A winter fae, an elf like man who is quite tall in stature. He’s used to humans recoiling in his touch, to run away from his frosty embrace, but you. As his snowy aura circles you, you don’t flinch don’t look away. You smile at him and the beautiful snow that gently falls to your skin, kissing it before melting.

Now this fae man is made of flesh, so you wouldn’t be able to melt him physically, but you have somehow managed to melt his heart.

Ever since bumping into eachother he’s kept you cool and he’s kept you warm. He always says that you both were made for eachother and you were a divine gift sent to him by the gods.

He can get a bit… possessive, but can you blame him? His cute little human heater is his and his alone, right?

Definitely into temperature play, and if you’re not into it, you will be if you date him-

His icy fingers tailing down your sensitive body before delving into your entrance. In his other hand, warm honey. He pours some on your chest then licks it up with his cold tongue, over and over. He loves bringing you to the edge with this.

But also very very physicallly affectionate, he’s been so touch starved since everyone he knew hated being cold. And since you liked it…? He’s clinging to you all the time.

He also likes bathing together, although you may need to wear a wet suit, since being dry with him is fine, but in water, the boiling hot water instantly becomes an ice bath with him in. But you still indulge him from time to time.

Have been seeing some discussion again about tamlin being a good High Lord or not and I just have to remind everyone of one of the best little facts from acotar I never really seen mentioned.

"so now we have one here too..." Because of amarantha and Tamlin being just a good person he allowed anyfae from any court to come to spring. And because no one could really go back to their courts for their respective solstice celebrations, Tamlin made sure Spring Celebrated all of them

I just think that's such a cool fucking thing. That Tamlin cared for the people coming to spring for safety, and he made changes to help everyone feel comfortable and at home. He cares about the people who live in Spring, he cares so damn much :(((

I genuinely can never understand these posts. Nesta removed herself from the ic and chose to struggle ALONE. She didn’t want the ic in her life.

She deals with her trauma alone and doesn’t put it on anybody else. Why must it be the trauma olympics and only the people with “the greatest trauma” are allowed to be hurt?

Nesta calculates the ships needed for an evacuation, begs the mortal queens to help, begs Beron not to close his borders, and is willing to sacrifice herself to the king. How are any of these acts those of a self-absorbed person?

unpopular opinion but elain and nesta are not part of the inner circle. they all chose feyre. nesta alienated literally all of them, and just because she’s found her peace with some of them doesn’t make her an IC member. nesta chose her own IC, gwyn and emerie. she is not part of feyre’s IC.

elain has no friends.

that’s not a dig at elain it’s a fact. az isn’t a friend, he’s been turned in a love interest. she’s not friends with rhys or cass or mor or amren or the valkyries.

Hey so in ACOTAR, have we talked about it being kinda fucked up that there’s a class of people referred to by everyone, including the main characters and protagonists, as lower/lesser fae? Like half of these people used to be human and were extremely looked down on by fae but as soon as they’re turned high fae they’re cool with referring to people as literally inherently by birth genetically lesser than them?

Also the fact that it’s made clear they’re at best a serving class that do not hold positions of power? And humans used to be slaves but again once the human characters turn high fae there’s no issue from anyone at the idea of looking down on a group of people that are born second class citizens to serve the group in power, who are all easy to physically identify because high fae look human and low fae don’t?

Also to me, personally, if you give me a fantasy world and there’s one group who are unilaterally in power and look entirely human except for pointy ears and “they’re totally super hot you guys just trust me they look like humans but way hotter”

And there’s another group where everyone has unique actual fantasy character designs who are societal underdogs and that first group suppresses them and refers to their race of people as lower/lesser, I’m more interested in them than the ones who look human and have no effort ambiguous magic and think nothing of creating a genetics based caste system that they put themselves at the top of and maintain

I was surprised to hear that Ice Plague is a lesser read story from you! It’s one of my favorites and something I re-read often. I treasure that little family. I’ve never loved these particular characters more, they’re all my favorite versions of them. It’s such a beautiful and brilliantly plotted book!

Tbh I think there were a few things working against it:

It came at the end of an already long series and there's more drop off the longer a series goes for, because it can only keep the people reading it, and doesn't attract new readers (though it attracted a few who didn't like Gwyn/Augus!)

A lot of people just didn't want to leave Gwyn/Augus behind and/or didn't like Mosk/Eran (I learned my lesson there)

It was actually written a lot more like a book series because I was writing them with a view to publishing down the track, which means of the whole Fae Tales Verse series, The Ice Plague is the one most ready to go directly to paperback/hardback etc. But I actually think that style of like epic fantasy storytelling is a bit less compatible with AO3 serials.

I wrote less cliffhangers. I now write a lot more cliffhangers (for all people hate them, they just do create more connection to a story as long as they're breaks and it's not constant).

I still love The Ice Plague. At the time I got really disheartened with it, and then I reread it and I was like 'wait this is fucking good though???' - I also think this and the final epilogue give Gwyn and Augus the happiest ending they could ever hope for.

In terms of writing quality, it's the story I'd publish first in the Fae Tales Verse even if it's out of order. It was the thing that was like 'shit, I can do this, and I can do this pretty well actually.' But I didn't know that at the time, because I was watching like... every metric of engagement dwindling over the years.

I'm afraid of this happening again with Underline the Red and Underline the Silver, but...I'll just have to suck it up and figure it out if it does happen! And in the meantime, I don't regret writing those stories, I'm just sad that it all fell out the way that it did. There are some of us who really love TIP, and I toast to like all of you, because whether you found it during the series or after the series, it's kept me going! <333
