I will be damned with this unpopular opinion, but I just realized why I don't hate the Zuka Club as much as the general population.

As someone who went to a real life version of St. Lobelia Girls Academy, some things in the anime that are obviously exaggerated, but there is some truth to it.

Taking things from a more realistic perspective, this is a school in JAPAN. A place where QUEER notions/feminism/pronouns/basically western views on gender and sexuality are heavily repressed. Luckily, most of us weren't born and raised in Japan because that country is misogynistic as hell. They freakin' decided to put permanent shutter sounds on cellphones there because they can't control the men to stop taking pictures of people without consent? All women train carts? Those issues need another post and discussion.

This really puts the anime and manga far ahead of its time which must be why its so memorable. Anyways moving on from that...

We also had a theater club and yes they also had musicals done (LOLOLOL. We actually had two types of theater clubs, three kinds of singing clubs/glee clubs, and 3 types of dance clubs but LOL that's not the point of this post). We've had gender studies and feminism discussed slowly even as kids. In high school, I could definitely name few people like the Zuka Club because we were taught to fight the patriarchy and the misogyny.

The elaborate plans for a first kiss? Obviously the anime was over the top, but I remember some of my friends and classmates planning elaborate dates hoping for a first kiss. Sending gifts daily with notes and all the works? Done. Serenading them with a guitar, chocolates, flowers, etc while at school? Yup. That's happened. Girls hiding behind doors stalking the senior they have a crush on? Daily occurrence.

Do I like the way they were portrayed in the anime? Not exactly but it was and is in true OHSHC fashion to just be over the top with everything. The whole anime is satire so no one should take it too seriously.

i know it will never happen but i so desperately desire an origins-type playable backstory thing in all games but especially veilguard. i feel like it added so much depth to origins and made you feel instantly connected to your character in a way that gets lost in games like inquisition where you fill in the blanks as you go except for the bare basics. like, i do enjoy the freedom to willy nilly decide where a character was before the events of the story from a creative perspective, but the playable origins were just so good! especially when you go back to where your warden is from and can engage differently with the arcs there
