I think the project seems like fun! I've been wanting to redraw a few pages/adapting a few scenes in the book in my own style for comics.

I do have a few questions though if thats ok!

If there ends up being a discord server, would it still be possible for someone who doesnt have a discord to participate?

Can each page be drawn with a a custom color pallete? Like if one artist wanted to draw a page with color but another drew in monochrome. Or is there going to be a set pallete?

If you ever need any artists I'd be happy to give it a try!

I think it would be wonderful to have the project be more accessible, if someone can't or doesn't want to use discord I'm sure I could talk to them directly about the project, and act as a messanger for ideas said by them or in the discord. The server would be for convenience but accessibility will be possible, this was a very good question.

And for colours, styles, etc, let me make a quick list of stuff-

Colour palette- I imagine that the real world will use real world colours, but the studio might be more interesting to make sepia tones and stylised like in game. Maybe only in the last act it could work well too, seeing that the studio does feel a lot like the cycle at that point. I don't think I'll make artists stick to specific hex codes or shades of colours as bases, but I'll think about it.

Everyone draws their own styles, no need to learn one specific to the project as the nature of MAP style projects.

Character designs will be set as stated before, universally shared in the project.

'Thank you' to the anon who sent the long rant calling Harry out for being a shit dad. I absolutely agree. There is not much evidence to show he is better at raising those kids. And "raising" the kids is what's important. Not having a better rapport with them while they are toddlers.

In spare, Harry thanks his kids for allowing him to be an absent father. Most of this book was done during lockdown, on zoom and later the ghost write stayed in their guesthouse. The kids were younger than 3 yrs old. So, what is Harry's excuse for being an absent father when the rest of the world was pretty much forced to stay at home. Where was he??

If you back years you can see videos where, when the Wales kids are present, Harry is standing in the backyard making faces and scowling at them. This was before Meghan. I remember a TTC video I watched and I saw Harry and I felt I was having some sort of cognitive dissonance. Was it just me who thought he looked mean there? Why wasn't anyone commenting on it? Once I'd seen it I couldn't unsee it.

Someone who is jealous and resentful of someone else's kids can't be all than nice in the long run. He might be all fun and games now, but kids grow up. They are a lot of work. They need constant care, and they absorb a lot.

All of this epic saga we are seeing over the past 5/6 years is rooted in Harry's resentment of his family. Or rather, Harry's narcissism. Men like him arnt all that rare.

You may have come across someone like this in your own life - someone who seemingly out of the blue did something horrible but had a ready excuse of being "ensnared by a vile woman". We see this all too often in horrible cases across the world. But you think back and you realize (or find) that these men were just good at hiding it. They do not care. They are constitutionally incapable caring. They don't snap. They reveal their true colours at a convenient time. And even if convicted or exposed, their excuse forever will be something or someone else.

Harry's excuse forever will be Meghan. But some me included, who met him before will know and remember what our experience was. Mine was an intuitive feeling that he was just going through the motions but wasn't interested in bringing anything to the table. He thought everyone was beneath him. And that his presence was all that's needed. He appeared in fun in pictures and videos released but in actual reality was bored, did not participate and did not give anyone his time or attention.

I'm talking about a charity appearance btw, not personal equation in a private capacity, which I don't have with him. Just a participant at an event and earlier from what I saw at Diamond jubilee in 2012.

I’m new to the fandom and super interested in sonic OCs and want to meet more sonic oc havers! Would you ever consider making a discord— or do any communities like that already exist? I’m always intimidated by the prospect of talking to people on tumblr ^^;

I've definitely considered making one for the blog, because being able to announce new questions and the like might be convenient, and I also really like chatting to people, but I've run into a few snags related to it which is why there isn't one currently.

At the moment I'm just one guy, so I'd need to find some people to help moderate from timezones that aren't the same as mine. UTC+11 is very offset from most people-- I'm usually asleep when most people are awake. And since we're openly welcoming minors to participate, moderation would have to be pretty tight to ensure everyone's safety. Automod tools will help a lot with that, but you really need a few people around to verify that they're doing the correct thing.

Tbh I'd like to throw the question open to everyone following at the moment as well; how much would everyone like a discord running along the same lines and rules as the blog itself?

Cohort Intelligence Files

Are the names of generals and government officials like the Head of Intelligence secret information? Like, obviously the names of individual CIA agents are secret, but the name of the head of the organization isn't, and neither are the names of the military generals of any country, that I know of. They seem to broadly revere and respect the military in the Empire, so it's odd that information like this would be secret

Judith's description of herself and Marta reads like a resume, lmao. Was she trying to impress or prove herself to these generals or her fellow Cohort members?

Also, just like a note here at the start that she records everyone's marital attachments, or lack thereof like she thinks this might be important somehow to the Lyctor trial, which seems odd to me, but you know, I'd be willing to believe that that's just me, so let me know what you think. In the event, it looks like the only person who actually did have marital ties outside the Lyctor trial was Protesilaus, and he died before he even arrived

I also note that although Judith makes notes of every cavalier's preferred offhand weapon, it never seems to occur to her that some cavaliers might have a preferred main weapon that isn't a rapier, which was true for at least Gideon and Camilla, and potentially could have also been true for (in order of decreasing likelihood) Colum, Jeannemary, and Magnus

Another note that it does seem in some cases like the reason why the cavaliers are all cavaliers primary is an accident (like Jeannemary only achieving that title relatively recently), but it's not explained why Magnus was cavalier primary. This section describes Abigail as if she is actually the ruling lady of her House, but it does say in the Dramatis Personae that she is merely the heir. I know the Fifth has this custom of making the spouse into the cavalier and probably the title of "primary" also doesn't have to be earned with marital skill, but in that case wouldn't the actual ruler's cavlier/spouse be the cavalier primary?

Also, it's not just the Fourth House - most of the other cavaliers also have histories of being made cavaliers or even participating in military service in the like 11-13 age range

It's interesting that a) she doesn't suspect that Corona might not be a necromancer even though she's personally known the twins since childhood, and that b) even though she has the exact same set of information about the necromantic abilities of both twins and realizes that Corona'a beauty is beguiling, she guesses that Ianthe is the worse necromancer and find it suspicious that Ianthe doesn't do necromancy without her sister in the room but does not find this suspicious about Corona. So that con has been going on for a long, long time. It's also interesting that the twins' parents seem to be devoted enough to the idea of what a cavalier should be that they didn't give Corona her own cavalier for appearance's sake and instead claimed that Naberius was both twins' cavalier, even though that was considered weird

What does "Resurrection-purity family" mean? Surely everyone is a descendant of someone who was resurrected, if I understand the history right, right?

It's not just that gay marriage is normalized - we actually have gay arranged marriage, as well. From a like, inheritance of nobility standpoint, I'm a little curious about what the utility of gay arranged marriage would be, but it sounds like a substantial amount of the population of the Fourth House are test tube babies anyway, so many it actually doesn't matter. That does seem pretty convenient when people are likely to die young before they have a chance to have kids naturally.

Interesting note, "Sir" is gender-neutral. Yes, I remember that she has "Knight" as one of her titles

This is just a guess, but I'm going to go with "in-depth study of the history of this universe probably inspires anti-Cohort sentiment"

If Judith ever met Magnus personally she neglected to mention that, but I like to think that what this sentence means is that Fifth House bureaucrats all have a penchant for dad jokes. But I'm guessing the more boring interpretation that they are bad at fighting is what we're actually meant to take away from this

This is funny - she has pretty much no information about Camilla except her name, birthday, birth place, and the age when she became Palamedes' cavalier, but she just makes up a bunch of stuff here just based entirely on her perception of the Sixth House as a whole. Like, she also doesn't have any information about the Ninth House, but doesn't make any assumptions about them other than "necromancer will be a bone adept". This is kind of interesting, considering that Naberius clearly had preconceptions about what the Ninth cavalier was going to be like ("necro suitcase", etc.)

I'm also sort of curious about what "cavalier stage" Judith was envisioning here, and what role she thought the cavaliers were going to play in this

It's interesting that Protesilaus served Dulcinea's father as cavalier secondary before serving Dulcinea as cavalier primary, both because it makes me more confused about how primary and secondary status is determined, and also because this seems to violate all the stuff in the previous Sermon about the cavalier/necromancer relationship, it seems like this would be kind of weird and not ideal. Possibly Judith is right that this was only done because Dulcinea was expected to die young

It looks like the only thing left is the pronunciation guide (which I've already read) and the beginning excerpt of Harrow the Ninth, which I'll get to when I buy the book. Interestingly, Harrow seems to be in the second person, which is cool. I got very used to second person back when I was in Homestuck fandom, and actually wrote ~40,000 words of second person POV fanfic back in 2012, although second person Homestuck fanfic was usually in the present tense, whereas this appears to be in the past tense. Honestly, if I had to pick something to be Homestuck's best legacy, it might be normalizing the two styles of fanfic that were pretty much universally hated back in the early aughts to the point where they were often banned on fanfiction archives: second person POV/"You-fic" and chatlog fic. But I'm not sure why this book is in second person when the first book was in third person. I mean, I guess Swordspoint and the Fall of Kings were in third person and then Privilege of the Sword was in first person, but that wasn't really a trilogy where one book followed directly from the end of the last. Although I guess I don't actually know for sure that the Locked Tomb is that kind of series because I've only read one book so far

But in any case, this appears to be it for Gideon the Ninth. Next I'm going to try to find The Mysterious Study of Dr. Sex, although I am not having any luck finding it as a Nook ebook. Does anyone know if I can get it as an epub from somewhere?

Info dumping - a surprise to everyone involved

There was a post floating around about "if you're at gun point and the person said they'll kill you unless you can pontificate for 3hrs straight about a subject - would you be able to do it?"

Something to that effect.

Well, I'm making some aerial workshops right now to teach in May, and apparently I have so sooo many thoughts about beats (in regard to static apparatuses; I know my lane, swinging and flying trapeze people. You can keep your sweeps, 7s, and breaks at your tortuously long tempo. I'll keep to my comparatively quick 1/16th timing, thank you.)

The workshop is 2hrs, and I....have so so much to say. Worse yet, since it's a combo workshop, it's actually only 1hr of beats. I'm going to write it all out, but I will need to be vicious in my editing.

I mean, the workshop will be somewhat dictated by what the participants are more interested by. So having more info available than I'm going to use is for the best. Still, I have so much thought-ing.

Here's a sidenote thing that I might skip entirely or just leave as one of those untouched threads I lay down for someone to pick up in convo after the workshop: there is beat as a noun, and there's beat as a verb If noun - a beat is pendulum arc created/maintained by swinging (your body or the apparatus, in this context of your body) If verb - to beat/do a beat is to pump (bend/unbend) a piece of your body to create/maintain momentum Why that matters: you pump your knees when you sit on a swing to maintain momentum = both a noun (you're in a pendulum arc) and verb (you're doing a beat to build/maintain the arc) when you pump your knees in a front hip circle [rotating your body around a bar at your hip crease], you are beating your knees but not in a pendulum arc.

Anyway, yeah, I could totally survive the encounter. This isn't even touching on the other topic of this workshop. About which I have just as much to say.

Which I suppose is convenient because if you want rips in your hands, beats are the way to do it so not doing a ton of them is for the best if you'd like your hands to not resemble raw meat. (There are 4 more workshops I'm teaching after this one, for this group. I'd rather they didn't have to sit them out because their palms have no skin)

Notes of ways I notice Xiao using Japanese in the dub bc I think it's interesting and says stuff abt his character

i also did one of these for Albedo, Paimon, and a couple others

-man speaks like Orphen casts spells

-sounds more like fantasy than archaism

-his word choice makes it feel like he relies on the kanji subtitles being shown alongside his spoken dialogue to clear up the meaning like there's just more convenient words he could be using, altho I doubt this is that much of a problem for native speakers it is noticeable

-a lot of his stranger word choices and also the way he announces his abilities are usually just the kunyomi reading of the original Chinese text (which to my knowledge anyone would need to see written down in order to understand properly)

-using the straight kunyomi reading of the Chinese isn't really that odd in the game but Xiao does it significantly more

-comes off as very rude bc he does not use ANY formalities or respectful language at all no matter who he's talking to or abt, doesn't even use honorifics when he mentions the literal god he serves with his life (altho we haven't seen them interact directly ofc so idk if he would speak respectfully face-to-face)

-Update to this one: Re-listened to some voice lines. He does not give respectful honorifics when referring to Rex Lapis, but does give Zhongli respectful honorific in About Zhongli line. This is the only time I've noticed him use an honorific so far.

-Update 2: there appear to be 2 versions of this line, idk when it was changed/updated but the current one has him using honorifics for Zhongli, so I think it was added in at some point.

-Final update: Rex Lapis is a title itself and gets no honorifics, in the most recent Lantern right event, Xiao and Zhongli have extended interaction with each other and he does use formal speech and honorifics with Zhongli. Not overly formal and he sounds uncomfortable with it, but leagues more respect than he gives any other character.

-he comes off as rude and prickly and his speech is aggressive but it sounds more isolated than anything? Like he doesn't have "trying to be an asshole on purpose" energy it's more like he doesn't really see himself in social pleasantries and just refuses to participate in them

-in my interpretation this is an intentional reflection of his character; like how he's a gentle person inside who pushes everyone else away for their safety his speech is mean and overly practical but there's not really any bite behind it he's just not Trying to be nice or personalble

-he has very distinct speech from any other adeptus in the game

-he talks wayy more normally than the other adepti that live away from the city (ie the animals) but he's still night and day compared to the adepti that live with the people in Liyue Harbor including Zhongli

-the adepti living in the city speak mostly identical to the other human characters, the adepti in the mountains speak abnormal af and like they're above all humans/everything else, they speak in more grandiose terms than the god they serve

-Xiao's speech is mostly removed from social customs that would indicate humility or respect towards people around him but he still talks distinctly LIKE a person not like a god or a higher being or anything, I think I'd liken his speech the most to like a wizard or an Orphen character or smth

-I srsly think that this contrast between him and the other adepti is also a conscious effort to contrast him, standing in the middle between the communal human and secluded adeptus worlds when everyone else has chosen a side. kind of like how he's still fulfilling his contract to the letter even though Rex Lapis has stepped down and isn't even Liyue's god anymore

-the only other character I've noticed has a similar (not identical but comparable) speaking style to Xiao is Shenhe

If not, I completely understand.

Hey anon! I’m glad you enjoyed them! ^_^ And I’d be happy to make some headcanons for your AU. But just to let you know anon, I would appreciate it if you asked me first before sending me your listed requests. I honestly don’t mind writing headcanons for talentswaps (I honestly enjoy doing that) but I would appreciate you asking me and then sending them to me. That way it doesn’t take me by surprise. 

So without further ado, here are my headcanons for your SDR2 Talentswap AU.

Peko Pekoyama as the SHSL Imposter

While Peko was adopted by the Kuzuryu Clan, she didn’t have a choice in her lifelong profession like Fuyuhiko did.

She was made to work as an infiltration agent.

As a professional imposter, Peko learned how to analyze and copy the body movements and behaviors of any potential person. 

She also was taught how to apply makeup to make her disguises as accurate as possible.

Her assignments involved abducting low level workers of rival clans and taking their place while disguised as them.

She’d then relay the rival clan’s weaknesses and business transactions towards the Kuzuryu’s so they can exploit them.

Peko was discouraged from having any personal interests or hobbies so that her infiltration and identity theft skills wouldn’t be tarnished.

This made Peko feel more like a tool and how she only existed to promote the success of the Kuzuryu Clan. 

When Fuyuhiko was scouted to go to Hope’s Peak, her superiors used their connections to grant Peko a spot with him to keep an eye on him.

She would take on Junko Enoshima’s image given that the supermodel was busy with her own personal affairs.

Although no one can recognize her while disguised, the viewer/player can recognize Peko with her thick glasses and piercing red eyes.

Hiyoko Saionji as the SHSL Chef

Hiyoko came from a family of culinary masters who amazed Japan with their creative and flavorful dishes.

There was unfortunately alot of drama within the family as they each wanted to train Hiyoko so they can pass their personal culinary training onto her.

Her grandmother managed to win and was one of the most ruthless teachers ever. 

Under her training, Hiyoko received burns, cuts and having her food thrown in her face just for making the smallest of slip ups.

Her brutal training mixed with having negative relations with her family made her bitter and aggressive towards everyone around her.

She also has a hard time trusting others to work with her in the kitchen due to multiple incidents where dishes were poisoned and nearly tarnished Hiyoko’s reputation.

Because of this, she prefers to work alone in the kitchen. When she’s assigned to work with partners or underlings, she can be best described as Gordon Ramsay if he were a sassy lost child.

She often holds a knife or a frying pan whenever she’s threatening someone she doesn’t like.

Her culinary specialties involve desserts such as wasabon and kompeito.

Ibuki Mioda as the SHSL Photographer

Throughout her childhood, Ibuki was neglected by her caregivers so she took up photography as a means of distracting herself from the loneliness of her household.

She managed to earn her success by taking high quality photos of lovers in romantic situations.

At her middle school, she made it a game for herself to see how many pictures she could get of different couples at her school without getting caught.

While developing her photos, the couples tried to chastise Ibuki for her actions but they immediately changed their minds when they saw how cool the photos looked.

Ibuki gained a reputation among her peers for her photos and now everyone wanted one too.

This resulted in Ibuki getting alot of “friends” who only wanted to hang out with her just so she could photograph them doing what they wanted while conveniently leaving out the photographer herself.

The fact that these people only cared about her talent so she can capture their memories for them gave Ibuki a sense of familiar loneliness.

Despite this, she wants to enjoy her talent as much as she can with an upbeat attitude.

Ibuki’s favorite subject to photograph are people.

She loves to people watch since the people walking around come in different shapes and sizes and are always doing something unique that you wouldn’t expect.

Sonia Nevermind as the SHSL Swordswoman

Sonia came from a family of professional swordfighters who taught her the power of the blade at an early age.

She grew up on European fairy tales and legends of powerful heroes who used their swords to fight for justice or prove their superiority against enemies who opposed them.

Her family taught her classical fencing, mordhau, the half-sword, destreza and several other fighting styles which she claims are a secret.

She earned her title after winning multiple swordfighting tournaments, many of which were held underground. 

Despite her victories, she’s actually been hospitalized due to the extreme injuries she received from sword wounds and physical attacks from her opponents.

Since these wounds have yet to diminish her fighting power, Sonia feels that it’s best to pay them no mind so she can continue her family’s legacy.

She’s never seen without her longsword which she made herself. She calls it Stjerneild because there were shooting stars on the night of making it and also since she burned herself during the process.

Sonia isn’t afraid to boast about her fighting skills and eagerly offers her girl friends the chance to learn how to use a sword.

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu as the SHSL Light Music Club Member

Rather than becoming the next heir of his family business, Fuyuhiko wanted to pursue his dream of being an idol.

He takes his career extremely seriously and wouldn’t do stupid stunts or scandals that could jeopardize his work.

To make up for his young appearance, Fuyuhiko uses outfits that have a punk aesthetic while also incorporating black and gold color schemes to make him look older.

Alot of his songs feature themes of embracing your personal talents or how it’s better to carve your own path rather than rely on others.

He knows how to play the electric guitar and the keyboard. 

Having refused his parents’ intended career plans, he feels that he can’t screw up his career or else everything he ever worked for will be for nothing and he’d have to crawl back to them for support.

His sister Natsumi often joins him during his tours and unofficially becomes his manager and bodyguard during her visits. 

He has a hard time dealing with fanclub meetings because the fangirls would make jokes about his baby face which would drive him insane.

Akane Owari as the SHSL Traditional Dancer

Just like in canon, Akane had to take care of her younger siblings while struggling to survive her poor hometown.

While she did take different jobs to support her family, she would lose those jobs constantly because she kept getting into fights against strangers who tried to grope and harass her.

One day, while she was training by herself in an empty plaza, a woman passed by and paid close attention to her fighting form and rhythm.

She revealed herself to Akane as a traditional dance instructor and offered to train Akane to perfect her skills.

The girl wasn’t interested in doing something fancy like dancing but she changed her mind when she realized that her dancing could be used to raise money for her family. To which, she accepted.

While the instructor taught Akane the fundamentals of mai and odori techniques, the girl performed better when she used her own skills.

While frustrated, the instructor decided to rework her teaching style so Akane’s performances would be passable while also integrating her own skills.

She ended up winning multiple competitions and performances and used the prize money to move her family into a bigger and better house.

Although her reputation as an “easy waitress” would often rear its ugly head and would make Akane become agitated.

Her dancing moves incorporate alot of her old fighting techniques.

She wears a cherry red kimono with a yellow dragon etched on the side as a design.

At the end of each performance, she can be found at the snacks table eating just about everything.

Nagito Komaeda as the SHSL Nurse

Nagito lost his family when he was just a child.

Having pity on the boy, along with finding traces of frontotemporal dementia, the head doctor of the hospital he resided in decided to adopt the boy as his own.

Nagito became the doctor’s apprentice and learned of the different techniques that came with working in the medical field. 

The doctor taught him which drugs/medicines were used for what along with how to use the surgical tools properly.

He personally saw different medical cases each more mesmerizing than the last. 

He became fixated on the concept of death and how it was an integral part of life.

When he became old enough, he started to work as a nurse and partake in the same surgeries he saw as a child.

While he certainly participated in a number of cases that saved the lives of his patients, he also had a number of cases that resulted in death.

He personally requested to handle the patients that were unable to be saved so he can spend their final moments with them and capture the memory of their deaths.

There’s been word from the medical staff that he tries to comfort the dying patient and their family with speeches on how they shouldn’t be afraid of death and how the patient will move on to greater things in the next life and how the families will become stronger afterwards.

This has earned him the nickname “Angel of Death”. 

He wears mint green scrubs and carries a portable bag withhis own medical equipment.

Teruteru Hanamura as the SHSL Coach

Despite his physique, Teruteru has amazing stamina and is capable of lifting heavy objects that ordinary people would have trouble lifting on their own.

Teruteru can analyze a person’s physical stature and determine which exercise or physical activity best suits them.

He always offers massage therapy proclaiming that it’s the best way to strengthen the body and relax the mind.

There are multiple cases where the players he’s worked with have accused him of sexual harassment or groping their bodies. 

He has a complicated relationship with his family.

The younger siblings antagonize him for pursuing a career that isn’t related to their family’s restaurant business while putting more hardships on their mother.

His mom on the other hand, is more accepting of his career and asks that he focus more on what he enjoys doing in life.

Teruteru’s massages originally stemmed from how he would give massages to his mama to help alleviate her of her body aches.

He wears a dark red track suit and gold chain. Mixed with his combed over hair, it makes him look like a sleazy gangster.

Chiaki Nanami as the SHSL Animal Breeder

As the daughter of a rich family that hardly had time for her, Chiaki’s parents bought her a variety of animals to keep her company.

She found comfort with them but was heartbroken when she noticed that they became saddened and died.

She became motivated to learn from them so they could stay alive for long as possible.

Chiaki began studying different types of animals and what behaviors are ideal and which are concerning.

After school, she would venture to local animal shelters and veterinarians and offer to volunteer so she can work with different animals and examine first hand their behaviors.

She earned recognition by forming connections with the animals in her care and teaching them commands.

While she prefers the company of animals to humans, she will make an effort to help her human clients have a better relationship with their pets.

She can often be found napping alongside any of her animal friends.

Sagishi as the SHSL Lucky Student

Saigishi grew up in an orphanage having been abandoned by their family before they can remember.

They noticed that they had an unusual luck themed streak when it came to playing with the other kids.

If they were playing soccer, they would accidentally kick the ball into the window which surprisingly knocked out a janitor that was about to assault one of the orphanage workers.

If they tried to pass a love letter to another child they had a crush on, a burst of wind would fly the letter straight into the child’s face and they’d end up having a terrible accident.

If they were preparing food for an upcoming dinner, they would end up pouring too much vinegar into the meal which would spoil the dinner resulting in the staff having to order pizza for the kids.

Saigishi developed a reputation as a kid with creepy powers which both amazed and terrified their fellow orphans.

The kid realized that their luck would only benefit the people around them but would make bad things happen if they tried to use it for themselves.

At the urging of their friends, they ended up participating in the Hope’s Peak Lottery and wound up with the chance to join them as the next SHSL Lucky Student.

Sagishi was worried since something bad would eventually happen if it was the work of their luck, but they decided to take the offer knowing that they needed to make a future for themselves.

They wear a white collared shirt with old jeans. 

They still have a mullet which has a small ahoge on the top of their head.

Mikan Tsumiki as the SHSL Gamer

She still had a horrible childhood growing up where her family and classmates would bully and abuse her for a variety of reasons.

Not wanting to put up with their abuse anymore, Mikan decided to drop out of middle school and become a hikikomori.

Using her worn out computer, Mikan found comfort in playing online video games. 

She personally enjoys fighting games as she imagines her enemies as her abusers and would deliver swift justice on them by beating them up.

Mikan has a preference for playing as male characters since the female characters wearing skimpy/stripper-esque outfits bring back painful memories for her.

After sufficient online practice, Mikan gained enough confidence to try tournaments in the real world. 

But she kept this secret from her family in fear that they would use this to torment her.

When it comes to tournaments, she unleashes her pent up anger and frustrations for her past tormentors by cursing at her opponents as she beats them.

While her fandom is impressed with her gaming skills, they do question why they would call her opponents by a different name and accuses them of doing something awful to her.

When she wants to calm down after a heavy day, she likes to play relaxing games with cute animals.

Nekomaru Nidai as the SHSL Prince

During his childhood years, Nekomaru stayed in his room because of his heart condition.

He received private tutoring based on the history of his kingdom along with different world cultures.

His father and mother spared no expense in providing the best doctors and medical professionals who could ensure that their son would be physically fit.

When he started making appearances outside of the palace, there were rumors that the frail prince was placed in a secret government program that was designed to create super soldiers.

He’s often recognized for working first as a soldier under his father’s militia before becoming of it’s main generals.

Nekomaru is well versed when it comes to proper etiquette and engaging in the company of royals or high class aristocrats. 

He has a personal club made of suitors who have fallen for his image as a charming (and handsome) prince.

He also devotes alot of time to interacting with the middle class of his kingdom as he believes having a bond with his people is important for a royal to have.

The main uniform he wears is a blue military outfit with a silver sash and a black beret with a family jewel in the front.

Gundam Tanaka as the SHSL Yakuza

He inherited the throne of the Tanaka Empire at an early age due to the death of his father.

He wasn’t able to remember his father but the stories passed by his underlings and advisors describe him as a devil who was incredibly powerful but dangerous when provoked.

His mother on the other hand, remembers him as a loving man who was very attentive toward her needs.

Gundam would unintentionally embrace his father’s memory thanks to his “overlord” personality which would make him come off as overly dramatic and sinister to his enemies.

His reign as a yazuka lord involved more emphasis on spiritual affairs by bringing spiritual communities under his Empire.

He personally believes that maintaining ties with the spirits and Gods will grant the Tanaka Empire a stronger chance of survival.

While maintaining relationships with minor businesses under his control, he would also invite potential gang groups for tea ceremonies and offer them the chance to join him.

He’s been trained by his advisors in using a katana and gun making him skilled enough to handle even the most dangerous of gang members.

While he’s capable of defeating them, he vows never to take the blood of anyone weaker than him or unless he’s given no other choice.

Before entering high school, Gundam was able to have his upper and lower body tattooed with images of oni demons and spirits.

He found the Four Dark Devas when he passed by a street and saw the four hamsters foraging for food in a dumpster. 

He also expresses admiration for Sonia’s impressive swordfighting skills and has offered her an opportunity to work for his Empire if she wishes.

Kazuichi Souda as the SHSL Gymnast

Kazuichi got into gymnastics by reading alot of shonen manga.

He was impressed by how athletic and fit the heroes were so he wanted to train and be like them.

When not helping in his dad’s shop, he would try practicing parkour near the streets of his town to help him develop better flexibility.

While practicing at middle school, his teachers noticed his potential and offered him a spot in a gymnastics program.

His dad didn’t like him getting into “girly shit” like gymnastics and frequently insulted him for it. 

He would often perform for his friends which impressed them at first. But then things got troublesome when they requested him to do flips and jumps for their amusement.

It got worse when they tricked him into breaking into a second story classroom so he could steal the answers for an upcoming test.

Not wanting to be taken advantage of again, Kazuichi gave himself a radical makeover so no one would mess with him.

Along with his pink hair, his outfit consists of a black tanktop with neon green stripes and yellow shorts.

Hajime Hinata as the SHSL Mechanic

His parents rented his own shop for him to work at but they personally didn’t invest their own time to work with him.

To avoid having to think about his loneliness, Hajime placed all of his effort and thinking into his work.

He began receiving requests to repair average household appliances before moving on to bigger machines.

He’s received alot of praise for improving the appliances while also explaining to the owners on how they should best maintain their appliances so they can last longer 

The machines that he worked best with were vehicles and motorcycles.

Despite being underage, Hajime managed to practice driving on his own and learned how to drive the basic motor vehicles.

While he’s grateful for his mechanic talent, he often worries if he’s really living his life to the fullest and if there’s something missing that he needs to achieve.

His favorite invention is a hoverboard that he uses to ride around his hometown to clear his mind after a hard day’s work.

His mechanic uniform is a mechanic uniform with a design similar to that of a racecar driver. 

Mahiru Koizumi as a Reserve Course Student

While Mahiru was interested in the idea of going into Hope’s Peak, she wasn’t confident enough in her photography skills to go through with the entrance exam. 

At the insistence of her best friend Sato, Mahiru ended up in the Reserve Course so they can fight for the chance to be special.

While she didn’t mind the work provided by her classes, Mahiru took notice of how her peers had a hard time with paying for their tuition along with even getting into the Talent program. 

She also had to deal with Sato having to fight against her old rival Natsumi who was picking fights with her while trying to get recognized herself.

She became an unofficial peace keeper of her class as she would chastise her classmates for picking fights against each other or making rude remarks.

As time went on, Mahiru herself was unable to keep up with her classes since the money to pay for them was running low. 

She would later receive an e-mail from the Steering Committee offering her a chance of entering the Talent program through an unconventional method that was funded by the school.

She had to cast that thought aside when Natsumi ended up dead and Sato is all but stated to have killed her out of frustration.

Soon vengeance would claim Sato’s life with Mahiru finding her in an empty classroom and on the brink of death with her head bleading.

Before dying, Sato begs her friend to make something special with her life and not to waste it in the Reserve Course. She knows that Mahiru will do great things in her life and that she believes in her.

Casting her doubts aside and refusing to let her friend’s death be in vain, she accepted the Steering Committee’s offer by participating in the Hope Cultivation Project.

do you have any places you'd recommend visiting in japan? or any tips? especially as a naruto fan? (i'm thinking of traveling there next year so i'd love to hear your thoughts) thank you in advance! i love your blog

Thank you and yes definitely! I’ve only been to Tokyo and around Mount Fuji (Fujinomiya and Kamakura) so I can only give you advice for these areas but I experienced a lot so I definitely have a lot to share lol (also feel free to message me if you have any specific questions!)

Also this got super long so I’ll put a keep reading line here lol

Okay so here are some tips I learned for traveling in Japan:

- They are a cash based society so credit/debit cards aren’t accepted in most places (even restaurants and stores won’t take them)

- If you’re not used to traveling by subway and figuring out how to get around apps like Google Maps and Japan Transit can be a lifesaver

- If you’re going to be in a specific city for a while look into getting an IC card for the subway since they are easier to manage than the tickets (when using tickets you put it into the stall but make sure you take it back before going through! You’ll have to put it into the stall when you get to where you are going - does that make sense lol)

- The Google Translate app has a camera function for reading Kanji and Kana on signs and translating it and it’s actually very useful! (Most major signs in Tokyo like at train/subway stations will have English but if you’re going into the countryside this won’t be the case.)

- Not as many people speak English as you would think so learn some basic phrases you can use to help you get around (like asking if they speak English or how to ask where something is - message me if you’d like to know how to say some stuff!)

- Look up how to use their toilets!! Japanese bathrooms are awesome (and so are their toilets haha) but everything is usually in Kanji so it would be helpful to look up the Kanji for flush (大 - big flush; 小 - little flush) (and other stuff if you wanna use the bidet, etc)

- Usually when trying on clothes you have to take your shoes off before entering the dressing room (and always before entering someone’s house!)

- As weird as it sounds, convenience stores are your best friend (7/11, Lawson, Family Mart). Unlike in the States these stores are actually convenient lol they have a ton of food (like onigiri, soba, etc!) and anything you might need/want quickly like paper towels, toilet paper, toothpaste, band aids, water, dish detergent, sweets, tights, hair dye, etc. They also all have atms that accept most American cards (this is where I took out money all the time).

- Also research general manners in Japan, every culture has their own way of doing things and it would be polite to learn a little of what they see as polite or rude (wouldn’t want to be a gaijin offending everyone by accident lol)

That’s all I can think of for now lol one thing that really helped me get ready to visit Japan was watching a bunch of vlogs about people living in Japan (mostly Tokyo). I thought they were a lot of fun to watch and I learned a lot about what to expect when I got there. Two of my favorites are Sharla in Japan / Sharmander and Rachel and June.

In terms of Naruto stuff in Tokyo:

I 100% recommend going to J-World Tokyo - it’s only like $10 and you get to walk around this whole area that’s completely Naruto themed (complete with ninja throwing star games, a replica of Ichiraku Ramen, and Naruto music playing over the speakers). It’s completely awesome (I was losing my shit) and definitely worth the money! The area also has a One Piece and Dragon Ball section. Plus J-World is located in the mall that also has the Pokémon Center and a lot of nice shopping.Next I’d recommend definitely visiting Akihabara. This is basically a section of Tokyo that’s famous for all it’s anime/manga related stores like Animate (like a 7 story store where each floor has something different and anime related) which is where I bought some Naruto art books and used Naruto manga (obviously it’s all in Japanese but still cool to have some originals - the manga looks different in Japan - and art books are mostly pictures). Around this area you’ll find a huge amount of anime related goods from books to plushies to gacha machines. Definitely visit Animate (and Super Potato if you’re into video games) but otherwise just walk around the main strip and there’ll be so many random stores you’ll be drawn into. (The Sega arcades are also a ton of fun - Japanese arcades rock!).My last Naruto/anime related spot in Tokyo would be Nakano Broadway which is like a giant mall in Tokyo full of anime/manga/cosplay related stores (among other things). A lot here I believe is used but used things in Japan aren’t like in the States - everything (mostly) is in good quality (I got a couple Naruto and Inuyasha original mangas here too). This place is like 6 floors and is HUGE. Not everything is anime related in here but most stores are and it’s fun to wander each floor to see what cool stuff you can find.Honestly Tokyo is full of anime (like I mean it’s literally everywhere) and Naruto is very popular (plus Boruto is airing now) so you’re bound to see something Naruto or Boruto related sooner or later even if you don’t visit these places.

Non Naruto Recommendations:

Alright so I don’t know if you watch Studio Ghibli movies but if so I definitely recommend going to the Studio Ghibli museum in Tokyo. It’s only about $10 and, I can’t stress this enough, IT’S AMAZING!! I honestly wasn’t expecting much but let me tell you it is so cool inside it’s 100% worth it (unfortunately can’t take pics inside). But be careful because you have to get tickets like a month in advance and they only go on sale for a specific day every month - here’s where you can find information about the tickets

I would also recommend visiting some shrines and temples while you’re there. They are all very beautiful and even if you can’t read about the history they are really cool to see plus it’s cool to be able to participate in this part of their culture by prayer, fortune telling in the bigger ones and/or collect the shrine stamps. I went to a few but the big ones that were really cool in Tokyo were the Meiji Shrine and Sensoji Temple (Sensoji is really cool as it’s in Asakusa and has a huge market full of awesome things to buy leading up to it and you could even rent a kimono to wear for the day!).

If you’re interested in shopping (for clothes and just awesome Japanese things like plushies, accessories, etc) Definitely check out Takeshita street in Harajuku, Tokyo. There’s soooo much shopping and even if you don’t wanna buy anything it’s a lot of fun to see the cool fashion everyone is wearing or to just browse through the array of stores (definitely check out Kiddy Land btw it’s so cute you’ll wanna die…in a good way lol).

Mount Fuji, of course, is beautiful. I didn’t get to actually see it much because apparently in summer and early fall it’s surrounded by clouds a lot but the little I did see of it was breathtaking. I also climbed it which is the hardest thing I’ve ever done (and completely out of character like exercise? me???) but it was really awesome lol
