Anya's mother loved her so, SO much. It's clear she is not in this situation willingly, but she is doing everything in her limited power to brighten the cold, caged little world she and her daughter are trapped in. We saw how Ania was treated by the scientists back in Chapter 1. Given that they made it clear there that Ania is a test subject and not a child in their eyes, I can't see them taking the time to give her spacebuns or add lace trim to her hospital gown so it looks more like a dress. More than likely, Ania's mother did that for her. Even though she was trapped there and suffering herself, she took the time and energy to try and make Ania's world that little bit happier.

It really makes you realize where Anya got her altruism.

i think what bothers me about a lot of "girl power" narratives is that they function on the implicit idea on the idea that women can become worthy of respect. and i happen to think that really caring about women means believing they already are worthy of respect. that historical seamstresses and soccer moms and forgotten sisters and sweet polite little girls and someone's weird grandma matter just as much as the warriors and politicians, even if they, personally, never accomplish anything "cool."

Keep calling it the Gulf of Mexico or whatever your term is for it. Do not allow the Republican regime to label that body of water the Gulf of America to the world. The name came from a the term Mexica, what the Aztecs called themselves. It’s been called the Gulf of Mexico since the 1600s.

Keep calling it Mount Denali. The original name before it was Mount McKinley. Don’t let the First Nations be erased.

It may sound stupid and petty. But it is an attempt to rewrite history and make us forget the origins. It is a literal white washing of history. This type of censorship is a beginning to greater evils.
