Anyway, why do I only tumbl about writing these days? Am I ever going to post any art anymore??
Long story short, I had an art career related burnout, and stopped enjoying making art almost completely. I always enjoyed writing though, and have never tried to make a living with it, so when drawing and painting no longer sparked joy, I went back to writing.
I do still draw every now and then, but yeah, it’s a maybe once a month thing instead of a once a day thing.
So yeah. It do be like that sometime!!
#i would like to make more dioramas too but that turned out to be very bad for my back#making a job out of a hobby you enjoy can work perfectly well!!#it just really did not work for me lmao#ofc my burnout was partly lit by constant money problems#so if you get a gig as an in house artist absolutely go for it#steady paycheck can do wonders for one’s outlook on life#my wage isn’t great by any means#but it’s enough for my spending and comes once a month like welcome period

[private please, if thats alright] i used to follow you for your ai stuff back in 2021/22 when things were first kicking off (actually i thought you'd quit because of all the scandal lol) and the models and output were a lot 'sloppier' and kinda illegible but as far as i can see the stuff you're working on now is clearer looking and more coherent, so i was wondering - do you have any thoughts on the 'aesthetics' of AI and what specifically brings it unique merits and strengths as an art tool? for example i personally find a lot of modern ai art to be boring and soulless looking because it has neither stylistic interest (compared to the blatant 'inhumanity' of older models) nor a human person making base-to-base decisions about what it looks like, but i also havent been really paying too much attention to the AI scene except when it comes up in images searches. also, sorry if its not a question you want to answer, but do you do any more traditional styles of art as well? i find my art sensibilities are really effected by the mediums i work with so i would love to know if you have any similar experiences wrt ai and non ai works. thank you!
this is a side account so i can't answer privately, but, that being said;
i actually agree! for general purpose arting i preferred the secret horses style of total illegibility, and my main goal in my secret projects is to be able to reorganize around that style but with sharper, crisper lines and higher resolutions. part of why the whole "secret horses" style of ai medium fell through the cracks was because a: diffusion models were significantly faster and b: diffusion models scale upwards significantly better - they can produce higher resolutions and perform upscaling, which CLIP + VQGAN (the old method that made all the jank we all used to love) can't really do.
i think people whose sole interest in ai is making shitty advertisement images, or giant anime boobs, or some other lowest common denomenator slop, like... okay. you do you, the saying is "90% of everything is shit" for a reason, but obviously i think that's incredibly boring. i think the reason we see a lot of it is because a: the Good Artists who use AI are still effectively social pariahs, particularly on twitter and tumblr, just via dint of their medium, and b: ai puts art making in the hands of EVERYONE and it turns out not everyone has good taste (see: 90% of everything is shit), so you just see a lot more shit by volume.
anyway in terms of "traditional art" i am an author (READ CHUM) and a bassist, although i haven't been in a band in many years as my arthritis prevents me from playing for very long or very well anymore. if you mean traditional art as in like... paint and easel, or pen and paper, the answer is no. i've never had the ability to comfortably grasp anything with my hands even before the arthritis happened and now i lack not only the fine motor skills for it but also the pain threshold. i do like legos though, and i'd love to start making lego dioramas.
thanks for asking :)

HS^2 bloggin’ mainline 2024-08-14 continued #2
(Previous post - current page 587)
We ain't STOPPIN WE AIN'T STOPPIN (well okay we are at the end of this post for a couple days)
==>
SO ANYWAY HERE THEY ARE IN THEIR MATCHING OUTFITS THEY'RE SO FUCKING CUTE AND THE SPIRAL ON CALLIE'S CHEEK ON HIS OUTFIT AND THE SPIRAL ON ROXY'S HAIR ON CALLIE'S OUTFIT THEY MATCH SO WELL AND THEY'RE A WONDERFUL COUPLE IT'S GREAT, WHAT ANDROGYNOUS SLASH GENDERFLUID SLASH TRANS ICONS YESSSSS
JADE: roxy, calliope, and is that kanaya? KANAYA: Calliope Roxy And Is That Jade
It's possibly been a bit since they've shared a proper Dream together without Feferi's earlier help having persuaded the Horrorterrors to set up a set of stable dream bubbles for them all to dream together in, but between Roxy's powers being able to knock people out and Calliope's powers of imaginary construction, a space like this in the Void for them to share asleep like this ends up being something they can do and it's sweet and wonderful. :D
==>
The image is nice and all but I'm mainly posting it for my own sanity as a confirmation that Calliope still has the Ring of Life on like we knew she would.
JADE: roxy ROXY: yo JADE: where... are we? ROXY: this is a special dream bubbie callie set up! JADE: i dont even remember falling asleep ROXY: yea i used callies special magic sleep dust on ya ROXY: sorry for conkin yall out also but callie said we had to do this tonight
Hm, something special about the here and now? Also I can buy that Calliope used special sleep dust, I think she's used that before to wake someone up FROM a dream (distantly recall?), but I still blame Roxy for being the vehicle this time due to her hero role.
KANAYA: I Thought The Dream Bubbles Had Been Destroyed CALLIOPE: i thoUght so too! CALLIOPE: the origin of these new bUbbles is Unclear, thoUgh it seems like they might actUally be emanating oUtwards from oUr destination, bUt i mUst admit i'm happy to see them back!
WHAT THE FUCK
OKAY THAT'S A BIG RED FLAG THAT THIS IS THE REBIRTH AND ORIGINAL CREATION OF THE HORRORTERRORS THANKS TO DIRK AND ROSE CREATING THE ORIGINAL SESSION THAT GAVE BIRTH TO ALL SUBSEQUENT BRANCHING UNIVERSES IN PARADOX SPACE. THE FRESHLY BORN HORRORTERRORS ARE CREATING BUBBLES AGAIN. ALL THAT'S LEFT IS FOR (god-tier?) KANAYA TO SEW UP THE BREACH IN PARADOX SPACE SO THAT THE BLACK HOLE IS LOCKED OUTSIDE OF IT FOR GOOD AND FREEDOM FROM CANON AND THE PLOT IS IN THE HANDS OF THE NEWLY STABILIZED TIMELINES OF FANDOM IN A NEW REALM OF PROMISE FREE FROM LORD ENGLISH'S INFLUENCE. Gosh I know it was all pretty obvious from the very start of Homestuck^2 but I'm still surprised to see confirmation SO QUICKLY LAID ON SO THICK
They're really doing this! They're making this hapen! The session to shape and begin all sessions!
==>
ROXY: ladies ;)
Smooth as always
Alright, what has Callie prepared for this dream and why is it not just for fun but also she's implying it's so important that it happens NOW???
Does this have to do with the activation of the Plot Point outside canon?!?
==>
Nothing?
KANAYA: Wow KANAYA: I Must Say That This Vast Expanse Of Nothingness Was Well Worth The Minute Inconvenience Of Being Majyyked To An Untimely Slumber KANAYA: Via A Substance That I Am Still Not Altogether Sure Isnt Actively Harmful To Biological Life CALLIOPE: a-hem. CALLIOPE: tUrn aroUnd!
I bet it's another stage
==>
WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING
What a daring dream.
==>
JADE: whoa ROXY: intense right JADE: so what exactly are we looking at here :o CALLIOPE: oUr Cosmic Canonical Correspondent. CALLIOPE: yoU coUld call it a visUal representation of oUr... CALLIOPE: well, oUr everything! KANAYA: Forgive My Ignorance But I Recall Our Universe Looking More Um KANAYA: Amphibian KANAYA: This Looks Vaguely Closer To The Door We Took To Claim The Ultimate Reward KANAYA: Albeit More Fucked CALLIOPE: this is trUe! bUt this diorama exemplifies something far grander than any single Universe.
Is it a "diorama" of Paradox Space, of the Alpha Timeline... or of their story? Of Homestuck itself? Or of the Game that creates sessions?
ROXY: i think it wasnt all crazy like this last time KANAYA: The Last Time KANAYA: Youve Been Here Before ROXY: yea it was like a million years ago by now but i came out here once on my way out a dream looking for my boo thang CALLIOPE: u///u ROXY: and it was more or less just a regular lookin block house back then CALLIOPE: i believe its cUrrent appearance is dUe to the work of oUtside inflUence
So is this the story Dirk is building, alt!Callie is building, or Calliope herself is possibly-unknowingly building, or all of it put together? The way it represents how HS^2 and the Epilogues built atop the original Homestuck would be a good reason it only looked like a block house when Roxy rescued Calliope back in the original story.
==>
I LOVE ROXY, HIS DETERMINED GRIN IS SO FUCKING ADORABLE.
JADE: you're saying he did this? CALLIOPE: i'm not entirely sUre! CALLIOPE: bUt yes, that is my cUrrent working theory. U_U CALLIOPE: i broUght yoU here together so we can discUss what is to be done aboUt this KANAYA: Is There A Reason You Neglected To Add Karkat And Dave To This Socratic Slumber Seminar CALLIOPE: while the knights will no doUbt prove invalUable in the impending conflict... when it comes to these erm... finer points of discUssion their chins do tend to wag... KANAYA: What ROXY: love em to death but they cant shut the fuck up CALLIOPE: in so many words.
Hahahahahah true.
CALLIOPE: oUr trUe goal with this endeavor has been rather vagUe these last few years and as oUr time on this ship begins to draw to a close i believe we shoUld start a serioUs dialogUe aboUt what we plan on doing once we toUch groUnd. ROXY: god i love seeing u boss up
We all do! <3333
KANAYA: I Understand That KANAYA: But Couldnt We Just Talk Normally KANAYA: Without All This Chloroform Ninja Shit JADE: it was a bit much! CALLIOPE: i apologize for my draconian methods bUt i needed to make sUre oUr discUssion coUld be held free from the prying eyes of oUtsiders.
OH COOL IT'S A VOID BUBBLE, if it works as well as they're saying it does then it means Dirk can't hear what they're planning!!! Not even Rosebot with her ultimate Seer of Light powers because this is as far from the Light as you can hide!
ROXY: yeah cuz this is about us! our family, our future KANAYA: What Is There To Discuss KANAYA: I Thought My Plan Was Well Understood ROXY: ok sheesh well thats hella badass and vengeful but like ROXY: damn shawty idk maybe theres other options then just goin in slicing his shit to smitheroons ROXY: and also like ROXY: COULD you, even?? KANAYA: Id Very Much Like To Try ROXY: lets maybe try something less fucked up first?
Oh wow, they want to SAVE Dirk from himself? That's about as ambitious of a plan as I would expect of Roxy in the full swing of his hero role! :D
I've been thinking more and more about the "Soul-powered Jujus" idea I keep linking to from earlier, and how alt!Calliope's narrative and possession powers were STUNTED when she was splintered in two... which could mean that they could save both Ultimate Dirk and Ultimate Rose by sealing away parts of their broader souls or powers into VESSELS. Possibly creating Skaia itself with fractured shards of Rose's Seer of Light nature or sealing it in the Cueballs, possibly creating Crowbar's Crowbar with part of Dirk's soul-- basically depriving them of their ULTIMATE powers and the corruption that comes with ultimate power, while still leaving enough of them left to be an individual self, see sense and survive.
There's almost no question left anymore with that latest revelation about the returning bubbles from their destination that the nature of the competition between Skaia and the Horrorterrors that forms the nature of the game itself is going to be established in this new Delta/Omega session or whatever you'd like to call it, and that means that the guidance and storywriting potential of the Great Powers that are Skaia and the Horrorterrors must be created, and only an absolutely incredible power could possibly become such quiet yet nigh-omniscient guides. Countless hints like the Orange/Purple "tick, tock" when Jade bet on alt!Calliope freeing her are hinting that the color themes of the Prospit/Derse alignments are retroactively the responsibility of the wills of Dirk and Rose in the first place, somehow diluted and conveyed all across Paradox Space to write these "stories" for every set of heroes and the challenges they have to face. The fulcrum between which the heroes' wills are the only force capable of finding hope and new life from the seeds of the doomed conflict. To quote Aradia back in Act 5:
FAA: a pr0duct 0f c0llusi0n between the disparate f0rces at play FAA: a bargain struck between what skaia kn0ws already and what the g0ds demand up fr0nt FAA: t0gether they 0rchestrate trials sufficient t0 ensure FAA: that in 0verc0ming them we w0uld be pr0ven w0rthy FAA: 0f inheriting the ultimate reward
Dirk is one of the only people with the power to divide a soul such as his, however... unless the awakening of Brain Ghost Dirk out in (Candy) land serves as enough of a fulcrum to partially disarm him like alt!Callie was disarmed earlier. (Or unless that taxidermied body Jade dropped wasn't just Dave's as would have been most obvious, but possibly Dirk's too...) Maybe things can turn so disastrous that they can convince Dirk to shatter HIMSELF, as he may be one of the only ones who can possibly do it, not just Ultimate Rose? Maybe seeing what he's wrought can eventually change a mind even as stubborn as his to some extent? Or maybe fracturing himself to become responsible for EVERY STORY THAT EVER EXISTS IN PARADOX SPACE is at the same time a core part of Dirk Strider's endgame plan, and by that point he'll have already won from his perspective, except to realize that the reality they've sealed OUTSIDE Paradox Space is more free and worthwhile to the readers than the one stuck inside it?
KANAYA: Im Not Sure If Youre Aware Roxy KANAYA: But We Are More Or Less The Foremost Experts When It Comes To Being Quote Unquote Fucked up KANAYA: Anyway He Started It KANAYA: Nothing Remains But To Finish It JADE: yikes! JADE: why don't we all cool off for a second, i wanted to ask calliope something. JADE: who did you mean by "outsiders?" CALLIOPE: er, yes. CALLIOPE: well, CALLIOPE: i began prepping my Dreamly Majyyks as soon as you were released from *her* hold. we needed to do this before she comes back.
Right, because alt!Calliope DID SAY that she would be taking the original Jade back over when they neared too close to their destination. So Calliope and Roxy are helping form a plan to earn an even better ending than what alt!Calliope can direct them to achieve alone...
==>
"Before she comes back." It seems this constellatory quartet doesn’t quite understand.
Oh SHIT. I guess Calliope can't actually hide from alt!Calliope.
==>
calliope: i never left.
YOU MESSED UP THE MEME
CALLIOPE: GAAAAAHH!!! ROXY: callie chillax ROXY: how did she sneak up behind us like that while shes glowing like a christmas tree calliope: i do not sneak. i was always behind/before/alongside you. calliope: i am always alongside/behind/before you. calliope: i simply made my presence known to you. JADE: what are you doing here! calliope: to make a correction to my counterpart's assertion. calliope: you believe the current appearance of the Home is due to the actions of the prince. calliope: that is a half truth, the root of the issue is far deeper than that.
Ooh, so we get some exposition from the source herself, who may actually be on-board with their planning, hopefully, as much as her hijacking of Jade Harley for so long put them at odds with her and her tendency to try and dominate with her power.
Explain what we just figured out to them, will ya, with juicy more details for us to boot? :)
==>
Oh yeah you have pissed EVERYONE off, miss alt!Callie. Might need to defuse things a little so they'll listen.
calliope: though the prince's actions have exacerbated the damage, they are not its origin point. calliope: it's due to the beliefs and desires of those far beyond even my grasp. calliope: it is all that we are/were and its current form is representative of what those outsiders think we are/should be calliope: this Home, in its current form, has become abominable. ROXY: idk i think it looks kinda cool calliope: it is not cool. calliope: it is an eyesore and worse, its purpose has become obfuscated, form plagued with an ever-expanding amalgamation of wings, and rooms, and atriums, and winding exhibition halls. calliope: all uncurated, thoughtlessly tacked on to accommodate garish, self-indulgent new installations. ROXY: and stairs calliope: and stairs. ROXY: it keeps happenin huh calliope: yes. calliope: it keeps happening. JADE: (har har har)
So we're picking up again and continuing to run with the theme that the READERS' need for loops to be tied up and satisfying conclusions to the story the kids successfully ESCAPED, at the end of Homestuck original, is what DRAGGED THEM BACK IN and is keeping them tortured by being "stuck" in a story other people are telling? Like the Monkey's Paw analogue Andrew originally described in his Q&A after the Epilogues about them always having been meant as a flawed wish because the readers wanting to know what happened next, by necessity, trapped the characters in a plot again instead of leaving them free? Daring for this to be brought back again along with all the other themes Dirk as the author avatar who must be stopped, who must be outdone by the fanmade story (Candy) outside canon, needing to be defeated.
calliope: although i doubt it can be restored to its original state, the growth can be curbed. calliope: with or without your assistance, these antics can be brought to a satisfying and hopefully timely conclusion. calliope: the prince thwarted, the renovations finished, and the rest of the recalcitrant furniture bolted neatly back into its place. JADE: are you calling us fucking furniture? ROXY: whos the couch KANAYA: Shut Up ROXY: sorry
Yeah this is a very alt!Calliope view, and the reflections of a different but similarly somewhat villainous sort of author avatar to mirror Dirk Strider -- alt!Calliope reflects the author's need to close every loop, patch up every hole, get all these fanmade additions under control and create a story that wraps up in a neat bow... even if the characters would still be better off FREE of said story. There are extents to which she's as much the author as Dirk, and can't be certain she's not another villain, having done so much damage to shatter the Green Sun and Paradox Space in the first place by leading her brother around in a shitty circle.
KANAYA: Calliope CALLIOPE: hm? KANAYA: No Not You The Dead One KANAYA: The Alternate Calliope ROXY: we gotta come up with a different name JADE: how about bossy dead bitch ROXY: oh snizzap calliope: you can call me al ROXY: aw thats almost cute KANAYA: Is This Cryptic Expositing Truly Necessary KANAYA: Al KANAYA: Actually No Im Not Calling You That calliope: for you, no. but there are other invested parties. KANAYA: We Were About To Engage In A Rather Important Discussion
"AL" is an ominous name, reminiscent of Cal, Hal, LE. Is it for "ALternate!calliope"? Or is there a deeper meaning?
==>
calliope: yes, you were. however, to make it simpler for you i'll tell you this. calliope: ultimately, what you plan here has very little bearing on what you will do. calliope: we will arrive on Deltritus and i will move this story to its conclusion without further complications. calliope: little else matters.
The emblematic author avatar choosing complete dominion over their characters...
ROXY: what the hell is dometriosis KANAYA: And Why Should We Believe Any Of That calliope: it is my duty to tell the truth to those i protect. JADE: well i think we're all better off without your "protection" ! calliope: you can choose to believe that. but my duty grants me authority that surpasses the need for your consent.
...And the emblematic hero OVEREMBRACING their hero role in a way that stomps on the wills of those involved and necessarily leads to a Just death.
==>
ROXY: im sure he thinks the same way
FUCKING EXACTLY, SPILL THAT TEA DUDE!
==>
snap.
calliope: meeting adjourned.
I wonder if and when events will finally convince alt!Callie that she may have chosen wrong.
Perhaps when the Plot Point does its thing and she finally sees the story that the original Calliope, the one she has always overlooked, and how the readers are more compelled by it than by the author-forced march of suffering alt!Callie and Dirk are forcing the story through to tie things back to the beginning, necessary as it SEEMS to them.
==>
*wake*
Dirk: Say hello.
Oh look it's this douchebag again!
Well, well, well. Look who comes crawling back. Had your fill of splashing around in the narrative kiddy pool? Sick of its sterile, chlorinated, artificial reek, its mind-numbing placidity punctuated only by the occasional thrashing tantrums of whiny fucking crybabies and the shrill rebuke of the lifeguard? Ready to take the floaties off and dive back into the depths of the churning, primal ocean from which everything that matters in this story evolved, and to which it must inevitably return? Of course you are. Come join me, the water's fine.
I still love how the moral of this ENTIRE sequel is supposed to be that we're finally shown the origins of Paradox Space's propagation system itself and every loose thread that could have ever been tied up in the entire story, and we're all going to care infinitely more about Yiffany Longstocking Lalonde Harley and all the characters and their unlikely children finding happiness in a ridiculous fanfic timeline than any of that LORE SHIT. What a cool Death of the Author moral for a story to have. --I forgot for a moment that alt!Calliope, one of the competing authors, is literally DEAD and still trying to maintain absolute control of the story from beyond the grave. Moving beyond HER too sounds like it may also have some meaning.
==>
Smug prick and his too-wide smug prick panel
As you've hopefully gathered by now, things are happening again. They've been happening again for a while now, since a certain handsome somebody decided to get off his toned, muscular ass and ascend to godhood for the sake of getting the narrative and all his friends' lives back on track (you're welcome, by the way), but they're especially happening again here and now. When last you left us, our Contest had just begun. Rose and I were beginning the lengthy and convoluted process of engineering our own races to populate Deltritus, meticulously tweaking their genetic profiles and respective collective unconscious-es in an effort to create a species fit to conquer the next session of the Game.
Blah blah blah, recap recap recap. Guess it's been so long that you feel like you need to outline the whole premise of the contest again for us because we've been too busy having fun seeing everything else that was going on, and you needed to hide the two alien races you'd set up from us a while longer. (Are Rose's the necro-something?)
Well, I was. Rose dipped pretty early on in that visual montage to spend some quality time trading barbs and bumping uglies with the supposedly impartial proctor of said Contest, next to the vacant meat-sack that once housed her consciousness. Irresponsible, sure, but to give credit where due, it was irresponsible in a poignant and symbolically weighty sort of way. Classic Rose shit. Rest assured, however, that since then she's spent at least as much time throwing herself into the work as she has cruising for the occasional caliginous bruising.
He's really tailor-made his tone of voice to piss everyone off, hasn't he.
It's been a pretty good time, to be honest. Every now and then I can feel her interest waning, but she's done an incredible job cooking up a witty retort of a race to the deep rhetorical questions posed by my equally-if-not-even-more-bombastically-inspired offspring. She's proven herself a worthy rival, and a worthier collaborator. Her patience for this particular stage of our grand designs is starting to fray, but it's just as well; both of us have essentially done all we feel we can do to lay down solid bio-physio-psycho-sociological foundations for our chosen peoples. Rose's growing discomfort with and desire to move on from this process helps to curb an urge of mine that she's correctly identified as a deep-seated need to micromanage things I care about. A few days back we both agreed that it's high time we get this fucking show on the road, so we've put the finishing touches on our scions and are just about ready to drop them kicking and screaming into the wilds of this beautiful, doomed planet.
Time to stop dirkblocking us and show us your "fantastic" pair of alien races then? Are they going to have any characters we actually begin to care about? You'd better hope so for your sake.
Odds are the whole races either transform to some other force in the eventual game that becomes Sburb or simplify themselves into the white and black Chess People, but you (Dirk) probably knew that already.
==>
Seahorses, connected with pipes to white and black ichor, looking much like the Meteor biological engineering labs, huh? White and black like Life (white (reproductive?) bio-fluids) and Death (ashen ink), the chess and Order colors?
Actually, give me a moment. I need to fix something that's been bugging me.
Huh.
Dirk: Render yourself in a more age-appropriate manner this instant.
Makes sense, with the depiction movement we've been seeing lately. And embraces his awful older bad-parent-to-Dave self more. Reflecting that facet of his broader Soul/existence more.
--Alright, phew. I should pace myself a bit and actually stop here for the day. As much as I'd love to get back to Vrissy seeing Yiffy for the first time, there isn't TOO much of a rush back there yet it looks like, and whatever is between there and here seems to be too wide and juicy, and I've been liveblogging for something like eight hours straight, so I probably shouldn't push myself too hard. I'm definitely coming back to this within a few days, though, because Homestuck^2 is hooking me more and more.
We'll probably see those new races finally this next time!

Long post incoming! Since my minecraft creative world has been getting a lot of attention lately, I thought I'd do a post about the history of it!
previously I had thought it started in 2018, but looking into it it turns out I started it in 2017, which is the first year I played minecraft before that point, my sibling was really into it, but I'd never really been into it that much. the switch came out in 2017 and we got one pretty close to launch, and, not long after that, minecraft released for the system, and we got it so my sibling could finally play, and I gave it a try myself, too
I ended up getting very into it, my first base was this big building built into the side of a mountain :) after that, I got very into the building aspect of minecraft, much more than I liked survival, so I ended up trying out building in creative mode, and built this big house
it had a pool in the basement and lots of simulated furniture like a sink and refrigerator in the kitchen hehe
after this experience, I realized that building in minecraft creative mode is essentially having an infinite supply of legos, and I'd been really into videos about people's giant lego cities or terrain builds or big model train dioramas, and I realized this was the perfect way for me to get to build my own landscapes and such
and so, I generated a flat world
in minecraft for nintendo switch, you could generate a flat world with structures, plus some trees and water features, so that's what this was
the first thing I did was just, plant a huge forest, with little terraforming, and then I built a giant castle
and then I built a mountain
and then I started building an ocean
and here's just some other things I built around that time:
after that, I didn't play for awhile, until 2018, when they ported bedrock to the switch, and I picked up the game again because the performance improvements were really good, and also, it just spurred me on to play again in general ehe
here's a look at basically the entire world at that point:
not terribly long after that I met @da-mous and we started playing minecraft together and building stuff in this world together :)
After that there was another pretty long hiatus, I didn't really work on it more until 2020
before that it'd basically just been me and my sibling working on the world together, me doing all the terrain and that kind of stuff, and they were adding lil buildings to the village, but after meeting cass I started playing with more friends, such as @bisthefairy, who added trains to the world :)
at this point my plan was to build a big cliffside around the entire area and make it into a big valley, and then build more stuff (like an "evil" village and castle to oppose the "good" one I'd already built), and I'd started work on the cliff on the side of the world where I wanted that castle to be
but shortly after that, the first real breakthrough occurred: cass gave me new tools, using command blocks
she gave me tools that could do things like build a massive pillar of dirt below me every tick down to the world limit, build a massive square sheet of dirt below me, fill in a space with water, or paint blocks in front of me into whatever type of block I wanted
this absolutely changed everything, and the cliff project and the ocean project turned from things that would have taken me weeks or even months to complete working by hand, down to only days
and, my landscape structures no longer had to be simply hollow facades, but they were now solid all the way through and I could more easily make things like caves, too!
things started going so fast after that point, the entirety of the world I had built went from this area:
...to this (above pictured area is circled, and not everything pictured here was already built back then)
everything I had done in the last three years was suddenly dwarfed in only a few months
I finished the cliffs, I finished the ocean, I built a custom desert (based on the high desert in Oregon), I built volcanoes, I built mountain ranges, I built the evil castle, I built villages across the ocean, I built huge sloping plains, I built a huge underground cavern with a fairy village in it and fake stars on the ceiling... my projects had gotten so much bigger and more numerous
some time after this, I had to move to the PC version finally, because of an incident involving 14,000 end crystals being spawned into the world, which ruined my save file by creating an inescapable black hole of frame rate loss, and we needed to fix that lol
but anyway, that opened up a lot to me, I had much greater performance and draw distance, and I could play with using structure blocks to steal things from normally generated minecraft worlds, like buildings and just pieces of already generated landscapes, and the plop them into the world and then smoothly integrate them into my already built world, which was really fun
structures can only be of a certain size at a time too, so I had entire notebook pages dedicated to mapping out the pieces I was taking so I could copy paste them all back together seamlessly, ehe
also now that I was on PC, I started dabbling a little bit in external tools, mostly so that I could change the biomes; as a flat world, the entire world was the plains biome, and that really bugged me
I found one that was, honestly, pretty clunky, but did what I wanted with biomes, and that was pretty cool! there weren't a lot of tools for bedrock back in those days, so I did what I could haha
but, now my desert was actually a desert! it would actually snow on top of my mountains! huzzah! and I also took the opportunity to just copy paste ocean all around my world, so that it would become a continent surrounded by water, and I built a jungle island far away
after that, I played a little bit here and there, but wasn't really focused on it too much, I didn't really play at all in 2022 or 2023, I was just doing gamedev nonstop pretty much all year last year
that is, until Grey Area finally released, and @chemkitt had showed me a really cool mod for java edition called 'axiom' that's made specifically for terrain building, like a supercharged version of cass's command block tools, and the fire to work on my minecraft world was lit anew
it was just like the renaissance that occurred when cassie made those tools, suddenly things that had previously taken weeks now took mere days, I was able to completely finish the continent and surrounding lands in mere hours, built a giant archipelago in only a day, and could now change biomes and copy paste millions of blocks in an instant
finally satisfied with the size of the world, I also figured out how to go into the files and complete another long held dream I'd had for the world, to change it back to a normal minecraft world, and let the outer edges generate like normal, essentially kind of sealing in my world, and making it so that the outer edges are no longer endless nothing, which I felt was kind of creepy ehehe
and that's where we are today! my little flat world has grown so much :) my current project is building a new entire (even bigger!) giant continent to the east of the original, and another, smaller, southern continent as well!
and most recently, I've been building a big flower garden type of place full of lots of trees and foliage over on the original continent :)
it's been so so nice seeing so many people enjoy the work I've done here! I'm hoping to do a whole video tour of the place sometime soon, there's so much more to see and talk about than I even did here, ehe!
and there's lots and lots of space to decorate and build things and plant forests and all that, so I hope to invite more people over to add to it in the near future, too!
thanks for reading :3

Simon as a civilian
Headcannoning all this:
Simon Riley likes to spend his days off working out and if he has nothing else to do, he will make small things out of clay.
Has a shelf of things he's made over the years and this is because it helps with his anger/temper issues. His therapist told him it was either he takes the medication or he would dedicate time to something that requires time and patience.
Now, he has a room in his home where he makes stuff. It's not normal-looking stuff by any means but it's like Adam(North of the Border/Youtube guy) kind. He takes pride in making 'Tiny Nerdy Things' and is well known in the arts and crafts store where he buys all materials, tools and other stuff. He even subscribes to all those YouTube channels that make dioramas and even leaves comments because this is genuinely something that interests him and believe it or not, he makes stuff for the other men in the task force.
With that said, I like to believe that when Simon retires, this would be what he would do most days, that and fixing the yard because he has the manpower for that. I also believe he would live in the countryside and would have enough space for a dog or two and would even make them cosy dog houses and the old lady that lives nearby would be his sitter for when he goes to visit some friends.
Talking about the old lady, she would be great friends with Simon and when he found out she too spent her days alone, he and her started to hang out more, which leads to shared dinners and stories. Occasionally, Simon spends days over at her place fixing stuff around and making her home more comfortable for someone her age. He sees his mum in her and he will do anything for this elderly woman and her cat, which he later calls his cat too.
When she ends up visiting her children elsewhere, she gives Simon the keys and he happily leaves some of his 'Tiny nerdy things' around for her to see. She compliments him a lot, "You made this? Oh my, you have so much talent." Simon gets excited over this and although no one understands why, she does and she keeps saying it over.
He feels comfortable around her and he never wears his mask, Ghost is out there but Simon is here.
When Christmas arrives, her kids come over, grandkids included, she phones Simon and when he answers he smiles as he hears her invitation to come to the family dinner. "I don't know why you are alone, you know family eats together." This was enough to make him so excited that he ran to his room, found a cosy jumper and nice trousers, fixed his hair and took out the biscuits he made (Price's wife had to come over to teach him how to make them) and runs down to the old lady's home.
At night, she hands him a gift. Turns out the entire time she was knitting, it was a jumper for him and his dogs to match in. Little skulls and paws decorated the jumper. When she opens his gift to her, she finds two ornaments. One with her cat and the Grinch, long story short she told Simon her cat and she would watch the Grinch movies with her late husband. The second ornament was one of his proudest makings, her home, covered in snow and two tiny figures on the frown yard. Simon and her, the cat and the two dogs.
She tears up a little and she says, "You know, this is very beautiful and I will have this on my shelf all year long. You are a good son." The last comment made Simon tear up too and he, like a clingy child, stays beside her all dinner long.
Also, he is the type of guy to visits that specific store for all his materials that he knows the owner, he helps other customers and even says, "No mate, that clay would last and it cracks, try this one instead." This man will walk around the store and give reviews to others and give them better recommendations which do help and now people try and find him around the store for advice and tips.
A/N: tell me why I really do picture him, night and day making small things and nodding his head and going, "Yeah, this is coming better than I expected." Just for him to downplay and be like, "It's bad, the thing didn't come out great and I wanted to make this green but the brush wasn't small enough." (I do this when I create stuff with clay)

The Resemblance Is Uncanny: Patty Newby and The Uncanny Valley
So, in TFS, we get this dialogue, where Patty talks about the idea of Ella FItzgerald being her mother:
And this line haunts me because of the Uncanny Valley Effect- which is an unsettling feeling that people get when they see something that isn’t-quite-human/looks almost human but isn’t quite right, such as certain types of robots, 3D models, and dolls.
The core idea was that as robots appear more humanlike, they become more appealing to people- but only up to a certain point. At that point, you enter the “uncanny valley,” where those previously positive reactions turn into fear and unease.
(Which, the idea of dolls triggering the uncanny valley effect is interesting considering all of the doll imagery in ST, and what I talked about in this post re: Patty, Patty's mom, and the little music box dolls.)
And so, looking back at that line from Patty re: how her resemblance to her mom/in the case of this joke, Ella Fitzgerald, is “uncanny,” I think that this line is referencing the uncanny valley effect in relation to Patty, especially since later on, during the bathroom scene, we get a LITERAL uncanny valley Patty- she comes in and her hair looks slightly weird, and her movements/mannerisms are slightly weird, and she just feels wrong. She literally triggers the uncanny valley effect, the change is a lot more obvious when you actually watch the play compared to screenshots:
(And then she starts ripping out her own hair, and ends up all weird and zombified/she becomes literally not human-looking anymore)
The initial/non-zombified, uncanny valley effect-inducing vision version of Patty with the weird hair and weird mannerisms makes me think of the weird version of 001 that we see during the NINA sleepyhead scene, where his hair and mannerisms are weird, and he feels very uncanny/not quite human- it’s not just a case of him looking and acting different from the other version of 001, instead, it’s ALSO the fact that the way he looks and acts feels not quite human. Even if he was the ONLY version of 001 that we saw, he would still trigger that uncanny valley effect because there’s something just not quite right about him/he feels “almost human” but not quite:
(not to mention that him and patty have a very similar hand clasp, patty just has a different hand on top) And it also makes me think of the deepfaked 8 year old El we see during NINA, who has a similar uncanny valley-esque look to her (which is extra interesting considering Patty's constant El parallels), which also makes me think about the weird NINA/simulation vibes in TFS, and the idea of deepfaking within TFS/stuff like what I talked about in this post re: TFS, Patty and The Matrix and people appearing not quite right and Agent Smith looking human for the most part but not being human/feeling slightly wrong in an uncanny valley way:
And also, on the note of NINA, going back to what I said in the beginning re: the idea of 3D models causing the uncanny valley effect, I’m staring at all of the miniature/model (see: el’s school project diorama, the dnd miniatures etc) imagery, like I talked about in this post, as well as all of the puppet imagery in ST and TFS and the fact that 3D models are rigged and animated like digital puppets, and I’m wondering if that’s part of all of this too, especially considering the idea that Brenner might be “playing” with various puppets/3D models/artificial versions of people in NINA in order to manipulate El’s perception of events.
And the whole "Patty and the uncanny valley effect/Patty being associated with the idea of things that look human but aren't quite human" thing also makes me think of what I’ce talked about re: the changeling references and the shapeshifter references that surround Patty, such as Miss Mystery versus Mystra from DND, who is a shapeshifter (and Patty's Mystra stuff is a whole separate post/draft on its own), as well as DND Doppelgangers & what I’ve talked about re: those vs the ST “demogorgon”/the idea of certain ST characters actually being doppelgangers in certain scenes/not quite being human because they’re actually a Creature pretending to be human.
Which, the doppelganger thing gets extra interesting considering Patty’s parallels to Barbara Holland versus Nancy seeing a literal Barb doppelganger in S2:
Anyway! Lots to think about. It’s also interesting that Patty specifically says that the resemblance becomes “uncanny” once you “said it out loud,” versus Patty telling Henry to “say it,” during the attic scene and what I talked about in this post re: TFS in general, the attic scene/the “i love you” scene and how it feels like a dream moment for Patty and how it’s specifically henry SAYING “i love you” to Patty that changes things/stops things, rather than the feeling of love, its the “saying it out loud” that makes things stop:
As well as the focus on “you never SAY IT” during Mike and El’s S4 bedroom fight, and all of the TFS references to the idea that something is real if you believe in it/the idea of speaking something into existence, and how the uncanny valley effect is tied to a person’s perception of a robot/doll/creature etc and whether or not they believe that it’s human, which goes back to what I’ve talked about before re: doppelgangers/shapeshifters in ST & not only the idea of other people believing that theyre human, but they themselves truly believing that they’re human & the idea of whether or not that makes them human/“if a doppelganger who has fully taken on the form of a human body truly believes that they’re human, and doesnt know that theyre a doppelganger, and their body is technically completely identical to a human body, then does that make them human?”
Anyway! Again, lots to think about.

Who’s going to troll you like Taylor Swift..?
And why she's gay.
Taylor has told us time and again that she sees herself as a lonely millennial woman living in a cabin in the woods with her cats. And she's also told us that she will do anything to prove a point. Well it turns out she might have been trolling us from the very beginning.
This is going to be both a light hearted look at the Easter eggs Taylor has left along the way, as well as a more serious attempt to understand the deeper meaning behind it too.
"I tell lies!"
During the Jimmy Fallon box of lies skit, you pick out a box off the shelf and try to bluff the opponent whist describing the boxes contents. It's no surprise Taylor picked out the numbers 1 and 3, and Jimmy picked out number 5. They’re her favourite numbers, but the connection to what was in the boxes have some fun surprises.
Taylor opened up the first box to reveal a pair of binoculars with corn in each end and a lanyard that says 'I can see corn'. This is a reference to the pair of binoculars from the picture to burn music video.
Taylor lied about what the item was, excitedly saying that it was a wizards of Waverley place DVD with a weird ribbon around it that says I see corn. Claiming she was doing a double bluff. The corn is a reference to the tinkerbell character played by Julia Roberts. There I so much we could read into this but I'll let you use your imagination.
Jimmy chose the number 5 box and was pretending it was too heavy to carry, a reference to the sadder track 5 songs. He pulled out a diorama of Chewbacca from Star Wars who was taking a bug for a walk on a leash through the park. Taylor has recently swallowed a few bugs during the eras tour, but upon further research I found this is a joke from the good will hunting movie. When a hot girl walks up, Will's friend claims he'd swallowed a bug to cover up his erection.
The lie Jimmy told about the item is that it was a family of pinecones playing trouble. He talks about sheet music and how they're playing the song. If you look closely you'll see a rubber chicken that makes the sound of the goat associated with the viral song.
The final box Taylor opens is number 3. It's a grey book with grimace on the front, with a tab on the side to open it. Inside there's a couple of holes cut with a burger and fries in the hole.
She describes that the book is a biography written by a fuzzy monster with seal hands, and then says that grimace the purple monster is on the cover. Jimmy believes she's telling the truth. But the way she described him at first reveals grimace wasn't the only monster she was talking about.
Both of Taylor's boxes mention Selena Gomez. A few of her previous roles match the style of the book Taylor described. And she was also in the Disney games, which is very UNO coloured game show.
But the interesting thing is that the purple monster referenced matches the description of both grimace and barney. Funnily enough Selena was also on the Barney show too.
“I’m not loving it”
Taylor really is a millennial, but out of all the references to the 90's I wasn't expecting to find so many connections to Mc Donalds. A big part of the happy meals and toys that came with them was the characters on the boxes.
Taylor has showed us that she will go a long way to prove people are wrong. The first guitar she learned to play had twelve strings instead of six out of defiance. Her debut album and early unreleased music reveal how she's not afraid to sing about revenge.
The removal of the "you're gay" line from picture to burn hints at how Taylor wasn't afraid to be herself, but with increased success and fame it was removed and her pop star persona was created to appear more likeable by the masses.
What would be more iconic that seeking revenge through the most recognised brand in the world? She has taken the concept of her Tim McGraw song about how every time they hear it they're going to associate the song with her, and taken it further than ever.
This connects the fearless, speak now and red era together with the colour and costumed outfits. This seems to be a dig at her old management for the way she had to be closeted, but also a way to represent her identity. This is Taylor's Version of queer flagging.
We're still seeing references to these characters and colour combinations on the eras tour. The midnights set references the monster on the hill, we have the giant Taylor looking like Godzilla walking around the city and the purple fur coat for lavender haze.
But the reason why she wears these now is not because of Grimace but because of Barney. Taylor's use of purple glitter connects to this too. Purple is the new Taylor's Version.
"My life under the golden arches"
The red and yellow that is currently associated with Taylor and Travis being endgame is no accident. There's a strong theme of red and golden love throughout Taylor's work. And it all comes down to this...
The golden arches of the McDonalds logo create an M. If you flip the M it becomes a W. The songs about Men have always been talking about Women. Just look at how many times Taylor's sang maroon.
"Put narcotics into all of my songs
And that's why you're singing along."
And she's been telling us this since the very beginning!
13 has been her lucky number for a reason. The one for her microphone and the three for the women she loves. Taylor has always been gay, she's just watered down the Wine so we can drink it.
There are two Friday the 13th's this year that everyone is eagerly anticipating. This would be too predictable of a move, after all.
If Taylor is the 🎃 anon then what better time than October the 31st to reclaim her favourite numbers?
A tortured poet,
Kylie x

Even & Dicey from Lost in Random
Last year I worked with a company called Zoink Games on the soundtrack for their game, 'Lost in Random'. It has a very Tim Burton-esque aesthetic and I love the art look and feel of the game, it's world and it's characters. I wanted to make a little something from it to sit on my desk. Here's the results:
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Dicey was a lot easier to paint as he's so much simpler, but Even was still relatively quick to do. The hardest part was the face. I struggle painting faces, and this one has so much detail and character that I wanted to get across in the model. I was quite lucky in that I had the idea to use the airbrush for the reddened eyes and nose, but forgot to thin down the paint enough and caused splatter. However, these turned out looking like the freckles and imperfections in the game's model and looked great.
The first print of Dicey was a little... dicey. You can see in the picture below that the detail just wasn't quite there and I had to go through and re-carve out the lines and shapes, and add a much more pronounced displacement map to the final mesh to have the details really pop. That way it would be easier to pull the details out with a wash and dry brush later on.
The diorama itself is also the first big print (that wouldn't have been possible with my previous printers) with my new Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4k. I was worried that the bigger print area would reduce the detail and make noticable edges/layers on prinst, but it turned out great and there's very little difference between the quality of the Mini and the Mighty 4k. For example, here's the Mini and Mighty 4k's next to each other:
Here's some more work-in-progress shots along the way:
Here's the characters individually:
Even's dress still doesn't feel quite muddy/dusty enough to match the in-game aesthetic, but I'm too worried about ruining it now to go much further, and I think it looks okay how it is with the more prominent colours.
What do you think? Have you played the game? Any other characters you'd want to see printed and painted? Feel free to pop a comment or a repost with your thoughts.

Fic idea that I’m posting here because it’s ass-o’clock and my phone’s notes function wasn’t open. This won’t make any sense to anyone sry:
Wanxian (with a side of Jiang Chang and Wen Qing)
- Genius artist and inventor Wei Ying also neurotypical AF because childhood trauma caused him all sorts of issues but also taught him to think in entirely new and inventive ways. His art is a literal insane mishmash of performance, found object collections, activism, and gorgeous weird shit like mini dioramas that are batshit crazy and charming and gorgeous and fantasy maps of hilarious places (I dreamt this and was crying laughing in my dream, I hope I can replicate it)
- college roommates with sheltered but peaceful poetry student Lan Zhan, who at first is shocked that their dorm room has been turned into some sort of bizarro art installation but then meets Wei Ying and has his mind thoroughly blown. THEN he sees his actual giant theme park of an art exhibition and has his mind even more blown.
- Wei Ying is also always backstage hanging out with buddies at a local insanely cool club and music venue, being himself aka the center of everyone’s attention but kinda oblivious and just living his life on his own terms. LWJ happens to go there one night for a poetry slam, and sees Wei Ying walking back stage and has a gay panic about it but still recites the poem he wrote inspired by his feelings for WWX. It’s vague enough so that WWX has no clue but he does have his own mind blown a little.
- Along with being an artist, WWX is also a genius scientist and is helping program an unmanned spacecraft at a science buddy’s request (Huisang maybe?)
- Then shit gets bad. The spacecraft blows up and kills several people in the vicinity, and word leaks out that an unauthorized person who isn’t even a real scientist was involved in the programming. WWX obviously gets blamed. He becomes withdrawn and self isolates, looking more and more unhinged, and by this point, far out of college, Lan Zhan can only worry from a distance because WWX keeps pushing him away.
- The only person WWX really doesn’t push away is Wen Qing’s baby cousin. Because of this, the Wen siblings have to watch him slowly shut down and destroy himself. No longer creating, hardly existing, no longer interested in activism, he’s just given up. He gets daily harassment and death threats from strangers. He goes on a talk show in order to use the chance not to address his own scandal but to bring attention to an actual cause he used to support wholeheartedly. He blows it, basically letting Jiang Cheng, Wen Ning, and Wen Qing do the work while remaining silent.
- Jiang Cheng blows a fuse about him giving up, but Wen Qing and Wen Ning decide to fix him by figuring out what really happened to the spacecraft because they don’t believe WWX would or could fuck that up. They enlist Huisang and investigate. Lan Zhan volunteers too.
- Shocker, it turns out that it was Meng Yao, who then framed WWX by anonymously releasing the story to the press.
- I haven’t figured out the aftermath, and I’m open to ideas
- But basically WWX comes back to himself, gets together with Lan Zhan, and goes back to being an amazing creative genius weirdo. Lan Zhan is just smug about everything. WWX and JC make up and JC and WQ get together (there’s a whole crazy subplot to this that I’m too tired to write now so I hope I remember it but basically she saved his life as a child. And they both were unaware it was the other of that time. JC is currently in a bad relationship and WQ is lowkey in love with WWX but knows she doesn’t have a chance so she promotes him to free didi status.

The Mariner, and why was he the "Helpful Spook"?
I have more to talk about with the Haunted Mansion 2023 movie, go figure. This time it's about our wonderful new friend, the Mariner!
Slight spoilers for the 2023 movie below.
So what's the deal with the Mariner in the movie?
In the 2023 movie, he is the ghost attached to Ben, haunting him until he returns to the Gracey Mansion. This becomes helpful as the Mariner travels with Ben, Travis, and Kent to Crump Mansion, and while there reveals some of Crump's plot. In return for this, Ben takes the Mariner to the sea and, released from the mansion, the Mariner happily takes a modern fishing boat and heads out to sea, presumably to emulate Deadliest Catch, which he seems fond of on TV.
So what's the deal with the Mariner in The Mansion Itself?
Well, to put it simply, the Mariner may be considered the final, lasting, singular reference to one of the earliest concepts for the Haunted Mansion.
Yale Gracey and Rolly Crump* seemed to have a rather solid plotline for one of the very first iterations of the Haunted Mansion: a wealthy Sea Captain, Bartholomew Gore, is set to marry his longtime love Priscilla (or in some cases, they already are married) before Priscilla uncovered a chest full of evidence revealing that Captain Gore was not merely a sea captain, but the infamous Pirate known as Black Bart. With his secret revealed and Priscilla horrified, Captain Gore disposed of her; varying methods include locked in a trunk and thrown down a well which was then sealed.
If any of you are familiar with the story of how Crump and Gracey were told they had to turn off their special effects at night as the cleaning crew were too frightened to clean their studio space, only to amp it up to scare out the crew entirely, the Gore and Priscilla story was still on the notes at that time. It's likely that the diorama they rigged up to scare the poor cleaners was that of Gore and Priscilla themselves!
So where's the Mariner in the mansion now?
Unfortunately? He isn't. The Sea Captain's plot was discarded in favor of a less structured approach to the Mansion, one more like we have today - not dedicated to any one ghost, but many. And the Mariner himself didn't actually make the cut. The Disneyland Mansion has no sign of him; the Disney World Mansion is a little different.
The Sea Captain, or the Mariner, appears in a painting in the loading area of the attraction, and in fact it's been suggested that the Mariner's appearance was lifted right from some of the earliest concept sketches of Captain Gore. With the addition of the interactive queue outside the WDW mansion, he's more accredited the name of "Captain Culpeper Clyne" (who's allergic to dirt so he's pickled in brine!) or the man in the crypt that's sprung a leak.
Oh, and Captain Gore's design might also have been the inspiration for the infamous Auctioneer in Pirates of the Caribbean (ride).
Prior to the 2006-2007 refurbishment, the Mariner was one of the paintings with eyes that would follow the Guests as they passed by in their Doombuggies; now, however, his portrait doesn't do anything, it just looms over the Guests as they board**. There were also rumors that his story could be found in the Columbia Harbor House across the street, but I have yet to find those rumors confirmed (and I've looked, believe me.)
And why did you make me read all this, Dani?
Because with all this in mind, at least for me, it's nice to see the Mariner in particular - as opposed to a different more marketable spirit, like one the Hitchhiking Ghosts who would seem more obvious - be the Helpful Spook who follows our protagonist. To me, it seems like a little nod that maybe, just maybe, the people who made this movie really knew their Mansion history!
Or it could be a coincidence.
Whatever the case, I'm just really thrilled to see that a spook arguably attached to one of the very first ideas of the Haunted Mansion, who gets no real appearance in the original HM and arguably less and less in the WDW HM, get a little bit of the spotlight in the 2023 movie.
*No relation to Alastair Crump or Edward/William Gracey; the "Master Gracey" character was named after Yale, and I strongly suspect that Alastair Crump was named so as a reference to Mr. Rolly Crump. That makes the Gracey Mansion and the Crump Mansions both direct references to two of the earliest brains on the inimitable Haunted Mansion!
**A similar portrait was April-December; she was recently restored to the Disneyland Mansion as a changing portrait, but in WDW her eyes would also follow guests. Like all the eye-following portraits, she was dismissed in the refurbishment, but she's a prominent painting in the movie; she is the hidden door to the seance room - in fact, the way to open the door is by using the eye-holes as a handle! Clever little referencing there, I think.
Also if you like Haunted Mansion history and just about any tangent you can think of, I encourage you to check out the Long-Forgotten Haunted Mansion blog a little bit more. They know their stuff over there!

I had a pretty great day. It was beautiful out. And while I desperately wanted to go home at times, I still had a really nice day. And I got a lot of stuff done at home too. My energy was good.
I didn't sleep amazing. We put a fan in the bedroom though and that helped. I think w combination of the sound and the breeze. We are going to put a ceiling fan in our room but we just haven't gotten to it yet. Jess gave us the one from her house she replaced. It works she just wanted a different look. So we will have to do that soon.
When I woke up I was not thrilled. I took forever to get ready and I really liked my hair and my outfit and was feeling nice about myself.
James helped me carry some stuff to the car. Things I'm returning to the art building and all the fish tank stuff I took out yesterday to clean. And after a hug we said goodbye.
I had a nice drive. And would listen to my podcast. And got to camp at 8. I was really excited that it would be warm later but it was chilly right then.
I went up to arts and crafts and dropped off all my stuff. I wouldn't clean the fish stuff yet. My hands would be to cold. So I would come back later.
I went and had my breakfast and continued to work on the PowerPoint slideshow. Which took less then an hour to finish. I would work on finishing up the poster for the open house next. Which was quick. I had only been waiting for 5 more pictures but Elizabeth finally just told me to Google them which I was like. You could have told me that a week ago. But whatever. It's handled. The poster is done.
Sarah came in and we decided to work on sorting the board games. This ended up being way more stressful then I expected. I had to keep stopping and starting again. It was both to dusty and just overwhelming. I was not having a good time.
I tried though. Putting like games together. Making note of the broken ones. But I very much felt overwhelmed and I took a lot of breaks.
Around 11 I decided it was finally warm enough to wash the fish stuff. I would rinse everhbting really well and would find my pet snail!! Not one of the invader snails. He was out of the tank for hours! I felt so bad. I put him in a cup of water and hoped for the best and he's fine?? The most powerful snail.
After I finished cleaning everything I would leave them out in the sun. And went to collect all the materials I want to bring for my workshops on Friday. I have two sessions of diorama making. I'm excited to make things with the kids. I still need to get my paints and things ready for them. But it is going to be a lot of fun.
I would have my lunch and do some research for things we might need for Uganda. A travel adapter. Which it turns out they use the same as the UK so that wasn't as hard I expected. And I did research into water filters. I ended up finding a two pack of straws that filter and the reviews specifically mentioned Uganda so I was like oh perfect. I sent everything to James and they agreed with me about the choices. And they should be here very good.
I would go for a walk around camp. Just looking around. Enjoying how pretty out it was. I did some more computer work though. Working on handouts for workshops. Things like that. But it didn't take long.
I took the gator to move the archery targets to the bike shed. And then went to get my materials and fish stuff from the art building to drive to my car. It was ridiculously beautiful out so I drove extra around camp hurt enjoying being out there.
When I got back Sarah let me know she was going to go get the mail and then wanted to know if I wanted to go check out nature camp's low ropes course.
I have never been to nature camp. I have worked at puhtok since 2020 and I just never have gone to the other camp on our property. So I suggested that we take the gator and save some energy. She said that was a great idea and we headed out.
It was super fun. Nature camp is a little dilapidated, since they have been closed for a few years now, only getting used for rentals, but the nature itself was beautiful. Their stream was actually flowing. And it was neat seeing the other buildings.
We went and followed the trails to the low ropes course. And it was a very cool one! We were both a little to old to actually complete the whole thing but it was still really fun. I wish we had more stuff like it. Rope brides and blocks and a a small zip line and we climbed what we could and it was like. Legit play. I really had a lot of fun. Even if it was a bit exhausting and made my hands hurt. I had to take my rings off because my hands swelled up. Which isn't shocking but is still uncomfy.
Sarah would walk up the hill to go check out some tire swings we could see, while I walked along the stream and while I did not see any creatures, I still really loved the water.
We were both a little tired and hot so we walked back to the gator. Which felt so far away but we made it and we're only huffing and puffing a little.
We drove to get the mail. And then back to the office. We weren't there to long though. Sarah would go up to the barn. And I would go for a walk to the Glen to see how the frog eggs were doing.
They are migrating towards the center of the pond but I was still able to get close enough to see that some of them are no longer dots bht sre now small rectangles! They grow stronger by the day.
By the time I got back to the office and answered some emails it was 330. And I was bored. Wildly bored. I texted Sarah and let her know I was heading out.
I didn't go home right away. Instead I stopped at goodwill. And I'm really glad I did. It was stupidly busy but I still had some amazing finds.
Firstly I found a new fruit shaped sugar dish. My orange (fruit) shaped one finally shattered to much to fix. And I found a strawberry one! Amazing. Then I found another soda stream bottle. A great deal at $2 and now James can have a soda flavor too.
But then I found the best thing. I turned the corner and my childhood doll house was right there. Like I spent hours with this doll house. And it was only $10.
As I was taking a picture of it a woman accidentally stepped in front of me and apologized and I was like it's all good. And I told her all about the doll house and how all the feelings hit me. And she was like you obviously have to buy it. But I wasn't sure yet. I walked around the whole store a few times. I texted James for advice. And I decided that if I didn't get it I would regret it. So I got it.
And I'm thrilled. I would drive home and was super excited to get it inside and clean it up.
It was kind of a rough drive. But I got home before 430. I parked and brought my stuff inside. And as I was closing the door I heard James come in the back door! Same time!
James would start making a pizza dough. And I would jump into cleaning the fish tanks. Which finally seem clean. I set up the tank I took everything out of. I checked on omelet, who seems to be thriving. And I vacuumed the other tank a few more times just to get the floaty stuff out.
I poured everything in the dirt outside. And the sun felt so nice out there.
While I was pruning the plants in the one tank someone knocked on the door and James answered and it was someone signing us up for the provider for our electric and gas. Which I don't know if that's normal anywhere else but it is here. It's so your energy is offset by solar and wind power. So James signed us up for this one. The guy was also really nice and complimented the studio and thought it was really cool. Thank you.
After that person left I finished the tanks and started working on cleaning the doll house. Which was very dirty. I also had to reglue the house number back on the front. And after I cleaned it up I made space for it on the shelf and took the other house apart to move everyone in.
And I am really excited to how it looks. I had to pull some more furniture and accessories from storage but it came together so well.
I would take a break to have some pizza James made. They went to go play a game with friends and I kept working on my doll house.
After I finished that I did some cleaning. I vacuumed and cleaned the kitty litter. I started putting stuff on the skinny shelf I made since James has finished painting it. And I would do some more organizing of the living room and moving things around. It was fun.
Eventually I ran out of steam. And I cuddled up on the couch with sweetp. I have been hanging out here texting Celia and Callie. And now James is here. And the evening is winding down.
Tomorrow I am not sure what we are going to do at camp. I know we have to set up for the field trip on Friday. But beyond that I am not sure what the day will bring. I just hope it's a nice day. I hope I am not as desperate to go home.
I hope you all have a great night tonight. Sleep good. Be safe. Take care of yourself. Until next time!!

A Quiet Place: Day One
So I wasn't really forward to this. Not because the trailers were bad, they were fine I guess. But because the original A Quiet Place is what I would call a diorama horror movie. It works exclusively in the specific scenario it sets up for itself. Once it starts expanding outward, you start to ask questions that it isn't prepared to answer. I didn't watch the second Quiet Place, by the way. I heard that it wasn't that good so I skipped it. I also keep thinking the title of this movie is A Quiet Place: Year One, so that's a good sign for how well this will stick to my memory.
What's This Movie About?
A dying poet is in New York City when the aliens from the Quiet Place invade, and she teams up with a British law student to go get a last slice of pizza.
What I Like.
At the start of the movie, there wasn't much to like, not gonna lie. The main character was very unlikable and her goal seemed completely random and stupid. But as the movie unfolds and she eventually explains herself, I actually was on board with the pizza plan. (Yeah, you thought I was joking about that. But I wasn't!) I like the law student a lot. The two best scenes in the movie are when they can just relax for a moment and connect. I also think the tension in the movie is very well done. It's not as good as the first movie, as the background music and more dialogue doesn't create a better atmosphere than the first Quiet Place, but A Quiet Place: Fortnite One does one theme that I personally find really horrifying. The idea that a human's instinct in a crisis is to make noise. When we get scared, we scream. If we're hurt, we yell for help. All of our emergency services use cars with loud sirens and to convey information to each other we talk. All of that gets you killed in A Quiet Place: First Century BCE. It's definitely the scariest idea of the setting and the movie takes full advantage of it.
What I Didn't Like.
The aliens in the movie. I don't know if they have official names for whatever they are, so I'm just going to call them the Motherfuckers. The Motherfuckers in the original A Quiet Place were terrifying. They were so fast and strong, that basically making any noise louder than shush became instant death. You basically never saw a bit of them until the end, which is when the family discovers how they can kill them. They were basically an existential threat. You couldn't run from the Motherfuckers, you could only hide by being quiet, and the happy ending of the movie is the discovery of how to fight them.
Meanwhile, A Quiet Place: One Day In Shangri-La turns the Motherfuckers into a horde of idiot grimblies that mindlessly chase anything that makes any sort of noise. My biggest problem is that you see way too much of them. And they look stupid. Their rippling faces are sort of gross, I guess, but I can't not get over their super long arms and giant hands. They look like cartoon characters, especially when they start moving in herds and climb all over the buildings to chase down helicopters. Plus, they get severely nerfed in this movie. There are several moments where characters can out-run the Motherfuckers. That would have never happened in the original movie. Yes, they use car alarms to distract some of them, but still. Plus, in the original movie everyone had to walk on sand barefooted to avoid detection, but I guess walking over shattered glass and rubble in shoes makes the same amount of noise. They also retcon the "can't swim" weakness from the second movie. It's not that the Motherfuckers can't swim, it's that they don't know how to hold their breath. That's fucking stupid.
I have a couple other complaints. The movie is pretty slow, and while I generally liked the pace, it felt a bit shaggy in places. A lot of this movie I wasn't sure if I liked or not, and while I came out mostly positive on them. The cat isn't really one of those things. It's just basically a dog in the movie, but I guess as the weakest justification to keep it alive through some really dumb moments. The cat is the catalyst for the weirdest scene in the film. The law student needs to chase it into a destroyed construction site, where there's this alien fungus that all the Motherfuckers come to eat and I don't know what this is in the movie. Maybe to explain what the Motherfuckers actually feed on since they don't eat the things they kill? But if their only food source came from the planet with them I feel like they should've all died out before the first movie.
Final Summation.
A Quiet Place: Day One is fine. I kinda liked it even. It really does come down to the characters though, speaking with my coworkers who watched the movie with me, a lot of them thought it was too slow and was putting them to sleep. But it worked for me.

riv styx's rec list
(say that five times fast!)
this is gonna be really, really long, so i'm putting it all under the cut, sorted alphabetically and categorized by rating. if there's something you'd like to add, just reply, rb, or send me an ask!
General
Amo, Amas, Amat by Verecunda
1502 words. Jed just doesn't get this whole Latin thing.
Finishing (Touches) by flowerdeluce
4255 words. After escaping Kahmunrah's hourglass, Jedediah has a problem that's worse than non-functional guns: as it turns out, sand baths exfoliate more than a hand-painted miniature cowboy can afford. Octavius takes it upon himself to make everything better.
Forget-Me-Not by EwokRae22
17437 words. Octavius is the first to come down with it— and discovers all too quickly what it means to cough up flower petals, yet is unwilling to guilt his best friend into loving him just to save him. Jedediah ends up infected too, in his effort to help his best friend— who he secretly loves. OR: A Hanahaki au, but it begs the question. If Hanahaki were a real disease, how would it have effected world history?
Hold My Hand by hoc_voluerunt
2683 words. "I'll take that hand now." Focused on the end of The Secret of the Tomb. Jedediah and Octavius come to a realisation on their final night alive in New York.

Manifest Destiny by clumsyghost

The Sanctuary (Any Weather series) by EwokRae22
15338 words. On a lucky break from McPhee, Larry brings the exhibits on a winter vacation north of New York. He has everything prepared, or at least that’s what he tells himself. Because nothing can stop Jedediah and Octavius’s useless and oh-so-tiny longing for each other, not even the snow.
Teen
Ain't No Prince Charming by Merlin Missy (mtgat)
4270 words. When his very best friend in the world gets stolen from the museum, Jedediah sets out to rescue him.
All This Bad Blood by doorrepairgirl

Cacoethes by Anonymous
4478 words. A deeper look into Jedediah and Octavius's experiences during Battle of the Smithsonian, and a look at what could have happened after the end.
Glimpse of us by rice_enjoyer
5311 words. He finds it thrilling to fight Jedediah like this, to tear into each other until they’re both panting messes, hair disheveled and skin blossoming with purple bruises. Octavius subconsciously loves the small in-betweens where they catch their breath. Having Jedediah laid out before him, shirt rumpled and red handkerchief skewed out of place. He feels an almost possessive pride seeing the marks they leave on each other, claiming one another, even in the name of rivalry. For what is hatred, if not a twisted form of fascination? tldr someone on tumblr said jedtavius makes more sense as bitter exes and i haven't stopped thinking about it since
He Loves Me Not by orphan_account
25820 words. Jed stumbles across a stack of unsent/unfinished love letters from Octavius to an unknown person in the museum. Jed sets out to find out who. Not because he’s jealous. No, not all.

10180 words. There are secret articles in our treaties with the gods, of more importance than all the rest, which the historian can never know.' -- Henry David Thoreau. This hour I tell things in confidence, I might not tell everybody, but I will tell you. -- Walt Whitman, "Song of Myself"
Kingdoms Of Clay by Historical_kitten
31675 words. The tablet is at the museum to stay and all the miniatures are pleased. In celebration, the museum has made several changes, including installing a new diorama. Unfortunately, the new exhibit contains historical figures that Octavius knows all too well. The Roman general's life is turned upside down when he encounters an old enemy who is not content to leave the past in the past. Jedediah has Octavius' back as always, but when his enemy discovers the cowboy is his weakness, Octavius will have to scramble to save everything he loves. Will Octavius survive the reappearance of an old rival while keeping Jedediah safe? Will he tell said cowboy how he truly feels about him? Or will we see the second fall of Rome? You'll have to read to find out!
On Every Horizon by flowerdeluce
15551 words. After discovering how lucrative ‘publicity stunts’ are for the museum, McPhee organises a series of art exhibitions in the museum’s gallery. The installations are refreshed weekly, leaving Jed and Octavius only brief windows of time to explore each one.
One Minute I Held the Key; Next the Walls Were Closed on Me by woolesbeano
19336 words. Ahkmenrah understands human nature. He knows how this works. It’s a simple tradeoff, one he’s familiar with. Compliance and subservience grant him freedom from his sarcophagus. Mistakes result in punishment. It’s human nature. He’s used to it. Then why does the museum seem different?
Paper Planes by SugarGlassShards
4372 words. Saving the day is easy. Surviving the morning evening after the night before — not so much.
promise a future I can come back to by Riv_Styx
31,127 words. A story about two men, second chances, and destiny - or, a mostly-pre-canon soulmate AU, featuring matching scars and a healthy dose of gay pining.
The Barn Raising by PoetryInMotion
7463 words. The Old West's barn has been demolished by a fetch-related accident. When they get a new one, the Western denizens throw a good old-fashioned barn-raising party. Jedediah decides to invite Octavius (and both secretly hope that they can kindle a romance between the do-si-do and the two-step).
too much green to feel blue by HearJessRoar
3177 words. In which Octavius decided that if he was going to die in Pompeii, like hell was he going to die without kissing Jed first, and well. They didn't die. Now what.
Mature
i don't want to live forever (i'm afraid i'll go to heaven series) by HungryOnMain
3418 words. Jedediah and Octavius don't make it. The exhibits prepare for stasis for what may be the last time. The two miniatures awaken in a strange place, before a strange being. Judgement comes.
While Rome Burned by csi_sanders1129
10265 words. In which a new addition (Emperor Nero) to the Roman diorama causes serious trouble for our two favorite miniatures.
Windowsill by bisexualsolidsnake
5417 words. Larry knew their favourite date night spot well, since he’s the one who always had to retrieve them when they inevitably stayed there too long. For once, though, he knew where they would end up tonight weeks in advance. Shameless proposal fluff.
Explicit
As A Man by orphan_account
2894 words. "I think it's pretty darn simple. You're lookin' real temptin' down there, an' I can't help but think ya would look even prettier if I just-" His thumb slips lower, until it catches on the edge of Octavius' lip. He just looks up through his lashes at Jedediah, who seems to be waiting for the roman to tell him to stop. He should. He should tell Jedediah to remove his hands. That it is unsightly, even atrocious, for a man of his status to be on the ground before him, but all Octavius can think about is how much he wants to rise up onto his knees and take the cowboy into his mouth. If he was a man with even less control than he already is, he could easily drool at the thought. or: Octavius comes to terms with the fact he might like being submissive, sometimes

TEN toes of pleasure
Gosh, but i let this set way too long. Meant to clean these up over the break, but... well, i just didn't? Honestly, they're a little pain in the butt, but what can you do about it?
youtube
i remember finding this one well more frustrating than it really needed to be, and not really managing to nail the theme that well? Everything just seems so washed out, and the level has a much emptier feel than Joja's usual. i honestly feel pretty hit-and-missy on Joja as a creator. Like, they put the work in, and when they manage to nail it, the look of their levels is fantastic; but it doesn't seem like they have a great idea of how to set up a proper difficulty curve, their checkpoints are... they could be placed better, and i usually wind up at the end of the level just kind of wanting things done wiv? Like a well presented meal that's really too much to stomach.
youtube
This one's a keeper tho'. i'd always been familiar wiv taxok20 through their music, so it was a bit of a surprise that they did gameplay levels, and did them so well. This level just oooooozes wiv charm and good humour, tons of neat details and characters; and i will never not appreciate when creators try to make their levels bilingual. It's not easy to juggle a second language, and that deserves respect. i wish i could use Japanese characters when inputting text in LBP3, but it won't register the keyboard even when i have system language set to Japanese, maybe on account of it being a US copy?
youtube
An earlier effort from taxok20, and it definitely shows. It's not a bad level, and i definitely had fun wiv it; but it's a lot clunkier than their later work, and you don't really get the charming vibe we found in Welcome to the Halloween. Still, we all gotta start somewhere.
youtube
i don't know what, if anything, i was expecting wiv this one, but gosh is it nice to look at. There's an oddly LBP2 feel to the whole affair, and i found myself just enjoying it throughout. Would have been a good pick for LittleBite-sizedPlanet, honestly.
youtube
We'll actually be talking about the follow up to this one next week, and the LBsP breakdown for this should be somewhere in here. Search the LBsP tag and that should turn it up? i hope? i know tumblr search is pretty pants.
youtube
A neat idea, and i really like the way the sandworm moves, but boy howdy was it a pain in the butt to actually engage wiv. i understand the need for a larger arena, just to keep track of where the thing is, but it makes things really hard to track, too. This is another Song 2 level, so i am doing this purely from memory, since i don't feel like digging out the media player to watch the archived file (i realize it's not really digging anything out, it's just that my laptop is VERY slow, and i have zero time this morning. Trying to do too many things at once).
youtube
This one's exactly what it says on the tin. It is unfinished. It has skellingtons. It is a level. Mineplanet is a fantastic kid, and i've known them pretty much forever now. Since they were an actual kid (well, teen, but that's pretty kid from this perspective), and i just hope to hell that life smiles on them. i mean, i hope that for most everyone, but this is a more personal hope, you know?
youtube
The set pieces in this one are so well done! Even if it's a bit limited, i still had a heckin' good time going through it. CB's great in just about everything i've seen them do, but it's nice that they're trying styles outside their previous usual wheelhouse. Nicer still that they're succeeding at them.
youtube
This one's a bit more hit-and-missy. Some of the dioramas do look really cool, but then you've got a few in there that just feel like filler added because trickyomicky had to have one for each biome. Still, i appreciate the ambition, and the difficulty of nailing down that many different ideas well. i'll be interested in seeing if this one gets filled out to cover the full series as promised.
youtube
i'll be honest, all i remember of this one was that it looked nice, and i didn't very much enjoy playing it.
--------------------------------------
i'm hecking sorry it took so long to get these up; and i know we've still got 351~365 to go, and it's gonna take a bit of time. So damn much to do, and no time to do it in, that's for sure. Take care, y'all! i love ya lots, but i gotta run!

Fig Fashion Week: Marie Claire - Zhehan with Umbrella
Zhang Zhehan is kicking off the next round of Fig Fashion Week, where Four Seasons Figthusiast will be showcasing both our boys in their most fashionable wear!
Zhehan starts us off in style with his Marie Claire photo shoot, wearing this lovely Bottega Veneta number.
Imagine being at a resort and seeing a photo shoot like this. Amazing!
I wish this video of Zhehan being super cute with the umbrella was just a little bit longer, so we could see more of his smile!
The umbrella was a separate, totally optional purchase. I assume it's a cost consideration to make the base figs more affordable, which I certainly appreciate. That being said, I feel like it's often the accessory items that make the look of the fig, and this one certainly completes the magazine look.
However, more creative minds than mine could have him hold other things - a big flower, or a leaf, or something fun. Oh! one of those big swirly lollipops would be super cute!
I'm not sure why I have these rare creative thoughts AFTER I've stuck the fig down on a base and taken all the photos. Maybe because my brain is permanently stuck in work spreadsheet mode after all these years.
Anyway! We're not talking about me here, we're talking about this fig set. Focus, Lelanthe!
Here's the underside of the umbrella. I'm not gonna lie, my heart sank a little when I saw this. Along with having lost my creativity around spreadsheet iteration 9 hundred and 40 million, my handy do-it-yourself capabilities have also atrophied down. Now it's all butterfingers and a total inability to see straight (to be fair, I couldn't measure straight even when I was a sprightly arts-and-crafting teen). Luckily, unlike the umbrellas in the It's Raining post, this handle actually slotted into the faux-straw umbrella perfectly. I thought about leaving it removable, and maybe securing it with some museum wax, but I've had one too many instances of being in another room and hearing a crash! and racing into my office, heart in my throat, to see a fig has come loose and toppled down the display like the world's smallest and deadliest bowling ball.
Can you imagine the havoc this umbrella would unleash if it came loose? It's so big too, so it would be on the very top of one of my display shelves, and oh wow I'm going to stop thinking about that right now. My precious figs!
So yeah, one day after work I carefully squeezed some glue into the little hole there, and concentrated on holding it very, very even until it set. I then let it cure for a day or two, just to make sure it was extra secure before fiddling around with clipping Zhehan's hands around it. I was tempted to also superglue his feet to the standee, but I figured I'd try using fig stickers for him and the umbrella first. Which I'm glad I did, since it feels quite sturdy.
And here he is, looking adorable! I'm so happy, I think it turned out perfect.
This would be a really cute fig to have in a beachy diorama and to cover the up the standee with sand. With Beach Jun! Hmm.
This is a good angle with the light falling on his feet to see how he's wearing the woven mules from the photoshoot. With socks, naturally. I know this was a stylistic choice by a professional stylist, but is it just me or do we seem to have a TON of photo shoots with him in socks?
I suddenly wondered if I had turned his umbrella handle knob the wrong way?!!? I zoomed back up to check in the inspiration photo, and oh sure, yeah, I sure did. Tangentially, do you know I have 11 years of post-graduate schooling? You can tell because of my crack attention to detail.
ANYWAY, I'm just gritting my teeth and moving on here because if there's one thing this fandom has taught me it's that imperfection actually can be the most perfect thing, so here we go.
The umbrella felt big and bulky when I was fussing around with it, but I think it's actually perfectly proportioned.
Zhang Laoshi, I must admit that your shorts in the inspiration picture are indeed respectably knee length - not like Junjun, walking around in mid-thigh shorts. However, in fig form, I gotta say you're flashing a whole lot of fig leg there, even with those long socks!
He kind of has to though - there's just not a lot of real estate for the fig body, so if the shorts are modeled knee length the socks would just end up tiny. I think the fig maker did a superb job of translating the pic into fig form.
Look at that sweet face! I love his quirky smiling mouth. That little artful bit of his bangs there is wonderful, and spot on from the inspiration pic. His hands look great here too, very beautifully modeled. What a cutie.
A top view - the detail on the straw umbrella is really very nice. Very sharp (not literally) and clean. It always amazes me how good the quality can get on these figs.
The box card makes me laugh. The golf range I get, but the rubber ducky? Smarter minds than mine!
The box is the multi-purpose one that also houses the Be a Boss fig (forthcoming) as well as the ?? fig that is Bamian Mountain God (also forthcoming!).
The umbrella box, however, is all it's own, and features some pretty cute and funny line drawings of an attractively posing dog and a very charming cat!
Material: PVC (both fig and umbrella)
Fig Count: 331
Scene Count: 24
Rating: Summer sunshine happiness!

today was alright for most of it but I got stressed and worried in the evening, Ben hasn't been sleeping well the last few days so I was kind of grimly waiting for the next breakdown anyway (didn't have to wait long 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻)and also period was really weird this month and won't fully go away and it's worrying meeee. then to have some nice chill hobby timeI decided to make a little diorama bed using Ben's technique BC I thought it was cute and wanted to see if I could do it and he kind of freaked out and thought I was replacing his bed with mine BC I didn't like his or whatever and I was like no???I said like 5 times I just wanted to do it to see if I could do it and I'll use yours in the bunker??? then he was like sweetie did you feel like I was muscling in on your territory and I was like no... BC I didn't feel like that lol... then he was like did you think I might abandon the project? and I was like yeah I thought you might, with no judgement just it's not his hobby is it?!?! it's mine so like yeah I think there is a higher risk of him getting bored than me getting bored with it so it's not the worst thing to know how to do it anyway lol
I got a bit frustrated BC it was literally not at all a big deal in my mind, couldn't understand why he was making it into one especially when I was already feeling a bit shit and emotionally fraught and then had to like put my own feelings aside to comfort him BC he started crying when I got frustrated (which just happens sometimes in a very ltr tbh like sometimes you're both gonna be in a bad mood and you just have to deal with it lol)
I got him some more nytol earlier so hopefully he'll sleep better tonight and be less insane tomorrow. BC I'm feeling frazzled and it's my turn
here is the bed that caused the issue btw lol I mean I kind of don't want to look at it now HAHA BC of all the drama it caused for no reason but I wasn't too mad at it for a first go! I think if painted it would be cooler too but I didn't have the paint I want (sort of metallic silver blue) I also made the mattress!
