Can you maybe go and summarize the orologia loreeee, im too lazy to read it all, but i love the character design
of course!! it's my pleasure, i love them so much!
i don't know how familiar you are with Granblue but i'll try to make this as accessible as possible for non-Granblue fans --
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is only One Character btw. Orologia is genderfluid and goes from one apparence to the next a lot. There's a whole portion of their event where they switch appearance every sentences or so.
On the event they were introduced, their appearance also depends on the Main Character gender. If you play as Gran (Male!MC) they'll start out with their fem appearance and will finish the event with their male appearance, and if you play as Djeeta (F!MC) it's the opposite.
Otherwise they go from one presentation to the other in different stories they've appeared in since. They're also a dragon -- the human-ish appearance is one they took to approach the Skyrealms, where our story happens.
Orologia is one of the first Dragons in existence, and they oversee Causality. in Granblue the first dragons, also called Wedges, all influence a concept and can manipulate the element they're associated with. By being the Wedge of Causality, Orologia can see different timeline and see how to influence the man timeline in order to get the result they think is best for the world's development. They can also lock themself into simulations where they can experience as many realities as possible in order to see what future would be best to influence and how, but those simulations take a lot on their bodies, and also emotionally because for Orologia everything they see and feel in simulations is real, so when things go wrong the heartbreak caused by it shatters them.
As they've been here since the beginning of time, they have done their best to try to develop a world where the people of the Skyrealms would have a chance to live as happily as they could. However they cannot influence the Astral realm nor the Primal Beasts, as their power only extend to the Skyrealms, and therefore they have to plan around this. Usually they use their powers to influence some things by butterfly effect, because they can't do anything too drastic to alter the future. They also give vision to people who can see the future in order to help them prevent some catastrophic events.
We first hear of Orologia when Arulumaya, one of the psychic in our journey, says they came to her in her visions to warn her about a cataclysm that was about to hit the skyrealm. We then learn more about then when we're introduced to the 6 Dragons, Wedges of the elements and of light and death. Orologia is considered their elder and is also the one who gave them their Skydwellers appearance.
But we officially get introduced to Orologia during the 9th Anniversary event called "... and you".
Tumblr media
The Main Character of Granblue Fantasy is considered "A Singularity". Orologia explains that the reason for that is because the Singularity exists in every possible timeline, and therefore, it means that their own existence is going to influence the world pretty drastically, for better or for worse.
Knowing the fate that awaits us, Orologia locked themself in simulations in order to try to figure out the best path we could get to live a happy life with as little struggle as Orologia can manage.
Our Main Character was abandoned by their parents, not knowing anything about their mother and learning that their father left in a journey to never return. As a result, our MC grew up in loneliness, with only Vyrn, the small red dragon at their side.
Orologia, knowing that, therefore first tried simulations where Orologia would be there to be a parent for MC, trying out simulations when MC was a baby.
Tumblr media
Immediately, Orologia loved the Main Character as a parent would their child. In those simulations, Orologia stayed around as a supportive parent who would do anything for their child. As those simulations are very real to them, the simple duty of caring for us because we were the Singularity morphed into Orologia caring for us because we are Their Child.
Orologia influenced as many things as they could at first also to try to get our friends out of situations that would cause them so much heartbreak.
For example, they looked at Seox, who was locked in cells and abused as a child by his parents who were part of a master clan of assassin, and when they "tested" Seox for his assassin skills by drugging him, Seox, as a kid, massacred the whole clan and was left dealing with the guilt of such a horrible thing happening to him. He met our father afterward, and our father did his best to help Seox feeling better, but left him there -- and it's over a decade later that Seox meets MC and gets to grow with MC's warmth, and upon learning who our father was, feeling guilty that MC's father was more of a father to him than they were to MC. In the first simulations, Orologia influenced Causality in order for our father to find Seox BEFORE the massacre and bring him back to MC's house. While their father still abandonned them, Seox therefore was also raised by Orologia and Seox and MC could grow up as siblings, avoiding the horrors of their past.
This is the type of things Orologia will tweak in order to give us the happiest life as possible...................
but with horror, Orologia realized that being a dotting parent to MC would bring them to doom no matter what. Without their loneliness to drive them forward, MC keeps meeting an early death.
Orologia ran 5,153 simulations as MC's parent, refusing to acknowledge that the only path MC can survive on is one where they are fully alone. They tried to influence the timeline in every way, constantly having to see how MC would gruesomely die, over and over again. From freak accident to people trying to kill MC just because they're a threat to the skies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But even if they try so hard to deny this reality, they have to accept eventually that they need to be out of MC's life. And they need Seox to be out of MC's life. they need MC to be fully lonely to survive.
and it breaks Orologia's heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
During the second part of the event we see as Orologia tried to influence the others timeline to make things easier for our friends, even though they couldn't be there for us. We get to see multiple timelines of our fav characters getting a Bad End and Orologia trying to see the path that will lead to their happiness, and therefore, all the horrors we go through in our events are the necessary evil Orologia had to let come to pass.
By the end of the event, Orologia has ran 576,000,000 simulations, trying to figure out the best one for us.
During "... and you" however, Orologia is dying. Because in one of the simulation they were our parent in, MC wondered what their real mom ever felt about them, and Orologia promised they would figure it out. So Orologia searched every timeline for a moment with our mother that they could show us. Complicated to explain but our Mother is being hid by God's interferance itself, so Orologia strained themselves into getting this message, if only to let us know our mother loved us.
And because they did this many simulations, the barrier between every dimensions is about to collapse unless Orologia bears all of those possible timeline inside of them, and that they're killed before they can go bersek. Meanwhile as it happens, our Main Character is getting feverish and sick. It's implied that this deep connection with Orologia means they can feel what the suffering is all about.
Orologia begs the others 6 dragons, the Eternals, and even MC to kill them. They talk about how they know MC is too soft and they'll never manage to do it, but it's the only way they can leave this future into the hands of our MC, and they were hoping MC wouldn't know how much Orologia loved them so it would be easier, even though he knows this kid won't give up.
Orologia manages to pass down the words from our mothers they tried to reach, and then apologize to MC about all the pain they had to put everyone they loved into for it to be the best ending.
But we're the Singularity and we defy the odds. Fate cannot so easily be calculated for us, and we end up able to save Orologia's life in a way Orologia didn't manage to see coming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and like that we saved Orologia's life, saved the skies, because ultimately we have the free will to choose our own path, and our own path is to save Orologia.
Ever since then, Orologia has been fine. they've reunited with the others dragons, and for now is acting awkward with MC, because while Orologia has loved MC for so many centuries (because Orologia mentions he started running simulations after the Astrals occupation's war, which we know to be a few centuries ago), MC doesn't know how much Orologia has loved them.
At the very end of the events we realize that there was a code in the name of each chapter. The code translate to "HOW ARE YOU". The final part of the story is called "I'm fine THANK YOU". all of this to conclude the event, called "... and you?"
So that's basically all you need to know about Orologia. They're the parent who stepped up, the one who went through all of those possible scenario, only to keep us safe and love us as much as possible.
They've cameo'ed in some Fate Episodes since then, influencing some light moment of life by butterfly effect, and we learn also that the 6 dragons have been asking Orologia helps to make gifts for us.
But yeah. So far that's where we're at.
And that's why we love them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so you totally should get our Orologia today.
Tumblr media
you're welcome ;D
and if you want i wrote a propaganda poll for them a while back.
Take care <3

god seeing a fanart of Orologia giving some New Year's gift to Djeeta and Seox and it's hitting me in the face that like
for Logia, Seox was their son too............
like of course they focused on MC, they had to, the fate of the universe depended on it
but at some point they worked hard to try to save Seox too. to give him a family who would love him. to spare him from the horrors, from the blood on his hands, from the eternal guilt.
letting Seox fall down to the horrors was also a decision Orologia had to take.
and we know Logia was just as stubborn to try to save Seox from this fate than they were to remain at MC's side.
they tried so hard
and yet the best timeline was to bring Seox -- the child Orologia raised in multiple timelines -- back to abusers, to being locked in a dark room, to being driven to madness, to murder every last one of his own people, minus one.
Orologia still hesitates to look at MC in the eyes after all those timelines, but at least they did everything they could for them, and the implication of the event is that MC is aware of the amount of timelines Logia went through, MC knows Logia tried their best, they know how much Logia loved them.
but does Seox know?
does Seox know he had a parent who actually cared about him? a parent who wanted to save him from a life of killings and murders, and pain? instead of trying to make him a killer? and succeeding in the worst of ways?
does he know why this purple haired newcomer in the crew look at him with this much sadness? so much guilt?
is Logia even able to deal with the guilt? that they should have fought harder to find a timeline where their son wouldn't have to suffer too?
Seox was Orologia's son too......

this is totally random but god, with every crazy things that happened in the 9th anni story i don't feel like it sank in enough that Granblue Fantasy said that if Lancelot lost Vane, he would be a bloodthirsty killer who would have no mercy whatsoever.
Vane, who's storyarc has been about how he feels like he's never enough, that he can't catch up to the people around him, that he's replaceable, who's working twice as hard as everyone else to feel like he can earn his place as a protector, who only NOW is confident about what he can bring, but started out in a place of self loathing about how he's not that useful
... being Lancelot's salvation JUST by being alive. And therefore being the salvation of Feendrache because the person Lancelot would have become without Vane is too awful to think of.
Just... that just living is enough. Just living is already making a difference. I think it's a nice theme to put on a character who didn't feel useful for the longest time. That he didn't even need to be useful. He just needed to be alive. and that was enough.
Man the 9th anni event still hits when i think about it mannnnn.

it's so cool thank you so much for sharing!!!!

i am an orologia truther (= they should give us gifts when and you reruns or something. they can change their gender every day. maybe they'll talk about how they got their baby some gifts so they can keep going and then apologise for calling us their baby but we don't correct them and over the course of the rerun they get more confident about interacting with us and giving us stuff and taking care of us because we love them.)
PLEASE YES IT WOULD BE THE CUTEST
Honestly i could see Orologia ramble about how, well, in the simulations we were their baby, and they know that for us it doesn't mean anything because we didn't know the life they led in it, but for them it means a lot and they just want to share some gifts if only to be a bit part of our lives but "not imposing or anything since i know you don't really know me"
and yeah they'd definitely call us their baby and then get flustered by going sorry! i shouldn't call you that anymore! meanwhile by the end of the rerun event they're just....
"ah... you... want me to keep calling you that? but it's okay you don't have to make this effort for little old me- you... you really don't mind?" or something
and i want a way for them to realize by the very last line before they leave that they'll always be a parent for us and this time they have a chance at it outside of the simulation
basically i just want Logia to realize they're our parent outside of the simulation too, and be covered in love the way they covered us in love all that time.
I just want an option to keep cherishing Logia for ever. Granblue. Granblue please.

You raise a good point
Orologia is so sad from so many angles
But at the same time, I kinda hope Danchou and Logia too don't tell the others about the lives they could have had
I feel like saying "I'm sorry, your life could have been perfect and happy, but you suffering trauma and other shortcomings just ended up being more important for the sake of the whole world" would upset people and feel needlessly cruel
"You could have had it all but then the world would have ended" sounds like a cop-out, people could get upset and yell and claim Orologia didn't try hard enough, because they don't know better
So I hope we don't tell Seox, because he's in a good place now and I don't want him to have to think back about his suffering or getting lost in any what-if scenarios
You're welcome to disagree with me, obviously, I just personally don't think anyone would really benefit from this knowledge, y'know
i do agree actually that there is no winning on this one. Even if they manage to rationalize that Orologia tried their best, that the timelines with their happiness would somehow have brought the end of the world, it would be... an incredibly bitter pill to swallow.
I do think some of it were said to some people tho -- considering some of the homescreen lines have like, Lancelot or Narmaya (that comes to mind) comment on their dark alternate universe for instance.
I think it might be easier, in general, to tell them how things could have gone wrong and how much better they have it now --
but telling them "here's how you could have been happy" would be cruel.
and Seox also comments in the homelines that "being raised with MC? i wish that would have been possible..." that implies he might know that it has been a possibility (but also, like, i think it's something he could have imagined without thinking it would absolve him from the massacre. After all in Seeds of Redemption we learn that when he met our father after the massacre, our father talked about us to him, and Seox did dream of being able to stay with that man by staying with his family too, but that never happened. So, even if you tell seox "you were raised with MC" he could think "oh so their father brought me home after the massacre?" -- without having to know that, no, the timeline they're talking about saves him from that entirely.)
but regardless, yeah, i think Seox probably shouldn't know about it too. He is learning to accept what happened, he is still struggling with his relationship with Nehan nowadays, i think it would be too cruel to tell him that it could all have been avoided.
which is why i think Orologia would just look at Seox from afar. Not telling him anything, but looking at him with so much love, and sadness, and guilt. And Seox would not understand what is it about. Seox is already on the shy front too, so it's not like he would reach out to ask. But clearly this newcomer in the crew has been looking at him strange -- and even if Seox manage to gather the courage to ask, they keep dodging his questions.
Seox learns who Orologia is and their power, and he has to believe it means Logia saw something in others timelines about him, that they saw the massacre, perhaps they're judging him for that.
Eventually Logia can only tell him that they'd never judge, that it was a tragedy and they're sad for Seox, is all.
I think Seox could accept that. Even if it would be weird to have Orologia feeling this intensely about it.
But for Orologia...... it's looking at their son in the eyes, trying to hold back tears because they couldn't find a timeline to spare him from those horrors. Now he's doing better, but he had to go through unspeakable horrors, no matter how hard Orologia tried to spare him from it. Hell i suppose Logia was relieved when, in trying to keep Seofon in track by having him create the Eternals, they gave Seox a new home that could actually have him work through his guilt and have people who loves him dearly. At least Logia has to think about that.
but.... still. Logia is looking at their son in the eyes, a son who suffered so much because Logia couldn't be there to love him despite their best efforts... and they can't even hold him in his arms. Because Seox will never know how deep Orologia's love runs. He can't ever know about it. Because else the truth will have to be revealed and nothing will hurt either of them more.
Seox was Orologia's son, and now Orologia has to treat him like a stranger, because revealing it to him would be a hundred time worse.
I do think Seox shouldn't learn the details of the truth.
But it makes the whole thing even more tragic for a guy who's defined by how his parents abused him so hard that he snapped after they drugged him and he killed everyone in their clan, including children like him. The one kid who had spent his life yearning for a family who could love him, closing himself out of the affection of others because of the depth of his sins.... and he'll never know that in front of him, there is a parent who loved him so, so deeply, who tried to spare him this fate.
Seox will never know the depth of the love, because he did not experience it, so he will not be able to process how big Orologia's sacrifice actually was.
Ignorance is best for Seox. But it comes with never telling him he had a parent who loved him.
... But Orologia will always know. And they won't be able to tell their son how sorry they are. They can't hold him and tell him how much they wished things were different.
and that's an awful thing, isn't it?

Between Ladiva and Logia we sure have the best parents
oh my god we need them to meet asap
the dedication! the way they want to help so bad that they end up taking care of everyone in our surroundings as well! the way they both felt depressed by the way we've been abandonned by our parents! That they pushed themselves to their limits by wanting so bad to ease our pain! and how they both disregard their own health to help people around them!
Except that Ladiva works at a smaller scale and actually had people that could ground her back to the reality that she doesn't have to handle everything on her own. While Logia basically self isolated and then only went to Lu Woh to go "btw i'm going to die soon bc i tried too hard hope you kill me ok bye <3" and the dragons had to prevent their suicide attempt before being able to take care of them. Raduga Regular Team having to hear the woes of the 6 dragons in horrors and then sharing tips on how they help Ladiva out when she spirals, if it can help handling Logia once in a while.
(also funny how the other thing they have in common is having taken care of Seox at some point as well. Bonding over fussing over him when.)
I feel like we can have a NRNR2 where Logia joins the Raduga team to try to help out Ladiva (and using their power to try to make it easier to see all the different ways this could be going) and Ladiva has to remind Logia to take breaks and focus on themself while Logia, who probably already saw a few things about Ladiva in simulations and stuff, trying to uno-reverse it like "WELL. YOU TOO."
(like how Jamil and Ladiva's whole dynamic in NRNR is them constantly telling at each other "hey rely on me i'll be fine :)" "no YOU rely on me i'll be fine :)" "HOW ABOUT /YOU/ RELY ON ME I'LL BE FINE". except this time at least Ladiva should have learned her lesson.)
now i really want to see it, out of all the crewsmates we have, Ladiva is really the one Logia should meet. hey cygames do you hear us,

And You made me so sad bc it was amazing and beautiful but... I was so sad that we couldn't say fuck you to fate like that for Cosmos AND THEN GBF HEARD OUR PRAYERS AND GAVE HER A UNIT
KDJLFKLDJFKLDFJ
honestly i think it's what made And You so beautiful and terrifying though, bc anni events can kill their new characters so easily. Lucifer and Cosmos dying in their respective anni event made it extremely difficult to know if Logia was going to get out alive from it.
So i'm honestly glad they held off resurecting Cosmos until after And You. Because the fear, after what happened to Cosmos, was greater than anything ever.
god what a good event.

I like to imagine that last year's event with Cosmos especially strengthened Danchou's resolve to save Logia
Their friend Zooey risked her life and fought her parent
Danchou had to kill someone they knew was a good person and risk killing their friend as well
And when something similar was happening, not just it being their own pseudo parent, but someone who, from the bottom of their heart was trying to do the right thing by as many people as they could, they just couldn't do it again
They refused and changed fate
I agree btw that Gbf utilizes this super well with physically changing the interface, it really drives it home. Nice meta commentary on video games
God yeah i agree actually! totally!!!
Honestly it's good that therefore they waited so long to bring Cosmos back because therefore we really had to feel this loss and to feel how we were incapable to save her and therefore it makes us desperate to save Orologia again.
like i remember when the first part of And You came out, everyone was basically stressed out of their mind because "they killed Mom last year, they will kill Momdad this year will they", Cosmos's death impacted the fanbase so much so we were terrified for Orologia in that sense...
and it's another meta commentary in that sense that MC, too, was traumatized by Cosmos's loss, by losing a mother figure who has been watching over them and primals buddies for centuries, dying, that they wouldn't want this to happen to Logia this time.
And yeah. this time, they changed fate. This time, they didn't let the gameplay decide what was the only way to kill them.
It was just so damn cool i'm such a fan of what they did. so good.

i think it was a really missed opportunity for Orologia to have multiple forms (one for each of the "standard" skyfarer races, and all done more "correctly" compared to the other dragons to demonstrate that they're older and know what they're doing, with maybe one towards the end of the event that was more of a mishmash like the others just to demonstrate how they were falling apart?) and i like the idea in theory but yeah the human "masculine" Orologia just generally communicates their character way better in the design aspect
On a concept level yeah i think it would have been cool for Logia to have multiple forms by race as well as by gender, but i feel like it could have been a bit confusing to put into motion in the game, considering it would come with each version having a working design and their sprites and managing to equally divide time for them.
As much as the binary of f!Logia and m!Logia is a bit limiting compared to what they can do, i think it pulls more effectively its punches because you really have one Logia at the begining and one at the end (not to mention that the one you get is affected by your MC's gender), which anchors them as like... there's the parent's face and there's the stranger's face, but the stranger is just as much a parent as the one of the simulation yaknow?
And in the middle point where Logia goes back and forth between genders especially when they spiral, i think it would have been really difficult to pull it off effectively if Logia had more than two forms.
As for the mishmash, it could have worked, but yeah it should have commited for multiple version first and personally i think it wouldn't have hold up to scrutiny / would end up having the designs too spread out toward the event rather than trying to make us care for two steady ones with an equal-ish screentime.
The genderfluid idea and everything was fucking cool though and i do like the idea of having a different Logia depending on your settings, it was so fun to see people realize when the event came out that we didn't??? have the same screenshots??? for some scenes??? bc some people didn't see granblue_en mention that the gender of Logia would change depending on the settings.
(also i feel like it works wonder in actually having people stick to Logia being genderfluid because since you can't say "well they were a woman in the simulation but a man in real life so clearly they're actually a man!" because that's not true, that's not how it went, and that depends on your settings, you're forced to acknowledge Logia's fluidity, and that's something i think that is interesting for a gacha to enforce, like "no you're not ignoring this, face the genderweird parent >:(". it's a weird moment where the binary actually works to its advantage in term of how to execute it in a way the fanbase cannot hoop around it.)
But yeah, m!Logia's design is vastly superior. Probably also because it was made ways before f!Logia? m!Logia first appeared in Wamdus's FE, so it has been in the game for a while before And You and before we knew Logia was genderfluid to start with. I feel like F!Logia might have been a late-in-development addition to Logia's gimmicks and it may be why they sound less polished imo, and really more trying to "secure" the horny fanbase into caring for their new chara because the whole center of the anni will rest on if you like this chara or not and everything.
They mentioned in interviews that they are interested with eventually making alt for the dragons where they would switch genders and possibly race later on, like they teased with this:
Tumblr media
which would at least imply that even Logia could end up getting more forms eventually. I think they'll stick to the original designs as their "base forms" (and i'm sure Ewiyar will Refuse to try to toy around with other races. She remains a Cat.) but there's always a possibility to see more even if the event stuck to 2, so we may see in the future at least!
but yeah m!Logia best design, for sure. Hopefully one day we'll get to see more!

Am I allowed to say that while I love Logia infinitely, I definitely prefer the masc presenting design over the femme
Not that either is inherently better or worse, it's just my personal preference
you're kinder than i am, i'm totally on the "whoever designed F!Logia i just want to talk why the fuck did you think the boob cages were a great fucking idea"
I adore the fact Logia is genderfluid and race fluid as well, i like that the m!Logia is a human and in theory that f!Logia is non-human is cool.
But it goes back to how i personally really dislike the whole idea of the differences between m/f draph to start with, i dislike how it's a cheap way to sexualize your female characters. But for the most part i kinda grit through it because well, it is what it is, and it's a gacha, they also will rely on their horny fanbase, then so be it.
In theory if the draph didn't come with the hypersexualized design i would love that f!Logia is one since the horns do really look nice on them, and echo their dragon's form, and i find that really cool.
But god the F!Logia body really irks me and the design choices added to the draph body really just are bewildering to me.
Tumblr media
There is this desire in m!Logia's design to have them look sick, there's sorts of metal parts around the legs and arms that are supposed to be here to help them walk and move because Logia is supposed to be frail.
And i feel like on f!Logia they redirected those designs details on the boob cage and the corset and personally i really dislike it, and on the legs what was a sort of walking aid on m!Logia is just. sexy compressing boots?
Even the posture is different, m!Logia is hunching a bit forward, they're not standing straight, you really do have the feeling they're not exactly at the peak of their physical condition. f!Logia kinda redirects that on having Logia's head covered in bandage in a way that looks more messy than m!Logia, but otherwise their posture is pretty straight, and with the arms posture, it just puts her breasts and her thighs into focus, in a way that are not present at all on m!Logia.
I'm really seeing it in a Doylist VS Wastonian reasoning (Doylist = what the creators out of the universe had in mind // Wastonian = what the character's reasoning for things in universe are).
On a Doylist perspective, i find it cheap and lazy and there were better way to design the f!design. I'm glad they didn't chicken out of the concept of "since they are the personification of how the slightest details being changed in a timeline can change things drastically, then it makes sense their appearance reflect that if only by switching back and forth between different presentations, in race and gender". But i think it was the laziest possible f!Design that relied too much on sexualization, like they were scared their core women-attracted audience would tune out from the heartful parental story if they didn't make them sexy.
On a Wastonian reasoning. Look. If Orologia wants their female form to be a sexy woman with big boobs who am i to shame. i'll support my parent over any way they want to present themselves. And in the end, sure, i can find it fun that our canonically genderfluid character has such drastic different physical appearance.
But yeah. I prefer m!Logia form in general as well.
I do think that the voice work on both gender really elevate the characters by the end of it anyway and i get to care about Logia when they're in f!form too, it still gives me the impression both Logia are the same Logia, so it makes it easier.
but yeah f!Logia's design personally is something i have problem with. alas.
And my problem starts with the draph bodytype, but i love the horns, so if i was personally to work on redesigning it and keeping the draph body, i'd just personally change their clothes. Like just give them the same type of aesthetic than m!Logia rather than the bdsm gear i beg you. Momdad deserves better.

Orologia's theme just came on on YouTube and it got me thinking about how important that final fight is
Everyone (the Eternals) whose lives were made better by Orologia, fighting together to help them, even though they never asked for it. They never asked for anyone's help and were content to toil for eons without a thanks
Their child of a million timelines extending a hand and saying "I see you and I see what you've done for me. You've done so much for everyone and never thought about yourself once. But I'm not going to just let you sacrifice yourself here"
And then they use their powers, the powers that are the reason for all of this, really, to save their own parent from the brink of death
Just refusing to go with destiny. Love prevailing. Physically altering the course of destiny
It's so good
It's poetry
I started crying listening to the song and thinking about this
I will never be okay
Tumblr media
momdad..................
But same the song always bring back the memories of this final fight. And tbh i mostly always think about MC in particular because this is the focus of the event, how Logia wanted MC to have the happiest of life even though MC should by all account never know about how much Logia influenced their happiness.
But it's not just MC right... Everyone we know is allowed to a sort of happiness because Logia wanted the best life for them too. Because they were potential friends, because they were potential tragedies, because they just wanted to make sure they'll have a good future.
Especially Seox whom they had watched over in the simulations so many times too.... Trying to give them a happy life, having to accept that they will have to put this child through hell in order to make sure he'll have the happiest life possible down the line despite the grief and the guilt.
But everyone who's fighting Orologia during that fight, that Logia expects will kill them.... None of them are aware of just how hard Logia has been trying to have all of them have a happy life. None of them know how much Logia has loved them and wanted the best for them.
It could have been so easy for everyone involved to just see Orologia as a threat to the skyrealm that they needed to take down. Orologia wanted to keep them in ignorance so it would have been easy for them to do that.
But with the dragons explaining Orologia's situation, with MC probably having seen some of the simulation, they all saw this dragon on rampage and all thought, if we can stop it, if we can give them a happy ending, then so be it.
Orologia spent their life giving away and being a silent watcher to make sure everyone would have a happy ending, even if it meant they would die. Instead everyone, without even realizing the impact Orologia had on their lives, defied fate so that They would have a happy ending as well.
Orologia was saved by the love they had given silently.
And also and also thinking about how Orologia has a breakdown early in the event because MC keeps dying because they're "too kind", that they hold back from killing their enemies because Logia raised them with so much love MC holds back and shares happiness with them instead, and it's not enough to keep MC safe, and it's why Logia has to face they have to leave MC's life.... Only for MC to save Logia because they held back, because they wanted to share this happiness with Logia, because they were too kind. And instead of killing MC or Logia it saved both of them.
AND WHILE AT ITTTT the song is in dragon speech so it's already delicate for us to know the meaning BUT BY FUCKING GOD ONCE TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH
Tumblr media Tumblr media
irrationally messed up by the "Thank you, you of the present, hello, nice to meet you", the idea of this unconditional love they're already giving to this version of us they have never met of us, but that they already love anyway because it's us, and that they are happy they can meet us, for real, this time, outside of a simulation
Just defying Fate, and a Miracle was enough. And it's worth it. and i'm crying. God. Orologia......

I have been thinking about your post about how getting to know Orologia changes how we view Arulumaya's FE where she mentioned that Sandalphon's body count is significantly lower than expected
And you're right
It's a master class in reframing information based on learning more about a character, because yes, Orologia wouldn't just let people die, knowing it's Sandalphon's fate to join us and become our friend. They want to ease his guilt and ours and also would like to avoid unnecessary casualties
It may seem like a simple retcon, and maybe it was, but it's congruent with the characters and their motivations and that's what matters
We were iffy about it at first, because we didn't know Orologia and it just seemed like a way to take away the edge on Sandalphon, but now that we have met them and cried over them, it makes perfect sense
It's actually really well done
I don't usually like blatant retcons either, but in this case it makes sense for the characters and so I can accept it
RIGHT EXACTLY!!!
Like i really didn't like that retcon when it happened at the time, because it seemed too easy and really removed Sandalphon's edge like you said, but having already introduced that it was Orologia's doing means that once we got introduced to Orologia, it made so much sense.
And like, i don't know if they had planned Orologia's story to be the way it ended up being back when Arulu's FE came out. If they did, it's a masterclass at introducing a character because in the end something that could have been a cheap retcon ends up adding a lot of weight to their characterization. If it was the other way around and they wrote Orologia with in mind "what type of character would make sense to go out of their way to tell Arulumaya about it?", they found the perfect compromise that ends up genuinely make it work.
And yeah like, in retrospect, knowing what we know about Orologia, of course they would not have stood by iddly while a massacre that could be prevented if only by telling people to evacuate would happen. They knew it was an obligatory moment for all of us to go through, if anything they'd do anything they can to lessen the victims.
I'm honestly really impressed about that bc i've legit been mad at this retcon for years, but after "and you" i just can't be mad. Of course Orologia would do that. It wouldn't make any sense of Orologia didn't do that.
So like. Masterful retcon moment Granblue, i'm amazed.
Glad you felt the same way though, shows just how well it worked!

also also i was thinking, back when it was announced i was so mad at Arulumaya's Light FE for telling us that she had a vision from Orologia telling her to sound the alarm and evacuate the islands that were going to be targetted by Sandalphon's apocalypse summer, and i was super mad at it at the time because i kinda hate the idea of lessening Sandalphon's crimes and i think he's much more interesting with having to repent from having killed people than to suddenly retcon that everything went fine, actually
but now i'm thinking about it and
back in the days we haven't heard of Orologia then (it was actually our very first mention of them in the game), so it really was just a bit surprising and kinda the source of why it was annoying
but now we know who Orologia is and now that i think about it, with Orologia having spent their life looking through all the different possible future and trying to find the one that will allow our happiness and survival with as little pain for us and for the people we care about as possible....
it actually end up making a lot more sense and would actively be cruel if Orologia let Sandalphon do his massacre without doing anything to try to lessen the losses.
I hated this change in Arulu's FE but considering how important it is to Orologia's characterization and everything we know about them now... instead this info that used to make me angry is now making me incredibly sad because i just picture Orologia trying so so hard to help through this path they had chosen for us while having to watch the people we care about suffer as well.
Orologia...........

random fact on Logia's dragon form that you most likely know but not everyone does apparently (a friend of mine didn't notice), it's pose and part of it's anatomy and proportions are super close to bahamut for the whole "the closer you are to being a God the more you look like him"
ouhhhh
i did notice Logia's form looked a lot like Bahamut's, but i didn't really connect it to "the closer you are to being a God the more you look like him" thing :o that's so interesting!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
that's such a cool detail though!
thank you for sharing it along on here <3
