Y'know, when I was first getting into fnaf and watching playthroughs like half a year after the most recent game had come out, it didn't matter that the one I was watching play it took forever at it.

But now that I'm watching as the game came out, I'm just here like "please get through this game faster, I want to stop having to worry about spoilers sooner rather than later."

I know I've been on about this for a while now and I'm being a hater but you're telling me SydCarmy was "always meant to be platonic" even though there are two seasons of writing making use of tried-and-true explicitly romantic tropes, themes and writing signals, and SydLuca is going to be romantic because...he was nice to her on screen for a few minutes?

I don't even care if people ship SydLuca, or if they just prefer it, but you can't honestly tell me that you believe Carmy was always meant to be a friend but Luca is an obvious love interest.

Just because Syd and Carmy haven't kissed or confessed their love to each other doesn't mean that isn't very obviously the direction this show is going. The Bear has already shown you who is endgame. It has shown you every episode of the show so far.

Honestly I really don't think The Bear fanbase understands this show or cares about these characters or the story being told here, which is unfortunate because this show is shockingly well-written in comparison to most shows right now, and we should be so grateful for it but all we're doing is complaining that the writers led us on by not making a ship canon fast enough. It's just. Sad.

#The Bear #SydCarmy #I was like a casual fan of this show two days ago #and now seeing how little respect this show gets from it's fanbase I'm losing my mind #I mean I shipped SydCarmy before anyway but now it means so much to me #it means so much to see such a realistic and purposefully well paced romance take place #so many shows portray romantic relationships and their beginnings in ways that just don't really happen in real life #and this show very purposefully said no. These are characters who are strangers. who are working together. Who are in a tense environment #and each of them has problems - one of them the type of problems that makes developing new relationships pretty difficult #these two would not get together right away. It would take a long time. And there would be ups and downs.#And even when that's the case. Even if when it takes a long time and doesn't go smoothly and is hard -#it can still be beautiful. It can still be romantic. It can still happen and here's how #and I'm just so inspired genuinely. It is so difficult to write romance without being cliche and so difficult to write it in a way that #could actually happen in real life and I really do hope I can write something half as good some day #and then to know so many people have no appreciation for it at all #because they prefer the shows that have characters make eye contact a few times and then confess their love for each other like #it's just fucking sad. So sad that so few people have any appreciation for good writing especially the difficult of romance writing #like I really just don't even know what to tell you. In real life these two would not have confessed to each other yet. They would not have #kissed yet. They would not have even realized they have feelings for each other yet because those feelings would still be developing #and I also want to point out that given the disparity in power between Syd and Carmy in season 1 it wouldn't have been healthy for them to #get together much sooner. He was her boss. He was also her idol. Before they can even get together that needs to be balanced out.#And then on top of that don't you see the value in Carmy realizing the dream girl he's romanticized in his head - Claire - isn't actually #what he wants? Don't you see the beauty in him being disillusioned from that? And realizing that Syd is what he wants?#Don't you see the beauty in Syd having an idealized vision of what Carmy The Great Chef is like realizing she was wrong and that he's human #and flawed and then realizing - she loves him anyway? She loves him more for not being on a pedestal and for having his flaws?#Are you telling me that even thinking about this doesn't move you? Doesn't make your heart ache a little?#And again - ship and let ship - but what is Luca? What is Luca if not just what she was hoping Carmy would be when she wen to The Beef?#What is he if not just another man who she has not seen under pressure yet? Not seen reliving trauma yet? Not been her boss yet?#It's easy to look at him and think he's better than Carmy - and that's the point. That's the point The Bear is making.#It is easy to want someone you don't know. It's hard to want to someone you do know. But that's what love requires and that's the point

obviously Jamie not being in season 4 would suck mostly because I simply want Jamie to be there and to get more of his story and get to enjoy more interactions between Jamie and the other characters. At the end of the day though, I can just not watch s4, which I'm perfectly okay with.

what sucks EVEN MORE to me, and is far harder to avoid, is that not having Jamie in the show totally changes the *canon* of the character in a way that will inevitably bleed over into fan spaces, regardless of whether or not I'm actively watching. However they write him out (I assume it would just be having him go to another team) becomes the new "Jamie Tartt canon." And that small thing totally changes his story and we don't even get to see it play out! When i was perfectly happy playing in my sandbox of a million equally valid possibilities.

#the one thing about s3 that was truly great was that it gave us an ending so successfully ambiguous you could really imagine anything #we could take the story anywhere we wanted to take it!#like. I don't WANT all of my fics to become AUs simply because they needed an easy way to write a character out of the story #and i don't want my fandom space to be constantly clouded by his absence.#does that make sense?#like i really do fear it would make both seasons 1-3 and the fandom space substantially less fun for me #:(#it has little to do with not wanting jamie to ever go to another club even. because i do think that's a realistic option obvs.#it's just that like. in fic there's a million interesting ways to explore that! and it's just one of a whole bunch of possibilities!#he could do a lot at richmond before leaving. he could play elsewhere in the uk or internationally!#his relationships with different characters change in different ways depending on where he goes and what he does #and ultimately each of those playgrounds have different toys!#but on the show his path would be set in stone AND we wouldn't get to play with any of the toys on the playground. you know.#im willing to let go of more jamie tartt content but i don't want no more jamie content PLUS other content that changes his canon. ugh #ted lasso #jamie tartt

#not a vent just a journal entry (feel free to scroll past; there is no snz here and this is also not that interesting)#realizing now that i never thought of myself as #someone whose absence would register to others in any other way than just neutral/detached recognition?#phrasing this really badly and i am truly going to delete this later bc it is embarrassing LOL #i think when i was young and posting all this fic into questionable places (the f*rum) i was like #(@ an unfinished work of mine) no way anyone could be bothered by these cliffhangers 👍 they can just imagine the ending #even though i would frequently be bothered by other people's cliffhangers. that exact same principle just wouldn't apply to me in my head #and when i did not respond to people i was like.. i'm sure i wasn't really an important part of their lives so they won't mind it #if i stepped away?#i never really entertained the concept of people missing me or looking forward to my responses 😭 i never thought of myself as someone worth #missing... so when i disappeared it was always with little to no sense of guilt. i think even now i struggle with #seeing myself as someone that inhabits like a tangible enough space in other people's lives that my absence would be felt #(and i don't mean that in a morbid way. and i do recognize that it's quite hypocritical)#on the flipside of things i frequently miss people and look forward to their responses. and sometimes i wonder like #do they all know? do they all know that i miss them because they somehow understand this aspect of human nature better than i do?#or are they in the dark like i am? are these things assumed or are they only known when they are said... 😭#i am a little bit of a coward so i am not saying anything (also because can you even say this kind of thing to someone??#i would probably die of embarrassment) but #how strange it is to have someone suddenly inhabit a space in your life that is substantial enough that #when they're gone you feel that space open up and you miss them #the few times in my life people have conveyed that sentiment to me i remember feeling puzzled that my presence could have that kind of #weight to them. i think my problem is that i purposefully do not read between the lines if the conclusion is something favorable towards me #because i don't want to bank on something good that might or might not be true 😭 anyways this is way too long already. if you read this #then good morning or goodnight

see what gets me about provenance is that sam is really scared of pursuing a relationship with sarah and other girls because he's afraid they're going to die. sam is cursed, the people he loves will die bloody, he doesn't want that, so he's staying away from people.

but this curse, textually, from sam's own mouth, can affect his family too:

so this isn't just limited to his romantic endeavors. anyone who's close to him, including his family, might die if they stick around him.

so what about dean??? he fits the criteria, but sam is still hanging onto him like a monkey on a vine. and what does this say about sam?

in some ways, i think there's a sense of hero-worship at play, like sam truly believes that dean can handle whatever comes his way and he'll be safe. there's a sense of protectiveness from sam throughout season 1, but dean carries himself in a way that is reassuring to sam. when he tells sam that he'll protect him, sam believes him without question, even if he's still worried. sam believes, or wants to believe, in dean's bravado.

which is interesting considering the episode faith, where sam very well could have blamed himself for dean getting hurt and almost dying (and maybe he did, and that was why he was so desperate to save him, no matter the cost—dean saw it as his time coming, but sam saw it as an unnatural death brought on by his curse, perhaps, and so he was willing to go to unnatural lengths to prevent it).

in other ways though, the context of the season makes me feel like above anything else the reason is that sam can't do this without dean, and he's willing to take the risk (and therefore handle the consequences himself, do whatever he has to do to keep dean safe from him). even in a story where sam has to choose between opposing forces that can't coexist—his revenge or dean, he can only pick one—dean is woven into every fiber of his quest for revenge. the revenge can't be pursued without dean, and dean is the opposition to sam's revenge, so sam never really had a choice to begin with: he was always going to pick dean.

i just love that even sam's greatest fears exempt dean—he wants dean there with him so badly that his no-relationships rule doesn't apply to him (and the same goes for dean, too, what a coincidence), and he accepts whatever risk there might be because he can't do this without him. dean is the exception, dean is sam's big brother, dean is the one person he can't lose even when he believes he's putting dean in danger just by driving around with him.

and dean doesn't even know any of this. he doesn't have a clue about the extent of sam's love or what sam is willing to risk to be with him, because sam never told him.

#liveblogging: supernatural #spn1.19 #in some ways i want to say this isn't that deep and the evidence is somewhat conflicting so as to not lead to any particular conclusions #in other ways i want to say they wouldn't have confirmed sam blames himself for mary's death if it didn't mean something about dean #and in still other ways i want to say it IS that deep. even deeper actually and this REALLY means sam thinks dean is his girlfriend #so you know there are a lot of layers you can play with here #personally i'm partial to the girlfriend interpretation. but that's just me #spn1 #.txt #every morning i wake up and write an essay about supernatural. this is a very dangerous habit to get into #spn posting

I always found it slightly awkward how media makes siblings or people who see each other as siblings call each other brother/sister all the time as in real life you almost never see people do that with their own siblings (maybe someone out there like that)

In the case of Arkham Shadows I see why they did though because Bruce quite literally tells Harvey he loves him and Harvey says it back. Can't have the audience think Batman is in love with the DA.

They had Bruce pay for his college, pay for his campaign, pay for his surgery, pay for his therapy and had Harvey have him as his best man at his wedding. Wow..... Sugar baby Harvey is real.....

The calling sibling title thing is less common in English than in some other languages for sure- me and a couple of my siblings do it on occasion, but it's for a bit then. More common is when I call one of my close family friends "my sister" or "my nephew" when talking about them to someone else because it's faster and easier to say that than to say "my friend who I've known since she was born and lived with for a few years and consider a little sister" or "child of a close family friend who considers me an aunt" to someone who doesn't know them. Which is a lot of words to say that if they wanted to fully sell me on the brothers thing they should have either had a different bit or should have referred to the other as "my brother" when talking to an unrelated character instead.

But "oh no we have to make Bruce not look gay" has been a problem DC has struggled with more than once for many decades and it basically never works so I guess at least they didn't try to solve it this time by having Bruce pick a lady love over Harvey or cutting the holding hands thing

Because I saw that scrapbook! I know Harvey has been Bruce's sugar baby since he was ten years old! But we can't have Bruce take Harvey's hand and call him the love of his life because ok technically that's Gotham but also because gay. And we can't have Bruce take Harvey's hand and call him his best friend because they're not ten anymore and somehow that seems gay also. So brothers it is, I guess. Even if I think my brothers would bite my finger if I ever tried to pay for everything for them on that scale, guess it's different at billionaire levels

#I'm actually simultaneously a believer in grew up like brothers and absolutely down bad romantically #(and harvey as a representation of Gotham itself as a love)#like an election in two (three) positions at once #but the point remains- you can't really fully cover the care by slapping a brother label on it like dc tries to to avoid it being too gay ig #which is very funny because did you see all the bi Tim and Dick stuff in Gotham Knights- but Robin has always had more freedom than Batman #in the 'can we let anyone think he's anything other than totally straight' department #anyway now I'm thinking about how on earth-3 all the characters get a morality flip #but Two Face/Three Face is the only one i can think of who gets a gender flip as well #as if 'oh if we had just originally conceived of Dent as a woman it would have been better (morally) because then it wouldn't have ended up #looking so gay'#but no they did not explore that thread because apparently uh having love interests in the joker and riddler was more important #which you'd think should reflect back on standard issue harv eddy and clown but uh. not really no they don't want to admit it #and i suppose 'well no three face wouldn't have a thing for owlman because he's technically not a version of Bruce he's a version of b's #brother'#but like then again. if Harvey is his brother. then shouldn't something have been used there to connect it #in any way at all #but no #instead I'm left with many thoughts about Harvey as a brother as a lover as a personification of gotham and as a woman but #i am still very sleepy rn so i don't know how many of those thoughts are coherent #but all that to say #YEAH SUGAR BABY HARVEY #guess it wouldn't be comforting for Harvey to shakily ask what he is #and Bruce to answer 'you're my companion who i turn to for affection in and give you obscene amounts of money in turn'#but like. it also wouldn't have been incorrect.#... though 'sugar baby harv as part of the representation of Gotham itself' probably has something to it too #but i digress I'm sleepy #pocket talks to people #anon #* i meant 'electron' not 'election' in that earlier tag

People who also think the art is gorgeous!!! someone who thinks Juvia Erza & Lucy are cool outside of powerscaling!!#someone who gets that we're following the entire guild not just Lucy & Natsu & their team THEY GET IT!!!!#THEY UNDERSTOOD THAT GMG IS PEAK FT #& how FT really isnt about the fights even if its labeled as a battle shonen;;;#theres people who notice how FT is extremely but subtly different compared to other shonen and im sooo glad im not the only one #thats why its the only mainstream shonen i can get behind; it doesnt really have a reader insert (? Natsu wants to find Igneel & Lucy wants to grow stronger but the narrative never really dove deep into either of those esp Natsu #They never went on a journey to find igneel they never focused on Lucy's powers specifically getting stronger & her legitimacy of being a #Wizard; the wizard thing was already resolved by the time phantom lord arc was at its mid point i think & yes she grows stronger #but its not like shes been singled out as The Wizard that the audience has to root for #the entire damn team AND guild are more focused on whatever job / quest theyre pick out next & whatever threats currently happening #im pretty sure 100 years quest was the first & only time where it was turned into an actual 'Walk around the world go on an adventure' thing #Its really less about the world more about the characters and I think a lot of people keep forgetting that #like if it wanted to show you what creatures exist what plants there what the political climate of the country(/ies) are like #Mashima wouldn't have made the guild a PLACE they can return to. Physically.#He wouldnt have made it a place where everyone returns to before & after every quest; it wouldve wasted the time you could use to #roam around the world like cmon... the guild cant even walk like that tavern & pig from 7ds & its not like these people are in a highschool #or like forced to stay in FT yk. They could leave 👍 But they dont at least the main chars dont #but whatever sure the world buildings lacking okay.#nillas
