Sapphire calls Marrowgar "Gary" because ofc she does.
Marrowgar loves tiny Arthas girl child. He/They lets her call them Gary.
Arthas doesn't call Marrowgar that. Gary is not a very intimidating name for the guardian of his Citadel.

Content warning: Genshin Impact
Yes I know shut up I need to rant about this
Spoiler Warning for the end of the Natlan Archon Quests, if you care.
People are really out here saying that they should've fridged Mavuika so that they could compromise Capitano's entire story just to keep him around? Fandom is going to be true to its extremely sexist nature, I know, and truly my expectations for the Genshin fandom could not be lower, but WOW the lack of critical analysis skills is truly abysmal and somehow I'm disappointed. I didn't even know that was possible at this point.
Capitano's story was literally entirely about bringing peace to his dead soldiers in Natlan. This ending was set up well in advance, to the point where I literally saw it coming months ago. Just because it's a gacha game and Capitano had a unique design doesn't mean he was going to be playable, Signora proved that. And on the subject of Signora- yeah, I get it, Capitano is a hot guy with a sad backstory, ambiguous morals, and a badass design. People are going to like him. But I've never seen that same energy for Signora, and I wonder why that is? (Answer: It's sexism.) It was not "wasted potential" to kill of Capitano, it was not bad writing, it was literally basic setup and payoff.
And of course they're not going to kill of Mavuika, she's an Archon for fuck's sake. Yes, they killed of Focalors, and that was probably the most well-written storyline they've ever done, but it was good because of the misdirection. We thought Furina was the archon, but she wasn't, and they didn't kill off Furina at all- for narrative reasons, yes, but also because she's the main character of Fontaine and the center of all of the region's marketing. It would be an extremely dumb decision from a financial standpoint to invest the majority of the marketing budget for the entire region into one character and then kill them off, which is why they didn't do that, and you're an idiot if you think they should've. For multiple reasons.
I understand that people may not like Mavuika- that's fine, you're not obligated to; the idealistic, self-sacrificing leader woman has never exactly been an uncontroversial character archetype, I'm a Horizon: Zero Dawn fan and I know that from experience. (GET BEHIND ME ALOY I WILL DEFEND YOU UNTIL THE DAY I DIE.) Hell, I'm a Xenoblade Chronicles fan. (If you don't know about the widespread dislike (read: Hatred) of Melia Antiqua, god I wish I was you.) But whitewashing aside (Which is not a Mavuika issue but an issue with Genshin as a whole, and no I'm not ignoring it), Mavuika is not a bad character. Even the motorcycle isn't bad design. If you can believe that Xilonen can be a Roller Skating DJ, you can believe Mavuika has a motorcycle. If you can believe that the Fontaine Research Institute made a pair of extremely advanced Mek ice-dancer combat units and a gravity-manipulating ring-thing (seriously what is that boss), you can believe Mavuika has a motorcycle. If you can believe that Ayato drinks boba tea in his idle animations, you have no excuse for Mavuika's motorcycle breaking your suspension of disbelief. Boba tea was invented AFTER THE INVENTION OF THE MOTORCYCLE. (Boba tea was invented in the 1980s, the concept of the motorized bicycle dates back to the 1880s at least and what we would recognize as the modern motorcycle was in standard production during the First World War to be used by soldiers.) Just because it's fantasy doesn't mean it doesn't have technology. Historical context is important, and also, it's fiction and is not analogous to any specific real-world time setting, as evidenced by the outfits even in Mondstadt.
TL;DR, fandoms are sexist, Genshin fans are dumb and lack basic critical analysis skills, Capitano's death is a World of Warcraft reference (Bolvar Fordragon at the end of Icecrown Citadel, if you know you know), and Mavuika is hot as fuck. Fire Bayonetta can run me over with that dragon motorcycle any day.

I'm sorry but also I see you and we're trauma bonded now

Cleared Ex 1 tonight, had some mechanics I really enjoyed as a tank. <3 Was also the first time my husband and I co-tanked something difficult since we were raiding Icecrown Citadel a thousand years ago (he raided as a SAM last expansion), and that was fun too!

Chapter 4
In the depths of the Lower Citadel below Icecrown, Jaina was tense. Her hands clutched tightly at the fabric of her robes. Fear and anticipation consumed her, making her restless as she awaited updates from the brave champions battling the Lich King and his minions deep within the citadel. Varian's order for her to remain with the other leaders for backup made the wait unbearable. Hours had passed since they last received communication from the other group advancing to the Upper Reaches. Uneasiness churned in Jaina's stomach as she paced back and forth, checking with the healers for supplies. Her persistent inspections began to grate on the nerves of one healer, who grew increasingly irritated. Rather than bothering the healer again, Jaina scanned the room, observing her surroundings. Leaders from the Horde and the Alliance gathered around a table covered with citadel maps. They strategized intently. Jaina had left them some time ago, tired of their constant quarrels over trivial matters unrelated to the assault.

Okay I have been sitting on this story idea forever and there's no way I'm ever writing it so it's going here. God, I hope I haven't posted about this before.
A great friend Lao and I discussed for a long time a concept where, almost immediately after she triggers, Bonesaw gets summoned to Azeroth. An attempt by the Scourge to try and pull things from outside the Twisting Nether in Scholomance, the reasoning doesn't really matter too much. Six year old Riley finds herself killed and raised, thrown into the Scourge as just another expendable foot soldier.
For two years that's how she lives, a mindless zombie bowed to the will of the Lich King. And then Sylvanas' uprising happens. Freed from his control, she finds herself one of the thousands of Undead listless and lost, a child that is still overcome with the trauma of what she'd been put though. The Bonesaw persona is not so much a mask as a blanket, an act meant to keep her safe and hide from the horrors of her past.
She pledges herself to the Royal Apothecary Society. Within a year, she's made head of it.
She grows close to Sylvanas and some of the other Forsaken in the organization. Children are rare, most died young or were used in experiments, and so she really stands out. Her abominations and plagues are technological marvels and she grows closer to Sylvanas in a way the older woman would never admit is motherly.
Wrath of the Lich King happens. They invade Northrend and instead of Putress taking command, it's Riley. He still tries his double cross, but this time it fails and the plague that drops leaves the heroes of Azeroth undamaged, but injures the Lich King and sends him in retreat. Things play out as they did, the Windrunner sisters are at each others throats and Icecrown Citadel is breached. Except this time, Saurafang the younger doesn't fall. When he is set to die, Riley is there to save him, bringing him back to his unlife, but of his own free will. Sylvanas doesn't jump from Ice Crown this time either, imagining what it would do to Riley to lose two mothers in her life. The Valkyr join and the Forsaken settle into who they are as a race.
Except, Riley doesn't get better. The death of the Lich King was a pivotal moment for the Forsaken, but she doesn't recover in the same way so many others did. Because, the Lich King wasn't the one who originally broke her. That was Jack Slash and the scars of that never faded, they were simply hidden. Time marches on, she grows close to new recruits. Lillian Voss, the Dark Rangers, but she still isn't well mentally and it's getting worse.
And then Scholomance is emptied and they manage to find the portal that originally sent her here. And so, realizing what she needs to do to finally achieve peace, she brings a group together. Dranosh Saurafang, Lilian Voss, Dark Ranger Anya, Cerberus (her undead puppy) and Hack Job (her personal Abomination) head back through to Earth Bet to face the Slaughterhouse Nine.
And kill Jack Slash.

General Shao's "Axe of the Furious Crusader" reminds me so much of Garrosh Hellscream's cursed version of "Gorehowl" (Xal'atoh, Desecrated Image of Gorehowl) from the final stage of his boss fight in Siege of Orgrimmar. am I trippin' ;_;

Sapphire Menethil is not intimidated by the sight of Torghast, Tower of the Damned. It just looks like a *honestly warmer* version of Icecrown Citadel.
Spiked turrents, Dark metal walls, echoing screams of the tormented, and the over emcompassing aura of dread? The only differences is the tortured souls' lack of physical organic bodies which honestly makes the place smell a lot better. Winged angels of death, looming giant skull creatures? Spiked knights? The only difference is none of them are nice to her.
I mean even the Jailer doesn't scare her.
Jailer: *Looms over her*
Sapphire: Daddy?
Jailer: Do I LOOK like-

These pretty , petals were once abundant all over Lordaeron but now only grow in forsaken territory. Much like their namesake, they too have been forgotten by death & time.
Has your muse ever forgotten something that is or was important to them? Are they afraid of forgetting things like that ?
Being the Defender of her people was something she took pride in, being able to protect her homeland. When the Lich King brought ruination to Quel'thalas and her people, he violated her purpose and stripped her of her pride in everything she stood for. After finally breaking free from Ner'zhul's mind control and reclaiming her body, she gave the Forsaken another chance to fight and defend all they had once lived for.
But she slowly lost sight of that along the way, consumed by her vengeance against the Lich King and the Forsaken were merely considered as 'arrows in her quiver'. She had forgotten what it was to be her people's Defender.
She was reminded of that after her attempted suicide at the Icecrown Citadel when Arthas was slain and Bolvar taking his place. She had hoped she would see the light of Belore again, only to face the horrifying truth of what awaited her after death-- no matter what sacrifice she may make. She was reminded of her purpose with the Forsaken, and so she seized the opportunity by making a pact with the Val'kyr.
Yes, she is terrified of forgetting her purpose again, more so of the infinite darkness and losing control over herself but she hides that fear by defending the Forsaken and giving them a purpose they had also lost. She would continue to do so by doing whatever it takes for them to survive, even if it meant doing questionable things.
Survival is not so simple after all.
