if i had a nickel each time a female character played by aj would disregard luke's character having a bad omen about the future, i would have three nickels, which is not a lot but makes it way too funny to be true

Blackfoot might be cool to see
Requested + (surprising) winner of the last poll!
If I had a nickel for every ShadowClan leader with vitiligo… I would have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.
Tumblr media
BLACKSTAR
“I killed one traitor today, and now I'm ready to kill another.”
[Black colorpoint with vitiligo and slate-blue eyes.]
I didn’t have a whole lot of vision in mind when designing him outside of the idea that he’s a colorpoint with vitiligo…
So I just kind of winged it, and I actually quite like how he turned out! Definitely not a favorite by any means, but one I’m satisfied with + stands out a bit from other Blackstar designs.
Design notes!
Blue eyes! (Since every point cat has blue eyes, I had to pick a color for Blackstar, despite always envisioning him with amber. My designs certainly aren’t genetically accurate by any means, but I like sticking to some rules, and this faded shade of blue really suits him, I think.) They were brighter in his youth.
Colorpoint with vitiligo! Which I find truly funny because it means he’s never been fully black in his life.
Six toes on each forepaw.
Black hind paws, and three black toes on his left forepaw and just one on his right.
Thickset body that easily packs on muscle, but due to how little he ate in his life, he’s a little more lithe and underweight than he should be.
Slightly stylized to look like a badger for Reasons.
Docked tail is a sign of a Brokenstar loyalist.
Scarring includes: Slash mark across his face. Thick scars across his right shoulder and on his spine (both mirrored on his other side). Smaller cuts across his muzzle, cheek, right foreleg, and haunches. One completely shredded ear, one tattered and torn ear. Docked tail.

FIFTY TO SIXTY THOUGHTS NOW
aaaa scary
ok i will comply but only because now this is a bit instead of just random
fuck i just knocked my phone over while i was taking off my headphones
i should take out the trash
tea is cool they should make more tea
oh right i was getting drunk i totally forgot and i have half a spiked drink at my desk
i wish my teddy bear would sit up well but the ds's between its legs mean it falls over a lot due to how the leg joints work
wow i have three ds's on this desk right now that's weird
my friend left her pocketknife over and i should really give it back to her
it's a really nice pocketknife but i dont wanna use someone else's pocketknife so i should ask her where she got it
fuck coming up with 60 thoughts is hard
i need to take more instant photographs i have one i took of a friend's tsukihi plush on the bulletin board over my desk
why did i say "friend" you know exactly who im talking about
is it weird that i have a bulletin board over my desk
theres a little shelf under that bulletin board and on it i have two 3d prints, one of a marker switch from myst and one that's a lithophane of the cover of the downward spiral by nine inch nails and i think it's interesting that despite the fact that i asked a friend to print the lithophane years before i got a 3d printer you could reasonably assume i printed both of them
wow that was a thought that took way too much time to expalin
theres a lot of guitar maintenance equipment at my desk which is weird cuz i typically do that stuff at my couch rather than here
jesus christ theres too much stuff on my desk
i dont even need this string winder cuz there's a better string winder literally right next to it
i think ive used that tuning pipe like once
theres also an ace ring right next to them and i think that's funny
when i bought this flashlight i was debating whether to get this pretty decent one or a really fancy expensive one and a friend said "get the expensive one and brag about it on r/flashlights" which immediately convinced me to get the pretty decent one
i also have a set of security screwdriver heads at my desk which my dad got for me and i remember him telling me that he went to the hardware store asking for security heads and they scoffed and went "if you could just buy those they wouldn't work" so he went home and bought two sets off the internet and i thought that was funny
i hope you're reading this in the tone of Jory in that one episode of the ten minute power hour where Arin sits him on his lap and painstakingly grills him about his favorite pokemon and it gets really awkward
wow that sounds really weird when i describe it like that
fuck im not even halfway done
if i had a nickel for every thought im gonna post here i would have $3 which isnt very much money
i got a humidifier recently because it's really dry in my room and im not used to anything in here moving besides me so i keep seeing the stream of fog fog out of the corner of my eye and going AH ! INTRUDER !
that's not a bespoke thought for this thread i posted that on a discord server earlier today does that still count
it's annoying how i have to turn off my vpn whenever i try to go on rateyourmusic because it thinks im trying to ddos them or something
i dont even rate my music i just go there to get an overview of what an artist's most liked albums are so i can get into them easier
that's why im getting into current 93 through sleep has his house rather than thunder perfect mind despite the fact that i think literally everyone except rym agrees that thunder perfect mind is better
though now that i look at it they're only 0.01 off so its not like that discrepancy is that weird
with all of the bonus tracks bandcamp has, thunder perfect mind is as long as swans' soundtracks for the blind and i think that's funny
long albums are cool and i should listen to more of them, some of my favorites that ive listened to recently can't fit on a cd
it's funny that "fitting on a cd" is my criterion for "long" when i havent been an active cd collector for quite a while, i guess that just kinda wormed its way into my brain
oh we're getting enough text in this post to make the editor lag that's scary i hope it'll be good for another 23 thoughts
hey 23 is the number of thoughts i had last time i commented on how many thoughts i needed to post
shit, no it wasn't, it was 26, i really should have checked
wow i hope this is interesting to read
how many words is this at this point i need to check
it's 875 as of that last thought not including bullet points, i think that's more than the number of words ive written for my actual writing in the past few weeks
since pages hold around 250 words that means you would need four pages (ceiling) to write as much as i had written by thought 41
will people understand what i mean when i say "ceiling" i hope so
i wonder how many words this will be when im done
i think i can estimate with that other word count
since 41 is roughly 2/3rds of 60, that means that the amount of words this will have at the end will be 875*1.5 which is 1312
holy shit that's the based number
i lied it's 1312.5 i just rounded it down so it would be the based number
wow it's REALLLLY starting to lag now i wonder if the text editor's unoptimizedness is exponential for some reason
at this point im in the 50s and you asked for 50-60 so i could reasonably stop here but i kind of already committed to 60 so i can't really
i wonder if this is what you expected when you sent this ask
probably not but i mean i don't know what else you could have expected, maybe just me brushing this off aloofly
i wish i had more money so i could buy more music
it's kind of weird that i buy music right like whenever i talk about this to people theyre like oh i just use spotify or youtube or whatever but im weird and neurotic and like owning things too much
it is so laggy now that sometimes ill make a typo and then correct it and then only see all of that happen like 10 seconds later
i wonder if it's weird that i can correct typos without actually seeing what i typed like i just Know
oh shit im nearing the end now i gotta make this count
i wonder what "making this count" means in this context like how would i make the final thought "epic" theyre just thoughts this has been a total stream of consciousness it's not really building to anything

Meet this chucklefuck
His name is Pascal Short for Giuseppe Pascallis Jaleppino Edvard Stefano Dimitri Jaloro Pepperman-Spaghetti
That's right, you read the surnames correctly. He is a Pepperino fankid
ramble and more drawings under the cut if you managed to survive the first part
If I had a nickel for everytime I made fankids, I would have two. Which isn't a lot but it is weird that it happened twice.
And brother? I'm happy about it jsrgksrb
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pascal is a jaloro pepper and since his parents are so shit at naming him, they straight up put his pepper type as a name. but yes, they're a real thing and they're so cute. Jaloros are just yellow jalapenos
I also tried to make him simultaneously look like a pepper and a mango to complement how Pepperman looks like an apple. but also while drawing the sprite mock ups, I realized that at a certain pose he sorta looks like a pizza slice. I win either way bfsjbgksjr
He does not want to be an artist or a chef but he does have the inherited naturality of both which landed him a job as a barista. and of course, he could only work for one place which is the Noisette Cafe. It kinda gave him a little trouble getting hired cuz 1.) Peppino does not like how his son is about to work for his rival's girlfriend and 2.) Noisette is fucking terrified of Pepperman. You think she's gonna let his son who is one foot taller work for her 😭
But still, Noisette is way too kind that Peppino forgets why he has a problem with her and Pascal is way softer than both his dads surprisingly. It's ironic how Peppino and Pepperman are these barbarians of people and their kid ended up being the forestcore aestethic. He is never beating the allegations lmao, he's gonna be THAT softboy
But don't get me wrong, he can be a combination brutal and berserk when pissed off. He still has the same strength as his dads, mind you. Mostly Pepperman's brute and Peppino's street smarts
And their patience too.
People expect him to be as manly lol but like nahh he just wanna chill and be a nerd dork
And if anyone's wondering, it was obviously Pepperman who spawned him. In the human au tho? I have a perfect answer for that lmao. ahem
My Pepperman has and always been intersex lmao. That is it, that is all you need to know how Pascal can theoretically be made
Plants being plants man, they're really weird. Pepper is simultaneously mom, dad, uncle, and aunt lmao. Tho Pas calls him both mom and dad because it would be so fucking funny and he calls Peppino papi
He's very tender mostly cuz he did not inherit Pepperman's narcissism but he did inherit that kindness that Pepperman tries so hard to hide. And of course, Peppino's anxiety and impulses.
As a kid, Peppino is the brooding hen between him and Phil. He'd be the one who double checks triple checks if it's safe to let baby Pascal do his thing.
Pepperman on the other hand, he holds baby Pas like a rubber ball. Peppino tries not to get his kid killed because of how his wife holds it 😭
Oh also in a few of em, you can see little interactions with @beefy-the-stronk's Jude. They're simultaneously cousins and siblings. Also don't question it. Just imagine there's two Peppermans gbsjbgrksj
Also Gustavo is the godfather. I only had Pascal for three days but I would die for him
Anyway, if you made it this far, I thank you but alas. That is all for now bgjsbgjksr

It’s so funny to me when Monk is gone Leland gets so angry
“WHERES MONK?!”
Then after Monk is found he pretends nothing ever happened. Like dude we get it your protective no need to hide it.
Also in the one episode where Monk is buried in a coffin (if I had a nickel for every time Monk got buried alive I’d have 2 which isn’t a lot but it’s strange it happened twice)
Leland yanks the guy out of his truck and throws him onto the hood of the car. He’s so aggressive when his lover is in trouble it’s adorable.
Also before I watched season three i was weirded out
“Ew why do people ship these 2? They have nothing in common lol”
*watches season 3 cabin fever*
“Now I understand that was just gay”
Anyways how’s your summer going?
Me again!
hello dear <3! welcome back, apologies for the late reply!
it is so damn endearing as well isn't it. you pick a bone with Monk and you inevitably and unknowingly pick a bone with Stottlemeyer too!
if I had a nickel for every time Monk got buried alive I’d have 2 which isn’t a lot but it’s strange it happened twice -> 😂😂 omf, right?
😭😭 honestly i don't blame anyone if they'd take off running at the sight of Leland. he already looks like he could bury you for just existing and now put hands on his man, you're in for HELL. that guy would have dealt with wayyyy worse if he didn't have a heart attack - which is probably why they made him have one or why he did have one *wheeze*.
LMFAO YEAH. Mr. Monk Gets Cabin Fever had everyone who wasn't already thinking it swiveling their heads and those who were drowned even further. like those longing stares? adoration??? don't even get me started XD.
just LOOK. so married.
Tumblr media
otherwise, my summer started out rather lamely, i got sick and still am and i'm facing a small writer's block ORZ. but so far, so good! i hope your summer is going well hehe <3.

if I had a nickel for every time I kin two characters in one fandom, I would have 3 nickels. which isn't a lot, but its weird it happened three times.
reference aside its really weird. most of the time, those two characters interact a lot too, so the memories do get a bit confusing, even if they have distinct personalities. and funny enough, I always prefer one over the other, because the less favored one represent my imperfections more.... that's why I usually only mention one of them, lol.

If I had a nickel for every time someone made Lumine a mother, Id have three nickels which isn't a lot but it's funny that it happened thrice.
Jokes aside, could you elaborate on Lumine being a mother?
Please don't feel forced to answer this ask.
HI I LIKE TO TALK ABOUT MY THOUGHTS SO BET!!
so this idea is partly because i’m in a constant state of “aww babies” and partly because i really like to hurt my own feelings with angst
so my thoughts will be kinda unorganized with this but please bear with me
so cause i get a little obsessive with my hyperfixations and works (fics) i need to know everything about the background of characters so i can really understand them to make them more interesting
and the twins don’t have a whole lotta canon lore on them, like yeah they have the alien thing going for them and the implications that they are immortal beings that isn’t really touched on but totally should be
so i really made up a whole lot of their background from theories i both read and came up with mixed with a bunch of headcanons because it’s canon until proven otherwise
so for lumine being a mom:
her and aether’s world was full of immortal people and was destroyed either by war or some form of apocalypse or something so they travel to other worlds maybe trying to find one that replicates the homey feel they had when they lived on their home planet
i imagine they were rather young, as in young for their people vs young as in our/teyvat standards. to me that’s between 500-700 years old, and their aging/maturing is sorta similar to elves from dnd only they continue to live until they fall in battle, vaguely Highlander style only they don’t have to be beheaded to die, they can die from a stab wound or something
but i imagine that they found their peace/new home at one point, not exactly early in their travels, but much much earlier than teyvat if that makes sense? like, they were traveling for at least a few hundred years before reaching this planet
so finding the similar feeling in this new world they land in, the two decide to make it their new home
now this is because i like angst and there is nothing more tragic than losing your child imo
but lumine totally fell for this person on this planet, and despite them being mortal, this was the twins new home so she pursues this romance with them and they end up having a single child (daughter and i call her Étoile because that means star and it kinda sorta fits the light names of the twins) together
well the both of them (étoile and the partner) are mortal, so lumine watches them grow older until they eventually die of natural causes (and she probably has grandkids so that line kinda continues on that planet) and she hates the feeling of losing them, especially her baby, so they (the twins) end up leaving that planet
this starts their “we’re only here to observe” thing so they continue to travel from world to world, still searching for that feeling of home in each one, but deciding to stick to themselves instead of getting involved with others because that only ends up hurting them in the end
but yeah, plus i feel like it adds more to her and paimon’s relationship (i chose lumine as the traveler when i started playing so to me she’s the canon traveler, and i use that in my fics)
because yeah, they’re best friends and have a big sis/little sis relationship, but if lumine also sees aspects of her daughter when her child was young in paimon then it adds more ✨flavor✨ to them
plus paimon does act sorta childish, like a talkative toddler yk? but it would add to her fun lil protective attitude towards the mysterious flying pixie creature that is paimon
i also think it adds more potential and character to lumine in fics because she probably really loves children and despite the pain behind the memories of her daughter, she wouldn’t want to forget her, so seeing bits of her (common traits in children) live on in other children kinda wooshes her a little?
but yeahhhh~

@writingrosesonneptune | @kaylinalexanderbooks
Under the cut cuz there's a lot of questions
Tumblr media
What is your absolute all-time favorite idea you’ve ever had?
Pretty much all three of my main wips, and a lot of my fandom ocs. I'm obsessed with all the ideas my genius brain comes up with. The execution of said ideas... not so much, but we're getting there XD.
Is there a question you’ve been asked in the past that really stands out to you, and you still think about sometimes?
...Not that I can think of, I have terrible memory 😅
What is your favorite part of being a writer? What parts could you take or leave?
I love playing with my characters like dolls and writing descriptive (and sometimes funny) flowery imagery. The editing on the other hand... I could easily leave that behind.
What is your greatest motivation to write/create?
It's like an itch that I need to scratch. If i can't express it and share the joy with others, I'll explode.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever read or been given as a writer?
Cringe is dead, write whatever you want forever. Some practical advice: if you're struggling with getting the words out, try writing sprints or a program that turns writing down words into a game. also try writing while standing up or while using standing desk with a walking pad (i have a standing desk and walking pad and i highly highly recommend, especially for ADHD)
What do you wish you knew when you were first starting out writing?
You have big dreams and huge ideas, which is good... but maybe start smaller? Actually, just write whatever you want while you still have the ability to pump out thousands of words a day... Cringe is dead, be free 12 year old me
What is your favorite story you’ve written to completion? Link it if you’d like and can!
I haven't finished anything in my life, not even any of my fanfictions which are longfics that span entire series/franchises 😅 (all of them are still ongoing)
Which of your characters would you say has the most controversial mindset? Why do you say so, and how do you personally feel about their ideals?
Hmm.... any of the characters from TCIO or Galaxy Destroyer, but especially Nickelle. The morals and motivations are complicated :D
If you, when you first started writing, met you now, what would younger you think?
12 year old me would be a bit confused about the changes I've made to the stories, but excited nonetheless, especially about all the dark stuff (I was a weird child that liked stuff like torture and death and the black plague or egyptian mummification process XD)

Hold my hand, we've made it to the end of my 2024 book reviews.
61) Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix (4.5⭐)
Grady Hendrix is very quickly carving out a place in my heart. This one wasn’t quite as good as How To Sell A Haunted House for me, but still really great.
This story is a really fun approach to the final girl concept, basically saying “what if all those 80’s slasher horrors were based on true events, and the final girls were real people?” and then looks at where these women are at years or decades on from their own personal nightmares. It’s funny because at face value it’s such a goofy concept, but the author keeps everything so grounded in reality that it never feels that way. The story was fun and fast paced and I really enjoyed it, and though I will say the ending felt slightly anticlimactic, that didn’t really spoil my enjoyment of it as a whole.
Also, not to praise men for the bare minimum but I do think Grady Hendrix does a great job of writing women. When I read his other book I didn’t even realise the author was a man until I looked him up, and the same applies here. It gives whatever the opposite of “men writing women” energy usually is.
62) Garth Marenghi’s Incarcerat by Matthew Holness (4⭐)
Garth Marenghi is a bit of a hard one to sell to people, because I feel like we’re about four levels deep into the lore at this point so I’ll just keep it short for this review and if you want to know more about the gmcu (Garth Marenghi cinematic universe) then send me a message and I’ll be happy to explain.
For now I’ll just say that I enjoyed this book a lot, but it wasn’t as good as the first one.
63) Feast While You Can by Onjuly Datta and Mikaella Clements (5⭐)
Ohohoho.
Another sapphic horror, thank you Jesus. This one follows a woman named Angelina, who grew up in and loves her tiny, closed off home town, but one day finds herself possessed by the monster that’s been living at the bottom of a cave. The monster wants to feed on her memories, and the only thing that seems capable of staving it off is her brother’s ex, who also happens to be the most beautiful butch to ever grace this earth.
This was gorgeously written, a great story, great twists that I didn’t predict, and the climax was just perfect. I’m trying so hard to be restrained here because I could yap on about this for ages but then I’d start spoiling things and I think this book should be experienced as blind as possible.
Side note there’s also a lot of explicit sex in this so if that’s something you avoid then this might not be for you.
64) The Whistling by Rebecca Netley (4.5⭐)
Classic “woman moves to an isolated Scottish island to take on a nanny position and finds that everything here is fucking weird” story.
Did this book do anything particularly unique? No not really, but I did give it an extra half a star because I didn’t correctly guess who the true bad guy was until the very last second, which always adds to the fun. If you want some classic ghosty, creepy house horror to read then this is definitely a good one to check out.
65) Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield (4⭐)
One thing about me is that I love the trope of someone coming back wrong. Whether it’s back from the dead, back from space, or, in this case, back from an extended, unplanned trip to the very bottom of the ocean.
Not A lot I can really say about this one without really getting into spoilers, but I really liked it. I really enjoyed the writing style and just… the way things and feelings were described. It was really well done, really creepy. A lot of things were sort of left unexplained but I think that was intentional rather than an oversight.
66) Scuttle by Barnaby Walter (DNF)
If I had a nickel for every bad spider themed horror book I read this year, I would have three nickels, which isn’t a lot but again it’s weird that it happened three times.
You remember The Dinner Guest by B P Walter? Turns out this was written by the same guy. And you remember how I said that book was great except for the parts where we focused in on the teenage boy? Well…
This book is dual pov, written partly from the perspective of the dad and partly from the perspective of his teenage son, and, yeah, I had the same issues multiplied tenfold. I think I got about a quarter of the way through before tapping out, because it was just cringe. Teenagers do not act or speak in the ways they were in this book and it just made reading it impossible for me. On top of that, the story was nonsensical. I won’t spoil it for you but just know I skipped to the end to satisfy my curiosity and ended up laughing out loud.
67) Monstrilio by Gerardo Sámano Córdova (5⭐)
This was another book that rewired my brain chemistry, and I really don’t know if it hit me the way it was intended to, but my god did it hit me.
The story is predominantly about grief. A mother cuts a chunk of lung from the body of her dead son, and ends up raising it until it eventually grows into a person… sort of. The creature (Monstrilio) is blood thirsty, wild, and always hungry, but with the help of her family and close friend, she is able to mold him into roughly the shape of her deceased son.
The book is split into four parts, each from a different perspective as we follow Monstrilio’s development. The first part is from the mother’s perspective as she removes her son’s lung and is able to give it a new kind of sentience. Then we follow her friend Lena’s perspective as the lung becomes sort of a wild animal that they have to domesticate. We follow some of Monstrilio’s adolescence through the perspective of his father, and then the final part is told from Monstrilio’s perspective.
As I said, the book is about grief, about the ways it impacts this family over the course of Monstrilio’s upbringing, and it would have easily been a 4 star read from me anyway. But my god. Monstrilio’s perspective at the end hit me where I fucking live. I won’t give anything away here, but if you’re someone who feels like they constantly have to put on a mask to hide some “monstrous” part of themselves, this book will punch you right in the gut. In a positive way. Sort of.
68) Revival by Stephen King (4⭐)
You know I couldn’t abandon my boy for too long. This book was such classic Steven King, focused almost entirely on the long, drawn out building of suspense before punching you in the face multiple times in quick succession in the final chapters.
If you haven’t heard of this one before, the book is essentially a man retelling the story of his life, revolving predominantly around a priest he met as a child and then continued running into throughout his adult life. This priest has a passion for electricity, specifically its healing powers, and I promise you it does not go the way you’re expecting it to. Okay, it sort of does, but then it really doesn’t. This book almost got 3 stars until I read that final climax, shook my head solemnly, and said “Steven, you crazy son of a bitch, you got me again”.
69) Blight by Tom Carlisle (3.5⭐)
More surprise queer horror! The queerness is not at all the focal point in this book, but it was a nice touch.
This book is about fae, and not the kind from ACOTAR. I will say one slight issue I had with this book was that the antagonistic fae king is known amongst the village folk as “the Tall Man” and described as wearing a top hat, which kept making me think of the benadryl meme. That aside, this was an enjoyable story. The classic “fairy comes to collect the firstborn children of the household” story. It was nothing special and didn’t do anything particularly unique for me, but it was a fun read.
My main hangup with this book was that we went back and forward in time a lot, but there was no real indicator for this. I wish there could have been a “past” and “present” indicator along with the chapter numbers or something just to make it a bit easier to follow.
70) The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw (5⭐)
Loved, loved, loved. This was SUCH an improvement on the previous novella I read (Nothing But Blackened Teeth). This had everything I want from horror novellas. I absolutely love the way this author writes prose, and this novella is predominantly prose because the main character is a mermaid who can’t speak for about half of the book. This story is essentially about a mermaid and her unlikely companion (a nonbinary plague doctor no less) who find themselves stumbling upon a woodland society of people who worship three “saints”. It’s hard to give much more than that without giving up the whole plot as it is a very short book, but so much action is packed in, and it doesn’t feel like anything is rushed or left hanging. It’s an absolute little gem.

Seren's Studies: Odd Squad UK -- "Planes, Trains, and Oddmobiles" Episode Followup, Part 1
Tumblr media
Can you believe it took them 10 years to make this punny title? I can't either! But it's here now, and I'm all for it.
This time it's "Planes, Trains, and Oddmobiles", oh my! Let's send another prayer for a good episode below the break.
Tumblr media
Now you know my mind is warped when I look at this and my first thought is "weird graveyard with three tombstones".
Tumblr media
*low groan that ekes into a mournful glass-shattering scream*
I don't think I need to elaborate on how this episode will go.
Tumblr media
O...kay. I don't think we've ever had any staff credit on the right of the episode before, and I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe it's because the beakers are in-frame on the left, but...they're not relevant, so...
Tumblr media
these were abandoned eggs
mama wants them back
Either the Huggle Monster has some incredibly corrupted child-rearing habits, or this was purely accidental.
I know for a damn fact they will not elaborate, so theorize away, folks.
Tumblr media
If I had a nickel for every Scientist who was proficient in sewing as a way to defy gender norms, I'd have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot, but it's fuck-all insane that it's happened twice now.
Tumblr media
Guy's fittin' t' blow a lung if he keeps doin' that.
Tumblr media
They tell him to hurry with the tone of "we're gonna get shat on" but without the urgency of "OH FUCK SHE'S GONNA EAT US".
Tumblr media
See, but the funny thing is that they are in a desolate area with three rocks that look like tombstones and y'know if I try hard enough they might be symbo-

Remember when entering the tubes had simple rules? Like "don't eat while riding" and "turn off all your electronics"?
Yeah, Omar's giving a "fuck you and your grandma" to that shit and bringing up a manual that has never been mentioned before. (There was Tube Safety and You from "The O Games", but that was about positioning yourself on the ride through. This is not that book.)
And it's so unbelievably stupid because, even in spite of the episode's name, you're telling me we can't get an 11-minute episode where it's Onom in the tubes? We got an 11-minute episode about the tubes in Season 1, GTFOH!
Tumblr media
"I'm sure the Odd Squad Airline would love to help!"
I was going to make a comment on how fucking gobsmacked I was and how silly this was, but then I realized that Odd Squad is a pseudo-government organization and so of course they would have their own goddamn airline with their own goddamn private planes.
...Huh. I wonder if that's why the Task Force Department had a plane in "Overdue"?
Tumblr media
OH F-FYACK OH GOD IT'S A HUMANIZED AIRPLANE OFUCKGEE.
Thank God they fixed the audio mixing here because otherwise my level of "I'm disturbed" would be extremely high from the plehn zoom sound alone.
Tumblr media
Ohhhh...so this is Agent Ockpit. Honestly, I had expected her to turn up in another episode. Not in...whatever this hot mess is becoming.
That aside, though...Odd Air? Spelled like that or OddAir? I mean even putting aside that there's a fucking Plane department (actual Flight department?)...I'm more keen on spelling it out fully.
Tumblr media
"...and the suitcase is made from my special weightless material."
Can't be too weightless if it's still abiding by the laws of the planet's gravity, Onom. That's what we call a skill issue.
Tumblr media
"I'm sorry, but each suitcase can't weigh more than 5 pounds."
Checking...weight limits are in double digits...so this is soME HORSESHIT-
Tumblr media
Okay, this shit made me cackle just for how I wasn't expecting Ockpit to tell him his flight is leaving in one minute.
Plehn I have not been on at all, but you'd think she'd tell him when the flight is leaving when he tried to book it. Basic common sense.
Tumblr media
Ohhhh, so this is from the POV of the Huggle Monster. Yeah, that- that makes sense. Mmm two pieces of candy and a weird box thing.
Tumblr media
They have books for everything under the sun that Twilight Sparkle would be jealous of, Jesus Christ.
Tumblr media
Oh God...either this could go like in "Trials and Tubulations" or this could go like in "When Seren Cringes So Hard Her Organs Fold Into Themselves".
Tumblr media
Aaaaand it's a vote for the latter!
The catch, of course, is that Asha Soetan is actually a professional dancer outside of Odd Squad. Isaac Kragten and Glee Dango got to show off their chops, so what's the director's excuse for her?
Tumblr media
"Here comes the robot dance."
Somewhere, Oswald is seething by way of "SHE'S DANCING NORMALLY!!"
Tumblr media
"One day, my robot dance will save us. Just like in "Oswald in the Machine" where-"
"Is now really the time to be bringing up past episodes?!"
"Right, right. My bad."
Tumblr media
I'll admit, this episode hasn't made me laugh much so far...but Orli's becoming a strong contender for the comedy award for this round.
Tumblr media
Ahhh, there it is. The "we're gonna get eaten" bit. That's the bitch. That's what I was hopin' for!
Tumblr media
Either OddAir has some hella good leg room in a way not seen since the late 20th century, or this plane is hella crowded because they don't put all the suitcases up above the seats and under the plane and all that.
Also, dude got a seat where the row looks to be entirely empty. And plehn I have not been on, but that just barely seems possible.
(I'm choosing to ignore that we're getting another sleeping agent because at this point Omar is a man who needs a doctor and the law a sleep study.)
Tumblr media
Even he's quoting the contrived-ass manual? GTFOH.
Tumblr media
Oh. Yes. What I most want in my kids franchise about children in suits fighting oddness.
A POSSIBILITY OF FUCKING PLANE CRASHES.
Y'know, at least when Oprah's office had oxygen masks to breathe in, it was funny. Whether there will be a crash or not, this just made that age like milk left in the heat for three hours.
Tumblr media
"So I'm afraid we'll be landing early, and hiding under our beds."
Ohhhh pilot, sweet summer child, if only you knew.
Tumblr media
America has screaming children, people asking others to give up their seats for their children, and the most PR statements to ever PR when something goes wrong with no reimbursements.
The UK gives you free rail tickets if something goes wrong with your flight.
God Save Good Flying.
Tumblr media
All right, I'm starting to see why that girl in the back looks like Olive.
One can dream...but it's not Olive.
(On to Part 2!)

I'm on a Marco kick now. Here's the start of my Marco Animorphs playlist I'm now apparently putting together (songs are grouped together thematically). 90s only for that extra animorphs vibe.
General Marco Vibes

Ironic (by Alanis Morissette) - "And life has a funny way of helping you out when you think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up in your face."
Flexy Boy (by Merrill Nisker (Peaches before she was Peaches)) - "Flexy boy! Flexiable! Changes shape!"
Burning Rubber (by Mr. Mirainga) - "When I'm drivin' my speed demon machine, flyin', three digits, man. Nothin' you've ever seen. Cam and crankshaft turning. Smell the engine burnin'."
Girls and Boys (by Blur) - "Girls who are boys who like boys to be girls who do boys like they're girls, who do girls like they're boys."
Clever (by Jill Sobule) - "I can be clever, I can be clever. I can charm your pants off, I can be clever. I can be funny, I can make you laugh."
I'm gonna be rich and famous
Supermodel (by Jill Sobule) - "And my hair will shine like the sea. And every one will wanna look just like me 'cause I'm young and I'm hip, so beautiful."
Perfect World (by Liz Phair) - "I wanna be cool, tall, vulnerable, and luscious. I would have it all if I'd only had this much."
Throw My Name (by Merrill Nisker (Peaches before she was Peaches)) - "I want to walk into a room and not have to explain who I am or what I do because people will know my name."
I'm not always easy to be around
Have You Ever (by The Offspring) - "Have you ever buried your face in your hands 'Cause no one around you understands Or has the slightest idea what it is that makes you be?"
Basket Case (by Green Day) - "Neurotic to the bone, no doubt about it. Sometimes I give myself the creeps. Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me. It all keeps adding up. I think I'm cracking up. Am I just paranoid?"
Answers (by Goldfinger) - "That's when I realize, that I see what I'm really selling. You tell me where your skeleton's hiding. Tell me all and I'll tell you. You think you have a real good fucking answer, a fucking answer I'll give you."
If I had a nickel for every time I tried to kill my mom, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
Walking On Broken Glass (by Annie Lennox) - "Since you abandoned me, my whole life has crashed. Won't you pick the pieces up, 'cause it feels just like I'm walking on broken glass."
Disarm (by Smashing Pumpkins) - "I used to be a little boy, so old in my shoes. And what I choose is my choice. What's a boy supposed to do? The killer in me is the killer in you."
The Climb (by No Doubt) - "Although many failed I must now prevail with no questions. Have no time to stop, onward to the top of the mountain. I can't turn back now."
Wish (by Nine Inch Nails) - "Climbed up real high, now fall down real far. No need for me to stay. The last thing left, I just threw it away. I put my faith in God and my trust in you. Now there's nothing more fucked up I could do. [...] I'm the one without a soul, I'm the one with this big fucking hole."
It's Not That Serious (by Jennifer Lopez) - "It should concern you, that I'm always one step ahead of you. So that should let you know that what you do I have done before, it's nothing new. So run those games on someone who can be fooled."
Come Home (by Placebo) - "Come home, come home, come home, come home, come home, come home, come home, come home."

@friendly-books oh god I'm about to have three nickels-- sorry for the entire post dedicated to this but I needed to explain in a way that was not about to be limited by character reply limit; ok how to explain-- so in Les Mis there are two characters that feature throughout the book; these two men are Javert and Jean Valjean.
Javert is a blueprint character; the inspiration for Donald Morgan if that explains his character for you (specifically). He is an inspector/cop and he follows the law to the very letter. Extremely Lawful Neutral. Extraordinarily earnest bootlicker; he genuinely thinks that is what he should do for the betterment of society.
Valjean is literally just a guy. Extremely strong and clever guy, "rough mind with a gentle heart", but still just a guy. This was a guy who broke a law when he was like 27, went to prison for 19 years, and when he got out broke parole and commits crimes for the betterment of other peoples lives (like breaking into houses and giving money in the dead of night during his stint as mayor). He's a big sweetheart with a whole lot of issues and PTSD. Where Javert is described as being so honest that you can look into his eyes and see all the way to the bottom of his conscience, Valjean is very secretive and keeps his emotions very close to his chest, not even letting his daughter know how he feels. He's a very sad old man. I love him.
But the reason I say "tragic/toxic old man yaoi" on that post is because throughout the book you can get the sense that Javert has.. a bit of a crush. Just a smidgen. Referring to Valjean as his convict, and watching him flee (thinking he had him caught [he did not because Valjean is extremely slippery and VERY GOOD AT ESCAPING THE LAW; specifically Javert]) simply because seeing him free was interesting to him. For example, one of my favorite lines is
"When he had so unexpectedly encountered Jean Valjean on the banks of the Seine, there had been in him something of the wolf which regains his grip on his prey, and of the dog who finds his master again."
Girl there are so many things wrong with you (breathless w/ affection)
But meanwhile Valjean sees him as a doggishly persistent hound/slave of the law chasing him all the while. Javert gets alllll the dog motifs. It's very funny because it's a resigned if slightly terrified "ah its this guy again, the one guy who knows my entire history" while he's running for his life.
But back on track (ahah get it), Javert has a chapter called "Javert Derailed" where he basically realizes that arresting Valjean when all he does is good would be morally incorrect, but NOT arresting Valjean would be LAWFULLY incorrect, so what's he supposed to do??; He is stuck in between a mental rock and a hard place-- so he chooses the third option of "well I refuse to be in a world where I'm forced to make that choice of letting a good man live his life and still be cop due to it being against the law"; Death. Now throughout the book, Victor Hugo points very viciously at the blue curtains with references to drowning men, the blue of the state (uniform), and water in slightly oblique ways. Which is how we come back to the yin and yang thing due to he dies. Another thing about Javert is he's very passionate about what he does and does things I associate with bright fire, and how can you douse fires? Water. So he would be Yang (aggressive, independent, self-sufficient, associated with the heaven [in the book, specifically with the archangel michael, and then of course he Fell, so Lucifer], with the center of Yin). Yin would be Valjean (quiet, aloof, earth, winter, but with center of Yang).
I hope this was coherent I'm so sorry if this is what gets you into this fandom; we have cookies

The Star Beast
[SPOILERS AHEAD]
DOCTOR WHO SAID NONBINARY RIGHTS AND GENDER NONCONFORMING RULES!!!!!!!!
So. DoctorDonna is BACK. With a trans daughter, an absolutely wholesome husband, and a mellowed out mother!!!! What a BLAST that was, seeing her on screen again! It's what she deserves! FIFTEEN YEARS we've been asking justice for Donna Noble, and RTD delivered!!!!
(Also, is it me, or has Catherine Tate NOT aged at all?)
I'm super excited, that first special episode was awesome.
The Meep was terrifying and hilarious, even when they were being all cute, my very first reaction was "yeah, no, don't trust". Shoutout to Miriam Margolyes for the voice acting, that was perfect!
I loved that the Wrarth Warriors were so polite and official posh, with their look, it was super funny and interesting to watch and hear.
Oh, shoutout to our new UNIT liaison officer, Science Advisor 56 Shirley Anne Bingham! She sounds like the life of the party. I hope we get more of her (and her badass wheelchair).
I hope we get to see Wilf, it's so good that he's still alive, Bernard Cribbins is missed.
"Something that a male-presenting Time Lord wouldn't know to do" sent me OFF, lmao, also thank you RTD for all the references to Thirteenth, she WAS amazing and she deserves to be remembered.
Rose Noble is amazing and precious. She's going to grow up and be a brilliant, badass, amazing woman. That moment when she tells the Meep she feels lonely because she feels different hit right in the feels. Also her face when the stupid schoolboys bully her and call her deadname. [Personal aside: I argued with my mother today in amongst other things because she insists on calling me my full name version, which I don't like, instead of the diminutive, which is my chosen name - and she said "I named you Raphaelle, with the 'elle' ('she' in French, which, nope) at the end, very important", and that made me flinch so hard; please don't gender me, it's Rapha and that's it. Anyway, I'm glad to see more trans and nonbinary rep, especially in Doctor Who.]
Moving on.
If I had a nickel for every time the Doctor questioned "why this face", I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
DAVID TENNANT. Welcome back, Sir! I have to admit something: when everyone and especially people who kept shitting on Twelfth and Thirteenth got all excited about David Tennant coming back, I got a bit disheartened, because I felt (and a lot of people explicitly said) that it would overshadow and discard Capaldi's excellent work and Jodie's run, and I wasn't as excited about David as most people. BUT I gotta admit it: it is AMAZING to see David back in action as the Doctor, with the added weight of the Doctor's past three regenerations! He knows the character, he knows the history, he knows the universe, and it SHOWS. I love that he's older, wiser, grizzlier, more prudent, they got burn so many times, and yet still ridiculous, goofy, prone to fondness and kind to his bones... Yeah, that's the Doctor again.
And now onto the real star, the one true MVP... DONNA NOBLE. Most important woman in the universe. Brilliant, sassy Donna!!!! I looooove that amnesiac Donna gave away the money, and that it's the first thing she rails against when she gets all her memories back. It's just. Prime Donna stuff. All at once incredibly kind and driven to help, but also down to earth and practical. Yeah, yeah, helping others, of course, that's the priority, but also, damn it, take care of myself too, ya know? She's SO relatable!! Love that she adores her daughter and that's her calling. Remember when she felt so lost and aimless? Now she's got her objective: being a mother to an amazing daughter. Oh, and, uuuh.... Wrecking the Tardis every time she sets foot in it. Oops! Can't wait to see where they land!
Oh, oh, the Tardis! Not sure I'm a fan of the new design, tbh. Too white, too empty. I hope she's not going to stay like this too long. Pretty sure it won't, given that she's already on fire.
And on the last thing for this first episode: I do hope we're getting actual ties-in with the 60 years history...
Onto Wild Blue Yonder!

if i had a nickel for every time i became obsessed with an antagonistic character who rationalized their actions by relating them to theatre i would have three nickels, which isn't a lot but it's really funny that it's happened three times
