(I listened to Icarus by Bastille for this)

something about the song icarus by bastille. "icarus is flying too close to the sun, and icarus' life, it has only just begun" and there's a million ways to read that. or at least three. is it to say that he died too soon, before he'd even truly had a chance to live? is it to say that his whole life had been the journey of flying too close to the sun, that the narrative only spells doom for him, that his very nature brings him too close to the sun before his story has even began? or does it mean that icarus' journey to the sun was what made his legacy remain, that the only reason he still exists in so prominently is that, in becoming a tragedy, he became a legend, and when he became a legend, he lived beyond himself, lives on in our myths and our fables and our cautionary tales— and that his flight was the first step on the path to the life his story would take beyond him, that flying too close to the sun was only the beginning of his greater existence?
