Everytime I write something as Baron I try to read it in his accent but it always end up going into a German accent and all I can think about is:
"No, little German boy! Don't become a living nightmare and torment the bad kids!"
"Oh mein gott! I am going to break through das mirror und kill mein roëmænce partnær!"

time agent guy: this is the best musical of the 25th century. Archer (tm) written by a hologram of lin-manuel miranda, a popular playwright of the 21st century.

i uh. have a double life headcanon. i'm so sorry for this. self harm tw.
pearl and scott have matching scars covering their arms; little moons and stars and smiley faces, and things like 'hi scott' and 'i miss you' and 'good morning!'. everyone knows about these; it's not like either of them go out of their way to hide them. they're also well aware of the scar between each of their shoulder blades- cleo and martyn have the same one.
what most people don't know, is that they have another set of matching scars. on their thighs, they have the words 'i hate you'.

I took one look at Duman and my brain went: MANWHORE!
There's actually a simple SCIENCE behind this!!
Behold. The Whore Gap. Seen on many male/masc characters throughout history, Winx Club especially, the whore gap refers to the little gap between the top and bottom of one's attire where bare skin is visible. Usually only a little bit of skin, separating itself from a full on crop top situation. Whether it's sluttier than that is based on several things and lots of opinions, there are no wrong answers, we're all in this together <3
The rating of whore on said gap depends on certain factors; Does it show the belly button? Does it show the hip bones? Would it realistically only be visible if the character were to raise their arms? Important things like that.
Taking a look at Duman, that is a clear case of Whore Gap. I don't think I even have to point out all the things when it's there for all to see. What I WILL say is that there's like a singular shot, mayhaps more idk, where his top rolls up further when his arms are raised. Things to think about. Points to add.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course in Duman's case there are multiple factors that contribute to him being perceived as a MANWHORE, mesh shirt, his piercings, makeup, waist. I just felt like. Talking about this. Sorry.
This is also why imo his rare comic appearances are not good.
Like if randomly changing his design wasn't rude enough, they TOOK the Whore Gap from him in most panels (except for like one) and I don't think I can forgive them for that. The only time I have allowed it was for Russian Winx on Ice Duman, who was given slits in his skirt for mobility and slays it hard, so it's a fair trade. Actually while collecting images I discovered that there is no need for a trade, because it's a case of 'hidden until arms are raised' gap, which is still valid.

Saw your tags-- it's me, the meta contemplating tiger~-- and started pursuing a trail and thought I'd get your opinion. (There's probably going to be typos because I'm typing fast, so beware~.)
Mulder's episodes concerning his beliefs, memories, experiences are incredibly well-handled in the show; yet all of Scully's religious episodes pale in comparison to her Beyond the Sea/Never Again/All Things arc. And I get why at some level (Mulder is willing to contemplate deeper questions-- "If you could prove the existence of God"-- whereas Scully lives firmly in the present and doesn't want to poke around at something with no concrete answers-- "I don't think it can be prove") BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT that doesn't explain the... offness? of the episodes.
DD did the best, I think (besides parts of All Souls) tapping into the potential whimsical/fantastical element of Catholicism, knitting it seamlessly into The X-Files world; and he (purposefully) left in questions that will never be answered. I THINK THAT'S IT-- everything else about the show is filled with a "What just happened?" quality, even the other religious episodes that were better handled (i.e. Miracle Man and Signs and Wonders... even though that last one was badly written, it still clung to the framework of the show.)
I think Scully's episodes are framed as "THIS IS THE ANSWER" to confuse her, to test what she believes are the answers... but they're so poorly resolved because it doubles down on 'IT WAS THE ANSWER" instead of handling her crises with nuance (like Mulder's episodes-- belief, testing, fake outs, conclusions separate from the definitive Truth.) Beyond the Sea and All Things was in the same vein; but it allowed her to figure out HER definitive answer.
I guess my point is: done well, Mulder and Scully's faith/belief center-episodes give them room to figure out what THEY believe rather than what is TOLD them to believe. And I find that a little disappointing because I would have loved to have seen what Scully thought the answer was in Revelations (heavy-handed as it was) and Orison (HEAVIER handed as it was), etc., rather than having to fall in line with the "moral of the story" (which is why Irresistible shone compared to its follow-up.) There were some good stories that could have been told-- and have been in other (frankly, better) media. Her religion was personal and would have been different compared to other religious figures, zealots, normal characters, or her family because of her life experiences.
ANYWAY, mini meta over! XDDDD One day I'll break this all down because I love story-telling potential in anything; and those episodes always nagged at me.
What say you? Am I off the mark?
I'm really not the best to ask about anything to do with religion cause these are my least favorite episodes. I don't care for organized religion at all and whenever it shows up in the show in those "Scully is a Catholic" episodes, I mentally tune out. Religion is not something I understand at all. I do agree with you that it hasn't always been handled well on the show. Most of the time these episodes just felt off to me. But again, that could be because my interest in religion is just zero.

@klldare ~ ❛  why do you always have to make everything about you?  ❜ (to Summer from Autumn, who can be a bit toxic^^)
Summer's eyes widened before narrowing, mouth open and closing, trying to collect herself. Boy, she had some nerve. The blonde spun around with a hand on her hips. "Ex-squeeze me?" she shrieked with a huff falling from her lips. "You have some nerve to say that to my face. I know not everything is about me. I'm not like you. Who's self-absorbed," she retorted back.

they'll fund a genocide and let their poor regions be destroyed. don't fucking forgive them for that.
my hometown is completely gone from what pictures i can find of it, i have not heard from my family (including aunts, uncles, parents, one sibling, and a grandparent), and the infrastructure in the mountain communities is wiped out. i cannot stress how catastrophic this is, or how difficult it will be for these communities to build back. i am angry, and scared, and heartbroken by everything that's happened.
and our government is spending it's money to fund a genocide.
free palestine, and don't be complicit. realize that this is not something happening that doesn't affect you--although it shouldn't take this to care about the deaths of thousands of people anyway.

i've noticed just how often achilles' dragging of hector's corpse is framed mostly as an act of extreme disrespect, or only some brutal show of triumph. personally i think that's underselling both achilles' intention and what the trojans must be thinking as they watch it happen.
hector's corpse is divinely protected so it can't be damaged by the greeks after death; all that effectively happens in the iliad is that his body gets dirty. but under normal circumstances (and i'm not gonna impose realism on mythology, but the iliad is famously detailed when it comes to bodily trauma), the physical reality of dragging a corpse along stony ground for miles would be severe disfigurement and dismemberment. first the skin would wear off, then soft tissues, then extremities would start to detach. i think the iliad's original audience would be aware of that as an intended outcome.
achilles (who doesn't yet know that hector's body has been granted divine stasis) doesn't just want to parade his enemy's corpse around, he wants to tear it apart ("i only wish that this fury inside my heart would drive me to carve you to pieces and eat your flesh raw..."), he wants it to not resemble a human anymore. he wants hector's blood and flesh to circle the city of troy. he wants to make it impossible for hector's family to gather the pieces of him to cremate and that way hector's spirit won't find passage into the underworld. that's what the gods are preventing from happening, they're not just keeping the corpse pretty for priam to pick up later.
