ok so i just finished episode 3! i get more and more into it and it's great! i just struggle when it comes to imagine the scenes with the characters of the team (and it does the same thing with the other d&d campaign that i watch) but i really wish i'll get to naturally imagine the characters instead of the VAs because it makes me sad that i don't because they're pretty fucking cool! :))
also can't wait for ashley johnson to finally be there!

I honestly think the Legend of Vox Machina exists 1- in canon and 2- is a historical fiction w/in canon. It's an elaborate retelling of what actually happened (the streamed campaign). Obviously the people that were there know what happened, but really who's going to sit through a longwinded retelling of it including all the shopping episodes.

why do I ship Perc'ildan? Because Liam O'Brien told us so (and few of us listened)
But really, the campaign so far gave me even more reasons to ship Perc'ildan, the scene on the flying carpet is CUTE + all the little things boys said to each other + Vax giving Percy a healing potion... I mean HOW can you not ship them???

The fact that Grog found the Deck of Many Things and Travis was the only person who didn't know what it was is killing me. Liam was having a heart attack and Travis is just hella confused.

So like. If I resumed my campaign 1 watch. Would people want to hear about it still?

To say I forgot how good ExU Calamity was would be a lie, but actually rewatching it does hit differently than just thinking about it.
The Drama, the Conflict, the Choices - truly, everyone brought their A-game to the table. None of the characters are great people, and the cast embraced that in the best way.

My DM from my D&D group has been working overtime trying to get me to watch Fantasy High from Dropout saying it was really good and a great way to watch a streamed D&D campaign, and I've been putting it off this whole time because I have the loosest attention span for streamed D&D campaigns. Unfortunately literally nothing in the world is more boring to me than watching a bunch of people sit around a table and talk if I'm not an active participant in the conversation ya girl needs visuals.
But earlier this week I started a new crochet project and wanted something in the background, so I said "fuck it"-- I put it on my TV and listened/watched while I worked.
I'll give my DM credit. Fantasy High absolutely does fucking slap. I'm kinda kicking myself for not trying it out earlier lmao.

It's worse than that. The disease part takes effect immediately as well and doesn't go away unless he gets three successes on the saves. The three fails only means that he can no longer try to save against it and then it lasts a week.
He should've spent at least three rounds stunned, even if he used his legendary resistances to shake it.
CR1 Rewatch...

So far in the comments of Critical Role videos, Taliesin is crucified for such crimes as — lemme check my notes.
1. Stuttering. God forbid.
2. Having a tremor in his fingers when he rolls.
3. Needing clarification on spells for a character he had to roll mid-campaign and didn't have a lot of time to learn.
4. Getting upset when his plans don't work, something Laura and Liam both also notably, fairly loudly do. And this is nothing against them. Everyone gets upset. That's allowed. This is purely about fan reaction.
5. Taking a while to find things on DnD Beyond.
Now, I'm not jumping to conclusions, but it reeks of ableism. It reeks of getting angry because Taliesin has a bit of trouble explaining things and asking questions in a way that the others don't. Hell, I watched Liam drill Matt for about five minutes trying to retroactively cancel a call he didn't like (no hate, if you feel like something should change, go for it), but I know for damn sure Taliesin would have been torn to shreds for something similar. It's not lost on me that Taliesin is the man most comfortable presenting in a feminine way, and maybe there's something misogynistic in it that. It's gross. It's stupid. Disgusting.

Gonna say my peace before going to bed because I'm already seeing this on the Beacon discord:
TLoVM is a different show than Critical Role Campaign 1. One is an adaptation of the other. Adaptations change things to fit the medium they are adapting to.
A lack of Lament-ing isn't necessarily bad. It just doesn't fit within the altered narrative of TLoVM. Vox Machina didn't accidentally make Scanlan break the promise of never appearing weak, so there wasn't that same bitterness when he woke up. They also didn't fucking prank him meanly (a decision I kinda always questioned when it happened in C1, it was kinda mean-spirited). This version of Scanlan and Kaylie had a much better rapport and were in a much better place after everything was said and done. The other members leaving and doing their own thing also makes sense, given their motivations.
If you prefer the angsty original, go watch C1E83-85. They were fucking amazing episodes. If you like softer, more bittersweet endings, watch TLoVM S3E12, et al. It was very nice!
I'm not saying to not dislike something, just don't be a dick about it to people that like the change.

I'll be missing the live wrap-up but i wanted to say it's been disheartening but sadly unsurprising the way a lot of people who started with Campaign 3 talk about Marisha and Laura especially. It feels as though they see them as little more than vessels to provide Laudna and Imogen content. They get outright mad when people ask them questions in the AMA Firesides or 4SD about their jobs in Critical Role as a company, or other characters they've played, or their personal feelings about things they enjoy. A lot of them hate the Cobalt Soul despite Marisha explicitly and repeatedly saying it's incredibly meaningful to her, and are vocal about this, but will attack you if you say you're not a big fan of Laudna. Their approach to Keyleth feels like little more than a convenient opportunity for them to say "you can't ever criticize Marisha! Look at the harassment she received" but they'll then direct this claim towards anyone, even people who watched C1 live and experienced that in real-time and opposed it. They'll engage in harassment themselves and claim it's in defense of Marisha, then turn around and shit talk the Cobalt Soul and yell about how the Ashari are evil Ruidusborn haters and Beauyasha is boring.
And to be clear I have a longstanding and documented history of disliking obnoxiously parasocial behavior or invasive/repetitive/overly generic panel questions. I think, and I mean this genuinely, that it's completely fine and reasonable to be a CR fan who is here for characters only, and isn't interested in the cast. Indeed, I think a lot of early fans of the show were mostly here for the story of Vox Machina, and I respect the people who didn't connect to the Mighty Nein nor have an attachment to the cast and politely stepped away. I am not demanding everyone love every piece of merch nor every creative direction choice lest they disrespect Laura or Marisha; that is not how this works. But there's a difference between "I'm not really interested in anything but Keyleth, so I'm only tuning in to TLOVM chats!" vs this entitled distaste, verging on disgust, among a certain set of C3 fans when Marisha and Laura especially spend even a minute of their out-of-character time talking about anything other than Laudna and Imogen. If you do this, you cede the right to any "they're having fun/it's meaningful or comforting or makes them happy" defense (which, to be clear, I do not think is a valid argument with regards to the quality of a story, but which a lot of these people hypocritically invoke) or "if you dislike this female character or F/F ship you're a bigoted person," especially when you resent the actual real-world women behind your pretend characters for choosing to answer a question about anything other than what you personally care about.
And ultimately, I think that if you are dismissive and resentful towards the bulk of what the cast/company does (this includes when you turn this resentment towards fans for daring to ask questions about anything else, even in places that aren't at all C3-specific like panels or cast fireside AMAs, or places where the crew or the cast themselves are the ones actually choosing which questions are answered), it is childish and embarrassing to then act like you are being wronged and your opinions cruelly disregarded simply because something of which you only like one small facet fails to cater to you. You don't have to like it; but you showed up to part 3 of a trilogy and got mad that the creators sometimes talk about parts 1 and 2.

It's 12am and I have class tomorrow/today, but I stayed up and watched 1.5 episodes of Critical Role because even though I knew for a fact that Percy doesn't/didn't die, I didn't want to go to bed until I was sure.

some random thoughts after watching roughly 1/3 of the first Critical Role campaign (as someone who watched TLoVM before)
i'm not sure if watching from the very beginning was that crucial - the Kraghammer story arc doesn't seem that important in hindsight and i'm not sure what was more annoying, Orion or technical issues. that being said, i feel proud that i haven't simply skipped those episodes lol
Taliesin is so damn good at playing a smart-ass, he's super creative and his one-liners are awesome
i'm honestly surprised that Vaxleth did the deed so early on ??? but i imagine there is still much angst ahead
i get now why people were so angry about Kash's death - him and Zahra are first guest characters that i'm actually really enjoying
i'm honestly in awe with all the NPCs that Matt has created. he plays them so well that sometimes i forget that they're all played at the same person, if that even makes sense
sometimes i (partially) skip the combat 🤷🏻‍♀️ sorry not sorry, combat is super fun while playing but not as fun while watching imo
it's kinda crazy to me how well Ripley's VA in TLoVM copied Matt's speech pattern while playing her ????
i wish Ashley had been there more often, cause Pike really does feel like a guest character most of a time
my crush on Liam is getting worse (all the gifsets and photos of him that i reblog is me crying for help. why is this man so fine. why is he tormenting me with that cute smile and perfect arms)
