Welcome to Featured Fic Friday! A day where I, or someone who suggests one, tell you about a fanfic that I really enjoy! Spoiler's under the cut! Today's featured fic is...

you aren’t Real, but for him… for your little brother, you can pretend. (in which Sans is Papyrus’s imaginary friend, and magic is both a wonderful and terrifying thing.)

Sort of a long fic, I think this is a very interesting concept! There are plenty of stories focused on the backstory of the skeleton brothers, but I can't recall seeing one that has Sans be an imaginary friend aside from this one! The way that the author writes the idea is amazing as well!

I really like how the author includes reactions from other monsters regarding the brother's sudden appearance in Snowdin, since I think it adds to the world that they've expanded beyond the base game!

Not to mention how they give us snippets of some monster's reactions to not being able to remember Gaster, like Undyne wishing for someone to spar with or the Dreemurr's discussing needing to find a royal scientist! It's very clever!

Back to Reality

Oof, that's rough. We've all been able to see how these two made the night count, but check-out was at 10, so they're feeling it this morning. That, and, of course, they're returning to their reality, which is a cruel trick I'm playing on them.

Now that this little festive AU thing I did is ending, there's a few things I think I need to say about it all. Especially since I gained a few followers because of my seasonal AU posts (Hi! So happy to see you!) and I guess it's good to point out who these two characters are in the real story.

So, here's James and Sadie, friends and both leads in their band The Hot Wings. They're music students at Honeycomb University and there's... something... between them. There was a lot of built-up tension and eventually they slept together. Once. A lot of emotion followed and while they both claim it's not romantic, I'm not too sure. In the actual story we're going back to, it's getting close to Spring of 08 (I'll do a post on years and time and all that at some point) and there's a lot to come. For James and Sadie, and for my other characters as well. We have Rachel's Dating Adventure waiting in the wings and we'll be going back to "The Valley" to see how Joshua is doing, among others.

I loved doing this festive AU side story. To escape the writer's block I am currently dealing with and to give "Jadie" a chance to be together for a while. I added in the "I love yous", because they never get to say that in the actual story, other than in a friendly way, and it sort of floats in the air as unspoken words. Them saying it, at the point they did, was something I really wanted to do. To stress that in this AU, they really are both in love and committed to that love.

I was upset the spicy post got flagged though and hope it was just the prude Tumblr bots and it didn't get reported by someone. After all, it was both labelled and tagged appropriately, so if pixel nudity is not your thing, you could have easily avoided it. Also, if I do ever post something that offends someone, please let me know. I'd like to think I'm generally a nice person and quite easy to talk to, so drop me a line.

Anyway, I think the train is coming, so I have to go and make sure James and Sadie get on it. Time to go back to where they need to be. I'm sorry, my lovelies, I'll try to be nicer to you in future. I promise. Maybe.

Little life update

Hey there, lovely souls,

It's been a minute since we've connected, and I wanted to fill you in on what's been happening in my corner of the universe. Life has been throwing some serious curveballs my way lately, and it feels like I'm riding a rollercoaster with no end in sight.

First things first, if you've noticed a bit of radio silence on the fic front, let me explain. I've been dealing with some pretty heavy stuff behind the scenes. Long story short, I made the tough call to end an engagement. Yeah, it's as messy and heartbreaking as it sounds. Trying to untangle your life from someone else's is no picnic, let me tell you.

On top of that emotional rollercoaster, my health decided to take a nosedive. Cue the endless rounds of doctor's appointments, hospital stays, and medical dramas. It's like my body decided to throw a full-blown tantrum right when I least needed it. Thanks, universe.

Oh, and let's not forget everyone's favorite sidekick: anxiety. It's been hanging around like a persistent shadow, making every decision feel like I'm walking on eggshells. The future suddenly feels like this big, scary question mark, and I'm just trying to keep my head above water.

But you know what keeps me going? You guys. Seriously, your messages of support and understanding mean the world to me. Knowing that I've got this incredible community of kind-hearted souls cheering me on makes even the darkest days a little bit brighter.

And you know what else? Writing has been my saving grace through all of this. Escaping into fictional worlds and crafting stories has been my way of taking a breather from reality, if only for a little while. It's like therapy, but with more dragons and less awkward silences.

I'll be back with new stories and adventures as soon as life decides to cut me some slack. Until then, take care of yourselves, okay? We're all in this crazy journey together, and together, we'll weather the storm. But I'm not going anywhere

Haedrean Fics!

Haedrean fics (tags #hd-fics) are exclusively on Ao3 because I suck that way. My fandom ranges from PJO (Specifically on my Nico/Alabaster/Jason trope or like I love to call them Jalico cause it sounds like a cat's name), Jason Todd specifically because I'm a sucker for him and recently Naruto fics centred on Orochimaru and Uchiha Obito. I have a type and it's traumatised, dark and me convincing myself they're misunderstood.

These are my active fics: 1) Her Majesties Champions - A fic beginning around Post-Titan's Curse adventure of Nico, Jason and Alabaster Torrington. It's an AU whereby Nico and Jason are both also the demigod of Persephone and Juno due to reasons.

It's also an examination of if Primordials have proper power scaling and not just defeated from being dangled like a fish. And also if Triumvirate Holdings makes more sense because how on earth will they control the future if Gaea won? Bonus includes Butt Load of OCs just to fill in Camp Jupiter and all the other unexplored backstories because we're exploring that too

This fic was a result of me snooping around @drksanctuary's tumblr and getting sucked into Nicobaster hell. For some reason, Jason got dragged as well but that' because I was in the Jasico fandom when House of Hades came out.

2) Jason's Adventure in God Hood (Heh-God Hood) - This is a continuation of Great Hades (I'm Dead!) where Jason Todd is the son of Zagreus and Thanatos from the game Hades and must now navigate a life as a god while trying to face his past from Gotham City.

3) How To: Jason's Guide to Parenting Your Multidimensional Terrorist and Vainglorious Pretty Boy  - This fic focuses on Obito and Satoru by the power of some Unknown God (Not from Genshin Impact) are now fraternal twins and seven years old as they climb out of the Lazarus Pit bearing the DNA of none other than, you guessed it, Jason Todd. DC won't know what's coming to them.

A studyblr (re)introduction

It's hard to believe, but I started this blog in high school and I just graduated college. Since then, a lot has changed so I thought it might be time for an updated introduction

Program of study: PhD in Sociology (I'll be starting in August!)

Academic interests: political extremism, online interaction, identity, sociological and psychological theories of identity and group processes

Non-academic interests: reading (these days mostly mysteries/thrillers, AsAm lit, occasionally fantasy), cooking, and painting

As far as academics go, I've mostly done qualitative research but am starting to learn STATA and how to scrape data from social media sources. In the future, I want to work in research and I'd love to teach but the academic job market sure is icky so we will see lmao

Outside of academics, I used to be a lot more creative than I am these days but I am slowly trying to change that. I took up painting this year and am trying to get back into creative writing. I come from a big city and currently live in a much smaller area so I also like finding new places to go/things to do in my area like local fairs and mom and pop antique shops to explore

You know how the other eggs' lives are in constant danger? What if every other day or every few days you spun a wheel or flipped a coin to see if anything dangerous happened that and then picked out something randomized like mob attack or code attack and people had to draw how they saved the egg or vote on how to save them.

Idk, I just thought it was unfair that Ai doesn't have to encounter any of the dangers that the other eggs do and it might help spice up each week. Just so it's not just tasks and stuff.

True, events of some sort could be interesting. I don't want there to be too much actual danger for our little Ai, since I know as Autumn starts a lot of people get busy and I don't want this project to get legitimately stressful and/or end too early, but some sense of danger/some extra goal could be very fun.

Hmm... Alright, I'm going to throw this idea out there, and I'd like to see what people think of it, and anon tell me if this is something like what you're thinking.

Every week, probably starting on the Sunday update and ending on the Saturday one, there is an overarching mission/danger/ect that goes on for the whole week. Like the tasks, you can draw or write something for them, but you have a lot more time to do it so feel free to take your time and not rush.

If I have the time, I might see if I can make this be a sort of choose-your-own-adventure kind of thing, where common plot points from the responses could affect how that mission ended and affect future missions. Try to give this project some kind of ongoing story, you know? I think that would be fun. I like making stories, and this would be a very interesting format to do it in.

These events would not be required, but these also have the ability to change how this project goes. If there's a danger event, the more people take part, the safer they'll be at the conclusion of the event. If there's a positive event, people taking part will lead to more progress and happiness in that event. Plus, details of your art or story could influence future events.

If people are interested in this, I will consider the building-A1-a-room to be this week's event and start the next event next Sunday.

Also, I will be messing with the tags a little bit - adding one for event submissions and probably changing the task update to something else, since those aren't just tasks anymore and they're getting mixed up with some of my other tags. I'll update the tags list if I do.

I grew up watching the German Digimon Dub, and also played a lot of Digimon World, DW 2003, Rumble Arena, and more, in my childhood.

I love all original Digimon Anime seasons, Adventure to Savers. I haven't gotten around to watching any newer ones myself yet.

My favorite Digimon is Bearmon! If I had a Bearmon Partner Digimon, this would be the evolution line:

The Official Digimon Card Game Twitter didn't start sharing cards regularly until around BT-08, and anything before BT-05 is especially hard to find. I usually have to edit multiple versions of the image together. I hope you all appreciate the effort!

Y'know, I was gonna get to the rest of those starters today, maybe do some Samus replies, try to start some things with my new followers-

Unfortunately, I ordered a new bed frame, and it came early, so I am just wiped from putting that together...

But I don't wanna have accomplished nothing else today, so I'm give a small update on some side stuff I got going on;

Archie Sonic Book Club

For anyone new here, which would be most of you, I had the idea to read through an issue of the old Archie comics each day, as I'd never actually read them before, and share my thoughts on them. Sadly after the first issue, some life stuff happened and I forgot about it for a while.

So instead of it being a daily thing, I've decided to make it a once a week thing (Currently thinking Saturdays, but nothing set in stone yet). And instead of it being a single issue, I'll go over my thoughts on however many issues I read that week. Could be only a couple, could be like two whole volumes, could be none at all because I forgor, but I think giving it more of an open schedule will help me stay consistent with it.

It's going to be a long commitment, even longer because of a poll I did on my other accounts, I'm reading literally all of Archie Sonic. But I've always wanted to read these, and my portrayal of Sonic does try to mix together elements of every iteration of the series into one cohesive universe, and Archie is a big part of that. So here's hoping I can stick with it, and finally check it off my bucket list.

Chao Garden Updates

Another project I've been slowly whittling away at over the last few years is a series of streams documenting my journey to finally 100% Sonic Adventure 2. It's been a while since I've done one of those streams, and it'll probably be a bit longer before I start it back up again, but one of the biggest parts of that that I'm allowing myself to work on off camera is the Chao Garden.

Now I'm not allowed to do the races or karate, or get any more emblems, but I can raise up my chao to hopefully make conquering those a bit easier. And I kinda just wanna show the little guys off

I do have mods for it, mostly cosmetic stuff, but I also use Chao World Extended and Enhanced Chao World just to make things a bit more interesting, so they're going to be a bit... unique. I gave 'em little hats, and I have some mods for interesting evolutions (including one that is VERY cursed) and I'm hoping that having somewhere to share my progress might help me get back into it, and motivate me to keep doing it.

Just like with Archie Sonic, this would be a once a week thing (currently thinking Wednesdays, starting next week because it's too late to start now), so you're not gonna get spammed with this stuff. And both these will have their own tags so that you can ignore them entirely if they don't interest you.

I do also wanna do something Metroid related in the same vein as these, but I have no idea what (maybe checking out some romhacks? There's a ton I haven't tried out yet that are insanely popular), so I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any

Lastly, both of these things, and anything like them in the future are meant to be a community thing. I'm trying to socialize more, step out of my comfort zone (and just have more of a schedule in general but that's neither here nor there), and I find it easier to do that if people reach out first and if we have something to talk about.

So if you see those, I encourage you to leave comments, repost, engage in whatever way you want to if the topic interests you. You got thoughts on the bit of Archie I'm reading? I wanna hear them. You got memories of the chao garden and raising your lil guys, go ahead and share them! I promise, I don't bite, and I'm more scared of you than you are of me.

ahh 🍬 nonnie here !! that recipe you provided looks amazing. and i love that i'll be giving carrot cakes another go. seeing that i've been slightly allergic to (raw) carrots, i always assumed i wouldn't enjoy carrot muffins or carrot infused desserts until my mum made some for work and let me try a piece. my world quite literally changed from then and it's been a few years since i've last been able to eat said dessert 🤭

anywho, i think i'll be able to make it this weekend so i'm looking forward to it. i'll update you when i inevitably find myself enjoying the recipe. i just know i will :)

also from foodie to foodie, i hope we'll be able to trade more recipes in the future. the lockdown was the perfect oppurtunity for me to experiment and master the basics of cooking. it's the one big thing that's changed me during that two-year period.

p.p.s. it's only fair that i give you the recipe i used for my muffins so here it is :) another coworker who tried it said it would taste better with nuts in it so i would suggest adding as much of your favourite kind as you desire 🤭

yeeeesssss!!!!!! i hate carrots but carrot cake is a whole other entity. it disposes of the vegetable-ness of the carrot and turns it into pure goodness. ❤️ it also reminds me of one of my fave snoopy comic strips 😂:

always down to trade recipes! i think you've inspired me to start a new tag: kitchen adventures. it's really more proper to call it (mis)adventures, but i don't want to jinx my efforts 😂 i only started enjoying cooking during the lockdown too (omg there had to be at least one cooking/baking reference in the a/n's of bp 😂) but unlike you, i didn't bother to master it. i really only follow recipes when baking. the rest of the time, i just throw stuff in (and sometimes substitute stuff!) without measuring in typical asian cooking fashion.

BUUUUUUT i will definitely follow the recipe for your muffins! i might have all the ingredients on hand (not sure about the cocoa powder. gotta dig in the pantry for that!) so I'm suuuuuper excited to try it! hope i'm able to make time in the next couple of days for it ❤️

edit for p.s. some people add pineapple shreds to carrot cake! i don't know why and i don't know what it does, but one of my most fave versions of carrot cake is from a local chef who does just that! and tops if off with a tangy cream cheese frosting. delight in a bite, i tell you. 🤤
