Sometimes when I’m frustrated at a chain restaurant or chain store, I look up the subreddit for the workers and read through their complaints. I once spent an hour at a McDonald’s drive thru (pre boycott) reading the top posts on r/McDonald’s employees and it was super entertaining while also making me way more patient. Anyway I’ve been at the Walgreens pharmacy for 20 minutes it’s time to find their subreddit.

I know (well, I've been told) in the books, Kim eventually takes over and replaces Kinn (that inspired me to write the placeholder line), and I do think Kim is the most "mafia boss" like of them three. (Although I think in a world where being neurodivergent and/or dealing with trauma is not seen as a weakness, Tankhun could do well, he had many bright moments and saw through the bullshit of minor family). I wonder if the show was heading that way. Was that the long-term plan (if they even had any)? Because nothing in the last episode made sense.

I love Porsche, and he is street-smart and adapts quickly to wild situations (and looks hella good in suits), but being the leader of the minor family makes zero sense. I understand why it's not Vegas (as a punishment for the coup, and Korn would not trust him), but Porsche has gained zero respect in the mafia world, which runs on respect and mutual connections? And sure, he can do the whole "I am the long lost Theerapanyakul" thing since relations/blood matters to these people too, but as far as the crime world knows, Porsche's mom was never part of the family "business". He's a former bartender and Kinn's bodyguard, he didn't even know how to hold a gun and had a meltdown over killing a guy two months ago. And now he is supposed to take over the minor family's shady businesses? All the weapons, prostitution and whatever else they do based on what we saw in episode seven?

Plus, Kinn said before that Korn wants there to be rivalry between both families to keep them stronger, so again doesn't make sense unless Korn had a change of heart and decided to merge both families to avoid future coups.

I personally feel like Korn has bigger plans, and none of them involves Porsche and Kinn happily leading the joint family together.

It only just really hit me - Kinn is the worst dumbass imaginable when it comes to his shitty dad, but what exactly is Korn thinking, making Porsche head of the minor family? This is essentially consolidating the two separate if connected organizations into one, and that separation has always allowed the polite fictions that main family hands are clean. Shady bullshit, illegal business and outright torture gets pushed off to the minor family. But Korn has now made the guy SLEEPING IN KINN'S BED responsible for all that. Plausible deniability can't survive that. I'm not sure even wilful deniability - which, let's face it, is probably already carrying a pretty heavy load supporting Kinn's dumbassery over his shitty dad - can survive that.

Not to mention, Korn has taken the son of his supposedly beloved sister - who tried to escape the Mafia life entirely - and made him responsible for the worst of the family business.

I'm kind of wondering if this was some kind of punishment for both Kinn and Nampheung for ever acting like they could escape his control? Look at how he can mire this guy they both love in the worst of the muck?

It also makes me wonder if Kinn actually is a placeholder for Kim. It'd be so easy to burn him and throw him to the wolves now, given he's fucking the guy in charge of all the illegal business. I ... am imagining the headlines about Kim Theerapanyakul having to take over the family business after his older brother was discovered to be gay-fucking the FAMILY MEMBER (for that added frisson of incest) who's been involved in drug-running, illegal gambling, torture and murder. Poor feeble Korn, whose very unfilial son and his son's gay incest lover were taking advantage of him and the family business during his illness and decline like that!

I mean, come on. Does he just want the leash on Kinn that kind of possibility provides (because let's face it, neither Pete nor Vegas is the only dog on a leash, here. Arguably Porsche was the only one off the leash until he bowed his head for it along with that minor family ring). WHAT is this mfkr's endgame?
