My orange side dreams (I've had 4)

A description of my multiple orange side dreams and some of my commentary on them.

The first one

I had this dream back in 2022. Logan was sitting in a closet looking into a mirror. But his reflection wasnt himself, it was Thomas with a scraggly beard, dirty grey hoodie, messy hair, etc. Logan was talking to him about backing off, the reflection was mocking him, and all of a sudden the reflection reaches out and pulls Logan into the mirror. He starts laughing evilly and takes on Logan's appearance, walking out of the mirror and out of the closet. The dream changes to me scrolling through the comment sections of youtube trying to look for theories about this video, when i find in the description for the video theres a single name: Julius.

What I find super funny about this dream was that, the original appearance is super similar to an old dark side OC I had before Remus was introduced. He represented procrastination.

The name Julius is also funny because I'm fairly certain my subconscious took it from the drink "orange Julius"

Also lmao me predicting Thomas having facial hair is wild, God damn 2022 Dazey.

The second one

Previously posted elsewhere on my tumblr, I'm basically copying and pasting the post here.

I had a dream that Thomas posted a sander sides video featuring Janus, Remus, and the orange side. The orange side had no defined appearance, he was constantly switching between looking like Patton, Virgil, and Logan.

Janus and Remus didn't like him. The orange side did things in the video that actually made REMUS feel disgusted. I wont describe how (info in the replies of the original post), but he was able to completely shut down other sides. He picked them off one by one and made them faint, disappear, etc...

You could tell by the end of the episode Janus was majorly unhappy but before he could do anything, the orange side rendered him unconscious and Thomas was left alone with him. The episode ended with the orange side laughing as the screen faded to black. The endcard featured Thomas announcing the next episode would come out in 2 years :) (ouch, the accuracy still hurts a bit)

The third one (short and sweet)

Orange side had this ability to influence other sides, like a temporary possession. He wore glasses, which let me tell you, I don't see many orange sides interpretations with glasses so this was just wild.

Despite the fact I know he wore glasses, he also didn't have a set appearance, like he was invisible. Similar to dream 2, he was constantly changing how he looked through this possession concept I brought up.

He was influencing Logan to lash out a lot. Weird huh *gestures vaguely to my complicated feelings to the wrath theory*

Different dream again, the final one

The orange side adopted the appearance and actions of my personal theory for what the orange side should be. Those who have read my orange side theories will already know what im about to say: He represented ignorance, his dark side animal was a bird (some sort of falcon or hawk), his name was Icarus. The entire dream (read: episode) was more or less about how the others fucking suck when it comes to addressing their issues. It felt like they were going in circles. Why did they have to constantly fight?

I've seen the arguments against my particular ignorance theory, saying it's basically just lying to yourself and we can't have two Deceits. But ignorance is more than just 'turning a blind eye.' It's purposefully ignoring new nformation to stay in a comfortable and familiar idea space. Most of the dream works from the angle of Logan not being listened to. The other sides ignorance is what makes Logan angry.

This means nothing but I feel like sharing. In this dream I got to meet Thomas and I asked him "so, Is the orange sides name icarus?" And he looked personally so offended that I guessed it.

Chapters 176 and 177

Abel’s motives are a bit difficult to discuss while I’m avoiding bringing up anything from the chapters after 177. This is going to be more like a collection of short, unrelated analyses. Not an essay. Sorry 'bout that!

Chapter 176 "His Motives"

I can’t remember Fushi ever using one of their forms’ full names as an alias like this. It's usually just "Joaan." They didn’t come up with it as an attempt to hide their identity either, because they ask Bon if they should have just said “Fushi” a few seconds later. Fushi is taking following in Yuuki’s footsteps literally, to the degree where they’re trying to be him. Put in another way... Fushi doesn't believe in their own ability to come to a peaceful resolution. They're imitating Yuuki because they've got more faith in him than they do in themselves.

Chapter 176 "His Motives"

If Fushi’s version of the doll is too light, then that means the machinery is too tiny and complicated for them to recreate. That machinery is what lets the doll move around. Putting those two thoughts together: if that machinery gets broken, Fushi won’t be able to fix it. If the doll's body gets destroyed, that's it. She doesn't get to come back like Fushi's other friends.

Chapter 176 "His Motives"

Tonari's complicated relationship with the adults in her life when she was a kid actually gives her interactions with Andy a lot of potential. On Jananda, she had to put on a mature act while manipulating others (capturing Pioran, forcing Fushi to fight in the tournament...). Her biggest worry after growing up is that she's just like the "dirty adults" she used to hate. And meanwhile we have Andy, who wants to be seen as an adult really badly. Tonari acknowledges him as a grown-up—or more like, she acknowledges that he wants to be a grown-up—so he starts liking her immediately. I wonder how this is gonna play out.

Chapter 177 "His Motives - Part 2"

It's that winged motorcycle helmet from Chapter 166! Looks like a fallen angel... or like Icarus. Completely antithetical to the ad that they starred in—they're supposed to represent freedom and limitless possibilities, but instead Kaibara confines them to the ground. Nice symbolism.

When I was rereading this chapter I noticed that Fushi turns into Shin whenever they need to carry someone, like how he wanted to carry his younger brother one last time.

When Fushi loses a form, they automatically turn into the closest thing. When they lost Yuuki they turned into his family/the occult club members. When they lost Shin they turned into Rean. They turned into Nand’s brother after losing Nand, and then Sander because he was also on Jananda. And then they rotate through the rest of Tonari’s friends. I've never noticed that pattern before, but it just goes to show how much of their power is based on memory. They can tell that something's missing, and they can remember what that thing is associated with, but they don't know who it is.

Chapter 177 "His Motives - Part 2"

What "Hanna" says about the doll being important leads into Fushi's memory of the first time they saw her. The final thing they remember is how happy the clones look when they're with the doll. Fushi feels like they broke their promise with Mizuha by failing to save her lookalikes, but the doll was there to fulfill that promise in their place.

I have always wrung with myself seeing orange as wrath or anger. Of course it would be what makes the most sense, considering Logans outburst.

But none of the sides actually represent feelings so why should this one?

And then I thought… if Logan is Logic, rationality, head based… then his counterpart could be…

OK I'M GUESSING YOU'RE WHO SENT THIS AND THATS FUNNY BC I ASSUMED IT WAS INTENTIONAL AND WAS JUST GONNA ANSWER IT ANYWAYS 😭

ANYWAYS UM so I first played Kid Icarus Uprising when I was 11, and what initially drawed me in was that I liked loud, goofy, funny, flamboyant characters. And still do!! I just really liked anything absurd and memeable (I probably made some mlg edits of him in my mind. Shudders.) Some of it might also be I always liked acting goofy but had some growing shyness from growing into preteen-ness, and so very confident characters appealed to me (that's still a big reason I like him I think, with the tempered "goofy" parts now also being shown through neurodivergent headcanoning & such.) That was also around when my biggest obsession was space instead of fish like it is now so the whole arc appealed to me there. But the other thing is that I was also really into stuff like the scarier episodes of Steven Universe and Gravity Falls and Regular Show and the crazy lore and bossfights in Kirby and such. So I was already hooked by that, then take the stuff that happens in chapter 17 with him turning on you then getting possessed and it just opened the adhd flood gates in my brain. I already was obsessed with Magolor from Kirby before that and this was kinda like an ultra enhanced version of that hyperfixation. I would be 12 and just fall asleep imagining what it was like for him being possessed that way, what happened behind the scenes, what kinds of scenarios could happen post-story? Like when you're a kid and find something horror-adjacent compelling you think about it all the time. Also like. Motions vaguely. Body horror. Hypermasculine character. 🏳️‍⚧️ and such.

The massiveness and unendingness of the hyperfixation is partly because I didn't know I had adhd and autism, so when the pandemic hit when I was 13 I was stuck sitting in bed and thinking about him all the time (including weird stuff I didn't particularly mean to and want to think about) and I thought that meant I was stupid and obsessed and couldn't stop, and it frustrated me a lot. Unironically I truly thought God and Jesus hated me because I thought about him too much and would sometimes unwillingly think "HEY YOU TWO LISTEN TO THIS LOOK AT MY THOUGHTS". I was normal and cool. I learned I wasn't evil only after. Places my head in my hands. the invasive thoughts episode of sanders sides. Yeagh. Because trying to push out thoughts on purpose often just works in opposite I came out of that and I legitimately believe there been very few days in my life that have gone by since where I haven't thought about him at least once. All of my neurons were mylenated with his jpegs. So my obsession with him now is at least partly he's just a cog in my brain now, but also when you think about a character so much you pick out a million potential things to like about him yk. Also a million things that make you rip bark off of trees and grow fangs and destroy things with psychic pulses but that's neither here nor there
