of course anon! just a heads up that while i may personally headcanon animatronics with certain sexualities, doesn't mean that i have any sort of issue with others headcanoning otherwise! they're fictional characters with no set identities, of course, and i encourage other interpretations! i'm also specifically using the terms masculine and feminine in terms of preference / identity so as to not be exclusive to people who fit in binary identities - as a nonbinary/genderqueer (as well as bi ace) person, i understand that language surrounding attraction and gender can be fucky sometimes but please know that not feeling as though you fit into my descriptions here does not mean you cannot read or enjoy my content - i always try to stick to gender neutral readers unless specified otherwise, so that everyone feels included or represented! that said, here goes!

glamrock freddy in my interpretation is bi, with little to no preference of the gender of his partner! he uses he/him, but that's as far as he's considered gender identity. he's naturally attracted to people who are kind or who seem to genuinely care, and while his more diplomatic personality can be a good level for more impulsive or hot-headed people, he generally tends to shy away from people who are outright argumentative - our boy does NOT like unnecessary confrontation for the sake of it. (this does not mean he will not stand up for what he believes in, just that he does not like when people want to argue for no reason.)

montgomery gator is imo unlabelled but multi-spectrum, with a preference for masculine partners (although he is by no means only into masculine / male people!) he also uses he/him, and while i haven't thought too hard about his gender i don't really see him as cis, so take that as you will! unlike freddy, he does enjoy confrontational people and he tends to not be as comfortable around people who he thinks are just agreeable to avoid arguments. he wants someone he can be himself around, and he is quite hot-headed.

glamrock chica i see as bi with a preference for feminine partners! she uses she/her, but i can also see her being open to using they/them or other pronouns! she's not picky about the personality of her partners, since she gets along with almost everyone! she does have a soft spot for shyer or more quiet people, though, as she thinks it's cute!

roxanne wolf i personally headcanon as a lesbian because - yeah, i just can't imagine her as anything else, and nobody else i've talked to really can either! she has attraction to girls of any kind, and any nonbinary folk who would include themselves in that pool of attraction! she's possibly the most enigmatic out of the main band with her preferences, but she likes people who don't immediately brush her off as self-centred or self-absorbed - there's so much more to her, and anyone who actually takes the time to get to know her will see her warming up to them a lot quicker than she would admit.

sun and moon, in my personal headcanon, both use they/them and he/him pronouns individually - there is not a cisgender bone in their body! neither of them really have a label on their attraction (or have really thought about it too hard), but they do have slightly different preferences for a partner! sun is, lovingly, a lot to take in sometimes, so his ideal partner is someone who either matches that energy or mellows it out - in general, people who are very negative to others repel their sunny attitude, but that doesn't mean they don't understand someone can have a bad day! for moon, he's a bit of a Menace and hasn't quite gotten past the "he likes you so he's mean to you" stage. granted, he's never cruel, but he finds themself fixated on people who can either handle his weird ways of expressing love, or who they just find plain cute!

djmm is, well... he's the dj!!! generally going by he/him or it/its pronouns, the dj doesn't really consider himself that aligned to romantic or sexual attraction! on the aro-ace spectrum, probably being under demisexual and demiromantic labels! for that reason, it's hard to pin down what he's interested in in a partner - it tends to vary from person to person!

you offer a shaky smile as he explains the next steps you'll need to take at home. he mentions that you won't require sutures since he doesn't want any obvious scarring, which is a relief because you're not exactly fond of needles. he continues talking about the medications and creams you'll need to apply to your face every night and day for the next month. you agree with a soft nod, feeling the throbbing headache intensify with each movement.

he hands you a prescription paper, and as you reach for it, you nearly stumble, experiencing the same dizziness that preceded fainting. but he catches you in his strong arms with lightning reflexes. you pull back, clutching your head instead, as the headache reaches unbearable levels.

yeosang notices your distress and swiftly guides you back onto the bed, using the gentlest movements. he takes hold of your chin between his fingers and looks into your fluttering eyes as you struggle to keep them open. worry lines crease his forehead as he reaches into his front pocket, retrieving not a pen, but a small flashlight. he shines it in your face, swiftly passing it in front of your eyes to check for dilation.

"you've lost quite a bit of blood," he says, his jaw tensing with concern as he lightly traces the back of his fingers along your cheekbones. "i can't believe i missed that…"

you wave your hand dismissively, whispering that it's okay since you only recently started feeling the effects of the blood loss.

"do you know your blood type? we need to transfuse, sweetheart," he whispers, clicking on his laptop, most likely searching for your blood type in your folder, which isn't available since this is your first visit to this hospital. you don't dwell on the endearment, too focused on recalling your blood type from memory.

"no, sorry, i don't remember," you meekly reply, feeling a tinge of embarrassment. after all, what adult doesn't know their own blood type?

"it's okay," he reassures, turning to you with a soft smile. "i'll take a sample, send it to one of the nurses, and they'll find out for us, okay?"

the question is rhetorical, and you realize it. you don't bother mentioning your fear of needles; it's not that you're scared of them, but you just don't want them penetrating your body.

with wide eyes and clammy hands, you agree with a small nod. yeosang immediately notices your tension. your knee bounces up and down rapidly, and your hands tremble slightly in your lap. he doesn't say anything as he retrieves a disinfected syringe from a small plastic container, along with two tubes.

he brings a chair in front of you and takes a seat, bringing himself down to your level. you gaze at him through your lashes, and yeosang feels his heart skip a beat. he takes a deep breath, then gently holds your hands, rubbing his thumbs softly against your skin. he can feel your rapid heartbeat under his touch and gives your hand a reassuring squeeze.

"hey," he simply says, and you look at him, waiting for more. when no further words come, you respond with a quiet "hey" of your own.

"good, the patient is responsive, not a lifeless body," he smiles crookedly, cracking a joke that brings a smile to your face.

"wow, the patient is even smiling. today must be my lucky day," your smile widens, and he releases your hands. you hadn't realized how grounding his touch had been until it disappeared.

he grabs your arm and places your hand on his lap, palm facing up. he starts tapping the crook of your elbow since you're wearing a t-shirt, trying to locate your veins. when they don't appear, he clucks his tongue and takes hold of your smaller fist in his own, manually making your hand clench while his other hand remains on your forearm, attempting to raise a vein.

you remain silent and still, focusing on his concentrated expression. his eyebrows furrow, and his eyes remain fixed except for the occasional blink. his strong nose defines his face, and you notice the spot where he bites his cheek from inside his mouth. there's a small birthmark next to his eye, shaped like a tiny heart, and you find it endearing.

"enjoying the view?" he smirks, and before you can respond to defend your honor, he grabs the syringe, effectively silencing you. he tears open the packaging, discarding the waste on the table, and approaches your arm.

you flinch when he places a hand on your forearm, and he looks up at you with a gentle smile. however, the sight of the needle next to his face does little to calm you.

"'m gonna need you to keep your eyes on me, can you do that?" he asks, and you nod once, not planning on fixating on the impending puncture. "i'll make it quick, i promise, princess. do you trust me?" once again, you nod, this time thrown off balance by the endearing nickname, which he notices through the quiver of your lips.

"if i asked for your number, would you give it to me?" he shocks you with the question, as he's one of the most beautiful humans you've ever encountered, and here you are, looking like a complete mess with half your face covered in blood and a massive hole in your forehead.

"y-yeah, i would, obviously," you stammer, and he swiftly inserts the needle, hitting the vein accurately—something for which you're internally grateful. instinctively, you glance downward, but he quickly clicks his tongue, drawing your attention back.

"what did we say, eyes on me," he shows off his perfect teeth as he finally removes the needle, carefully transferring its contents into the two small bottles which he pushes aside. "now about this phone number."

If you were to die, V would blame himself for it for a while… He could protect you better, make sure that you're safe… but then? He would avenge you, make sure that the people who killed you or drove you to take your own life weren't unpunished.

A break up? On bad terms? V leaves the server for a bit longer than usual. He has to collect himself, pick up every piece that could be scattered after this relationship ends. If you broke up on semi-good terms he will still treat you with respect, maybe even friendship. But if you ended the relationship on bad terms, you becoming the same as the people he kills, he will kill you. "To save you from yourself and your demons", and then he will proceed to lose himself in his vigilante work.

If one of the animals he rescues end up hurt, or dead, V will become shut down, maybe depressed. He couldn't protect the animal… how can he ever clean the world from those who destroy its peace?

I really, really hate the "Female V is canon" vs "Male V is canon" debate that been popping here and here in the tags those past weeks

Cyberpunk 2077 is a Role Playing Game, there is no "canon" protagonist, that's the whole point. We all have a different playstyles, different stories and headcanons, our custom V is The Canon V of Our Own playthroughs!

After Phantom Liberty dropped, I've seen a lot of players, on Tumblr or Twitter, voicing their concerne and disappointment in how much more Female V focused the official promo, videos and even in-game credits became

I was one of them too, expressing my feelings multiple times, sometimes awkwardly, frustrated that Male V players were once again brushed to the side, because that's how it feels like, right?

Well, it might feels like it, but this isn't the case AT ALL, far from it. This is only what I would call a "Fandom Phenomenon" and I want to talk more about it a bit

I had a great conversation with a friend of mine who works in the game industry and it opened my eyes on the matter, and I've since been really interested in seeing RPGs statistics!

Because it's really, really important to make the difference between the Casual Player Base (majority of players) and the Fans / Fandom Base (minority of players)

I always been lurking in fandoms here on Tumblr, since Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and now with Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur's Gate 3

First I want to drop some stats- might be completly wrong, but I'm only sharing my point of view here, in an attempt to explain why some people are frustrated with Female V being the focus (and why we shouldn't be!)

I think it's not wrong to say that fandoms are mostly occupied by women and fem-identifying individuals; fandoms are a safe place for players and fans to share their passions. Women are STILL HEAVILY harassed and hated in the gaming industry as a whole, it doesn't take a lot of digging to catch a vile comment on Twitter or on Twitch for example, you cannot go far without seeing someone either attacking or sexualizing them

This is a huge problem in the industry still, every games that release with a female protagonist get trashed- just look at the bullshit surrounding GTA 6 just because players will be able to play as a woman as an option

Fandoms are also safe for non-gender conforming people, non-binaries, trans people and queer men, but I think fem individuals and women are a clear majority, at least on Tumblr (only talking about genders identity here and not about being queer or not, not talking about sexualities or attraction) (not an official stat at all and only my point of view and experience from being on Tumblr since ~2012)

Now let's talk about Cyberpunk 2077- because this is my main fandom since 2020, and what prompted me to write this post in the first place

CDPR didn't share any stats recently, but it's REALLY SAFE to assume the MAJORITY of players are playing a straight Male V romancing Panam, followed by a lesbian Female V romancing Judy, but the player pools for both options are still majoritarly cis hetero men (and they are still the focus for AAA studios to sell their games, this is sadly just how it is)

However on the fandom side, Fem V was always the focus; virtual photography, mods, ships, OCs... She was always more popular than Male V, getting more interactions and notes and why trends like "Male V monday" were created and why there is still a lack of male V focused mods (non-binaries and trans fem folks and characters are also sadly under-represented in all type of content and art)

So, being yourself as a non-fem player, playing as a Masc V, seeing CDPR officially make the switch from Male V to Female V, when the space you've been in for the past 3 years has been overwhelmingly Female V focused on all front, was a bit of a punch in the guts; like I said earlier, I was reaaally frustrated with this too!

And I'd say it's "normal"? or at least "ok" to feel this way, it makes sense considering how little attention Male V in general get in the fans community

BUT. BUT... It's REALLY important here to realize how we sound and how we look like when we voice our frustrations on the matter; we sound and look just like all the misogynistic people over on Twitter who screams about "woke games" everytime there is a female protagonist in their "non political games". We have to remember that fandoms are suuuch a small part of the game industry

Astarion is nowhere to be seen in the official most romanced companions statistic, but I'm sure a lot of people will agree that he's probably the most popular one in the fandom side!

Another stat here from Mass Effect and really interesting info coming from David Gaider about how the hardcore fanbase aka fandom's choices were WILDLY different from the casual / main player pool

Getting my head out of the fandom bubbles and seeing the bigger picture, how much under-represented women still are in official medias (not talking about fan content) and how insanly misoginistic the game industry still is, both on the player and devs sides, helped me handle my own frustration on the matter, accept and even celebrate Female V being the focus for the Phantom Liberty campaign

With all that said tho, we all should be able to vent about the lack of Male, Masc and Non-Binary content in the fandom side, while still being aware of the industry state, it CAN co-exist! It doesn't make anyone a bad or misogynist person!

We are all humans and can be awkward and make mistakes, especially when voicing frustration or talking while in a negative mood. Let's educate one another in good-faithed manners when we slip instead of jumping to conclusion and throw accusations

Not gonna lie I kind of lost my train of thoughts and not sure how to finish this post, but I hope this can enlight some people on why CDPR made this choice!

Repeating this as a finale note; this doesn't mean that Female V is the "main" V or "canon" V . It's simply her time to shine, and it's well deserved! The industry needs it

Yuri HanaNene Headcanons

• Since I headcanon Boy!Hanako as transmasc I like to think Girl!Hanako would be transfem (it’s me, ofc I have to make all my headcanons as queer as possible)

• I also headcanon Nene as transfem so they’re still t4t in the Yuri HanaNene Universe (YHU)™️

• Hanako being a girl would definitely add a layer of complications to Nene’s feelings for her. She wouldn’t be thinking abt it in the heteronormative way of “he’s a boy so he probably likes me so I should give him a chance.” More likely she’d be freaking out at the idea of Hanako liking her because if she likes her back then that means something deeper for her personal identity

• Meaning that the Confession Tree chapter would center more around Nene having a sexuality crisis. She may have had some idea that she liked girls before, but now she’s having to seriously consider her identity and that’s scary for her (maybe Aoi’s advice to her is a bit more meaningful and we get some earlier hints that Aoi is also hiding parts of herself)

• But by the time she meets Hanako under the Confession Tree, she’s starting to wonder what it might be like to date a girl. It sounds intimidating, but also kind of nice. And just as she starts to open herself up to it, the confession turns out to be part of a scheme

• After 65 years Hanako has probably figured out her own sexuality, and since she had to repress that part of herself when she was alive (due to it being the 60s and all), she’s totally girl crazy and v much like the overly flirty Hanako we know in canon

• Nene already has enough reason to be secretive about her crush on Hanako due to her being a ghost but a girl as well?? There’s a lot riding on it

• That could give her something to connect with Kou over rather than his romance subplot being very separate from the rest of the cast and almost secretive. They both know about each other’s crushes and tease each other accordingly

• Imo Kou and Hanako would definitely still be just friends (girl or boy Hanako isn’t Kou’s type lol) but they’d still have those slightly flirty moments that they have in canon. Bicons

• Nene would initially be shocked that Hanako is so open about her interest in women, but that would eventually inspire her to accept her own sexuality

• True to the ASHK chapter, Nene would absolutely love giving Hanako makeovers. She does her hair up in different styles and lets her borrow her clothes

• Hanako’s defensive behavior whenever a man gets too close to Nene is more out of overprotectiveness than jealousy (tho that air of possessiveness is most definitely still there lol)

• In addition to writing poetry, Nene makes playlists about her crush on Hanako (wlw canon event)

• Nene tries to get Hanako to engage in “girl talk” abt their crushes but it always ends in Hanako flirting with her (cue a lot of blushing and “you’re not my type”)

• Since Nene is more affectionate with women I don’t think she’d mind Hanako’s clinginess as much

• In general Nene is a total girls girl and befriends women very easily so I think her and Hanako would get along better at first, but they’d still have that teasing nature of Nene bullying her that’s true to canon HanaNene (and every TBHK ship lol)

• I think their dynamic would be similar to Rae and Claire from I’m In Love With The Villainess. Hanako is very flirty at first and Nene thinks it’s just a joke, and at a certain point she’s just confused because she doesn’t think she’s lovable so Hanako must be joking. That would only be at the start of the manga tho, as I mentioned before the Confession Tree is a major turning point

• I could see Nene being very overprotective of Hanako in an “I’m the only one who’s allowed to talk shit about her” way

• Nene is bi with a preference for boys and Hanako is bi with a preference for girls. bi4bi t4t girlfriends

• At some point during the story they start sharing hair clips and regularly get into arguments over who lost one of them

• While Nene doesn’t initiate physical affection as much as Hanako, she does cling to her and hold her hands a lot more

• Matching hairstyles and outfits ofc

• Nene buys extra snacks/candies at lunch to share with Hanako after school

• Their feelings for each other are less obvious to others at first since they’re both girls but once they really fall for each other it’s impossible to mistake their relationship for friendship

After much consideration, I've developed headcanons for the sexualities of Sector V members in my Codename: Kids Next Door AU. I've aimed to stay true to their canonical personalities and relationships, envisioning how they might identify as they grow older. Please note, these are just my interpretations and not official characterizations.

Nigel Uno

Romantic attraction: Aromantic

Sexual attraction: Bisexual

Reasoning: Nigel's aro-bi identity reflects his singular focus on his goals and his strong friendships. As someone deeply devoted to his mission, Nigel might find romantic relationships distracting or unnecessary, but he still recognizes and respects his attraction to all genders.

Romantic Journey:

- Dated Lizzie Devine during childhood. They broke up after he joined the Galactic Kids Next Door (GKND). Which left then both heartbroken.

- Upon returning to Earth, Nigel attempted to reconcile with Lizzie and rekindled their relationship. But Lizzoe already hurt by everything and couldn't handle it, and they stayed as friend on mutual terms. Which was hard on the both of them.

- During the time of them, just being friend Nigel got in touch with Rachel McKenzie. They began to hang out more and eventually ended up dating during the whole time him and Lizzie were just friend.

- To their own dismay, Lizzie was not okay with it, and this turned into a whole situation cause Rachel and Nigel to break up. Nigel and Rachel remained friends and even encouraged her to go to date Franny. Eventually, he got back with Lizzie after years and years of apologizing and making it up to her.

They eventually got back together via Abby, and Hoagie was caught into he middle between his old romance and his new one. Eventually, Wally and Hoagie broke up and ended on mutual terms. They remained best friendz but just aren't as close they used to be.

Kuki Sanban

Reason: Kuki's open-hearted and accepting nature makes her naturally panromantic, as she forms deep emotional connections with individuals regardless of gender. Romantic Journey:

- Dates Ace at the beginning of high-school,they didn't have much problems when they dated and kuki was head over heels for him until she found out the was just a nother side pieces in Ace's harm of girls and dump it after discovery.

- After Ace, she dates a nice boy named Ben who she met during her volunteer work at the pect clinic, they had a healthy relationship before they borke up on mutual terms when he had to move away via dad's got a new job.

- A little years after she met a boy named Chris, they hit off and began dating. They were okay, but the more they grew up, the more they learned more about their sexuality and sadly broke up as Chris announced he likes guys. They broke up under mutual circumstances and still keep in touch every now and then

Three years later, Kuki met David, her and Dave hit it off and had a pretty healthy relationship until she moved in with him, and he began to act strange and differently. Kuki stayed with this one the longest but only broke up after Wally figured out how he treats Kuki and discoverer she was a victim of domestic abuse and utterly saves her from that. ( might have gotten into a fight with him)

- After the whole incident, Kuki took sometime to get to rebuild and know herself a little more before getting with Wally finally when they became adults.

Reasoning: Wally's demi-bisexuality adds depth to his relationships and character development. It highlights how much he values emotional intimacy and connection, making his love for Kuki and his bond with his best friend even more meaningful.

- After seeing Kuki start to date other people, Wally took a go at it and met his first girlfriend Veronica. They had a decent relationship until he discovered she was two timing him with a friend of his the whole time they were in a relationship, and they broke up. Later on, he found out he had a son with her and now raises his son on his own.

- Trying to get out of Father's reach and contract, Wally joined the army and gir deployed. During his years of being in the Special Forces,he met a soldier named Tyler who was in his platoon. They gradually became closer and later on dated, uo to the point where Tyler died on the field via explosion.

- Upon returning from the army, he hoped to start a relationship with Kuki but found she had a boyfriend. Things got awkward between them, and Wally ended up entering a situationship with an equally heartbroken Hoagie. This one of Wally 2nd longest relationship ( Tyler beating it by just a little over 3 months) until Abby came back and took hoagie back. They broke up on mutual terms and remain best friend just are not as close as they used to be

- Wally stopped dating for a while and became the group" that one single friend " until he discovered Kuki's boyfriend. David had been treating his Kuki wrong and was in a domestically abusive relationship with her. Angered Wally helped Kuki break out of that relationship. Kuki and him learned to be singel together and rediscover themselves all before untimely getting together a few months after being an adult.

Reasoning: Abby's cool, collected nature means she's comfortable in her identity, but her romantic orientation might lean more toward women. Her time in France and her relationship with Henrietta could solidify her understanding of her homoromantic side, while her bisexuality reflects her capacity to love across the spectrum.

Romantic Journey:

- Hoagie and her started to date at 10th grade when Hoagie confessed to her in the middle of an empty hallway. They became a stable relationship within the group and had a very healthy relationship through high school and a little bit in college.

- Midway through college, Abby had to move to France to do an internship. Abby not want to make Hoagie suffer more with a long-term relationship that may end bag decided it was best if they broke up before she left. Causing them both to be heartbroken and til.this day was one of the worst decision Abby failures she had made.

- During her internship in France, she reconnected with an old friend, Henrietta. They rekindled their old friendships and eventually got together. They had a decent relationship but broke up in horrible terms. Leaving Abby heartbroken yet again.

- Abby remained single mostly throuyht out her internship until claoe.pt the end, when she ended up dating a French guy who also worked with her. They had a decent relationship until they had to break up via her moving back to Ohio. Him and Abby never talked after that.

- Abby finally returned home and reunited with Hoagie. She made an attempt to make up for what she did and did anything she could to save their friendship. This led to them getting closer and finally rekindled her relationships with him. Abby had no idea Hoagie and Wally was a thing fit back together with Hoagie, causing Wally and Hoagie to break up.

- Hoagie and abby dated again and eventually got engaged when they were closer to adults hood, Abby still feels bad for Wally as she was the caused of the break up and didn't know they were a thing and does her best to make it up to him.

Henry's Dog David, and How RWRB (the Book and the Movie) Explore the Meaning of His Name.

An Easter Egg from the book that the film managed to incorporate in an entirely different context.

Henry naming his dog David is one of the things Alex comments on both in the film and the book. He finds the name particularly odd for a pet, and when Henry tells him later that the inspiration was David Bowie, Alex remarks that he could have just used the surname instead.

This is basically just me overthinking the way the book and the film added "David and Jonathan" to two totally different scenes haha.

David Bowie

There has been a lot of debate over Bowie's sexuality since the 70s, and possibly conflicting statements from Bowie himself over the decades, but he did leave quite an impact on queer people in his time (ref: this article). Henry both in the book and in the film has often turned to literature and art for inspiration, and solace, when it came to exploring his own identity as a gay man. All kinds of historical queer identities - both debated and confirmed - show up in the tapestry of people and ideas that have influenced Henry's own thoughts and ideas (Alex's too). So it definitely makes sense that he would name his beloved pet dog after one of those inspirations.

(notably, during Henry's dramatic entrance when Alex comes down to the UK for damage control, the song playing is Bowie's "Up the Hill Backwards". You also see him choose a Queen song for karaoke, which makes me want to really headcanon him as a 70s prog rock fan 😄)

David and Jonathan

In the book, Alex goes over the details of Henry's fact sheet with Nora and his sister June. When he mentions the name of Henry's dog, he claims his dislike for the name is because it sounds more like a "tax attorney" than a beloved pet (Ch 2).

In the film, it's his SS detail Amy who quizzes him. She responds to his quip about Henry's choice of name for a pet by telling him what she's named her own dog. It's a tiny, fun detail with no lasting importance in the film, but I feel it does work within the larger framework of how the film incorporates queer readings and figures too.

I see this as a reference to a popular reading of the Hebrew/Biblical story of David and Jonathan from the 2 books of Samuel. David was a shepherd anointed by the prophet Samuel (through orders from God), to succeed King Saul, and Jonathan was Saul's son who was extremely devoted to David and even saved him from his father's wrath. They were known to have made a covenant to each other soon after they met, and the first Book of Samuel gives us a picture of an immensely close bond between the two:

After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself. From that day Saul kept David with him and did not let him return home to his family. And Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself. Jonathan took off the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow and his belt. (1 Samuel 18, 1-4)

Interpretations of their relationship have ranged from close friendship to a romantic relationship, and there have been many, many queer readings on this pair.

In Casey McQuiston's RWRB too, Alex references both a saying from the Book of Proverbs (24:13), and the story of David and Jonathan in the same paragraph. This is in Ch 10, when Henry takes Alex to the V&A museum. This particular sequence is in the inner chamber of the museum, shortly after the couple dance to Elton John's "Your Song".

He compares himself and Henry to "a lost David and Jonathan", and it's pretty obvious why when you think of their devotion, and the tragic end of the relationship of the latter. Like Jonathan, Henry is a prince utterly devoted to one man, and sure that his family too will be against their bond. Like David, Alex is an outsider who the royal family may view as a threat to their stability, and therefore must be kept away. David's love for Jonathan is immense: he makes the covenant with Saul's son soon after they meet, and when he mourns Jonathan's death, he says "Thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women." (2 Samuel 1:26).

This amazing post from @elipheleh explores this metaphor more in detail (as well as St. Chiara, and a quote from Oscar Wilde, who is referenced both in the book and the film as a writer Henry is fond of). It also speaks about the verse from the Book of Proverbs that Alex remembers, partly in Spanish, partly in English - Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste. (Proverbs 24:13-14)

(Jonathan in 1 Samuel also has his own reference to honey - there is a story that chronicles a tense moment between Jonathan and his father, King Saul, due to Jonathan eating wild honey on a day when the troops were bound by an oath to fast (he had not heard the oath himself). He almost faces death by Saul's hand for breaking the oath the latter had made, but is saved by the other people in the troops. (1 Samuel 14: 24-46). I've seen different ways of this passage being interpreted - as either Jonathan being judged for disobeying an oath even though he was not around when it was announced, or Saul being viewed as foolish for making such an oath in the first place. The main point is, Saul is ready to kill his son for breaching a certain protocol, and it is the people who save Jonathan.

Similarly IMO, Henry is prepared to live his whole life in the closet viewing his sexuality as something that would bring shame to his family, but eventually recognizes that he has support. Both within his family (in the form of his mother Catherine and his sister Bea), and in the public eye)

At this point in their lives, Alex and Henry see very little hope that things will get better soon enough for them to unite. It is more than likely that - in their minds - this one romantic visit will be their last for a long, long time. Of course David and Jonathan - who parted ways in the hope of being reunited after the battle with Jonathan's father, and whose friendship/love met a tragic end - would be considered a fitting parallel for the situation Alex and Henry find themselves in.

The book has the space and scope to explore many, many images and symbols that could fit Alex and Henry. Whether it's in the letters they send each other, the references Alex learns more about as he figures out his sexuality. The book can - at the V&A museum - describe the statues the two men linger at in loving detail, making us more aware how poignant their temporary separation will be and how bittersweet this last dance is.

The movie's focus is different - the V&A scene is a (presumably) final, deeply intimate moment that lets Alex see for real the weight of his role in Henry's environment, and how little he expects to see his dreams come true. It also lets Henry see how determined Alex is to make his every dream a reality.

Most moments of highlighting queer literature or history are pocketed away in smaller sequences in the film, as small references and Easter eggs (eg. the books they recommend each other), as the film focuses more on the relationship and it's effects both on the men and the world around them. The V&A is more a visual backdrop for that bittersweet last moment where the two can find equal ground and truly understand each other. I think mentioning the names of the statues would take away from that.

The movie didn't need to include David and Jonathan. Why is why I'm truly, truly grateful that they still did. Even as a tiny, cute Easter egg that is supposed to be banter about weirdly specific pet-naming protocol 💖

Also, explaining my headcanon!

(I have a TLDR at the bottom if you want to skip.)

Originally, I headcanoned Setsuka as bisexual. To me, she just wanted good vibes and a great connection with someone - she couldn’t care less about gender. (Also because I was a huge Setsukei shipper back in 2018.)

But after seeing her older design for Chapter 6, I got HEAVY lesbian aunt vibes from her. Then it started changing my brain chemistry for her entirely. (Cool butch older sister, no further comments.)

As for the trans headcanon, I rarely see any trans butch headcanons and wanted to represent that in one of the characters! 

It took a lot of time figuring out the headcanon could work, and I have some general details about it:

I don’t see it as something she’ll talk about casually - only with people she’s close to and knows it won’t change their opinion of her. She’s not ashamed of her identity - just cautious of negative responses.

I also imagine she figured out her identity at a young age, and since then, has had a lot of time to learn little tricks on how to feminise her features, figure, etc. 100% will give you advice if you ask (doesn’t matter if you’re a trans guy either, she’s got a wide range of knowledge.)

Fandom — Identity V Pairing — Gamekeeper | Bane Perez/reader Content Warnings — Author's Notes — Please note that Bane in my headcanons have two prosthetic tongues and a lisp because of this.

With the many years of isolation and the years of grief that came with losing his best friend, Bane longs for a connection where you're both able to trust and love each other and when he found you, he knew that he found the person he wanted.

Bane was a naturally big person as a normal person and a hunter, so, it wasn't a shock when the first time he laid a hand on you it almost enveloped your face, leaving him to pause and drag that hand down your neck, your front, to your waist.

You swore that you could feel the steam coming from underneath his mask as he carried you to a chair, even more silent than he usually was.

After that game, the gamekeeper had taken up your doorway to invite you to the hunter's side for lunch and tea. Literally, the man easily made the doorway look like a pet door when he stood there, mask off and prosthetic tongue talking.

You hadn't even known that the man was even capable of speaking before you saw him like that. It was honestly charming how his eyes had been averted and he seemed unsure of what to say.

Those eyes weren't the same way when he was eating you out. While he wasn't able to use a tongue to fuck you, his fingers were just enough to fill you, and stretch you, while his lips worked at anything he wasn't able to get. His other hand was easily able to pin your hips and chest flat against the bed. He loves the state of you, he loves the smell of you as you squirm and whine.

He likes to pin you down, and hold you in games, but when the two of you are in the bedroom, it's like a whole new ball game. Instead of you struggling for a win, it was one of trust, it was one of carnal need. It allowed for him to sweat off the stress and anger of the day and focus on making the two of you feel good.

He barely fits. Bane is so big that he needs to stretch you out every time so that he doesn't hurt you. His muscles easily cage you in, his hips forcing you to bounce against his skin as he grunted against your neck. Pure raw power, pure need, he fucks you like a wild animal so deep and with raw instinct.

"Look at you, sweetheart," Bane would grunt, flicking a thumb over one of your nipples, the other gripping one of your ass cheeks so tight that you were sure that he would leave bruises, "Taking me in so well..."

And he would easily paint your insides or skin all white. He's sexually suppressed from isolation and he's all pent up, he wants to make sure that you're filled to the brim until you're overflowing. He wants to see you leak cum and still want more.

But god, he wants to also spoil you too; washing you, massaging oils into your skins, letting you know you're loved. Bane needs to share the love he hasn't been able to for years, and its now all for you.

some quick queer fossil fighters headcanons

-Several vivosaurs have been treated throughout the ages as queer icons. Generally, dromaeosauridae, particularly Dilopho, Breme, and Nychus, are seen as representative of all forms of queerness. Moreover, Aopteryx, Proto, and Guam, who are gifted with the ability to transform into yet more glorious iterations of themselves, are commonly used in trans iconography. Shanshan tends to be used as a transmasc icon solely, while Guam is usually used for transfem iconography. Aopteryx is used dually as a generalised trans icon and as a representation of nonbinary Fossil Fighters. Also; Sinopteryx is often incorporated into lesbian iconography.

-Most assume that Holt, for his love of V-raptor, would be gay. They're not wrong that he's queer, but his specific brand of queerness is asexuality.

-Dinaurians have more complex chromosomes than humans, so have their own approach to classifying both sex and gender. While there exist both female and male Dinaurian phenotypes, these phenotypes don't always match with their BC/CC chromosome distributions—environmental influence plays a far greater part in Dinaurian than human puberty, so BC males and females both exist, as do CC males and females, and BC and CC intersex Dinaurians. While Dinaurian standards of masculinity and femininity exist, they present more guidelines than cultural imperatives—as such, many Dinaurians fit into neither box socially or biologically, and this is broadly considered normative. Human ideas of straightness, gayness, and bisexuality thus don't always translate well into Dinaurian culture, as the idea of inherently being attracted to especially stringent expressions of certain chromosomal phenotypes just doesn't compute when those phenotypes aren't straightforward. Dinaurians might mention preferring masculinity or femininity somewhat if asked about their sexualities, but are more likely to emphasise personality, intellect, or specific nondimorphic physical characteristics. -Near the Hare Club, Cranial Isle has a small hangout room labelled 'the Aopteryx Club'. It's a de facto space for trans Fossil Fighters to meet up and trade anecdotes, and Terry insists on setting aside a portion of the Fighter Station housekeeping budget to make sure the Aopteryx Club is furnished as well as possible.

-Terry is gay, and Cole is a bisexual who long assumed himself to be the sole queer man worth his own attention. The two attended highschool together, and slowly, ever so slowly, have been seen becoming more and more affectionate with each other in public.

-Lola is nonbinary and aroace, but doesn't tend to mention her gender identity unless asked. She's seldom felt quite comfortable with they/them pronouns, but considers herself human before she considers herself in any way female. Though she's ace, she absolutely adores gossiping about others' love lives, and has made every effort possible to nudge Cole closer to Terry.

-Lester is nonbinary and transmasc (he/they pronouns). He and Lola spend a great deal of time making music after hours at the Aopteryx club.

-Pauleen and Dina are lesbian. Oh so very lesbian. Dina is usually entirely oblivious to any male expressions of attraction towards her. Pauleen is not oblivious when men adore her, but tends to be upfront about seldom returning feelings.

-Rupert and Dino are gay. Oh so very gay. From a marketing perspective, Rupert's father didn't disapprove of his son's sexuality—rather, he despised his son's choice in partner, and feared that Rupert and Dino's public affection for each other would drive away potential clients for FossilDig. Rupert managed to allay most of his father's worries by pointing out that FossilDig could likely buy into rainbow capitalism more now, but look less conspicuous doing so. Nevertheless, Rupert's father remained too stuffy to follow through on such a business venture, and pride month sales remain anodyne. Joe Wildwest, meanwhile, not only dotes on his son, but has been absolutely vocal about LGBT rights since he noticed that Dino was gay. 'Noticed', rather than 'was told', since Dino never really came out—he just happened to have a first crush on a male, rather than female, classmate, and the family rolled with it from there.

-In the Patrol Team, Todd is the token straight on thin ice.

-P. A. Leon is gloriously and gorgeously aroace. Though she dated as a young woman, she came to realise she better enjoyed time spent alone with her Kraftwerk and Gary Numan records than time spent together with partners. Her team comprises solely dromaesauridae, and as such, long before she used the term 'asexual' on radio, many celebrated her apparent queerness.

-Diggins and Beth are both trans, and Diggins was the first person to popularise Aopteryx as a symbol of transness.

-Joe describes himself as straight, but also swoons over 70s & 80s rockstars. He's as straight as a 70s rockstar can be—that is, functionally bicurious at minimum. An, uh, 'extremely devoted ally'.

-Though Stryker gives extremely little away to the press, he's always been openly gay. It's not something he's ever wished to conceal; as such, he's the first openly queer head of the Wardens.

-Dahlia and Penny are probably the most prominent resident sapphic couple at INTERFOL.

Idol Zoro headcanon

-So I was wondering what sort of artiste Zoro would be. I have already decided that Sanji would be Britney with traces of Beyoncé, Eren would be Christina. Ezreal would be like Justin Bieber. I decided to make Zoro like Usher with elements of Jay-Z. I initially envisioned him as just a rapper but after watching a YouTube video with Mackenyu singing and hitting dem falsettos, I thought that Zoro would be a sexy RnB singer

- Loads of songs about sex. Not shocking considering who his lover is though Sanji beats him in that department

- His parents are Japanese immigrants

- He was bullied as a kid thanks to his mixed heritage

- His father was married before and had three kids Kuina, Johnny and Yosaku. He is close to his half siblings

- He is the youngest in the Roronoa household which explains why he is so spoiled at times

- He hated his dad Arashi for being a toxic, abusive father

- He and his mum Tera had a rocky relationship due to his wild antics. Still she spoiled her son rotten. Also she was not that present in Zoro’s life which made him resent her for years

- Like Zoro got into trouble when he was younger because it was that difficult to tame him. He got up to all kinds of mischief and would openly flirt with boys but would sleep with none of them

- He met Griffith when he was 13 and lost his virginity to him. Their relationship was toxic and Griffith abused him to the point where Zoro snapped and they got into a violent fight at a club which got them both arrested. Zoro was a movie star by this point

- Arashi would re-enter his life a changed man by this point and his conversation with him changed Zoro and tamed him completely and also made him the cold hearted manipulative King that he currently is

- Zoro was in Gear V for a while before leaving to do his own thing

- Despite the ups and downs, his relationship with Sanji is considered a blessing for both of them

- He went solo the year after the Griffith incident and that was the best thing to happen to him

- He struggled with his sexuality and had an identity crisis til he met Sanji

- He had a mental breakdown after Griffith came back into his life to wreck havoc that Sanji stepped up and destroyed Griffith on his behalf

- He has a massive male fanbase for obvious reasons

- As he gets older and gets more muscular, fanboys drool over him

- Don’t be fooled by his cool looks, he can be quite a sexy tease and is as wild as Sanji when he is in a good mood
