Embalmed
A short story by me (tw: body horror, self-harm kinda)
Did you know embalming isn't actually that common, worldwide? I didn't. Sure, there are some famous exceptionsâlooking at you, pharaohsâbut embalming random schlubs is mostly a US thing. Plenty of religions ban it outright. Islam, Judaism, several branches of ChristianityâŠ
Bear with me. I promise I have a point.
Anyway, I've got no opinion on what God wants us to do with our corpses. I've never been religious. I'm still not, weird as that sounds. But I'm with Islam, Judaism, and several branches of Christianity on this one. Just skip the embalming and bury the body before it starts to rot. It'll be easier for everyone, on the off chance someone decides to bring them back.
No, this isn't a joke. Look, I'm not saying it's likely, okay? I know the stats. Less than twenty confirmed resurrections in the last half-century. Maybe twice that many ambiguous cases. Actually ambiguous, that is. Just because someone is flaired âunconfirmedâ on r/Resurrected doesn't mean there's a chance in Hell they're legit. So, yeah, I get it's unlikely. But let's jump back to embalming real quick.
You know how it works, right? At least vaguely? Blood goes out, formaldehyde goes in. Well, that's step one. Step two is sucking all the non-blood fluids out of your body cavity and swapping those for embalming fluid too. They also sew your mouth shut, stuff some cotton in you to stop any leakingâI could go on, but I won't. Like I said, I don't have any issue with embalming from a treatment-of-the-dead-body standpoint. I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad for embalming Great-Aunt Edith, here. I'm just saying, if the dead body becomes an alive body, you can see why there might be some issues.
Yeah, yeah, I know what you're going to say: âIt's magic, dumbass.â And, yes, it is. That's why waking up with your mouth sewn shut and your body stuffed full of formaldehyde doesn't immediately kill you again. Doesn't make it fun, though.
Okay, maybe I shouldn't focus on the mouth thing. I'm sure it's happened to someone, but my sister cut the stitches out before she brought me back. She was thorough like that. I just feel like it's easier to picture, you know? Mouth won't open and hurts when you try. The rest of it's harder.
I don't blame my sister for not dealing with the formaldehyde. I know there wasn't much she could do about it. If she'd had more time, I'm sure she could've come up with something, but once you've dug up a body, you're kind of on a (ha) deadline. If someone sees you, you're done. So I get it. I've had a lot of time to think it over, and I'm still not sure what she could've done better. Other than just letting me stay dead.
I don't want to sound ungrateful, butâŠmaybe I am? A little bit? I know that's an awful thing to say. It's not like I wanted to die. That's not what this is about. It's also not about how super amazingly great the afterlife is. Sorry to disappoint, but I have no idea. I don't remember anything between the hospital and waking up on the grass with a chest full of embalming fluid. Does that mean there's nothing after? Or did coming back just give me amnesia? No idea. I leave that one to the philosophers.
My sister probably would've had an opinion.
She was alwaysâŠ
Let me tell you about my sister.
She was great. I'm not saying this because of what happened. She really was incredible. Almost perfect. One of those people who's so smart and so kind and so beautiful and so goddamn humble but not so humble you can even accuse them of humblebragging, to the point where you can't help but hate them a little for making you look so fucking shitty in comparison and then you feel like the biggest bitch in the world and that just makes you hate them more.
Okay, maybe she wasn't quite as perfect as all that. After I came back, I learned some things. Turns out she was just as much of a fuckup as me, in her own way. She was just better at hiding it. But I never met that version of her. In my memories, she's still just Little Miss Impossibly Perfect. I wish she'd told me about any of it. MaybeâŠ
No, that isn't fair. Why would she tell me anything that could get her in trouble? Maybe I would've hated her less, or maybe I would've just gone and told our parents. Even once we grew up. Would I really have been able to resist knocking her off that pedestal? I'd like to think I would, but come on. Look how I'm talking about her. And that's after she sold her soul for me.
If you're thinking right now that the world probably would've been better off with her instead of me, you're not the only one. Don't worry, I won't take it personally. Or maybe you're not thinking that at all. I've been told I project onto other people.
Maybe you're just confused about why I'm talking about her in the past tense. After all, it's not like selling your soul kills you, and you've probably never met someone unensouled. Or maybe you have, and you know exactly why I'm talking like this. Probably not, though. There are a lot more unensouled than there are people who were resurrectedâpeople sell their souls for all sorts of reasonsâbut there are a lot more fakers too. Pro tip: if someone claiming they sold their soul gives any sign of caring about literally anything, including whether you believe them, they're lying to you.
So, yeah, she's still here. I know I keep saying it, but I'm not religious. I don't think my sister is burning in Hell while her empty husk sits up here, and if you ask me, that's just a real convenient excuse not to help the person who's still right there in front of you. Whatever a âsoulâ actually is, there's clearly someone here.
Sorry, I might be preaching to the choir here. And I don't want to sound like I think every religious person thinks that way. I just made the mistake of talking to my parents this weekend, and I'm still a little mad. Or a lot mad. Look, I know I'm getting off topic. Just, real quick, I want to explain.
She's still my sister. I'm not denying that. I keep saying she was this or she was that because she's not really any of those things anymore. She's not cruel, but she doesn't care enough to be kind. I'm sure she's still smart, but she doesn't actually want to use her smarts for anything. She barely eats if I don't pester her into it. I don't think she'd have an opinion on what my lack of memory says about the afterlife anymore. But, hey, maybe she would. Maybe I should ask.
Anyway. None of this is really my point. My point is, waking up next to your own open grave is freaky enough when you're not choking on formaldehyde. It took weeks before I was mostly bleeding blood again. (Yeah, I checked. Don't judge. You'd be curious too.) I coughed up embalming fluid for months. My insides still don't feel quite right. I could get them checked out, but I'll be honest with you. I don't want to know. I haven't been anywhere near a doctor since I got back.
I know, you don't think this will happen to you. No one you know is the right combination of smart enough to wade through all the bullshit to figure out how to revive you and stupid enough to go through with it. And you're probably right. But I thought that too.

So I was thinking about Mandos and afterlife in Legendarium (as you do), and I came up with some HC/thoughts about Men.
Warnings: ghosts. Implied possibility of Hell??? (Those are two different things). Should this be a warning? It's creepy. And typically not talked about in the context of Legendarium, except some really weird questions people asked Tolkien and that one fic?
Those are all HCs based on vibe + what seems to make sense to me + what fits for me with other things. I think none of them contradicts canon, but they aren't very supported either.
First: ghosts. I wish I came up with it earlier, now it's probably a bit too lateâŠ. still, I hope to see that story someday!
So, Men have the thing that I quoted earlier today:
have a virtue to shape their life, amid the powers and chances of the world, beyond the Music of the Ainur, which is as fate to all things else
I read it as the Men can do a lot of things with their fate that the Elves cannot, and while they can't permanently bind themselves to Arda and become immortal, they can, in some circumstances, bind themselves temporarily. I'm not sure if it can be done on purpose, maybe it can (counterargument is that the Numenoreans tried to find a way to do it and failed), but we've seen it done accidentally.
We've seen: Aragorn's ghost army of Men who bound themselves to their oath (you know, who can't bind themselves to an oath this strongly? Yes, those 8 guys. Because the Men have safety switches turned off and can do more, for better and for worse.), Gorlim who bound himself by breaking his loyalty (idk if there was a formal oath involved), the Nine who bound themselves â well, accepted Sauron binding them, but it's much the same thing â with the rings.
Sidenote: The Norns are three kinds of (fate? something): things that have happenned, things that happen now, and debts/obligations/"should" (it's etymologically that!)
TBH I know very little about them, so I maybe misinterpreting. anyway, the point is that debts, oaths and obligations are a form of a self-imposed destiny. Or at least let's assume that they are.
So yes, Men can linger as ghosts if there's something keeping them: some debt or obligation. And only as long as this thing is keeping them. When it ends, they land in the normal situation, same as Men who have just died.
And, strangely, I don't think Nåmo has a lot to do with those ghosts. Based on thematic and visual elements I would say: Vaire if any of the Valar deals with it. Because she reminds me of the Norns. (But this is a purely aestethical choice: you could have Nåmo managing all of those situation and it would still work. Just⊠debt-ghosts and Men who die properly are a different pipeline in the Halls.)
NĂĄmo deals with processing the Men who are leaving, not the Men who are bound (until they are not longer bound). And now we get to the stranger/less canon-based part: Men too can refuse the call of Mandos.
Why? Because I said so because this leaves space for ⊠things I won't write about anyway? IDK. It would seem strange to me if the elves could and Men couldn't.
However, unlike Elves, they cannot linger on their own (as in: without the circumstances mentioned above), and the call is a one-time event for them*.
(And the debt-ghosts get the call when their debt is gone. Earlier it... blosks the call, sort of? Postpones it? IDK but it makes sense to me.) Edit: OK, this doens't make a lot of sense probably... Probably it makes more sense to be callâthey talk with NĂĄmoâsent to linger because of their stuffâdeal with their stuff. But this makes it harder to write. Or at least less fun to write because the ghosts don't have the type of agency that I like when writing? Hmm... I'm not sure I'll probably edit this part some more.
So the Men either go to Mandos, are processed (with more or less arguing with Nåmo and difficulty) and leave; or they refuse the call, but can't (as in: it's a law of (meta)physics, not just a moral law, Iforgot the Tolkien word⊠axan?) stay on Arda, so⊠something else happens with them? Probably not pleasant? I won't delve deeper into this question.
*For Elves the call of Mandos canonically a permanent thing and they can follow it at any time, it is said in one of NoME or similar book. If they don't follow it immediately, it's bad for their state and for their chances of reembodiment. And they can be caught and necromanced. But still, they can go to Mandos late.
#silm#silmarillion#tolkien legendarium#the silm#the silmarillion#tolkien metaphysics#mandos#namo#silm headcanons#silm hc#idk how to even tag it#ok i won't add more disclaimers on the post... i don't think it needs more

same anon from the cryptid König ask. Person who started the 6â10 thing was his own voice actor (who is already a not so pleasant guy).
anyway. you want cryptid könig ideas? Oh bitch (affectionate) I have plenty.
1) most prolific Austrian folklore dude is of course Krampus, who is a specific character in his own right and holds connections to old pagan folk tradition. Mostly the deal here is about punishing people for being bad. Usually Krampus and the other adjacent folklore creatures of the same ilk (namely the Straggele) are depicted with big horns, shaggy hair and weird eyes. big weird goat dudes. this König would probably be a pretty old spirit. Would be fun if he was the readerâs âwhite whaleâ of sorts, trying to get evidence of his existence, while heâs watching on with heart eyes.
2) of course, if we want to go more classic campy paranormal, thereâs always classic weird fucked up ghost thing. sort of shadow monster creature style that has solidified into a dude who is definitely a regular guy donât worry about the mist. The type of paranormal entity whoâs creation is more complicated than a regular standard death. maybe his ghost-hunting afterlife is so he can figure out what the hell happened to him. maybe he just thinks itâs funny. donât worry about the mist.
3) weird shit time. Youâve seen the könig with tentacles under his hood fanart trend I assume, and boy donât I love a nice dose of eldritch with my monster men. weird shapeshifter sort of vibes. Dude in the woods who has maybe two many arms (it helps with his miniature carving, actually). Heâs got most of the being human parts down well and can go to the grocery store. but sometimes he needs a second when sweet human offers to help patch a hole in one of his jumpers (because he might start growing feathers from joy). His eyes are a little too bright sometimes and his shadow a little too long but heâs just a regular guy!
rambling over. im a massive sucker for monsterous men.
Oh really??? Explains it. I mean the 6'10" will always have me laugh it is rlly ridiculous (especially when you see his character model near others)
I, embarrassingly, don't know how I forgot about Krampus. I have like a stuffed animal of him, I was JUST playing Wizard101 winter in summer event where he was there. I have greeting cards with him on it. I'm absolutely going to write that one for SURE in some way shape or form so thanks for the idea đ
I'm also doing the second for sure. I was trying to figure out what kind of paranormal being he would be and I was thinking some type of shade or shadow creature. A being that lurks in the dark and can just be a glowing pair of eyes or something you see out of the corner of your eye before disappearing??? Sign me the hell UP
I love love love all of these ideas so so so much and I NEED to write them all eventually. They've been added into the queue of future things to do đ I can already picture it now
Whoever you are anon, I love your big beautiful brain and THANK YOU for the ideas. đđđđ You're always welcome to submit any ideas you have for any monster men of the COD characters and I swear I'll write them

hi, so could you tell me what and or who Peccantumâs cult worshipped? And how they gained access to magic?
Who is Peccantum?
It's October, so I guess talk of spooky stuff is fitting lol
Keep in mind a lot of this is going to be me indulging in a darker tone than the final product. I'm throwing around ideas and depending on how Hazbin Hotel world builds (or doesn't) this could be completely disproven later.
Buuuut I wanna have fun dumping my thoughts about this somewhere! And maybe if I do that here, it won't clog up the main story I wanna tell. So, without further ado...
Cult Stuff!
Worship
This particular cult has a leader that is very charismatic. I'm tempted to say it's a cult of personality around this leader... But that's not quite it. I mean, there's gotta be a reason Dolf started this cult, right?
I think he's scared of dying, ultimately. Scared that there was an empty, meaningless void waiting for him after death. Or that eternal punishment would be unavoidable. Eventually, Dolf gets a glimpse of Hell, and it comforts him. Because he knows he's damned, but he can avoid the consequences of his actions. The afterlife can be just like his regular life! Just so long as he is clever and he's damn good at being clever.
So the cult 'worships' damnation and dying, in a way. It would also be appropriate if one of the lies Dolf tells is that "No one actually goes to heaven! Humans are all rotten to the core and carry our forefathers sins! We can do whatever we want to whoever we want and it doesn't matter, because no one is worth salvation anyways." Then going on to promise safety and protection in hell. Basically, preying on people's nihilism, vulnerability, and ignorance.
Magic
This one's a little trickier because we don't have a hard system of rules for magic in the show. We see Vox using sigils (as well as the seven deadly sins) but we see Charlie also straight up exploding people to death with fireworks. Sinners form seem to change on the dime, which might suggest that this isn't a physical realm, but the angel's weakness being angelic steel goes against it. Especially if Intent doesn't matter (which it might, but Alastor was also able to use it so....???????)
Suffice to say, magic is weird in Hazbin Hotel lol
For Peccantum, since he's all about magic, I've had to figure out some of my own rules. Firstly, each person/soul has their own brand of magic fuckery. Some come from religion, some manifest as a different form. Some souls are trained in it, some don't know it exists. Some have more, some have less. It's different for everyone and is influenced by the sinner it is attached to.
But surely that's just in hell, right? We haven't seen any human do magic (except a certain angelic necklace) right? Maybe they can't do magic!
....Yeah that could absolutely happen XD but hear me out!
We've seen at Halloween that Stolas was invited to a ritual sacrifice, meaning there is some communication between the goetia and humans. If there was.... I dunno, a book about how magic worked, or how to unleash it within a soul, and a human was able to see and replicate it....?
Again, all hypothetical lol, but it is fun to think about!
As for gaining power in the mortal world, humans can't exactly make deals the way demons do. Instead, they uh... Take it from others. Kind of like how Peccantum's magic was taken from him. He's probably done it to others too. Of course, those who practiced this would absolutely be damned for it, but that's not much of an issue for this cult. :)

Hello how u doin? Can I request for a oneshoot (again, if you don't mind:>) where Muichiro's fem!s/o get back in time because of some blood demon art to the timeline when he's around 7 so his family was definetly still alive!
The main event is when she met his dad in a forest where he was cutting down trees, and his dad asked her to have a dinner together with her because it's dangerous for a girl alone in the forest with such an injuries. There she realized that she get back in time.
She still don't let her guard down>:0, doesnt even sleep until midnight and when the demon who sent her suddenly approached (which waking up the Tokito family), she protected them. When the demon's head cut off, a portal to her timeline appeared and she said goodbye. But little Muichiro who has a weird feelings when he met her asked, "Will we meet again?" And she was like. "Of course."
Bonus Muichiro's parents could saw what happened through the portal; they saw older vetsion of Muichiro running towards her and hug her. I wonder how would they react to thatđ€
(Aaah I made a very long and specific request again shjajjshejw, anyway I'm the one who requested Reunited with Muichiro in the Afterlife! Thank you so much I love it this bigđ! And I saw that you were worried about being too OOC? but believe me when I read your fics I feel like it's really Muichiro so you don't have to worryXD)
With love, me;3
a/n: WAHHH TYSM FOR THIS REQUEST!! I ABSOLUTELY HOW UNIQUE AND FUN YOUR REQUESTS ARE!!! I SINCERELY APOLOGISE FOR TAKING SO LONG!!! It's currently exam season for me so I'm so sorry for taking so long ahh tysm for your support!!!
Your sword grazed the demonâs chest as it managed to jump away in the nick of time. âCan you please stop moving? I have a very important person to meet.â The demon sneered at you. âOh, is that right? Allow me to help you.â And that was when you realised you were in trouble. A hole suddenly appeared beneath you. Unable to escape in time, you fell through it. You managed to land somewhat gracefully on your feet. You look around.
Youâre in another forest. Your crow wasnât with you so you had no choice but to try and figure out where you were and how to get back. There was a faint dirt path leading up and you decided to follow it. You heard chopping sounds in the distance. Walking towards the sound, you noticed a man and decided to approach him. Upon noticing your presence, the man was shocked and immediately looked worried. âWhat are you doing out here in the woods all alone and hurt? Itâs really dangerous to be out here right now especially for girls like you!â Trying to use your sleeve and hand to shield your sheathed sword from his view, you smiled and tried playing dumb. âAh Iâm sorry! I actually travelled from another village and got lost and hurt on the wayâŠâ
The man looked at you pitifully and gestured for you to follow him. âCome, Iâm sure my wife and kids would love it if you had dinner and stayed the night with us.â Deciding that you had no other choice, you bowed as a sign of respect. âThank you so much and I sincerely apologise for the trouble.â He smiles at you and guides you to his home.
A hut entered your line of view. It looked small yet so cosy and welcoming. Suddenly, you felt nervous and extremely guilty about intruding on this kind strangerâs familyâs night. Taking small tentative steps into his home, he introduced you cheerily. His words faded into the background the moment your eyes zeroed in onto a familiar view. It was Muichirou. Well, not really. This Muichirou looked like a child and had a clone. Realising everyone was now staring at you, you hastily pushed your thoughts away and bowed. âI apologise for intruding! Thank you for having me!â The manâs wife smiled kindly at you, âDonât worry about it dear.â Younger Muichirou looked at you curiously while his clone looked at you somewhat suspiciously; both of them remained silent. You tilted your head to the side and smiled at them. Subconsciously, they mimicked your movement. You hummed thoughtfully, considering what your next move should be.
Squatting down so that you were almost at the childrenâs eye level, you smiled, introduced yourself very briefly and asked, âWhat are your names?â Mini Muichirou was quick to reply and was a mixture of excitement, bashfulness and curiosity. âIâm Tokito Muichirou and this is my brother Yuichirou! Weâre twins!â Ah, that confirmed your absurd theory. Not only have you teleported, you have also time travelled. Not revealing your shock and fear, you smiled and nodded. âIs that so? You have such lovely names and eyes!â Yuichirou didnât seem impressed by your compliment while Muichirou looked absolutely delighted.
Muichirou studied you really closely. He found you extremely pretty. It was strange however. The moment he saw you, he felt as if something within him had been fulfilled and relieved. It was really weird. Had he met you before? That wouldnât have been possible since most villagers donât really travel this far up the mountain. Tilting his head to the side like you, he wondered why you seemed and felt so special to him. He wanted to know more about you.
Noticing his curious stares, you smiled at him. Muichirou blushed and tried to hide behind his brother who rolled his eyes at him but smirked slightly. You laughed slightly.
It was so peaceful and lovely to have a meal with the Tokito family. Really nice except you were extremely aware that the darker the sky got, the more cautious you should be. Which was why when the Tokito family was preparing to sleep, you had rejected their invitation and explained that you would rather look at the night sky. âI appreciate it, truly but IâŠer⊠I have a routine of looking at the night sky for a while before sleeping. I stargaze with myâŠumâŠlover.â You did not have a lover. They didnât need to know that though. You tried your best to smile innocently as the family of four stared at you before slowly accepting your flimsy excuse.
As they settled down and got to sleep, you allowed yourself to actually admire the night sky a little. It was lovely and you wished you could do it more often. Seconds after it striked midnight, the reason why you couldnât arrived. The demon who had brought you here finally found you. It smirked, showing off its claws and chuckling. âWell? Did you like my gift? Sadly for all of you, your time is up.â
Fear and tension rose within the little house. Tensing up your muscles, you took a stance, making sure you shielded the Tokitos. You could hear them shouting at you to hide but you knew if you did everyone would die and it would be your fault. The demon striked first. It nearly got past you as it tried to dash by you. Reacting quickly, you managed to slash its outstretched hand off. It screamed in pain. Forgetting the Tokito family for the time being, it directs its attention to you. After sparring with it for a minute, you finally managed to figure out its pattern.
Unlike before, you managed to slash its head off. Its head dropped and rolled. It started screaming profanities and cursing you and the Tokitos. You stuck your head through its fading head. âHey, shut up and just die already.â Smiling cruelly at it, you watched as its final ash faded away. The moment it completely disappeared a portal appeared right above where it was. Through the portal you could see that it leads you back to where you came from. A grin broke across your face. Finally, you have a way back now.
âH-hey! Wait!â A voice called out, stopping you from entering the portal. Turning around, you see young Muichirou running towards you and looking at you anxiously while the rest of his family are staring at you in awe and curiosity. Smiling, you bent down so you were at his eye level. Muichirou checked quickly to see if you had any visible injuries. He was awed by how skilled your swordsmanship was when you sparred with that demon and was sure he didnât see you get hurt but one can never be too sure. âYouâre not hurt right? You have to go through that glowy circle right?â Ruffling his hair, you smiled. âThanks, donât worry, Iâm not hurt. I have to go through that âglowy circleâ as thatâs where I came from.â
Nodding his head, Muichirou fumbled with his fingers before finally blurting out, âWe will meet again right?â The both of you just had to. He could feel it. He just had to be with you in the future. His heart just kept telling him that there was something special about you. Laughing, you nodded. âOf course. Meet me in the future!â With that, you got up, you waved goodbye to the family and walked into the other side of the portal.
Bonus: As the portal closed, Muichirouâs mother gasped and pointed frantically at the scene on the other side of the portal. A boy who strongly resembles Muichirou had ran up to you and engulfed you in a hug, anxiously checking you for injuries and demanding to know where you went while trying to ensure that you were safe. Muichirouâs father chuckled, âIâm not quite sure how to feel about that but I donât think you have to worry about not meeting in the future. The both of you seem quite close!â Muichirouâs mother smiled, âI agree. You looked quite relieved and so happy when you saw her!â The tips of Muichirouâs ears turned bright red as his family proceeded to tease him continuously and express their blessings.
a/n: ahh i hope i did your request justice!! ohmy i had fun writing this though i took so long wahh

Hi, I'm the anon who asked this and I'm here to scream about my MC I am so sorry for how long this is gonna be
Okay, so I call my MC Pandora, I have a reason for it Now, the reason why I named my little MC Pandora was because of this line in the synopsis:
"Your investigations into a strange occurrence will lead you to know far more than you ever intended to, unravelling what may be the precursor to the collapse of the reign of godsâŠ"
Which, to me, sounded a lot like the MC is opening Pandoraâs box. Then I was like, âWow, it would be silly If I named my MC Pandora, and throughout the story and her investigations, itâs like sheâs slowly unlocking the box⊠wait-âÂ
Ok characterization, in the myth âPandoraâs Box,â Pandora has various characterizations, sometimes being seen as clueless and letting her curiosity get the better of her and opening the box. Other times being seen as cunning, knowing exactly what is in the box yet opening it anyways. I wanted both of these for my baby, a happy middle with a leaning towards innocent curiosity, knowing what's in the box and the consequences of looking into it but letting the curiosity win and then realizing just how grave the consequences actually are partway through, yet instead of giving up and closing the âboxâ she keeps going because of all that pent up and hidden feelings sheâs had about the way sheâs been treated her whole life. Because oftentimes, when we do something that has consequences that we know of, we arenât exactly aware of how bad those consequences are for us and others around us due to our innocence and lack of experience along with the feelings he had at the moment, especially if they are negative ones. In the case of the game, the âBoxâ would be the investigation and the downfall of the deities; this is what I strive for in how I play as her in later chapters btw.
In chapter one though sheâs still in that innocence, she has negative feelings about the other gods, but itâs not to the point where if she was given the option to bring down the gods or leave things the way they were, she would pick bring down the gods, no she would turn her head and choose to keep the things the way they were. Most of her negative feelings are directed towards Salvatore, she really doesn't want to dislike them, but they are everything she isn't, and that pisses her off in a way she can't describe, and it pisses her off when other older gods call them "childhood friends" when in reality they know nothing of each other and in childhood she was just tolerating their presence because their mom is quite literally the Queen of the gods and she'd rather not get whatever punishment is given when you upset her child or whatever. With Luciel, on the other hand, it seems to be a completely different story. She is extremely fond of them, being the god of the only thing that ever be considered something that can last for eternity, death. (unless I missed something and there is a reincarnation system that you plan to add later or something) And also the fact that they gave her a purpose and their generally calming presence (and ofc they're pretty, which helps a great deal with likability) She was always a little curious about Ciocana, always feeling a little... drawn to them in a weird way, maybe it's the similarity of them being outcasts, but she wants to get closer to them, especially after that dance they had. Oh yes, that dance. She had always been fond of dancing; however, she'd never had that much fun doing it before, and the timing was even greater when she remembers bumping into that other god and that nasty numbness she felt afterward. She wouldn't mind dancing with them again. She has always adored humans in a weird way; they basically stood against her whole being, with how short their lifespans were, yet... they made her feel needed in their afterlife, and she has always been happy to help with whatever issue they ask of and the fact that they went to her about it too (even though she's the only option) it makes her feel all warm inside, and I imagine they're the ones who introduced her to dancing in the first place. I don't really want to write much about her opinions on Alessi because they haven't met yetđ
Pandora typically dresses in a mix of all the human-era fashion because her job is so tightly associated with humans it's impossible for them to not influence her in some way. She usually wears Greek and regency-era-inspired clothing, light and airy yet beautiful.
Thank you for reading about my silly I love them, and they can and probably will change quite a bit throughout the chapters, and I genuinely cannot wait to see where the story goes, but yeah, all of this is just based off of the first chapter đ
My reply in the read more đđ
Pandora is such an amazing name and works so well symbolically/narrative-wise!! đ Especially in a setting that starts out once peaceful and then thrown into disarray when the "Box" is then opened, unleashing unto the world everything bad... but also Hope! You don't know much about Alessi yet, but I feel this also defines their character arc as well! Perhaps you'll see đ
Oh, and I love how thoughtful you are with how you feel about the ROs! I was definitely trying to emphasize how completely different people view Salvatore versus the MC, which makes for super interesting character foils to one another! Salvatore, the golden child, and MC, "everything they are not." Even with that description, they are defined in relation to Salvatore, rather than evaluated independently. To add salt to wound, people assume you are friends...
Haha, I don't think reincarnation is part of the plan--resurrection or rebirth is against the order of the world! I am glad Pandora has someone she likes, in spite of her negative feelings towards other deities. Luciel is just as fond of her. (... And thinks Pandora is quite lovely, too!)
But đ they're also a little curious about Ciocana? Maybe loners just drift to each other!
So interesting to have an MC who is inclined towards mortals and a little against deities, although she would still choose to keep things as they are! I imagined that's actually how I'd feel in MC's situation đ begrudging against anyone who mistreats, happy to be of service, and yet not so extreme as to want to participate in overthrowing the gods... for now! đ
Ahh, and I love the bit about the fashion! 𫶠Those two styles are so lovely, you should send some images of what you think she'd wear!!
But thank you so much for going into such detail and being so so thoughtful about your MC! I am astounded by the level of thought you put into Pandora, and in just one chapter!! I am starting to think I have the most amazing readers đđ everyone has such deep thoughts about the story and I want to meet all those expectations!!
You inspired me so much with your ask to give more depth to the choices in the future! So again, thank you so so much for telling me about Pandora, I adore her!!!! đ„șđ„șâšâš Please let me know more of your thoughts if you ever come up with more, or if things change, or... anything!! đ I would be so so excited to know!

A drawing based on this weird little story idea I somehow thought up when I was trying to sleep one night. So basically a family moves into this old mansion from the 1900s and the teenage daughter ends up finding that four ghosts who previously owned the house are living there and she befriends them. Yeah that's it. This is one of those things where I think of characters first and story later.
Speaking of said characters:
Elizabeth was the first owner of the house, an actress in some of the earliest films in the silent era of the 1910s. She was on her way to becoming a rising star, but that dream life was tragically cut short when one night she was rehearsing on the large winding staircase in the mansion but ended up tripping on her dress, leading to a fatal fall to the bottom. Her personality as a ghost is rather melancholy and demure, but once she gets comfortable around people she reveals that she's a very sweet and nurturing soul.
Alice and Ginger were the next owners of the house in the 1920s. Ginger (the redhead, of course) was also a silent film actress while Alice sang on stage. The two were lovers, but due to the time period they were in, they kept it hidden, and it was only in the comfort of their mansion where they resided as "roommates" that they were free to show their love. Of course that became a bit harder when they found that the house was haunted. Of course they were scared to find a ghost in their home, but once they all communicated and learned Elizabeth's story they empathized with her and all became friends, Ginger especially considering their shared career. Their tragedy struck when Ginger brought home a film reel to show everyone her latest performance, but due to nitrate film being flammable, Alice and Ginger died in a house fire. Ginger's personality is very extroverted, friendly and always ready to have a good time while Alice is more sultry and seductive.
The destroyed part of the house was rebuilt soon after but went abandoned until it was bought in the 1960s by Donna, a model from England. Of course she was shocked that there were ghosts living in her home, but just like Alice and Ginger, she ended up bonding with them. Donna moved to America with the hopes of becoming an actress, but unfortunately the dream never came true. At first she would try to take rejections well and stay optimistic about the next audition, but over time it became too much, and she tragically took her own life. Donna's personality is aloof and can seem rather cold, but like Elizabeth she softens up once she becomes comfortable with people, albeit with a very dry sense of humor and deadpan voice (she's still happy and having fun though).
Some random tidbits:
Elizabeth's face was inspired by famous silent film actress Lillian Gish while Ginger's face was inspired by famous silent film actress Clara Bow
Ginger has bluish colors on her face and yellow lips. This is because it's based on real makeup that silent film actresses wore to make their faces look natural on the screen (I used this as a reference: ). She was so excited to show her film to everyone that she drove home without even taking her makeup off the day the fire happened.
I'm not sure if I want to make Elizabeth and Donna a couple too or just have them be friends. If they do become a couple then they'd both be bisexual but neither realized they were also attracted to women until they met each other (also Alice and Ginger are lesbians).
The main character (yeah, I haven't even really created the main character yet, just the ghosts) and the ghosts frequently have movie nights in her room.
I'm thinking of making the still-unnamed main character a cinephile to help her bond with the ghosts (yeah it's probably way too big of a coincidence that so many owners of the house share a passion for movies but it's fiction so I do what I want damnit)
Also their cigarettes went to the afterlife with them because....reasons
So yeah I think that's all I have to say about them so far.

The Hobbit;
Thranduil:
đŠ You met Thranduil when you were captured by his guards in his Mirkwood forest, and instantly he was taken by you; even though Elves only love once, he felt his cold heart melt a little when his cool, blue eyes met yours
đŠ What surprised you was the fact that he didn't throw you into a cell, instead, he let you stay with him, asking you questions that slowly dwindled from questions about the Company to more about you; and actually you began to grow fond of the Elf King, he wasn't as mean and cruel as the other Dwarves had said, he actually was quite... Sweet
đŠ And sweet he was, before dinner, (which he asked you to join him, and you sat beside him as a special guest), he had learned that you loved playing instruments, and ordered one of his Elves to bring you one; Thranduil then gifted you a beautiful, crystal harp
đŠ When Bilbo had found a way to escape with the Dwarves, your heart was split, go with them and reclaim the mountain or stay with Thranduil; obviously after Thranduil gave you that deer-eyed look, you stayed, even thought you'd miss your new friends and wish them well, you wanted to live your life with Thranduil
đŠ And he was always there for you, making sure you had everything you ever need and wanted, Thranduil became super protective of you, making sure you were safe, (and making sure you don't die like his last wife...); together you are the 'it' pair, a powerful one at that, though you were able to thaw his cold heart, allowing Thranduil to rule Mirkwood with a much softer boot, and he has you to thank for that, (you changed him for the better)
---
Lord Of The Rings;
Samwise Gamgee:
đ„ You met Sam when you joined the Fellowship, watching as he stood by his friend Frodo wish such confidence, his other two Hobbity friends joining in; you instantly felt drawn to him, thinking he was just simply adorable
đ„ During the journey, you got closer with the little gardener, and that was actually the first thing your found that you both had in common; from gardening, plants, sunflowers, and baking, that was just to name a few of the things you both spoke about with such fondness
đ„ And it was very upsetting when Sam left to follow Frodo, though before he left he made sure to say his goodbyes, which let to you both in tears; you watched as he ran off before going back to fighting stray orcs, and Sam sat in the boat with Frodo after he almost drowned, rubbing his cheek, the feeling of your chaste kiss still lingering
đ„ You only saw Sam again after the ring was destroyed, sitting with him, holding his hand as you waited for Frodo to wake up; while you both waited, you both caught up, along with sitting in the peaceful silence
đ„ Sam was enamored by you, your voice, your touch, the way you held him always gave him such comfort; and you loved Sam, the way he recited a small poem he wrote for you, or his promises of showing you his home, your lovestruck
---
Disney (Cartoon);
Milo Thatch:
đ You met Milo when you were asked to join the crew on the trip to seek and search out Atlantis, you being a well-beloved and a professional at your craft, (you were an expert in world mythologies and folklore); you had to join, you loved the idea of finding the lost city, you loved learning new things and you hated stagnation, you needed to get out there and find that city
đ When you physically met Milo, you thought he was sort of awkward and dorky, and he on the other-hand, thought you were amazing, to say the least; he asked you what felt like a million questions, about you job, your likes and your possible theories, and that's when the rest of the group began to grow pretty irritated... Since neither of you stopped talking
đ Milo absolutely loves the way you joke around, your jokes always make him laugh and you think it's the most beautiful sound in the world, and Milo would say the same, whenever he gets a laugh out of you he feels like he's died and gone to heaven
đ After finding Atlantis, you earned the cash that was promised to you, but instead of spending it on jewels or fancy clothes, you started up your own business; Milo, the little gem that he is, bought you one of the books on changelings and witches that you have been looking for, (that earned him a cute date the following weekend)
đ Milo really thinks he's found someone who understands him, and you feel the same, finally you felt seen and heard; and everyday with Milo is an adventure, never do you get bored or anything, you both are always up to something ;)
---
Gotham;
Edward Nygma:
â You met Edward when you worked with Oswald... Well, you didn't work for him, you worked as a sort of... Partner in business, so to speak; you actually were extremely smart, in fact, you graduated from Harvard and MIT, working on perfecting your own... Special technology (as a somewhat good and bad guy, you called yourself a vigilante, you made your own tech that helped a lot of people, and one of those clients was Oswald)
â Anyway, you met Edward when he came to talk with Oswald, of course, you were there too; the conversation was slow, but once he gave you a riddle, it was like fireworks went off; you then surprised Edward by answering the riddle perfectly, and that's when Edward began to like you
â Now, Oswald, liking Edward, didn't really like you getting close to the Riddler, but you were closer to Oswald, and you knew that he wouldn't kill you, or try and have you killed, you could take care of yourself; so, with no one to really stop either of you, you and Edward began sort of 'dating'
â You knew being a vigilante and him being a villain, you'd both never had a normal relationship, no dinner dates out and about that's for sure; most dates consisted of you and him either quietly reading together, giving each other riddles to solve, or just doing crosswords together
â Even though Edward's mind is a bit... Warped? He, (and his Riddler persona) are mighty fond of you, and he was sure of himself that if you were ever in trouble, he'd be there for you; you felt entirely the same, you made sure to o out of your way to show Edward how much your cared for him, always there to make him smile
---
Stranger Things;
Eddie Munson:
đč You met Eddie when you worked with Steve and Robin at the Family Video, he'd come by to say hello to the two and that's when you met him; instantly, he felt some sort of connection, (he likes to say it was love at first sight), and after meeting you, he came to the Family Video almost twice a week
đč And everytime he came around, you be at the front desk, you got a bit suspicious that Robin or Steve knew when he'd come over so they put your behind the front desk; but Eddie would lean against the counter, flirt a little, give you his charming smile, and believe it or not, you fell hard
đč From there, it was like you both were dancing around each other, waiting for the other to make the big move to ask the other out, but during that time, Eddie pulled out all the stops; bringing you sunflowers, new notebooks to write in, stuffed animals, and even new maroon yarn for your knitting, (which you loved)
đč You were practically being spoiled by the young man, and the moment he gifted you a new set of dice for D&D, you asked him out; and of course, he said yes, and the both of you went out to a nice diner for dinner before going to see Labyrinth in theaters (because he remembered how much you loved fantasy)
đč Eddie is head over heels, smitten completely, and falls deeper in love whenever you play D&D with him, and he loves how chaotic you can get, (he gets them heart-eyes); you couldn't believe you had someone like Eddie, a brave young man who understood you and made you feel alive, it's ever a dull day when Eddie's around, that's for sure, (you can't get enough of him)
---
DC Movies;
Diana Prince:
đ You met Diana when she met Bruce, your boss? It was never really said for sure if he was your boss or not, you helped him out with paperwork, but you felt that you were more of a friend than an assistant; anyway, you met her when Bruce heard about her, (and yes, you knew that Bruce was Batsy), and you were immediately hypnotized
đ Like why does she have to be walking around all gorgeous like? She is literally a Goddess, like what the hell... In short, you were in love, (she might as well have been aphrodite; Diana, thought you were mighty pretty too, she loves the blonde hair, (she wants to braid it), and it made her realize that she might have a thing for blondes
đ Well, after a couple of weeks of flirting, lingering touches, and sneaky, (not really), glances, she asked you out on a cute like amusement park date; there, she won you a giant bear stuffed animal, (cause of course she can win those games), and you both shared a kiss on the ferris wheel
đ Diana, though she knew that you could take care of yourself, always made sure that you were safe before she left to fight villains; you stayed at your shared home, reading your J.R.R. Tolkien and other fantasy books, knitting yourself a new scarf and a matching one for Diana, and even baked something new
đ Even though Diana sometimes left to fight and save others, you always knew that she loved you, she was very expressive, and you knew she loved you since she loved hearing about your random facts when you conversed; you found her incredibly smart, talented, and felt like you were on Cloud 9 whenever she's near, ("you're whipped," Bruce had once said but that only made you smile)
---
X-Men;
Charles Xavier:
đ§ You met Charles when you were sitting at a small diner, drinking some good tea and eating a small slice of cheesecake and then they walked through the door; Charles, and his friend Erik, sat across the booth with you and that's when they told you that you were a mutant, just like them
đ§ This surprised you, for one, huh? And two, who were these people, and lastly, why was the one just staring at you so intensely? All these questions had flown through your mind, and as if he had read it, Charles answered all of your questions; he was a mutant, he could read minds, you were a mutant too, and he would be willing to help train you
đ§ You thought about it for a moment, still a bit confused and slightly overwhelmed, you said yes, why wouldn't you? You got to be trained by a very handsome man who lived in a mansion; turns out that you were actually a mutant, you did feel like that was a fib, but you were one, (you could actually harness and manipulate sound and energy, levitate, create forcefields, use telekinesis, and exert major force with the energy, (the same as Vitkor from Umbrella Academy if you wanna see your powers in action))
đ§ You trained with Charles, using the violin, cello, and harp to help enhance your powers, and during this time, you grew close with Charles; Charles, as he taught you for a good couple of months, slowly fell for you, and he fell hard
đ§ By the next Spring, you both became an item, going on little walks, cooking together, reading by the fire together, and so much more; Charles is incredibly fond of how sweet and positive you are, you always brighten his day, and you feel the same, always amazed by the man before you, you both work so well together

Ranking Books I Read on 2023: 25-21
25. Gallant - V.E. Schwab
This book is weird. There's no dancing around it. And not even really in a "holy shit what did I just read" kind of way that I might have liked more, more like reading out of the dream journal of a particularly creative and fandom-obsessed teen girl. Which is fine. That's not my jam as an adult, but I can appreciate weird books written specifically for weird little girls. If you have any of those in your life, they'd like this. Not really for me tho.
24. Afterlife by Paul Monette
This book will rip you open. What I went into thinking was gonna be a sort of serious found family romp turned out to be pretty bleak, but with a smidgen of hope at the end. This book is basically "not everyone who grieves can be saved from the self-destruction unhealthy coping mechanisms they have, and you can try to help them as much as you can, but not at the expense of your own health and well-being" and yes that's an immensely painful lesson to learn, but in the AIDS epidemic? That was basically a survival mantra. A little too much for me, but I can appreciate what it was doing.
23. The Skull - Jon Klassen
Does anyone remember that Twitter post with this author asking if any librarians could help him find a fairy tale he randomly stumbled across in an Alaskan librarian and couldn't remember the name of? Yeah, that was Jon Klassen, and that fairy tale inspired this book. That alone is pretty neat, but this book actually succeeds in being really charming and cute. I've always like Klassen's art style, and it's put to good use here. Plus, I'm always a sucker for skeletons. I just am.
22. Nobody: Casualties of America's War on the Vulnerable, from Ferguson to Flint and Beyond
Another hurty read. Although it occasionally gets a bit stuffy and historical, it does provide a lot of context for everything, and the book is so short otherwise you can basically forgive it. This book will make you feel bad about everything though.
21. The Only One Left - Riley Sager
This book is silly, alright? It's pure, unadulterated, melodramatic nonsense. And it was honestly really refreshing. Maybe it was because I read this right after I finished The Poisonwood Bible and Lives of Girls and Women and just needed a breather, but it was fun and dumb and I actually had fun trying to guess the mystery. A good palate cleanser book if you're into these sorts of things.

âŠSo I finished La SalutâŠthere were things I really wanted to enjoy but couldnât, and things I didnât enjoy at all (sometimes things donât need explaining!). And then suddenly the emotions worked again and I actually cried, repeatedly! I now have even more thoughts about âdivine mantlesâ and how various characters in Virche learn to embody or discard themâŠbut 0 coherence. ^^;
That said, I couldnât get into Adolphe that much. I felt for him, but itâs the same feeling as from a distant acquaintance that you see sometimes on his way to Job at Location. There's a lot of implications to him that are interesting: how he's structured his whole life around Ceres and what that means for his sanity, his horror at Relivers, etc., but the writers are so committed to him being Normal (tm) that those aren't touched on as much. This is what happens when you put Ankou and everyone else right next to him. Poor guyâŠhis more snide faces are extremely good though. Hopefully later playthroughs will make him more endearing!
...Actually I do have more thoughts, oops. First the "aw man :(" and then the "YAAAAAY" under the cut:
The "Aw, Man :(" which isn't "bad" so much as disappointing:
Please imagine with me a version of this story where Ankou is the God/Watchman of Death he proclaims himself to be. Imagine everyone else, terrified of dying, suddenly being able to ask about the Afterlife, even if the answers are vague. (Can't have everyone get too hyped to die!) Wouldn't that have been unique and gothic-ly fun? I still like the actual answer on some level, but I wanted this too.
On that note, an actual dislike: I viscerally hate Ankou being embarrassed about acting the part of Watchman of Death. It felt born from a place of love for the Drifter, Yves and Ceres, so for him to feel so negatively toward it? Awful.
Less awful and more confusing: Ankou says he uses "smoke bombs", but none of his previous exits imply smoke. All the more reason to pretend it's only canon here!
The "Queen's genes" (ha, rhyme) thing really did amount to nothing, huh? I don't understand why it's here and that rankles.
Every time some variant of the line "Ceres is a plant/lycoris" comes up I feel like the Six-Fingered Man from The Princess Bride while Inigo Montoya does his revenge speech ad nauseam. "STOP SAYING THAT!"
Seriously though, I can handle Ceres being like a lycoris, akin to, etc. But something about "is a plant" is so inherently funny/brain-breaking that I'm no longer thinking of all this as a metaphor, but an actual, physical part of her, and it just doesn't gel. ;_;
It feels like there were two plots going on in this route: The Royal Family and Adolphe VS Ankou, and frankly I wound up more invested in the former. This isn't the first time it's happened, it won't be the last, but I still was drumming my fingers a little waiting for things to switch back.
I was really hoping the bouquet confession would lead to an option to choose Adolphe or Ankou (or both), because it felt like Adolphe was passing the baton over to Ceres in that moment. But nope! :(
Yves and Lucas' mini-endings in this route's Salvation ending were so wonderful I now have 0 desire to play their actual Salvation routes. Oops!
The "YAAAAAY", which I hope is self-explanatory:
Dahut's reveal? Literally iconic, as was the final scene between him and Salome. Loved his revenge, loved his friendship toward Nadia, loved how he unwittingly gave Lucas the hope he needed to make his first steps toward freedom, etc.
All the love interests working together to save Ceres! Also self-explanatory.
Adolphe and Ankou's banter and arguments, down to their voices being similar, was so funny and also sad post-reveal. It reminds me a lot of Archer and Shirou in F/SN's Unlimited Blade Works route, but better crafted I think. YMMV.
Capuchine KABOOM! (I find him rather morbidly cute, so his frustrated scream pre-explosion gave me both catharsis and a weird sort of cuteness aggression. Again, Scien, again!)
On a more serious note, Scien and Lucas having to interact and him being able to help Lucas on the road to recovery was really sweet. They were both great in this route.
Hugo/Yves are my OTP now, actually. That love realization from Hugo was just too good, ditto them traveling together. Please let there be scenes of their road trip in the fandisc!
The aforementioned inconsistency and embarrassment aside, Ankou being revealed as Adolphe was masterfully done. Loved the Drifter planting those stories of him in the past and then those stories helping to keep Ceres alive in the future. The images of him collapsing among the ever-growing lycorises along with the voice acting made me cry!
THE BOUQUET. All that subtle build-up over the routes (this one included) culminating in that one gorgeous CG. Ankou choosing of his own accord to take up the mantle of Watchman of Death, fulfilling that now-old fairytale and closing the cycle for good. ;v;
Hearing Lucas' voice post-ending also made me cry, but happily this time. He's alive and well! He's free! Nadia has a cane now! AAAAAA
Scien ripping up the time travel research letter. Yes. YES. I don't know how to explain it, but something about the way he's written, whether antagonistic or anti-heroic, just gives me such joy.
Ceres flustering Adolphe at the end, and their kiss. Again, I still don't quite buy their romance, but like Ankou I'm glad she's able to smile from the bottom of her heart.
...And that's it! Now to choose whose Salvation route to do first, Matthis or Scien's.
#virche evermore#shuuen no virche#virche evermore spoilers#I'm so tempted to go straight to Scienâs routeâŠbut Mathis' struggles were fascinating too...#this got long oops

ch1 - the Good Place Mechs AU
While this post fic contains a major spoiler to the Good Place, no familiarity with the Good Place is required to understand this post. I'm merely putting our favourite immortal space pirates (including the space vampire mum) in a fun story setting đ
...
Jonny blinks and, huh, what's going on in there? He is in an unfamiliar place, all pastel colours and space bare like a hostel room, and in some weird getup he doesn't remember putting on.
A door opens, and some pointy-eared lanky person in an ugly yellow uniform grins at him.
"Hello," says the stranger. "You are dead and you've made it to the Good Place, congratulations. Before we begin, John, do you intend to continue upholding the vow of silence you took back when you joined the monastery - also thorough your afterlife?"
Jonny gapes a little, and gives a small nod.
It's convenient, really. That way, he can always pretend that he's figured out this fucking prank much earlier.
"It works a little differently than you may have expected, John," prattles the stranger, "but the essentials should sound familiar to you. The neighbourhood has 322 residents perfectly matched to live together in a blissful harmony. I will show you around on the way to your new home. Quite a lovely little farm, I must say. Your soulmate came to us not long before you, and has kept that little farm running ever since."
Jonny nods. Get on with the exposure, he thinks impatiently, only half-listening. A giant line of bright green text stretches over one of the yellow walls.
"I feel like I'm forgetting something," muses the stranger. "Ah, right, we've done a little experiment on the resurrection of the flesh, here. See, some of the life's pleasures are only available to you mortals while you wear your, ah, flesh bag - we've made sure to fix them up a little, please remember to not pour any water inside when you shower - we have tried to improve the bodies a bit, too. It took a little guessing, i hope your facial hair is what you've wanted it to be because, frankly, you're stuck with it now."
Jonny touches his face to check. There is a thin hairy line on his chin and it doesn't fall off when he pulls on it. He manages to rip out a single hair.
He's got real facial hair! Woah!
Huh, maybe he really is in heaven. If they've got the gender reassignment shit done for him, well, Jonny supposes he can play along for a little while. Just until he figures out how to make the good parts stick, maybe.
"Aurora," says the - angel? - and a second version of them appears out of thin air.
"Hello world! I am Aurora!" says the copy cheerfully.
"Yes, Aurora, we know," the first angel says and then takes a second look at Jonny. "Oh, right, this is Aurora - she works with me as we keep watch over this neighbourhood. She appears when called by name, and takes shape of whoever said it out loud. She can conjure anything people ask for, and knows the answer to any question she might be asked. Of course you've always been very self-sufficient, John, so I understand that you won't ever need her assistance anyway."
...
"...a sprout salad bar, a sprout burger stand," the angel kept filling the silence, and Jonny yearned to loose them a little early. "And there is this little sprout garden there, so you can eat them directly from the soil if that strikes your fancy... Oh, hello Ahega, fancy seeing you here! John, look who is there! Ahega, look, your soulmate has finally arrived-"
"I'm forking begging you," whines a tall stranger who looks pretty cool actually, piercings and all - but forking? what the fuck? - "call me almost literally anything else. Maybe a nickname-"
The angel shakes Jonny's shoulder so hard that Jonny bites his tongue, ow.
"John here won't be calling you anything," the angel cheerfully announces, apparently oblivious. "He took a vow of silence while alive, and still upholds it here. Aurora?"
"Hello world! I am Aurora!" announces the copy, and Jonny jumps a little.
He's still not used that that, okay? And by the looks of it, his - or maybe the other John's - his soulmate doesn't seem to be used to Aurora yet, either.
"Aurora, would you please be so kind to give us a recording of brother John's life from his point of view, so that he can share it with his soulmate despite having vowed not to talk?"
"Processing... Here you go!" announces Aurora, handing Jonny something that looks like a real life save button. Huh.
"We'll leave you two to catch up, come on, Aurora," says the angel.
"Goodbye, Edda," answers Jonny's new soulmate with much less enthusiasm. Huh, the angel apparently does have a name, after all. "Goodbye, little moon," Jonny's new soulmate adds much more gently.
Aurora beams and skips steps, as she and Edda walk away.

Afterlife therapy can't fix everything, golden cages, and unreturned all sound neat!
@thalion71, for the WIP ask game!
Afterlife therapy can't fix everything: The very rough title for an OC centric fic, focusing on Urusalirë with their family after she's reembodied from going off to fight and dying in the War of Wrath. Fun highlights include: backstory trauma because their family who's deaths she feels responsible for weren't in Mandos, Nerdanel with a little Trauma By Proxy because almost everyone she cares for has died horribly in Beleriand, Mahtan trying to keep his family together while ignoring the bitter and hurt parts of himself to help his partner, and of course my headcanons on Mandos and reembodiment.
He deliberately holds himself back from touching her- something she is pathetically grateful for but simultaneously infuriates her. They want to hold and be held by their friend and partner and husband and they couldnât in death and now they canât in life because they tried and they had, for hours they had held their partner and their daughter as closely and tightly as any of them could bear, but even the thought of someone touching their skin now pins their ears back and makes them want to cry.
Golden Cages: Magic puberty with parents who are fundamentally, cosmically incapable of understanding you and a sibling who is both a lifeline and a threat is a great time! It's basically me working through Luthien's relationships with her parents and with her childhood while forced into a place and form that she can't fit out of love. Also an excuse for lots of purple-prose magic description, which I'm always a fan of. I'm not terribly happy with the bones of it anymore, and it's hard to reconcile normal mental reactions with Eldritchly-Inhuman Maia instincts without leaning too hard one way or another and feeling wrong, but I still love some parts and the premise so it will probably end up reworked in the future.
When she finally stopped Singing (she didnât run out of air) she had wings large enough to half-span the throne room, and skin that glinted like metal and iridized like the inside of a shell, and eyes brighter than the forest-frozen stars, and hair that spiraled like clouds (like her motherâs) and, and, and. She didnât speak for a month, until it all (mostly) went away, leaving her stretched and straining at her bodyâs seams with the knowledge of her new potential. The forest's bird-song didnât come back for another week.
Unreturned: An AU where Luthien is able to return to life as a mortal(ish) because of her nature, but Beren can't because of his. She agrees to go back and live her life for as long as she can bear (very reluctantly, in no small part because in this AU she's already pregnant), and resolves that since she doesn't have Beren to settle down with, she is going to fuck shit up and leave as terrifyingly awesome a legacy as she can. Beren is her impulse control. Would love to do more with this but it's 90% undefined break-it-less vibes in my head which with the Silm means so much planning to get pieces to fall into place without making things worse. I do know that the major canon divergence would only start after the Nirnaeth was lost. Also featuring Maedhros and Luthien becoming really weird, terrifying, and vaguely codependent besties (a relationship I care so much about with less than 0 basis), and Daeron trying to coparent Dior while keeping his sister even halfway sane (paralleling Maglor with Maedhros- and possibly Gil-Galad?)
Luthien begs. She pours her heart and soul out into her Song, all her rage and grief at the unjustice of the world. Namo, the great judge, grim and unrelenting and always, always just, he cries. He sits, silently listening to her, as tears drip down his stony face. He is not unmoved. But there are laws greater than he to be upheld, and mortals do not return from death. Elves do. And Maiar do not die.
#ask#jaz-the-bard#thalion71#wip ask game#ask game#urusalire#fae and fell and full of shadows agenda#<- my maedhros & luthien tag#which has basically nothing in it because i am alone in silently rotating them lol

PINK KKOMAS KOHAKU OUKAWA 73
Spoiler for my stories
Dear my winter cycle friends.
Hi! This is kohaku! I am actually going to send this letter to you guys. I'm actually worried about someone. Through I'm always worried about people those day, but those days I think they'll be fine untill this little event happened which the context of the letter I have!
I don't know how to explain it since It happened when I pass out... After seeing Doll memories with the help of Sea. To the context of the memories.(âą âœ âą;)
I rather not say, it's a classified information after all, it's bad for my heart to remember something like that again, I run a fever after I pass out that time! Anyway, it's not about me, don't worry too much. Since I'm well now. (ŽáŽïœ„ ` )
back to the main topic! Actually. My friend mad hatter -- no, I mean. Blood, disappear for couple of days. Almost a week even. His mansion disappear too. Even the cool one in the deep sea.
Bee spouse seems to notice what's up but never told us anything. They just said " it's matter of their world rule" or something Along the line. Doll wanted to question them but they left to fix something. Bee seems worried about it too but he stayed behind like always. He seems to finally snap out from whatever making his eyes turn peach for some reason.
When I'm writing this, blood already been found, he was kinda... Strangely normal. Which is abnormal, even doll who wish upon violence upon blood like it's normal thing like breathing to him don't move against him. Blood thought all of us are siblings through.
The kaname Toujou of his world is no longer a kid but on his canon age and he takes blood away before he can say anything. Blood don't show up for one day, he did appear again after he sneak out.
Which is weird. Since all of us is just different version of one character.
But explaining it to him seems strange so we all just agree. Blood said some weird stuff. He said Grey-han was apologizing again for something.
.
.
Laughing at it, and being back to his normal self... Kinda. He seems more "less dark and burden some" like he was before. But his more happy now while holding a cat, who seems sleeping all the time, or rather suspicious unconscious as blood put ribbons and dress on them. (ăËïœ„Đ·ïœ„Ë)
Blood is weird with his cat. I think his cat is his world mc and bee spouse baby or something. Which is complicated.
There was another fact about his cat:
They smell like death, a soul that shouldn't be among the living, also the stench of blood(literal one) and lives that seems to be offer to the little cat...
It's kinda .. unpleasant feeling when I'm around that cat. Probably cause I'm a reaper of death Esther way.
I want to take the cat and sent them to the afterlife train tbh. But blood probably won't like it, but also it's like the conductor won't accept that kind of case either...
It's very complicated... I dont want want those scary conductor chasing me with Guns, swords and alikes if I cause trouble and work load for them. And my friend would hate me if I did.
Btw!! Those people I speak above are My new friends I happily and thankfully meeting. sorry for not saying more about them. I honestly don't know much but they are fun batch.
We also have sea who's a kraken and can do some potion and magic, he don't speak much.... Like he only speak one word every thousand word a person says to him. We also have that mofumofu moth kid (i dont see them for weeks now but bee spouse said they are playing with baby moth kana in the gallery), bee spouse forcedly adopted with bunch of other kids.
Anyway I have to go now! I actually forget the reason I start this letter. Others are forcing me to fasten my writing!
I can't wait to see you all soon.

Ahh loved the new Yuuji files chapter so so much it was the best one yet! Opening up with summer camp and gojo immediately falling prey to his own hubris was great I was super concerned about that mascot for a moment I was worried it would end up being the death god. Poor Yuuji he's got so much experience he's in his element but no one wants to listen to his advice. I'm not very outdoorsy myself but a good half of my family is and I know from them how easy it is to get hurt if you fuck around. There are multiple eagle scouts in my family who'd have some things to say to all the kids about how foolish they were on the river. Thank goodness Yuuji was a good person and willing to literally jump in to help cuz that could've been a disaster I'm not convinced the Kyoto kids would have survived on their own. Especially since if they had gone without Yuuji they might have ended up in the death gods territory without any way out just like all those other people. Damn Sukuna should realize Yuuji is entirely incapable of sitting by while others meet their doom by now. The death god was so creepy and cool I feel bad for him but also scared coz he wants to do good things and is currently a victim but he's also crazy powerful and beings like can so easily destroy little fragile humans or even just ruin our lives without thinking. Going together into the afterlife to fight God together is incredible good for them. The true forms were excellent Yuuji getting to appreciate his boyfriends true form was lovely and everyone seemed so cool. I'm so glad Yuuji got to kill a god that was awesome. I wonder how Susumu will feel about that. Little sun god Yuuji I love it. I had a headcannon that Yuuji was descended from Ame-no-Uzume-no-Mikoto the goddess who lured Amaterasu from a cave by dancing. In my head cannon the two goddess had a kid who could have been a god himself but he fell for a mortal woman and became human to be with her. The families pink hair comes from the dawn goddess and their gold eyes from Amaterasu. This was just me making fun little theories based on the hints you'd sprinkled in. Anyways love Yuuji being a little sun demigod good for him. Anyways I love Yuuji just casually being himself immediately forgiving rude behavior and making friends with a god as though it were no big deal. The death God's regret that he didn't take more time to get to know Yuuji was cute actually I don't think he's got much to worry about on that end though because he's going to be so busy that one human lifetime will pass in a flash and then he'll have plenty of time to hang with his new friend. Mai and Muta staying behind oh it hurts but it's also so so good! Mai will probably have a great time once she gets used to things she'll be honored as a hero in a God's court and she's so powerful now it's the complete opposite of her life with her old clan. I hope she becomes his right hand woman and achieves great things living a legendary life. Yuuji saying he's not trying to redeem Sukuna but he wants to be in the same purgatory one day damn. I could wax poetic about that forever actually. It's the love and acceptance ok. It's saying I can't save you from the consequences of your own actions but I still won't leave you alone. I will sit with you in hell. Sukuna's well hidden fear of hell too that was great. Ugh it was just a perfect chapter and you brought Toji back I can't wait to see where that goes. I still have more to say lol there's so much good stuff in this one but this comment is already getting long so I'll probably be back in your inbox later with another one haha. Until then thank you so much for writing and sharing with us!!
Thank you ; w ; I was nervous about this one as it has a lot of weird worldbuilding, much like the last fic, and always hit or miss if people enjoy that or not...I just like writing more epic action stories sometimes with more of the world/action ; w ; The death god has been planned for a LONG time, since dropping hints as the ending of this series of fic, the second to last curse, is so contingent on Yuuji having done something BIG that is shaking things up.
Mai and Muta had such sad deaths in the manga, like just always felt they had so much awfulness happen and never got anything to show for it. I like my angst, but I feel if there isn't hope, if there isn't any good payoff, then that death wasn't just, as Yuuji would say. Here, they choose to stay, but it is for reasons of seeking out a better path, not "dead" as much as "Living it up in the god court" ...so they can come back for plot reasons later *coughs* *coughs*
Sukuna making himself into twenty finger cursed objects to maybe be reincarnating instead of dying speaks to me that he does NOT want to die and may have a fear of what comes next, but that's just my headcanon I'm putting in here hehe.... as for the cave incident with a certain sun goddess...mmm....there is a connection there hehe!
I feel it is important for Sukita that Yuuji does NOT just handwave Sukuna being awful, but has an acceptance of it but full send, knows karma has to make this bastard boy pay for it all c: He might become better, do better, but it doesn't erase the past. There is a price to pay, one way or another.
Also Toji coming back was literally the whole reason this chapter exists. I wanted to bring him back. I stared to build the idea they somehow get him back from the afterlife. This chapter was always about bringing Toji back as the funny surprised twist from the day I started writing this fic XD Goes to show you how an idea can really morph over the course of a story!
Thank you as always for the wonderful comment!

Cale
If you were reborn as someone/something new, who or what would you want to be?
If you could meet someone who has died, who would it be?
How did you die?
Whatâs the last thing you remember before death?
Is the afterlife/undeath exactly as you pictured it to be?
Do you wish you were alive and mortal again?
Was Death frightening to you?
What have you learned since your death?
When you meet living people, are they afraid of you?
If you could be brought back to life, would you accept?
Ask My Muse About Death | Accepting!
If you were reborn as someone/something new, who or what would you want to be?
"I don't really want t' be someone new." Cale doesn't mean to sound irritated but it just comes out that way. This fun hypothetical feels a lot less fun to the already deceased. "I wish I had more time as me."
If you could meet someone who has died, who would it be?
"...a lot of people. Poets. Authors. Artists. Musicians. There's so much of our past that was buried t' make room for today." Cale sounds wistful, but bitter.
"Why were those books burned? Movies banned? Art destroyed?" Rhetorical when he already knows the answer. Knows that suppression comes before preservation. "There are love stories I'll never know. Architects whose names are gone. Myths. Recipes. Languages..." he notices only now that his fist is clenched, and relaxes the intangible tension. "...how can ya pick just one person, when every life has so much value, so much to teach? The mistake is believin' only some people have a story t' tell."
How did you die?
"...I... wasn't careful enough." He shifts, grasping at the incorporeal fabric of his hoodie. "Sometimes, ya trust the wrong people with the right information. I knew there would be a reward for my head eventually, just... thought I wasn't worth enough yet."
Whatâs the last thing you remember before death?
Morbid. Should have expected that in hindsight. "...gets fuzzy," he admits, though he might very well be tiptoeing around the subject. "The thing 'bout it is... not all your systems fail at once. Depends on where the damage is, y'know?" Maybe in that way, he's fairly human after all.
"Pretty sure some of my internals that write memories in the first place took a beatin' before I was actually 'dead' so... I sorta remember gettin' jumped but... if you're hopin' for some messed up play by play, you're outta luck."
Do you wish you were alive and mortal again?
"Every day." A pause, a frown. "The work ain't done yet. Had a lot of ambitions." I wanted to save the world. Reduced to nothing but a spectator. "Lots of things I left unsaid t' a lot of people." How many of them were left in the dark?
...how many of them still thought of him at all?
Was Death frightening to you?
"...no," it's said with a slow thoughtfulness. "...I found him... familiar. Comfortable, in a way. I prob'ly shouldn't have," an awkward laugh. "...but he reminds me of someone I know. It's... almost nice t' see him around sometimes..." a fond smile. "...his partner, too."
What have you learned since your death?
"Oh, lots of things," the android gestures vaguely with his hand to himself. "I mean primarily the fact robots have souls I guess," he sounds a bit sarcastic, but not at all meanspirited. "Or that there's an afterlife at all. Plenty 'bout myself too, but you don't have all day for that."
When you meet living people, are they afraid of you?
"...depends on the person. I think seein' any spirit can bother those that ain't used t' it. I'm just lucky 'm not the most gruesome lookin' guy floatin' around." He shrugs, for the most part unbothered. "Still get weird looks sometimes."
If you could be brought back to life, would you accept?
"....yes, but I'd... like a little warnin', first. Just cause I'm dead doesn't mean I've got nothin' goin' on. It's called the afterlife, y'know." A grin from the spirit. "There's at least one person I'd like some time with before that happens. He knows who he is."
