I'm so glad to recruit someone else to my hepatoscopy group because it is a long and storied tradition with many many different types of study and schools of thought dating all the way back to the Sumerians! It's an extremely underrated bit of study when it comes to sketching portraits of divination and prophecy when it comes to adaptations of imaginings of greek myth works - similar to bird augury (which was such a widespread skill that most people had some level of understanding of the basics of what the omens of common birds meant the way people now can look at the clouds over head and know if it'll rain and when approximately that rain'll happen).

It's a great and common misunderstanding that things like prophecy and magic were these fantastic elements that had no tangible features to their practices and while there's nothing wrong with interpreting things as more fantastical for the sake of coolness or aesthetic, I personally think these elements are interesting enough to be worth looking into and portraying!

the thing with levi baskerville is that he's such ridiculously heartless person who is so numb to everything he is always in the state of boredom. i believe he legit views all people around him as npcs to amuse him. yet. yet there's such incredible rage at the violent status quo of his own house behind all his actions. which makes me think he used to feel and hurt so deeply to warrant this willingness to do ANYTHING to end glens/children of ill omen cycles of abuse and all this total indifference as inner defense mechanism.

my dream last night was mentally tagged as "based on a movie you've seen!" and I was like "I wish that was true, because then I could rewatch it!" and so my dream doubled down on that, and after going through the whole story (which, I do appreciate that I got to see the whole story, it was very neat!), the dream shifted to 'awake' me looking the movie up on my phone to prove that it was real.

I couldn't remember the title, so I googled "audrey hempburn sleeping beauty" because it was a sleeping beauty retelling (presumably), and the lead actress was Anne Hathaway, misrecognized as Audrey Hepburn*

and of course, since I was dreaming, found the movie! I don't remember the title anymore, but I think it had both the words Love and Power in it. Also, the movie was based on a book! With a similar but slightly different title.

So I went and found the book, which I just so happened to have on hand, and started rereading the story. Also it turns out that it was the first book in a series of like five.

definitely think astarion and shri’iia would only get married for the attention lmfao. they’d plan this super elaborate wedding that’s purely sponsored via guilt tripping rich patriars (they’re the heroes of the gate after all!!!) and entry requirement are seperate gifts the bride and the groom as well as the newly wedded couple. booze would be served throughout the whole night so when everyone’s relatively drunk astarion can run wild and snatch some 🤏 jewels while shri’iia distract and regales them with the political intrigue down in menzoberranzan. then they’d get married again next month in another city, then the next, the next.

I just loathe the arguments of turning tragedies or things of a similar caliber into something Political, rendering any sort of discussion about it as poor taste. To me it feels like there are definitely things that are just inherently political and trying to divorce tragedies from their circumstances and instead just existing in a vacuum is insulting, to say the least
