i haven’t reeeeally started writing anything other than planning this out broadly because it’s very plot heavy but got a little lost thinkin about the intimacy of shaving the other day so this is from x files au in some shitty shared motel room while they’re cryptid hunting or chasing aliens idk we’ll figure it out
When he emerges, hair towelled dry and in clean clothes, Eddie frowns at him.
“What?” he asks. “Promise I didn’t finish all the hot water.”
“No, you just look—” Eddie gestures at Buck’s face, “—scruffier than usual.”
“Oh,” Buck says, running a hand over his day-four stubble. “I forgot my razor.”
“Oh,” Eddie’s face clears, “just use mine.”
Buck swallows. “Um. Okay. Thanks.”
Eddie nods at him and goes back to squinting at his phone, so Buck about-faces and re-enters the bathroom.
It’s not a big deal, he tells himself as he foams up his face. It’s like—like sharing a hairbrush. Intimate, sure, not something you’d tend to do with people you don’t know well, but it’s not a big deal.
He wets the razor and brings it to his throat, heart hammering there so violently it feels like his Adam’s apple is trying to get out. If his hand doesn’t stop trembling he’s going to nick himself, and God, he is being absolutely fucking ridiculous.
Deep breath. The razor glides over the thin skin of his throat, muscle memory even as he stares at himself in the mirror. Doesn’t think about Eddie doing this every morning, using this very razor. Blade edge kissing his jaw the same way it kisses Eddie’s. Doesn’t think about Eddie doing this for him, hand holding his chin as he shaves Buck carefully, grip firm when he turns Buck’s face this way and that. Doesn’t think about Eddie kissing where the blade kissed him first.
Doesn’t think about any of that when he rinses the razor clean and slots it back into the travel mug, where Buck’s toothbrush rests against Eddie’s with such easy familiarity it’s about to spark a whole new crisis.

okay everyone and their mother knows that OMO!Leonardo and MNMC!Leon are the Peepaw Multiverses most annoying Bestie-Worstie Duo; now i propose WMAS!Leo and OMO!Leonardo are the DIY Duo but with a very, very skewed power scale as in OMO!Leonardo knows how to fix a leaking faucet and faulty toilet, meanwhile WMAS!Leo just builds a whole fucking shed for pure fun but wrecks the washing machine by accidentally leaving a wrench in the drum when he turns it on to test it.

About DA Legends: I couldn't confirm this but I read that one ending boon in Origins sets up a new Circle in West Hill, and that's the Jainen Circle.
ok this has been in my inbox for 3 months because i never got round to checking this, but im currently going through dialogue files for an unrelated reason and got reminded of this
if the warden dies and they're a mage, alistair/anora will say the following:
I wish to see the Circle restored. However, I understand that the Veil at the tower is too weak. That being the case, I wish a new tower built--with the Chantry's aid. And it will bear the Hero's name.
there's nothing to say it's in west hill (unless that's mentioned in some other media), although jainen is in the waking sea bannorn anyway (but likely off the coast of the west hill bannorn, so it's close)
that said, this is absolutely a contender for the jainen circle. id say it's completely unintended, but im gonna accept it because that's just what you've gotta do with legends lore

Just in case, letting you know I will probably be on tumblr until it literally explodes (with hammers) but if anyone wants to keep up with me (not difficult, i am slow) on anything else, im under the same username pretty much everywhere, give or take the hyphen.
'Course, I don't post to anywhere consistently except sort of here... but I do exist on them.
If I was forced to 'move', the likeliest places to see new stuff would be cohost, assuming it somehow sustains itself and doesnt stagnate, and the bluesky thing, because... well everyone is probably going to move there, even though no one likes twitter style posting. *shrug*

every time i think about mulder and scully breaking up because he got depressed i want to sob. at first i really hated that, and thought it was stupid. i still do sometimes but i don’t know, i guess i understand the thought behind it more than i did before. no matter how bad it got, scully always had mulder: steadfast, myopic, painfully and naively earnest. defeated sometimes, sure, but he had a mission, a need. it revitalized him every time they tried to knock him on his ass and it kept him going. but then he had nothing, no mission, no resources, just a series of bad mistakes and a picture of the little sister he could not save tacked to his door. maybe once that was a beacon of light, but eventually it just served to haunt him.
scully, god bless her, probably reminded him of how much they did not have: she had her job, became the doctor she was always meant to be. the thing he prevented her from being. she had her purpose, worked long hours and then came home to their unremarkable house. it’s no easy thing to be isolated the way mulder was. long stretches of time where all he had was time to think and think and think. the internet isn’t good for mulder. his beautiful mind, occupied by too much, and his body listless still.
it couldn’t have been easy for scully. it must’ve felt like a betrayal. she had been there for mulder through everything. everything. i don’t think she hates him or faults him for the things that had happened. it’s not in scully’s nature to feel bitter towards him like that, because she understands better than anyone the cruel nature of fate. she chose him, chose that path, and while she probably certainly wished it went a hell of a lot different, i don’t think she would ever pin that on him. but i do think, when he pulled back, stopped responding and paying attention and caring altogether, i think scully probably couldn’t help but grow angry. he was leaving her alone with it all, the way he never had before. that must’ve been scary and isolating and it was unfair of him. it seems that he probably wasn’t so receptive of her diagnosis either, which must’ve felt like another fuck you. not only was he leaving her alone, but he was purposefully shutting her out. what had been their shared mission became singular and it’s so so hard to stay in a too silent home.
how surprisingly betrayed she must’ve felt, to end up in the place mulder grew up. andifferent place, sure, but the same old story: her just like teena mulder, one kid gone and a wide, gaping wound full of grief; and mulder, just like bill: shut off, unable to bear the hard truths of his life’s work. he couldn’t blame her for leaving. he wouldn’t. he had left it once too

I feel like it’s worth remembering that so many writers perceived as great got there through persistence. Yes, there are a few whose skill and talent alone got them where they are, but for most, it’s that they just kept going. They slogged through the hard parts and kept telling stories and kept sharing them and eventually more people discovered them and liked them. It’s not about being objectively good. It’s about continuing and carrying on and having the courage to keep putting yourself out there even if it seems like no one is paying attention.
