bloodline, fate also has angels sent down from heaven. i do suppose swap is one of those, bless her soul."

killer: "heh, swap?? that girl's a riot! couple years ago i tried convincing her to show me some of those sick moves she learned at kickboxing, or karate, taekwondo, whatever... she broke my wrist, haha! but then i pulled a knife on her and then we both got in trouble. hah, good times, good times. no, i didn't stab her?! in fact, she's very good friends with mr. mew and the grumpen, thank you very much! a friend of my kitties is a friend of mine!"

dust: "she's nice. her type of energy is something you only see is like... a sugar-rushed ink, and killer normally. but anyways, swap's a good help around the school. she's a bit ridiculous every now and then with all her "the magnificent swap" and how she's a bit of a showoff, but whatever. aren't we all? anyways, at least the scavenger hunts she makes during school dances are fun."

horror: "swap is uh... she's something. gotta admit, she's pretty normal compared to some of the people at this school. but man... enthusiasm, much? eh, whatever. i'm not the type to complain when her burritos are to die for. we're partners in cooking class... let's just say, she carries us hard."

Holt as a nurse in a hospital and Wanze having a serious injury and being her patient with the two of them eventually falling in love after Wanze recovers (they get to have more fun together here thanks to no Eusan Nation), only for Holt to later on get cancer and not be able to recover from it :(

Kosmos and Dorredt as astronauts on a space station going from reluctant coworkers to best friends with Kosmos being more data/science oriented and Dorredt taking care of maintenance and repairs

I also have one with Feuerkröte as a military dropout but I don’t have a whole lot else apart from she has fire tattoos on her arms because she thought they were badass (they are but she kinda sucks about it)

I did some Papercraft today 'cuz I saw someone else's Papercraft Miku and Teto and immediately wanted my own Negidrill to have on my desk at all times.

THIS tutorial was super helpful for making Miku but Teto didn't have one. Therefore I messed up her drills a little at first but I'm just glad that she's complete and not a disaster, hahaha. xD

This is my first time making Papercraft characters and it's fun. Unfortunately Miku and Teto's heads easily fall off so there's no way I can do stop motion animation with them or anything or move them around too much, but I enjoyed this. They're cute. ^^

Their arms being outstretched like that was a total accident and how the paper itself wanted to bend, so I took the opportunity to make them touch hands lmao. They probably can't get any closer than that without dying (their heads falling off) though LOL. Idk what else to pose them doing but they'll definitely chill on my desk full-time I think.

Btw Mesmerizer Papercraft definitely exists and I even saw "Who Knows" Teto, and someone also made SV Teto. So if I'm motivated I might print those out and build them too. ^^ (You should try it. It takes like an hour or more per character and after the first time, it's straightforward to do.)

Some headmates reminded me of my silly aah hatchetverse roleswap from like a year ago, I kind of abandoned the thing but I guess we’re attempting it again now? Take two?

So basically the main thing is the LIB swap with some of the human characters, I say swap loosely because the main thing is the Lords are humans and some humans aren’t human anymore. Other characters are swapped around or have changes in what they’re doing too, it’s all a little random tbh

But there’s some new lore this time around, we didn’t get very far into the lore the first time but consider this like- a soft reset of whatever I did post. (I say this because I’ve gotten likes on one of the roleswap posts recently) ALOT of yapping under the cut:

So the LIB + Webby are all human siblings, well half siblings more accurately? That being said they see each other as siblings though and grew up together.

It should be… somewhat obvious who our new deities are if the fandom culture around the “LIB’s blorbos” idea didn’t evaporate while I kind of lost interest in the fandom, but there are two I should clarify: Roman swaps with Nibbly (side note why do all of them have a “blorbo” who’s name starts with the same letter as them except Nibbly? Nightmare Time 3 better give him one /hj), and Lex and Hannah are both gods loosely in the role of Webby.

Anyway sibling age order from oldest to youngest was originally: William and Willow as twins (Wiggly and Webby), Porter (Pokey), Terrance (Tinky), Bentley (Blinky), and finally Nathan (Nibbly). Since I made this au my age headcanons kind of changed though? I more think of Blinky as the youngest of the lords and Webby as the youngest of the six siblings, sound off on whether I should change the age order here or not

I think all six of them have a touch of the gift now, well more accurately all the brothers have a touch of the gift and Willow actually has THE GIFT. Now you might be wondering what are the chances of someone having six children with like five or six different people (I haven’t decided if they have the same mom or the same dad but their half siblings either way) and then all the children inheriting the weird powers. I think that was cult related. Somehow. I’m not actually sure how but I don’t think that just happened. Fucked up thing I could do is like- establish that each one of the siblings was meant to be a gift for one of the different gods like “here’s a follower with cool powers” or something. That didn’t really work out but that was the idea behind the six being made. Willow (the most powerful one) was the gift for the two sisters in an attempt to get establish good will and get them off the others’ case (Lex already hated their guts when this happened, Hannah had a decent relationship with them at the time). That also didn’t really work out, I think the resulting events involving that family actually made Hannah’s opinions on the five worse and didn’t really do anything to change Lex’s opinions.

Im not sure if we’re disregarding the whole “people forget their gift when they grow up” idea from canon or not. Cause I feel like these idiots remember, because unless they moved away from the town pretty early on I don’t think Hatchetfield would let them forget. Like even if that is how that works I think they have too much trauma which negates the forgetting rule (or maybe some of them remember and others don’t???)

I haven’t decided exactly what powers everyone has other than Willow has the gift and I might give William Lex’s original power (not that it really matters what power he has, William is kind of dead. I’ll get to that), but I think I might give Porter the ability to like- see beyond the veil, for lack of a better term. I’m not sure if this is like- an actually agreed on concept in the fandom but I remember some people talking about certain characters being able to see the audience (Emma at the end of TGWDLM, and less obviously there was a theory Max Jagerman could see the audience in general), so that’s what I mean.

For the record in this au (I have no idea about canon I’m just making shit up), the audience isn’t actually like- a theater audience. I don’t think Porter can comprehend whatever that glimpse into the Black and White actually looks like, the theatre and stage is just how his mind processes it. He is actually being watched though, various entities or lost souls occasionally show up there, usually it’s just sniggles (assuming those are still a thing here- which like I guess they would be) or random dead people. Sometimes someone weird shows up though, like him from another timeline, or one of the deities (even several once or twice), or his older brother.

Wiggly swaps roles with Wilbur if that wasn’t clear. I’m not sure if he was PEIP agent or if something else happened but his disappearance was not a fun thing for his siblings to experience (or fun for William, he is not the same).

Anyway back to Porter’s stupid veil abilities (I am playing favorites), I might lean into the meta narrative (I’m probably using that term wrong) and make it so he can also hear like the music- as in like the musical thing. Like everything looks normal to everyone else but Porter can just see a musical number going on and has to decide whether that’s a good or a bad thing (he is still a theater kid so it’s probably not the worst thing but there have to be moments where that gets annoying). Which would have implications… involving other parts of the lore… namely the infection timeline. Cause Paul still dislikes musicals here, I don’t think that’s the main reason for the mind control or whatever he’s doing, I think he just wants control/power in general and having some peace and quiet from the music is a plus. Idk

Even if I don’t go with that idea I think Porter being a theatre kid is connected to the veil thing, maybe not the reason he’s into theater but part of why he’s so attached to it, like he uses it as a coping mechanism somehow? Idk

I should probably talk about the new deities more uhh? The evil ones aren’t siblings, I think they’re like somewhere between an alliance and a friend group. Lex and Hannah are siblings though. I’m trying to remember stuff from the au cause I’ve been a while since I’ve used it, Bill’s thing was a museum instead of a theme park and Wilbur was a snake I think. Those were fun concepts. There’s more to this au because Hatchetfield has a bajillion characters but this post is long enough already

When you say "This part of fandom is extremely weird about first person", could you elaborate on that? Either about the history, or just about the contemporary things that are usually associated with first-person... Whether they're true correlations or just stereotypes.

Is first-person considered pretentious, for example? I sort of assumed for a long time that it would be.

Are there particular types of fandom that tend to have a lot of first-person writing? As in, some genre or whatever, not just "the original book was in first-person".

And it's not even particularly thought of as a self-insert thing, is it? (Rather, as JUST a self-insert thing.)

First person is a less common but just kind of banal choice in original writing. Many fanfic fans respond to it as such. It's overwhelmingly more common when canon is like that. Most of the rest of the first person fics I see are imitating a specific style that's normally in first—think ridiculous hardboiled private eye fics like the famous Who Knackered Aragorn's Catamite?

But in recent years, I've seen some people finding first to be a Big Deal™. It's still not common in most fandoms, as far as I can see, but people flailing about it have become more common. When this has come up before, it has become clear that there's a strain of fandom coming out of knockoffs of knockoffs of YA Boom titles, the kinds of things that are in first person present tense but don't know what to do with it.

IDK about the untagged first person fic, but the tagged stuff shows no particular pattern. There's a bunch of it in enormous fandoms that have a lot of works and that tag a lot.

I do find first to be a more challenging choice for your average TV fandom because those actually do have POV, but not one most viewers can easily articulate and not one that's similar to written first person that stays with one character. Bringing in this wildly different stylistic element can end up sounding like you're writing the aforementioned hardboiled detective AU even when that wasn't the intent.

Omniscient and limited third with POV switches are both pretty similar to your average TV POV, though film and written POV don't work the same way, so there isn't a one-to-one match.

If someone said the usual "I want fic that's similar to canon... or I want you to be very, very good at your craft", I would not find that remarkable. But the actual way people talk makes it sound like every baby writer in 2024 cares about Divergent. In my experience, they do not.
