Clowning Around

Hero grumbled, pulling on the jester costume. Of course Villain would choose to attack at a carnival. They couldn’t just leave it alone and let people enjoy themselves. Fine, whatever. It would’ve been nice if there was a magician’s costume, or an acrobat’s ensemble, but nooooo, there was only a clown outfit. Whatever, it would still work as a good disguise.

Villain was in the magician’s tent, having hypnotized the real magician and was now pulling mind tricks on the entire audience. Hero crept backstage, surveying the situation.

Hero came up behind Villain, shook their head, then honked their red clown nose. Some of the audience came out of the trance.

“Hey, your act is kind of dry, let me help you with that!”

They grabbed Villain and squirted water in their face from a flower on their jacket. Villain sputtered on the water, their concentration breaking. The rest of the audience snapped out of it, looking up at Hero.

“Sorry I’m late, I should’ve been here jester-day!” Hero declared.

Some of the audience chuckled.

“What the heck are you doing?” Villain whispered harshly.

“You don’t recognize me?” Hero pouted, “but looking at you is like looking in a mirror- a fun house mirror, but still!”

The audience burst into laughter.

“Hey, how many magicians does it take to screw in a lightbulb?” Hero asked.

Villain lunged, but Hero sidestepped them easily.

“Just one will do the trick!”

Another bout of laughter. Villain was getting more angry by the second. Hero formed two snowballs in their hands.

“Goodness, my dear magician, if Elsa were here, she’d tell you to let it go!”

Hero hurled the snowballs at Villain, who dodged them and grabbed a sword from a stand.

“You look sharp~!”

Hero stomped their foot, sending a trail of ice under Villain’s feet. They slipped and fell.

“You’re just a trip, aren’t you!?” Hero asked gleefully, “I think you need to chill out, though.”

Hero threw an ice beam at Villain, cementing their feet to the floor. They approached them with a clown nose in hand.

“Maybe the real magic was the laughs we had tonight, what do you think, folks?”

A round of applause and cheers. Hero smiled, bowing, then put the red ball on Villain’s nose. Inside was technology that would turn their powers against them. Villain’s struggles to get out of the ice started to die down as their eyes glazed over.

“You’ve been a great audience, truly you have!” Hero smiled, “please come back and see us again soon!”

Another round of applause. As the audience filed out, Hero released Villain from the floor and dragged them backstage. They took them out of the tent, where the authorities were waiting. They cuffed Villain and escorted them into a police car.

“Uh, where’s Hero?” one of the officers asked.

Hero took off their clown nose, then they took a makeup wipe and removed the face paint.

“It’s me, Jerry,” Hero said.

“Hero!? What are you doing in that getup?”

“Eh, just clowning around.”

Before the Ice Melts (Part 2)

Part 1

Be warned: overheating

The villain saw the first security guard coming running down the hallway towards them. The villain rubbed their shoulders and raised their fist in front of their face.“You! What are you doing here?” the security guard asked.

The villain waited until right as the security guard was about to catch them. Then they ducked out of reach and kicked her leg. The guard winced and hesitated for a half second. In that time, the villain grabbed her key card from her belt. They slipped it into the card reader and pushed themselves into the hero’s containment room. The door slammed in the security guard’s face, who banged on the door. More were on the way. There was very little time.

Heat overtook the villain. They already had the urge to take off their sweater. How bad must it be for the hero, who needed the cold? The villain turned around and ran over to their enemy. The hero’s eyes were closed. The villain feared the worst. They knelt down and reached for the hero’s pulse point on their wrist, slipping their fingers into the restraints holding them down. The hero was slick with sweat. The hero’s eyes snapped open and they looked down. They saw the villain and panic seeped into their drowsiness.

“What. . .what are you doing here?” the hero said, raspy.

The villain stood up. “I’m getting you out of here.”

The hero stared for a moment. “Really?”

The villain touched their cheek. “Of course.”

The villain took the guard’s card and tapped it to a handcuff. It popped open. They did the same with the other restraints and pulled the hero to their feet. The hero wobbled and wiped their face with the back of their hand.

“Uh, I’m kind of tired. . .” the hero said unsteadily. “Could you-” The villain didn’t hesitate and swept the hero up into their arms. The hero leaned their head against the villain’s chest. The villain opened the door--on the other side, several guards had just arrived. The villain rammed through them, and they began chasing the pair.

“Don’t go to the entrance,” the hero said. Guards will be everywhere. Go into 6803. There.”

The villain saw the door and ducked inside. They set the hero down. The hero reached out and locked the door. The lock glowed where the hero’s fingers had been.

“Good, they didn’t know.” the hero said.

The hero leaned against the door as guards banged on it.

“They can’t come in?” the villain said.

“I’ve locked it, and they don’t have access.” the hero slid to the ground and put their head in their hands.

Their face was still red. They seemed to be trying to absorb the cool metal against them.

“So, I know you’re recovering from being trapped in a very hot room,” the villain said. “But. . .why were you trapped in a very hot room?”

“I’m too dangerous and defiant for my bosses.” the hero said, voice muffled.

“Why? What did you do?” the villain said.

The hero sighed. “I wouldn’t use my powers to kill you.”

99% of what I read is angst but you know what my secret favorite fanfiction category is? Outsider POV. I love a good fic where we’re in the perspective of characters who have no idea what the fuck is going on and are stuck watching our MCs be absolutely ridiculous. I love every version of this trope. It could be mostly text based. It could be mostly social media based. As long as it checks the boxes? I’m all in. You don’t understand. I think the first one of these I read was with Sam and Dean Winchester as kids in school from the perspective of a guidance counselor. I have been ruined. I have read every fic I could find with the premise of SkyGem’s Retirement AU (Yuri On Ice). I read White Collar DC crossover fanfiction despite not knowing or caring about White Collar because I treat it like outsider POV fanfictions with a fun identity reveal element. My favorite My Hero Academia fanfiction of all time is entirely made up of social media bit and bobs (tumblr posts, twitter posts, text message chains, etc). I am currently reading a Carmen Sandiego fic like this and it is such a crack fic. It is so unserious. I can’t put it down. I am so hooked.

Im here from our convo on discord! Have fun, I can't wait! Villain with water powers, gets upset over something and storms off, hero is worried about them and follows after but by the time they catch up villain is already chilling at the bottom of the pool and maybe hero can't swim or something so they can't get villain's attention or maybe they don't want to disturb them until they calm down so they decide to simply wait for them to come out. Villain emerges a while later to find hero had fallen asleep on the floor next to the pool while waiting for them and feels bad but also loses all anger villain had for them seeing how much hero cares so villain tucks them into bed.

Calming Waters

The argument had been going on for some time.

“This is why we can’t have nice things!” Villain spat.

“What are you talking about!?” Hero countered, “I get hit one time and you’re calling it quits?”

“No, I’m calling it quits because you’re so reckless in everything you do, that I’m saving you more than I’m fighting you! I’m a villain! You see how that’s a problem, right!?”

“Villain-”

Villain held up a finger for silence, looking away from Hero in an attempt to collect themselves.

“No.” they said, “no more talking, no more arguing. I’m going to my quiet place, and you are not going to bother me.”

At that, Villain turned on their heel and stormed off. Hero bit their lip, debating whether to follow them. By the time they did decide to follow them, Villain was already at the bottom of their enormous pool- in the deep end no less, right where Hero couldn’t get to them. Hero’s ice powers made them particularly buoyant, to the point that if they tried to swim, they’d just float back up to the top. Convenient for a water-breathing Villain that wanted to be left alone.

So Hero did leave them alone. They sat on the ground for what felt like hours, the only sounds being the rustle of the trees and the steady stream of bubbles coming up from Villain’s spot on the pool floor. Occasionally, some birds would start chirping and a soothing summer breeze would blow by. All the quiet made Hero just want to close their eyes for a minute… yeah, just a minute…

Villain took a deep breath, then looked up to the surface. Judging by the orange light filtering through the water, the sun was starting to set. Hero had really riled them up this time. They were endearing, but so impulsive, always getting themselves into some kind of trouble that Villain inevitably had to get them out of. Why? Well, no one else was going to do it, and frankly, Villain cared about them, more than they wanted to admit. Villain took another deep breath and started to swim up to the surface, feeling much calmer now.

When their head broke above the surface, they were greeted by soft, gentle snores. Villain quietly climbed out of the pool and looked at Hero, their gaze softening at the sight. Hero had fallen asleep on the ground, half sitting up and half laying down. That couldn’t be comfortable. Villain tutted quietly, then used their powers to collect all the water that was clinging to them. They formed the droplets into a large ball and silently poured it back into the pool.

Villain picked Hero up in a bridal carry, and started to bring them inside the manor. Hero stirred a little in their sleep.

“Mm?”

“Shh,” Villain soothed, “go back to sleep.”

Hero didn’t need to be told twice. They settled back down into a peaceful slumber, just as Villain laid them down in their bed. They tucked them in under the covers, then tucked a strand of hair behind their ear. They drew the curtains shut and left the room, a bit of guilt bubbling up inside them, but it was accompanied by the warm feeling of affection. It was amazing what water could do.

Omg hiiii I have a request that I’ve been daydreaming and fantasizing about night for a couple of weeks 🧍‍♀️but I was wondering if you could do a fluff story of a villain who’s noticed their hero hasn’t shown up for the past few days and gets worried, they look everywhere but decide to just break into the hero base in a desperate act to find their hero, maybe they break in quietly and search for the hero or they go straight to the source and demand to know where hero is, either way they discover hero as been locked up because their powers are “too dangerous” and hero “can’t control them” (they have ice powers) when villain finds them in a cell they are strapped tightly to a chair in a room 100 degrees (or hotter idk) and because of their ice powers they are wayyy more sensitive to heat. So villain rescues them (maybe adding a gentle chin tilt and a “I’m going to get you out of here” from the villain)

Before the Ice Melts

Be warned: overheating

The villain watched the hero agency base from their hiding spot in the trees. It would be a quick drop-in, the villain told themselves. In and out. As a truck stopped in front of the intimidating metal gates, a guard stepped out from a booth to check their identification. The villain jumped out from their hiding spot and ran up next to the truck. They had turned invisible but still had to be careful to not kick up the dirt road in their wake. 

The villain leaned against the truck wall; they stared at the agency through the opening gates. Right in front of them was a flashing light. A motion sensor. The guard waved the truck through. The villain ran through as it slowly pulled in. The guard flicked the beeping motion sensor off without looking.

The villain ran to a door, entering with an employee who had the key card. They were in, but it was only a matter of time before someone looked at the heat sensor cameras and saw a problem. The lobby was huge and looked no different from that of a bank. There were no maps anywhere. Only the hero board knew where everything was in the building. Everyone else only knew what they needed to know.

How could they find the hero like this?

Normally, the villain couldn’t get rid of the hero if they tried. Always on the receiving end of their enemy’s ice powers. But for the past few weeks, the villain had been allowed to go about their evil business with no interruptions. Not even a replacement had been assigned. It was suspicious. And the villain needed answers.

There was a maze of hallways branching off from the lobby, behind an information desk where a young person sat, looking bored. As the villain got closer, they recognized her. It was the hero’s sidekick. She wasn’t qualified to fight the villain on her own yet--but she should at least be shadowing another hero right now.

The villain didn’t have a lot of time. They walked right up to the desk and turned visible. 

“Welcome to the hero agency, I’ll need to scan your identification to-” the sidekick looked up and gasped loudly.

The villain shushed her and looked around frantically. No one had noticed--they were all too busy to pay attention to a bothered secretary.

“Shut up!” the villain hissed, grabbing the sidekick’s collar. 

The sidekick put up her hands in surrender. “Okay, okay! Let go.” 

The villain reluctantly released her.

“What are you doing here? This is how you get arrested.” the sidekick said.

“You know why I’m here.” the villain snapped.

The sidekick bit her lip nervously. “All information regarding them is confidential now.”

“But you know.” the villain said. “There’s no way you wouldn’t do everything you could to find out.”

The sidekick paused, looking at the villain. Considering. Finally, she nodded.

“And I trust you will do everything you can to get them out?” she said. “Even if they turn you into an icicle for it?”

“I promise.” the villain said. 

“Okay. Go down hallway A6. Find room 7014.”

The villain smiled with relief. 

“Thanks. Stay out of trouble. You could get disappeared, knowing that.”

“You’re telling me to stay out of trouble?” The sidekick said.

“Touché.”

“Good luck.”

The villain turned themself invisible once more, and followed the crowd to the hall labelled A6 in bold, black letters. It was small, with doors on either side, going as far as the villain could see. The crowd thinned instantly as people walked through the first two doors. Peeking in, the villain saw they led to more hallways. A few more minutes and they were alone. The villain guessed the deeper you went, the more top-secret things became. 

They eventually reached a laser field. On the wall next to it, the text read, Rooms 7000-8000 A6. Present iris for scanning. On the one hand, the villain could just wait for someone to come by. On the other hand, the hero was so close. And it would be a few minutes before security could reach the area.

The villain stepped through the lasers.

A light above them started flashing. No alarm blared, though. No attention should be brought to this disruption. The villain ran down the corridor, checking the door numbers as they went. At last, they saw 7014 in front of them. There was a window above the villain’s head. They pushed themselves up to their tiptoes to see inside.

There was someone chained to a metal chair. The hero. They were leaning back against the chair, eyes closed. Their face had a reddish hue to it. Sweat dripped down their face and neck. Red light shone from the walls and ceiling. Heat waves distorted the villain’s view. 

The villain fell, horrified. The hero was a person of ice and snow. A being who never wore anything more than a long-sleeved shirt, even in snow up to their waist. It would take immense energy to counteract their natural cold to this degree. Next to the room was a screen attached to the wall. Above the hero’s information was the temperature. 45 degrees Celsius.

The villain could hear the distant footsteps of security coming. They didn’t care. The villain stepped back and rammed their shoulder into the door. They were getting the hero out.

You know what? I’m feelin’ a Prompt with the whole halfa family, all the clones and everything. 

See, Danny? He’s grown up, he’s moved out, started looking at colleges himself after spending a few years travelling and learning about himself without the threat of a ghost attack. 

He’s kept in touch with his friends, both living and dead, and ignores Vlad for the most part now that they’ve reached a truce of sorts, and honestly? He’s just living his life. 

But see, it’s kind of hard to figure out what college to pick, with his admittedly not-great choices. Look, he might have a new-ish ID but he’s still visibly not exactly human (though thankfully doesn’t have to worry about the GIW after a… summer activity that ended with several missing buildings) 

And most people he goes to? Finds him ‘too unsettling’ which excuse him?? How is he unsettling? He’s a twenty-five year old with six kids ranging from one to six! How is that “scary” huh? Ancients, and all this is making him use the cash he’s saved up over time. 

And then- as though all of this isn’t stressful enough and he’s not genuinely worried that he won’t have enough money to feed the kids if he goes to school- a hero nearly trips over Jordan and starts freaking out. He is so fucking done.

Hey! I want to ask this because you are big in the villain x hero whump area. Would you happen to know of the fic with the cryogenic hero whumpee who gets captured and tested on? Like wrapped in thermal tape and put it a tube, etc.

I don’t no, sorry!! When I looked up the tag “cryogenic whump” a couple snippets and stories came up, the main one being an avengers one with y/n?? But I doubt that’s it because it was hero whumpee, maybe search lab whump tag? Because the hero’s being tested on and experimented on?
