Happy Halloween! I do enjoy trivia of many types, but one of my favorite genres is what I call the Berenstein Timeline: unmade shows and movies, versions of classic movies where studios and producers made different decisions, some better, some much worse. All of these are real projects that were, on some level, considered (there are some recurring names)
"Heat Vision & Jack", a 90s pastiche of 70s-80s action shows starring Jack Black as an astronaut on the run from the law and Owen Wilson as his talking motorcycle
"Jurassic Park" directed by Tim Burton with Johnny Depp as Alan Grant, Jim Carrey as Ian Malcolm, and Vincent Price as John Hammond
the 90s "Batman" directed by Ivan Reitman; Bill Murray and Eddie Murphy were going to star but couldn't decide which of them would be Batman and which would be Robin
Back in the 1970s the American network was getting good numbers showing heavily-edited reruns of "Monty Python's Flying Circus", so they tried to sell the Pythons on the next logical step: an animated Saturday morning cartoon
"Edward Scissorhands" still directed by Burton but starring Tom Cruise or maybe Michael Jackson
"Return of the Jedi" directed by David Lynch; Harrison Ford was considering not coming back for the third movie and so when he came out of the carbonite there was a chance he would have been Christopher Walken
Guillermo del Toro's "At the Mountains of Madness". Also "the Hobbit" and lots of other things, he seems to have a lot of unmade projects
the 2010s "Star Trek" movie directed by Quentin Tarantino, where the edgy reboot crew visits the Gangster Planet from that one stupid episode of the original series
Everybody knows about the unmade "Superman Lives" starring Nicolas Cage in the title role, but did you know it was going to be directed by Tim Burton and include Christopher Walken as Brainiac, who would have been a green head on spider legs
Harold Ramis didn't particularly want to act on camera, so when they were casting "Ghostbusters" Egon could have been Christopher Walken, Christopher Lloyd, Jeff Goldblum, or John Lithgow. Supposedly the movie was originally intended to be a relatively serious exploration of Dan Akroyd's very real interest in paranormal investigation, although this clashes a bit with the fact that Peter Venkman was originally going to be played by John Belushi and Winston Zeddmore was written for Eddie Murphy who backed out when the character's backstory and most of his lines were cut
John Waters' animated series "Uncle John" on 90s MTV
the original version of "Bill & Ted's Time Van" starring Pauly Shore and Sean Penn
"Red Dragon" (the original Hannibal Lecter novel) directed by David Lynch starring John Lithgow as Hannibal Lecter and Mel Gibson as Will Graham
the 1970s "Dr. Strange" TV series
the 1990s Disney animated "John Carter of Mars"
the 1990s Warner Bros animated "King Tut" musical with songs by Prince
the serious horror version of "Beetlejuice"
Drew Barrymore's 2000s remake of "Barbarella"
the Dungeons & Dragons movie James Cameron was going to make until TSR left the table over merchandising disputes, forcing Cameron to go work on some dumb movie about the Titanic
American "Doctor Who" movie starring Michael Jackson
Canadian "Doctor Who" cartoon by Nelvana starring a Doctor based intensely off of either Jeff Goldblum or Christopher Lloyd
"Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" directed by Terry Gilliam
"Good Omens" directed by Terry Gilliam and starring Johnny Depp and Robin Williams
"The Black Cauldron" using character and background designs by Nightmare-era Tim Burton

Get ready, this post'll be a doozy! Since it'll be long, it'll be under the cut! More will probably be added eventually as I go through more blogs/play more games, and maybe one day I'll get through the enormous backlog of art I've gotten myself into.
TT u TT
Also, some of these vary on lore and some vary on au, I like to think of a lot of scenarios for both writing and rp purposes and sometimes ships just happen, lol!
Here we go!

Hot Killer Babes (VERY NEW -thanks Lily lol)
Si x Diva
Si x Eddie (?) (Si would have a hard time with the whole enemies to lovers souly for the fact that Si would see that Eddie didn’t like him, try and avoid him as much as possible and get the project done asap, then realize that Diva and Eddie were twins and curse the world for his luck in having to hang out with Eddie more just for Diva and because he has a hard time telling people no without a good excuse lol. Getting past that, I think they could be cute, but Si wouldn’t believe Eddie at first if they got to the confession stage and would think it would be some sorta joke at first because rumors tend to spread that way and he’d think that Eddie was only hanging out with him for Diva’s sake.)

final destination characters and what movie/tv shows i think they would like
alex - the walking dead. has seen every single episode even though it’s been running for over a decade. says he could probably survive a zombie apocalypse. is the biggest glenn defender ever.
tod - community. 100%. when the movie got announced he went apeshit on twitter. he loves troy, has seen every episode at least twice, and actually liked the fourth season for some reason.
george - he doesn’t watch tv unless it’s like a sport. look at him. if he had to pick, brooklyn 99.
clear - shameless. she sat through all eleven seasons, would have watch parties with her friends, and liked to take notes on the psyche of the characters. she HATED frank with a passion and loved fiona. actually cried at both finales.
billy - my babysitters a vampire. claims it was his “childhood” and is still upset they ended it on a cliffhanger. rory def rubbed off on him growing up. he prefers the first season to the second but has seen each episode like a million times. will sing the theme song totally unprompted
carter - breaking bad. actually tried making meth cause he thought walter had the “right idea” with the money. is the kind of guy to retweet sigma male edits of the characters
terry - locke and key. watched it cause she thought the main villain was hot, and when he was a girl too she went crazy on twitter. live tweeted the second season, and will defend kinsey locke to no extent.
kimberly - first kill. clear or shania told her to watch it saying it was like a better version of twilight. (she loves twilight). she was on the front lines trying to keep the show from getting canceled. she has probably made an edit of caliette. she’s crazy like that.
rory - he also likes breaking bad, but he’s more into better call saul. saul goodman is HIM. literally so relatable and babygirl. he saw better call saul first, so when he showed up in s2 of brba he went APESHIT
eugene - abbott elementary because there is “finally” a REAL show about what it’s like to be a teacher. he also never gets into sitcoms so it was a shock for him that he liked it so much
nora - bones. she LOVES crime dramas on daytime television, and bones is no exception. she finds herself trying to figure out the twist every single episode. she also gets way too into the characters. (tim was explaining to her that bones was autistic coded and she went :o)
tim - kid LOOKS like henry danger, but i’m gonna say malcom in the middle. secretly wished for a big family growing up. alex told him that the father makes meth and since tim didn’t know about brba he was actively seeking out that plot line.
evan - literally anything with wrestling.
kat - the office. not in like, a “basic” way or anything but because she is a businesswoman and needs to feel included. she likes pam a lot. wanted dwight to die once. she got through about eight seasons before calling it quits.
wendy - i feel like she’s a house md fan??? idk why or how but it just makes sense to me i suppose. probably an rsl fan or something
kevin - okay unpopular opinion but i feel like he’s a huge fan of the will forte era on snl. he’s a will forte fan in general so he’s probably seen clone high, last man on earth and macgruber
ian - def a santa clarita diet fan. trust me when i say this man was having meltdowns on twitter when it got canceled. you have never seen him more passionate in his life!
erin - okay this is very unpopular and very out of character but she has a guilty pleasure show and that is dawsons creek. joey is her fave and she is Completely Normal about pacey + joey. her regular show is yellowjackets, however. god bless cannibalistic high schoolers
I got the Blu Ray edition of one of my favorites over the weekend, and I'm enjoying it now.
This image does it no justice.
Kenneth Branagh directs and stars in this version from the early 90s. It is one of my favorite films.
And it has my all time favorite instrumental soundtrack. Patrick Doyle created a masterpiece with this one. I bought the soundtrack recording on CD years ago. I know every note and it enhanced every frame of this film.
Some of the cast is surprising but they're all amazing in this:
Robert DeNiro, in a rare opportunity to *not* play "Robert DeNiro", gets two roles in this one; if you don't watch carefully you will miss the 1st one.
John Cleese, Elizabeth Bonham Carter, Tom Hulce, Ian Holm, and Aiden Quin are all in this.
It follows the book remarkably closely, including direct excerpts, particularly the lines of The Creation. Well, it follows the book very closely for about 3/4 of the film. Then it veera sharply and runs completely off the rails, and I don't care; I like the wild ending. It does nothing to harm the purpose of the narrative.
The aesthetic is (chef's kiss) Delicious! Great costume work, the mad science is also somewhat reasonably in-period, Victor's process for creating life is a fantastical Rube Goldberg machine including electric eels and accupuncture-inspired tech.
Strap in, snuggle with someone you love and give this a whirl! It never gets the love it deserves.
Queen Imelda Staunton (Best Leading Actress) and Salim Daw (Best Supporting Actor) were recognised for their respective performances as Queen Elizabeth II and Mohamed Al-Fayed.
In craft awards, Amy Roberts was nominated for Costume Design, Celia Haining for Editing and also the Sound Team for S5 making The Crown one of the frontrunners at the BAFTA TV awards 2023.
Vanessa Kirby won a Supporting Actress BAFTA for her performance as Princess Margaret in Season 2, and in the past Jared Harris, Claire Foy, John Lithgow, Josh O'Connor, Tobias Menzies and Helena Bonham Carter all received nods for the show.
Wishing the Season 5 nominees the best of (British!) luck at this year's awards. Winners will be announced on BBC one on 14th May.
–— ⠀*⠀⠀:⠀⠀SENTIMENTAL⠀!⠀⠀[ . . . ]⠀⠀is the debut extended play (ep) by south korean boy group, avos. it was released on digital platforms by south korean entertainment company, apricus culture on january 9, 2014.
the album was supported by two singles, "blues of sentiments", the title track, and "sidereum luscus (만약에)". commercially, it peaked at number two on the gaon album chart in south korea, and at number three on billboard's world albums chart in the united states. the album has sold over 875,000 copies as of june 2023. a limited edition version of the album was released in japan through ukiyo sounds in 2014.
the group amassed praise for their extensive participation in the making of the album, especially romeo and hwaseong who made their songwriting and production debuts under the pen-names, romeo and pluto respectively. with the tracks blues of sentiments, last night, sidereum luscus, and sweet being entirely written and produced by the members, their individual expression shone throughout the album, cementing their status as a self-producing group.
✶ . SECTION ONE : view tracklist.
﹙ 001. ﹚ — BLUES OF SENTIMENTS
﹙ 002. ﹚ — LAST NIGHT
﹙ 003. ﹚ — JUST US
﹙ 004. ﹚ — SIDEREUM LUSCUS
﹙ 005. ﹚ — SWEET
✶ . SECTION TWO : view physical album.
there is only one version of sentimental including a physical copy of the album, one group poster, two random photocards, one random sticker, and an official photobook (features 51 photos).
✶ . SECTION THREE : view styling.
they leaned into the "boy next door" image heavy during this era. it was kind of chosen as an attempt to separate them from the rocky/cutthroat personalities they developed on their survival show. it was a lot of matchy-matchy uniforms and denim and cotton combinations.
✶ . SECTION FOUR : view era highlights.
1. very cute album to debut with. everyone thought they were going with a dark/boy crush concept and they went the complete opposite way! love that. korea was very on the fence about it. it debuted in a great position, made some noise for the first two weeks, and then disappeared from the charts.
2. they were shy this era. so shy that hwaseong actually cried halfway through their first performance. regardless, their stages were a lot of fun, with very minimal choreography, just them messing around on stage for 3 and a half minutes. it was the worst decision apricus ever made bc by the end of the promotional period romeo was stressed!
3. avos is nothing if not consistent so of course ian and hwaseong still couldn’t stand each other. so much so that they got into a mini-scandal so apricus sent them on a damage control outing to pretend they were friends. didn’t work but it was a nice attempt.
4. very solid album musically. it showcased avos’ strong suits: minimal production & rhythmic raps. one of their more R&B-heavy albums so naturally it’s a fan favorite. their voices sound very different now so it’s a good place to see their musical progression.
5. seeing how involved the boys were with the album, they didn’t feel much for the album. sanghyuk & carter weren’t convinced that the idol life was for them, hwaseong and ian weren’t that emotionally invested in the album, and romeo was working overtime writing and producing 3/4 of the album by himself.
6. the whole thing was written, recorded, and released within two weeks. it shows because of how exhausted they were the entire era. "never again", except it happened three other times. they work best under pressure i promise.
