The thing is that to a certain extent yeah “problematic” ships shouldn’t be endorsed or allowed. That’s how garbage like elsa*nna or other really bad inc*st or pdf file ships fester. That being said, it is a bit more of a slippery slope with dark romance. Cause I recognize some people have different tastes and while recognizing the dark themes are obviously bad still enjoy the ship which I really don’t get but whatever I ain’t going to harass people for it.

Regardless, I think your only mistake was not tagging things properly for triggers and dark themes. People are really losing their minds over a very little mistake and I really hope this doesn’t push you away from Epic cause I think your art is awesome and inspiring. Keep at it and honestly take a break if you need it. Sometimes fandom can be supremely stupid and taking a break from the internet can help a lot. But regardless of what you do I hope you’re doing okie :)

It wasn't only about tags too

There are a few HUGE mistakes I made and they were wrong including not to add tags.

In the beginning I didn't even think to add marks as AU, because...idk, that kind of ships of course work only in AU, so I thought it could be understood, but I was wrong, and when people told me that I should just tag it as AU I was like:...DAMN I SHOULD DID THAT IN THE BEGINNING

For me this part was obvious, BUT IT WAS FOR ME, SO NOW I UNDERSTOOD THAT THIS KIND OF STUFF NEED TO BE MARKED

Also not everyone understood the joke about cancelling omg, this really created WAVE OF HATE, people didn't understand that and now I just...

Also THE MOST HUGE PROBLEM WAS ABOUT THE JOKE I LIKED IN THE COMMENT.

It was a dark joke, dark humour and I just didn't understand how strong people could be offended by it. For me dark humour sometimes works as a defending mechanism and probably because most of the time I spent my internet time in spaces where there was plenty of dark humour...

I didn't understand how bad it was in the beginning. But now I understand. And I'm very sorry for that.

Jokes about SA are unacceptable and it's wrong. So now I understand that the better way is to keep these dark jokes between friends and off-line with people who know each other.

I know that some people won't forgive me and that's okay.

I just hope this situation won't make fandom toxic and we all will stay friendly and kind to each other and greet everyone with open arms..Just lets be kind

An incomplete list of funny ways that the flamethrower guy in Until Dawn phrases the wendigo rules that imply other funny things. May add more later

He says that cannibalism out of desperation or greed is what causes it. This implies that accidental or just casual cannibalism for funsies won't do it

He says that any MAN or WOMAN who resorts to cannibalism will become a wendigo, implying that now, with so many more genders other than male and female recognized, and the fact that a lot of Native Americans recognized many genders, those people can cannibalize as much as they need to

He specifically says that it only works ON the mountain, so if you drag whoever you want to eat just to the base of the mountain to eat them, you're fine, while the ghost/spirit thing watches from the edge of the mountain like "you motherfucker"

That I know of, there aren't any death scenes that look anything like how he described the wendigo will kill you all slow and skin you and stuff while he was trying to get Chris to come back to the lodge. That means he likely made that up to scare Chris into coming back inside (if I'm wrong and there is a death scene like that that I just haven't found, idk, throw rocks at me)

He says they only hunt at night, but doesn't know why. They could just go back to normal like a werewolf or regain their human senses for a bit, because he said they only hunt at night, and a lot of their hunting is down in the mines where sunlight isn't even a factor, so it's not sunlight that bugs them. Maybe they just all just chill out during the day and play twister.(I just know they'd be good at twister)

Edit: wtf happens if someone who cannibalized AT SOME POINT, but not on the mountain, comes up to the mountain later? Will they just instantly start changing, or can the spirit not do anything in that case?

Double edit: what if you manage to take a wendigo OFF the mountain. Will the spirit follow and it'll stay the same. Would it change back, or just regain its human mind but stay all thin and creepy? Would it die? Would it lose its power? If it did stay the same, would that allow ALL the seperate spirits to leave the mountain and then no one can eat people anywhere?

I'm not new to AO3 (reading or writing) but I haven't interacted with the actual community much and would love to know more :)

oof, I still feel like a newbie posting stuff on ao3, and tagging is something i've always struggled with. and actually formatting is also on ongoing issue 😅 so with that in mind, here's what i try to consider:

TAGGING

relationships -> tagging the main is obvious, but i'm sometimes torn about tagging side relationships that feature in the fic, especially since it's annoying to be searching for that pairing and get a bunch of results where they're not the main focus; unless the other pairing is a prominent feature, i leave it out of the relationship tags and at most add it to the additional tags

characters -> i remember updating the character tags on my early fics every time another character popped up in the story, but now i'm of the same mind as the side pairing issue; unless the character is prominently featured, i leave them out of the tags

content warning/advertising -> if i know the fic features an element that some people might wish to avoid, i always tag it and also always fret that i've forgotten to tag something in that regard. when it's more about advertising what's in the fic, especially sexual content, i sometimes feel silly listing every flavor of physical encounter unless the fic is pwp/smut (in which case i gleefully list all the depravity); i sometimes worry that over-emphasizing the sexual content in the tags is misleading? like of this 100k fic, if 15k is spent fucking, how do i get the tags to reflect that while also tag cw appropriately? is there an established tag for that?

sometimes i see fics with TONS of tags, like an exhausting amount, and sometimes i see fics with very minimal tags... sometimes frustratingly few. i also know some writers add chapter-specific warnings in the author's notes. in the end, so long as you're making it possible for people to find or avoid your fic as needed, then you're good. Here are some good posts that dive into it more!

(i remember when people on tumblr would scold writers for monologuing in the tags on ao3 like we do on here, claiming it was a strain on the system, but i believe that's been debunked?)

FORMATTING

i've noticed some MEGA annoying quirks with copy & pasting over from Google Docs and Word, and I know there are some tricks to get around them, but i tend to just slog through the Rich Text window fixing everything manually 🙃 OKAY I FOUND SOLUTIONS LINKED BELOW.

spacing problem #1 -> pet peeve of mine, but i dislike it when the paragraphs have massive spaces between them (ditto for indented paragraphs). idk why, but it's tiring for my eyes to constantly leap the chasm between paragraphs. so whenever i copy and paste from Word, which for some reason ALWAYS appears with double spacing between line breaks, i go in and manually fix it. SOLUTION

spacing problem #2 -> when copying over from Google Doc, whenever there's a punctuation mark following an italicized word, a random space appears between them. and yep, i have to go in and fix every one because typos make me twitch. (this might not be an issue for everyone; i overuse italics and dashes like it's my job) SOLUTION

spacing problem #3 -> again probably a me issue, but i tend to include song lyrics a lot, and it's always a headache to format because when pasting from the doc, ao3 embeds these spaces between the lines that i can't remove by backspacing. only fix i've found is to copy and paste lyrics directly from a website, and then it formats fine. random and annoying and weird. (no solution 😔)

since this section has just been me whining about finding SOLUTIONS for formatting issues, i'll offer one tip that's more about general editing: i try to proofread best i can in Word/GDocs, but it's always easier to spot errors when i'm reading the draft on my phone. the typos always jump out at me from a phone screen. it's now my favorite way to edit!

every writer has their own preferences on formatting, and every reader has their own level of tolerance for formatting quirks. in the end, so long as the formatting doesn't interfere with the reading experience, you're all good.

this is okay to rb i think, especially if you have anything to add or any insight. idk. i'm tagging this the way that i am because i'm seeking community/connection(tm) or something

hypotonia is not like. a rare thing. not really. but i do remember my OT googling what it was.

low muscle tone/hypotonia may technically be a symptom rather than a diagnosis (barring benign congenital hypotonia, which afaik is controversial) but it's the closest thing to a "diagnosis" i've been given for some of this stuff because the potential cause of it hasn't been investigated and i guess it's not exactly urgent since my particular case isn't severe and doesn't seem progressive (hypotonia can be progressive & is involved in some progressive and degenerative conditions.)

but i wish it was talked about more and i wish more was known about it works and how it affects bodily function and i wish what we DO know about it was more accessible to the public when it comes to those who suffer from it. it's also kinda hard whether to KNOW you have it or not since its "signs" have so much overlap with other conditions that aren't related to muscle tone. it ranges a lot in severity too. and there's two different types (central and peripheral.) it's linked to dozens of diagnoses too which is why i say it's not uncommon.

but also i guess due to the complexity of how it affects the body and its lack of distinctiveness with most of its symptoms makes it kinda...hard to talk about? and i imagine w/ some people it's hard to distinguish the effects of hypotonia vs. their other problems. issues with chewing, writing, breathing, speaking, posture, coordination, etc. can be due to so many different things ranging from mental to physical. but it's not always something that can be lumped together w/ those other things because there's "my muscles don't work" in a terms of chronic muscular pain vs. "my muscles don't work" in terms of, like, they lack the ability to adequately support the body and bodily movement. if that makes any sense.

which ranges from someone like me where having to hold myself up sucks + mild motor skill/coordination impairments and mild developmental milestone delays, but others never meet those milestones or need assistance with things like breathing and ingesting food.

it's not a diagnosis but it can affect the body in complex ways like muscle shortening and stiffness due to our bodies having to compensate in weird ways for the lack of adequate tone (esp those of us who grew up with it), tibial torsion and femoral anteversion, flatfoot and knock-knees, reduced cervical lordosis sometimes leading to bruxism and occipital headaches, etc. PT centered around muscle strengthening to correct my "improper" movement and stuff.

and there's other stuff that can come with it that people like to consider """gross""" like drooling, constipation and other gastric, and pelvic floor dysfunction which can result in incontinence/problems with bladder control. muscles are involved in a lot of things. wild.

i'm rambling but i just wish more people talked about it. all i really have is that one interview that surestep did with meagan veracha, who has hypotonic cerebral palsy, about living with hypotonia as an adult.

maybe i wouldn't care all that much if i had a diagnosis that would "explain it" but "i might have gHSD/hEDS" doesn't rly do that for me because ppl in those communities obviously focus a lot on the joint dysfunction aspect (because those 2 conditions center around hypermobile joints so that's just natural, it's not a bad thing per-se, barring other problems that those communities have) but for me my case of symptomatic generalized hypermobility is secondary in how it impacts me vs. my muscles being bad at their job and my hypermobility might even be secondary to my hypotonia anyway.

dyspraxia/DCD (some people with it have hypotonia but not all - i thought i had it before i was told i was identified as having hypotonia when i was a kid...over two decades late) is another guess but again that centers more around coordination than things like "anything other than lying in bed is hard on me because my muscles don't support my body like they're supposed to."

maybe muscle tone is a complex medical concept that shouldn't really enter the public lexicon but i have no other language for it.

I’m sorry if you’re sick of the Bi//frd asks but I feel like I need to add on to some of the asks you responded to.

I feel like besides how people talk about Bi//frd (uwu ing their relationship and wanting them to be a cute couple ect), the reason why I hate bi//frd so much is just HOW present it is even before the book came out.

The first few months I used tumblr I didn’t have any filtered tags just because I didn’t feel like I needed to. But eventually I filtered out the ship then would come to realize that a couple of people I followed were actually reblogging it. I just didn’t know because the type of pictures that would go through would just be ford and bill existing within the same proximity. Nothing overtly shippy, but when I’d look at the original post it was tagged as that so it definitely was intended to be bi//ford.

I knew once the book was announced that this problem would only get worse and I was right unfortunately 😭. Most posts that have come across my dash about TBoB have the filter on them and I’ve had to unfollow people I actually liked because of it. Even if they don’t know, if they reblog a lot of it becomes this weird game of do you actually like it or did you pick this up on accident since it’s so prevalent rn. Some of my mutuals even reblogged something that got caught in the filter today and I’ve bashed bi//ford with them before so I know they’re not into it. It just gets everywhere for some reason.

Idk there’s obviously a lot of gross ships people come up with that I have problems with but just the treatment of bi//frd so casually and it being so prevalent it just makes me so frustrated.

Hi! I kinda need a second opinion on something from someone unbiased, so I hope you don’t mind me asking you.

I’m concerned I might be transphobic, or more accurately, that I have internalized transphobia. It’s kinda relevant so I’ll add that I’m Afab, genderfluid and Bi with a preference for women.

So my concern stems from that like, women with male anatomy make me uncomfortable. I don’t mean that interacting with trans ladies make me feel that, just like, the mental image of a hypothetical trans woman with the part. Other than that I don’t care.

the thing is, the grossed out feeling isn’t there when it’s a hypothetical trans man in my head. But in the opposite side, the idea of seeing the trans men I do know undressed makes me even more uncomfortable (as they’re my friends; most of my circle is made of trans boys). I actually don’t know any trans women irl, but once there’s a face to the name, I just assume it would be awkward but then we’d move on, if you know what I mean? Like the hypothetical trans girl weirds me out, but like not one I’ve met via the socials ig.

I don’t know if it’s like, internalized sexism and dislike for Cis Straight men ( I have a fear of men if that’s relevant. I’m trying to give you the full picture without any of my own personal biases, so I’m sorry if I’ve overloading you with useless facts about myself) or if it’s that bc I’m more attracted to women and I think male anatomy isn’t attractive?

I also don’t headcanon female characters as trans like I do for my favorite male characters. Not in a I-relate-to-the-transmasc experience sorta way but like, i don’t want my favorite female characters to be trans. Ew I don’t like that I feel that way EW.

Like, I’m actually pretty sure after typing all this out that I DO have some internalized stuff, and I just wanna know how to get rid of it. It’s not nice. I don’t wanna think and feel like that, because that’s gross.

Like, to reiterate I don’t like or have any opposition to talking, interacting etc with trans women. idk. Maybe it’s bc I’m trans opposite direction. Like I remember seeing trans women and being like “oh why would you want to be a girl” before I realized I shouldn’t like, be feeling that way so idk it could be related?

So I'm not an expert and I'm not in your head, but it kind of sounds like a mixture of reasons.

You're transmasc, so you've said yourself that you don't identify as much with the transfem experience. That could be part of it.

You said you're not attracted to traditionally male anatomy and that could definitely be part of it as well. And that's nothing to be sorry about!

I also think it could be some internalized transphobia.

I think the most important part, though, is that you've said yourself that you haven't interacted much with mtf trans people. I think this is probably a huge part of the problem. You're probably basing a lot of your ideas and preconceived notions on stereotypes, you know? I would encourage you to like..think through some of the thoughts you have and where they come from. And what they're based on, if that makes sense? You're allowed to have preferences when it comes to sex and even what characters you read, but it seems like you might need to open your mind a bit more about mtf trans people in general.

i mean sure, they were really aggressive about it, but i do agree with the gn!reader person that gender neutral readers should be tagged with a (#gender neutral reader). author's don't even have to remove any tags, be it (#fem reader) and/or (#male reader) to be more inclusive, all they'd have to do is just add one.

i don't think that's a selfish request nor is it something so impossible and unreasonable to expect in my opinion? it would honestly likely help those authors find more readers since people would now have a gn!reader tag to browse through rather then just having to spend time looking into every fic to make sure it suitable to their needs

i don't know, all this demonizing of a transwomen likely just making their response in a moment of dysphoric triggered upsetness and the lack of understanding and even a little compassion is rubbing me the wrong way. sure, they should have took a breather before writing that response, but their point still stands, even if it was spoken with anger

like, i think if i was in her shoes and the x reader community was now refused to just tag one thing making it inaccessible to me all while saying how inclusive they are, and then insulting me for even asking for it and need it to not get dysphoric, i would be a little upset too. it's a bit hypocritical to say your inclusive but refuse to just add one tag that someone says they need in order to be able to be included too i think.

So to add on ap, chongyun’s Yang state has a variation of responses, he has tame ones like in the poetry event those are fine. It’s the chaotic ones that are a problem “he chases people around, passed out,danced on top of furniture, broken furniture, and gotten injured and he sometimes doesn’t even remember himself being in Yang state.

and then when all is said and done he still get’s told that he’s entertainment(a sign in wangshu btw), that his Yang state is the real him and the fact that his friends always seem to be giving him chilis because they think that his Yang side is better for him.

Then here comes Ga-Ming he’s good at fighting , he can dance and perform all he wants, he’s happy and cheerful without consequences, he uses a claymore, he admires Xiao as well, he’s probably friends with his own friends.

a big slap in the face that tells him “ hey, you know that Yang side of you that causes you a lot of trouble personally, yeah well seems that they prefer you that way” and boom the angst

Now I obviously I don’t think chongyun’s friends are *that mean or that they even have bad intentions but it’s always personally bothered me the language they use around him and about him idk it always feels insensitive. Not only that but the disregard of his own feelings and boundaries always bothered me. Doesn’t help that his Yang and anything related to chilis is meant for jokes. But c’mon Xiangling’s job is literally a chef her whole job is meant to be making food, she can scold people for being picky but she sometimes puts chilis in her friends food even though he can pass out like where’s the logic. At least she makes him his popsicles. this includes hu Tao also like she is a prankster and all but she takes her job seriously and one of the things she has to do is keep the balance of yin and Yang so like you’d think she’d be like “hey my friend having a pure Yang body is probably not a good thing but nah let’s prank him even though he clearly doesn’t like)

like c’mon he’s just asking for no chilis in his food it’s not hard

anyway that’s my idea basically it can also happen the opposite way with Ga-Ming being a friend who does respect his boundaries(please just one friend) and still finds way to include him in events without triggering his Yang so Chongyun hangs out with him which leads to other’s self reflection. so yeah that’s all I have.

hi im back and not as sleep deprived (it’s mid term week 🧎🏽‍♀️)

but i have new prompt up for adoption!

now ik what you might be think “oh it’s just gonna be the same people being omega/alpha/beta” but don’t fret my dear summer child, over here we do things a bit differently but let’s talk about the prompt first before get into the knitty gritty 😗

so here's what i was thinking:

-there are two groups, one with omegas/betas and one with alphas/betas, and both groups deal with jewelry/art/money (ill leave that up to you) heists.

-both groups have the same main focus, so they have a friendly rivalry when they first start (around high school/early college age).

-but after feelings are hurt and heists go wrong, both groups split up. years have passed, and the ob (omega/beta) group went off the grid, but the ab (alpha/beta) group remained in the heist scene. but they haven't had much luck financially, but they are fortunate enough to score a heist that will set them up for the rest of their lives; however, there is one problem.

-you can choose the problem, but i was personally thinking that the plan that created required more people then they had. so as a way to fill in the gap, they decide to go and find (with much difficulty) the ob group and beg for help, knowing that with their assistance, they will be able to do the job no problem.

-but the ob group have one main condition: this would be the only and final heist (you can choose why they ask for this)

-with the now-combined squad, they attempted to execute the heist; but there was a little roadblock in the way .…what was it? you ask, well it was only the murder of the person they were supposed to steal from …😬

-it was supposed to be simple, right? well, not anymore with the police on their asses they wouldn’t need anymore trouble right? .…well tell that to their old buddies who are looking for a…bit of revenge.

-will they be able to find love and hope in between, the blazing guns, car chases, and death? …that’s up to you to choose their fate 🤩
