Chapter VII

In Which Katherine Frees A Boy In The Ice

The cold rush of air hitting her prone form sent Katherine’s teeth chattering. Goose pimples puckered on her skin. Why was it so cold? Where were her blankets?

She felt around, but it was as though she’d left her window open again. Her reaching fingers managed to brush against something warm. Instinctively, she curled toward it.

Her mind came to its senses, and her eyes cracked open. She was lying in an expanse of white — thick, cold blankets of snow — in the middle of a strange forest. The massive pines seemed to be planted in the ground as if they’d been placed there by a child. Snow danced over her head, drawing slicing patterns in the cloud covered sky. Ice clung to her hair and eyelashes and her skin. Blinking shattered and made the ice poke at the delicate skin there.

Thanks for the clarification on this post. With that knowledge, I'm going back to my gut feeling of Hermes. IDK why I feel like Hermes would be most likely, it's just a gut feeling. I feel that either Eros wouldn't have a tumblr (just a snapchat (or whatever's being used these days for thirsty selfies)) or would openly write very horny fanfiction on tumblr.

chimera: have/would you ever dye your hair? what colour?

I have! I died it blue a few years back. And more recently I tied it a really fun mix. The top of half of my head was dyed black, and the bottom half, under my pony tail was dyed to look like a nebula!! It was so pretty. I want to do that again some day.

Comfort. Even the stylish clothes I wear is also comfortable first.

I have a lot of stuffed animals and art supplies.

I want to say the bottom middle one the the humanitarian service medal. Because when you zoom out and look at the bigger picture (that a low res zoom on them), it matches almost perfectly.

That could be it! Taking another look at the order of precedence military ribbons can be displayed in and cross-referencing it with the possible ribbons I suggested, the Joint Service medals, Army Achievement medal, and Armed Forces Reserve medal all get eliminated, leaving Anarctica, Humanitarian, and Outstanding Volunteer.  

His lack of a Vietnam Ribbon is rather glaring, since it really out to be there. In fact, the Army of Occupation Medal is an odd one to have - and he definitely has it, looking at any picture that’s one I’m sure of. That medal was issued in response to WWII, and didn’t have anything to do with the later conflict in Vietnam. You had to have done at least 30 consecutive days of occupation service in either Germany, Italy, Austria, or Japan to get an Occupation Medal.

In total, his rack of ribbons is what I would expect to see from someone who served well in active duty in an occupied region but did not see active combat - in fact, I just learned that the Meritorious Service Ribbon, was, prior to 2001, only given out during peacetime. Of course, someone can serve in wartime and then continue to serve into peacetime, or vice versa, so on it’s own, it doesn’t preclude serving in an active war zone. 

However, all the other identified ribbons do not require being in an active war zone either. In fact, the National Defense Service Medal was established to specifically include service members who served in active duty during specific time periods but not in active war zones. Because if he had served in such a zone, he ought to have a Korean Service Medal or a Vietnam Service Medal or a Southwest Asia Service Medal, etc. (and the 9th Division - because octofoil - was only deployed to one of those places)

He had to have gotten his Combat Infantryman Badge, above his ribbon rack, from somewhere, but wherever it was, he does not seem to have a corresponding ribbon for it.
