clé: levanter era is so underrated and it's quite insane to me because i think levanter is one of the best skz title tracks since they kinda did something different they didn't do previously but i do feel like it was one of their best songs in terms of vocals (lino falsetto we love you) BUT ALSO.... that album is so crazy?? and so important because it was delayed (if you know you know... if you were there you know what i mean) and so songs like you can stay and sunshine had such a big impact on the fandom back in the day especially sunshine it means a lot to me to this day and it's one the best skz bsides and i think about it all the time but the bside from this album that i think is criminally underrated is booster like booster is so good?? it's such a skz standard sound but it was so fresh at the time i remember being so obsessed with it when it came out and i was so mad nobody talk about her WHERE IS THE BOOSTER LOVE??? LIKE CMON GUYS but in general, that album an era are so significant in skz and stay history and it felt very much a gift to fans at that time it was pretty rough but i feel like getting these songs after everything went down was so worth it! it's genuinely one of my fav skz eras

realised yesterday just how often hozier actually used to sing about being not quite alive, not feeling like a person, about loving someone in a way that defies death and made him more alive, about suffering death for love. it's like he was constantly being buried underground and unearthed by love, over and over, which, while romantic in a way, is also incredibly sad. but i think it's interesting how his latest album (literally called 'unreal unearth') takes this idea and makes it its central theme. that's what this album is, one man's descent into the underworld. except, crucially, he makes it to the other side, and ends the album saying the darkness will come again, but this time he is "never going back [to hell] again." it feels like such a full-circle moment considering the rest of his discography and i'm so very excited to see what comes after this

Regional at Best is so special because it feels so exactly like what it is, which is an album made by a young person, younger than I am now, who'd given up everything else to make this dream work and probably had no idea what the hell he was going to do if it didn't. Keep working a normal job? Go back to college? What do you do if the dream doesn't work, when you're an early-20-something who (like all early-20-somethings) has precisely nothing else figured out? What do you do if everyone's right and the art isn't worth it?

Then your bandmates leave. But actually, it turns out perfect anyway, because you end up with this other guy who also has precisely nothing else figured out and no plan B except to be in this very band with you. How rare and precious of a thing that is, to meet someone who believes in your art just as much as you do. At least if you fail you fail together, right?

I think RAB feels like the end of summer and growing pains because it exists in that same itchy, anxious space as your last summer before you graduate high school/college, when it begins hitting you that there will never be a summer like this again because next year you're supposed to be grown up. But the truth is you never figured out how to grow up and you never figured out how to stop dreaming. So many people have to learn that lesson for various reasons, but Tyler and Josh never did because they believed in it so much that I think it truly never could've failed. Even if they never got as big as they did w/ Blurryface, I think they never could've failed because they are for the dreamers.

Self-titled is complicated and beautiful and core to everything else they would do after, but RAB is the beating heart of what tøp was always meant to be imo. It's embracing the fear of getting older because you have no other choice, while acknowledging you're still a little afraid of the dark. It's a night light for the grown-ups who are still scared of long dark hallways they can't see the end of (and work email chains). You turn 23 and discover you probably don't actually want to die as much as you used to, and also that you still think pokémon cards are fucking rad, and both of those things are okay. And maybe you'll never get out of this goddamn town but it never hurts to dream

okay here me out... i have this plot in mind about theater actor!bts member who recently had a scandal and is now desperate to redeem his reputation by aiming to play the lead in an upcoming korean adaptation of a famous broadway show. he’s confident, he’s positive that he will be cast because his manager seriously knows how to pull some strings to make things work for him (also ‘cause despite the scandal, he really is extraordinary at what he does)—until he discovers that the director of the show is going to be your father, and suddenly all hope is gone.

because unbeknownst to many, you and him used to date (very secretly) at the start of his career, and he does specifically remember you yelling at him to ‘never show your fucking face to me again!’ after he dumped you over call. he wants to believe that considering it’s been a decade since that incident happened, surely you wouldn’t be that petty and immature to hinder the restoration of his career by using your nepo baby powers and influencing your dad’s mind about his decision regarding the final cast.

wrong. turns out you are petty and immature still, and now his manager is convincing (forcing) him to ask you for your forgiveness / be in your good graces so that he can have the part. normally, he wouldn’t have a problem lowering his ego and pride if it’s for the betterment of his career—however, you’re determined to make his life a living hell, and he finds himself wanting to burn himself alive instead of sucking up to you who’s really starting to get on his nerves lmao.

ANYWAYS, i kinda have taehyung or jimin or seokjin in mind for this??? i’m considering jk too but i just posted a fic of him so i kinda want to do this fic for a different member hehe,, please tell me ur thoughts if i should pursue this idea or not bc i want to write it but i have a feeling it’ll take so freaking long to write since it should have proper pacing and all that shit but yeah 😫

i absolutely hate doing this........ but i've stumbled upon a financial crisis recently because our dad has left us (me and my family) for another woman and he was the only source of income to the family lol i am in law school and my sister is in highschool and well i am struggling to find a job until i graduate (bc rn no local cafe or shop wants an employee) and my mother makes $300 a month (of which we pay $180 for the monthly bills) so we are rn barely surviving!!!! it will be all good !!! staying positive and all!!! but um i could really use a liittle teeeny tiny bit of help until i find a paying job to support my family 😭

Btw what would you recommend to watch or read as a starter for understanding Pink Floyd lore?

I would definitely start off with these two books:

Comfortably Numb: The Inside Story of Pink Floyd by Mark Blake

and

Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd by Nick Mason (<3)

I cannot tell you how many posts I've made that are derived from passages of these two books. Nick has the benefit of having been there, and he has sense of humor that literally made me laugh out loud many times while reading it, but Mark Blake has a bit more of an objective stance on events and adds details that nick wasn't willing to (such as their coke use in the 80's). They offer a good balance.

As for videos I'll defer to others' recommendations in terms of broader-scope floyd lore (e.g., a good documentary that's well-balanced and not weird about syd – any recs?).

The obvious answer would be to make sure you watch Live at Pompeii early on, or at least the accompanying interviews because that's where a LOT of the memes come from. (in general, the benefit of being a pink floyd fan is that they avoided the media so much that it doesn't actually take that long to catch up with Actual Footage of them – at least from while the band was active)
