Translation Notes:

"Mineral Maniac" could also have been "Mineral Mania".

"Pre-game, fatigued" was a little ambiguous because the kanji at the end wasn't really a word, but the character had a potential meaning of "to become fatigued", so I just went with that.

"100% bedhead" was literally "all bedhead" or "complete bedhead."

All the sound effects were swapped out for more English-sounding ones. The "YAAAWN" was "Fwahh", the "SHING" was "PAAA", and the "Mnn" was "Naa".

"For the sake of research, the chosen dyes were applied..." was a little hard to parse and I feel like I might have missed some of the meaning. Literally it seemed something more like "for the good of research, the right/right-hand dyes were used on..."

"Boots from school for ease of mining" was also kind of weird, might have been saying something more like "cheap school mining boots [to be used for mining]"

The "Gal Who Studies the Playing Field" heading was literally something like "Game-Board Studying Guy [gender neutral]".

The "Gal Who Studies the Playing Field" heading and the same heading but with "Alternate" attached seem to kind of be swapped, but that was how it was on the original page, so I left it.

There is a drawing of a much more severe version of Giovanna with dark hair and a scholar's outfit. Some details are pointed out, including some suspenders on the back of the outfit and a small ice axe and case of mining accessories that she wears on her hip. There is also a caption that reads, "Uses the first gemstone she found on her own as a brooch." Another note points to her boots and reads, "Boots from school for ease of mining". An illustrator's note at the bottom of the page reads, "Using the uptight-looking young woman on the lower half as a springboard, she eventually became an eccentric character who's completely absorbed in researching stones and wears a lab coat over her underthings. I can't imagine being anywhere near as insane as Trump supporters because my dad told me that he, earlier, drove past a guy putting a "Harris Walz 2024" sign outside his house and decided to yell out at him "TRUMP 2024 YOU COCKSUCKER" and flip him off. And he laughed when he told me because he thinks that yelling at a man (emphasized man because he thinks men should be "better" than women, and "better" would be voting for Trump in this case) who is voting for a "whore who slept her way to the top" (his exact words) is funny. And expected me to laugh with him. And got angry when I didn't and just stared at him in disbelief. Even though he already knows that I don't like Donald Trump. These people fully expect others to find their weird ass derogatory words and behavior FUNNY. Donald Trump is leading a cult of old people who he brainwashed into being delusional with him.

Do you have a fun fact about Ororo? Like her likes & dislikes?

This is a great question because unfortunately in many comics, writers treat Storm from a very outside point of view and I guess hesitate to give us casual facts about her to preserve that big goddess vibe.

However, it is well known that Ororo absolutely loves plants! Compared to other X-Men, she has a very special bedroom in the mansion, which is the entire xavier's attic that she redecorated as a botanical garden! From the decorations we can also assume that she also has a great love for her kenyan culture ! Multiple issues show her visiting botanical gardens when she is in times of emotional distress. It means THAT much to her, I find it so cute.😭

A little less known fact is that Ororo loves knives! It was her only form of defense on the streets of Cairo as a kid before her powers manifested! So she's great at hand to hand and knife fighting but also seems to have genuine enjoyment for the object itself! You can see many Kenyan style knives and spears hung up on her bedroom walls overtime! Also, if we go off of this scene in the book Marauders, she's NEVER without multiple knives! (And lock picks, which is another fact I love about her. She's a great lock picker)

She also likes to catch a drink/lunch with close friends (Especially Jean)!! She likes that kind of fun gossip break from the day to day ruckus of battle.

In the second page issue she's more depicted as a no fun business only girl so it was Jean pushing her to go out but I don't fully believe in that characterisation. Sure, she's a home body but not that much.

As for her dislikes, I can't seem to remember the casual things she truly hates apart from her well known claustrophobia (that has disappeared overtime)😭 I'm inclined to say that makes her very open minded.

But Ororo is extremely annoyed by people who think they can boss her around like she's a newbie or something. She's a humble person for sure but she's extremely independent (her background again) and she knows what she's worth and how experienced she is so that makes her especially irritated by that kind of disrespect.

Bloggy Updates

Hey everyone! So it's been a hot minute since I've updated you guys on what's going on- nothing bad I promise! I wanted to come by and share with you my plans for the remainder of 2024 and possibly the start of 2025 regarding fics and such!

SO! Let's get into it!

September 2024

3 fics per week as per scheduled! I have plenty pre-written and set up for the month and only need to knock out two more to finish off the month! It's been a hectic year, but I'm feeling pretty good about them :3

October 2024

Tickletober!!! Weekly edition :D I'm gonna be 100%- I had no intentions originally of doing tickletober this year, but I got the itch and decided the one fic per week schedule would be easier on me while I figure out my new life schedule and all that good stuff.

Also did an extra day as a trade with my dear friend @gladdygirl18 for one of the days but I won't say which one- so look out for that one hehehe

November-December 2024

So here's where things get a littttle different. My plan going into these months and into 2025 is to cut back on fics by one, so instead of 3x a week (Mon, Wed, Fri), we're switching to 2x a week (Tues, Thurs). I think this would make it easier on myself while I navigate life changes and find my footing at my new job. Will this change be permanent? I don't know yet- it heavily depends on what goes on in life.

I'm sorry to everyone who enjoys the 3x a week schedule I've been doing for years- but I think as of right now it's the best solution I can come up with that preserves quality and quantity of the fics. Thank you for understanding!

I think that's everything? I might be missing details but as of right now I feel pretty good about my plans. Thank you all very much for sticking by me while I fluster through life. This past month was difficult, but I'm aiming to make September a better one, and the rest of the year! Keep being amazing y'all!

my girlfriend is trapped in a small town in idaho with no way to get out by herself

hey y'all, my girlfriend @desertthorn has given me permission to turn to tumblr for help on this one.

last year, my girlfriend's car broke down, leaving her stuck living in a small-town with no public transit, limited (expensive) grocery options, and even fewer job prospects. she's been working part-time in the only position she could find, and walking to and from work even in stormy weather.

the lack of options has left her living in a motel and struggling to afford groceries and other basic necessities each week. i can't even send her food on doordash when i have a little extra money, due to the rural area she's in (we're long-distance, but have met IRL).

we're both neurodivergent and struggling enough as it is in this capitalistic hellscape (as are like 99% of the population of tumblr, i know), and we want to relocate her to my state so we can be closer to each other (and, y'know, so she can finally afford to eat every day).

with her current (unavoidable) cost of living combined with low income, she's struggling to provide for her day-to-day needs – let alone save any money to get her car fixed. if i push my budget around, i can set aside enough to help her... in about 2 years.

unfortunately, this is going to require crowdfunding.

the estimate to fix her car was $2500, and we're about 10% of the way there (at time of posting this). if we exceed the goal, any additional funds will be put toward the costs of her eventual relocation.
