seen ur hsr charas and there's only one thing in my mind....
h-how u got all of the mats?? 🗿🗿
(i mean yea, there's "ways")
oooohhhhh but prob just good management of the trailblaze power/fuels or r they just leveled up? (i meant the others,,, (*´ω`*) ) like genuinely curious fufu
Hello, hello~
To be completely honest, the main reason I’ve been able to advance in the game so fast is because I’ve been sick and resting - so no class nor work for me - which means I’ve had a lot of time to do nothing other than playing. It’s partially why I’ve been able to reach lvl 36 in under a week, compared to Genshin where it took me almost twice the time to do so;;
When it comes to mats, I’ve set up a bit of a system for myself!
UTC because it got… really, really long - I did not think this game would have me this excited, alas here we are - almost 760 words of me just rambling about it…
Tumblr media
I try getting exactly what I need rather than grinding and hoarding as many mats for the future; if I need, let’s say, 3 character ascension materials then I’ll set the rewards to get me exactly 3 mats!
Since I’m at Equilibrium lvl 2 and only have until lvl 3 to set, I know I’ll be getting 2-3 drops per round, so I’ll set it to use exactly the needed amount of Trailblaze Powder so as to not waste it.
I’ve also used up a lot, and I mean a lot, of the Trailblaze Fuel, which means I haven’t had to wait as much time to have the Trailblaze Powder filled up again.
Then there’s the local shops for each location, you have them in Herta’s Space Station, Jarilo-IV, and the Xianzhou Luofu! They use unique world currency that you have to get via quests and progressing through the story, but they have a lot of materials for both Light Cones and Character Ascension! There’s also the rewards you get from spending a certain amount in each shop where they give you Stellar Jade, Wrap Tickets, and other materials.
Another pretty good way to level up your characters fast is to claim the Level up rewards Pom-Pom gives, some of the drops are Trailblaze Fuel, Travel Guide, Adventure Logs, Refined Aether, Condensed Aether, Wrap Tickets, etc.
Then there’s the classic Embers Exchange (the little blue things you get from the Wraps), where you’ll get Trace and Light Cone ascension materials from 4-12 Embers, this resets each month so you have plenty of time to get them!
Other than that, I tend to work on all the characters at once when it comes to leveling them up and ascending them; I don’t prioritize my main team from the others, though I tend to treat my favorite characters a little better, I don’t know if that has helped me much but I thought I might add it? I do tend to try and always have all my characters at a certain ATK and ascension level - mostly because the game relies a lot on having different characters with different paths and elements. I kind of, just click add and see if I have enough for them to reach the next level, lol.
I do tend to neglect Relics a lot, mostly since I can’t really get the five star sets yet and I’d rather wait until I can get my hands on the good stuff than waste my resources on something that I’ll be replacing, so I can’t give much advice for them (T^T);; I tend to mostly use the ones I get from chests and completing quests/missions but it’s worked quite well so far!
These are all my tips and reminders for material compiled into a list:
1) Don’t hoard yet! Try getting only what you need, that way you’ll save Trailblaze Powder and grind for different materials.
2) World Shops are your best friends, they’re a quick way to get your hands on materials and give you rewards the more you spend on them.
3) Don’t be too afraid of using your Trailblaze Fuel, it’s there for you to use!
4) Some characters are easier to grind for, some are harder - some use the same materials as others, some will be the only character that needs a certain material: make a mental (or physical) list of characters that have similar materials and choose who to level up first and if you’ll grind for both of them or not.
5) Learn to prioritize what talents/cones/characters you want, even with all of what I’ve said; there will be times a character will be slightly behind, that’s okay - just focus on having fun and on the ones you’ll use the most.
6) Do both the Simulated Universe and Hall of Echos, if I had to pick one I’d recommend Herta’s SU since it gives weekly rewards for points and hands out EXP and materials as well, it also doesn’t use Trailblaze Power so you’re free to do it as many times as you wish.
7) The game is incredibly generous, it’s not afraid to give you materials the more you progress in the story and levels.
Hope this helps;; it’s kind of (very) long but I racked my brain to give as many tips as possible!

Room Service! - Bakugo Katsuki
warnings: smut! (minors gtfo), oral (male receiving & female receiving), mentions of cum, size kink, mirror sex (cause it slaps), just a raunchy hook up between two consenting adults (so pro hero katsukiii)
Tonight was making your job really fucking annoying. You sat at your desk answering phone calls about which pro hero would be staying at your hotel (the only bane of your existence).
Of course you can’t disclose that information because of privacy but you didn’t even know that yourself. You sigh as you hang up the phone on yet another greedy fangirl trying to get closer to whomever would be staying here.
You start to wonder who it might be; that 7 foot tall red head or maybe the sexy blonde who could make you blow whenever he wanted.
It was no secret you’d been a fan of Mr. Dynamight since his earlier days of hero work; your coworkers often caught you doodling your name and his last name on a piece of paper like a high school girl with a monster crush. Your mind wandered, thinking of what you’d do-what you’d say if Dynamight walked into your lobby right-
“Yo. I’ve got a reservation under Katsuki Bakugo.” A raspy voice rang in your ears to snap you out of your daydream, making you jump in surprise. Holy shit, it’s him! Fuck. Stay calm.
“Oh! U-uh.. Welcome Mr. Dynamigh- I mean Bakugo.” You stutter, palms clammy and shaking as you look his name up in the computer.
“You new or somethin’?” Bakugo asked, red eyes peering over the counter and straight down at your body.
Even though this isn’t his first time staying here for vacations he’s never seen a hot little thing like you working the desk. All dressed up in an orange button up blouse and a black pencil skirt he could just lift up and have his way with you in. Damn you look good in orange.
You notice his gaze and turn your attention back to the computer, internally screaming as you realize Katsuki Bakugo is fucking staring at you.
“No. Actually this is my third month here. I usually work mornings but we’re unfortunately incredibly shortstaffed tonight so.. here I am.” You nervously laugh, spelling his name wrong about fifty times out of anxiousness before finally finding his name and room number.
“Room 202, sir. Would you like for me to escort you?” You question, standing from your seat and stretching your limbs since you’ve been sitting in that damned chair all night.
Bakugo drank the shape of your body in, following your curves with his eyes and licking his lips enough for you to see.
“Nah, I got it. You just sit your pretty ass down. I might call you for somethin’ later.” Katsuki says with a wink, hauling his luggage in those big strong arms of his off to the elevator, fuck.
Is he being hot on purpose?
You’re left at your desk hot and bothered. You couldn’t help it but your mind was just filled with all the filthy things you’d do to Katsuki. Thank god no one else came through the lobby for most of the night because with the way you felt right now, how could a girl focus on anything?
Tumblr media
Almost an hour goes by quickly, your daydreams and fantasies haulting when you hear the phone ring. Sigh. You reluctantly pick it up, rolling your eyes as you brace to hear yet another fan girl’s screaming.
“Hello, This is Y/N. How can I help you?” You say monotonously, looking down at your nails.
“Hey, sexy desk lady. This you?” The same raspy voice that ached your pussy sang to you.
“Th-this is she.” You gasp, so entranced that you actually answered to the nickname.
“What’s on the menu? I hope all meals include sexy concierges.” He says, his smirk audible. “‘M hungry.”
“Oh. Well we do have a steak dinner I could bring up to you. How does that sound?” You stutter, hardly able to seem professional with his blatant flirting.
“Perfect. Oh and tell your boss or whoever the fuck you answer to that your shift is over. I want you in my room.” Katsuki declared, confidence dripping over every word.
“B-But sir, I can’t just-“ You try to speak, interrupted.
“Customer’s always right.” He teased before hanging up, making sure you got the point.
You take in a breathe, taken aback by how swiftly he can turn you on just by speaking to you. You stand from your chair, almost falling back down from the shakiness of your legs. Fuck it if Bakugo wanted you so badly, here you come. Stumbling into the kitchen you put in Bakugo’s order and tell your manager that the Pro-Hero wants you to deliver his food and keep him company.
“Shit! Hopefully he leaves a good tip. He’s gonna put in such a good rating for us and....” She rambled, the rest of her quarrel falling on deaf ears. You were too busy creaming in your panties at the thought of Bakugo grabbing you by the fucking hair and just-
“Order up!” The chef yells snapping you out of your mindless filth. He’s wheeling over the room service cart for you to take upstairs and shouting something about giving it to him hot.
“Smile, Y/N. Make a good first impression.” Your manager said, leading you to the elevator with one hand on your back.
The ride up felt like the longest elevator ride in history. The walk down the hallway seemed even longer as you look for his room.
200...201....202.
You stand at his door, heart threatning to leap out of your chest as you knock softly.
“Who is it?” Katsuki shouted through the door and some loud rock music.
“Room Service!” You manage, hoping you hid your nervousness well. You hear the music die down and the lock of the door click unlocked.
As the door swung open your eyes beheld the image of Bakugo’s toned and muscular torso without a shirt. His sweatpants hung lazily on his hips, the waistband of his boxers showing proudly. As your eyes unknowingly travel further down you get an eyeful of what he’s packing. And baby it is heat.
His dick-print was so prominent it was almost astounding . Is this him soft? You quickly look back upwards at the tall God in front of you and look at his handsome face. Gruff and just manly looking. His hair was tossed all over his head, eyes low and intense as he smirked at you. How on earth can one man be this attractive?
“Ah. Right on time. Get yer ass in here.” Bakugo rasped, groaning at the sight of you. You push yourself and the cart inside, swallowing the lump in your throat. Bakugo walks in front of you and puts out the joint he smoked just fresh out of the shower.
The employee in you told you to scold him for smoking in the building. But for now, hell, let him do whatever he wants. You push the cart into the small living area of his suite, Bakugo sitting on the loveseat in front of you.
“Damn. You look good behind that cart, ya know that?” He says, looking you up and down with those plush lips between his teeth.
You feel your body get hot, not a single thought behind your eyes.
“I-I u-uhm.” You choke. Katsuki stands from the couch and walks towards you like a lion who had just cornered a gazelle. His hands pull you towards him, face so close to yours he could kiss you if he wanted.
“Speak up, sexy. It’s no fun if you don’t talk back. Don’t tell me you’re nervous.” He purred, leaning into your neck and leaving a chaste kiss.
Your eyes flutter, moaning softly as his kisses become deeper. The trail he left led all the way up to your ear, gasping as he nibbles lightly on your earlobe.
“I-I’m sorry. I am a little ner- ah- vous.” You mewl, feeling like you might drop to the floor as his hands snuck down from your waist and onto your ass.
“Mhm. Just relax. I don’t bite. Well, from the looks of it you like a little biting don’t you?” He teased, letting his hands do more talking for him.
His hands knead and caress your body as he leaned down to kiss you. It was the hottest kiss you’ve ever experienced; his big hands exploring your body while nibbling your bottom lip as he pulled away for air only to dive right back into your mouth. He picked you up and led you to the loveseat; hands planted what seemed like permanently into your ass as he sat you on his lap.
He starts undoing the buttons of your shirt, eventually getting annoyed with the stupid blouse and just ripping it open. You gasp as all the buttons pop and fall on the floor, your bra on full display for Katsuki as he hissed.
“Fuck. ‘So sexy.” He huffs, pulling your tits out of your bra and taking one into his mouth. You’re turning into jelly in his hands, mindlessly grinding your aching pussy against his groin and moaning into the room.
“Shit. You’re an eager one, aren’t you?” Katsuki rasped, pressing a thumb onto your covered clit for you to grind on. Your breathing hitched, knowing he can feel how wet you are through your panties as he took your nipple back into his mouth. Suddenly he stops, causing you to whine from the loss if his mouth.
“Wait, baby. I wanna see what that pretty mouth can do.” Katsuki lulled, pressing his fingers in your mouth while you happily suck on them. You climb off his lap and situate yourself on your knees in front of him, pulling his sweats and boxers down without a second thought.
Fuck was he big. He had girth and length with these sickeningly prominent veins, his pretty dick already deliciously leaking pre-cum. You try not to moan at the upward curve in it, imagining all the spots he can hit with it in just the right angle. And it was heavy too, the spring of his dick leaving his briefs causing it to smack right on his abs. You look up at Bakugo’s eyes who haven’t left you since you got on your knees.
“Go on, sexy. Show me what you got.” He coos, sighing as you take him into your wet mouth.
You tease him a little, swiping your tongue over the head to lick up some of that pre cum. You’re staring at him with hazy eyes, sticking your tongue out and sliding your mouth down until you’re taking him into your throat. Gagging and drooling you bob your head, slurping a bit as he grabbed your hair.
“S-Shiit, baby.” He moans, your drool dripping all over the place as he fucked your mouth with a fist full of your hair. As he’s pulling you up and down on his cock you hollow your cheeks in time with his movements, tears streaming down your face and smudging your mascara.
“You look so fucking hot with my dick in your mouth. Fuck.” He hissed, letting go of your hair to let you get up and breathe. You take his cock out of your mouth with a *pop* and stroke him, all your slobber being the perfect lube as you pump and twist up and down with your hand.
Bakugo leans into the loveseat, his head hanging back into the chair as he cussed. You were making him feel so good, shit you were pretty close to making him cum.
“Want me inside you, baby?” He managed, your mouth and hands taking his breath away. You pull away from his dick again, blinking away your tears.
“Uh-huh.” You nod, the fastest thing you could say. Before you know it you’re scooped up and flung onto the bed, your skirt and panties discarded somewhere.
You don’t even ask him to return the favor. To be honest you didn’t need him to. But the way his tongue flicked your clit around was enough to intoxicate anyone. You can’t help the loud moans you let out, legs trembling as he stuck his tongue inside you. He teased your folds with his tongue, sloppily making out with your pussy until you’re completely blank-headed.
“Look at me, baby.” He hummed, immediately wrapping his lips around your clit.
Your eyes roll back, trying hard to look at his face as he devoured you. His fierce eyes caught your hazy gaze, a fucked out expression written all over your face as he quite literally sucked your orgasm out of you. Katsuki’s lips left your pussy, his chin glistening in your slick with a shit eating grin on his face. Maybe he should stay here more often.
“Heh. First time in my life a woman’s left me speechless.” He says sitting up, his dick standing at attention right above your cunt. The bastard starts tapping his cock on your already sensitive clit with a devilish smirk, biting his lip at your reaction.
Every tap made your eyes cross, your puffy clit throbbing at the sensation. Your whines become desperate, causing Katsuki to crave the satisfaction of your begging. With a raised eyebrow he pushed himself only half way inside you, a sharp gasp ripping from your throat.
“You want it? Hm? I’m talkin’ to you.” Katsuki teased, raising your face to look at him by your chin.
God you looked so sexy like this; legs spread, thighs quivering from all the pleasure, a tantalizingly dumb look on your face.
“Y-yes.. Katsuki p-please.” You plead, mewling when he starts moving but way too slow for your liking.
“All of it, yeah?” He further questioned, really enjoying teasing you. The look on your face as he plunged deeper inside you just enough to stretch you was priceless, a little shriek escaping you.
“Yess, god yes.” You bellow, desperate for your itch to finally be scratched. With a dark chuckle Katsuki slams all of his length inside your gummy walls, your head thrown back into the pillows at the brute force. And that dull stretch felt so good, as if Katsuki’s dick was made to fuck you.
“So biig- ngh!” You struggle to say, covering your mouth as you notice you’re screaming for him. Bakugo takes your hand off your mouth and pinned it above your head, smirking down at the dazed face before him.
“I know, baby. So good for me. So fuckin’ tight.” Bakugo rambles, rutting his hips into yours as he lifts your thighs up and throws them over his broad shoulders.
The new position sent shockwaves through your whole body, your cries so audible you swore you heard them echo in his room. His pace was slow but deliberate, that fucking curve hitting that spot over and over again.
“Oh my god! Oh my godd!” You chant, your wet walls clenching down onto his cock threatening to cum all over him.
“Thats it, cum all over my fuckin’ cock.” Bakugo urged, taking one hand and rubbing insane circles into your throbbing clit his thrusts becoming more brutal as you feel him hit your cervix in the most pleasurable way.
You say something about cumming for him or something, the sentence scrambled as you boil over. Your face was too sinful for words to explain, tongue hanging out as you pant and fat tears bubbling in your eyes.
“I’m not finished. Turn around.” Katsuki demands, smacking your thigh to get you to muster whatever strength you have left to turn around.
Next thing you know you’re bent over, Bakugo plunging back inside as if he had already missed the feeling of your sweet walls. His dick was made for this position, the upward curve hitting that sweet spot perfectly.
“God, look at you..” Bakugo says, his gaze meeting the full length mirror in front of his bed. “So fucking sexy.” He muttered, pulling you by your hair to make you behold what he was looking at.
Your eyes meet the glass reflection of you being absolutely railed senselessly by a man you’d desired since you were a teenager. And it all felt so good. You watch his movements, every flex of his muscles, every heave of his chest as he panted. He was so gorgeous. Even when he was pounding your poor pussy into submission; all sweaty and sticky he was really something to marvel at.
“Fuuck you’re gonna make me cum. That’s it baby, just like that.” Bakugo moans, grabbing a fist full of your hair and smacking your ass all while locking eyes with the mirror and back down again to where you both connect.
You’re so fucked out you can hardly speak, chanting filthy words to coax him into cumming while throwing your ass back on him in time with his thrusts. He’s cussing up a storm, his pace speeding up as he hummed nasty words back at you.
“Want me to cum, baby? Yeah? Shiit, you’re pussy’s so fucking good.” He groans, snapping his hips into you and biting a little into your shoulder. Soon you’re cumming for him again; you don’t know how or when but a mixture of his disgusting words and that big fat cock sliding in and out of you just pushed you over the edge yet again.
“Fuck.” Bakugo hissed, pulling out of your gummy walls to cum all over your ass. He’s pumping himself for a while, staring down at your glazed ass and moaning at the sight.
Bakugo nearly shoves himself back inside you when he sees you reach back and swipe some onto your finger and taste his cum.
“Shit.” You both gasp, panting and sharing the same high as Bakugo jumps up to get a towel. You lay limp and damn near lifeless on the bed as he wipes your ass off, smacking it once it was clean.
“That was the best fucking room service I’ve ever ordered.”

Going Live
Spencer Reid x Reader
Synopsis: You're an intern for the FBI but double as a camgirl in your spare time. You thought you kept things pretty well under wraps but who knew one of your mentors watched you all along.
Warnings: smut, unprotected p in v action (remember to wrap it), face fucking, use of sex toys, tiny bit of degrading
a/n: writing this in the setting of season 10/11 because spencer looks so damn good and i wanted to include my girl tara
also part 2 of more than physics should be up later today! hope you enjoy -🧞‍♀️
Tumblr media
You had been a paid intern for the FBI for about a year, paid being said lightly. But the job was definitely worth it. While being under the wing of the BAU you had not only learned so much about your hopefully future profession, but you had made a family with the team. Especially under the wing of Tara Lewis, she had been there for a little while but you looked up to her work and she was more than happy to offer advice and a good wine night.
The team knew you had a second job on the side but weren’t exactly sure what it was, just that you worked from home. They respected your personal life enough to stay out of it, however that didn’t stop Rossi from offering you a little extra because “that's what uncles are supposed to do”. You would always wave him off and say you could handle yourself, because you could.
You thoroughly enjoyed working. The money and gifts were obviously a big reward but there was always something so exciting about being on camera. Maybe it was how risque it was, being exposed for thousands to see. Or the fact that many were pleasuring themselves to the sight of you.
It was Friday night and you were getting your setup ready. You already had your outfit and glam on. Someone had sent you a set from your wishlist, lilac lace hugged your body in all the right places, accentuating all your assets and boosting your confidence. In your hair were the same color streaks you did with a tinting spray. You set the camera and laptop up in front of your bed. Silk sheets and plush pillows behind you where you could rest comfortably before your show started.
Little did you know across town Spencer Reid was getting ready to tune in to said show. He was never one for tech, having Garcia still hand him paper files and would refuse to upgrade his phone. He had gotten a computer just so he could video chat with doctors quickly about new medicine for his mother. However he quickly found out there was so much more the internet had to offer.
_
He had stumbled across your show one lonely night. Spencer couldn’t see himself going out to find a one night stand so the pleasure of his hand it was. He was looking through videos when he saw the thumbnail with a girl wearing glasses similar to the ones you wear when you forget contacts. His curiosity got the best of him and if he was a cat he’d be one life down. He couldn’t believe the sight on the screen in his lap.
There you were the bubbly intern, body trembling as waves of pleasure washed over you from the pink wand you held over your clit. He was delightfully flustered and the moans spilling from the computer’s speakers weren’t doing much to help.
He was entranced by you writhing in pleasure but was knocked back into reality after hearing you giggle. God he loved when you made that noise in the office, usually after fake flirting with Hotch or hearing about JJ’s boys. But this situation was totally different and if he was honest with himself he was very into it.
You reached over to grab a large pink dildo. Taking it in your mouth before swiping it through your folds. It easily slipped in and you started rapidly pumping it into you chasing your orgasm.
Spencer was too enthralled to even think about touching himself. He was using the gift which was his eidetic memory to the best of his ability to make this something he’d never forget.
You came with a loud moan, hips lifting and grinding against the toy to chase the friction. Quickly you turned off the wand and took the toy out. You sat up and looked into the camera before sucking it off. Spencer's eyes widened as he let out a groan shifting on his bed.
“Alright guys that was fun for tonight,” you said as you sat criss cross on the bed. “I didn’t think I’d be able to get to five.”
FIVE?? He thought in his head. He felt like he was gonna explode just watching those last few minutes. How was he supposed to last watching you make yourself cum five times.
“Thank you so much for all the tips and support! My links are all in the description and I’ll see you angels next Friday! Muahh” you signed off blowing the camera a kiss.
Spencer knew it was wrong of him to view a coworker in such an exposed light but he couldn’t help himself. So he spent the night viewing some of your old videos which brought him to what he swears to be the best orgasm of his life. Of course he sent gracious tips and made sure to buy little items off the wishlist, mentally noting to return every Friday night. Even if it meant hiding in the bathroom from Morgan in their shared hotel room on cases. That was two months ago.
_
Just as you finished your session the phone rang signaling a case. Quickly you got in the shower and put on comfy business clothes since you usually stayed with Garcia doing extra research and taking notes. You quickly grabbed your bag and keys, making your way straight to the office.
In the elevator you heard someone calling to keep it open. Spencer made his way in, buttoning his cardigan and adjusting his bag, quickly saying thank you. You pressed the button to the floor as you felt a pair of eyes on you. Looking over Spencer was eyeing you with a confused look on his face. You were about to question him when he spoke up first.
“I thought you had streaks in your hair”
“I did… Earlier tonight but they washed out.” He looked even more confused, then his brain put two and two together. He just realized what he had said. For a genius this wasn’t one of his brightest moments.
You looked at him amused as a deep blush spread from his neck to the tips of his ears. There was only one way someone would know about your quick hair change: by watching your show. The door to the elevator opened and you walked out giggling as he started sputtering apologies behind you. You quickly cut him off.
“Spence, it's alright. If you want we can talk about this later because right now you have a bad guy to catch. But may I suggest making your name something less obvious, not that I don’t love ‘magiclover187’.” He stood there mouth gaping as you patted his shoulder and walked up to the conference room to meet the rest of the team.
_
The case was one of the easier ones. Very minimal killing and the team was back by Tuesday morning, ready for a week of paperwork. Spencer had been dancing around you the whole time, he could barely keep eye contact with you and would rush to leave the room if you walked in. If he was this flushed around you with clothes on you could just imagine how much of a mess he would be when he watched you perform. Which brought an idea to your head.
Friday rolled around and you walked over to his desk where he was nose deep in one of his Russian books. You put your hand in it to bring it down. Once he noticed it was you he was about to start with another ramble of apologies when you stopped him.
“Alright I’m tired of the awkwardness and I want my friend back,” you said with a soft smile. “Why don’t you come over tonight and we can have that talk. I’ll even order a pizza and we can watch Doctor Who.”
“Y/n are you sure? I-I mean it is um uh Friday.. And ya know you usually film,” he said as he played with his tie.
You giggled at how nervous he was. Poor little genius didn’t know he was the only one with tricks up their sleeve.
“It’s fine I promise. Just a night with my favorite customer,” you said winking at him. He choked and looked around to see if anyone was looking at his outburst.
“I’m kidding.. Sort of,” you trailed off. “But I mean it about you coming over. I’m going home now but I expect you there in an hour with drinks.”
With that you turned around and walked off, adding a little extra sway to your hips. Obviously that did the trick as you heard a small groan behind you. Spencer dropped his head back as he started wracking his brain to figure out how to live through the night without making a bigger fool of himself or cuming in his pants.
_
You know maybe you were evil, you thought to yourself as you put on the finishing touches to your outfit for the night. Once you got home you sped into the shower to freshen up for him to come over and get your setup ready. You were wearing a cream colored strappy bodysuit. Over it was a large cardigan, almost resembling the maroon one he owned, strange. To top it off you were wearing your glasses and your legs were adorned with your favorite thigh high socks.
The three knocks on the door instantly made a smirk appear on your face. This might just be one of your best schemes yet. Looking through the peephole you saw Spencer gnawing on his bottom lip holding a few bottles of soda. Taking a deep breath you opened the door greeting him with all the casualty in the world.
“Hey! I’m glad you came, come in.”
He followed you in and tried to keep his eyes above your neck, trying to act like he wasn’t getting completely hard by just your outfit.  You sat down on your couch and patted it for him to sit next to you. He took the seat and gulped not really sure what you had planned.
“Um how long for the pizza to get here?”
“The pizza’s not coming Spence,” you said shaking your head. “But you are.”
You leaned forward to place your hand on his on the couch. “I want you to fuck me on camera Spencer,” you said with sweet confidence, fluttering your lashes. His eyes kept flashing between your cleavage showing through the cardigan and your lips before finally landing on your eyes. He didn’t see a single hint of humor in them, nothing transparent but lust.
He pulled his hand from under yours to place in your hair, pulling you into a heated kiss. You pushed back on his chest a bit to try and get some air.
“Save that magic for the show,” you said as you pulled him up to lead to your bedroom.
The camera was set at a little bit of a lower angle. The audience would just be able to see you and at most Spencer’s chest. You had made sure it was fine and even turned it on as a test so he could see what he looked like. After you got everything out of the way you hit the button to go live and instantly people started flooding in. If the bulge in his pants told you anything, it was that he was excited to be on the other side of the screen this time.
“Hello my angels!” you said into the camera, Spencer was taken back at what was going on. After months of lusting over the young intern he was finally seeing the show in person.
“Today I have a special guest with me. My very good friend, the Doctor,” you took his hand to pull him into frame. “He’s very excited to be here,” you said, hand moving down to palm him through his pants.
His hand reached out and wrapped around your throat, making you look up at him. Huh. This was a new Spencer you wouldn’t mind seeing more often.
“Let's not play games princess. Or else the only thing making you cum tonight are your pathetic little fingers. Am I clear?”
You shivered at the intensity of his voice instantly trying to nod the best you could within his grip. He let go and you went back to task at hand, undoing his pants and pulling them down along with his boxers. He was long and pink. Precum already spilling out of the pretty tip, you couldn’t wait to have him in your mouth, among other places. You wasted no time in licking a broad stripe along a vein under it. His hand went to grab a handful of your hair giving it a testing tug as a warning to stop teasing.
Your hand went to grip what couldn’t fit in your mouth but you tried your best to take him all in. You could hear the pings of tips and comments being said. Spencer could too and leaned over slightly to read them.
“Face fuck her,” he murmured. He pulled you off of his cock and looked down into your eyes, “Is that what you want princess? Hm.” His thumb went to clean up the spit dripping down your chin before rubbing your lips. “You want me to fuck your face?”, he said in a condescendingly sweet voice.
“Yes Doctor please! Fuck my throat.”
“Good girl.”
Both his hands made their place nested in your hair, guiding you to his cock. He wasted no time in being brutal. Tears were leaking down your cheeks as he kept on hitting the back of your throat. Spencer was enjoying himself to the fullest letting out curses and praises at how good your mouth felt. He knew he wasn’t going to last much longer and you could feel it too as he started to throb in your mouth. He then pulled you off, a trail of spit connected from your lips and his cock.
“Such a dirty whore for me. Show everyone how messy I make you,” he took your head and made you turn to look in the camera. Comments pinged talking about how pretty you looked with mascara running and smudged lipstick.
“Thank them and ask if you deserve to cum on my cock,” Who knew Spencer had this in him. But you were loving every second of it and put on your best pair of puppy dog eyes to beg the camera for Spencer to split you in half. And you had no shame in doing so.
“Please let the Doctor fuck me. I’ve been such a good girl for you guys,” you pleaded into the camera. The audience was pleased with your begging as they said you deserved it for being so good.
Spencer took his time in unbuttoning the cardigan you had on, teasingly rubbing your arms as he slipped it off. His hands then went to the bodice of it, groping your breasts and teasing your nipples through the fabric.
“Ah shit doctor, please fuck me already.”
Who was he to deny you of such a thing when you asked so nicely. He pushed you back down on the silk sheets. Pulling you by your thighs to the end of the bed where he moved the thong of the bodysuit to the side and slid his cock up your folds. Lubricating it in your juices before slipping right in. You both gasped at the intrusion, his hands grabbing your hips with a force sure to leave bruises. He used the leverage to set a brutal pace, ramming his cock into you.
Your ears were ringing from the pleasure but you could hear the constant pings of your tip box and comment section flooding.
“Shit baby you’re so tight. Perfect little pussy squeezing me so good.” You babled off thank yous and whimpers from being so close to your climax.
You felt Spencer stop for a second and reach over to grab something. Then you felt it. Your wand set to the highest setting placed on your clit as he started to thrust into you again. Sounds of your moans and skin slapping together filled the room along with the buzzing of the vibrator. You were sure there was going to be a noise complaint notice on your door in the morning.
You were so close to having the bubble in your stomach burst and so was he.
“I'm gonna cum Doctor,” you practically yelled. “Please cum inside me!”
“Cmon princess. Let me feel you let go.”
With that the knot broke and you swore you died and went to heaven. Your walls squeezing Spencer led him to his end a little after you. Thrusts faltering and groaning at the feeling of pleasure washing over him. He turned off the wand and put it to the side before slipping out of you.
Looking into the camera you gasped at your appearance. Hair disheveled and face messy from crying in pleasure multiple times that night. Your mixed release leaking down your thigh and onto the sheets.
There were non stop pings of people calling Spencer a lucky bastard and asking for him to come back next Friday. Spencer nodded his head over to your bathroom to get you guys something to clean up with and let you do your closing.
“Thanks for the love tonight angels,” you said with a smile on your face, entirely blissed out. “As always the links are in the description and I’ll see you guys next Friday. Maybe I’ll talk to the Doctor about future appearances. Bye!”
With that you fell back on your bed and closed your eyes. Your body jolted at a sudden coldness between your thighs.
“Right sorry,” Spencer whispered.
“So where did that come from?” you looked at him with an eyebrow raised.
“A magician never reveals his secrets,” he stated seriously.
You giggled and took his hand, “Thanks for doing this with me.”
“Of course. Now why don’t you shower while I get us a pizza. For real this time.”
“Or we can shower together then call the pizza.”
He contemplated it before smiling at you, “You always have the best ideas.”
“Don’t I know it.. Doctor.”

Today couldn't be more beautiful, the sun is shining her grand radiance and the forest is full of life as you listen to the singing of birds from your comfortable spot on a large tree branch that's hanging over top of Geralt. He's currently focused intently on fishing out a djinn to hopefully cure his sleep apnea that's been really bothering him as of late. Well, that's at least the reasoning he's claimed.
You've tried to help him with herbs, potions, and more sensual physical activities. But nothing has appeared to work, so here he is, grumpier then usual as he throws a fishing net into the river in hopes that he'll snag himself a djinn in a bottle.
Laying your back against the long branch, one of your legs swings casually back and forth as you listen to your surroundings. Your stomach growls from lack of any sufficient food in the last two days when your ears suddenly hear the tell tale singing of a certain bard as he strolls through the woodland in search of his long time friends, "Cause you all know. That this bard. Loved ladies from Nilfgaard. 'Cause Nilfgaard can kiss my..." Sings the bard as he wanders down the trail until his eyes land on your Witcher, "Geralt! Hello. What's it been months? Years? What is time, anyway? I heard you and Y/N...wherever she is....were in town.' His voice is just as cheerful and upbeat as you'd remembered, "Are you following me, you scamp? I mean I'm flattered and everything, but I think that feisty lady of yours may start to get jealous." Rambles Jaskier as he takes out his flask.
He takes a small sip before offering it to Geralt, who ignores him, Jaskier shakes this off and keeps to his questioning when suddenly you drop down from seemingly out of nowhere. Doing a fantastic job at scaring the shit out of Jaskier in your abrupt arrival, he yelps before stumbling back a few feet. "Dear gods Y/N have you been just hanging around in the treetops like some type of...of..bat?" He stammers breathlessly, a hand over his thudding heart.
Smirking at him you throw him a quick wink, "Only for you my humble bard." He stands up straight as a light blush dusts his cheeks as you turn to follow Geralt down the side of the river path, while he searches for a better spot to catch this djinn, Jaskier trailing behind you both.
"Geralt, you're fantastic at a great many things, but clearly, fishing is not one of them. Have you caught anything today? What are you fishing for, exactly?" Intrudes Jaskier as Geralt fiddles with his netting while you lean against a tree, "Is it cod? Carp?" He looks to you for a second before his attentions back on Geralt, "Pike? Bream? I'm just....I'm just listing off fish that I know. Zander? Is that a fish?" Wonders the bard as he raises a brow at you.
You simply shrug, "He's not fishing, can't sleep." Jaskier nods, not sure what to do with that information.
"Right. Good. Well, that...makes sense. In so much that it sort of...doesn't." Frowns Jaskier as he suddenly looks a bit more worried, "What's going on Geralt, talk to me."
Geralt stops before letting out a tired sigh as he looks to Jaskier, "A djinn." Is all he admits before he's back to grappling with his net.
You watch as Jaskier's face scrunches up in deep confusion, "A what?"
"I'm looking for a djinn." Grumbles Geralt as the bards face looks even more puzzled then before.
Then all at once it seems that he's finally connected the dots, a smirk breaking upon his face as he sets his hands onto either hip, "For a dj....for a djinn? A dj...like a genie?" Laughs Jaskier as he wiggles his fingers in a playful manner, "The floaty fellas with the....the bad tempers and the banned magics, that kind of genie?"
Geralt stand up once again, a hard expression across his brow while Jaskier fails at concealing his laughter, "Yes. It'll grant me wishes. It's in this river somewhere. And I can't FUCKING SLEEP!" Snaps Geralt, golden eyes glowing even brighter as his anger boils over.
Geralt glances to you for a brief moment before turning and walking further down the river path, the bard follows suite as you trail behind them, amused at Jaskier's continuous rambling about his latest adventures and the possible reason why Geralt is so sleep deprived.
"Have you ever considered why you may be feeling this way hm, let's say...oh I don't know, we find the root of the problem. I mean, maybe, just maybe this whole sleeplessness-ness has got something to do with what the druid Mousesack said to you guys in Cintra? You know, the Law of Surprise? Destiny? Being unable to escape the child that belongs to you, et cetera, et cetera?" Inquires Jaskier as you watch Geralt prepare to throw in the net.
"No! Y/N was there too and she's fine....this is something else." Grumbles your Witcher as he throws his net into the waters below.
Jaskier looks from you to Geralt, hands on his hips the whole time, "Yeah, you're probably right. But what if you're not? You know, the Countess de Stael once said to me...that destiny is just the embodiment of the soul's desire to grow." Explains Jaskier he walks past you to sit down on a log.
A small laugh escapes from your lips as you turn to the bard, "Did you sing to her before she left?" You honestly couldn't help yourself, pushing Jaskier's buttons is just a solid talent of yours.
He looks out at the water, "I did, actually, and she.." His head quickly turns to you once he realizes what that comment suggested, "Why, what are you implying?" Wonders Jaskier as he tilts his head to you, a smirk breaks out upon your face as you then bite your lip to keep silent. He gets up from the log, an abashed expression crossing his features, "Oh, we are so having this conversation. Come on, Y/N. Geralt. Tell me. Be honest. How's my singing?"
You cross your arms over your chest while casually looking out at the river and pretend that he hasn't even said anything, although you're certain Geralt on the other hand will add his two cents. He tosses his net out into the water once again before turning to Jaskier, "It's like ordering a pie and finding it has no filling." Deadpans Geralt as you burst with laughter, Jaskier looking rather taken aback as his eyes go wide in surprise.
"You need a nap! I mean are you trying to hurt my feelings, Geralt? It's...it's down-downright indecorous of you, if I'm completely honest, and.." He quickly loses interest once Geralt unveils a bottle from his net, "Wow. Wow. What is...what is that?" Questions Jaskier as Geralt holds the djinn bottle in his muddy hands, you hover over his shoulder as you stare at the thing in amazement. It doesn't look like much but the wizards seal on the bottles cork is truly telling, too bad it doesn't have a three course meal inside.
"It's a wizards seal. The djinn." Geralt confirms softly as he studies the enchanted bottle until Jaskier suddenly grabs onto the bottles other handle.
"Do you mind if I...."
"Jaskier." Snaps Geralt as you stand back to watch, deciding it more entertaining if you don't intervene.
The bard points an accusing finger in his direction, "Take it back about my filling-less pie. Take it back, you get your djinny-djinn-djinn."
Rolling your crimson eyes you set a hand on your hip, "Let go Jask."
He turns to you with a fake sneer before snapping his attention back to your stoic Witcher, "No! No, you let go, you horse's arse!" Suddenly the bottle slips from Geralt's hand as he looks down at the cork in his fist, a confused expression on his handsome features as nothing appears to happen around either of them.
Jaskier studies the bottle in his hand, looking rather disappointed, "That's a bit of an anticlimax." He mutters dismally at the boring turn of events, although you can't help but notice as a soft supernatural whispering begins to make itself known to your hypersensitive ears, then right on cue does the wind begin to pick up, the woods feeling a bit darker as the clouds go grey up above, "Or is it?" He says excitedly as he wiggles his eyebrows at you.
Crossing your arms over your chest, your nerves prick at the odd change in the atmosphere, "Shit." You mumble while Jaskier walks past Geralt, he gives you a sour look as you grimace in knowing annoyance.
Standing on the edge of the riverbank, Jaskier points to the sky, "Djinn, I have freed thee, and as of this day, I am thy lord. Firstly, may Valdo Marx the troubadour of Cidaris, be struck down with apoplexy and die. Secondly, the Countess de Stael must welcome me back with glee, open arms and very little clothing. Thirdly..." Geralt quickly pulls him back in an attempt to shut him up before something terrible happens to him.
"Jaskier! Stop. There are only three wishes." Warns Geralt as you stand next to him, the both of you staring the bard down like two disappointed parents.
"You're a fucking idiot, Jask." You add bluntly as he simply rolls his blue eyes, unbothered by this djinn considering his two friends are a Witcher and dhampire.
"Only three wishes!" Grumbles Geralt as Jaskier observes his agitated demeanor.
"Oh, come on, you got Y/N, she's quite literally the best thing that's ever happened to you...how was I to know you wanted three wishes all to yourself?" Shouts the bard over the loud enchanted winds that are rapidly starting to build, ones that are rocking the tree branches and leaves every which way, as well as your hair.
"I just want some damn peace!" Bellows Geralt in frustration.
"Well, here's your peace!" Snaps Jaskier before idiotically smashing the bottle upon the ground in a blind moment of irritation.
Geralt quickly squats down to pick up the broken shards as you reach down to do the same, while picking them up he accidentally cuts himself on a sharp edge. You can instantly smell the blood, and though you haven't given into darker temptations in a long while. You're rather hungry from lack of coin to pay for any such meals that would gladly satisfy you, and right now it feels too much.
Snapping away from Geralt, you stand to your full height as you finally notice how sickly peculiar Jaskier is starting to appear, "Uh Y/N.." Gasps the bard breathlessly as he holds a hand to his throat, "Y/N...it's the djinn!" Stammers Jaskier as he points towards the river, you snap your attention to find a wispy black and purple mass racing for the three of you over the water.
Your eyes go wide in startled bewilderment, "Geralt!" You shout just as he stands and uses his magic to propel the creature back where it decides to take off into the sky.
Your Witcher stares up at the horizon as you catch the enthralling scent of blood once more, god you should really have eaten some berries or at least stolen something earlier to avoid this terrible primal hunger. You look over to Jaskier who's not looking too hot, a tiny trail of blood seeps out of the side of his mouth, his neck forming an unnatural lump as he wheezes in pain.
Geralt snaps his golden eyes down to the panicking bard, "Jaskier." He speaks before Jask leans over, a ruby red spurt of blood bursting from out of his mouth as he tries to gasp for breath, "Y/N?" Pleads Geralt in hopes that you can help him somehow. Though you're certain that if you would get any closer, you may break and give into your deeper vampiric desires that you've held at bay for so long. The part of you that has forever kept yourself from ever truly feeling human.
Shaking your head you flicker your eyes over to him, "I...I can't....I'm too starved....I'm sorry." You breath out, taking a cautious step back, the scent of Jaskier's warm blood on the breeze is enough to make your mouth water.
He purses his lips together, knowing that you can't do much for the time being, "Fuck." Grumbles Geralt as he quickly picks up Jaskier before booking it down the trail for Roach.
——
You follow in the form of a pack of bats close behind your boys as Geralt leads Roach to a small camp in the woods. You watch as he yells in question for a doctor, Jaskier slumped to the side as he leans into Geralt's broad back. Quickly a soldier confirms that an elven healer is inside, you land on a large firm tree branch, turning back into your original form as you watch them scurry into the grand white tent.
You focus your hearing and learn that if Jaskier's wounds are not treated by proper magic remedies, then he will certainly die. A pang of worry strikes you at the thought of your bard gone, and you do feel quite terrible knowing that he's in so much pain. But to your great or at least somewhat relief does the elf give Jaskier a pain relieving liquid concoction, thus explaining that a malicious and cunning mage is imprisoned in the mayor's house in the next town over who could heal the bards wounds.
A prominent feeling of uneasiness and caution surges throughout you at the thought of meeting another mage after months of evading any at all. Soon enough they quickly exit the tent and find themselves upon Roach's back before they take off in the direction of the closest town. With a heavy sigh you jump from the tree, shifting into a pack of whimsical black bats as you fly after Geralt throughout the tree tops and evening sky.
You're flight feels short lived as a couple miles later does Geralt finally find the large brick house of the mayor, its a rather beautiful place positioned on the edge of a huge lake with woods comfortably surrounding it. Roach gallops onto the gravel road when suddenly a tough half bald bearded man walks up to them. He gives them a hard time before Geralt abruptly knocks him out with a sack of coins, much to your amusement.
He takes Roach to the stables as you fly downward towards the ground, just as Geralt walks out of the barn with Jaskier dangling over his shoulder, you hastily shift back into your more presentable self. He gives you a nod of acknowledgment before a stern and determined look appears onto his hard features as he practically strides towards the closest wooden door. You follow behind as you clench your fists together in an attempt at distracting yourself from your ever growing hunger, the blood seeping out of Jaskier's mouth smells sweet as fresh berries as it wafts into your nostrils.
He wheezes in pain with every step that Geralt takes down the wine filled hallway which is enough to keep yourself from doing anything you'll regret later. He walks through a doorway before gently setting Jaskier onto the kitchen table, you follow in after him, your crimson eyes going wide as they find a naked man holding a brown shiny jug. He stares in awe at the three of you just as he drops his jug onto the stone floor below.
What the fuck?
A large drunken half smile makes its way onto his face, "Velcome...to my vome." Cheerfully announces the grey haired naked man, his arms spread wide in greeting, other parts of him also hanging out to your great disgust.
"You're the Mayor of Rinde?" Wonders Geralt as he looks to Jaskier.
Looking anywhere but the man, you throw a hand up before resting it onto your hip, "Our day has already been weird enough, why not meet a naked man in his home to top it all off, huh?" You jest with a nervous laugh, almost certain that this fool has been enchanted. He has to be, right?
The bard makes more wheezing sounds as Geralt's brow furrows in worry, "Uh, it there a mage that lives here?" The naked man turns to something sitting near Jaskier as his face shifts to that of realization.
"Ah. De apple jvuce. She vants some. And she alvays gets...vhat she vants." Whispers the man with a telling nod, oh yes he is without a doubt under some type of spell.
Geralt turns a confused eye to you, "I don't understand. Does he want me to get him the apple juice?" You turn your eyes back to the man as he goes to sit down in a chair, you look back to Geralt with a shrug, "No idea? Let's just find this fucking mage." You grumble as Jaskier tries to nod.
Your Witcher grabs the apples juice and the scruff of the bards baby blue jacket as he goes to walk into the nearest doorway. You turn back to the naked potbellied man only to be greeted with his loud snores, shaking your head you amble after your boys. As you follow closely behind Geralt you look down to notice as a greenish mist cascades out from under the closed door. He quickly pulls it open as more billows out and into the hallway, there's nothing on the other side but an ascending staircase, to the left another closed doorway that seems to have even more of the mist coming from it.
It's strange, you can hear muffled moaning on the other side and the rapid beating of many loud heartbeats. Your questions are quickly answered as the two of them walk into the next open doorway only to stumble upon a massive orgy. You keep behind the wall as you crinkle your nose in disgust at the strong scent of sex, sweat, and perfume in the air, a less than pleased expression crossing your features at the sickening toxins.
One that most likely matches Geralt's if you didn't know any better. You listen closely as he walks through the moaning crowd before he plops Jaskier next to someone, you feel almost sick from lack of food and the smell of this place is just about driving you mad. But you can't face the mage, something just doesn't feel right.
You listen as he speaks to her, your heart falling into your throat as she replies back, that voice, you haven't heard that voice in decades. But how? How could she be here of all places to be? Shaking your thoughts from your mind you eves drop in on their conversation until she begins to give him a hard time about payment, sounding rather too sensual for your liking.
"It's spreading, fix it. And I'll pay you. Whatever the price." Mutters Geralt to the familiar mage as he looks up at her from his spot near the small stairway that she's standing on.
"You'll have to do better then juice." Answers the mage slyly as she contemplates this intriguing new proposition.
"Yennefer." She stops in her tracks, her body tense as realization crosses her masked face, "Don't be difficult." You add as Geralt steps to the side, a confused expression on his face as he looks from you to Yennefer and back to you again.
She takes a step down, a small smirk adoring her ruby red lips as she looks you over, "Now this...is a surprise, how long's it been? I honestly wasn't certain that our paths would ever cross again, I was almost hoping they wouldn't....but alas. Here you are....it's good to see you Y/N." She smiles, studying your bloodshot eyes due to your increase in hunger, she smiles, "You look, famished." Concludes the mage with a tilt of her head.
You slightly shrug, "What a kind way to say I look like I'm halfway into hell....now, save him before he bleeds anymore."
She smiles, looking down at the djinn's bottle cap, "As you command, princess Y/N." Quips Yennefer with a smirk as she looks around the room, "Ragamuffin!" And just like that the mass orgy stops, the participating villagers snapping back to reality in the process. They quickly scramble to cover themselves as Yennefer looks to the two of you, nodding for you three to follow her to where she can heal Jaskier.
——
After clearing out half the pantry and about two small bottles of wine, you're finally satiated and no more half starved. You casually sit on the kitchen table as Geralt stares at the floor in worry for the bard and in deep questioning thought about how the hell you know Yennefer. You could practically cut the tension with a knife, but then much to your relief she comes walking down the steps.
Calmly announcing that Jaskier is in a deep healing sleep, and that you both urgently need a bath, something you wholeheartedly agree on. She hands the both of you some clean clothes as she directs you into the direction of the bathhouse, going elsewhere to give you both some privacy.
You walk into the steamy warm room as Geralt shuts the door, locking it as you start to unlace your top, "Y/N how do you know..."
"Ask me when I'm in the bath, then I'll indulge you for some of my hidden past....dealings." You interrupt with the flash of a smile before throwing off your top and bra. You face away from him as you kick off your boots, quickly shimmying out of your dark pants and undergarments as you stand stark naked by the heated pool.
Turning a quick glance behind you, your eyes catch Geralt's as his golden irises trail down your body, he looks away as an embarrassed grin makes its way onto his handsome face. You smile to yourself, turning to lower your tired vessel into the steaming waters. Sighing in pleasure at how the bath feels blessedly nice after many moons of going without a proper clean.
You close your eyes as your sit peacefully by the waters edge, a smirk playing at your lips as Geralt's muscular body gets in after you. You listen intently as he lets himself enjoy the warmth before some water swishes and he's pressed firmly against your side. An arm draped over your shoulder as his other one leans against the cool stony edge, you can just tell that he's taking you all in even as his mind swirls with questions.
"Y/N? What did you get into before you met me....or I guess what type of trouble? Although I do happen to recall your hatred for wizards and mages alike." Mutters your Witcher as he looks down at your relaxed form, your body but a nude distortion under the clear waters of the pool.
Humming in acknowledgment, you open a scarlet eye to look up at him as you give him a small smile, you can tell that if it wasn't for how curious he is at the moment, he'd without a doubt be turning you into a moaning mess by the waters edge within minutes, "I know Yennefer because...I....well I was a type of courier in Aretuza for many years." His dark brows furrow in thought, not sure what you're getting at so you continue, "The mage academy, I traveled there because I searched for the aid of the mages, you see, I had found a farm girl who was bitten by a werewolf and survived. Her father said he would pay me if I delivered her into their care, double if they cured her."
His hand trails tiny patterns against your arm, "And what did you do?"
"I was able to save her life, we had a week before the next full moon and a mage there had the needed remedy to reverse the lycanthropy. After that, I stayed with her there as she recovered from the whole ordeal...considering the process of taking away ones curse is a painful one." You explain as he laces a hand with your own, invested in your story with every new word coming from your lips, "In my time, I investigated the grounds...I was only two-hundred something then...I wanted to see everything. So I did, in doing so, and yes I'm aware this is going to sound quite unlike myself...but, I made a friend."
He hums, squeezing your arm gently in reply, "Her name was Tissaia de Vries, though that hardly matters now it's been so long, anyways....she appeared to like me well enough, I needed a place to cover myself from the rain, and coin to keep me alive and she knew what I was useful for. I basically became a raven, I would take precious letters, scrolls, or artifacts from Aretuza to wherever needed and vise versa. It was safer that way, no one would dare fuck with a dhampir of all travelers, and the ones who did promptly regretted it...and I got to live in the academy for free. It was perfect."
"When did you meet Yennefer?"
"Sometime after a good many years as a courier slash traveling body guard for high end royals who payed well, Tissaia had just brought her to Aretuza for the first time and while walking near her room I could smell the blood pouring out of her slashed wrists, the fool was trying to kill herself." He glances down at you, more intrigued then ever.
(Cue flashback)
"Check on piglet would you Y/N, I'll be gathering the girls for their first lesson shortly in the greenhouse. Make sure she's up." Says Tissaia as she writes something down on a piece of parchment with her quill.
Setting down some type of golden box onto one of her many counters you turn to her, "The little bird seems hardly mage material if I'm being honest....she's afraid, nervous, and ridiculously troubled...not to mention that hunched back of hers, poor things truly had it rough, now things only feel worse to her. You really know how to pick'em don't you?" You muse with a smirk as she continues to write, "Doesn't matter, everyone starts somewhere. I'll go find her, doubt she's decided to venture very far." You add before walking out the doorway and into the stony halls of the enchanted academy.
You pass by a couple mages here and there as you find your way to the novice's rooms in the lower section of the giant castle, you suddenly stop as you've successfully made it to her door. Not caring enough to knock, you swing it open as you find the sad hunchbacked girl, who's sniffling pathetically in her creaky bed, "Greetings little bird, how was your sleep?" Your voice is lively as you smile down in her direction while more dismal sniffles sound, a small half-frown graces your features as you cross your arms over your chest, "Can't say very well considering you've lost a good amount of blood, which I might add is not ideal for your first day of lessons or in general if we're being honest. You're seriously lucky I wasn't starving when I found you."
She sighs, "I don't want to do any lessons. Just leave me. You should have just let me die...at least I still had control over that." She whispers sadly, her back is still turned to you as you take another step closer.
Lightly chuckling, she turns to you, a harsh glare crossing her puffy features as you scoff, "That's hilarious. You really think that you had control? You didn't have shit little bird....you didn't have control, you were losing it." Her crooked face morphs into a frustrated glare as she thinks over your words, you simply shrug, "Now, you've survived and are very much alive whether you like it or not, it's close to the hour for your first lessons as a real mage in training, important shit for your kind. So get up little bird, it's time to fly."
She sniffles once more before giving you a downcast expression, "I can't."
Touching her shoulder in as comforting of a manner as you can muster you smile kindly down at her, "Listen, you can either let the world fuck you like a cheap whore, or you can become a dragon who does whatever the hell they please. Which is it my crooked friend? Who are you going to become?"
Slowly sitting up onto the edge of her bed, she rubs her nose, the tiniest bit of confidence flashing through her purple eyes, "A dragon." She whispers softly, a small spark of life coursing through her once again.
(End flashback)
"I had no idea, this whole time." Whispers Geralt.
You gently nudge his bare shoulder, "Yeah well you never exactly asked, and I didn't feel it important because it isn't or I guess wasn't....that is, until we happened to meet her this evening. Weirder circumstances have be felled us."
"That is true, its just, you were actual friends with mages." Says Geralt like its the most surprising thing in the world, "Now I understand how you knew Mousesack. I had always wondered about that."
"Hmm. Right, well you see and meet a lot of different people when you can't age. He's gotten greyer since the last time, Yennefer however, she still looks the same."
Geralt squeezes your hand, "And you, look even more radiant."
He looks down at you once more, the flash of something new and intriguing shinning bright in his golden eyes as they trail up and down your body. You smirk, pulling his arm from you as you position yourself in front of him, reaching your arms out to push his thighs apart. He eyes you up the whole time, hardness beginning to grow underneath the waters as you touch his shoulders, lining yourself up against him, ready to claim him completely, by just inches.
You softly kiss him, "Fuck me so that damn witch knows exactly who you belong to." His hands trail up to your sides as he pushes you down on his erect member, a low hum escaping your lips at the contact, his fullness pleasantly stretching your walls from within the steamy waters.
Geralt kisses you once more, another upon your neck as he smiles, "Such a compelling offer..." His words evade him as a moan leaves from his parted lips as you begin to ride him, the pools water swishing as you bounce. The next twenty minutes are spent fucking each other until you're one-hundred percent positive that Yennefer could hear every scream and thrust.
Just as you'd intended.
——
You stand at the foot of Jaskier's extravagant bed as Yennefer watches from the doorframe, Geralt near his side as the bard sleeps peacefully away his troubles and malevolent enchantment. Geralt looks on at him, a distraught expression crossing over his features as Yennefer asks if he doubts her capabilities. He grumbles a truthful no, as his only cause of worry is that if Jaskier never wakes up he'll feel terrible for the unkind words that were said to him before all this mess happened.
She smiles when he grumbles about her actual intentions, she simply walks past you over to her table of spices and herbs, but before she can get to it Geralt makes note of how the sign from the djinn's seal is marked upon the floor with candle wax. Her face falters as she realizes that she's been found out, you had figured something was up the moment you stepped into the room and saw it near the end of the large bed.
Leaning yourself against one of the bed posts, you listen as Geralt declares that he's going to take Jaskier now to prevent Yennefer from summoning the djinn, she smartly explains that if he does, then the spell won't take. So you're all essentially stuck until Jaskier is healed, whenever that may be. She turns to open a tiny bottle of oil on her stand, nonchalantly rubbing it into the skin of her wrist as she magically sets the summoning circle candles on fire, an enchanted burst of wind sending the drapes of the bed flying and flapping into the air, your hair as well.
This doesn't sit right with your Witcher at all, especially when she asks how many wishes he has made, Geralt doesn't give her a direct answer until he lets slip that Jask has only used two wishes. Her face perks up at this news, she gives you a mischievous wink before walking over to Geralt, who looks like something strange is happening to him.
You can smell the scent of lilac and gooseberries wafting throughout the room as she walks closer to him, "Tough to get in your head. You have a strong will, but you can't contend with me." You suddenly feel rather sleepy as Geralt looks down at her in anger, instead of helping him, you sit down on the bed and try your best to listen, "Sorry I couldn't be more direct, I knew you two would fight it. And I do love a good old-fashioned trap." She muses as your eyelids begins to grow heavy, a yawn leaving your mouth as you rest a hand against the soft inviting mattress.
So soft, so tired, how'd you get so sleepy?
Against everything in you that's screaming for you to stay awake to stop Yennefer, you feel utterly relaxed, so much so that instead of helping Geralt to stay conscious. You lay yourself on the giant bed, you blearily stare up at the dark wooden ceiling in false content, everything feels so warm and lovely. The room swirls and shifts as you tiredly close your crimson eyes, the sweet enchanting scent of lilac lulling you into a deep and blissful slumber.
Breathing in sharply, you stretch in the soft bed as your eyes finally open to the morning light pouring out from the two giant glass windows on either side of the bed. You're laying on your left side so as you focus better, you're surprised to find Jaskier laying on his back next to you. This is definitely not Geralt, so how did you get here?
Oh right, Yennefer.
Quickly sitting yourself up you look to the end of the bed where Yennefer is sitting, topless as she rubs something onto her bare abdomen. Your brows furrow as you stare at her back, "What the fuck are you doing?" You question, no heat really in your words, you're honestly more confused then anything at the moment.
Without looking at you she starts, "I need the djinn Y/N, this is how I intend to take it."
Sliding off of the side of the bed, you walk around so that you can lean against the wooden beam to see what she's getting at, "That's rather vague Yenn, but if I was to make an educated guess from my clever sleuthing, or just general understanding of how that clapping monkey of a brain works. I'd say you're trying to summon the fucker so your last wish may be for a child in your womb. Nice tattoo by the way, very original." You nod to the dark colored insignia on her lower abdomen in the shape of the female reproductive system, who would have guessed she was such as artist.
She glances at you for a second, anger slowly building in her chest, "How very clever indeed Y/N, even in old age does your mind stay as sharp as a tack." Her tone is bluntly sarcastic, but you stay unaltered by her jest.
You tilt your head at her, "Djinn's are finicky creatures, I wouldn't try and do exactly what I think you're going to do."
"And what is that?" She snaps, her eyes focused ahead.
Rolling your eyes you let out an irritated huff of air, "Become the djinn's physical vessel, its suicide...and you know it. Even the most powerful of mages cannot harness the true strength and imperium of the djinn, what would compel you to attempt this? What will having a child gain you, in this world of all places?"
She doesn't have time to answer as Jaskier suddenly wakes up with a start, he pushes himself up into a sitting position as he squints from the bright light of the room, "Oh, uh...where am I?" His eyes quickly land on the bare back of Yennefer since he can't see you from behind the thick pulled back curtain, "Whew! Uh...Right. Good. Good. Uh...Not to be untoward or anything...but, did we...you know, do the uh..." She slowly covers her bare torso and chest with her thin golden white top as she turns around to face him and crawl upon the bed, "Ooh, Go...Oh, no! No! Definitely did not butter that biscuit." Rushes Jaskier as he scrambles to get off, you watch as he shuffles past you, his eyes going wide in puzzlement, "Oh hello there Y/N, nice morning huh....oh shit, uh...look lady I'm so sorry, but I've just remembered I left my...cat, on the, stove."
He walks backwards as Yennefer continues her stalk towards him, "I...I uh, we really must going, isn't that right Y/N!" He exclaims as he quickly bends down to put on his shoes. You're not entirely sure how to handle this situation if you're being totally honest, you're not exactly one to stop people from living their dreams, especially if it's Yennefer doing something stupid and you also rather enjoy watching Jaskier piss himself.
Her eyes darken, "Express your deepest desires and you can be on your way." She asserts as her hand picks up a knife from her drawer.
"Well, my deepest desires are currently satisfied, thank you so much." Sputters Jaskier as Yennefer uses her power to slam him against the nearby wall.
"Is this really necessary?" You remark as she focuses on the bard.
"Yes." Is all that comes forth from her lips as she goes to threaten Jaskier, "How's your throat?"
"Uh.." Jaskier gives you a nervous glance before snapping back to the approaching mage.
Smiling wickedly she takes another step closer, "Perhaps you should try some scales."
Jaskier flinches back as the mage grabs a hold of him, "Uh...Toss a coin to your Witcher. O, valley of...penis. Oh, God." He stammers as Yenn grabs his junk in one hand and presses a knife against his throat in the other.
"If you want to keep all you have...make a damn wish." She threatens with malice, Jaskier breathing heavily in fear, he doesn't say anything as he throws pleading eyes your way. Scoffing she lets go of him and instead walks over to kneel down at the circle of burning candles, "Make a damn wish! Do it now!" Shouts the insane witch, an enchanted breeze finding its way into the room even with lack of opened windows.
Jaskier slides down the wall as he looks to you who only shrugs in reply, this is his problem now. He shifts his attention back to the mage, "I don't...I don't know! I wish very badly to leave this place forever!" Cries Jaskier as Yennefer gasps, her breathing going deeper as she begins to chant something in Eldar. The room instantly fills with winds, papers flying across the room at the intrusion.
Holding tightly onto the shaking wooden beam of the bed you glance from Jaskier to Yennefer, "You're fucking crazy Yennefer! This is madness!" She all but ignores you, her chanting getting louder and louder as the magical winds send your hair flying in all directions, "Fuck. Jaskier get out of here while you can, the djinn is close I can feel it!" You scream above the noise, he quickly nods before jumping to his feet and racing out the opened door.
You turn a worried face to Yennefer, "I'm not sure about you but, lets not invite a fucking genie into this place! You don't even own it! And stop speaking Eldar before this dark fucker possesses you!" She doesn't even give you a glance, as right on cue does the black wispy shadow of the djinn seep into the room and hastily flow into her body.
Your eyes go wide at the abrupt turn of events, "Fine. I'll save you myself, fucking mages." You mutter before taking a step forward, in an instant her eyes shoot open to reveal a sickly pink covering the entirety of her whole eyeball, she shoots up a hand and before you have a chance to do anything. Your whole body is thrown back into the hard glass window and straight out into the misty morning air as you free fall towards the grassy courtyard below.
Taken off guard but anticipating the nearing ground, you quickly stop yourself and levitate mere inches from the earth. You lower your feet onto the grass, an annoyed sigh leaving your lips as you pick some glass shards out of your arms and pant legs. You stand in the morning light beginning to rethink your life choices when pained screams are heard from up above, it's Yennefer, she's screaming at Geralt to make a wish so she can finally have all the power. Clearly things are not going well by any means, so instead of leaving her to an inevitable demise like how you'd planned, you fly back up to the broken window and right into the windy chaotic mess of a room.
A pillow nearly misses your head when you arrive just as the djinn screams for Geralt to use his wish on anything that he so desires. You jog over to the circle of candles as his golden eyes find yours, "Just make a fucking wish!" You shout before the djinn compels Yennefer to throw you against the far wall in an act of mindless rage. You're back hits the wood first, your head cracking against it with a thud, ouch.
You fall to the messy floor in a daze, a single trickle of blood falling down the side of your temple as you stand to slowly regain your bearings once again. Although when you look up, it appears that Geralt has spoken his last wish, the wind has dissipated and Yennefer seems to have come around to her mostly normal self.
Breathing heavily from her spot on the floor she turns to you, "Is it over?" She whispers tiredly, "Is it done?"
Sensing movement from the attic you zero in on the noise, "Oh fuck it's still here!" You bellow before the ceiling crumbles and cracks open, wood, stone, metal and whatever else bursting through as the djinn destroys the roof. Your eyes go wide as a large piece of wood breaks away, heading straight for Yennefer, more chunks racing down for Geralt as well.
In a blur you're able to save them both from a suddenly violent death as you rest them against the floor away from the destructive mess happening near the bed and windows. Geralt sits up and scoots back as you rest your old friend upon a soft red and gold pillow, she's asleep from the quick rushed movement you'd just subjected her to. You're going to have to remember that not everyone is very fond of whiplash.
Leaning over her, you lightly shake her arm, "Yennefer. It's me, Y/N. Wake up idiot." Her lavender irises slowly flicker open as you sit back, a sigh of relief leaving your parted lips as you turn to make sure Geralt's alright. He's already asleep on another large blue pillow, so much for the mighty Witcher.
"Wha...what?" She mumbles softly before her eyes open wider in realization, "Y/N why did you stop me! I nearly had it, I was so close and you ruined it, why di..."
Your brows furrow in confusion at her needless outburst, "You had shit, I saved your life! You ungrateful..."
"Oh, well I saved that fucking bard's life and your precious Witcher's...but now he's let the djinn escape! Who knows what havoc it'll wreak now that it has no vessel at all?" She fumes, glaring at you angrily.
Rolling your scarlet eyes at her frustration, you sit down on the carpeted floor, "No more havoc then you. Djinns are only dark creatures when held captive."
"How can you be so sure?" She snaps.
You raise an eyebrow at her, "When did you last feel happy when you felt trapped? And besides, if you were going to portal us to safety, you could have taken us out of this shit town!"
Yennefer huffs in annoyance, "A fine critique if you could make a portal yourself. Or better yet, turn into a giant bat and fly us away from here...and it wasn't a shit town, it was fine till you and your two incompetent imbeciles came along. I had a plan!" She exclaims pointedly as you begin to chuckle.
Her glare hard pressed as you smirk, "And that was going rather swimmingly!"
"It was!" Snaps Yennefer, "Like a drowning fish." She looks to you with angry eyes, her fire slowly brimming as a smile breaks out onto her face.
"More like a dead and dry one." You muse with a laugh as you frown, "oh gods look at us, how'd we ever get here huh....from Aretuza to the destroyed aftermath of a fucking djinn."
Her face falters for a moment as she thinks over your words, "Who can say? Bad choices perhaps, maybe we do it to ourselves for the fun of it."
"Maybe you're just a thrill seeker." She gives you a half offended glare as you simply stick your tongue out at her, "But we've survived nonetheless, I'll take that as a promising sign for the time being."
"I guess that means something then." She looks down to her hands, a downcast expression crossing her sweaty features, "I am glad to have seen you again in all honesty, it's just been a very long while since I've seen anyone familiar." Admits the violet eyed mage.
You shrug, "Or tolerable?"
"Yes, or tolerable. My life at court was...almost all for naught, I feel like I didn't do anything worth my time there....even got a knife through my shoulder when the Queen I was accompanying was killed by an assassin. I was done." She explains with a frown, you can tell something else about it bothers her, but you'd rather not press your curiosity.
"The things I miss when I'm elsewhere. Who needs a life at court anyway...I on the other hand was never meant to rule a castle. Perhaps it's a good thing my mother won't ever age, or die. And I have my freedom to roam the Continent as I please, a free woman bound by nothing but what I choose, and so I have." She gives you a downcast smile.
"I almost envy you Y/N. Truly. Now if only I could know what your Witcher happened to have wished for, but I'd rather not wake him. He almost looks peaceful in a sleeping bear kind of way." She adds while looking behind you at a snoozing Geralt, his chest slowly rising and falling with each soft breath.
You turn a loving gaze upon him, "Guess he does, doesn't he? Like a grimy sweaty mess of a man...my big grumpy bear." You muse, your eyes studying his face lovingly as a sudden idea comes to mind, you turn back to Yennefer with a mischievous smirk, "You know what, the bards recently single..."
Her face is almost a grimace as she shakes her head, "I'll take my chances elsewhere. But thank you Y/N, always watching out for me, usually pretty shit advice most often." She jests while rising to her feet, "I must be off before the town comes for my head, see you around...hopefully under better circumstances and with less destructive endings." You stand to your full height, a couple inches taller then Yennefer.
You both lean in for a parting hug, "Goodbye, Yennefer." Letting go of one another she hands you a small smile, "Try not to get killed Y/N."
"You. Try not to get involved with, well, you know." She nods before turning around and opening up a portal to some sunny ocean side market, you watch as she walks through it without another word, and off into the unknown she goes.
Yawning and feeling slightly off put from the whole ordeal, you turn to look over at Geralt, he's still out cold on the giant fluffy blue pillow. You smile adoringly at him before scooting yourself over, finally letting yourself rest near his peacefully sleeping form as you wait patiently for him to wake.

Kidnapped by Baby Yoda pt. 3
Pt. 1 Pt. 2 Pt. 3
hey guys pls lmk what you think and be honest!!! thank you so much for 80 notes holy fucking shit wowie
It's weird one day you're assisting teaching a class to a bunch of miscellaneous alien children on nevarro hating your life, and the next you're stuck on a ship with a mandalorian and his foundling who inexplicably decided he needed you to come.
“I'm going to talk to him today kid, believe me” you said to the lump of wool perched on your knee. Mando was out doing maker knows what, and you were left alone with the little guy like always. His big eyes gazed at you dubiously as if to say suuuuure. The amount of judgmental bitchy energy he could produce sometimes was astounding. “No really, i've been living here for what, uh 3 weeks maybe? And all we've really said to each other was the initial greeting and uh the exchange of names?” The last part trails off as you realize you don't even know his name. You said yours but he responded with telling you to call him Mando. So you didn't push it. You dont know alot about mandalorians considering they are almost extinct and their beliefs are often made to seem like folklore. But you do know that individualism and identity is not something particularly celebrated. So you decided to leave the amount of information he wants to share with you up to him out of respect. So far that's been none. “So, kid, how'd you break through his shell? He likes you?” the child just blinks unhelpfully. “I mean you never talk to him, but i've tried that and we saw how that went” literally radio silence from him. You don't particularly think of yourself as an extrovert who constantly needs interaction but you do need some. And currently you have the kid as a companion and if you didn't know any better you'd say Mando was a droid with how he acts. You also resolved that you needed to help out more. Basically you were a glorified babysitter and the idea that Mando was going to realize that he was better off without you on his ship as deadweight terrified you. You were a good cook, I guess you could say, but Mando always brought food back with him when he went out and then would hide in his room to eat in privacy. So that's not very helpful. The main thing that you could offer him was medical help. Back on Nevarro growing up you were the youngest of three older brothers. And considering your mother wasnt really in the picture, you had to take up the doctor role for the amount of fights three older boys could get into. You knew how to treat basically any external damage and how to sterilize and limit risk of infection. But how would you ever bring that up to mando if you guys didn't even greet each other in the mornings? Sometimes you would try to talk to him with something as simple as “good morning!” or “welcome back” or “night” or even just a simple “hey” sometimes he would bless you with a monosyllabic grunt but never anything more. But hey, you would take what you would get. After a week of this call and no response bullshit you kinda gave up and have spent the last two weeks in silence other than your episode this morning with the “good morning” fiasco. You feel your mortification settle back into your stomach at the fool you made of yourself. “Maker above, mando must hate me.” sometimes you wondered if he regretted asking you to come. But he doesn't really seem like the type of person to let you stay if you annoyed him. “Ok bug, here's the plan. What im gonna do is i will say hey when he comes back, sound good?” you look for confirmation from the creature and he gives you a slight tilt of his chin. Satisfied you continue, “and i will uhm say good night and good morning every day until he responds or tells me to shut up.” you finish with a huff of breath. This will either end with you finally finally getting to have real human interaction or left on some random ass planet god knows where.
Mando makes his way back to ship feeling the pebbles crunch beneath the heavy sole of his boot. This planet was a desert planet much like nevarro, he wondered if you missed home. Mean no shit she's probably homesick dumbass he thinks its not like he was doing anything to make the ship feel welcoming. Like talking to you. But you made the ship feel like a home for the kid and that's more than he could ever want. You probably didn't realize how much what you were doing meant to him. You made the kid happy, you were giving him something that mando never could, a mother figure. Mando tried his hardest to be what he thought was a father for the kid but it was hard. He had to go and work and it wasn't safe to bring a kid so he was often swept around to different planets and left for hours by himself waiting for mando to come back and it was hard on mando. But you, now you were there. And the kid was always safe with you. He should probably teach you some self defense he thought considering how dangerous being associated with him was especially considering you needed to protect the child. But honestly, mando had no idea if you knew how to protect yourself, you might, space is a dangerous world. He only knew that you were a teacher but that was it. Slightly alarming that he implicitly trusted you without any prior knowledge of you or your credentials. You could be a bounty hunter assigned to kill him for all he knew, or to steal the kid, but you probably would have done that by now. Mando didn't know what made you trustworthy to him. You just were. And that terrified him.
You're sitting in the cockpit with the child pretending to fly the ship as he gurgles happily in your lap. you giggle at the little guy and make finger guns and pretend to shoot an imaginary monster outside the window, “i'm the most fearsome bounty hunter in the guild,” the child lets out a particularly loud noise at that, “uhhh yes i am dont laugh at me, i am feared far and wide across the galaxy,” you tickle his sides with that one. youre so into playing with the kid you don't realize mando was back and is staring at you from the entryway to the cockpit. “You think i could take on your daddy, bug? You think it'd beat him in a shootout? Huh?” you say with your fingers poised and ready at the window.
“Not a chance,” says a deep voice that vibrates into the floor. You let out an embarrassing startled shriek and feel your heart do twenty somersaults and settle in your feet. The child screams at the interruption and immediately wiggles out of your grasp and waddles to Mando giddily.
“I-i i was uh joking, really i was,” you stutter out cringing at the incredulous tone your voice comes out as. Remembering your resolve to talk to him you continue on even though you feel like you might throw up your breakfast from nerves. “He misses you during the day,” gesturing to the child, “so i pretend to be you” you finish realizing that sounds super fucking creepy, “well not like- you- like- you,  but i pretend to like uh pilot the ship and uh shoot um things?” you ramble lamely. A huff sounds from the mandalorian and if you allowed yourself to think wishfully it was laughter.
“Doesn't surprise me. Before you he came everywhere with me.” you feel your eyebrows raise. Everywhere? Shit.
“Must've been difficult to complete jobs and have to keep track of him,” you say nodding your head towards the little lump of brown wool. Mando offers you an affirmative grunt before setting the child down and turning on his heel towards the fresher. So that was an improvement, you think. Got ten whole words out of him. You feel a grin split your face. Hopefully this means you are past the dancing around each other relationship. And maker above, his voice, wow. If only you could wake up to that every morning. Deep and melodic. You wonder how deep and gravelly it sounds in the mornings. Or how your name would sound tumbling off his lips in pleasure. Nope. not going down that path. That is NOT platonic thoughts. You literally had your first conversation with him since the first day you met him and you're already thinking about that? Seriously pull yourself together. You don't even know what he looks like, or how old he is. Like what if he's like 70. And really ugly. What if your having sex dreams about someone like your grandpa. Ew. Your face contorts at the thought of Mando looking like your grandpa. Okay gross stop. You need to get to know him. Have civil conversations. Push down the gross thoughts. Even if his voice sounds like honey. And home.
You're sitting in the chair behind the pilot seat reading a random book Mando left out on the scattered floor. Its some type of mechanical manual so its truly riveting. Note the sarcasm. The child's asleep, and seeing as though mando is cooped up in his room this book is better than twiddling your thumbs mindlessly. You decided that if you were going to stay on mandos ship you should at least try to pick up some mechanic skills. Better than the rudimentary at best you had at the present moment. You knew how to fix blatant errors in engines and how to reconnect wires if the instructions were explained thoroughly and very slowly. Okay maybe you didn't really know anything past engines. But that was better than nothing? Kinda? You sigh closing the book after rereading the same sentences about pre-imperial versus post-imperial hyperdrives. Maker what was the difference? The both made the ship go super fast or something? Was that the hyperdrive? You shook your head feeling the thought start to culminate into a downward spiral of what a hyperdrive truly was. You looked around the cluttered hull and decided that you should probably occupy yourself by cleaning up the mess. Mando might appreciate it, it'll also make you less of a deadweight on the ship. It was crazy how much shit one man and his child could accumulate on one tiny ship. You don't think you had ever seen this many small metal bowls in one place. The stack currently in the corner probably contained about 12. In what universe would 2 creatures ever need the same bowls 12 times. Well you guess now it's three. The thought filled your chest with a balloon of warmth only to be popped by the realization that you weren't part of the little family mando and the child were. At best you were a business associate. The kids stand in caregiver. Babysitter.
The realization that you didn't have anyone to call family at your disposal fell heavy on your shoulders. Sinking you into the corner of the hull. You dont think youve ever felt more alone. In the cold corner of the hull with a hand pressed to your chest in an attempt to quell your ragged breaths.  Like a small raft cast into the oceanic expanse of space. If you drowned, who would notice? Certainly not your family, they were maker knows where, probably light years away. You didn't even know what sector you were in anymore. What would your father think of your decision to leave nevarro? You hadn't seen him in a while but you remembered the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled. And how he would hug you after a long day. Hold you like you were still his little girl. The craving for a warm embrace from a solid body slammed into you with all the force of a meteor. Leaving you stunned and lost. You briefly wondered how mando coped. How did he deal with the overwhelming feeling of loneliness?  How did he leave his guild? Did he miss them? Were they like a family? Did he think about them often? How did he cope with the lack of touch? Or did he not think about it at all? Did he not need it? Was he so disconnected from the world through his beskar that he couldn't remember the feeling of someone's fingers on his skin? Etching a path with the searing heat they exuded. Hearing approaching footsteps you attempt to pull yourself together. Regulate your breathing, get rid of tear tracks and lose the flush coloring your face. You could do this. As he rounded the corner he stopped. You peered up at him from your curled up position on the floor and offered him a smile that felt unconvincing even on your lips. He tilted his head slightly at you and made his way cautiously to where you were. He bent slightly and offered a brown leather clad hand to you. For a second the only sound heard was the faint crackle of his breathing in his helmet. You could see him faltering. Here he was offering you comfort in your clearly distressed state and you were pointedly ignoring it. You laced your fingers with his and nearly doubled over from the strength he exuded into pulling you up. As soon as you were fairly steady on your feet you marveled at your hand shocked by the warmth creeping through the leather of the glove permeating into your palm. He sighed, a deep release of tension from his shoulders followed. “What's wrong?” he said, his hand still lazily grasping your fingers. You looked at him, what was wrong?
“How do you do it?” you said echoing his words from your first meeting to him. his thumb dragged a slow line along your wrist. When he didn't respond you added, “how are you okay with being alone?” if you could see his face you would say he looked taken aback. He released your hand.
“I'm not.” he offered. Confused as to which question he was answering you remained silent hoping to prompt him to continue. He started again, “I'm not alone, not truly. I have him.” he gestured vaguely to his sleeping quarters where the kid slept. He rubbed the back of his neck,
“And neither are you.”

Tumblr media
this day literally could not get any worse. after finding out that you just missed passing your midterm and the paper you pulled multiple all-nighters to finish fell short of the grade you needed to pass your least favorite class, you didn’t want to do anything even remotely productive. the only hope you had of salvaging your shit day was doing absolutely nothing with your boyfriend as soon as he came home from police academy training.
when daichi steps into the living room that evening, a fond expression overcomes his face as he drinks in the sight of you curled up adorably on the sofa with a throw pulled over your head and hands. but before you could welcome him home, his eyes trail over to the dishes you ate lunch off of still on the coffee table.
“sweetheart, you know how important it is to keep your space clean, why haven’t you done the dishes? you’ve been home all day- actually, how long have you been laying there? you should try to be more active instead of just lounging about…”
you listen to him drone on, tears threatening to spill over your waterline with every patronizing word until you can’t take anymore.
“god, daichi! you just got home and the first thing you do is lecture me. no ‘hi babe,’ no ‘how was your day’- it was shit, by the way, but obviously that’s important. not even a ‘happy valentine’s day'!”
he’s taken aback by you blowing up, but guilt fills his chest in a split second. the holiday had genuinely slipped his mind when he left early that morning. apology on the tip of his tongue, he steps towards you, but you’re already locking yourself in your shared bedroom.
“babe, please let me in. ‘m so sorry, i didn’t mean t’preach at you.”
“it’s always like this with you! i try so hard to keep it together in order to feel like i deserve to be with you, but i've literally never heard the words ‘i love you’ come from your mouth so don’t try to fix this."
daichi is stunned, not only because of your heartbreaking confession, but because you made him realize he’s never said those three words. sure, your relationship is still fairly new but you had no qualms about vocalizing your affections like he does.
his training keeps him away from you for majority of the day, but he tries to show his love the best way he knows how. as the former captain of the rowdiest team in miyagi and after practically raising four younger siblings, his love language has become borderline paternal, always making sure you take care of yourself. daichi’s quiet as you ramble tearfully through the door, eyes closed with his forehead against the wood.
“i was waiting for you to come home because i missed you and i just wanted to be with you, but i got flashbacks of my father instead. you know, i’m not your teammates and i’m not your siblings. i don’t need you to tell me how to take care of myself every single day. do you really think i’m that incapable?”
“no!” your whispered question stabs shards of disappointment into his chest, beating himself up for making you feel that way. “you have the ability to accomplish anything you want to. i’m sorry i haven’t done enough for you to believe that. i’m so utterly and completely in love with you and i’ll spend forever making sure you know that if you’ll let me.”
enough time passes without another word from you that daichi resigns himself to sleeping on the sofa tonight. with an achy sigh, he turns away from the door to take care of the things that set him off in the first place. the running tap covers your quiet footfall, startling him when you press your face against his back.
“please, just... come to bed with me,” you breathe the plea into the fabric of his shirt, twisting the material in your grasp. daichi doesn’t hesitate to leave the soapy dishes in the sink and carry you to your destination.
with his strong arms wrapped securely around you, you bask in the familiar comfort that is daichi as he starts to press kisses all over your face, neck, and shoulders, whispering affirmations and reasons why he loves you after every one.
swelling from the rare display of affection from him, you cup his strong jaw to guide his lips home to yours. pulling away with a playful glint in your eyes, you whisper, “what about the dishes?”
“doesn’t matter right now, not when i got you in my bed like this. gotta make sure you know in your heart, with no doubt in your soul, i love you.”

Hot Chocolate
Merry Christmases & Happy New Years & Happy Valentineses, and Happy Super Belated Birthdays to @fenheart87 and @mamanabeille and @motherofwoofers AND @MAL HAH (I’m so bad at this) 😹😿🧡
This was a Christmas exchange for LBSC for @mamanabeille and I hope it’s cute at least if not massively overdue o m g
On AO3 here!
Marinette wasn't sure how she strung the words together into a coherent enough sentence to convince Luka to take a walk with her on a lightly snowing afternoon, cruising for a little café to find some hot chocolate together. He probably understood most of what she'd been trying to say (or ramble, more likely) since they'd been friends for years.
Actually now that she thought about it, it probably hadn't been coherent at all, but Luka came along anyway because they were friends.
Friends. Close friends? Close enough that she loved his company with his generally good natured chillness and kissing his face with little bises in thanks.
They'd always been comfortable with casual intimacy like that. She always felt so… warm and comfortable with him near. That must have been the reason she was so panicked when she heard from him that he'd be leaving a few days after Christmas to tour with the one and only Jagged Stone as lead guitarist at age 19. It was huge for him, Marinette knew that. But to face that sudden dearth of his presence made her uneasy, to say the least.
It had gotten to the point where she forgot about making a Christmas gift for Adrien. She'd just repurpose one of her many Adrien Birthday gifts, so that wasn't too bad. But she wanted to make something important for Luka. Something that would hopefully show him just how much he meant to Marinette. And maybe it'd be something for him to remember her by.
She had been up all night working on Luka's Present. Well, she'd been up late a couple of nights working on it. She maybe had about 8 hours of sleep in the past 3-4 days.
Kitty Section had wanted to throw one last hurrah for Luka "moving up in the world", and along with it a mini-concert for Christmas and New Year's for their closest friends. Marinette had shown up late to the Liberty and nearly fell overboard crossing the gangplank but Luka had sprinted forward and caught her.
She blamed her unsteadiness for holding onto him the next couple of minutes after that. He kept an arm around her shoulder and they'd been just fine. She was warm. She was comfortable. The GirlSquad™️ that were present gave her looks. Marinette pretended that she didn't notice.
As it turned out the Liberty had run out of coffee. Marinette had rambled on that she preferred hot chocolate anyway and that she'd go out and get some while Kitty Section was just setting up. At least, that had been what she was trying to say, but it turned out she'd said something else that convinced Luka that he'd have to accompany her.
Or maybe it was because she was still a little wobbly. So she held onto his arm on their walk to find some hot chocolate. Luka didn't seem to mind. She slipped on something icy and instinctively threw her arms around him to steady herself. "Oh God I'm so so sorry," she squeaked.
"Are you alright?" He looked concerned but had on a smile. "Hey, let's find somewhere to sit down for a bit."
"Noooo, no I'm okay," she said hurriedly. "I don't wanna make you miss the party."
"They can deal," Luka shrugged.
"But it's for you! It's important!" It was important, wasn't it? Marinette was a little sleep-drunk, but her mind had registered this party as "For Luka" so it was automatically labeled IMPORTANT with big red letters and underlined 3 times.
"You're more important to me," he said quietly.
For some reason, Marinette giggled. "I know," she said, squeezing him tight. "But this is for you so I want everything to go right and have it be spectacular!"
He laughed. "The party is just for close friends, you know that, right?"
"It's for you," Marinette said. She straightened herself up and stepped back, having realized after the fact that she'd been talking to him all this time with her arms around him. "It's… it's for you and you're gonna be… gonna be with Jagged and people will notice you and you'll become a big star, I can… I can feel it!" She'd gotten wobbly again, and she hadn't even noticed that she'd been waving her arms to emphasize her points so hard that she'd lost her footing. She slipped again and landed on her butt. "Oof!"
"Alright, we're finding a place to sit down now," Luka decided. He took her hands and helped her to her feet, wrapping one arm around her shoulder again. "Hold onto me," he said.
Marinette giggled again. "Always," she mumbled, wrapping her arms around him tight. Luka stopped for a heartbeat but pressed on. He found a bench along the Seine that they could rest at for a few minutes. He sat her down first, then stood in front of her with a hand on her shoulder to make sure she was steady.
"Looks like there's a café nearby. Let me get you something warm, alright? I'll be a few minutes."
"Mmkay," she said sleepily.
He chuckled. "Try not to fall asleep out here. Are you cold?"
"No, I'm alright," she yawned. "I'll be awake, promise," she smiled, looking up at him. He did look a tiny bit concerned (a little like he doubted her to be honest) but then jogged off. Marinette let her focus soften and turned her head up to the light snow, the chill helping to keep her awake. She felt a few flakes land on her cheeks and closed her eyes just for a second, the white clouds fading out to black.
The heat from where he had held her had radiated out, leaving her colder than she liked. She wanted him back so she could lean herself against him and feel him near. Ugh, she was soooo close to dozing off. She shook her head and patted her cheeks, dusting off the snow that had started to cover her.
She better keep herself busy. She pulled out her phone and was momentarily confused. She wasn't so sure what made her upset staring at her phone until her brain unfuzzed after a few seconds. Her phone backsplash was of Adrien Agreste and it didn't feel right… She needed to change that. She went into her settings and tried to find a good replacement picture. She did think Adrien was cute and all, but… her tastes had… well, they weren't quite the same anymore. She had barely thought about Adrien until now. That background had just been… there, static, as the scenery for ages.
She found herself being embarrassed scrolling through her photos. Her most recent pictures had been selfies with her friends and pictures of her crafts or baking. Anything more than a year ago had mostly been pictures she stole off the internet of Adrien. He'd definitely grown more handsome over time she had to admit, but it was… kind of cringey just how many pictures she had of him. She started deleting the Adrien pictures that hadn't been taken by her or her friends. It just didn't have the same appeal anymore.
As she kept going further back in time in her photos she saw sketches of the prototype kittycorn masks she had made for Kitty Section. Wow she really needed to update those sketches, and maybe she could ask Luka if he wanted a custom logo? If he did she needed to go back and tweak some of his Christmas presents, but it'd be worth it to see Luka's reaction.
Marinette desperately hoped he'd like what she made for him.
She'd been setting her phone background to the pink and blue lightning bolt of Luka's kittycorn mask when he came back with 2 takeout cups. "Sorry to keep you waiting."
"Thank you," she smiled up at him. She took the cup that was offered to her, then wedged the cup in between her thighs to take off her gloves to feel the warmth more directly. She picked the cup back up and loved that feeling of the heat suffusing into her hands. She leaned in and smelled the hot chocolate.
He sat down next to her and had taken the lid off of his… she couldn't really smell what it was but he did have whipped cream on top of that drink. He took a sip and got some of that cream on the tip of his nose and on his lips.
Before he was able to wipe it away, and before even Marinette knew what she'd been doing, she reached out and wiped her thumb across his lips and licked off the stolen cream from her finger.
Then, because she still wasn't thinking about it, she did the same with the whipped cream on his nose when he turned to face her, giggling after mentally adding a boop. Ugh, it was that cream that came out of an aerosol can. Too much air, not enough body. "What'd you get?" she asked. She noticed his eyes were pretty wide, and she hadn't fathomed what had surprised him except maybe the drink?
"Uh…" he trailed off, looking a little red. "C-Coffee?"
She leaned against his shoulder and sipped her hot chocolate, feeling it warm her up inside. "This is good," she sighed happily. "Feels really nice."
"Yeah," Luka said absently. "Nice. Did… I didn't ask if you wanted… any whipped cream… I can get…"
"Hmm? I'm okay," she murmured, drinking the rest of her hot chocolate. Plus she really didn't want him to go anywhere. He was warm and it felt like she could sit here with him forever. It'd be nice if they could snuggle together in her bed or something like that. She should ask if she could steal him away for a cozy snow day. That was a grand idea.
"Marinette," Luka started, then just. Stopped. He'd been looking at her, eyebrows furrowed. It was a few seconds during which Marinette turned back to face him, pressing part of her face against his shoulder. He exhaled, then smiled his lopsided smile. "Nah. It's alright." Part of him looked… resigned, maybe?
"I want you… to be as comfortable with me as I am with you," Marinette said sleepily. "I'm… I feel like it's so easy to be with you," she added. "You're so good for me," she sighed, letting her body lean back against the bench. The hot chocolate was working its magic and she felt parts of herself relax.
She woke up feeling slightly more rested but still overall groggy. Ugh, what happened? Wait. Wait. Oh no, she'd been with Luka and she'd just… she'd just dozed off? Wait, where was she? She sat up and blinked a few times, rubbing sleep from her eyes. She was back in her own room?! Her winter gear had been taken off as well as her shoes, but she'd been tucked back into her own bed by her mom by the look of it.
Marinette threw off her blankets and rushed downstairs. Oh God it looked like it was already evening -- did she miss the concert? Ugh, Marinette why did you have to be so lame?! "Maman?! Papa?!"
"Did you rest well, hon?" Sabine asked. "Luka brought you back a few hours ago--"
"HOURS AGO?! Oh no! Oh no oh no," Marinette yelled, pulling at her pigtails. She'd definitely missed the concert. Luka's last concert with Kitty Section!
"He also came back to bring the rest of your things from the Liberty," Tom added. "He stopped by just a minute ago! He can't be far, dear, why don't you see if he's still nearby?" Her dad handed her purse and gloves back to Marinette from where they were sitting near the register.
Marinette was ready to run out when Sabine tossed her a jacket. "And don't forget your shoes!" Sabine added, tossing boots at her daughter as well. Marinette didn't see the calculating smiles her parents exchanged with each other after she hurriedly put her gear on and ran out the Boulangerie.
Her mind was scattered but one thing seemed pretty clear: if it'd been a minute or two and Luka was heading back to the Liberty, Marinette would most likely find him in the subway station waiting for the next train. She didn't know the trains by heart but they came really quickly. She might have already missed him but if there was even the slimmest chance that she could catch him before he left she'd try.
She flew down the steps of the nearby subway entrance going toward the Liberty and saw only a few people milling around, but there was definitely a train pulling into the station right then and Marinette felt the rush of air buffeting her. There was one familiar figure in the distance and she ran toward them, hoping her gut instincts had it right. "Luka!"
Of course, as soon as she was close enough she tripped. She'd overstepped something or other and caught the edge of… something. If it hadn't been Luka she was hoping whatever kind soul she had just launched herself at would stop her from faceplanting. "Whoa!" a voice yelled out. Gloved hands braced her and pushed her back upright. "Marinette?" Yes, yes, yes, thank God, she thought looking back up at Luka, her world finally feeling right.
She promptly burst into tears after the relief faded. "I'm so sorry I missed it!"
Luka smiled, shaking his head slightly as he pulled her in for a hug. "The concert? Doesn't matter to me, I'm glad you got your rest."
Right, the sudden and inevitable betrayal of her body just because she'd stayed up a few nights makiNG PRESENTS OH SHOOT SHE NEEDED TO GET THOSE TO HIM! She snapped her head back to look up at him and slammed her head into his chin instead. "Ouch! Oh I'm so sorry oh no--"
Luka just started laughing after rubbing his chin. "God I'm gonna miss you," he said breathlessly, wiping away tears of his own, though his were caused by laughing too hard. The train next to them closed its doors with a hiss and started moving away. "Ah, whoops," Luka sighed. "I'll catch the next one."
This moment stretched in her mind as her mind raced. When he said he was going to miss her… it just reminded her how horribly she was going to miss him. Why had she been so freaking indecisive all this time? How was she going to deal with the Luka-shaped hole in her heart? How had she not realized that she'd wanted him and needed him until right as he was leaving for another freaking country and what if he was gone for a year or maYBE 10 YEARS or what if he decided he didn't want to come back and found himself someone else and she'd gone ahead and thrown this all away because she'd been too shy and too scared and too freaking stupid to realize she was in lo-- Oh, oh no.
Oh no. Don't freak out now, you saw this coming! Don't let him leave! she yelled at herself. Not yet. Not… yet, anyway.
"Wait! Wait, um, I-I have your presents pack at the packery--back at the bakery! I-I-If it's okay did you want me to get them now?"
He raised an eyebrow. "Didn't you already bring one to the Liberty?"
Marinette pressed her lips together in a wan smile. "One's not enough," she said quietly. "There are more. I… wasn't able to carry all of them." HE won't be able to carry all of them, she thought angrily at herself. But there was one that she wanted to give him in person, in private. Now was as good a time as any, if he was willing.
He looked a little worried, but then Luka shrugged. "Sure, I don't have anything else right now. I'll head back with you. Thanks, by the way… You know you didn't have to get me anything."
"How long have you known me?" Marinette sniffed.
His smile broke through again. "Fair enough." They walked back up the stairs back to surface streets and walked to the bakery when the pedestrian light was green. Tom and Sabine looked delighted that Marinette brought Luka back. "Hey again. It's been a while," Luka joked.
"Go on upstairs, we'll bring you some snacks in a little bit!" Sabine said cheerfully. Marinette noticed that there wasn't any room for argument in what her mom said. It'd nearly come across as a command.
"Stay as long as you'd like!" Tom added unnecessarily.
Luka just smiled and nodded politely and followed as Marinette decided she'd best leave right then. They went up the stairs past her parents' bedroom floor and into the main floor. Luka almost went up the Marinette's bedroom ladder behind her but decided against it. "I can wait down here unless you need help getting it down?" he offered.
Marinette wondered why he was getting weird about going into her room now, of all times. "Just come up?" Luka let out what was the tiniest sigh and he relented, going up the ladder. She waited until he was finished climbing. "I didn't get a chance to wrap this up yet, but… I want to make sure it fits properly anyway." She took a long leather jacket off of her mannequin and presented it to Luka. "This is yours. I made this for you. Can you try this on?"
He just stared for a minute. "That looks… pretty damn incredible, Marinette," he said in awe. He took off his current jacket and handed it to Marinette when she offered to take it from him. She pretended she didn't feel just slightly awkward watching his lean form emerge from his bulky outerwear, pretended she didn't notice that his gray shirt underneath fit snug around his chest, pretended that she didn't keep getting drawn to the lines and curves of the muscles he usually kept hidden underneath hoodies.
He put on the jacket she made. Most of it was black leather lined in fleece, but she left the arms and the hood a softer, more pliable fabric so he wouldn't have his arms constrained by the stiff leather. The dark gray fabric of the arms extended out past the wrist to cover the palms and backs of his hands, and had slits for him to put his thumbs through. He pulled the hoodie over and smiled at Marinette. "Feels pretty good," he said.
Marinette moved his arm so it extended out, looking at the pull of the fabric and making sure that it was fitting well. She made some minor adjustments to the way the jacket sat on him, checking the length, checking seams, checking if there were any problems at all before she realized she was probably being weird on him. "Oh! Sorry, I just--just wanted to… um. A-anyway, how is it?"
Luka had just taken her hovering around and fixing things with quiet dignity. "It's great. It's… like I said, incredible. This must have taken a lot of work," he said with clear praise in his voice. "I honestly can't believe you're giving this to me. Are you sure?"
"Yeah. Since you're l-leaving in winter I wanted to make sure… that you're warm." Like you keep me warm. "And comfortable." Like you keep me comfortable. "And it's… it's not obvious but I also have something on the back. Here, you can check it in the mirror," she said, pulling him toward her full length mirror. He faced away from the mirror but checked over his shoulder to look. In the light Luka could tell that she had painted the leather in subtle blue and pink, more stains of color under the light than distinct painted lines. "I wasn't sure if you'd like it but… I put in the lightning bolt from your Kitty Section mask. So that way you even if you're not part of Kitty Section anymore, you can bring them with you? Am I making any sense?"
"I got it," he nodded, still checking out different parts of the jacket. "God, I don't have words for how amazing this is."
"I'm glad you like it."
"Marinette, I love it." He paused suddenly after looking back up at her. He was a little surprised when he saw that she was crying again. "Hey, hey, what's wrong?" He moved to her and pulled her into another hug.
"I'm just," she sighed, burying her face into his chest. "Seeing that on you. It makes it real that you're going." Luka took in a breath like he'd wanted to say something, but he let it go without saying anything. For a few heartbeats they stood there like that.
They heard Tom shuffling below and the hatch opened. "Hey kids, I brought some crois-- Oh, that looks wonderful, Marinette! That jacket turned out very nice!"
Marinette sighed and pulled away from Luka. "Thanks Papa," she laughed, taking the proffered plate of steaming hot bread.
"Eat them up while they're still warm!" Tom beamed, going back down the ladder and closing the hatch behind him. At least her dad didn't make a comment on how he found her and Luka. Maybe he was saving that for later… ugh.
"Want one?" Marinette giggled. "They are best straight from the oven."
"Sure, I'll take one."
Marinette handed one to Luka and ate one for herself, feeling pretty self-conscious at how awkward it got again. She put the plate of croissants on her computer table. "So um… The other presents for you are just… um. I guess there might be a lot to carry now that I think about it, ha."
"Keep them," Luka said between bites. Keep them? As in he didn't want them? Marinette froze in place. "Here," Luka added belatedly, smiling after he finished his croissant. "Keep them here. I'll be able to pick them up when I come back in the summer." He took a step toward her and leaned in close, placing his fingers against her cheek. Marinette blushed at the contact but she didn't shy away.
He pulled an errant flake of pastry off the corner of her mouth and ate it. "H-hey," Marinette grumbled. Well, it was probably her fault for expecting something… different. "That was mine," she added lamely at the end.
"What, you want it back?" He chuckled. "Dunno how--" She grabbed his lapels and pulled him in to kiss him hard. Then she heard Tom shuffling around again and shoved Luka at the chaise lounge just in time for Tom to open the hatch.
"I brought hot chocolate!" her dad announced with a huge grin, though it faltered a little as he took a slight pause to look back and forth between his daughter and the startled young man on her chaise. The kids were blushing pretty hard and Marinette just knew Tom was formulating some conclusions on what happened.
"Thanks Dad, we're good on snacks for now," Marinette said, trying to emphasize that she did not want anymore interruptions as she took the cups from Tom.
Tom grinned again. "Sabine and I added a little Dupain-Cheng magic in the cocoa, let us know what you think, alright? We'll leave you alone now," Tom winked.
UGH. She handed a cup over to Luka who took it automatically, still staring at her in a slight shock. Oh God maybe he didn't like her like that? "I-I'm sor--" she started.
"Don't," Luka interrupted. "Be sorry. Don't be sorry, I mean." He looked a little panicked and laughed nervously. "I didn't. Think. That you. Were…" he continued, speaking in fragments at a time. "Are you? Was that…"
Marinette sipped her hot chocolate nervously, her cup shaking slightly in her hands, but asked "Are you?" for some reason.
"How long have you known me?" Luka barked out as a laugh. "I've always liked you. Always."
"Me too. Really." Marinette said quietly. "I… it just. I suck at timing, you know?"
"Yeah," he breathed out, nodding.
She pouted. "But since you're leaving… it was something that… it just scared me."
"You know I'm coming back right?" He put his cup of cocoa on the floor. "Especially if you're waiting."
"You-you could meet someone new…?"
Luka furrowed his eyebrows. "I'll let you know if that happens. Is that what you're worried about?"
Marinette sighed. "No, orrrr ummm, sort of but not really. I just… didn't want things to change. And by that I mean I didn't want to… I didn't want to make… make any mistakes. With you." She chugged her hot chocolate, tasting the hints of buttery toffee and cream with a pinch of sea salt, then set her mug aside. "You've let me just hang out, you know? Let me be… me. And I was so afraid I'd screw something up if there was… anything more between us, if anything changed between us."
"But now things are changing anyway?" Luka replied. "Because I'm leaving for a while."
Marinette nodded. "Yeah. So, I thought I'd… well, give you that," she pointed at the jacket, "at least. So a little part of me can go with you."
Luka got back up to his feet and took off the leather jacket. "Then I'll only wear this when I'm away. Right now I'm here," he said. "And you're here. And I've always liked you. If you want me, I'm yours."
"That simple, huh?" Marinette smiled shyly.
"Always been."
Marinette drew herself into his arms and hugged him tight, feeling him wrap his arms around her. "I do. W-want this I mean. You. I really do suck at timing," Marinette sighed.
"Yeah, you do," Luka laughed. "But you've just given me some of the best Christmas presents I've ever gotten." He drew her face up to look at him and smiled. "And something to look forward to when I come back." He leaned in and kissed her.

Secret Santa Fic!!
Happy Holiday’s! I am so excited I got to participate in this Secret Santa event with some of the coolest Upstead peeps I know! I was given the prompt:
“I just tripped and fell face first into your crotch. End my life now, please.”
For @ruzek-halstead!!!
Hopefully this fic works for what you wanted with that hilarious prompt. I had lots of fun writing it! A special thanks to my secret Santa helper for the proofread/editing...you know who you are 😉😁.
Hailey and Jay’s relationship had evolved ever since she returned from New York. Their usual friendly banter had turned somewhat flirty recently, not that either of them had drawn attention to that fact. It seemed as though they were both aware of what the other person was thinking and for now they had settled into this new normal. That didn’t stop Hailey from experiencing the occasional blush at something he said or his eyes from lingering longer than they normally would. But this new status quo was something they were both seemingly okay with. Hailey couldn’t help feeling like she was back in high school, experiencing the throes of a first crush. Noticing all the little details about him or the way he would stand just a little closer now, linger at her desk just a little longer. And certainly something that wasn’t going unnoticed by her was her own reaction to these little things. The way her heart rate would increase when he would smile at her, the way her palms would slick when he sat to close. It was overwhelming and amazing all at the same time.
She did her best to keep her own distance though, resisting the urge to place her hand on his shoulder when she was looking at something on his computer, clenching a fist at her side when all she wanted to do was brush her hand against his as they stood in line for coffee every morning, wanting to pull him into a hug at the end of a long day while they did their thing that worked over drinks. Hailey feared if she crossed that line, if she let that wall down, she might explode. And there would be no going back from that moment. So instead, she settled into the new normal and allowed herself to enjoy it as much as possible.
Today was like any other, started out slow but quickly picked up pace when they caught a case. What had appeared to be a straightforward home invasion had turned into something much bigger and the team ended up uncovering a history of hidden abuse within the family. The details of the case were leaving Hailey frustrated as she dealt with her own emotions the scenario had brought up. Jay, of course, had picked up on her tension and was doing his best to support her from a distance. He knew enough of her history to realize this case would get to her but he also knew her well enough that it was better to not push too much. So he did what he could to help, but from a distance.
Little did he know, his lingering looks and warm smiles were filling Hailey with an entirely different type of tension and it was wreaking havoc on her internally. She did her best to focus on cracking the case and putting this dirtbag behind bars and away from his family. After staring at her computer for over an hour, Hailey let out a sigh and pushed away from her desk, leaning back in her chair and rubbing at her eyes. Jay sent her a smile when their eyes met and motioned for her to grab her coat. Having nothing better to do, Hailey obliged and followed him down the steps and out to his truck.
“You need lunch.”
He stated, jumping into the drivers side and grinning as she climbed in next to him. She rolled her eyes at him and shook her head in mock annoyance. Jay grinned again as he started the truck and pulled them out of the lot.
“Okay, well I need to eat.”
Hailey let out a chuckle and they fell into an easy silence. Jay drove them to one of her favorite diners not too far from the precinct and she happily followed him inside. It was slow on a Tuesday afternoon, leaving Hailey and Jay as only the third occupied table in the place. The young waitress came to take their drink order and Jay surprised Hailey when he answered yes to an appetizer. She watched as he quickly flipped through the menu before ordering a basket of fried pickles. Hailey raised her eyebrow in question, scrunching her face up in disgust at the thought.
“What? You can’t tell me you don’t like them?”
Hailey, still grimacing, shook her head slightly and then laughed when Jay scoffed at her answer. The waitress returned with their drinks and the basket of the offending food. Jay picked up the tiniest piece he could find and handed it to Hailey, who skeptically took it from him and popped it into her mouth. She was pleasantly surprised to find that it was actually really good, not that she was going to admit that to Jay. She sipped at her drink, watching as he devoured the food in front of him and when he took a break to check his phone, she seized the opportunity to snag one from the basket, quickly popping it into her mouth. Jay’s peripheral vision was too trained for her own good though and he instantly whipped his head up, pretending to swat at her hand as she went for another.
“Hey, hands off my pickles!”
He threatened, but his eyes glistened with amusement and his tone was teasing. She chuckled at him but rescinded her hand, holding his gaze for longer than she cared to admit. Hailey simply couldn’t look away from his eyes, the way they lit up when he laughed made her heart beat faster. Jay made no move to break the gaze either so both were surprised when the waitress cleared her throat beside them.
“Ahem, here’s the burger and then the chicken wrap.”
She set the food in front of them, looking like she wanted to roll her eyes but managed to keep the customer service smile plastered to her face. Hailey felt her cheeks flush slightly and quickly focused on the food in front of her. They settled into their meal and finished it in a hurry, needing to get back to work. As they pulled out of the diner’s parking lot, Jay took a turn she wasn’t expecting and she shot him a look.
“I just need to swing by the bank real quick for a deposit, if that’s cool?”
She nodded when he glanced over and found herself thankful for the momentary break from his presence as he jogged into the building. Hailey tried to pull herself together, still reeling from the long look they had shared. Just as she managed to calm herself down, Jay returned to the truck and she was right back where she started. When they were almost to the precinct, Jay’s phone rang and it was Adam letting them know they had a lead. The two raced back up into the bullpen and gathered around to take in the update. Once Adam had clued everyone in, Hailey got to work at her desk and was thankful for the task to distract her from Jay. Kevin walked over to Jay’s desk, showing him something in a file he was holding.
“How was lunch?”
Kevin asked nonchalantly while Jay jotted down the information.
“Good. Except Hailey couldn’t keep her hands off my pickles.”
Hailey, who had chosen the absolute worst time to take a drink, choked on her water at his words. Her face instantly burned bright red as she patted herself and her desk dry. Kevin laughed at Jay’s joke and headed back to his desk. Jay stood from his chair, giving a quick stretch, but before he could go anywhere Kim walked in, instantly scrunching her face up.
“God what is that smell?”
She glanced around the room, eyeballing everyone to find the offending odor.
“Jay and Hailey had a pickle for lunch. Well, Hailey had Jay’s pickle. Or something like that.”
Adam rambled off, paying no attention to the room around him or the response his words received.
“Fried pickles. I had fried pickles.”
Jay tried to clarify, moving out from his desk to stand in the open. Hailey’s face still burned and she wanted to be anywhere but this room.
“Oh, I liked my version better.”
Adam teased, waggling his eyebrows slightly before returning his focus to his computer. Hailey couldn’t take it anymore and stood up from her desk, bolting around it and heading towards the break room. Except in her rush, she didn’t notice the loose cord sticking out from her desk which promptly tripped her and sent her flying towards Jay. He attempted to reach out and catch her but he was too slow and instead his step forward caused her to crash into the front of his jeans. Jay’s strong hands gripped her upper arms, hauling her back up into a standing position and she was pretty sure her face couldn’t burn any hotter. She darted around him and into the breakroom, collapsing into a chair and laying her forehead against the table. She heard him follow her in but couldn’t bring herself to look up.
“You okay?”
He asked, his tone sounding a little more timid than normal.
“I just tripped and fell face first into your crotch. End my life now, please.”
She never looked up but heard him pull out the chair next to her and she could feel him sitting close.
“Come on, face first into my crotch isn’t the worst thing in the world…”
He trailed off and she groaned into the wood of the table. She definitely couldn’t look up now.
“Okay, that came out wrong. I just meant…”
He stuttered out as she groaned again.
“Jay, stop talking.”
Her voice was muffled by her arm but he heard her loud and clear.
“Will do.”
He nodded, even though she wouldn’t see it. What she also didn’t see was the blush spreading across his own face. Hailey kept herself firmly planted against the table, pushing away all the thoughts of their new normal and what could happen if she pushed it just a little farther. If she met his eyes, she would have been surprised to see the same line of thinking behind his look as well. Maybe someday...

‧͙⁺˚・༓☾ ☽༓・˚⁺‧͙
‘stupid tanaka,’ yuu thinks, getting him into this mess. how was he supposed to confess to you, anyway? he was just a libero in their volleyball team, and openly obsessed over one (1) girl before he met you. his desk at home is littered with drafts of love letters he’s written to you; a drawer is filled with completed ones, he just can’t choose which one to give you. ryuunosuke suggested that he bakes you a cake because ‘who doesn’t like cake?’ and like two peas in a pod, sharing one collective brain cell, he agreed.
that brings us to the present, as yuu desperately looks for the ingredients listed on a small piece of paper. he could always go to coach ukai’s shop, but he wants that as a last resort. it’s christmas eve, and he sure as hell is running out of time if he wants to give the homemade cake for you and your family on christmas.
as he looked through the supermarket aisle, he’s rehearsing what he should say to you. he’s tried to confess once or… three times before, all of which either got interrupted or turned out badly. the libero remembers when he tried to confess to you but yamaguchi accidentally hit you with a serve and caused you to get a nosebleed. ryuunosuke tried to calm him down before he went feral on his junior.
he paid for the ingredients with the money he saved up - which he had only for the sole purpose of confessing to you - and started heading home. he was mumbling under his breath, “hey, i really like you… no. i know this is probably out of nowhere but will you go on a date… no.”
he was so focused on his words and didn’t realize that he wasn’t on the way home. yuu found himself standing in front of your doorstep. it isn’t his intention- oh god, what if you think he’s weird or something? how did he end up at your doorstep? as he turned on his heel to leave, the front door opened.
“yuu?” you asked, genuinely curious to see your classmate right outside your door. he froze mid-turn.
“what are you doing here? it’s the holidays.”
he smiled sheepishly as he faced you. “i brought these,” he lifted the grocery bag. “and i thought, why not bake a cake with you.”
you beamed at him, inviting him inside. the boy started thanking all the deities he could think of for making him sound so smooth and suave. the libero took off his shoes before stepping inside. he let himself be guided into your quaint kitchen, and that is when panic settled in. he’s inside your house, alone, it seems - you briefly mentioned to him that your parents were shopping for christmas dinner - and you’re going to bake his confession cake together. oh my god, he’s actually going to confess to you.
you both spent an hour making the batter, getting sidetracked when he smeared some of it on your face. a competitive glint shone in your eyes as you threw a handful of the leftover flour onto his hair, earning a yell from him. he isn’t mad, couldn’t even get himself to sound mad as your laugh rang like soft chimes of bells in his ears. you cleaned your face with a washcloth and passed another one to him, saying, “the flour will hopefully stick to the damp towel.”
yuu rubbed the damp cloth on his hair vigorously, trying to get the bits of flour off as you popped the cake batter into the oven. “hey, yuu-” you stopped, the words dying on your tongue as you see him with his hair down for the first time.
“yeah, y/n?” he asked, his eyes shining at you. you shake the thoughts from your head, “aren’t your parents going to worry?”
the boy grinned and flashed you a thumbs up. “nope! i told them i’m at your house and they’re fine with it. they like you, so that’s not really a problem to them.”
internal panic ensues.
you’re panicking as you realized he talks about you, to his parents. his parents. the very people you want to impress because you undoubtedly have a massive crush on their son and he practically revealed to you that he talks about you.
the libero, on the other hand, is dying inside. his soul left his body as his words sunk in. will you hate him for talking to his parents about you? do you find it weird? do you think he’s a creep? he hasn’t even come close to confessing and you might already reject him. did you even register what he said? he hopes not.
“noya…” you trailed off.
because of his nerves, he ended up bowing to you and stuttering as he shouted out, “i like you!”
a blush rapidly spread across his face in embarrassment, but you couldn’t see as he’s still bent forward. “yuu.”
he shut his eyes as soon as he straightened up and began to ramble. “i’m sorry! you probably didn’t expect this, and it may be out of the blue. hell, you might even think i like kiyoko, and i do- but not in that way! i,” he opened his eyes to see you standing so close to him, that he could see the faint traces of a blush on your cheeks.
he bowed once more, “i like you, please accept my feelings!”
“i like you too.” you say to him. yuu raised his head to look at you and felt his heart soar. “wait, you do?”
you rolled your eyes at him, and smirked. “i have been flirting with you for the past year. and i gave you chocolates on valentine’s day. i don’t even like valentine’s day.”
he moved closer to you and opened his arms. “can i?”
as soon as you nodded, yuu engulfed you into a tight hug, lifting you a good few inches off of the ground. the smell of his cologne - it smells different, he put on a new one, perhaps? - was intoxicating, but you couldn’t have it any other way. he set you down and pulled away for a bit, a goofy smile plastered on his lips.
the faint ding of the oven timer sounded, and both of you were brought into reality. he carefully took out the cake in the oven, and that’s when it clicked.
“you got ingredients for my favorite cake?” you asked, peeking from behind his shoulder.
“yeah, it’s supposed to be a confession cake!” cue you stopping once again. as much as he likes seeing these reactions from you, he was kinda disappointed how his confession didn’t go the way he planned it to. all is well though, as now he confessed to you, and you happen to feel the same.
the love letters in his drawer will make their appearance one day.

It Was Always You

Chapter Warnings: slow burn, fluff, angst, fighting,
Word Count: 1,600
Chapter 1:
You and the boys just finished taking out a vamps nest in some rural, backwoods town. The nest itself was bigger than the three of you expected and there were some close calls, but you guys got it done. Now you're heading back to the motel to get cleaned up, Sam is passed out in the back seat which left you and Dean in the front. You look over towards Dean and can tell he’s still pissed at you for almost getting bit by a vamp. In your defense you were preoccupied with the two vamps you were trying to decapitate in front of you and didn’t have enough time to turn around to spot the third. Luckily Dean stormed into the room, blade swinging, and saved you. You didn’t think much of it, being in dangerous situations is part of the job...hell, he’s the one who repeatedly preaches that before, during, and after hunts.
When it’s him in danger that's one thing but if it’s someone else, even if they have no control over the situation, it's a completely different thing. And this was that. He was pissed at you even though there was nothing you could do, and it’s not like you can go back and redo the scenario, so he’s gonna have to get over it. You wanted to get the conversation over with before you got back to the motel so that the three of you could hopefully have a good night and blow off some steam at a local bar you passed on the way into town.
You didn’t really know how to start or what to say so, without even looking at him, you say, “I’m sorry Dean…”
“Sorry what was that sweetheart? Couldn’t hear ya.”  He glances over and says with a bite of anger in his voice.
You are still too scared to look at him. You hate when Dean is mad at you. Especially when you had no control over the situation that caused it. Honestly, you don’t even really understand why he is mad, Sam has been in the situation you were just in hundreds of times and Dean has never been this pissy with him.
But still, you can’t help but tear up when responding, “I said I’m sorry, I know you're mad even though I don’t really know why, and I don’t like when you’re mad at me… so I’m sorry.” You say louder this time but still looking out the front windshield instead of at him.
“You don’t know why I’m mad? Don’t be stupid y/n. You know exactly why. You could’ve been bit or worse….” he snaps.
His knuckles are turning white he’s gripping the wheel so hard. And his jaw - oh god that jaw you’ve stared at for countless hours, the jaw that has taken blow after blow in fights, that jaw that sometimes rests on top of your head when he walks behind you to see what lore you’re reading up on, that jaw covered in the perfect amount of sexy stubble - is repeatedly clenching. You know you should be mad at how he reacted, upset that he's upset, but the ache in between your legs from seeing him wound up like this is proof of a much different reaction. You continue to watch the flex of his jaw muscles, his hands twisting tightly over the wheel, his emerald eyes with a predator-like focus on the road. You press your legs tighter together to create some form, any form, of friction to help alleviate the throbbing at your core.
You know you shouldn’t be thinking like this, for one Sam is literally in the back seat and two, Dean probably sees you as nothing more than an annoying sister. But you can’t help it. You try to focus and get yourself back under control, you turn your head back to the road, but out of the corner of your eye you can still catch glimpses of him. You cross your legs now and shift around in your seat, pretending to get comfortable, but really the motion is causing the seam in your skinny jeans to rub against your clit just right.
“You alright there?” Dean looks over, and for a fraction of a second you think you see a smirk cross his face. But, just as quickly as it was there, it was gone, and he was now looking at you quizzically.
You're ripped from the sinful thoughts and inner ramblings and panic takes over for a second. Come on y/n, calm down, play it cool, it’s just Dean… you tell yourself. You push the ache and throbbing of your core to the back of your mind and remind yourself that you can take care of it later. “Yeah, just uncomfortable, I need to get out of these clothes, the blood is causing them to stick.”
“Okayyyyy” he draws out still sounding confused, but then his expression changes and he looks back towards the road. Suddenly, he lets out a sigh and looks over at you, his expression now soft and caring, “I’m sorry for snapping on you sweetheart. I know it wasn’t your fault, but I…” he trails off and a look of pain and deep thought crosses his face. He looks down at his lap, takes a deep breath and then looks over at you, those eyes piercing your soul. “Damn it y/n, you scared the shit out of me okay. I know that danger is in the job description, but I hate seeing you hurt, and I don’t know what I would do if something happened to you.”
He looks back at the road ahead. You can tell he was holding something back, but you didn’t press the issue. You sat quiet for a moment, trying to comprehend everything he just said. What does that mean, he wouldn’t know what to do if something happened to me? You replay his statement over and over in your head. A flicker of hope builds in your chest that maybe deep down, Dean feels something for you too, but just as soon as that flicker lit, it was put out by your own subconscious reminding you that Dean doesn’t do relationships, he doesn’t want to risk anyone's lives for being close to him. So you push the statement and the thoughts and hopes it brought with it to the back of your mind. You look back over at Dean and can tell he’s hurt, maybe he thinks you're still mad at him. God, I should say something, do something, you tell yourself.
You reach over and take one of Dean’s hands off of the wheel and place it in between your own. With that minimal amount of contact your heart starts beating a million times faster, your breathing more shallow and labored, and sparks are shooting through every nerve in your body. Maybe you imagined it, but you swear you heard Dean's breath hitch at the touch, only you didn’t imagine it because you just watched him swallow the lump in his throat it caused. You look back down at his hand that you had subconsciously been rubbing with the pads of your thumbs, you steal a glimpse of him through your eyelashes and you catch him wetting his sinful lips taking a shaky breath and briefly shutting his eyes. It’s probably just because he’s emotional and still kind of upset, you reason with yourself. There is no way he can feel the same about you y/n, stop it, now tell him what you meant to when you grabbed his hand in the first place.
Now it’s your turn to take the shaky breath, “Dean, I really am sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you…” you try to articulate how to say the next part without giving any inward feelings away. “I promise to be more careful, and I understand why you snapped and why you were so upset. If something were to happen to you…” you tear up a bit and your breathing is getting a tad shaky. “Or Sam” you quickly stammer out fearing he may uncover your feelings for him if you don’t add it, “it would literally kill me.”
You look up at him when you’re done talking and his gaze meets yours, he uses the hand you were holding with both of yours to gently wipe a stray tear that made its way down your cheek. Without thinking you nuzzle into his hand, but quickly realize what you just did so you pull away and look back at the road.
Up ahead you see the blinking neon sign signalling you are almost back to the shithole of a motel you are shacked up in this weekend. You let out a breath of relief and turn to wake Sam. All the while replaying the last few minutes in your head. The conversations. The expressions. The body language. The feelings. The emotions. The physical contact, and what it all means.
You shake your head, trying to clear it. This is Dean, your best friend. You can’t ruin that. So, you decide to push it to the back of your head with everything else and lock it away. Dean puts the Impala in park and you all let out a sigh of relief, that you can finally take a load off. Then Sam finally and suddenly speaks up from the backseat with a wide puppy dog grin on his face, “So who wants to go blow off some steam and down a few drinks? It’s happy hour!”
To be continued….

a sky full of stars (and she was looking at her)
Word Count- 2.8k
Pairing- Penemily
Summary- Penemily highschool au where they are paired up on a English assignment! Based on this post.
Part 1 of my, maybe we’re from the same star, series
Read it here on ao3
Tw’s- very small mentions of substances, minor swearing
A/N- this is the first installment of a series based on my yearning posts, and my first time writing romance/3rd pov, I’d love some feedback!
It’s hard to miss Penelope Garcia. With her bright clothes and brighter personally it seems like the sun shines a spotlight on her. Her golden hair is like a halo around her, she looks like an angel, and perhaps one of these days Emily will get the courage to talk to her beyond small talk and group presentations. She’s pulled out of her thoughts when the shrill bell rings, too loudly for her tastes but this whole building seems to scream at her, so perhaps it’s fitting.
Ms. Blake starts to talk about ancient poetry. The greats from the time periods before everything got so complicated. English is not Emily’s favorite class but somehow Blake’s class is more or less interesting, is it because she’s a milf? Maybe, who’s to say. As the class nears its end, she announces, “Alright, as we close out our poetry unit, we have one last assignment that hopefully at least one of you will enjoy, it’s a group project where-” immediately two hands go up ready to ask the question that always gets asked when a group project is announced. “Before you ask, no, you aren’t picking your partners, I am,” a collective groan comes out of about half the class. Emily isn’t too mad about it though, she doesn’t have many friends, especially in honors English. JJ barely passes English as it is. She’s all alone here, so she’s glad she doesn’t have to suffer through the awkwardness of trying to find a partner before everyone else does and ending up with the one kid who she’s pretty sure has been high the entire year and likes to leer at her in the hallway. “For this assignment, you’ll have to analyze one famous poem, from whatever time period you’d like, and write an essay about the poet’s intentions. If you’d like extra credit, which I know for a fact some of you need, you can do a reading of the poem in front of the class or do a drawing that represents it. Any questions?”
The classroom fills with questions of ‘when is this due?’ And ‘this sucks do we have to do this’. Emily however, is distracted by one very colorful girl in the upper left corner of the room, her spot in the back lets her admire the view without being caught, which tends to make it difficult to pay attention, but well, some things are just more fun than others. Her attention is drawn back to Blake when she hears her name followed by Penelope Garcia.
Oh shit.
On the one hand, this is exactly the opportunity she’d been looking for to ‘make her move’ so to speak, on the other, she’s terrified of making a fool of herself. Emily realizes that she’s been sitting for a bit too long when Blake stops talking and the rest of the class has already paired off. She catches Penelope’s eyes and tries to fight the blush of her cheeks. The sound of her docs hitting the linoleum is a bit too intense for this setting, she prefers their ‘clunk’ when it’s a crowded room, and she can walk like she owns the place. Emily sits down at the desk adjacent to Penelope and gets ready to ruin her chances with her.
“Okay! Hi! I’m Penelope! Which you already knew because Ms. Blake announced it, but it’s polite to introduce yourself to people so I thought I would do that now which I’ve done so I’ll stop talking now!”
Emily can’t help but giggle a little at her rambling, she doesn’t want her to stop talking quite yet, her voice melodic to her ears.
“So, I’m not big in poetry, I’m more of a comic book gal if you catch my drift, so I was hoping that you had some thoughts?” She drags the o in hoping and trails off waiting for Emily to fill in the blanks. It takes her a second too long because her brain is short-circuiting but she manages.
“Yeah okay, um, I’ve read some Sappho back when my mother was stationed in Greece? That could work?” she hopes bringing up Sappho wasn’t too obvious of her intentions, but it was all she could think of. Sappho had a point when she said ‘Sweet mother, I cannot weave – slender Aphrodite has overcome me with longing for a girl’
“Yeah okay! Cool! We’ve got like 3 minutes left of class, would you want to go to Bricks and Beans after school to work on it?”
“Uh yeah, yeah, that, um, that sounds great! I’ll meet you in front of the school?”
“Yep!” She pops the ‘p’ and Emily thinks she can’t possibly get cuter.
Emily’s walk to lunch has never been quite this mix of excitement and anxiety as it is now. Hopefully, JJ will be able to make sense of what’s happening because the wires in Emily’s brain are very much twisted.
“Okay, I’m telling you it’s not a date,”
“Yeah I know it’s not technically a date but come on. I personally have never asked my group project partner to a coffee shop before. She obviously likes you.”
Jennifer Jareau has been blessed with the right combination of looks that ensures she never had to wonder if her crushes liked her back. Emily wishes she had that special brand of confidence, but it’s simply not realistic, the number of openly queer girls at school is small, the number of them that would be interested in her? Even smaller.
“Look I’m not going to be the loser that gets my heart broken all right,” she steals a fry off of JJ’s tray before her hand gets smacked.
“Ugh I’m so bored here, promise me you’ll at least try. I need some new drama around here and you two would be so fucking cute.”
“Fine. On the condition that when* it goes south you’re buying me ice cream.”
Emily’s day goes by slowly and all at once. Hours turn into years turn into seconds and before she knows it she’s awkwardly standing outside the building waiting for Penelope to meet her.
When she does, Emily’s pulse quickens ever so slightly in her presence. It’s annoying as hell.
“I was worried you were standing me up,” a futile attempt on Emily’s behalf of trying to seem calm, cool, and collected.
“What! I would never, I’ve been looking forward to getting a macchiato and hanging out with you and Sappho all day! Coolest ladies from recent history,” she has to try and stop herself from getting too excited at Penelope’s words, they don’t mean anything, she’s just some loser that she has to work with to get a good final grade in the class. A means to an end, disposable.
“I don’t think Sappho counts as recent history but thank you, ma’am,” ma’am? God, what is she doing, this is going to go south faster than the time she tried to wear ripped jeans to one of her mother’s stupid dinner parties. To her surprise, her stupid comment is met with a giggle on Penelope’s part.
“Why thank you darling,” she replies in a phony southern accent that makes them both crack up, “Lead the way.”
Bricks and Beans is the staple coffee shop where all the high schoolers hang out after school or work during college. The owners are a sweet old couple in their 70’s who seem to be reliving the past with the vintage decorations. The pair settle into a table in the back, a window next to them showing off the highway. Emily is tasked with buying the coffees and Penelope rattles off her order filled with things Emily’s never even heard of.
“Okay, I’m pretty sure the barista is laughing at me now but here is your sugar coffee with whipped cream,” she says as she slides into her seat, placing down the coffees on the minimal free space left.
“My savior,” she says, fake swooning, “Okay so, Sappho? That’s the lesbian right?”
Emily answers with a snort before actually replying, “Yeah that’s the lesbian. I’m sure Blake will love it. I’m like, 90% sure she’s gay.”
“Single English teacher who loves Oscar Wilde? Yeah, I get it. My gaydar is spectacular by the way.”
“Oh yeah?”
She nods.
“Um, yeah, okay how about this poem:
‘and in your song most of all she rejoiced.
But now she is conspicuous among Lydian women
as sometimes at sunset
the rosyfingered moon
surpasses all the stars. And her light
stretches over salt sea
equally and flowerdeep fields.
And the beautiful dew is poured out
and roses bloom and frail
chervil and flowering sweetclover.
But she goes back and forth remembering
gentle Atthis and in longing
she bites her tender mind’”
“That’s gorgeous,” Penelope had a dreamy look in her eyes, like seeing a beautiful sunset for the first time. Except, instead of a sunset she was looking at Emily, seeing her, like for the first time, “I love when artists talk about the stars,” she leans back on her chair and looks up as if she’s looking at a constellation and not an off-white popcorn ceiling. Her collarbones are exposed and Emily feels like a 17th-century peasant pining over exposed ankles, “There’s just something about the stars ya know? They’re so far away, but sometimes it feels like we’re there with them. They twinkle at us and at each other,” she pauses to make eye contact, “maybe the greatest love story is in the sky,” there’s a beat too long, Emily doesn’t know how to respond to that comment, it’s hard to follow art without ruining it.
“Or maybe I’m just a sad sap for romance.”
“No!” She gets a of couple heads turned her way, the exclamation too loud for the environment, “I mean no, I get what you mean, they’re beautiful. Sometimes at night I go on my roof just to stargaze. It’s so peaceful there,” it’s now or never, “you should do it with me someday.”
“I’d love that,” it’s almost bashful, the two of them hoping the underlying meanings of their words are being shown, lest their hopes not be conveyed and come shattering down like a falling star.
The sun slowly sets as they work on interpreting the inter-workings of Sappho’s mind. The drinks run out so Emily buys them both hot chocolate, extra whipped cream and chocolate chips for Penelope. When she takes a sip, the whipped cream sticks to the side of her face.
“You got some whipped cream on your face,” she gestures to the offender in question. The blonde tries and fails, to get it off.
“Did I get it?”
“No, it’s more,” after some failed attempts, and the failure of Emily’s common sense, she decides to just get it off herself. It feels too intimate too quick, they both freeze, Emily’s hand inches away from Penelope’s face. Their eyes lock, scared brown eyes met soft blue ones and just for a second, there is peace in between their beating hearts and hands. Emily quickly brings her hand down and mumbles an apology.
After three hours they call it a night, Emily now the proud owner of Penelope’s phone number. On her drive home, she wonders if she’d done right, and she wonders if she’d done wrong. If she was clear about what stargazing meant to her. A branch into her world, her safe space. To share the dark night sky with something is to share your soul with them. Even JJ didn’t know about her nighttime viewings. Did Penelope feel the same way? The shared smiles and small laughs pointed yes. But Penelope was Penelope and Emily was Emily. How could an angel love a human? Why would it sacrifice its virtue for the danger of love? If Penelope was pink and Emily was dark green, could they mix and make something beautiful or would they both end up a ruined brown?
Dinner is tense as always, she does not share anything with her mother, she does not want to. They tiptoe around each other hoping that they won’t step on each other’s toes and crash. Emily retreats to her room the second dinner is over and opens a window. She loves that it gets dark earlier now. The fresh fall air trumps that tacky of scented candles that fill the house in a futile attempt to make it a home. She opens her laptop to finish the concluding paragraph of their essay. She allows herself to be lost in the words of another in order to avoid her own problems of love and belonging. Her phone rings. It’s her problems. They chat with careful conversation about their project and finally, it is finished. It looks good actually, or at least, to Emily it does. It’s not going to win them a Pulitzer, but they’ll get an A.
And then, “Hey.”
“Hey?” They’ve been on the phone for a half an hour, she’s not sure why she’s being greeted all of a sudden.
“Does your offer to stargaze still stand? It’s nice out tonight and, I don’t know, it sounded nice?”
“Yeah of course! Do you, um, do you need a ride or?”
“Nah I got my license and good old Esther. I do need your address though.”
“Oh yeah, I’ll text it to you. Who’s Esther?”
“My car! She’s a lovely thing thought she needed a name. I’ll be there in say, 15 minutes?”
“Sure. Bye Penelope.”
Holy shit.
Okay, she’s got 15 minutes to both have everything ready, but also seem completely casual about the fact that her crush is coming over to stargaze on her roof. The ambassador is long retreated either in bed or into her office, so she shouldn’t be a problem. Emily grabs a couple of blankets for them to sit on to avoid the chilly breeze and a bag of popcorn. She brushes her hair and touches up her eyeliner, not that it’s really visible in the dark, but it helps her feel confident which she’s desperate for at the moment. Her phone buzzes with a text, *im here!!!* It reads. She takes a deep breath before very slowly opening the door.
“Hi,” she whispers, the wind carrying her voice, but it’s just loud enough for its recipient. She closes the door
“Hi! So! Stargazing? That’s fun, I’m like, really excited it’s been a while since I’ve done something like this,” she somehow makes a whisper seem filled with enough energy to power a flashlight that Emily definitely should have brought. They make their way to the intersection where the hill meets the rooftop, and they only trip once, on a stick, but together they stay upright. Emily throws the blankets on the roof and climbs up on the chair before throwing her body on the roof. With her help, Penelope makes her way up after a couple of tries. By the time they lay the blankets out and are sitting down, they’re both practically crying from laughter, her nerves from earlier disappearing slowly.
The laughter fizzles out, and they’re both left staring at the stars. Penelope apparently is an expert of both astronomy and astrology so Emily’s ears are blessed with the sound of her voice. Like sunshine on a sweet summer day. She thinks that Penelope and her are like the sun and the moon, both beautiful, and complementary. Emily’s gaze shifts from the constellations to Penelope’s side profile. The stars shine almost as bright as her, and she can’t help but watch her instead. She can see the stars in her eyes, perhaps they were always there, but they’re more visible now looking in their reflection.
“God they’re beautiful,” Penelope says in awe. Like she can’t believe she’s blessed with the presence of the stars when really it is the stars who should have the honor.
“Yeah, yeah they are,” at this point she’s openly gazing at Penelope. When Penelope turns to meet her gaze she thinks she’s been caught, that it’s over and this night will be one for the ages in terms of beauty and heartbreak. Slowly, a hand makes its way to her cheek, cold like the air around them, but it somehow manages to set her skin on fire.
“May I?”
Emily nods and then they are lips on hers, it is sweet just like her. She’s being kissed under the starlight by a girl who deserves only beauty. Perhaps her dark green can be the field by the sunset of Penelope’s pink in the painting they make together. They do not have to mix, they can simply be combined to create something stunning. They can simply be. They pull apart slowly, and looking into her eyes, Emily thinks that the stars in comparison are simply dull. There is nothing as bright and beautiful in the world as the eyes of your lover.

Axa could feel them watching her as they settled into their room at the Goose and Fox that night, could feel them wanting to know her. Not only so they could understand why she had done what she had with Purnisc and Kaenra, but also so they could (no doubt) uncover and examine all the painful, humiliating life experiences behind her every decision, all her successes and failures, and then judge her accordingly. Like kith will, she thought, of course. That’s normal and healthy to think.
Genuine concern mingled with morbid curiosity, hung palpably over the group like a scythe posed to reap as everyone sat in awkward silence and waited for Axa to break the silence. So she drained her goblet, got out her pipe and her whiteleaf, and with a grim sense of determination, she told them about it.
About the career she'd built back in Ixamitl, where she had lucked into a scholarship to one of her hometown's more prestigious lore colleges, bestowed on her by a generous politician acquainted with her father. Because she'd always loved to learn and hear stories about kith from around the world, she had chosen to put her good fortune to good use and study to become a naturalist, concerning herself with the cultures and languages and histories that constituted the kith population of Eora.
While most of her colleagues had decided to specialize in Vailian– a popular choice for the political or business-oriented crowd– Axa fancied herself an intellectual, and so she had challenged herself with mastering Ordhjóma: the exotic, mysterious language of the Glamfellen, separated for 10,000 years from their tropical Sceltrfolc cousins in the far-flung, frozen south, in The White that Wends. She had thrown herself into her studies, blowing through massive tomes and ancient scrolls like a hurricane, outperforming her peers with ease. Within four years, Axa had risen like a Dawnstar to the top of her class.
And then the field work had begun.
"It's one thing to read about a people, learn their language from books and study up on their culture," Axa explained, stuffing her pipe slowly, taking her time. "It's quite another to visit their homeland, speak with them, live among them. I was barely seventeen, I'd never even been out of the city..."
Kana winced, painful recognition in his black eyes. "Culture shock can be particularly difficult for younger scholars. We have certain expectations after all our years of academic study, and to find out that the genuine article doesn't quite measure up after all that work can feel disorienting and disappointing. There's not only the shock, there's anger at the natives, and then the guilt over said anger..."
Axa accepted Aloth's proffered light while Kana trailed off– it always delighted her, using arcane flame for something so trivial as a smoke– and sighed. "That's what was really odd about it. I did experience some culture shock, but ultimately the problem wasn't me. It was them. I know it sounds like I'm just being bitter, but... honestly, for whatever reason, the whole village really was actively freezing me out."
"Nice," Edér chuckled, grinning at the unintentional pun until Aloth's glare chastised him back into solemnity.
"No one wanted to talk to me," Axa continued. "Oh, I tried, incessantly, but they just... kept turning away, or answering with nonsense or... or riddles. My colleagues had little difficulty integrating, but I felt like I was just barely tolerated by the villagers. I tried asking the other students about it, but they either feigned ignorance really well or they honestly couldn't tell what these Glamfellen had against me."
"Some sort of... racial prejudice, perhaps?" Aloth looked as uncomfortable as he sounded, but at least the topic was finally broached. Axa shrugged.
"I don't think so, but I honestly have no idea. The other three scholars with me weren't orlans, but they weren't Glamfellen either. And no one ever specifically said anything about my being an orlan."
Sagani nodded. "In my experience, while most Glamfellen tend to be as standoffish as any elf– no offense, Aloth– they don't usually have specific prejudices like that."
"Right? Ordinarily, unity and hospitality are taken very seriously in the frozen south; to support one another is indispensable to survival. Nevertheless, I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong by them, and it was driving me out of my gods damned mind. I was supposed to be studying local accents, dialects, and colloquialisms, but that's somewhat difficult when nobody will actually speak with you. So I ended up spending a lot of time eavesdropping on people, mostly outside, by myself."
Sagani shook her head, drawing her whetstone across her hunting knife. "Bad idea to go it alone out there in the White. All kinds of dangers hiding in the snow."
The orlan barked a sharp, sardonic laugh. "You're telling me. That's how I met Vaargys."
As soon as his name was out of her mouth, Axa could feel her entire demeanor transform, and the atmosphere in the room with her. It was the first time she'd said his name since she'd left home, and even though she knew they'd already been listening, her little audience really seemed to be listening now. She felt her face get warm and her eyes sting from the impending tears, so she turned to the window, trying hard to focus on the streets outside and not at her own reflection in the glass.
Come on, girl. You’ve run far enough. It's time you faced this.
"I spotted him from afar one day at dusk: a dark, distant, shaggy figure out there among the rocks, shambling around just beyond the village's borders. It took me a few minutes to even realize he was kith. My colleagues noticed me watching him eventually, warned me away from him: the 'wild man' the locals called the 'Cursed Vagabond,' the 'Exiled Priest.' And he was out there all alone, struggling to survive because nobody wanted him around, and no one could say why..."
"You had a lot in common," Aloth murmured gravely. It wasn't difficult to see where this story was going. And he couldn't help but think it sounded similar, thematically, to one he knew quite well.
"And kith will paint a face on a rock with their own blood if it means they can have someone to talk to," Sagani sighed sadly, sympathy heavy in her chest. She could see where this was going too, and she dug her fingers into the thick fur on the back of Itumaak's neck for comfort. He grunted in appreciation.
"So I introduced myself, like you do. He was... cautious, but receptive. It helped that I'd brought gifts." Axa exhaled, and blue smoke curled up before her, walling her off. "We got to know one another, and over time we became fond of each other. We started sharing meals and stories about ourselves, our lives. He told me he was a priest of Wael, self-taught, and exiled from his clan for venerating the Eyeless Face instead of the Beast of Winter... He let me get close to him, cut his hair, tend to his wounds..." The tears spilled over at last, and she paused for a moment, hid her face.
"And you fell in love," Sagani finished for her. Classic. Tale as old as time.
Axa smiled again even as she brushed her tears away, dragging her little fist across her golden brown cheeks. "And I fell hard. I was his first real friend, gave him his first kiss. And very soon, I became his first lover." This made the men blush and look away. Axa and Sagani paid them no heed.
"I was fascinated by him, and he adored me. We made our own little world together there in the caves, in the snow. And we lived there, separate from everyone and everything else. Until I had to return to Ixamitl, of course. But I had a plan: Before I could talk myself out of it, I asked him to marry me– the very night before I was to return to the Eastern Reach. ...Gods, I had known him for only five months."
"And... wait, how old were you?" Edér spoke up for the first time since Axa had started her story, confusion clear on his face.
"I– Seventeen, almost eighteen by the time I went back home," she clarified, miffed at the interruption. "I'm twenty-two, now."
The blond man held his hands out in front of him, squinting at his fingers, baffled. "And... and how old were you when you left home? Hey, how old was he?"
Kana sighed and leaned over, patting him on the shoulder with one huge hand and confiscating the man's pipe with the other. "Erh– Never mind that now, my friend. Please, Axa, continue." He smiled that big, toothy smile at the little woman, and she blinked very slowly.
"...I brought him home to meet my family and colleagues, to assist me in my studies since all I'd really brought back from the Land was him, and ultimately, hopefully, to become my husband. In the interest of brevity– albeit somewhat belated– here’s how all that turned out: my family and colleagues hated and distrusted him, and after I had defended him so fiercely I'd alienated myself from most of my peers, I found out that about three-quarters of everything he'd ever told me about his home and his language was complete horseshit and all of our work together was complete bunkum. So! I burned it all in a big bonfire behind our house before telling him to leave and never come back." She ticked her misfortunes off on her fingers as she described them, her hands trembling, and then gesticulated fiercely before letting her fists fall to the small tabletop before her. "And then... I left, too. And now, here I am."
...Gods, that was easy. Much easier than I thought it'd be. Why was it so–
She rambled on before she could lose her nerve. "So. That's why I... wanted to do that for Kaenra. My fiancé lied to me and fucked up my life, too, and I can't just ignore that kind of shit when I see it anymore." She sighed, turning to the window again with her pipe still burning away in her hand. "Vaargys is the reason I had to leave my home and everything I've ever known, because his lies ruined my career and my academic standing and my reputation. How could I just stand by and watch as it happened to someone else?"
"Yet, you advised Kaenra to forgive Purnisc?" Aloth twisted his fingers together in his lap, staring at them rather than looking at Axa as he spoke. "After... all he'd done?"
Sagani glanced at him, narrowing her eyes as he reached up to smooth his hair– and wipe away a stray bead of sweat in the process. Is it my imagination, or is he...?
Axa kept her gaze fixed on the street below. "Yeah, that sort of surprised me too, to be honest." She spotted a stray soul, its violet wisps of essence drifting slowly amongst the city goers, and she squeezed her eyes shut, felt them burn behind her eyelids. "I suppose... I just got the feeling that it wasn't too late for them, that what they had for each other wasn't so broken it couldn't be repaired. Vaargys and me... not so. There was no coming back from what he'd done, and we both knew it."
"Whatever became of him? Of Vaargys?" Kana leaned forward eagerly, his eyes shining with compassion. For once, he actually wasn't taking notes on the conversation, and Sagani noticed that, too.
Axa opened her eyes, and saw the lost soul on the street no more. She shuddered. "After I confronted him, Vaargys simply... left. Vanished into the horizon, just as abruptly as he'd first appeared to me. And then, I got to clean up after him– after us– all alone. I wasn't up to the task; wasn't really up to the task of anything but hiding in bed and regretting my entire life. I could really only scrape together the wherewithal every now and then to go out and sell off or give away all the ridiculous trinkets and baubles we'd accumulated together. A few of the things I tried to get rid of turned out to be stolen, of course– big surprise, Axa, he's a thief and a liar– which did my already brutalized image no favors. Nor my purse, when I was obliged to pay out of my pocket for his chicanery."
"Villain," Kana spat, shaking his head slowly. "Scoundrel! ...Oh, how dastardly, to sow discord between the woman he loves and her neighbors and colleagues, then to abscond, completely free of reproach!" His sorrowful frown was as huge and expressive as his smiles always were, almost theatrically so.
Sagani just barely looked over in time to spot Aloth surreptitiously roll his eyes, and she couldn't suppress her grin. I thought so. Ondra's Lure, they're pretty obvious now that I think of it...
The elf cleared his throat and took the reins. "Shall we assume, then, that your family and friends were unable or unwilling to aid you in your time of need?"
Axa scoffed. "My little brother was sympathetic, but ultimately powerless to help me. He's stuck too far under our mother's thumb. He's a Godlike, and it's made things... difficult, for both of them. He feels obligated to her. As for our mother, she blamed me for my own misfortunes, for 'shacking up' with a man like Vaargys in the first place. So... that sort of says it all about our relationship. My father hasn't been in the picture since I was 13, and any non-academic friends I hadn't already traded for school, I ended up trading for Vaargys. I'd made him my whole world, and he–" She stopped herself, puffed on her pipe. "I don't... really make new friends easily. Never have."
Kana laughed good-naturedly. "With all due respect, present company seems to indicate quite the contrary."
"Ha! Since becoming a Watcher with her own castle who offers to help everyone she meets solve all their problems, I do seem to be quite popular, yes," the orlan agreed with a wry smirk. "...I jest, of course. In any case, the friends I do make, I tend to keep. And cherish." She smiled at Kana earnestly, and now he averted his eyes and went ruddy in the face.
Sagani and Aloth surprised one another, simultaneously faking coughing fits to cover their derisive snorts. Kana went even redder, but still managed a sheepish smile as Axa quickly redirected back to the topic at hand.
"In any case, it was my mother who gave me the idea to relocate to the Dyrwood. She brought back the notice advertising the caravan from the marketplace, threw it at me as I lay in my little nest of quilts and despair, and told me I had better either try and do something to rebuild my life or I may as well just return my soul to the Wheel to start a new one, save it some time and trouble."
"So... in response to your fiancé sabotaging your career and your reputation in your own home community, your own mother told you to... choose between self-exile and suicide?" Aloth spoke very quietly, very carefully. When Axa nodded and shrugged, puffing nonchalantly on her pipe, he couldn't quite come up with anything to say to that.
"As harsh as it sounds," she pressed on as she rose and crossed the room to stand before the hearth, "I agreed with her. I still do. Mama grew up a slave and only finally earned her freedom by running away, so maybe she's biased, but... I was never going to be able to move on like that, lying around like I was dead already, surrounded by bad memories. I had to do something, get up and get out. And wouldn’t it be my luck, she dropped a nice, pre-packaged escape plan in my lap, just like that. Nicest thing she'd done for me in a good long while. ...So. That's what lead me to the Dyrwood."
"And then it lead you to the bîaŵac, the Engwithan ruins, the machine," Kana murmured, rubbing his chin and studying the little woman. "Perchance, did you ever pray to Wael that you might live an interesting life? Because if so, you've had your wish granted many times over!"
"It's funny," Axa sighed as she bent and tapped her pipe against the bricks of the fireplace, "you'd think I'd hold a grudge against Wael, allowing Their priest to make a fool of me like that. But in the end, I had to admit that although he betrayed my trust and wrecked my life, Vaargys hadn't actually ever violated any of Wael's tenets. ...Made me rethink the gods, a bit. Maybe he was a true servant of Wael after all, sent to guide me here for some reason. And I do still pray to Wael for guidance, on occasion."
The aumaua sat up in his chair, beaming. "Ah! Shall we go to the Hall of Revealed Mysteries tomorrow after all, then? We can ask the scriveners' opinion!"
"Gods! I spill my guts to you, and you're still thinking about going to the library?" Axa shook her head and chuckled. "You're a mystery, Kana."
"Wait, so... you were gonna marry a pale elf?" Edér mumbled into his pillow, half asleep and trying to kick his boots off. "But you're an orlan. Would that... how would that work?"
The little woman threw the sheets back on her bed, using a little more force than she'd meant to. "Another mystery, Edér," she snapped, rolling her eyes. "Mysteries abound."
The other two men winced as Sagani laid a gentle, steady hand on the orlan's shoulder. "Hey. ...Hel of a day for all of us. Let's call it a night, yeah?"
So they did.

Birthday (Ethan x F!MC)
Pairing: Dr. Ethan Ramsey x F!MC (Dr. Lilac Allende) Word count: 1,200+ Warning: Some adult language Premise: On her birthday, Ethan shows up at her door with a gift.  Author’s Note: Pointless fluff. Part 2 coming soon :)
Tumblr media
______
Of all nights, she did not want to be alone on the night of her birthday. Lilac had spent her medical career resigned to the idea that being a doctor meant postponing celebrations because of impossible shift hours.
It didn’t make it any less lonely.
The phone's screen was almost blinding in the darkness of her room. Her fingers hovered over his contact name, recklessly wishing she could just call. But then, what would she say if he picked up?
“Come sleep with me, Ethan.”
The rejection would be more crushing tonight than ever.
With a frustrated sigh, she threw her phone aside on the mattress. Willing all thoughts of piercing blue eyes away, she shifted on her bed, her covers a tangled mess on her limbs.
It wasn't long before a resounding bang startled her upright. Lilac climbed out of bed, determined to investigate, before she remembered it was only her and Elijah in the apartment, the latter sound asleep in his room. Sienna was on the emergency shift, Jackie had an overnight babysitting gig with the neighbors, and she hadn't spoken much to Aurora to know with certainty where she was.
Before panic could set in, she heard a familiar voice from the hallway outside their door.
“Fuck.”
The last thing she expected to see when she opened the door was the very man she had just spent hours thinking about, kneeling down at her feet, looking equal parts exasperated and flustered.
“Ethan?”
He straightened up at the sight of her, almost jumping, his handsome face flushing with color. It took him a moment to compose his features, schooling them to his usual, inscrutable facade. “Did I wake you?”
“Not really,” she replied. There was something almost urgent about his expression, despite his feeble attempt to hide it. A thought occurred to her. “What’s wrong? Did something happen at the hospital?”
“No,” he assured her. “Everything is as usual.”
“Then, what —” she started, but her eyes landed on something at her feet. In her shock at seeing Ethan, she hadn't noticed what he had been kneeling over. It had fallen over when she had opened the door.
It was a book, and by the looks of it, a very expensive one. Lilac bent down to pick it up and for a split second, Ethan looked as though he might protest. Instead, he shut his eyes, the pink flush coloring his cheeks deepening still.
“‘Anne of Green Gables,’” Lilac read out loud. It was a beautiful edition, one she had never seen before. The gleaming leather of the cover felt soft against her touch as she looked up at him in confusion.
Ethan, on the other hand, looked as though he wanted the floor to swallow him whole.
“It’s your favorite book, isn’t it?” he asked when he finally seemed capable of speech, his tone uncharacteristically doubtful. “You told me about it on the drive to Evelyn’s gallery.”
Lilac stared back at him, stunned.
The night of their patient’s exhibit, she had raised a brow at the audio book that automatically played when he started his car: Howard Zinn’s A People's History of the United States. After teasing him relentlessly about how predictable that book choice was, he challenged her to suggest something better. Lilac hadn’t hesitated to name her favorite childhood book, the title said so casually that it could easily be forgotten. Except, he hadn’t forgotten.
“You remembered,” she whispered at the same time Ethan hurriedly said, “It’s for you, for your birthday.”
Their eyes met, locking together like magnets.
“I wasn’t sure if you owned this edition. I found it through a Canadian bookstore online,” he rambled, no doubt as an attempt to fill the elongated pause.  “It wasn’t my intention to wake you. I was only going to leave it by your doorstep and go. Except I dropped it and probably woke your whole building.”
For once, she was rendered entirely speechless. The mental image of Ethan scourging the internet for a rare copy of a book she confessed to loving once made her throat tighten for some inexplicable reason. Soon after, she felt an unwelcome prickling at the back of her eyes. She averted her eyes down to the book, the beautiful golden, embossed title shining back at her. No one had ever done something so thoughtful for her and realizing this made her chest tug longingly.
It occurred to her that he was probably expecting her to say something.
Before she could, Ethan swept his hand down his face, evidently embarrassed and probably irritated at being so.
“God, this was a mistake,” he muttered. “I should go.”
“No,” she said quickly, finally finding her voice. Her hand flew out to his arm as he moved to leave. “Stay.”
Those eyes that drove her to insanity studied her, something raw and vulnerable in them. Heart thundering, Lilac was certain the same could be found in hers.
“Ethan,” she whispered. He closed his eyes in turn, the words a caress.
In the loaded silence that followed, the yearning from the past weeks became palpable, pulsing between them in the mere inches that separated their bodies. Neither could ignore it nor resist it anymore.
Paying no mind to any rational thought, Lilac closed the space between them in one quick stride, taking his mouth in hers. A small moan escaped her when he responded at once, pulling her body close to his, hand losing themselves in her hair. His mouth, softer somehow than she had remembered, opened for her, his tongue leaving a searing trail along her lower lip.
“Ethan,” she gasped when his beautiful lips moved to the column of her neck.
His response was a groan, lost against her shoulder. It made her body thrum with unrestrained desire. His powerful hands, desperate to hold as much of her as possible, inched under the hem of the over sized t-shirt she wore to bed.
“Lilac?” Elijah’s voice came from his doorway.
They sprang apart at once.
“Oh, Dr. Ramsey,” he said with surprise, stopping his chair abruptly in the middle of the hallway. “Good evening.”
“Evening, Dr. Greene,” Ethan returned in an even voice.
“I heard…” Elijah trailed off, a tiny quiver at the corner of his mouth. One look at their flushed, guilty expressions told him everything he needed to know. “Never mind. Just wanted to make sure you were okay, Lilac.”
“Fine,” she muttered, still breathless.
Her friend’s poor attempt at a serious demeanor cracked slightly and Lilac felt her face flare with heat. With a smile too mirthful for her liking, Elijah announced he was going back to bed, wishing them both a good night.
“Sorry,” Lilac mumbled to Ethan once he was gone. “It’s probably not good that he saw you.”
To her surprise, Ethan shrugged dismissively. “He already saw me walking out of your bedroom once.”
She pressed the book to her chest, at loss for what else to say. His eyes, dark from their previous embrace, scrutinized her closely. Finally, she asked, “Do you still want to come in?”
Ethan gave her a small smile. It evoked a hopeful reaction since this would be the part where he gently turned her down. Instead, blue eyes full of promise, he said, “Tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?”
“We can be at my place. No interruptions.”

You sit in the back of the white van, looking straight ahead at the back of Wanda’s head in front of you. Clint is driving, shoulders set stiffly, his knuckles white around the wheel. If you had to pick one word to describe the mood of the car, you would have to go with an obvious “silent.” Everyone seems grim—everyone except for Scott, who’s sitting next to you—so close, in fact, that you could feel him—
“Are you—vibrating?” you ask in disbelief, looking at him sideways.
“I—uh—you just talked to me?”
“Yeah?”
“Oh my god, wow, I definitely haven’t been waiting like years for this to happen, I mean look at you, you’re just—“
You’re full-on staring at him now, brow furrowed in confusion and amusement.
“Thanks—I think?”
“God, I just—I’m such a huge fan of yours. My daughter Cassie loves what you do, she can’t get enough of you on the news. ‘Record it, Daddy!’ she always says when you’re on, and I say, ‘Okay, peanut!’ because I want to watch you as much as she does, and—oh, lord, I’m making such a fool of myself, I’m sorry—“
“Hey, it’s okay! Just—take a breather,” you say, chuckling. “That’s—really flattering, actually. Very nice of you.”
“Oh, wow,” Scott says, and you can actually see him blush at your words. “Um, thanks—that means a lot.”
“Hey, I’ve heard of what you’ve done, too. Pretty amazing stuff,” you say, and his face practically glows.
“Aw, it’s nothing—I mean, compared to you, I’m just insignificant. Like an ant—okay, that was horrible,” he trails off. Once he sees you laughing at his unintended joke, he visibly relaxes and smiles along with you.
“You know, Scott,” you say, “I think the fact you were asked here is pretty telling of your abilities. They wouldn’t have wanted you to come if they didn’t think you were capable.” He looks down shyly, murmuring a thanks, and you grin at him. You’re beginning to get an idea of this man—adorable, dorky, determined with a heart of gold. He’s not too hard on the eyes, either.
“Hey, Scott, tell me some more about your daughter,” you say, and the two of you strike up a conversation.
At some point, Clint yells at the two of you to pipe down, muttering something about not being able to think over your laughter. Wanda just shoots you a smug look, raising her eyebrows suggestively. You roll your eyes at her, muttering “grumpy ol’ Clint” before turning back to Scott and talking at a reduced volume.
✖️✖️✖️
After some time, Scott notices you stifle a series of yawns. Your eyes start to droop, and he finds your slow blinks stupidly endearing. “Sleepy?” he asks softly.
You giggle, and he swears his heart bursts from how cute it is. “Yeah, a little. The car’s moving really smoothly and y—“ You trail off.
“What?”
“It’s nothing, I just—I guess your voice is pretty soothing, too,” you say, and Scott clears his throat subconsciously.
“Uh, thanks! I mean, I think that’s what I should say—sorry, it’s—that’s really nice of you, thanks,” he stutters out, feeling a mixture of embarrassment and pride. You smile at him before yawning again, covering your wide-open mouth with a hand he wishes he could hold. He doesn’t think he could ever work up the courage to do that, but your compliment makes him feel a little powerful. Adrenaline rushing through him, he opens his mouth to make an offer.
“Um, if you’re—y’know—tired, you could always, like, rest your head on my shoulder if you wanted? Of course, I’m not trying to force you or anything, but it might be more comfortable than the window. Or maybe not. But, uh, offer still sta—“ His rambling is cut off by your (very soft and nice-smelling) head softly landing on the offered shoulder. He stiffens at first, unsure of how to react, but eventually leans his head onto yours, feeling your hair brush against his cheek. He fully intends to stay awake to savor every single second of your presence, but your steady breathing, soft body, and comforting smell all but force him to drift softly into sleep.
✖️✖️✖️
The sound of voices outside the van rouses you, and you start when you remember you had fallen asleep on Scott shoulder. God, how embarrassing, you think, sitting up straight. To make matters worse, there’s a dark patch on Scott’s shoulder that makes your heart drop. You couldn’t possibly have—drooled on his shoulder, could you? Hopefully he won’t notice. Looking up, you realize that the two of you are alone in the van. He’s still asleep, leaning back onto the headrest. You’re about to gently shake him awake when the van door slams open, blinding your still-sleepy eyes with daylight.
Scott jumps, also startling awake. “What time zone is this?” he asks, and you laugh before hopping out of the van and realizing that standing in front of you is the rest of your team. You nod and wave at Steve, Sam, and Bucky—you had fought with them a few times before.
Scott rushes by you, exclaiming “Captain America!” and shaking the mentioned hero’s hand vigorously. His eyes are full of adoration as he continues, “It’s an honor! I’m shaking your hand too long—“ He steps back, an awkwardly adorable smile on his face as he clumsily introduces himself to everyone else. After introductions, it‘s time to get suited up, and the two of you walk side by side.
“Hey, uh, I’m sorry for—y’know,” you say, motioning to his still-damp shoulder.
“No, it’s okay—I don’t mind. My mom always used to say that drooling meant you were sleeping really well. So I’m glad you were comfortable,” he says, laughing.
“I most certainly was,” you answer, laughing with him.
“You were so calm meeting them, I mean, wow, that’s impressive! I know you’ve fought with them before, but I would still be losing my mind if I was anywhere near Cap,” he continues.
“They’re just like the rest of us,” you say. “Powerful, yes, but also imperfect people who need help. I’m just here to provide that help.”
“Wow,” Scott says, staring at you with doe eyes. “That’s something else.”
You just smile affectionately at him.
✖️✖️✖️
Scott is speechless for a full minute when he sees you in your fighting gear. Standing stock-still in shock, he manages out a “You—look—wow—even better in person,” and you grin.
“Not too bad yourself, Lang. It suits you,” you say, before chuckling. “Now it’s my turn to make a bad pun.”
Scott manages to quirk one side of his mouth up before Cap’s voice breaks him out of his daze—time to fight.
Punching and ducking and flipping, you manage to land quite a few hits for your team. You’re getting good feedback over the comms, and you continue to fight, maneuvering around the opposing Avengers fluidly. As focused as you are on fighting, you can’t help but notice how innovative and successful Scott’s tactics are. Plus, his commentary makes you chuckle more times than you’d care to admit. One time, he’d even used your shoulder for a running jump, and feeling his tiny feet as they pounded across you was definitely an interesting experience.
There comes a point in the fight where your team needs a little momentum, and Scott offers his help without hesitating.
“I got something kind of big, but I can’t hold it for long. On my signal, run like hell. If I tear myself in half—don’t come back for me,” he says.
“He’s gonna tear himself in half?” Bucky asks.
“You’re sure about this, Scott?” Steve adds.
“Scott, that doesn’t seem reasonable,” you say, trying to conceal some of the overpowering worry in your voice. “You could really get hurt.”
From your hiding place, you can see Scott look right in your direction. “I do it all the time,” he says. “Well, once—in a lab. Then I passed out.” You shake your head at him: this doesn’t sound at all good.
“Scott!” you cry, but he’s already running, repeating “I’m the boss, I’m the boss,” in an apparent attempt to psych himself up. He jumps, landing on Rhodey’s back. In a split second, he’s the size of a building, towering over the airfield.
“Oh my god,” you murmur, staring up at him. Your attention is soon captured by Steve’s hand on your arm.
“We gotta get out of here!” He yells over the noise of the fight.
“We can’t leave Scott!” you scream back, but Steve is already dragging you toward the exit. “Hey, are you hearing me?”
“He’ll be fine!” Steve says, gripping your arm tighter. “He’s smart; he’ll figure it out!” You hear the shot of Tony’s machine heading for the two of you and duck under a car, using the opportunity to pull free of Steve’s hand. Ignoring his calls after you, you break into a run, heading back to where Scott is being tangled up by the spider-kid.
“Scott, c’mon!” you shout through the comm. “Everyone’s safe except for the two of us!”
“Y’know, I’d really like to, but this kid’s got me all tangled up,” Scott yells back. “This stuff is really sti—woah!” His giant form begins to topple, and you run instinctively, jumping and landing a hard hit on the teen—Peter, you thought.
“Sorry, kid,” you say. No hard feelings.” You turn your focus to Scott, who’s about to hit the ground. You can only pray he’s able to size down before he wrecks the whole place—and, very possibly, himself.
At the last possible moment, he shrinks to his normal height, hitting the ground with a thud that makes you wince. Without even thinking, you run to him and kneel down.
“Does anyone have any orange slices?” he quips, and in your utter relief, you wrap him in a tight hug. You notice that even after having fought, he smelled really, really good.
“Ow,” he muttered, and you pulled away.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry! I totally forgot—“ you stammered. “Did I hurt you at all?”
“No, no, it’s all good,” he said, falling back onto the ground. “It—felt really nice. I mean, yeah, you were pressing against some scrapes and all, but you, uh, well—it was—very nice.”
You sigh in relief before remembering that the two of you were very much in the middle of a battle zone. “We gotta get out of here,” you say. “Are you good to stand?”
“Probably,” Scott says, wincing. “Although I might need some help.”
“Get up here,” you say, standing and reaching a hand out to him. He manages to get upright, but limps a bit and seems generally stiff. You offer an arm to support him as the two of you run, definitely not paying attention to the defined muscles stretching under your hand. The two of you manage to make it to the quinjet, sprinting inside to safety as you dodge blasts from Tony and Rhodey’s suits.
✖️✖️✖️
An hour later, you’re sitting in the quinjet, dabbing some hydrogen peroxide on a cut on Scott’s cheek. You frown as you reach a particularly stubborn spot, shifting so that you draw closer to him, legs further intertwining with his. As you move the cotton gently towards his hairline, your eyes are drawn to his. You’re surprised to find that he’s gazing at you, expression soft and half-lidded in admiration. When he notices you look back, he gives you a shy smile, eyes crinkling up adorably.
“Thanks for helping me back there,” he whispers.
“You’re more than welcome. I couldn’t just leave you there. I was worried.”
“Wow, you—really? About lil ol’ me?”
You hum in affirmation, feeling your heart soar strangely in your throat as you take in the man in front of you. Leaning forward, you press a gentle kiss to his uninjured cheek and get the pleasure of seeing a rosy blush spread all the way down his neck. You reposition yourself so that you’re sitting next to him, placing your head on his shoulder a second time.
And when his hand finds yours, hesitant, searching, you can’t bring yourself to care about anything else.
✖️✖️✖️
You knock on the door, readjusting your dark glasses and ballcap as you wait for Scott to answer. Even though what you’re doing is probably illegal, you know how Scott values connection despite his awkwardness. You’ve taken the liberty of visiting him, bringing him snacks and little gifts and games you’d think he’d enjoy—and, hopefully, best of all—yourself.
You hear his footsteps nearing the door, crashing into something on the way followed by a subdued curse of pain. He’s still grimacing when your eyes meet his, but the expression quickly morphs into one of disbelief.
“W—what are you doing here!” he exclaims, looking equally floored and excited at your presence.
“Thought you might be a little lonely, so I thought I’d help,” you say, lifting up the bag of gifts and food.
“Well—wow—uh—please, come in.”
As you step inside, Scott whirls around the room, adjusting small objects and not-so-small messes as he does do. “Gosh, I’m so sorry, I didn’t know anyone was coming. Especially you! I mean, I would have, y’know, actually cleaned up if I’d known—“ He looks at you sheepishly, but you just smile.
“I think it’s perfect, Scott. Now what say we have a look at what I broughtcha, huh?”
He rummages through the bag with the eagerness of a child, and you watch him affectionately exclaim at each new thing he finds. When he reaches the last object, he looks up at you in complete awe.
“Thank you! I—uh—I don’t know what to say,” he says.
“Hey, it’s my pleasure,” you say, beaming at him.
“Um—do you, uh, have anywhere else to go today?” Scott asks, not meeting your eyes.
“Hmm—not that I can think of,” you reply, grinning.
“Would you like to—well, y’know—hang out some? We can try to make a dent in all this food,” he says, voice adorably unsure and excited all at once.
“I’d love that,” you say.
Later that night, he somehow works up the courage to kiss you on the couch while you watch a movie. It’s soft, reverent almost, and he places his forehead on yours afterwards, eyes closed in bliss, awestruck breath coming in the form of a barely-there giggle.
“You’re amazing,” he says, and you assure him you feel the same with another series of short, soft kisses.

To My Dearest Kara
Summary:
When she arrived, she was the only person who was currently there, or so she thinks. She was walking towards her cubicle when she saw a piece of paper that was neatly folded. Kara felt that it was important so she picked it up and caught a glimpse of her name inside the paper. Much to her curiosity and reporter instincts kicking in, she opened the letter and that's when where she read and re-read the letter, feeling her heart beating fast and warmth was spreading to her chest.
OR
Kara found an unfinished letter that was dedicated to her. The question that was bugging her was, from whom?
Chapter 1: The Letter
To my dearest Kara,
I have so much to say actually, but I guess I'll just keep this short and go straight to the point. I just want to say thank you for being such a good friend and for everything you've done for me. You are the most extraordinary person that I've ever met and meeting you is probably the best thing that's ever happened to me. And I just want to let you know that I'm hopelessly in love with you. I don't expect my feelings to be reciprocated so don't pressure yourself. I just merely want to get this out of my chest before it overwhelms me. You're the only one wh
Kara flipped the letter to the front and back. "Wha- This... This isn't finished!" She continued flipping it in every angle, hoping that there's a continuation somewhere only to find nothing of the sort. "Oh, come on. Really?"
That morning, Kara decided to be early at CatCo. "Wouldn't hurt to be an early bird once in a while." She muttered to herself. As soon as she was done fixing herself, she headed straight to the company.
Fishing her phone out of her pocket, she speed dialed the first person in her mind and was answered after a couple of rings.
"This better be good, Kara. I'm in the middle of something here." The person on the other line grumbled.
"Hey, Alex... You don't happen to have a forensic team, right?" Kara asked.
There was a moment of silence before Alex spoke. "Why? Did something happen? Are you hurt?"
"What? No! No, I'm perfectly fine." Kara reassured her sister.
"You're aware what the forensic team is for... right?" Alex doesn't sound convinced at Kara's reassurance.
"Maybe?" Kara slowly said.
Alex sighed. "Really, Kara? Anyway, what is it? Why did you call?"
"I got a letter." Kara answered.
"Huh... Good for you."
"A love letter, actually."
"O...kay?"
"The problem is, it isn't finished... yet. I just sort of found it on the floor just this morning here at CatCo."
"You're at work early?" Disbelief was evident in Alex's voice. "Who are you and what have you done to my sister?"
Kara frowned. "Ha ha. Very funny, Alex."
"So, let me get this straight." Kara heard Alex snort and muttered 'straight'. "You got an unfinished love letter..." She trailed off.
Kara nodded and kicked herself internally as she realized that her sister can't see her. "Yeah."
"And you want me to help you find out who wrote that?" Alex continued.
"Pretty much, yeah."
"Can't you just ask your colleagues?" Alex asked. "Especially the ones whom you're close to, like Winn or James or Snapper-"
Kara grimaced. "Alex!"
"... or Lena."
"Wait- what? Lena?" Kara was laughing nervously and she could feel the heat rising up her face. "Pfftt. Noooo. No way."
"I believe I mentioned four names."
"I mean, James and Winn could be possible. Snapper? Oh, hell to the no, that's for sure. But, Lena? Isn't that quite impossible?"
Don't ask me." Alex said, clearly amused. "You're the one who's spending time with her and you're the closest to her."
"Oh, no- Uhm... She... she doesn't see me like that, Alex." Kara tried to hide her disappointment. "Not that I see her like that, as well. I mean, I do like her but not like like her. We're just-"
"Friends. Sure." Alex interjected, cutting her sister's rambling. "Anyway, just ask them. Asking won't hurt, you know."
Kara rolled her eyes and huffed in exasperation. "Yeah, right. You think they'll admit it just like that? Like, hey Kara. Yes, I wrote taht letter. I'm in love with you."
"Fair point." Alex uttered. "Did you just roll your eyes at me?"
"Umm... No?" Kara lied, silently chastising herself for being so bad at it. She is such a bad liar.
"Are you telling me or asking me?" Alex asked. "'Cause I swear, I felt you rolling your eyes at me."
"You- What- You're creepy."
"I try."
Groaning, Kara leaned her head on her desk. "Alex, what am I gonna do?"
"How important is that letter?" Alex asked again.
"Very important." Kara answered without hesitation. "I don't know. It just made me feel... special? Not to mention loved... in a romantic way, I mean."
"I see." Alex was silent for a moment again that Kara had to look at her phone just to be sure that she's still on the line. "One more question.
"Fire away."
"Is the letter handwritten?"
This made Kara look at the letter again. "Uhh... Yes?"
"Then you probably know what to do." Alex said with a hint of satisfaction in her voice.
**
After a week long of hunting for the letter's author, Kara still found nothing. She's been checking everywhere and everyone. Even Winn. Well, everyone except James... and Lena.
Speaking of, she grabbed her phone and texted Lena.
Kara: Hey, Lee? Wanna grab lunch?
Drumming her fingers on her desk, she waited patiently for Lena's reply even though she wasn't sure if Lena was going to reply or not. It was already a week since she started hunting and it has also been a week that she hasn't seen Lena.
Kara was staring at her phone and after a few more minutes without any reply from Lena, she fired another quick text.
Kara: I miss you already, Lee. Call me or text me or anything when you're free. x
A few more agonizing minutes, her phone pinged and saw the name that she has been pining for from the past half an hour.
Lena: Sorry, love. Can't do lunch. I'm quite busy at the moment. Rain check?
Kara couldn't help the disappointment that she was feeling but she also can't help feeling giddy from Lena's endearment. It's normal to feel like this towards her best friend... right?
'Right. Who am I kidding?' She thought to herself.
Her phone pinged again and Kara swore her heart jumped as she read the message just like how her heart jumped when she was reading the letter.
Lena: I miss you, too. x
"Call me crazy, but I'm really starting to wish that Lena was the one that wrote this goddamn letter." She uttered to nobody and sighed. 'I'm falling for her, aren't I?'
**
A couple more days of snooping around (and having Snapper yap at her regarding to an article about God knows what), Kara found herself standing outside James' office.
“It's now or never." She murmured as she closed her eyes and raised her hand to knock on the door only to find her knuckle in contact with a forehead... Lena's forehead.
Kara's eyes widened in horror. "Oh, shoot! Lena, I'm so, so, sorry!"
"It's fine, Kara." Lena said while rubbing her forehead, thinking that apparently, opening the door abruptly isn't a good idea.
As much as Kara wanted to think about how much she missed her best friend's voice and presence, there is still something that currently matters the most. "Did it hurt? Of course, it hurt. Stupid me. I'm really sorry." Kara started rambling. "Oh my goodness. I should've been more careful."
Lena shook her head. "Kara."
"Should I grab some ice? We have ice here. Or maybe give you a massage? At the forehead, of course. Is there a forehead massage?"
"Kara."
"Maybe there's a forehead massage. Yeah. That's right. There has to be. There are lots of massages! Should I kiss it? Kisses makes anything feel better, right? Maybe I-" She stopped in the middle of her rambling as soon as she realized what she had just said.
Lena was almost as shocked as her. "What?"
"W-wha- what?"
Both women stood still, staring at each other, both shocked to even formulate words and not noticing James leaning on his desk, watching them both with amusement.
"Kara, I-"
"Lena, I-"
They both said at the same time and was followed by an awkward silence. Not wanting for the awkwardness to linger, Lena cleared her throat. "You can go first."
Shaking her head, Kara protested. "No, you can go first."
"Kara, please."
"But, Lena..." Kara whined.
James cleared his throat, causing both women to look at him. It was obvious that they had forgotten that he was still in the room. It was his office, after all, but he paid no mind to it. "As entertaining as this is, I believe you wanted something from me, Kara?"
Much to her disdain, not that she doesn't like James, Kara nodded. "Right... I did."
"I should go. I still have a lot to do at L-Corp. James. Kara." Lena uttered and was about to leave when Kara held her wrist. Kara made sure that it wasn't tight, but made sure that it was firm.
"Dinner. Tonight."
"Kara, you know I can't."
"You're always turning me down lately." Kara looked like a kicked puppy, looking at Lena with her big blue eyes and with a pout that no one can resist. Not even Alex. "I really do miss you, Lee..."
Lena's brows furrowed and Kara saw that she was contemplating whether to decline or upset. Hopefully, the latter.
"Look, it's not that I turn you down on purpose. I'm sorry for that." Lena started. "Its just that I really can't go out as of now."
Kara sensed that there was a but so she waited for Lena to continue and she did. "But, it would be nice if you bring Chinese later in my office, if that's okay with you. Maybe I could use a quick break."
Kara slowly grinned. "More than okay and totally fine with me. See you at 7?"
"7 it is, then." Lena kissed Kara's cheek. "See you later." With that said, Lena left her and James and went on her way.
Kara nodded even after Lena left and was absentmindedly stroking her cheek where Lena's lips landed just a few seconds, or maybe it was already minutes, ago.
"Hey. Earth to Kara."
Like snapping out of trance, Kara's attention was focused on James. "Sorry, what were you saying?"
James chuckled. "I asked if you were okay. You seem to be okay, apart from you looking like a tomato."
She was about to deny it, but she knew better not to. "That obvious?"
James smiled and nodded. "And as clear as a crystal. By the way, you came here. Why?"
"Right. Umm... You're the one who's writing on your planner, right?" Kara asked right away.
Yeah, I do." He answered.
"Can I-" Kara hesitated for awhile before steeling her resolve. "Can I see it?"
"Sure." James grabbed something just like a book, which Kara presumed that it was his planner, and offered it to Kara.
Mumbling a small thanks, she turned her attention on the planner and opened it. She froze as she looked- no, stared- at the neat penmanship that was scribbled on the planner which was identical to the penmanship of the letter's author. "Th-this..." Kara gulped.
"That's what?" James asked. concern lacing on his voice.
There has to be a mistake. "No..." She whispered under her breath. "This can't be."
James placed a hand on her shoulder. "Are you really okay, Kara?"
Her eyes shifted its focus, from the planner to James. "You wrote the letter?"
"You mean the unfinished letter."
"So, you did..." Kara was trying really hard to show a cheerful persona. "You did write the letter."
"That, I did." James confirmed.
"Oh... That's..." Kara swallowed the lump on her throat. "That's great!"
"You don't sound like you're genuinely happy."
"No! I am. I really am."
"Were you expecting someone else?"
"Well... I really don't know who or what to expect." Kara admitted. "It's not like I knew or had any idea who wrote it."
"But there is someone on your mind, isn't there?" James pried. "Or you're secretly hoping for a certain someone, aren't you?"
"What? Nooo..." Kara lied- denied, waving her hand dismissively. "Pshh. Who would that someone be anyway?"
"You're a bad liar, Kara." James called her out.
Kara knew that. She's not really the type of person who can lie to others face to face especially in front of her friends. "Okay, fine. I was hoping someone else. No offense."
"None taken. Mind if I ask who?"
Sighing, Kara looked down and played with the hem of her sweatshirt. "You might probably have an idea who."
James nodded. "I do, but I just want to be sure."
"It's..." Kara gulped. "I was hoping that it was Lena."
James was silent for a moment before he sighed. Kara took it as a disappointment from him. He wrote the letter and poured out his emotions for her but here she is. Sort of complaining that she was hoping for someone else and not him. She felt so ungrateful. "Look, James. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound ungrateful. I am touched, really. It's just that I-"
"You know what... Let's just cut the shit here, Kara." James cut her off.
Kara was now staring at James with wide eyes, unable to formulate words. She was shocked at hearing James cuss.
"Don't get me wrong. I'm not mad at you or anything." James reassured her. "Let me just say to hell with Lena killing me for this, but I don't want the two of you pining for each other with neither of you two making the first step."
Now, Kara was really confused. "What are you trying to say?"
"That planner..." James pointed at the planner that Kara was currently holding. "... isn't really mine."
"What do you mean not yours?"
"Kara, would you actually believe that that's my penmanship?" James asked incredulously.
"Yes?"
James shook his head. "It's too feminine to be mine."
"Feminine?" She tilted her head making James think of her like she was a golden retriever puppy. "I think it's just neat."
"Yes, it is neat but it also has a feminine touch." He pointed out.
"But, there are lots of guys who have these kind of penmanship. Some guys even have nicer penmanship than women." Kara justified. "That's why I'm calling it neat and not feminine."
James somewhat groaned in frustration towards the blonde. "My point is, that planner isn't mine and I didn't write the letter."
Kara realized what James is trying to tell her. "So, what you're saying is, a woman wrote the letter?"
"Been trying to tell you that for a few minutes now."
"Why?" Kara asked.
"Why what?" James asked back.
"Why lie in the first place?" Kara asked again. This time, she was frowning.
"Because Lena asked me to." He answered.
"Lena? As in, Lena Luthor?"
"Are there other Lena that you know?"
"Lena del Rey?"
"Kara, I'm pretty sure that it's Lana. Not Lena."
Kara huffed. "Now isn't the time to be sarcastic with me, Olsen."
James shrugged. "You started it."
"We're going way off topic now." Kara grumbled. "Anyway, what does Lena have to do with this?"
"The day you found the letter," James started to explain. "Lena found out that you had it and rushed in here, panicking-"
"Wait! Lena was here that day?" Kara interjected.
"Yes, she was, now let me finish." Kara pursed her lips and nodded, letting James continue. "She told me that the letter you currently have wasn't ready, yet."
"Clearly." Kara mumbled.
"What did I say about letting me finish?"
"Right." Kara smiled sheepishly. "Sorry. Won't happen again. Continue."
He looked at Kara skeptically before continuing. "She doesn't want you to know. Said she wasn't ready, yet, and she was afraid that if you found out that she was the one who wrote the letter, it will affect your relationship with her. Probably she was taking it in a bad way. Which is quite ridiculous if you ask me."
Kara was about to ask why but decided to just bite her tongue and let James continue. "Anyway, she came here and asked for my help. She knew that you will be snooping around and won't stop until you found who wrote the letter. She left her planner here and told me to give this to you saying that it's mine whenever you decided to show up here and ask me about it. She said that eventually you'll come here and she was right."
Kara was deep in thoughts. She was asking herself why would Lena think like that? It's not like she would just leave her because of a heartwarming letter. Okay, heartwarming to her and she's aware that Lena was oblivious to what she was feeling towards the said letter... or ever towards Lena, herself.
"Lena's in love with me..." Kara uttered quietly but enough for James to hear.
"I thought that was already obvious?" James walked back to his chair and sat down. "What with her opening up more to you than she did to others, both of you exchanging sweet words and being extra touchy and all to each other."
Kara's brow furrowed. "That's what friends do, right?"
James chuckled. "You're friends with Maggie but you don't exchange 'I love you's as often as you do with Lena and no, Alex doesn't count. It's understandable 'cause she's your sister. Lena only lets you get all touchy and clingy with her and you're only like that towards Lena. Heck, even us are friends but we don't do any of those." Offering a smile, he continued. "Admit it. You've already fallen for her before you have even realized it."
Realization dawned upon her making her gasp. "Holy cow. You're right. Oh my God. I thought I was just falling for her but now that I think about it... All that jealousy I felt when she told me about her ex, the urge to protect her from anything and everything, or the way my stomach was like having butterflies when she's laughing or smiling. It all makes sense now."
Still smiling, James looked at her and said, "Go get your girl."
Kara grinned. "You bet I will."
She dashed out of James' office feeling giddy and excited, but stopped at the doorway to turn around. "Oh, and James?"
"Yes, Kara?"
"Thank you." She beamed at him before completely stepping out of his office, feeling confident that everything will be going well.

Animal Crossing: New Perspective
Chapter 4
Morning brought knocking on your fabric door, rousing you from a wonderful dream about catching butterflies. Slinking out of the tent with a horrible case of bedhead, you glared wearily at the figure. Tom Nook stood before you, looking quite amused with your current state of being. “Tom,” you yawned, “Someone better be dying since you thought it was such a wonderful idea to wake me up.” Nook chuckled at you, tail swishing calmly back and forth. “I do apologize, but I have a matter in which I would love your assistance. If you don’t mind, that is.” You stared at him, brain still cranking along at half speed. “Well, come in then.” You turned and waved him into your tent.
Back in this blissfully darker interior of the tent, you flopped back onto your tent with a grunt. Nook took a seat in a folding chair as you wrapped yourself back up in a blanket burrito. “So what can I help you with, Tom?” you asked, combing your hair through your fingers. “Ah, yes,” Nook straightens up. “Thanks to all of the materials you and the children collected the other day, Timmy and Tommy have decided to open up their own shop! Therefore, as Resident Representative, it falls to you to decide where to have it built.”
“Oh, well that shouldn’t be too much of a problem.” You emerged from your blanket cocoon, a little more ready to face the day at that point. “From the look on your face though, there must be something else to this.”
Nook smiled sheepishly. “I admit, as knowledgeable about construction as I might be, the mechanical resources for such are in a bit of short supply. As such, it falls to our own hands to build such things for now. In time, we will have such resources, but not now. Ah, I’m rambling. What I mean to say is, I would like your assistance in building it as well.”
That surprised you. “I’d love to Tom, but I don’t exactly know how construction works.”
“Oh, but with my assistance, there is no doubt in my mind that we will finish the job perfectly.”
‘Well, If you insist,” you giggle. “I suppose that means I have to get ready for the day.” You stretch, but in doing so, your shirt rides up, showing off your midriff. Nook’s gaze was immediately trained on the strip of skin, and blushes hotly under his fur. His tail swishes once, and you look up, locking eyes with him.
“I ah, should leave you to it then…” Nook says, but makes no move to get up from the chair. Seeing the dark gaze in his eyes causes you to blush as well. The relationship between you two was unnamed and tentative, but the playful part of you wants to see just how far you could push things. You stood from your cot and bent over to rummage through your bag, taking just a little longer than necessary. You could feel Nook’s gaze almost piercing through you. You straightened up and fiddled with the buttons of your sleep shirt. Nerves cause your fingers to shake, but you proceed in unbuttoning it all the way. Your gazes lock together again as you slip the shirt off your shoulders and toss it in the corner. Nook’s tail twitches as he leans forward in his seat, pupils blown wide. Your shorts soon join your shirt in the corner. Nook’s eyes rake up and down your body, blush still raging on his face as well as yours. “Far be it from me to complain,” Nook gulps, “But did I happen to do something to deserve such a show?”
You shrugged, not trusting your voice to speak without squeaking. Tom stood from his chair and walked steadily over to you. The cramped interior of the tent made it a short walk, but one that still felt like it took ages. His arms encircled you, fur rubbing against bare arms with a delicious friction. His nose nuzzled into your hair, sniffing deeply as if he was trying to commit your scent to memory. His hands wandered your body, marveling in your soft skin. You shivered slightly; physical contact was something you had been missing for a long time. You didn’t realize how much you missed it. “Tom,” you gasped; his tail lashed, and he pushed you back towards your cot. Knees hitting the edge, your legs buckled, and you fell dragging Tom with you. Your lips connect, and the kiss you share is heavy and lingering.
Everything outside the tent fell away, and the only thing you could focus on was the delicious feeling of Tom pressed against you, kissing you, touching you. His hands slide further down your body to your waist, and your hips jerk at the light touches. Your hips brush against the waistline of his pants and he pulls away from the kiss to gasp out a moan. Your eyes trail down to see a sizable tent in Tom’s pants. He certainly wasn’t lacking in that department, and to say that you were excited was an understatement. A thought entered your mind and you smirked. Noticing this, Tom pulled back from the kiss, a strand of saliva still connecting your lips. “What is that look for?” he asked.
You hook your leg around him and twist, forcing his body down to sit on the cot instead, and you settled on his lap. He grunted in surprise, but his hands automatically went to your waist to hold you securely. You ground your hips into his, the new position allowing you free reign in controlling your movements. “Fuck, you’re perfect,” Tom groans out as you thread your fingers through his fur. His erection presses against your stomach through his pants and God do you want it inside you. Almost shyly, you reach down and unzip his pants, reaching in and stroking Tom’s cock. He hisses at the contact, his bucking into your warm hand. Soft moans fall from his mouth as you stroke him, eventually pulling his cock fully out of his pants. His hands grip your ass tightly, and his fingers dip below the waistline to pull down your underwear. “Ah shit, Tom wait.” You say, and he pulls back immediately. “What, are you alright?” He asks, searching your face for any sign of discomfort. “No, I’m fine, it just that I don’t have any lube or condoms with me.” Tom curses under his breath. Seeing disappointment on his face, but still feeling his obvious hardness in your hand, you start stroking his cock again.
His head falls to the crook of your shoulder and you can feel his breath coming out in hot pants. Curses spill from his lips and his tail swishes against the blankets. You whisper sweet nothings in his ear as you hold him, hands still pleasuring him. “Please,” he groans, “I’m so close, please.” You speed up your hand and he cums with a low groan, spilling his seed all over your hand.
A comfortable silence stretches between you two as you go through the motions of cleaning up and getting redressed. As you straighten from putting your shoes on, Tom pulls you into another kiss, a sweet, chaste one this time. He pulls back and rests his forehead on yours, gazing into your eyes. “It may be a bit late of me to ask this,” he chuckles softly, “but would you perhaps consider becoming mine?”
You grin and wrap your arms around him. “I would love nothing more.”
