Chapter 15 - Series Masterlist - Navigation - Chapter 17
You weren’t home, you knew it before you opened your eyes. The air smelt cleaner and felt fresher. The only time you felt that unfamiliar feeling was when you were living in Tannyhill, your heart pounded through your ears as you woke with a start. Not Tannyhill- this place was completely new to you.
Your eyes launched around the room in search of something you could recognize that would tell you where you are. Straight across from you on a bamboo couch similar to yours was Sarah. She was still out cold with a white fluffy blanket covering her and pillows surrounding her. Topper had walked in with two trays, both with orange juice and breakfast.
“Morning,” He smiled at you and you couldn’t process the kindness in his tone. You accepted the tray he handed to you with an awkward smile of your own and observed as Sarah stirred from her sleep.
Now that you were alert you popped a grape into your mouth as you thought of what you would have to do to get back to the cut.
Like you, Sarah looked at her surroundings and paused as she locked eyes with you, you shrugged as you took a bite of the toast on your plate. While you were anxious to go get back to the Pogues, you weren’t going to deny a good breakfast. Your stomach growled as you fed it, you couldn’t remember the last time you ate.
“Hey,” Topper greeted her softly. “How are you feeling?”
“What time is it?” She asked.
“I don’t know,” He confessed. “Why?”
“We need to go,” She made a move to get up and you were ready to follow her lead but he protested.
He handed her the tray insisting she was safe. “You’re not going out there where your brother almost killed you. You’re safe here, just have a little food.”
You squinted at him, “You gonna hold us hostage here, Topper?”
“You’re free to go Y/n,” He gave you the same fake smile. “I’m more concerned about Sarah."
“What’s all this gonna cost me?” If you didn’t know any better you would think this was all an act. He might have saved you last night but the hospitality he extended to you was for show.
“That’s the thing with your Pogues isn’t it, always thinking someone's out to get you, I’m just tryna be a good guy here and show you what it is to be a decent hospitable human being. Seems like you guys don’t do that much out there on the cut.”
You groan and gave Sarah a disbelieving look, “Girl, you seriously went out with this guy?”
“Y/n,” She gestured with her eyes as a warning. You were both on his side of the island and he did bring you to whatever this place was, probably one of his many beach houses, and brought you both breakfast.
“Look, I appreciate all that you’re doing here but if you’re gonna come at me later bringing up all the ‘nice things’ that you did-”
He cut you off, “You’re with Sarah- for now at least- plus you almost died last night, it’s the least I can do besides the fact that I saved you last night.”
Topper was definitely going to hold it against you at a later date but the damage was done. He appeared to be satisfied with himself as he continued to dote on Sarah.
“Here’s a phone,” He handed to her a brand new sleek black iPhone. “So you can get a hold of me and I can get a hold of you, I just wanna make sure you’re safe.”
Sarah held the phone in her hands, admiring it. “Thank you, I haven’t had a phone since the storm.”
You sipped on your orange juice as you watched the exchange. Topper could clearly not express enough- how much he was still into her. He held her hand as he told her how worried he was and how glad he was to see her alive. A moment of silence between them had you clearing your throat to destroy the tension, there would be none of that in your presence.
You successfully brought him out of his daze as he rose from his spot on the foot of Sarah’s makeshift bed and said he was going to prepare his boat. Thankfully that meant you and Sarah didn’t have to form a whole escape plan to leave wherever you were in Figure eight.
Sarah watched as he left and you watched her in concern. You hoped that wouldn’t be a problem while John B is stuck in jail.
-
You could not be more anxious to get back to your people. There were too many things running through your head. Was JJ successful in John B’s breakout? Did he fail and end up in a cell right next to him? How was John B holding up? What were you going to do next? Rafe could have killed you last night.
You swear you were going crazy and if you heard Topper say one more cheesy line in an attempt to woo Sarah back, you were going to scream. Eventually, on the boat ride back to the Chateau all your witty remarks had withered away.
Normally humor was your go-to coping mechanism but it was a flop in this crowd. Jokes you knew would have killed with the Pogues, all wasted on Topper, you knew he thought they were funny but he was too prideful to laugh. Sarah would chuckle along with you but it was undeniable, this was a weird trio to be in and the energy just isn’t the same.
You were about to sigh for what would be your fifth time, but as you got closer to your destination you recognized four familiar heads of hair. You jumped out of your seat, “Is that John B?”
Sarah rushed forward, “John B!”
“You’re out!” You hop out of Topper boat and into the HMS, wrapping your arms around John B for a hug. “JJ you got him out!”
You smiled wide at the blond who you doubted with every second of his plan but he did it and you could not be happier. You tackle JJ in a hug where he was sitting, his arms instinctively embracing you back. When he pulled away he glanced at you and Topper in silent question, you mouthed to him laterand he nodded in understanding.
“Actually, they dropped all the charges,” John B responded with Sarah still clutching onto him. “I’m a free man.”
“Yeah, I’d love to take the credit for it but the plan went horribly wrong.” JJ readjusted his cap.
You side glanced at him and sat on the empty spot on the floor of the boat beside him, “And here I was wasting my hug on you.”
“Sarah, they’re coming after Rafe.” John B tells his girlfriend after releasing his hold on her.
You let out a breath, you weren’t sure if it was relief or a breath you were still holding in from last night, knowing he was still out there. “Good, he’s completely unhinged.”
JJ gives you a quizzical look but says nothing. He was the only one who knew of your history with Rafe, a history he wasn’t too happy about and he certainly was not gonna be happy when he finds out about what happened last night.
“He jumped me and Y/n last night,” Sarah confesses. “That’s why we didn’t come back.”
The breath you just let out came right back in from the sharp inhale you took. JJ from beside you sat quietly stuck in his own mind, you can practically hear his thoughts.
“Literally almost drowned his own sister, and yours. Thankfully, I got there just in time,” Topper spoke with a sincerity that you weren’t completely convinced. It was a jab at John B for not being there for his girlfriend and a bonus with you involved. Two people your brother cared about that Topper took care of while he was gone.
“I guess I owe you one, Topper.” John B forcefully drew out, refusing to look at the Kook as he said it.
“It’s all good, somebody had to rescue your little sister, right?” He scoffed with a slight wave of his hand, in a ‘don’t worry about it’ way. “Oh, and your girlfriend.”
JJ’s fist balled up the cap that he took off again. You kept quiet letting John B handle the shade Topper was throwing.
“That’s funny because she’s not actually my girlfriend, right?”
Topper chuckled, “Well, what is she then?”
John B looked at Sarah with an expectant smile, a hand on his hip waiting patiently for her to tell Topper that they took their relationship to a higher level. She glanced at John B and Topper and instead of saying what you were all waiting for her to confirm, she faces Topper and stuttered as she says, “I’m with him.”
That threw you off guard, your eyes widened a little as you caught Kie’s gaze, and she winced in your direction. Yikes, that was the only thought that was shared between you at that moment.
“Oh, you’re with him?” Topper gave a hearty laugh, he looked to you and your friends “You guys clear on that?”
“I think it’s clear you gotta go,” JJ said in John B’s defense.
Topper nodded, “Yeah, it’s about that time. Y/n, it was a pleasure, take it easy.”
You gave a curt nod with a tight smile, the last 24 hours were too much for you to deal with without you having to thank Topper for his services.
Sarah called out to the boy, hugged him, and thanked him. He held her back, staring directly at John B with a sly smile.
You knew he had to be pissed and you cringed into your hands. The drama truly did not stop with them.
~~~
You took the nicest nap when you and the others went back to the Chateau, home never felt so good. Your brother was free and out of jail. Your assailant was now being hunted by the police, it was safe to breathe now.
You roam around the house looking for any sign of life, checking the fridge last as if there was going to be anything other than beer and way past expired leftovers. You took the last can and walked out the screen door.
“What’s up, pretty boy?” You walk up to JJ who was lazily swinging himself on the hammock. He didn’t respond, simply tossing the empty beer can in the opposite direction.
“I almost die and this is the treatment I get?” You laugh off the awkward tension. “Tell me how the breakout went.”
He shrugged, “Didn’t go the way I planned, cops got roped in. Lucky Kie and Pope showed up in the nick of time.”
“So because I wasn't there when shit went down, I get knocked down your list of favorite people?”
“John B’s your brother Y/n, as much- more even than mine, and you chose to meet up with a Kook that tried to murder you, over him.” He placed both feet on the ground, sitting upright in the hammock.
“It’s not like that you know it!” Your voice rose. “That was the past, my bad for not wanting to go along with your risky ass plan and going with Sarah for backup.”
“Backup,” JJ scoffed. He pointed to your neck, “Look where that got you.”
You let your fingertips ghost over your throat where you felt the tenderness of where Rafe’s hands were last night. You hadn’t looked in a mirror yet but you could imagine there would be a sight of bruises.
Bitterness tanged your mouth, “Fuck you, Maybank.”
“No thanks, wouldn’t want Rafe’s leftovers.”
“How dare you?” Your voice wavered from the restraint it took to withhold your anger. “After everything, we’ve been through, JJ? How fucking dare you.” Everything implies the kiss, the stolen touches, and the silent embraces that alluded to there being something more than just years of comfortable friendship and loyalty.
“You left with Sarah for one night and you show up with Topper, not very Pogue of you, Princess.”
“Are you fucking serious?”
“Do I look like I'm joking?”
“JJ,” His name came out in a hurt whisper. He was fine when he left you at the Chateau, there were no words exchanged that told you he felt betrayed by you not joining him in his plans.
His face expressed the shame you didn’t doubt that he felt, you also knew that he wouldn’t apologize now. The words were out, what he felt at that moment was out and there was no taking it back, at least not right now.
Rafe’s leftovers.
What a dick. You wanted to question him about the night you found out about John B and Sarah, you spent the rest of the night in each other's arms, grieving. Did that mean nothing? Was that what he was thinking the day after? You slept in your bed, the same as you always had, with the exception of the kisses you would share in the dark. The morning after went the same as it had every sleepover and with no discussion of the affection you both expressed the night before.
There was never an appropriate time to talk about it, either one of you was drinking to the point of alcohol poisoning or the rest of the pogues were around, John B’s death hanging in the air. Whenever it was just the two of you, you were too afraid to bring it up knowing JJ ran away from any serious conversation about love.
Did he know you loved him?
Did you expect him to?
The comfort kisses had to mean something, JJ wouldn’t mess with your emotions if it wasn’t something but then again the altercation with the letter was still in the back of your head. Either way, his words were a punch to your gut and you didn’t know how to move on from this.
You were five feet apart, glaring at each other when his phone rang saving him from saying anything else on the matter.
“Yeah, hello?” He picked up and began to walk away in the direction of the dock.
You huffed with your arms crossed, staring up at the sky, hurting from the fight with your best friend.
“What?” You heard him in the distance. “Alright, alright, we’ll be there soon.”
He ran past you towards the open tool shed, you sped after him coming to a halt behind him. Pope and Kie were caught in a deep embrace, JJ’s arrival causing them to let go with his shouts of Pope’s name.
“Just got a call from Guffy, something happened to your pops,” JJ breathed out.
~~~
“Let me know if I’m hurting you,” You tell Heyward as you apply the square bandage made for oversized cuts onto the gash on his forehead.
“You’re doin’ just fine darlin’, thank you,” He winced as he assured you. You gave him a half smile and patted his shoulder when you finished. You settled beside Kiara on a wooden bench behind Heyward.
Heyward immediately began to explain what caused his injury to Pope and the rest of you.
“I should’ve known better, He came in just as I was about to lock up and caught me by surprise. Once he had me down, he put his knee in my chest, once he had me down he asked me about that key from that drawing you showed me.” He noticed the glances you were all giving each other, “In case y’all were wondering, I didn’t tell him anything. Now, did you track it down?”
Pope fished in his pocket and pulled out a thin long gold key with a red ribbon tied to its open circular top. “I found it in Mee-maw’s old apartment above the pharmacy just like you said.”
“Shit, boy, you should’ve given this to me. I wouldn’t have had to take a beating.” He told Pope with an annoyed tone. “What’s the big deal? It ain’t worth anything. Why do they want it so bad?”
“I don’t know,” Pope confesses. “First, I get this letter telling me that I need to go to Charleston, and then I meet this rich lady who wants me to give her a key that I didn’t know was in my family.”
“None of it makes any sense,” Kie says from beside you.
“Well, don’t y’all just sit here whining about it, Figure it out!” Heyward exclaimed but Pope shut him down telling him that he was just going to give Limberey the key and that it wasn’t worth losing his dad over it but Heyward cut him off. “Did I raise you to back down from a fight, boy?”
Pope shook his head, “No, sir.”
“I didn’t think about it before but now,” Pope’s dad pointed to his bandaged forehead. “I’m interested. “Did they say why they wanted it?”
“Something about an old cross, I think it might be some kind of lost treasure.”
“You know who you should talk to? Your great-grandmother, Mee-maw.” He hands the key back to Pope.
Now with the reassurance that Heyward was alright and the knowledge that Limberey and her bodyguard were hounding for the key, with Heyward's encouragement, you were all now in on the hunt for the missing pieces of the puzzle.
It was decided that the Pogues were going to accompany Pope on his mission but the ride in the Twinkie was quiet. John B was driving with JJ in the passenger seat, while you, Kie, Pope, and Sarah were in the back. The only sound coming from the slightly cracked window to let air in and the radio.
Eventually, Pope spoke up, mentioning something that Limberey slipped out unintentionally. “She said the key leads to the cross of Santo Domingo.”
“Are we supposed to know what that is?” You ask. JJ reached his arm out to Pope and asked to see the key, he handed it to him without thought.
“I’m guessing it’s some sort of historical artifact of great importance,” Pope responded.
“According to the interwebs, it was a gift from New Spain to the Spanish king.” Kie recited from Google.
“New Spain?” JJ interjected. “Is there an Old Spain?”
You rolled her eyes at him, not caring to hear a word from him. Kie flipped her phone to show you and the rest what the cross looks like from a picture off Wikipedia.
“Shit, talk about over-gifting, look at that thing.” The picture was of a person in armor next to the infamous cross with intricate detailing, Kie pulled her phone back and continued to read “It was widely considered, at the time, to be the most extravagant tribute ever from the provinces. It was lost off the coast of Bermuda in 1829.”
“Did you just say Bermuda?” JJ inquired.
“Not the triangle,” John B told him.
“It always leads back to the triangle, dude, like every single time something’s weird.” JJ insisted, “It’s Bermuda.”
“Okay but-” You ignore JJ focusing on Pope, “What does a key found above your Mee-maw’s pharmacy have to do with any of this?”
“I don’t know, That’s a good question.”
The sign to Shady Acres nursing home was in view, You, Kie, and JJ were already prepared to hop out of the car. With John B finally putting the car in park JJ opened the sliding door, you were the one closest to it both of you not daring to make contact, you let Pope pass over you and Kie who hovered over you until Pope told you all that he wanted to go in alone.
“Are you sure?” Kie asked.
“I can handle it, I don’t really need you,” Pope shrugged. Your eyes widened a little at the use of his words towards Kie.
“We’re just all one big happy family today, aren’t we?” JJ spouted sarcastically. Pope simply walked away, and Kie went back to her seat.
“You’re one to talk,” You murmured to yourself, not expecting to be heard but judging by the way JJ shot you a look before slamming the door to the back of the van, he did. Good, you thought, he deserved to know that you were angry.
John B drove off telling Pope that he’d pick him up in a bit and parked in front of a nearby Kildare Island corner store.
You and the girls decided to get something to drink- an excuse, really, to gossip about the boys. Once you were out of earshot the shit-talking began.
“Y/n wanna share with the class?” Kie filled her paper cup with soda as she gave you a knowing look.
“Hm?” You were walking around the shop looking for any chips you might want but found nothing, grabbing a cup from the stack and copying her movements. “What do you mean?”
“She means that little comment you made at JJ,” Sarah clarified. "What was up with that?"
You winced not feeling up to telling them the full story, you also thought that JJ was the only one that heard you. “He’s just being a bitch today and when he said that we weren’t being a happy family I just spoke my thoughts.”
“Which are?” Kie pushed.
“That JJ’s an asshole, Kie.” You deadpan.
“Ouch, calm down grumpy I’m only trying to let you vent,” She sighed. “The last thing I need is to be on someone else’s bad side.” You and Sarah give her inquisitory looks.
“Pope’s giving me the silent treatment for not being in love with him.”
The two of you, you and Sarah, Ahh'd at her in understanding. It was official now, Pope and Kie were a no-go. Part of you selfishly thought about how JJ no longer had an excuse not to go for Kiara and how much it made your stomach turn.
“Well, John B’s pouty because I didn’t tell Topper the ‘big news’ and because I thanked him.” Sarah shared.
“Yeah why did you do that?” asked Kie.
“He saved our lives, and I’d put him through so much already and you’d think that that is the crime of the century.” She expressed. You understood her, and you understood John B, at this point in your life. You were going to mind your business and let John B and Sarah figure it out for themselves.
“Tell me about it, all this crazy shit that’s been happening and JJ’s pissed because I ‘ditched’ him to help you out,” You point to Sarah as you three begin walking back to the van. “And came back with a kook, so apparently I’ve lost the privilege of being called a Pogue.”
“And we’re the dramatic ones,” Kie shook her head with a smile.
It was back to being silent when you three climbed back in and John B cruised back to the nursing home.
Pope exhaled as he sat down, “Shit just got way more personal.”
~~~
Turns out, Pope is a direct descendant of Denmark Tanny and his wife Cecilia. The six of you were outside of Heywards where all the fishing gear and coolers were when Pope filled you all in.
“Does that mean poopy is a royal?” You mused.
“A king?” John B played along.
“We shall crown him,” JJ grabbed an imaginary crown and ‘placed it’ on Pope’s head. “All hail the lord of Tannyhill. We are not worthy.”
The five of you bowed down to Pope in waves, he blushed and insisted you all stop so you did.
“Relocate the cat’s ass, question mark?” Sarah referred to the hot tub JJ bought with the money you both stole from Barry’s place.
“I’m with that,” JJ responded. “‘Cause I don’t have a place to stay.”
“How soon can we move in?” Kie asked, “‘Cause me neither, bunk beds?”
“Bunk beds,” JJ agreed and tapped his beer can with hers. “Cheers to that.”
No doubt JJ and Kie would be staying at the Chateau with you and John B, and Sarah too with all that’s been going on. In this scenario, John B and Sarah would be in his room, You and Kie in yours, and JJ in the pullout. Though you were mad at JJ, the thought of you and him not sharing a bed anymore was disappointing, it’s not like you and Kie never shared your room before but before John B came back you couldn’t lie and say that you didn’t get used to having JJ be the one next to you.
You continued to ignore JJ and asked Pope what he was thinking about since he hadn’t spoken in a while.
“I just keep thinking about the letter, the one that Limberey sent, it had the wheat symbol on it. That must mean it has something to do with the Royal Merchant.” Pope theorized, “But if we find that cross we can split it like we were gonna split the gold.”
“And live happily ever after?” The blonde woman with her cane and guard dog, holding up an umbrella, came from around the corner.
You tensed standing to the right Pope who was leaning on a faded wooden pole used to hold up the roof. JJ on his left and John B.
“You assaulted my father,” Pope confronted Limberey. The man who was always around her pushed him away from the lady.
“I didn’t assault anybody," She denied.
Kie spoke from her spot on top of two coolers stacked on each other, “He can identify the psycho from a mile away.”
“Why would my employee assault your father?” Limberey chuckled. “That’s absurd.”
You glanced to where John B and JJ were conspiring in silence, you knew the looks on their faces, though nobody else outside of your friend group would know they had something up their sleeve. You let them do their thing in fear of getting them caught because you were staring too long.
“Listen, we can keep on negotiating, but the fact is that I want the key-” Pope went for the woman but JJ went behind him to hold him back, and so did Limberey’s employee. “Until I have it, I don’t have a choice, which means you don’t either.”
John B then snuck out a key, though you weren’t sure if it was the real key or not, he held it up. “Is this what you’re looking for?”
“Yes, it is,” Limberey confirmed in her airy voice.
“Looking at the tide right now, I’d say it’s about 20 feet deep out there. So if I threw it in the channel, the probability of you finding it again is slim to none.” John B began to walk to the water, “You wanna give it a shot? Let’s see what happens, ready?”
He was hyping the maybe-fake key, and Limberey and her guard dog rushed for it. Pope looked at you in confusion, slipping his hand into his pocket and letting you peek at the key- the real one with the red ribbon. You smirked, not knowing how JJ and John B could have pulled it off but Limberey was falling for it.
John B’s arm stuttered in the air, stopping at Limbereys shouts to stop. “Get him to back the hell up.”
“Of course,” Her tone was sickly sweet as she turned her attention to the scruffy man, “Backup. As I have told you from the beginning, I am willing to be reasonable.”
“Okay,” Pope conceded. “But I want the tape.”
Pleasant surprise filtered through the woman's features, smiling “Of course.”
John B decided to play up the act, whispering but keeping the volume of his voice loud enough for the rest of you to hear. “You don’t have to do this, okay?”
“No, it’s okay.”
“This is your family.” Unintentionally, your gaze met JJ’s, it was almost instinct now for your eyes to meet his with unspoken words of amusement.
“It’s fine, it’s about your dad.” He held out his palm for John B to hand him the key. “That’s way more important.”
Hesitantly, John B gave it to him. You pursed your lips to hide your smile at how fooled Limberey was.
“The tape?” Pope asked.
“Yes, give him the tape,” Limberey told her man to give it to Pope. The moment the tape was in his hand, Limebery took the key in a quick exchange. “You know, I wish that you’d come to this decision earlier. We could have avoided all this unpleasantness.”
“How long do you think we have until she realizes she has your father’s old key?” JJ asks John B.
“10 minutes,” He shrugs.
“Whose idea was the fake key?” You pipe in curiously.
“Shockingly, not mine,” Kie states.
JJ scrunched his nose and leaned into John B who wrapped his arm around the blond, “Hm, I don’t know. Should we tell them?” John B pats JJ’s chest.
At the mention of it being JJ’s idea, you kept the pride you felt for him to yourself and let the others vocalize their praises.
With the tape officially in the Pogue's hands, you were all ready to go to the police station and hand it over to Shoupe. John B was in and out, as you all waited in the Twinkie. He walked out with a bright face you hadn’t seen on him in a while.
At the Chateau, you and the girls sat on the porch, huddled together on the old couch while the boys celebrated and cheered at the fact that Ward Cameron was now a criminal and would be arrested for his crimes.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, Ward Cameron is going to jail!” JJ’s excitement resounded throughout the Chateau and out the open window.
You and Kie smiled fondly, while Sarah’s face was crestfallen. You couldn’t blame her but you weren’t going to shut down any celebration of her dad’s new status.
“Do you regret it?” You ask her.
“No,” She says honestly. “He deserves all of it, and I know that.”
“He’s your dad, I get it,” Kie chimes in. “I’m sure it sucks to be in the middle.”
Sarah’s new phone rings and you had no doubt it was a phone call from the one who gifted it to her.
~~~
The police were on the streets were well on their way to Tannyhill, and so were you and the rest of the Pogues. John B sped through as fast as he could, you were sure if the cops hadn’t been otherwise preoccupied, he would have been stopped. The six of you peered over the concrete wall to the side of the Cameron's yard, where several cop cars were parked.
“Screw it, I’m going over,” John B braced his hands to hop the wall.
JJ planted himself, sitting on the wall to give the girls a boost, Kie went, then Sarah. When it got to you, you hesitated and you could tell he did too but you went for it anyway.
All of you successfully over the wall, you heard Wheezie asking why there were police there. Sarah jogged forward and hugged her, telling her to go inside. You all followed the sight of police officers on the dock, Ward Cameron’s yacht, floating on the water.
“Dad!” Sarah shouted. “What are you doing?”
“Sarah, what are you doing baby, you can’t be here!” Ward pulled a lever to lift the anchor.
“Dad, please don’t leave!”
Ward ignored her and entered the helm, and suddenly the world seemed to stop as ‘My Druthers’ had exploded.
Chills ran through your body in disbelief at what had just happened. You witnessed John B’s face processing, Sarah gasped, screaming her dad's name, reaching out for him she sunk to the ground sobbing. Topper had come from literally nowhere, holding her as she cried.
Your heart bled for Sarah but your terror was finally over, Ward is dead. The nightmare was over, it felt like you had the closure you needed to move on with your life.

iPhone 14 vs 16: A Look at the Expected Upgrades
iPhone 14 vs 16 Features
The features and upgrades that the two non-Pro iPhone 16 models are expected to deliver later in 2024 are the subject of more than a dozen distinct rumors that have been circulating for more than a year.
Since many consumers upgrade every two years, the features added to both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 will accumulate, even if the improvements that the iPhone 16 delivers over the iPhone 15 will probably be the focal point of Apple’s marketing approach later this year. Using data from a variety of trustworthy sources that they have already covered, the following list contains every difference that the iPhone 16 models are anticipated to have in comparison to their two immediate predecessors. As new rumors surface in the next months, they will update this post.
While the iPhone 14 vs 16 are the main subjects of this guide, you may read their other comparison post to find out how they believe the iPhone 14 Pro will outperform the iPhone 16 Pro.
Design
It is anticipated that the design of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus would mostly remain the same. The resulting iPhone 16, with its frosted glass back, vertical rear camera setup to aid in spatial video recording, and somewhat softened edges, will represent a reasonably substantial advancement over the iPhone 14. Other significant design changes are anticipated, such as the addition of a brand-new “Capture” button and the elimination of the mute switch in favor of the Action button that was added to the Pro versions of last year.

Cameras
The 48-megapixel camera of the iPhone 14 Pro was replaced by the iPhone 15, which marked a significant camera boost for Apple’s mainstream smartphone range. Along with many other enhancements including spatial video recording, the iPhone 16 is anticipated to represent a major camera improvement over the iPhone 14.

A more contemporary design including the Dynamic Island, a USB-C connector, and a 48-megapixel camera made the iPhone 15 a rather considerable advance from the iPhone 14 in 2023. These improvements will be furthered by the iPhone 16, which will come with the capturing and Action buttons, AI capabilities, and spatial video capturing. Many existing owners of the iPhone 14 will feel that upgrading to the iPhone 16 is beneficial, if not necessary, given the over thirty updates that are reportedly in the works.

6 Best Free Password Managers: A blog on the best free password managers available.
Working remotely has become regular for many of us, which means that it's more necessary than ever to safeguard your online accounts with strong passwords. But it may be challenging to learn dozens and dozens of passwords, and it's plain hazardous to use the same old password over and over. Suppose you find yourself regularly getting locked out of one online account or another because you're drawing a blank when you try to log in. In that case, it's time to consider a password manager, which can help you effortlessly supervise and handle all your login credentials. They're also helpful for auto-filling forms and synchronizing your data across Windows PCs and Macs, iPhones, iPads, Android phones and more. A password manager is simply an encrypted digital vault that saves safe password login information. You need to access applications and accounts on your mobile device, websites and other services. In addition to keeping your identity, credentials and sensitive data safe, the best password manager also features a password generator to create strong, unique passwords and guarantee you aren't using the same password in numerous locations. With all the recent security breaches and identity theft headlines, having a unique password for each place can go a long way to ensure that if one site is hacked, your stolen password can't be used on other sites. You're constructing your security feature. Plus, you don't have to remember the numerous bits of login information with a manager, such as shipping addresses and payment card information. With just one master password, or in certain circumstances a PIN or your fingerprint, you may autofill a form or password field. Some additionally include online storage and a secured vault for keeping data. All our top password manager selections come in free editions, which generally enable you securely save credentials for one device — but we can presently use our pick for the best free manager for syncing across many devices — and all support hardware authentication using YubiKey. Our top password manager selections also include subscription options that enable you to sync your safe password login information across devices, exchange credentials with trusted family and friends, and receive access to secure online storage. And if transparency is essential to you, some of our selections are open-source projects. We also look at what a password manager is and the basics of how to use one. Note that our editors separately pick these password management services. We'll be updating this story frequently as more choices become available. In light of our preferred choice's recent pricing adjustment, we may be rethinking the order soon and will update this post appropriately.
Bitwarden: Best free password manager
- Open-source, secure and transparent - Bitwarden may use the free version across unlimited devices. - Premium memberships start at $10 per year. - Works with: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iPhone and iPad. Browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Opera, Vivaldi, Brave and Tor. Bitwarden leads the list of the best password managers for 2021 owing to its open-source roots and its unmatched — and limitless — free version. This lean encryption program can generate, save and automatically fill your passwords across all of your devices and popular browsers — including Brave and Tor — with comparative security strength. Its free version lacks some of the bells and whistles of our other selections, but its premium editions are just as feature-rich. Like its closest rivals, a Bitwarden premium subscription lets you exchange passwords, logins, memberships, and other stuff with trusted family and friends, utilize multifactor authentication with YubiKey and get 1 GB of encrypted storage. Although it has fewer capabilities than the premium version, Bitwarden's free edition also provides a one-to-one messaging function called Bitwarden Send, allowing you to securely communicate login credentials with another person. Suppose you're searching for a user-friendly free service with a good security record. In that case, it's hard to pass up Bitwarden, which made it into CNET's Cheapskate Hall of Fame as the best free password manager. Plus, it includes a password-sharing option so you may share all your login details with another individual. For $10 a year, you may add 1GB of secured file storage. And for $12 a year, five family members or friends may share login information. Both membership packages come with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
LastPass: Best paid password manager
- Offers free version - Base pricing beyond free: $36 per year - Works with: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iPhone and iPad. Browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Edge and Opera. The free version of LastPass once made it stand out as the most exemplary password manager in this category by offering you the opportunity to save passwords, user login details and credentials and sync all of it anywhere you want across both your mobile devices or your browsers. And although you can now see and manage passwords across mobile and desktop devices, starting on March 16, you'll have to choose to utilize the free version for either mobile or desktop. That means if you pick mobile, you'll be able to access your LastPass account across your phones, tablets or smartwatches, but not on your laptop — until you upgrade to Premium, for $36 a year, or Families, for $48 a year. The Premium Edition of the password manager also allows you to share passwords, logins, memberships and other stuff with trusted family and friends, employ multifactor authentication with YubiKey and get 1 GB of secured storage. Meanwhile, the Families plan provides you with six individual accounts, shared folders and a dashboard for managing the family accounts and keeping an eye on your account's security. No, LastPass isn't flawless: A vulnerability privately revealed in September 2019 was a frightening issue that might expose credentials. But the business corrected it before it was found to be exploited in the wild. It was one of the numerous vulnerabilities that have been identified in LastPass over the years. More recently, though, privacy issues surfaced regarding LastPass's Android app when a privacy advocacy organization identified seven web trackers within the mobile app. In light of these privacy issues and LastPass's new limits on its free-tier service, we're now in the process of reevaluating LastPass's rating in our list of best password managers.
1Password: Best paid password manager for multiple platforms
Offers trial version Base price: $35.88 per year Works with: Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS, Android, iPhone and iPad. Browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and Opera. Suppose you're searching for a reliable password manager tool to keep your login information private and safe. In that case, 1Password is the most exemplary password manager for the purpose, enabling you to access your accounts and services with one master password. It's accessible for all leading gadget platforms. This attractively designed password manager lacks a free version, but you may check it out for 14 days before joining up. (Alas, that's down from the initial 30-day trial term.) Individual membership is $36 a year. It comes with 1GB of document storage and optional two-factor authentication using Yubikey for added protection. A trip mode allows you to remove your 1Password sensitive data from your device when you travel and then restore it with one easy click when you return. Hence, it's not subject to border inspections. On Macs, you can use Touch ID to unlock 1Password, and on iOS devices, you can use Face ID. For $60 a year, you can cover a family of five, sharing passwords, credit cards and everything else among the group using a single password management app. Each individual gets their vault, and it's easy to manage who you share information with and what they can do with it. You may also establish separate guest accounts for password sharing to exchange Wi-Fi connection credentials, for example, or home alarm codes with guests.
Other free and paid alternatives worth considering
Bitwarden, LastPass and 1Password are excellent, cheap (or free) password managers. In a straw poll of CNET employees, they were about neck-and-neck in usage. But suppose you discover none of our three suggested password managers works precisely as you desire. In that case, several additional applications are worth trying. These all have free versions available.
Dashlane
- Offers limited free version (50 passwords on one device) (50 passwords on one machine) - Base pricing beyond free: $59.88 per year - Works with: Windows, macOS, Android, iPhone and iPad. - Browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Edge and Opera. Dashlane offers an easy and safe method to manage your passwords and keep other login information saved. Just for organizing passwords, we like it as much as our choices. However, the free Dashlane app restricts you to one device and 50 passwords. The $60 Premium membership is comparable to options from 1Password and LastPass. The $120 Premium Plus yearly membership includes credit and ID-theft monitoring.
Keeper
- Offers limited free version (unlimited passwords on one device) (unlimited passwords on one machine) - Base pricing beyond free: $35 - Works with: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iPhone and iPad. - Browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Edge and Opera. Keeper is another safe password organizer that lets you manage login data on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS devices. A free version offers you unlimited password storage on one device. The step-up version costs $35 a year and allows you to sync passwords across numerous device choices. For about $45 a year, you can obtain 10GB of safe file storage.
KeePassXC
- It's free - Donations welcomed - Works with: Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS, Android, iPhone & iPad, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and Palm OS. Access through the web plus standard browser addons. (Except for the official Windows version, KeePass for other platforms are unofficial versions.) KeePass, another open-source software password organizer, began on Windows and has been adapted using the same code base to various platforms, including macOS, Android and iOS. On the positive side, it's completely free and supported by the Electronic Frontier Foundation. On the other hand, it's valid for sophisticated users only: Its user interface requires a little tweaking to make all the separately developed versions of KeePass function together.
Password manager fundamentals
Still, need more knowledge on what password managers are and why they're better than the alternatives? Read on.
How does a password manager work?
To begin started, a password manager will record the login and password you use when you first check in to a website or service. Then the next time you visit the website, it will autofill forms with your stored password login information. For those websites and services that don't enable automated filling, a password manager allows you to copy the password to paste into the password box. Suppose you're difficulty choosing a decent password. In that case, a manager may create a strong password for you and monitor that you aren't repeating it across different sites. And suppose you use more than one device. In that case, you want a manager that is accessible across all your devices and browsers so that you can access your passwords and login information — including credit card and shipping information — from anywhere via the manager app or its browser extension. Some offer safe storage so that you may keep other things too, such as papers or an electronic copy of your passport or will. Take note: Many password managers store the master password. It would help if you opened the manager locally and not on a distant server. Or, if it's on a server, it's encrypted and not readable by the business. This guarantees your account remains safe in case of a data breach. It also implies that if you forget your master password, there may not be a method to retrieve your account via the business. Because of it, a few password managers provide DIY kits to let you restore your account on your own. Worst-case scenario, you start over with a new password manager account and then reset and store passwords for all your accounts and applications.
What makes for a safe password?
When attempting to prevent a weak password, a decent password should be a lengthy string of capital and lowercase letters, numbers, punctuation and other nonalphanumeric characters — something that's tough for others to guess but a breeze for a password manager to keep track of. And to what you may have heard, if you choose a solid password or passphrase, you don't need to update it regularly. Can I use a web browser to handle my passwords and login information? You may use Chrome, Safari or Firefox to manage your passwords, addresses and other login info. You can even set up a master password to access your credentials inside a browser. And although utilizing an internet browser's password tool is better than not using a password keeper at all, you can't quickly access your passwords and other login data outside of the browser or share login knowledge with people you trust.
What about iCloud Keychain?
Through iCloud Keychain, you can access your Safari website usernames and passwords, credit card details and Wi-Fi network information from your Mac and iOS devices. It's lovely if you live in Apple's universe. But if you go outdoors and use a Windows or Android device or use the Google Chrome or Firefox browser, iCloud Keychain comes up short. ID700 for iPad reboots the 1987 Buchla 700 – FM, waveshaping, and polyphony (Hands on)
ID700 for iPad reboots the 1987 Buchla 700 – FM, waveshaping, and polyphony (Hands on) https://bit.ly/2PXWpGN
It was the once and future Buchla. But back in 1987, the Buchla 700 was so painfully ahead of its time that … well, its ideal moment is probably really now, right now, on your iPad. And so you’re in luck.
ID700 is beautiful, focused, and musical. The work of modosc designs in Berkeley, the iOS app is a labor of love by one Jonathan Schatz – a musician and developer who worked directly with Don Buchla on the 200e series. And it has the insane sonic possibilities of the original, thanks to 4 oscillators per voice * 12 voice = 48 oscillators, with wildly editable envelopes (15 per voice, for 180 envelopes) and modifiers.
The iPad app is based on the voice architecture of the Buchla 700, but not slavishly so – and there’s no muddled skeuomorphism, either, which is good, because the Buchla 700 itself looked pretty wonky. So instead you get a native touch app with the deep architecture of the 700. The touchplate-style keyboard is still there, as it should be – it’s fair to say that the touch experiments of Don Buchla are part of a lineage that ultimately influenced the invention of the iPhone and iPad.
But having everything in a visual, flow-diagram interface is perfect. It means you can touch and drag to change just about any parameter, for fine-tuning frequency modulation, waveshape and timbral controls, and modulation. The ID700 app is remarkably flat; I expected some tabbed affair, but instead, you get a massively powerful single screen where everything is at reach. It honestly puts a lot of software synths to shame, and if you didn’t know the Buchla connection, I really do think you’d assume this 1989 idea came from last week.
Basically, the notion is FM synthesis with waveshaping, now with the ability to choose one of 40 wave shapes or draw in your own, and then a ton of powerful envelopes. That’s it – a recipe for FM + waveshaping + envelope the heck out of the result. Add in MPE control and tuning support, and you get a pretty perfect live instrument.
Details from the developer:
AUv3 and IAA support on iOS
twelve voices of four operator FM with twelve unique algorithms
fourteen complex envelopes per voice
two hundred professionally designed presets
two waveshapers per voice
over forty factory wave shapes plus an editor for user created shapes
Scala scale file support with over four thousand included tunings from the Scala scale archive
MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) capability for MPE controllers like the Roli Seabord, Linnstrument, and Sensel Morph
I’m definitely working this into a live set, and the iPad seems an ideal place to run it – you can always just record into your host. But given the MPE support and plenty of controller options now, I’d love to see this in a macOS AUv3, too, and it sounds like that’s coming. (See the recent, excellent Model 15 and … well, if you got stuck with just this synth and that synth, you’d more or less never run out of options.
I’ll try to make more sound examples soon, but here’s an example with just one preset, showing how easy to navigate the UI is, including quick access to modulation sources and tons of draggable/touchable timbral details:
youtube
The original Buchla 700
You’d be forgiven for not knowing the Buchla 700 – mention of Buchla history usually covers the modulars and Music Easel and skips over this chapter. But it’s worth knowing. As Jonathan writes:
In 1987 Don Buchla released the Buchla 700 synthesizer. It was the next logical step from Don’s previous digital synths (the Buchla 400, Touché, Buchla 500) but was also influenced by the synth trends of the 1980’s, specifically FM synthesis and the all-in-one workstation concept. As usual, Don was ahead of the curve and the 700 never took off. Very few were sold and even fewer functioning units exist today. I always loved the sound of Don’s digital oscillators, and combined with the scarcity of the instrument it seemed like a fun project to recreate it in software and reintroduce its concepts to the world.
And it looked like this –
The creation was an analog/digital hybrid the likes of which we didn’t see again until the current generation – computer-based digital synthesis, with analog filtering, modifiers, and amps. (The analog bits are easily modeled on the iOS app.)
Inside was not one but four computers, including an 8-bit 6303 microcontroller that handled analog and digital conversion. The heart and soul was a 16-bit Motorola 68000 – yes, the same one you know from the Apple Macintosh (and Amiga, Atari ST, and whatnot). That is, in some sense the Buchla 700 was the first standalone computer-as-synth, long before custom solutions tried to cram machines into purpose-built music hardware.
Developer Lynx Crowe worked on the software.
And it has been a digital synth-lover’s haven – something others have tried to recreate (even if this app is by far the most accessible rendition). That means there are some great notes on how it’s put together:
Notes on the Buchla 700 audio synthesizer [gliftor]
Buchla 700 archeology [Johan Boberg]
And yeah, Aaron Lanterman of Georgia Tech made a version of it in SuperCollider, which is also a lot of fun both as a tour of both SC and with some ideas around 700-ish synthesis:
youtube
Basically, the 700’s time is now – as the world embraces polyphonic expression, rich polyphonic instruments with loads of envelopes, a combination of FM synthesis and waveshaping (because the world is more comfortable with the gnarly results), and the world of tuning beyond 12-TET.
700 on.

I saw that post that was about how many phones you’ve ever had, and the short answer is ‘10 plus a series of iPhones’, but I thought it might be more fun to actually list them and roughly when I had them because I’m just cool like that.
1. Nokia 5110 - 1999-ish. The OG, my first phone; I got a Saturday job when I was 15 just so I could buy this. There was no pay-as-you-go so I had to get put on my godmother’s contract and pay line rental. -_- It had changeable, press-on faceplates and *naturally* I had an X-Files one. 7p per text message smh
2. Nokia 3210 - I upgraded to this one about a year later (2000-2001ish) and it was honestly my fave of this Nokia generation of phones. I was in LOVE with this phone. And you could change the front AND back plates so I got a new X-Files cover ofc
3. Nokia 8310, 2002-ish - the smolest; made at a time when phones were getting tinier and tinier (hence the tiny cellphone joke in Zoolander) and I could not resist the tiny cuteness, even if the buttons were almost unusably small. I still have this phone in a drawer for some reason.
4. Nokia 3310 - the phone I got when I went to uni (2002). Unfortunately they didn’t make an X-Files cover RIP. Extremely Iconic™️; they even released a new version in 2017 for that nostalgic millennial who’s, like, doing a digital detox or whatever. I had this one for ages actually because i was unemployed and broke for about 2 years yay
5. Samsung SPH-A500 - *queen of my heart playing in the background* got this in around 2004/2005 (when i got a job) I think and oooooh my god I loved it to heckin pieces!! it was just such a nice design and having a flip phone then was Super Cool and it had a COLOUR screen good grief. Brilliant phone but god help you if you pressed the WAN button for internet, see you in 25 minutes when it’s finished loading, 6 pounds poorer. Sadly this lovely phone got pinched on a nightclub and I replaced it with...
6. Samsung S300 - very similar, bit smaller. I still have this one too, and it works perfectly! maybe 2006, I think.
7. Samsung E530 - awwww, I loved this phone. It was like my existing flip phone only smooth and sleek and *pink* and it even had a tinie mirror on the front for selfies which weren’t really a big thing yet. I had it for a few years until flip phones started to go out of vogue and slide phones became a thing, with Faster Internet and Touch-Sensitive Keys and such, so I upgraded to...
8. LG Chocolate, 2008ish - absolute garbage, terrible, so-called touch-sensitive buttons didn’t work, bleh. Very quickly changed it for:
9. Samsung U600. Better version of essentially the same thing. The other phone I still have. No idea if it still works ... it was fine but I didn’t love it like I did the flip phones.
10. Blackberry Curve - 2009ish I believe. In the pre-iPhone part of my life, this was just an absolute game-changer; the first phone I had that could properly access the internet and honestly, having a full physical keyboard was actually amazing (though you did have to put up with clickclickclickclickclickclick all the time). I remember writing long LJ entries at Dragoncon in 2009 on this bad lad, and this was also when I properly started using twitter because I could finally access it on the go. But as I was constantly carrying around both my Blackberry and my iPod, my next upgrade was inevitable.
11. iPhone 3GS - 2010 I think - 16 mighty GB. Honestly this iPhone was gorgeous, with its curved white back. It rocked a little when you put it down but that made it easier to pick up, and lovely to hold. (It would be a few more years until I could ditch the digital camera as it was still only 3MP, but STILL!)
And it’s been a series of iPhones since then; I upgrade every 2 years or so when my contract renews, so I’ve skipped a few models; I currently have the XR, which expires at the end of this year oooo how exciting.

🗽―[ danielle rose russell, twenty, cis female, she/her, ] oh my god, give me that! is it again [ annabelle chase ] on the cover? the article really can’t be more biased, they totally made the current graduate of [ constance billard ] seem [ + humble ] & [ + generous ], and let me tell you once everyone started talking about [ her break up with her long-term boyfriend ], she was totally [ - naive ] & [ - self deprecating ]. on top of that, on the last rooftop lounge party, the dj blasted [ Juliet by LMNT ] for her and everyone thought of [ the smell of freshly baked cookies, contemplative walks in the park, an iphone covered in decorative stickers, intros to old movies ] on the spot. let’s see if gossip girl has something to say about it!!
Hello everyone!! You can thank Chris for my presence here (i’m kidding i’m so humbled to be here with my friends and to make new ones too jfoaweghewig i stg i’m nice i’m just chaotic as HELL)
I’ve had this muse for a few years now and I’m absolutely in love with her and I just want the best for her so plz love her...
A N N A B E L L E :
Annabelle, more commonly known as “Belle”, considers herself the hay in the needle stack. She’s harmless most of the time and just wishes people were so FUCKING RUDE TO EACH OTHER.
Her dad is in the wine making business and is doing very well in that.
Her mom owns a franchise of baked goods called “Annabelles”. Of course, named after her beloved daughter.
Annabelles are exactly like Little Debbies Cakes, and an artistic drawing of her baby picture is on EVERY. SINGLE. BOX. They have Strawberry Shortcakes, Cookies and Cream Cakes, Raspberry Cake Rolls, Chocolate Chip Cookie Pies, Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Bars, and have recently gotten into the stuffed fruit pie category.
Yeah, there’s a reason she likes to be called Belle. She was picked on in middle school for it a lot.
Her parents split up when her father couldn’t handle her mother’s success.
Belle was 16 years old when she was in peak frustration. Puberty had hit her like a truck and she struggled to hold on to more than a few friends at a time because they all, eventually, decided they wanted to be bitches and she wasn’t down with that.
But then she started going out with Leo Hawthorne. He was sweet, he liked her a lot, he was pretty. She didn’t really need much else to go off of, so she went for it.
He was her first everything. She thought no one wanted to go out with the nice girl from the “Cake Family” until he came and showed her just how desirable she really is. She still doesn’t believe it, but oh well.
The major plus side of getting a boyfriend was that the tabloids were talking about something OTHER than her being a literal fetus.
However, after a while, Belle started picking things up from her mom’s recipes that she created for each cake. She started questioning things, playing with ingredients, until suddenly, she became a better chef than her mother.
Her father, however, wanted to tap into Belle’s talent and taught her about actually cooking, not just baking. It’s kinda been a war back and forth between her parents as to who’s gonna inherit her talents one day.
Belle wants to start her own restaurant, no franchising for now. She wants to go to school and do it properly and make something that has to bring her parents together.
So she’s in college right now studying art and culinary arts.
Meanwhile, Belle and Leo were dating for four fucking years. They were everyone’s favorite instagram couple until Belle shared the news that they decided to, respectfully, part ways.
While the internet cried over their break up, Belle had to hold her head up high. But she’s broken inside.
She trying to get out there and experiment; meet new guys just for the hell of it, give people a second chance, make new friends, strengthen her old friendships. She’s all about OTHER PEOPLE right now.
Her personality can be boiled down to, like, balloons at Disney World, early 2000′s songs, paint all over her hands, pastel macarons, flour covered hands, sarcastic comments, memes at 2am, silently correcting your grammar but looking visibly distressed.
POSSIBLE CONNECTIONS/PLOT IDEAS:
New friends
New friends she’s giving a second chance cause maybe they hated each other in high school
Old friends, long time friends, best friends
People who are trying to get her to party more
Opposites attract friendships
Soft friendships
Guys she’s experimenting with after her break up with Leo
People who crush on her that she feels bad about rejecting

So, to make it easy, the teacher made group chat on WhatsApp so that if anything inconvenient happened she will inform you guys through there. There's many students in there too but Donghyuck attracted your attention. You were the one who started the conversation with him.
He, in the first place actually dislike you for being too friendly with him and others. He used to hate you too. He hate you for nothing. He thought that you were friendly bitch of no where. Also he was being insecure because he afraid you might be a gold digger to dig all of his family's assets all away. But then, you've proven to him that you are an angel with pure heart so you just being kind towards him until he finally fell on you. Your first-sight crush finally fell on you.
You both lived in rich residents as your father is working as successful businessman while your mother is a successful lawyer in the city of Seoul. Then, both of his parents work in their own business that the profit so fucking higher than Trumph.
done throwback session.
[ Saturday, 1:37 a.m.]
You couldn't close your eyes yet as you already drove in long 9 hours sleep in the late evening. Then you woke at 9 p.m. It just after you woke up, you receive 16 missed calls from him andthe spamming chat is uncountable. Then, you guys been in an arguments which caused he was being mad while you were being sulking.
The clock showed it was almost 2 a.m. and you still cannot close your eyes. The feelings are coming. You want him. You want him to sing you to sleep with his angelic voice. You want his warmth body heated your body so you won't get cold while sleeping in air-conditioner.
then, with feeling guilty you tapped on the number on the light screen after that you pressed the phone on your left ear. hoping he would not be mad at your anymore.
after 30 seconds, he finally picked your call.
"what's the matter now. You disturb my sleep"
his words really hurt your feelings like he unwilingly to answer your phone call but he did anyway.
Donghyuck is not a person who sleep early actually. He's been an owl just want to make sure you are the one who get beauty sleep before him.
"I cannot sleep. will you come over? please ~" you begged him because this is the way for both of you to be peace once again. You need him.
you've heard he sighed.
"i've told you for countless time to not sleep in the late evening or else this will happen. Y/n , you really need good health."
that's why i'm asking you to come over so that my depression will be cured.
"okay. i won't disturb. just continue to sleep. sorry." you end the calls made decision to throw the phone away onto the hard floor.
you hate yourself like the way he used to hate you. you knew who you are. you know how annoying you are how much burden you gave to people surround you especially your family. and because of that, you less attention from them. that's why you need haechan. he's right person to be but not right for you.
You curled up while sitting while buried your face in your lap. Tears finally streaming down on your cheeks.
i hate me. i want to die so bad.
you felt sorry for Haechan to waste his time just for you. you give him nothing in return.
you've been crying so bad that make your body shaking while you mumbling all curse words about how bad you want to die.
Suddenly, you felt hands brushed your hairs from back. When you lifted your face, you saw your precious boyfriend right in front of you. your heart ache but in the same it healed when he pulled you into his arms.
"Haechan-ah~" you called him.
"yes, sweetheart" he replied while pat your back softly like you're a new born baby.
"you still mad at me ?" you broke the hug and faced him looked into his shining eyes.
"Sweetheart, we're good now. do not be overthinking , okay. You'll be fine." he pulled you into hug again then he sang you to sleep.
You fell asleep in his neck then, he changed the position. He laid you down carefully place your head on the soft pillow then he laid next to you.
" sleep tight, Lee's "
[Saturday, 6:40 a.m.]
At the time you woke up, you were left with his fresh cologne on your bed sheets. Your morning felt so good.
you pressed the circled button of your iPhone , then you noticed he leaved you mesage in your personal chatroom saying
'sweetheart, i'm going home. Have a great journey to your grandmother house. XOXO '- 5.35 a.m.
You got big smiled there. You changed the position to sit then after few minutes, you went into the bathroom to wash yourself.
Then, after you already settle up yourself, you went the downstairs and enter the kitchen to get breakfast.
then your 7 years old greeted you.
"hey y/n, i saw man walking out from your room when i want to go to toilet this morning."
you hurriedly cover your little sister's mouth before anybody in this house heard her wrods.
"shhh . don't tell mama"
"mama was with me."
loud of laugh then.
_________________________________________
The way to your grandmother's house was very tiring even you were not the one who drive the car but like you've been stopped at rest area so often plus the weather was very hot for you.
Once you arrived at your grandmother's house, you guys were greeted by the the maids. Then they lead you to the living room. There, finally you met your grandma.
"Heeeyyy ,Oh My granddaughters! Miss both of you so bad !"
Grandma opened her arms as she welcomed us to hug her so we running along until we got into her hug. She kissed our top of head also our cheeks.
"How you've been, Nana?" I asked her while sitting next to her on the couch that made by animal's skin.
"I'm great! I just missed you guys so so much!
Kyaa~ Haneul yah! Why don't you often bring them here? You also didn't always visit me. You know I've been so lonely after the death of your father! "
Mama fixed her hairbun prepared herself to answer Nana's question.
"I'm sorry, Ma. I'm just busy with all my clients-"
"Fuck your clients! Your mother is more important!"
"Ma, don't be like that. I promise you to visit you as often as needed after all of the cases settled up at the court."
"I don't care. I made decision."
"What decision, Nana? " I, hugged her right arms, looked into her eyes.
She looked at me for second then she turned to face mama back.
"I want both of my grandchild to stay with me"
My heart dropped down-
but my little sister cheered up as she like to be with nana just because nana fulfill her needs.
"Kyaa~" I pushed little bit her head bit getting scolded by my father.
"Park Jeannie!"
"Ma, but Jeannie would enter her university so soon. Also Jane gonna have her first homeschool session." My father suddenly exist in that situation.
"I insist. She can took over the chocolate company after she get her training months."
I saw fire in Nana's eyes. So did my parents too.
Yeah. Even they don't mind about me a lot but they seems won't lose me. like I stil need home cause it's not faraway from haechan.
"Nana-"
"Okay! Let's have our special meals!" She cut me deliberately.
"Yeaayyy. Nana did you make my favourite Sandwich?"
"Of course, honeybun! Now let's go all of you."
-
At night.
"Fuck. I hate this." You groaned alone on the bed thinking how you would be without seeing your boyfriend for not a single day also after you moved into your grandmother's house soon.
You looked up at the white flower decorated ceiling and that things still wandered in your mind.
You didn't get any phone call from him yet for today. He has been busy with his schedule of being an idol.
He always available at middle of the night.
You turned on the screen then got into your personal chatroom with him.
Babe, I have something to say. Really important.
Sent, 12:32 a.m.
You only got one tick from him. So you just decided to go to sleep even you didnt use to sleep at early bed.
[1:40 a.m.]
You can felt something was vibrating in your hand as you held your phone while you drove to sleep. That's make you woke up in the middle of the night.
Without seeing whose the caller, you answered just like that.
"Heelo sweetheart. Already asleep."
"I can't sleep unless I heard your voices, you know."
"Awwwwww~ so sweet talker."
"Shut up. How was your day during the show?"
"So tired but not full enjoyed."
The atmosphere suddenly turned into serious.
"Whyy babe, are you sick while performing?" You were afraid as he worked too hard just to present great performance to gis beloved fans.
"No. I'm not sick. I'm fine thank you."
"Then what?"
"I'm not enjoy it much as you're not here watching my performance with the members."
You dumbfounded.
"Are you serious, bang-chan?"
Bang-chan means side dishes in Korean.
"Hahahahahaha" you heard him laughed so loudly. You just brought that up again because you watched one of the vlive that Jeno called him Bang-chan when he introduced himself.
Then, you also laughed but not that as hard-core as him.
"Are you done, baby?" You asked him after you heard silent voices.
"N-no" his giggles still there.
"Hahahh, i want to see you so bad right now. But i cant As the network is not giving cooperation with me. So, yeah~ "
"So, you feel like you want to go home?" He asked.
"Yes of course. Home is everything." You looked out the glass window. Spontaneous thought came in.
"Am I your everything too?" He snapped you out by his question.
It took several seconds to reply that.
"Lee donghyuck, you are my last destiny after the world end its life."
"Wahh~" at the end of his word, his soothing voice made you melt.
"Go to sleep now , babe. You tired i know that."
"Love you 3000" you added.
"Love you for infinity numbers."
And that amde you laughed.
"Bye. Have a nice sleep, haechan."
"Okay ."
You end up the call. After that you directly close your eyes and drove to sleep.

How do you make the manga caps transparent?
oh, i have been waiting for this question.
before i start, i’d like to say that i make all of my transparents on my iPhone. my tool of choice? my finger, and the app ibispaint x. i’m sure there are quicker and better ways to make transparents (scratch that: i know there are quicker and better ways to make transparents), but this way is fun for me. feels a bit like i’m coloring a coloring book.
the tutorial is under the cut because i go into quite a bit of detail!
alright, here we go!!
(i blocked out everything in this image outside of the part that we actually care about, because this is a page from a recent chapter.)
STEP 1: alright, so we got a page from the manga with this adorable little shinsou, which we’re going to make transparent. ideally, get a page that has solid black lines, and that doesn’t have little stray fuzzy bits outside of the lines. otherwise your life just becomes a whole lot harder. the reason i prefer not to do earlier chapters is because the website that i use to get pages doesn’t have good quality images of the first hundred or so chapters, and i’m too lazy to find another website. so what we’re gonna wanna do is…
STEP 2: crop the manga page to the part you actually care about! you can also do this in the app that i’m going to use, but i just prefer to do with the photos app. nice and easy.
STEP 3: when you open ibispaint x, there’ll be three options, “my gallery”, “collection”, and “online gallery”. pick “my gallery”, and it’ll take you to a screen that looks something like what’s pictured above. click that fancy little plus button indicated in the image to start a new canvas!
STEP 4: the option you want to pick is import picture.
STEP 5: alright, there’s our shinsou! we’re just gonna click on him, pretty easy, right? also yes, i have an album on my phone dedicated solely to manga caps that i plan to make transparent.
STEP 6: the moment you click the image, it’ll take you to a canvas and ask if you want to extract the drawing. you’re going to hit “OK”, because extracting the drawing makes it so that all the white areas in the image become transparent, leaving only the black and grey.
NOTE: this won’t quite work properly if the background isn’t pure #ffffff white! if you are making a transparent from someone else’s manga cap, make sure that the manga cap has pure white values. if it does not, there will be a very light, barely detectable film of nearly transparent grey values, but it isn’t full transparency. this means if someone uses your transparent over something like…say, a solid colored background, the colored background will appear darker in the final image. there’s a way to get rid of this film, but it’s hard to explain, so please ask me if you want to know how to do this. heroacacaps is a very popular blog that editors get their manga caps from, but their images do not have a pure white background. (it’s kind of funny, i can often spot when someone made their transparents using a manga cap from heroacacaps.)
OPTIONAL STEP: if you are using ibispaint x for importing anything that you don’t want to make transparent, then 99% of the time, you are going to want to hit “cancel”. also, this ONLY works well for black and white images, and trying it on a colored image with make the image turn monochrome. you can still use it on some colored images with white backgrounds, but it you need a few extra steps to make it work (hint: clipping layers, if you know how to use those. duplicate the extracted layer until it is completely black without creating black values outside of the lines, and merge the layers down into one layer. clip the original image over this layer. ask me if you ever want me to go further into detail!)
STEP 7: once you hit “OK”, this will pop up!! if you are using a good image where the lines are solid black values, the default option will be perfect for you.
click the green checkmark once you’re satisfied with the appearance of the image!
OPTIONAL STEP: you can manipulate these numbers if you need to. i find this useful for making the lines on sketches clearer. increasing the black percentage makes middle grey values appear darker, and decreasing the white percentage makes middle grey values appear lighter. the white percentage cannot be lower than the black percentage. i’m…not quite sure how to explain what the middle percentage manipulates, but you can mess around with it and see what happens.
STEP 8: so we’ve got the image on the canvas, but now we have a bunch of stuff in the background. to get rid of it, hit the little brush icon, and click the eraser icon. if you’re not sure what the eraser icon looks like, the next image has an image of it in the location where the brush icon was.
next, just…use your finger (or a stylus if you’re fancy) and erase away all of that outside stuff!
OPTIONAL STEP: some manga caps require the extra step of drawing any parts that were covered by things like text bubbles and other characters. it’s sometimes the most tiring part of the whole process, and i can’t really tell you how to do it. you just have to experiment with the available tools. there are lots of brush options you can try to imitate the way the lines look, if you click the button to the right of the brush icon, and there are also (painful and tedious) ways to replicate more complicated textures. i often have to do this step which is why i have an entire goddamn tag dedicated to transparents i needed to patch up.
if there was only one reason i had to pick for why you should respect the people who give you manga caps without backgrounds for you to use in their edits, it’s because a lot of times, they patch up manga caps without any comment. some replicate the actual style so well that you’ll have never realized that the person you got the manga cap from added in their own bits. here’s an example. this transparent? it took an hour. just look at the original, and consider how many different areas are covered by text. imagine how many different textures and lines that have to be replicated.
STEP 9: alright! now we’re ready to actually make this sucker a proper transparent image. this image is actually just lines, and if you stop here, you’ll only have the outline of the image! what we’re going to have to do is take parts that we don’t want to be transparent, and color them white. unfortunately, this is the bulk of the work, most of the time. to do this while still keeping the outline intact, we’ll have to use layers. hit the button with the rectangles stacked on top of each other to open the layers menu.
STEP 10: hit the plus button to create a new layer, and make sure to move it underneath the layer with the manga cap. i actually like to make two layers, with the lowest one having a color that’s dark, but not too dark. this added layer makes it easier for me to see what i’m coloring, and i really recommend it. if you don’t do this, you’ll have to hit one of the checkerboard patterns next to the word “Background” located underneath the layers. ideally the darker one, it’s easier to see the white on it.
STEP 11: hit the eraser icon and click the brush icon again to be able to draw! and now, it’s just simple coloring. if you’ve ever used a coloring book, then this might evoke feelings of nostalgia within you, because this is basically just a glorified digital page of a coloring book.
i like to color the parts closest to the line first with a small brush size capable of getting in corners (use the little slider next to the text that says “4.8″ in the image to change the brush size). it’s not that helpful for a transparent as simple as this, but more complicated transparents with lots of corners to color make this step a blessing. or maybe that’s just me.
STEP 12: aaaaand finish coloring all of it, with a bigger brush size. if you colored near the lines first like i mentioned in the previous step, then this will feel a lot more like using a coloring book than the previous step.
STEP 13: alright! if you used a colored layer underneath to help you see the white, then you’re going to want to hit the little eye button on the colored layer to make it invisible. after all, we do want the image to be transparent.
STEP 14: next, there are three background options underneath the list of layers, next to the word “Background”. if you want your image to actually be transparent, do not pick the solid white option. pick either of the checkerboard options, both will give you a transparent image.
STEP 15: you’re done! now just to save the image. click the little arrow pointing left on the bottom right of the screen. this will exit you out of the canvas, and back to your gallery.
STEP 16: click the button indicated in the above image.
STEP 17: the above will pop up, click “photo (transparent png)” to save the image as a transparent image.
STEP 18: click save image!
and that’s it. you should have yourself one gorgeous transparent in your photos. i would probably suggest checking the image to make sure that it isn’t transparent in areas that you don’t want it to be.

A detailed review of the OnePlus 7T from :wired:
I TEST A lot of phones here at WIRED. Smartphones incrementally change each year, and they’ve become more of an essential utility and less of a source of the tech world’s greatest innovations. I often appreciate their new features, but few of those enhancements spark actual joy. The OnePlus 7T, however, has done just that. Putting down the glossy, fingerprint-plastered Galaxy Note10 to review the matte glass 7T was both a relief and a reminder why OnePlus has continued to gain popularity as a smartphone brand year after year.
Like the company's previous devices, the 7T is a phone that showcases much of the best smartphone tech introduced in 2019 at a $600 price—more than $100 cheaper than many top rivals from Samsung, LG, and other manufacturers. What I’ve come to appreciate more is how it uses all that latest tech to enhance my life, often by getting out of my way. Its touch interface is simple and looks just like the brand new Google Android 10 OS it runs on, only a little easier to navigate. It’s just more pleasant, like a PB&J sandwich where mom cut the crust off just because she loves you.
Smooth and Frosty
If you’ve seen an expensive smartphone in the last two years, you know what the 7T looks and feels like, but I’ll describe it anyway. It has a 6.5-inch AMOLED display (that means deeper blacks and richer colors) that takes up its entire front. A teenie teardrop cutout hanging from the top of the screen holds a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
Like the similar and more expensive OnePlus 7 Pro, this display has a 90 Hz refresh rate, which makes the entire interface noticeably smoother. OnePlus calls it a Fluid AMOLED display, and it may live up to that name. Phones have been bumping up the resolution (this one has a 1080p HD screen), but the bump in refresh rate is more noticeable. Everything feels smoother and faster, with richer color than many displays.
The power and volume buttons are in all the right places, and OnePlus has kept its sound/mute/vibrate switch on the right side. It’s a dead-simple little toggle and worth every millimeter of its cutout, letting you easily silence your phone or perk it up anytime.
OnePlus was one of the first companies to introduce an in-display fingerprint sensor, and the latest iteration on this phone is faster than ever. I’ve had trouble with Samsung's on-screen sensors in the Galaxy S10 and Note10, but the optical fingerprint reader in the 7T does the trick in a way that’s more convenient than the fingerprint sensors on the back of many phones like the Google Pixel 3A.
The phone's frame is metal, and the back is covered in shimmering Gorilla Glass because ... well ... trends. It’s silly that the back is made of glass at all, given that we probably drop our phones more than anything besides our keys, and there's no big advantage to the glass here since the 7T doesn’t have wireless charging. But the “glacier blue” color certainly is sleek, and the frosted texture repels fingerprints better than some phones. OnePlus thankfully includes a clear case in the box. I suggest you slip it on.
All Spec’d Out
Between all that glass is a list of luxury technical specs. The 7T runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor, which is half a tad speedier than the 855 on some earlier phones this year. It also comes with 8 gigabytes of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. (Sorry, no MicroSD slot; that’s all you get.) These are all fantastic numbers, as are the numbers you’ll see from benchmark performance tests. It’s a powerful phone, right up there with the best.
OnePlus doesn’t make a lot of changes to Android 10, but the changes it does make seem to (mostly) improve the phone's performance. You can more easily swipe up or down from anywhere on the homescreen to access the notification shade or pull up your entire list of apps. I also like the gesture controls that mimic recent iPhones, and the option to turn the back button into a swipe from the left side of the phone has worked well for me. Your mileage may vary, but you can disable these gestures controls and go back to a traditional back-button setup if you like.
The fact that the 7T even has the latest Google OS is a testament to the company’s focus on delivering software and security updates. It promises two years of updates for buyers of the 7T, and has demonstrated a positive track record on updates for older phones. This is notable—despite costing close to $1,000, most Android phones outside of Google’s Pixel line and Motorola's handsets do not get regular software updates, leaving security vulnerabilities exposed and new features out of reach.
With stereo speakers and a gaming mode that optimizes graphics (and can also restrict notifications and calls so you can play without interruption), this is an ideal machine for playing Mario Kart Tour, or any other high-end title, until your eyeballs fall out. Netflix looks lovely, as well.
I’ve ended most days having spent four or five hours with the screen active, and seen about 50 percent battery remaining. A few nights, it’s been closer to 30 to 40 percent, if I stay up late. This is good, but somewhat normal battery life. If you want to improve your power efficiency, you can turn the 90 Hz refresh rate down to a more normal 60 Hz. In a pinch, the included charger is very quick. It can juice the 7T up significantly in a half hour.
Sadly, like many high-end phones, there’s no audio jack (and no adapter in the box), but OnePlus sells an adapter for $13. And this phone also isn’t IP-rated for water resistance. OnePlus claims it will handle some rain pretty well, but you won’t want to drop it in the tub.
Ready to Zoom
When it comes to smartphones, you ain’t cool unless you have three rear cameras these days, and OnePlus always wants to be cool. Like the 7 Pro, it has a 48-megapixel standard rear shooter that outputs extra sharp 12-megapixel images, a 16-megapixel sensor beneath an ultrawide lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto. This lets you take shots that you can both zoom out a bit, and zoom in to 2X. There’s also a portrait mode, which adds a bokeh effect, the shallow depth-of-field trick that keeps the subject in focus but blurs the background in a close-up photo.
I had a great time shooting plenty of outdoor shots around Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the past week, and I've even enjoyed the extra stability of the Super Stable video mode, which uses the wide angle lens to better stabilize 1080p video; 4K 30 fps video is also available. Everything looks good, especially shots in the Nightscape mode. Like the new iPhone 11 and the latest Pixel phones, the 7T enhances night shots, adding more light, color and detail to areas that would have just appeared as black splotches on older phones. Night shots require a steady hand and a second or two wait, but they are a definite improvement.

In some of the above shots, you can see some examples of Nightscape mode and Super Macro mode. If you press the flower icon in the upper left side of the camera app, you can move in closer to small objects and still see them stay in focus. The effect isn’t perfect, but I was able to get closer to some plants and ants than I ever have before using a smartphone. It’s a blast to play around with modes like these, and they solidify the OnePlus 7T as a phone for shutterbugs.
Plus One
OnePlus isn’t tampering with the formula that got it to the dance, and that’s good. The 7T is one of the most powerful phones you can buy, and it costs hundreds less than its peers. It also runs on all four major US carriers, and T-Mobile sells it directly.
I've recommended the Pixel 3A ($400) as the best phone to buy for a few months now, and given the performance it offers for the price, for many of you it still is the best phone. But if you are willing to spend an extra $200, the OnePlus 7T will give you a taste of the luxuries you’d otherwise miss out on.
Correction: I referred to the display as a "Liquid" display. OnePlus calls it a "Fluid" display.
