I have a lot of fondness for clunky Hallmark Christmas romance movies with rock bottom production values, vaguely established and extremely contrived plots, dodgy dialgoue, often questionable line readings, and child actors playing a kid who seems either three years younger or older than themselves. Hallmark have not undermined themselves with glib, self aware irony or attempted to "elevate" the delightful low artform that they excel in. Refreshing, honestly.

#netflix could never #they are incapable of that level of earnest storytelling #for this specific kind of story at least #because they think they're better than it #hallmark knows that none of us are too good for a movie about an autistic marine biologist #who thinks her best friend's brother ghosted her after they hit it off at the friend/sister's wedding #and *tells him* that repeatedly to his face instead of not addressing it #and he's like 'I definitely replied ot your email! you ghosted me! but let's let bygones be bygones. It's The Holidays' for the whole movie #and the resolution is that it got saved in his drafts #amazing #what other studios are delivering this level of banal miscommunication #what other movies have b-plots about learning how to be good at talking to interns as well as seals?#where little kids read poems they wrote at a christmas parties that sound *exactly* like a little kid wrote them?#and not in the 'kids who haven't internalised cliche yet can write some beautiful lines' way #mystic christmas: would recommend to a friend #there are no supernatural elements btw #that's the name of the town #which literally could have been named anything because it doesn't seem to be important to the plot at all #and no one makes any plays on 'mystic' that relate to its literal meaning

As Always i am dealing w bullshit behavior from ppl who make 6x what i earn

#pathologist prepped a breast specimen 'wrong' i.e. she used random ink colors for random margins that arent our usual #didnt wrote down anywhere what the fucking colors correspond to #my supervisor asks her coworker (bc shes on vacation) for aid and the coworker just goes 'lmao idk i didnt do that'#we email the pathologist and she emails back ''assign it to [coworker] theyll figure it out''#???? no i dont think they will #like go girl give me nothing #this case was luckily benign. but it cannot be understated how bad this could be if this keeps occurring on cancer specimens

i love my professor who is a medievalist and thus speaks how one might expect a medievalist would. we should all throw a Most Excellent in our emails more often.

#he's very helpful and invested in my personal wellbeing lol #as in he wrote the recommendation letter for my exchange semester and also for this application i'm doing now n wants to know updates on it #and he's never annoyed or short with me when i email him back asking for help w anything #versus other professor i asked for a recommendation letter who im sorry. kind of really sucks #i feel like im one mistake away from her freaking out on me at all times #i told her i need a physical recommendation letter redone as well as a digital version #but she only sent me the digital version so far in past few weeks so #i fear ill have to email her again and ask again. but like i Told her so it's not like it's my fault. she just did not see it or forgot #again not my fault #but yea she's the kind of person who if you ask two questions in an email she will only answer one of them #also gave no effort into my rec letter. she had it done 20 minutes after i emailed her about it and she spelled the word 'there' wrong #reminder that she's an english professor #anyways...

my head is covered in blue gunk that they used for all the wires & electrodes to do the sleep deprived EEG this morning and i both look and feel like i walked straight outta professor hidgens lab

I am still seething over the premier's speech on wednesday and worried about what's going to happen to kids in this province when these policies start rolling out, but going to the protest downtown today and being surrounded by a couple thousand people shouting "protect trans kids" and hearing my mayor say "we hear you; we support you; we will fight for you" and having coffee with queer friends afterwards and talking about pets, and seeing that other family friends that I didn't know would be there had come out to protest made me feel less shit about the world.

found my ancient mp3 player recently. finally found a charger for it and plugged it in. and remembered i found a yt playlist of the whole httyd movie chopped up into like 20 videos and i downloaded the mp3s of all of them to listen to on the school bus. which is why i can effortlessly quote the whole first movie now

EGG.)#(like legit the second she got isekaid she cut her hair super short and changed her name-)#also sara canonically had the ability to absorb others' souls when they died and then shapeshift into them majoras mask style #(<- EGG CARTON. EGG CA #sara was dating jack frost bc of fucking course she was. also she had fire magic #Rosa was with Hiccup #and then we had another fic with Kate and Billie who were sisters #years after me and the irl friend stopped talking and i reworked the characters into their own original stories #Billie ended up in a lesbian relationship with a girl named Raven #and they ended up finding Billie's long lost infant sister and raising her like their own kid almost #also i say i wrote RoTBTG fanfic but honestly. i did not care much for tangled back then #i included Rapunzel because i didn't want to seem petty like i was just cutting out the girl i didn't like #bc i did like her just not enough to write her #but she never like. Did Anything #if anything she was usually stuck talking about politics with Stoick and meridas parents and couldn't adventure much #such is the life of a royal i reasoned . so i do not have to have her there and be bored by her #usually i replaced her in the quartet with fucking Melody from little mermaid 2 bc i was unreasonably obsessed with that since childhood #i watched little mermaid 2 before the actual first film because we owned the vhs and i was SO obsessed with melody i LOVED her #i also wanted to become a mermaid and loved singing #so i just. found ways to shoehorn her in #i do not remember everything that i posted and everything that stayed in the vault #bc when me and that irl stopped talking we both deleted Everything in a fit of 14 year old rage and pettiness #I've long since deleted the quotev account- she actually kept using it for years and i let her cause i wasn't THAT petty #but it was under my email and since i noticed she seemed to have abandoned it and i needed to delete the email. it is now gone
