a/n: as somebody who has always been hit in the face by a sports ball growing up, hopefully this is a meet cute that can actually happen to me but thats probably still unrealistic lol. anyways here's a short little ni-ki oneshot!! i still dont know how i feel about it but its good enough ε-(ｰдｰ) will most likely be posting my jongseob smau soon so that will be my main focus :)) so oneshots may not be posted as often cause this writer cannot multitask :p

Sitting in class, you continuously check your phone, counting down the time until class ends. 

You feel a nudge on your shoulder, waking you up from your daze. Turning to the person beside you, Danielle whispers to you. “Mr. Hong may be smart and nice, but why does his voice have to be so gentle?” She puts her head down on the desk. "Like, it makes me sooo sleepy.”

"Agreed,” you say as you check your phone again for what seems like the 127th time.

“Why do you keep checking your phone? You got a hot date?” Dani teases.

You roll your eyes and respond, “I wish. More like a date to the dentist. Have to leave as soon as class ends, or else I'll have to wait thirty minutes for the next train.”

"Well, that sucks,"  Dani sighs. "Honestly, knowing you, you may not be able to make it considering how slow you run.”

You slapped her arm. “Hey! So not true. I’m just preserving energy.”

“Mmhm. Sure.”

Five minutes before class ends, you start to pack your things, getting ready to dash outside the classroom.

As the bell rings, you quickly run down the stairs, saying a quick goodbye to Dani as well as Mr. Hong. You couldn’t really care as people gave you odd looks for rushing towards the train station; some people may have thought that you just really needed to take a shit.

On the way to the train station, you have to pass by the sports field. Being completely unaware of your surroundings, you fail to hear someone shout toward you.

“Hey! Heads up!”

All of a sudden, a hard object hits you square on the side of your head, making you lose balance and fall to the ground. 

Aware of your position on the ground, a wave of embarrassment took over. You lay there for a bit, not wanting to make eye contact with the people around you. “Not gonna lie, you would think somebody would come and ask me if I’m alright,” you thought.

As you start to get up from the ground, the sound of footsteps can be heard running towards you.

"Hey, are you okay?” A tired yet deep and husky voice says

You look up from your position, seeing a boy around your age with a baseball mitt around his hand. “Why is this man so freaking tall?”

You watch as he mouths words, but no actual sound is coming out of those plumped, nevertheless sort of chapped lips.

He shakes your shoulder lightly. “Excuse me, are you okay?”

You shake your head, getting out of your daze, although that may have been a mistake, seeing that it made you more dizzy.

The boy reaches his hand out, and you grab them as he hoists you back up.

“I’m so sorry, that was quite a hit; it must’ve hurt,” he starts. “Normally Jake has better aim, and when he doesn't, I can normally catch it,” he says as he scratches the nape of his neck.

“It’s completely fine; it totally doesn’t hurt at all.” You respond nonchalantly. 

“Do you want some ice? I can get someone to get you some," he says as he grabs your hand and pulls you towards the practice field. “Here, just come sit on the bench and I’ll grab you some ice,” he says as he ushers a team member to get some ice.

“No, no, it's okay. I'm good. Kind of running late for something anyway, plus it really doesn't hurt.” You attempt to stand up.

The boy gently pushes you back on the bench. "Look, I'm sure whatever you have to do can wait, cause even if you say it doesn't hurt, the side of your head is definitely saying something else.”

You reach up to where the ball hit you, feeling a swollen bump starting to form. “Fine, you can give me ice, but after that, I'll be on my way to the station.”

He gives you a stern look. “Um, no, we still have to go with the standard precautions. You could have a concussion right now.”

"Look, I'm sure if I had one, I would know.”

“No, you're staying here. Practice ends in fifteen minutes anyway. So stay put.” He hands you a plastic bag of ice that his teammate got.

Being left with no choice, you watch as he runs to the center of the field. Watching as he throws and catches the ball around.

Not really knowing anything about baseball, you plug your earbuds in and slowly close your eyes to rest. “I'm already late at this point; I might as well rest.”

Little did you know, resting your eyes caused a little misunderstanding with the boy that had helped you. As he practiced, he took small glances at you every now and then. Seeing your eyes start to close caused him to immediately think you were about to faint.

Worried that you just became unconscious, the boy was unaware of the baseball that was being thrown towards him.

With history repeating itself, the boy fell face flat to the ground, a swollen bump starting to form on his head.

Waking up from your quick nap, you look beside you to see the same boy holding an ice pack on his head, similar to you.

“What the hell just happened?” You questioned.

“You know it turns out Jake over there really does have bad aim,” he jokes. “Or maybe I was just a teensy bit worried about you.”

“Worried about what?”

He explains, "Well, you closed your eyes; I thought you had fainted.” 

"Well, I didn't.”

He sighs. “Yeah, I can see that now.”

The two of you guys sat there with an awkward silence surrounding you. Feeling a bit better, you decide to grab your things, turning toward the boy beside you.

“You know, I never got your name. It would be nice to know who my hero is.”

“I'm Nishimura Riki, but people just call me Ni-ki. You?”

“I'm YN. Nice to meet you, Ni-ki, and thanks for helping me.”

He smiles, “Anytime.”

As you begin to turn away, a faraway voice can be heard.

“Hey! Heads up!”

You turn around and see Ni-ki in front of you with a baseball in his hand.

He screams towards his teammate, “You know Jake, you really do have shit aim!”

A normal hug, where two people cross each other and are unable to see the other's face since it's over their shoulder, is just as it is: a normal hug. It can be seen as platonic and/or romantic.

THIS is a lot more intimate. 3 and 4's heads touch while they hold each other by the hand. This type of hug is reserved more for romantic partners when the situation leads them to a devasting end, where they face each other to look at and remember what their partner looked like, one last time before they die.

In this case, it makes sense as the computer is collapsing within itself.

I'm transmasc and I don't think I completely understand the discussion around TMA/TME.

I'm pretty sure I mostly agree with you. Like, "transandrophobia" is not a helpful or accurate description of the transmasc experience, and I can see how it could be used to belittle what transfems go through.

Transfems definitely get more attention from hate groups. Transmasc erasure sucks, but it can definitely be a blessing when the bigots are picking their targets.

I keep seeing posts comparing trans men to incels and MRAs. I haven't seen many transmascs who would warrant that comparison.

That's not to say it's necessarily an unfair comparison. On the contrary, it probably means that there's a lot of transmisogyny going around that I'm not seeing. And if I'm not seeing it, that probably means I'm inadvertently participating in it.

Ok I wanna answer this before I get too high (I'm honestly feeling it already). Thank you for the $20, when I realized I forgot to pack a lunch today that money helped me eat still so legit thank you.

So first off, "trans women get more attention from hate groups, transmasc erasure sucks but can be a blessing." (I can't copy and paste on this screen, so I'm paraphrasing) yes but I wouldn't call erasure a blessing, no matter who it's for. They're two sides of a very fucked coin, on the one side transfems get lots of attention and vitriol, and the erasure of transmascs makes it harder for some transmascs to understand they can be trans. But on top of that, the form of transfems we see are never real representation, 99% of the time it's a transmisogynistic ideal of trans women, it's the weirdo white boy spreading lipstick all over their face just before they smash the mirror in a fit of "dysphoria" kind of shit. Though transfems have extreme visibility, our actual selves are not visible, we are ultra violet rapist horn dogs or we're the super ignorant, super emotional crybaby.

And, a side tangent, cuz you sorta did a thing the transandrodorks do that is frustrating. It's not a measurement of what's "worse." That's not how oppression works, that's not what we are saying, we are talking about the forms of oppression.

Men are not oppressed for being men. They can be oppressed for a variety of things, racism, ableism, interphobia (is this the right term I forget), homophobia, etc etc. Masculinity is rewarded, masculinity is the desire, patriarchy exists so men get to be above women. Things like "misandry" do not exist, they are inventions of violently misogynistic men, your MRAs, your incels, your conservatives (this includes liberals btw).

The person who coined "transandrophobia" used to talk about wanting to correctively rape lesbians. I'm not gonna go at someone's kinks, but the blog was not presented as a kink blog, I literally went there myself and read the posts when this first popped off and they come off as true lesbophobia in the context of their blog and coupled with the misandry posting, this person literally looks like MRAs and incels. The defense the community uses is "it's a kink are you kink shaming?? It was on a private locked blog!" Which, the latter, no it wasn't, I literally went there and looked, and the former. Idk I think if you're saying you want correctively rape lesbians while also talking about misandry and counting "transandrophobia," you look misogynistic and homophobic.

The main writers people follow for transandrophobia related content are straight up liars, who make shit up, and one specific non horse entity consistently cites himself as his own "source" and when he doesn't, he cites terf blogs that are connected to kiwifarms and sites of the sort. They will take bits talked about in feminism and present it as a thing they discovered and present it as transandrophobia. Ie. "Men can't show any femininity and can't cry and that's misandry" despite things like this are discussed at length in feminist texts, men can't do these things cuz that makes them more "woman" in the societal lens. Yeah it's fucked, but it's misogyny, not misandry.

I am, consistently, misgendered by the transandrodorks, and so is every other trans woman that disagrees with them. And it's definitely intentional.

Then there are token trans women who don't know much of anything about feminism or transphobia and will straight up harass you for saying women are oppressed. They often weaponize transmisogyny against other transfems, they misgender, suicide bait, or in velvetvexations case, will stalk your blog for two days even though you ignore her and when she's sees you're on a date with your wife, she goes to your wife's blog and starts messaging her instead. Legit, this woman is one of the worst people on this website, the only reason she's not seen as communismkills 2 is cuz men like her.

On top of this, terfs consistently support "transandrophobia" as a concept and constantly say that transandrophobia is compatible with terf ideology. The transandrodork community is ripe with terfs and crypto terfs. Like that one who said he hoped a friend and I get raped, cuz saying "men arent oppressed" warrants wishing rape on people. Or the trans guy that outright said "trans women are male" and tripled down harder saying "trans women don't experience misogyny and oppress transmascs cuz they're really men," claims that were so wild that even velvetvexations couldn't agree with them lol.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: not every person that believes in transandrophobia is a bigot or a bad person. A lot are just young transmascs who are under read about oppression and history, and this terf/transphobe community swoops in and pretends to be representing them and sucks them in. For every disparaging transmisogynist piece, there's two more that are talking about the problems of transmascs. So when you tell these guys "that's a hate group" they don't remember the post calling trans women men, they remember stuff about T being super illegal. So they think we are attacking them for having a problem, not the actual bigotry on display.

Honestly, if these people would just stop misgendering trans women, they might have more trans women who'd be nice to em. But that's the consistent trend.

ok but more seriously LMAO i have an embarrassingly large amount of unanswered asks but i do read all of them <3 a lot of them honestly are just from folks like, sharing their anonymous opinions about either LO and LR, with the odd one about comic advice, sharing webtoon recommendations, and other things of that nature!

In the case of the LO asks, it's stuff that often has already been spoken about at length before so I don't really have anything to add (but trust me, I'm usually in total agreement, if I heavily disagree with a take I'll usually try to respond to it but it's rare that that's the case because most of the takes are just things like "wow the art in this panel sucks" like yep it sure do LOL) and often it just feels like my inbox is just like, a comment box for people to get their feelings out anonymously and honestly that's fine, I just also can't really respond to every single one unfortunately, but I do read them and I love y'all's takes!

With LR asks, y'all are way too sweet to me and send me just the kindest things about LR, and I hope y'all know that even if I wind up not getting back to your ask about it, I do read everything you send and appreciate so much the amount of support you've all shown for this project since I took it on <3 A lot of those asks are literally my version of "do it for her" where I read them and it reminds me of why it's so worth doing what I do :') <3

Whenever people recommend me other works to read, I add them to a list and I am currently trying to tackle it :) (honestly that list isn't as big as you'd think, a lot of the recommendations are for the same stuff, like other Greek myth retelling comics or otherwise just bad webtoons that people want me to suffer thru LOL) I just recently finally got a physical copy of Song of Achilles and while it's slow going, I'm gonna be sharing my extended thoughts about it, either in a big Tumblr post or maybe a video if I can motivate myself to do it 🤔

And of course, the comic advice asks... these ones admittedly I do tend to actually move into my drafts because I really, REALLY do want to respond to them, but I'm also not someone to half-ass responses to questions like that. That is a bit of a bad habit on my end because it often means I'm spending crazy amounts of time going over topics that can be researched, but I also just really love talking about comics so it doesn't feel good to get a comic advice ask and just leave it at "idk just start" like yeah, do that, but also I want to pass on all the things I WISH I had known when I was first starting out and I'm glad people see me as someone to learn those things from! So when it comes to those asks, don't worry, I'm picking away at them <3 (but also man, I should probably just like... put together some kind of hitchhiker's guide to comic making or something huh LOL)

Anyways! *sigh* soooo, was anyone surprised that yes man (Rome) and Jahla would sleep together? because I certainly was not. to be fair his character in my eyes came off wayy to strong in admitting he had feelings for a stranger he barely knew. and still doesn't. he just came off as some random character put into the comic for NSFW purposes. cause well if you've seen those concerning bonus pages with fucked up anatomy then yeahh. he's the definition of someone wanting to get into someones else's pants desperately. now i'm gonna go off track a bit in regards of the recent pages and rant. I read a comicfury comment cause well i'm always interested what the public says. we'll just say most are suck ups for what happens in the pages. but one comment paragraph stuck out to me like a sore thumb.  ""I'm glad he's becoming a bigger part of the comic"" now I will not be hating on this person and their take on the matter as well as their own opinions. But i'm allowed to have my own. and just.. how? Rome has done absolutely nothing in the comic to be deemed important. he's like a NPC in a game that happens to be one of those story love interests where you make your own choices from. for example. life is strange. he just exists? heck Thakir is a minor character did all the heavy work building the tribe and rome just I don't know was kissing jahla's ass the whole time? what has he been doing that's important? if we'd actually see him do things that drove the story further or Jahla as a character I guess. but he doesn't, he appears when jahla is another female character playing damsel in distress cause kique deemed it that way. Also I honestly hold no pity for Jahla in this page, she hasn't done anything either and try and be a good representative for her tribe being a group of misfits. she hasn't earned the right to be moping cause she hasn't done anything. and I think thakir had every right to ask her question that are deemed important. yes his character came off as asking probably too many at once, but also having a brain and asking things that the entirety of public readers with a brain ask still because nothing has yet to be answered. I'll never ship Jahla and rome together personally as their is zero chemistry compared to when are and Rhov first met. yet they were together for a much longer time and from what I know. it was confirmed that they never even slept together yet. and honestly it was nice change of pace to know that. plus Rhov challenged her and that what jahla needs. them breaking up over something so minuscule was very disappointing. I miss them compared to what we have now. their relationship felt a bit more realistic. but now we just have this constant cycle that sleeping with others and pushing yourself into relationships apparently is magical and makes your problems go away :/ it's not a healthy coping mechanism and sends a bad message to people. I think I'll start off with my thoughts on the official playlists for the characters as my thoughts are more shorter. I like them! You can tell the characters are older with their tastes lmaoo. Theyre still pretty good though. My personal favorites are Juan Carlos' and Juanín's as they're more my tastes lol. I feel like the playlists say something about the characters. Off the top of my head, Juanín's playlist is filled with sad love songs with themes of longing for something good. And his character just so happens to deal with shitty friendships. I feel like we can assume he values friendship a lot because he tolerates so much of his friends' bullshit and still sticks around and cares for them a lot. And ofc he wouldn't like that so I can assume he just wants better. At least, that's what I get from it. I just care about Juanín a lot 😭

As for og Poli, I have several thoughts. First off, he's very funny 💀 I love how mean he can be like you go girl. Policarpo is honestly, just a superficial person. He's fake and a snake and he has pride. He gets friends and family he knows for the top rankings. He'll take bribes for who'll be the top ranking. (as seen in that one season finale) He's one of the several mean, superficial, and insecure characters on the show (ie tulio, bodoque) He has gossip on everyone and is willing to reveal things to humiliate others or just for entertainment. He is willing to screw others over for whatever reasons. And of course, when you're in an already mean environment, you're gonna get mean. I feel like bc of all the puppets' insecurities and their proneness to being mean, it ends up making the others even meaner in a bad cycle. Policarpo cares about his image. A lot. He is very careful to keep a tidy image. When it got revealed that he was bald, this caused an international scandal (💀). And it genuinely hurt Policarpo a lot. He had to rely on his friends to reassure him (and even then they still initially laughed at him. Assholes 💀) He cares about not only his public image but even his image amongst his friends. None of his friends even knew he was bald (and tbf, I wouldn't tell them that either they fucking suck) The first time he presented feminine, everyone was surprised. While it seems like they know Policarpo, they also don't at all. And Poli probably does that on purpose. Maybe bc his friends are shit. Maybe bc he just doesn't trust anyone with personal information like that. He doesn't trust them to present femininely more often around them. He doesn't like to admit that he's dressing femininely whenever he dresses very femininely. Even when his friends already know. It's sad to think about honestly. He's one of the several characters with low confidence in being their genuine selves and would rather cover it up with a (near) perfect image, superficiality, and meanness. They try to be in control of their image as much as they can but that's just impossible. To get over this unhealthy way of coping, they'll have to realize it's alright to be imperfect. But in an environment where everyone laughs at each other for the smallest things + general mistreatment, that's near impossible.

Idk how to explain it but this series feels so latino bc of the way the characters cope like actual traumatized/mistreated latinos do. Idk man 💀

Oh god I just finished Book 2 and it was so bad… I went into this with an open mind just like I did with Book 1 and god did I hate this. Clem just annoyed the hell out of me for the entire book. I liked everyone BUT her, Ricca and Morro. And I don’t even hate Morro she just showed up randomly to say weird ominous shit and then went to do her walker autopsies. Idk… it just sucked so hard. I miss Amos.

I've reread it and I'm working on my review so I won't go into a whole spiel but yeah. I mean, I still think I like Book Two over Book One... until we get to chapter 7. It has the same problem as Book One where the ending is just bad.

Clementine still feels out of character when you compare her to game Clementine, but she's consistent with Book One Clementine. I get what her character's supposed to be and why she's going through these things, why she approaches things the way she does but it makes it hard to enjoy when you have context from the games. I've already seen Clementine grow up and face hardships in the apocalypse, and the games have the advantage of showing all that across four games whereas this series only gets three books, so we don't have time to waste, y'know?

But Morro was the biggest wasted opportunity, like... what a disappointment. When I read it the first time, I was giving my first reactions in chat with Pi and we were both like, "So it's gonna be revealed that Morro's actually doing science experiments on walkers, right?" but no.... she's literally just doing autopsies like c'mon, walker science experiments and abominations would've been amazing!

And Ricca... honestly, I like the idea of Ricca because let's be real, a lot of us wear glasses or contacts or have some sort of vision impairment, myself included, and a zombie apocalypse would suck! If my glasses broke and I had no means of getting a new pair and it's the zombie apocalypse, I'm dead. And Book One set up this interesting story where Ricca's brother was an abuser who purposely broke her glasses so that she had no choice but to rely on him, then when she finally found pair that worked, she left him. But now her eyesight is worsening, and that's scary, that's something I could sympathize with...... but it's almost treated like an inconvenience? Because her and Clementine's relationship is the emotional drama that takes stage and frankly, I don't like clemricca. Not just because it's not clouis. I went into it with an open mind wanting to ship it but... meh.

I don't like how Ricca's like, "I'll wait for you," and then later she gets butthurt because Clementine won't get on the same level as her fast enough. Clementine doesn't owe Ricca anything, y'know? But Ricca is like "I love you, and I know you love me too, but I need you to love me always, not start and stop. It's not fair, you want me to wait for the impossible!?" Stop trying to guilt her when she's clearly not ready for a relationship? I get the frustration but c'mon.

And then there's chapter 9 which... I'm honestly this close to losing my shit with people. I don't think I've ever been as disappointed or disgusted of the fandom than I have seeing people send threats to Tillie on her instagram over chapter 9. She posted about how Book Two released AND she gave birth to her son on Oct 4th, and you go to the comments and there are just people calling her a pedophile and writing threats-

I read a comment on reddit where someone compared Clementine Book Two to 50 Shades of Grey because there's an explicit sex scene and uhm NO??? First of all, I'd like to thank you for this kind message! Honestly, back then I didn't have the best relationship with writing and I always ended up thinking that whatever I wrote was garbage after some time; I even contemplated deleting my whole AO3 account and never going back, though thankfully that did NOT happen. It would've been a disaster if I had let the nasty thoughts win.

Thankfully, that has changed now (who would've thought that actually developing a good writing schedule and actually being kind to yourself would do that to you, huh?), but I do feel bad for deleting it all and I'd like to apologize for it, even if it doesn't change anything. There were people who genuinely loved them, and now it's all gone and they can't enjoy them anymore. Takabe headcanons (SFW + NSFT)

• A good ol' gentleman. Will open doors for you, pull your chair back for you, open the car door then take your hand. If you eat out, he's paying for it, not even letting you take out your wallet, no sir. Not to mention the gifts; necklaces and bracelets and things like that, which sometimes are on the VERY expensive side. Not that he minds spending money on you though. 

• He is on the protective side, almost as much as he is with his boys. You can bet that, if someone messes with you and he finds out, it's gonna take A LOT to stop him from taking matters into his own hands, depending on how severe the offense was. Murder is not on the list, but everything else is fair game for him. 

• He doesn't flaunt you around, but if someone asks, he's not about to keep you a secret either. His boys tried to tease him once about you, and all he did was nod and shrug it off, no sign of embarrassment on his face. They haven't tried to pull any of that ever since. Point taken. 

• Generally pretty vanilla, actually. He's more of a love-making kinda guy—the one exception being when he's had an absolutely awful day at the office and needs to let out the stress. It's like he forgets his own strength, which usually results in many, MANY marks all over that are hard to cover up. Expect the absolute sweetest aftercare in the world to make up for that. 

• Call. Him. "Sir". He's heard that plenty from his boys, sure, but this? This is another thing entirely. Something about seeing his partner writhing under him and screaming for "Sir, give it to me harder!" Not that his boys need to know that one though. 

• Expect to be praised for the smallest things. He can't help it, he really can't. You'd be sucking him off and he'll inevitably end up petting your hair and praising you for a job well done—bonus points if said blowjob happens under his desk at the office and there is a chance you might get caught by some random Seiryu grunt.

SIF2 was a mistake.

God I have a lot of feelings about it. This is probably going to get rambly as hell.

Even if SIF2 kinda sucked I had still planned on getting EN just because I want to play a LL game again (i don't really understand linklike's gameplay so I'm hoping someone makes a guide now that SIF is dead in a ditch). I'm... probably not going to bother now. Maybe I'll get it to play some charts, maybe not now i've just remembered how much storage it takes as well.

Announcing your game's EOS date in the same tweet as announcing the launch month (not even a date) is insane. What the hell even. Like, this is genuinely such a PR disaster that it broke containment so badly. LL became talked about worldwide and... relevant, i guess, for the first time in years. We got on saved you a click. We got on gamesradar. Head in hands.

Like, I get why they're still launching it. Obviously staff have worked their asses off for over a year on this to the point they already had to push it back, and suddenly scrapping that plus telling fans who'd waited a year for this that they weren't even getting it is a bit shit. You can tell the only reason they're releasing it is because of this, because there's no reason for it to outlive the JP server.

I have no doubt that this was dumped on EN staff last minute. They retweeted the JP shutdown notice to the EN account for crying out loud. This wasn't meant to happen it clearly was JP staff deciding the game was failing and pulling the plug.

Even from the JP side of things it was a very last minute decision LIKE COME ON. Wien and Tomari were added last month and their only UR cards are their fucking birthday cards. That's it the event schedules have been released ahead of time they aren't getting more URs. They're having to release Shizuku, Kinako, You and Maki's URs early bc the game didn't even live to their birthdays. This wasn't meant to happen.

Not even just on EN side but SIF as a series dying is a massive thing. Like sure we still have Paradise and SIFAC wai wai, but Paradise is. well... and Waiwai is actually decent but outdated and doesn't receive updates because there's nothing to port bc they don't do SIFAC anymore. SIF dying also means u's is actually proper dead now. Like. yeah no more u's aside from the occasional LLdays illustration and annual new years stream (we don't even get thanksgiving fes anymore god). We're not gonna get N girl content anymore either bro it's so over for LL.

SIF1 was outdated and probably should've had a sequel game released that was still a similar enough game (aka not sifas) just updated to get with the times. Honestly to this day I still think SIF had the best F2P accessibility out of any game, as well as the best team building system (bc. well it actually had one like you actually had to strategically build your teams). If SIF2 wanted to be good all it had to do was add L2D (and like ACTUAL L2D not what they did in SIF2 where they slightly animated the sprites), update the gacha animation, give us cards closer to the quality of SIFAS (or even better bandori or proseka), and add 3DMV or something. Literally just make SIF1 with proseka/bandori features. You don't even have to make the story better because it isn't even canon. And what we got was SIF1 with better UI and card art, and everything else was worse including the gameplay because they broke sliders.

The fact they shut down the original game for this, and possibly even SIFAS. It's insane how poorly this was managed. Saw a tweet earlier about how fucked up it is how Nijigaku have several songs based on in-game stories from both SIFAS and SIF2 and both of them are just. Lost media ig now. Even SIF1 stories are lost media because no where archived them. God that's so fucked actually like so much content just gone forever. EVEN OFFICIAL NOVEL TRANSLATIONS WERE IN SIF1 AND THEY'RE JUST GONE.

It's insane to think that the best LL rhythm game now is an outdated PS4 arcade port (the best game is actually linklike but it's not really much a rhythm game). Other than that there's * checks notes * Tokimeki RunRuns, Blaze in the Deep Blue, Numazu in the Mirage, and the upcoming Niji game. None of which are rhythm games.

I saw some people discussing that maybe that cross-unit live that's bringing back saint snow will have a new game announcement and while I doubt SIF3 i honestly kinda hope there's something coming with that concert. Even if it's a fucking bandori/prsk reskin or even SIFAS2 I don't care I just want to have faith in this franchise because it means a lot to me.

i remember being your age range, and puberty did suck at first and was very jarring to go thru. so i get the whole "being terrified" aspect. also, who wants to grow up? no one.

so the body imagine issues, i 1000% understand and know where you are coming from. i started puberty at 10 and it was a wild ride for me to start almost immediately developing. the good thing to know that while your body is changing, so is your mind. and while you might not like what your body looks like right now, just know that it's gonna keep changing. and that can be a good thing. there might be parts of yourself that you hate rn that you're gonna love when you get older. i think your best bet, and something i wasn't really ever taught, is to be kind to yourself. you are not the first person ever experience what you're going thru. and even tho change can be scary, it's not something to fear itself. change is necessary too. but one day, the change you are experiencing now will feel normal, and you won't even remember what you currently feel like. it might take a while to get to that point, but suddenly you'll feel settled, and you won't even noticed when that shift occurred.

also, as someone who is significantly older than you, i can confidently say that being a teenager was a lot of fun. hindsight is 20/20, so part of that does come into play. but seriously, growing up can be fun, even if it's a bit scary. being a teenager was dramatic and dumb and silly, and honestly there has been no other time in my life like that. i can look back fondly on that time now, and also admit there were moments that sucked. but that is life. don't be afraid of getting older - you can't stop it even if you wanted to. plus, there are so many good things that come with getting older. knowledge being the most important one. hindsight is another.

i would like to also add, just bc you are getting older, doesn't mean you have to let go of "childish" things. at 13 years old, i liked twilight, the jonas brothers, and bratz dolls. and wouldn't you believe it, at 28 years old i also still love all of those things loudly lol you don't have to let go of the things you love just bc you're getting older. things that bring you joy and comfort are few and far between in life, so if you enjoy something now, hold onto it as long as you need to. as long as it's not holding you back from achieving things or living your best life, there's no reason to stop loving what you love.

as for your parents, i do find that quite odd that they would do that in front of you. i'm sorry that that is something that happens. it also seems as if your parents are a bit dismissive about your feelings, and as someone who was also called "sensitive" and "a cry baby" (not directly from my parents… but also directly from my parents)- i get it. i'll tell you, i still deal with stuff like that to this day, so honestly the best thing you can do is try not to let it get under your skin. i know that's such a cliche thing to say, since it's not really an answer, but whatever way you gotta do that - do it. if you can, walk out of the room when they start talking about it. zone out, go to your happy place. find a spot on the wall and stare at it until their voices get drowned out. honestly, when ppl like that exist in your life, aka ppl that find enjoyment out of teasing you bc they know how to piss you off, don't let them enjoy it. don't let them see your reaction. if you stop giving them what they want (most likely a reaction of some type), they'll stop. or eventually, you'll learn not to let it effect you.

as for the conversation to have with your dad, i'm not sure what the best course of action is for you. i definitely think you should have it, especially if that is something you really want. maybe lay out why it would be such a positive for you to go to public school. talk about how socializing is something you need. talk about wanting to make friends that aren't just immediate family. talk about maybe wanting to do extracurriculars which your parents can't really give you at home. obviously, you know your dad better than i do, so work within the confines of what you know is safe and appropriate.

and if he does make fun of you and reprimands you, i'm sorry. but don't get knocked down if he does. there is plenty of time for things to change, so hold onto that.

also, i have to tell you since you are so young, please consider not being online. i know, the world kinda revolves around being online. but genuinely one of the things i regret doing as a young kid was being online bc i saw things i couldn't unsee. i read a lot of inappropriate fan fiction at that age that i shouldn't of bc i thought "oh who cares i'm basically an adult". keep your innocence as long as you can. you will be better for it in the long run.

Slenderman and eyeless jack live within the same woods, with slenderman having his oldass mansion (fight me, im adding the mansion to the au, but its not going to be nearly as extravagant and cozy as the fanon) and eyeless jack with his little cabin

Slenderman is the only real permanent resident of the manor; anyone who comes to live inside it are usually temporary. Be that because its them choosing to leave, or they are forced to leave and are no longer welcome. Though I think Slenderman would have a fair amount of leniency, given the fact that's he's seen it all. So save for a few people or behaviors, his door is open

Even Hoodie and Masky don't live with him, since they still have their own... autonomy..? To an extent they're still Brian and Tim, living fairly normal lives until the big man needs them to do his dirty work

The closest that lives with him is Kate; who's in proxy mode all of the time. Downside, she's not fully loyal to Slenderman. Actually she's not fully loyal to anyone, and she rarely ever enters the mansion. Rather, she's running off doing her own thing in the woods. Just a feral person, really. That's not to say she isn't dangerous or unintelligent, though. She may be aggressive and reclusive but she knows how to lure in people and set up traps

That's about it on Kate; I'm still building up what I want her character and role in the au to be, and honestly? I forgot who she was for a hot minute <\3

Ben doesn't have a physical body, most of the time. I'll elaborate more on that in a second.

Basically, he's more or less completely bound to electronics, and can only really interact with people through it. Good news is he can hop from device to device, though I'm still working out the limitations of that... usually hangs out in Jeff's old ass flip phone.

Yes it's specifically a flip phone, doesn't matter the brand. Reason is is because I think it'd be funny if Ben and Jeff got into an argument and Jeff just. Shuts it when Ben is mid sentence

Moving on, Ben and Jeffs whole thing is meant to work as an anti/opposite to the jane and laughing jill plot; two characters partnering up against one another for their own goals

Jane, jeff, and nina are 23, 24, and 22 (respectively)

Tim and Brian are both in their early 30s, and Kate is roughly 27

Eyeless Jack physically is about 25, but mentally he's not much older

Main reason for the time skip is because I SUCK at writing kid/teen characters 😭😭 so unless someones a ghost kid or something, assume they're an adult

My Favorite versions of Peter Parker

Spider-Man has been adapted a lot in the media over the years. Japanese Tv shows, movies, games, animated series, and so on.

It's hard to settle what would exactly be the "ideal" version of Peter Parker since every writer who tries to handle him offers their own spin on what Spider-Man should represent and why he's such a good character.

I myself wouldn't say that I have a definitive Peter Parker, but I do have several versions of the dude which I gravitate towards the most. Be it because they capture the sense of tragedy, the sense of getting up after being knocked down, the sense of friendliness, or even just the sense of humor that appeal to me so much, so I felt it would be fun to talk a little about my favorite versions of him and why I enjoy them so much!

So let's do exactly that...

Ultimate Spider-Man

I'll admit I never read much of the comics of the classic 616 Spider-Man, but I did read the entire run of Ultimate Spider-Man by Brian Bendis, and I honestly really liked it.

This Peter is what I would describe as the "Puberty Spider-Man." This is a Spidey that represents what's like to be a teen trying to be a hero and slowly learning how the real world works and... how much a lot of it sucks.

It's a Spider-Man that's being challenged into continuing being a hero even though he's constantly getting disappointed by the adult world around him. Doesn't matter if it's villains, heroes, allies, teachers, or his own boss, this is a Peter who keeps being exposed to how selfish and self-centered people can be, how ready they are to use or throw away others to fulfill their goals, and how now that he turned himself into someone important, he needs to decide who will he allow to use him or if he will allow it at all.

It's kinda depressing cause you see this young boy just going into this hero thing and being all "I'm gonna save people!" and then learning that it's a lot more complicated than that.

But that just makes it all the more impressive that he does keep going and doing the right thing, even with the bureaucracy of the adult world trying to swallow his motivation.

He's the Peter that was forced to grow up, but still managed to grow up as a good person who knows how to do the right thing, despite how hard the world around him tried to convince him otherwise.

Peter B. Parker

This is the "Almost lost cause Spider-Man." One of the great themes around Spider-Man is that he never gives up, never quits, never stops doing what's right, but in this case we have a Peter that almost, ALMOST indeed gave up.

Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances, this Peter ended up reaching his lowest point after losing nearly everything he cared about and feeling like there was no reason to keep going. And yet, despite everything that happened to him and having all the reason to give up and let go of the mask, he still managed to bounce back.

All because he ended up meeting a little boy that needed a hero, and thanks to that little boy he managed to find in himself the will to be that hero once again resulting in not only helping him, but the boy helping Peter as well.

And now, because he decided to try one last time and take the risk with one last "leap of faith" this Peter managed to find happiness once again.

He is a guy that managed to get up after reaching his lowest point, and not only managed to bounce back but went even further and achieved a happy life with the family he never knew he wanted and needed after being inspired by a confused boy who was also just trying his best to find his place in the world.

This Peter shows how healing helping others can be, and why even when there are times you think nothing else matters there will always be something that matters.

He shows that you're never too old to learn or too lost to find yourself.

Insomniac Peter

This is the "Friendly Spider-Man." The best way I can describe this Peter is that he's incredibly wholesome and kind.

He's the dude that actually tries to chat with the people of the city and make them see that he's just a guy no different than any of them, a very humble dude, the kind you want to hang out with because you know you two would get along super well.

You can even see in his type of humor like when he's fighting Vulture and Electro and making jokes about Rocky and getting excited that one of them got it. Or in the DLC where he tries to get a high-five from Silver Sable. This is a Spidey that wants to get along with the people around him.

He's not just a hero that punches bad guys, he wants to actually help them out. It's the one that comes to my mind when I think of "Friendly neighborhood Spider-Man."

This is the kind of dude you want living in your city, cause you know you can count on him when you have a problem, and this is exactly what a superhero should do, make you feel like you're safe and in good hands.

Amazing Spider-Man

This is the "Struggling Spider-Man."

He's the one that you feel sorry for because everything that could possibly go wrong with this guy always go wrong, and yes, being miserable is a thing that happens to every version of Peter Parker... But something about the way this Peter responds to it really works for me.

It's the fact that you can tell he's trying to keep his problems inside while still doing the job that needs to be done. He's not pretending his struggles don't exist or letting them completely take over him, he's just trying his best to keep going since he knows Spider-Man is needed, even if life may not be so kind to him.

Each live-action Spider-Man handles how they react to their struggles in their own way. With Tobey you can really feel how it destroys him inside sometimes and with Tom it feels like he hasn't even processed the severity of what happened until it happens.

Andrew's Spidey feels like he's trying his best to stay optimistic, stay on the right path, keep fighting the good fight, despite the fact that inside he might be carrying a lot of pain.

He's a Spider-Man that I really respect because he captures the harshness of facing these struggles but also the strength to face them and keep going.

Spectacular Spider-Man

This is my favorite version of Spider-Man. Is it perfect? No. Does it capture the essence of what makes Peter Parker Peter Parker? Who knows. But when I think of Spider-Man, this is the first image that comes to my mind.

He's the "born leader Spider-Man." The kind of guy that will jump into battle with 5 different plans already formed in his head, and if they all fail he'll just come up with another 20 more because he knows he has a job to do and people to save.

This Spidey is the embodiment of confidence. Anytime he sees someone in danger he instantly goes into "have a job to do" mode and starts formulating how to best deal with the situation while making full use of all of his skills and gadgets while also taking full advantage of the environment and even his own opponents as he learns about them.

He always feel like he's in control of the situation, and even when he fails he's quick to adapt to the situation and try the next thing. He doesn't just dwell on his mistakes, he accepts them, learns, and moves on like an adult.

I love this Spidey because he at times feels like the ideal version of what a mature Peter would look like. You sense no hesitation or fear when you look at him, you just feel that if you're in trouble and he shows up you're gonna be okay because this guy always gives 200% to get the job done.

Even though this is one of the "jokiest" Spider-Mans, you still know he is taking his job of saving people completely serious. If he falls, he just gets up. If a plan fails, he thinks of another one. If the enemy is strong, then he just starts acting smarter. He always has his head in the game and always sure that he has what he needs to save the day.

And I think that's it. Confidence, friendliness, growth, persistence, hope, strength, humor, intelligence, kindness, there are a lot of things to like about Spider-man and a lot of ways to adapt this character into the media while focusing on his several qualities.

These were the ones that stood out the most to me and these are the qualities about them that made them stand out so much.

I know Spider-Man might be going through some rough times right now in the comics, but I still love the character, still think he means a lot to me, and still hope to see more of what makes him so great in the future as well!

Rwby has consistency? Yeah its consistently disappointing and dogshit. Trust me I know all about DC's retcons, bad stories, nonsensical decisions that the writers make that make the characters worse. Wanna know the difference between RWBY and DC? Rwby has had only a few interpretations, the main canon, the crossover, ice queendom, the books, the antholgy manga, a few comics (some being dc crossovers again), and rwby chibi. And half of those can even be considered pseudo canon. With DC? They have had DECADES of comics, movies, cartoons, TV shows, and all sorts of different adoptions. Because DC is bigger they can have alot of bad, but SOOOO MUCH more good.

Next up, dont bring Monty into this. I wont discredit his work and im not gonna say "this wasnt how he wanted rwby" or anything like this. Let the guy be. This is specifically going towards Miles and Kerry, I wanna have faith they're good people, twitter says otherwise for Miles. I know they can make some decent writing, early rwby, camp camp, they even wrote some of RVB. They haven't made anything good nowadays which is why im mad, I know they can write but keep fucking up!

[Do I have a favorite Vegeta moment? Canon wise? Uh. For badassery, his fight with 19. He finally became a Super Saiyan and obliterated that fucker. He worked hard for that moment and I was big proud of him...even if 20 minutes after he gets too cocky and gets his shit kicked in by 18 as is the Way of Vegeta. Plus it was his last decent sized win. I also really like when Goku trolls him on the lookout once he gets out of the time chamber. It's too funny.

Favorite like overall? Barring how Super kinda buries it and pretends it didn't happen and how fans misinterpret Buu Saga Vegeta entirely, I think overall favorite moment is him finally finally FINALLY conceding Goku is better than him at the end of the Buu Saga. That moment is him healing, him realizing he hadn't lived for himself or his own life as he obsessed over surpassing Goku, doing what Goku did to get stronger, instead of taking advantage of his freedom from Frieza and doing his own thing. It was supposed to be his moment of self-reckoning and actually moving forward with himself but...well, Super really likes to keep the obsessed with surpassing Goku thing alive. It's not as it could be, but they also continue to be wishy washy with Vegeta. But another convo that I'm sure I've rambled about before. Basically, i like this moment because it's him really healing for the first time and I love that. I disagree with the direction they go because I think that reckoning would bring about A LOT of shit that he never contended with and things he would question and want to change, but it's still a really great moment for him that I don't think gets talked about in the right way enough.

Least favorite. God can i just say 95% of the time he's on screen in Super? I'll pick something outside of Super, how about that? Hm...I'll keep the theme of character alone here. Going along with my favorite, I'll say Majin Vegeta because if you really dig in and think about it, for his character, it shows just how low and desperate he is. Is it badass and is the fight with Goku pretty badass? Sure. It was nice to see Vegeta be ruthless again to some degree. It was great to get to see him and Goku duke it out. However, there's always the looming OOF over the whole thing because a healthy Vegeta wouldn't have made that decision. A healthy Vegeta would have never allowed anyone to potentially control him, let alone give him a power boost. But he never healed from all his trauma, nor was he given space to, and his decision to do the Majin Vegeta thing shows it. Man was not happy or satisfied or content or anything else along those lines with his life and achieving his goals and it's honestly sad. So cool as the moment can be for shallow reasons, in depth, it's probably his saddest moment. And i guess that doesn't mean I dislike it, but looking at it from just as a character standpoint, that's his worst moment. Right up there with swearing off fighting after Cell. Hits hard.

Again sticking with the other response, I'll pick one that's more I hate it because it sucks. Trying to not pick from Super again uuuuh...God my first thought was letting Cell go perfect but I can't even hate that because it's so him 🤣🤣. Same reason why i can't hate getting his shit kicked in by 18; he deserved it. How is this one harder when the character was so shittily written lmao. I guess it's because so many of his moments I'm just like "welp that tracks" so I can't dislike it. I'll go with a Z movie. I hate how they wrote him in the Z Broly movie. Like I get he's feeling pretty down and out but damn. When has that stopped Vegeta? And I get this is saiyan legend coming to fruition and Broly is a monster but again I posit to you: when has that fucking stopped Vegeta? Man thought HE was the legendary Super Saiyan for a whole saga, you think he's gonna roll over and let someone ELSE take the title? Nah. Not today, Satan.

So uh, I finished Into the Pit. It had issues. a lot, in my opinion. I really wanna get my thoughts out because it wasn't a very good experience for me and I'm kind of frustrated about it, but I don't want to upset people who may not want to hear it, so, I'll keep it below the cut.

Okay, I'm gonna try to structure this as best I can..

So obviously since I wanna go over my experience playing the game it's gonna include spoilers, but considering most people watched someone else play it it shouldn't matter too much. (Unless you're one of the people who got softlocked/hardlocked trying to play it themselves and have to wait for a patch to be able to finish the game.. I'm honestly really annoyed on your behalf because that should NOT have happened with an official game release.) I think that statement alone says quite a bit about the game considering- as far as I'm aware- as buggy as SB was at launch, you could at least beat the game.

Agh, initial complaints aside.. I dunno. I'll start with the more subjective stuff I guess? Maybe it's just me but the art style is a bit.. off for most of the human characters? I know this is super nitpicky but I'd rather start with the tiny things I can let go and build up to the things that really bother me. It's just so weird because the animatronics and setting/environments look amazing, but the human characters just don't really work for me. I'm sorry, I know that sounds rude, but, eh.. if I'm piling all my complaints anyway, why not bring it up? Okay, okay, I'll get into more structure now.

The Gameplay / Hiding.

Hiding. Okay, here's the thing. The gameplay is just.. it's not very good in my opinion. You spend a lot of the game just sitting in stupid hiding spots waiting for the animatronic to walk away so you can get to a specific room. It's boring. Half the time if I have to sit and wait like that I'll literally just leave the game on while I leave the room to take a break or go to the bathroom or something. It's just. so. much. sitting. and waiting. ughhhh... it gets so boring and tiring. Like- to compare it to Security Breach. Yes, you spent a lot of Security Breach in hiding spots too sometimes- But there's the thing. It was a risk vs reward situation. You could sit in hiding spots and stealth your way through it, or you could run through all the obstacles and hope you make it to safety in time. You had a choice. You didn't have to just sit and wait, and if you did, that's your own choice for not wanting to play too risky.

But in Into The Pit? Nope. Even if you WANTED to risk running, guess what! there's a random chance you'll just fucking trip. for no reason. it's literally just random. you have no control over it, it just happens sometimes when you run, and even if you did, the animatronics run so closely to you it doesn't seem very possible to outrun them, because half the time you get close, well they see you get into that hiding spot and catch you immediately. And when they don't see you? You have to do a button mashing minigame for the hiding spots.

I get the idea. Hiding is boring, so they wanted to make it interactive and give some sort of tension to it. But this? It's just button mashing. You hit the buttons shown on screen. Easy once you get the hang of it. It's BARELY interactive. I would've rather just gotten the cool pixel-art cutscene and been able to pay attention to what was going on rather than focus on button prompts.. At least then it would've felt like actual tension whether you were going to get caught or not. It just feels pointless and annoying, which kinda sucks, because the art for it is pretty neat, but you can barely pay any attention to it anyways.

That's one of the core issues with the game in my opinion. It makes it feel like the type of game you'd rather watch a youtuber play than actually play yourself because so much of it is just that- Sitting in hiding spots and waiting. Sit and wait, sit and wait.. at least a youtuber would edit down all the waiting so you don't have to sit through it.. The game looks cool but it isn't very fun to play, at least for me. It looks great for the most part, but it the gameplay experience is just.. boring. I didn't have much fun with it at all honestly... I'll get into this more later, but, yeah..

The Gameplay / Puzzles and Direction.

Not really sure how else to title that, but when I get into it you'll understand what I'm referring to.

Sometimes they can be pretty simple and straightforward, the game tells you what to do or where to go, but not often.. The beginning Night 1 is a little annoying because you have to grab the phone AND the phone number off the fridge if I remember correctly. Meaning there's a chance you didn't pick up on that, and now, instead of grabbing the phone number while you can safely roam around the house- you were unaware you even needed it and have to backtrack to grab it. And better hope you don't die, because if you do, you restart from the beginning of Night 1! That's right! all your progress is meaningless! If you collect items and die, too bad, you lose ALL of them. So you better not forget any on your next attempt, or else..

The sad thing is that's a minor complaint by comparison, at least if you miss the phone number it's not too far back to go and find it, and the game will tell you after you fail to get it. Sure, you have to go back and face more unnecessary danger, but at least the game tells you what you need to do.. Though that can be a little annoying if you don't know where to find it, it's a small house, you'll get it eventually. But other puzzles? Oh. my god.

Pretty much after I got to Day/Night 3 I had to start googling everything. I just completely had no idea what I was supposed to do or how I was supposed to do it.

I may not be remembering dates correctly but, I think I am? Once I got to the point of the game where the arcade was locked, everything went to shit. The door's locked? Okay fine, the OBJECTIVE IN THE CORNER says "FIND A WAY IN" so I assume I'm supposed to find an alternate route, right? Find a vent, use a different door, anything.. I check every possible fucking entrance, risking my life, sitting and waiting through all this boring hide-and-seek bullshit, only to have every possible entrance on my map marked blocked. If I can't get in through the vents or the other doors, how the fuck am I supposed to get in there? I tried. I tried to figure it out. I tried looking through the menus again, and only there, in the SUB-MENU of the objective, it said "find a key."

WHY THE FUCK ISN'T THE OBJECTIVE IN THE CORNER OF THE SCREEN "FIND THE KEY TO THE ARCADE" HUH??? WHY. I'm sorry. I'm getting a little too annoyed, but this section was so. fucking. frustrating to get through. I could not figure it out for at least an hour. That's such a simple fix I'm just baffled why the fuck they didn't do it. Because here I am, following the previously set rules of the game, if you can't get in through a door, use a vent, and none of my other routes worked. Why?? Why isn't the objective "find the arcade keys" or some shit. Why did they have to phrase it in such a vague way that makes the objective so confusing?

But it gets worse! Going once again by the previous rules of the game... I need a key? Fine, last time that happened I went back to the present and asked Jeff for it. Shouldn't be too hard. Well. I talked to Jeff. Nothing happened. I looked around the entire building in the present. Couldn't find it. I looked everywhere. I tried walking around the other buildings in town, looking through the trash, everything! It was annoying, it was exhausting, and for what? If I got the key from the present last time, then what is there this time letting me know I should be looking in the past for it? How am I supposed to know that when LAST TIME I had this problem I went to the PRESENT. It's just breaking ALL pre-established rules of how to face certain problems, in a way that just annoys and confuses you, because if the previous solution isn't going to work this time, then what is?!

So, fine. Look for the key in the past, somehow.. I once again, checked every vent, every corner of every room I could find without getting caught, because I assumed a KEY would be in some sort of backroom, or some sort of employees area.. not one of the main guest rooms. I had to google it. Y'know what the fucking answer was? Look in ONE SPECIFIC SPOT in the party room, a room CRAWLING with animatronics, TRY NOT TO GET CAUGHT, and..

Use the sticky hand to grab the key from a dark corner of the room you CAN'T SEE. YOU CANNOT SEE THE KEY. HOW THE FUCK WAS I SUPPOSED TO GUESS THAT?! Not only how am I supposed to guess the key is EVEN THERE but how am I supposed to guess you use the STICKY HAND??? especially since it was APPARENTLY in a vent you can't access from the ground, vents that usually you use.. the SCREWDRIVER ON... You see what I mean? Every rule. Every possible solution this game sets up. Nope. That's suddenly wrong. I hate it. It's awful. That's such a stupid solution I genuinely don't know how many HOURS it would've taken me because after maybe 30 minutes to an hour of looking I just gave up and googled it, because HOW ELSE am I supposed to figure that out on my own!?

Luckily that's the worst of it I think but that doesn't mean it gets better or stops happening.. because immediately after that, what does the game tell me to do? "Distract Bonnie." Okay, last time I did that I went to the present to get pizza for Chica. Go to the present, fine.

"How am I supposed to distract him?" Well I already read the sketchbook.. something to do with the guitar, fine. So once again, I checked every room in the pizzeria, and every room in every other area in the present I could access.. nothing. So I googled it again. Turns out I WAS right in checking the garbage in the mill, it was the strings tossed out there. Fine. Turns out.. I CAN'T COLLECT THEM. I CAN SEE THEM. RIGHT THERE. AND I CAN'T GRAB THEM. Y'know what I have to do? Go back to the past, interact with bonnie's guitar in the backroom, and THEN go back to the mill to get them..

Are you serious? At that point why even use the sketchbook as a hint if I have to interact with the dumb item first. The rest of this game seems to let you make your own choices pretty well on when to grab items (Like the previous example with the phone, I could grab the phone number first if I knew I needed it/where to find it, but I didn't HAVE to wait until I grabbed the phone to grab the phone number, that's taken as a punishment for not knowing to grab it first. SO you'd think, if the game sets up that you can grab items you need later earlier, that I'd be able to grab the damn strings without the game forcing me to interact with the object first. I already KNOW the strings are missing. I already KNOW where to find them. Are you kidding me? I know this is minor, but, it got on my nerves quite a bit..

I know I ran into that issue again during the final night of the game, when I was supposed to get the party room keycard.. I honestly didn't wanna deal with the bullshit of wandering aimlessly around the building looking for items I assume would be in a backroom ending up in plain sight (not really, because I COULDN'T SEE IT but you get the point) That's how much this game wore me down. I didn't want to engage with its gameplay like that anymore. I just wanted to get the item and be done. I was tired, I was exhausted, especially after the experience I had on Night 3, I did not want to deal with that again. Especially because of..

The checkpoints. Or, lack of.

Oh my god. They're so bad. I mentioned it briefly earlier, but the checkpoint system honestly sucks. I hate that there's no manual save button and you just have to trust the autosave whenever you quit the game, because half the time the autosave won't save your items or anything, it just saves the game after a certain amount of time regardless of where you are.

Unfortunately, one of the times I died my last autosave was looking through the garbage at the old mill. Y'know what that means? Anytime I died after going into the past, I would be reset there. Again. So if I made my way deeper into the pizzeria, and I died? I wouldn't just be set back to the pit, I'd be set back TO A DIFFERENT BUILDING ENTIRELY. It was very annoying.

Dying in this game is just so punishing, you get set back so far.. At least SB had manual saves, so every time you got set back, you usually knew how far you'd go. (Except for the autosaves like the lost and found thing.) Point is, at least you KNEW. The autosaves are so unreliable in this game I'm basically risking if I'm going to get set back one room or two, or if I'm going to get set back to THE BEGINNING OF THE ENTIRE NIGHT.

Worse yet, this checkpoint system completely fucked me up on the endings. Because of the way the checkpoints decided to work, and the fact there's no chapter-select post-game.. I couldn't get the last ending. I could only get some of them. I literally couldn't get the last ending of the game because getting that ending requires taking more actions in the present, but my autosave set me to when you get back in the pit, back in the past.. and if you try to interact with the pit.. You're not allowed to go back. It won't let you. You're literally stuck in the past. If you wanted to do anything in the present, too bad! Guess you're softlocked from that ending! If you wanna experience the game fully, guess what, just PLAY THE ENTIRE GAME ALL OVER AGAIN. Hell no. After what I just went through, I did NOT want to do that AGAIN just for ONE ending. It's fucking wild they don't have a chapter select system. Nearly every game that runs on linear story/chapters like this HAS a chapter select system, at the very least you usually unlock one once you beat the game, specifically so that you CAN go back and re-experience parts of the game without MAKING A NEW SAVE FILE.

Initially I thought I'd do what I typically do with other games, just make a new file for every important moment, then I don't have to go too far back if I make a mistake or want to replay old areas. But you can't. There's one file for every playthrough. So if you don't get those requirements before you reach the point of no return in the final entrance to the pit- too bad! too fucking bad, there's nothing you can do but REPLAY THE ENTIRE GAME FROM THE BEGINNING. As far as I'm aware, you have to be in the present to mess with some of this shit. And from what I've searched about the endings, since, y'know, I couldn't seem to get it for myself, I'm not the only person with this issue, plenty of other people have said they've even gotten the requirements and still can't get the ending, which is very annoying considering the final night ends up being watching the same cutscenes over and over trying to get any endings... Speaking of,

The Endings.

I know this may seem like an odd thing to nitpick, usually multiple endings is always a good thing, but.. I don't really think it added much to the game if I'm being honest?

Like, okay, I wanna say one thing about the ending first. In the book, from what I know, you end up finding the bodies of the 5 missing kids propped up in the back room, but in the game.. that never happens. I assume it's because you save a couple of the kids, but honestly, is it weird for me to say that's a letdown? Like. Okay. Obviously saving the kids is good, yes, of course, BUT, considering the context of the game being based off the book, I was kind of interested to see how that would be portrayed in the game, y'know? I mean, if they're not afraid to show a rotting possum corpse in the beginning of the game, I didn't think they'd censor it..

But, otherwise, the ending's kind of just the same. The rabbit gets trapped in the ball pit and dies. Alright. It seems like one of those variations of that ending is canon, so.. What's the point of the other 3? The one where you leave is so incredibly pointless. In SB when Gregory left, there was a point, there were things to learn from it. Seeing he doesn't have a home to run back to, seeing the newspaper of the missing/disappearances, and seeing Vanny would've just caught him anyway. It directly tells us what would've happened if he chose that ending and why it mattered that he didn't. But Into the Pit doesn't really do that? It feels like they added an ending for the sake of adding more endings. He just.. leaves. That's it. We don't get to see where he goes or what happens without him/to him.. nope. He's just gone. That's it. Simple. What's gained from this exactly? How does this enhance the experience beyond fucking up my checkpoint again when I accidentally go through that door mid-game out of curiosity... yes I am a bit salty about having my progress reset from that.

And the other endings don't add much either tbh.. Like, okay, the other two, one of them just shows you getting kidnapped by Spring Bonnie, which.. okay?? he gets kidnapped, I can only assume he gets stuffed into a suit from there. So. then what. Again, what did we gain from this? And the other, where you fail during the final confrontation. (At least this one is optional through failing, and not through not-knowing-certain-items-needed-to-be-collected-to-get-a-decent-ending..) is a lot longer, showing you walking through the pizzeria with the other animatronics, and it's assumed you get stuffed into Foxy. Which. Again. We already knew that's what he did to his victims. So, again, what do we gain from this?? What was the point of any of it? At least this one looks cool and lasts longer, I guess.. But they feel so pointless.

It doesn't help that the only difference between the other two endings is really just the dialogue and post-game cutscene, one showing Jeff dying and saying they'll move, the other not mentioning moving and showing the pizzeria looking better with Jeff. It's nice to see two versions of this ending that I feel actually do add something, but at the same time, it means you have to go through those same cutscenes over and over trying to get them.. augh. it's a bit tiring.

Trying to come up with a conclusion here.

I know this may be an odd conclusion to draw from this but, it honestly feels like the type of game that's better to watch a youtuber play, which is definitely not a compliment. Because at least if you're watching someone else play it, either they'll edit it down, or you can SKIP through the boring sit-and-wait hide-and-seek bullshit to get to the interesting cutscenes and the cool pixel-art animations. That's my thing with this game- There's things to look at that look cool, but to play it? It's not very fun, at least for me it really wasn't.. I feel like once again it was either barely playtested or not playtested enough. Especially when it comes to the softlocks, god I can't end this off without mentioning those..

Post-Conclusion Bullshit: The Softlocks.

While I was lucky enough to not experience any myself, (Unless you count me not being able to get an ending without restarting the entire game, as far as I'm aware that's what I'm stuck with..) I think the softlocks are worth noting. They shouldn't have happened, really. It's awful. Speaking from what I've seen online with other people's experiences.. One of the glitches is that during dialogue cutscenes, sometimes you can get stuck and not be able to move, which, y'know. Can't move. Can't act. Can't play the game. Softlocked.

Another is on Night 4, this one seems more common, especially for console players, if you try accessing the cameras.. you fall through the void and get stuck, and, I assume, eventually die. Either that or you get stuck and again, can't move, can't act. Done. Another softlock, a very common one people are still waiting to get patched.

And Night 5, sometimes the girl in the party room just won't even spawn. Again, can't talk to her, can't act, can't advance the story, softlocked. You're stuck. Nothing you can do. It's awful. I wouldn't be surprised if there's more I haven't heard of, but game-breaking softlocks like this should NOT be happening on an official release like this. As much as people hate on Security Breach for its buggy launch, at least to my knowledge, most of the bugs were either funny visual glitches or would help you beat the game FASTER, not prevent you from beating it at all! Which whatever. Maybe I am wrong on that. I don't really care. Security breach was kinda known for its glitches at the time, so it's a little annoying to me to see Into the Pit have such a positive reputation so far when stuff like THIS is happening to it. It feels hypocritical to hate one game and praise another like that, but maybe that's just my bias showing.

I'm having a hard time actually concluding this but it's just.. I see so many flaws in it. I think even the checkpoints could've been fixed so easily by just allowing manual saves that could save items but may only be allowed in certain rooms due to animatronics spawning. Something along those lines. Whether it's saving in a menu or in a physical station like Security Breach, it could've helped a lot since the autosave is so risky and unreliable. It just feels like some of these issues shouldn't have made it to release. Especially chapter select, that feels like an essential feature for a chapter-based game in my opinion, most games like this have it, but, whatever.. I just think it's very flawed. It may be fun to watch someone else play but I had a horrible time experiencing it for myself and I just found it to be not worth it. I'm sad to say I regret it. I considered getting a refund but found I already had 2.5 hours, so, I couldn't. I think in the state it released in the game wasn't worth its price tag. I'd say it was worth 10-15. I just.. I'm tired. This game has exhausted me. I don't know how to end this in a very structured way, I just feel so done with this game.
