Edwin’s mouth is so nice, Charles thinks, for maybe not the first time but he’ll reflect on that bit later. His hand still curves along the back of Edwin’s neck, his fingertips brushing his hairline. His eyes fall, again, over Edwin’s mouth and he tries to reckon with the sudden, intense desire to press his thumb against the pillowy soft skin where Edwin’s lips are still parted and made puffy pink. By him, and—well—if that isn’t doing something to him. His eyes look up, and lock onto Edwin’s. He’s looking at Charles with something in his eye that he’s never seen before, but he might want to see again, if possible. Which is—a thought. A big thought, actually. Too much of a thought for right now.  A smaller thought occurs to him: kiss Edwin. Now that’s much easier for him to sort through; he very much would like to kiss Edwin again. To dip in and taste what exactly it is he’s left behind. “Uhhh,” says Crystal, from beside them. Right, so. Crystal’s here, too.

shoutout to jenny green for being one of the most underrated characters in the show despite being extremely well written and also dealing with a fuckload of trauma that needs unpacking

Painland Week Day 4 - Bound Together

The ritual required them to bind their hands with rope and recite the ancient incantation.

Hey, idk about you guys, but when working on a fibers art project, specially a big one, it's normal for people to stop working on it for months because it stopped being fun. And then months (or years) later they have rested and want to do it again! And it's fine that nothing gets done for months. There's nothing wrong with letting a project rest, literally every single fiber artist does it.

Writing and art is very similar. Even if you stop doing it at all during that break. Stop being so fucking hard on yourself for not creating 24/7, you are not a failure, you are not doing anything wrong and you are not wasting time. Now go drink some water, eat a meal and take a shower. And sleep.

every time i rewatch dead boy detectives, without fail, i am taken completely off guard with the re-discovery of how delightfully campy the show is

Edwin Paine was gone.

No body, no clues , just gone .

The families of the other "victims" mourned them, they cried silently at their empty graves.Their pictures sat in their families jewelry, their names were often mentioned in prayers and siblings put their names onto their own children.

Their classmates told censored anecdotes at their funerals , their eulogies filled with formal praise and love , the words "gone too soon" thrown around.

Their graves read "beloved son".

No one mourned Edwin Payne .

His family visited his empty grave exactly once and no tears were shed .

His face only remained in old family photos, and even those were slowly replaced for new ones without him , none of his siblings passed his name onto their children.

His classmates talked about him , nasty rumors filled with slurs, but they talked , and that was more than what his family ever gave him.

His grave read "Holy was your birth , Holy was your death".

But people rarely are completely forgotten, and long dead Edwin Payne became a cautionary tale.

His name didn't really stick and instead he was just "The Mary Anne ", The years would also forget that term and the story that had been once a human tragedy turned into a ghost story about a little girl.

rewatching the attic scene for reasons and seeing the Night Nurse smile at these two boys meeting, then immediately agree to let Charles go to Hell to save Edwin, arguably the biggest ally move in the season. when Niko decides to play matchmaker, Jenny ends up getting nearly murdered and a crow boy does get murdered, when the Night Nurse decides to captain a ship, we get a Hell rescue and one of the best love confessions ever. Night Nurse for #1 Ally

I’m reading The Deviants War: The Homosexual vs The United States of America and the entire point of gay pride as a concept comes from police raids on bars, clubs, public restrooms, etc where gays were humiliated and outed in the newspapers (sometimes with their addresses!) and had careers ruined and lives upended by being associated with perversion and vice squads and all that and they responded by going “no I’m proud” and took that pride to the streets in defiance of the huge mechanism of shame that existed to oppress the gay community into obscurity and so the fact that people are now trying to apply conservative dogma to pride parades to make them “safe for children” or in other words “safe for people with oppressive conservative values” is simply insane
