Velvette playlist with BIPOC music artists 💖

I noticed when I was looking at Velvette playlists on Spotify that a lot of them had mostly white artists, and that bothered me (particularly when a playlist would have a lot of rap music but the majority was by white people). I guess because I like playlists where it feels like the character's "voice" is behind the songs (if that makes sense), and Velvette is Black.

I'm not criticizing anyone (I have a larger, private version of this playlist with white artists too), but I wanted to make a playlist with only songs by BIPOC because of it, just to highlight BIPOC artists more. There are a couple collabs with white artists, but no songs that are only by white people. Non-Black artists were included as long as they're POC.

ai generated images make me increasingly sad and tired the more i see them in more and more casual contexts. i dont know how to explain, but it just fills the world with a bunch of nothing. no matter how visually stunning the pictures might be, there's nothing behind it for me. no dedication, no emotions, no feelings, no hard work or creativity, nothing i can truly think about, admire or enjoy. i dont think thats how art is supposed to be

I had a fucked up dream last night and I just want to share it. But also not fucked up in the normal kinda way? I’m the deeply unsettling and I wake up still feeling deeply unsettled?

It was like a work field trip? (I only remember my bestie being there and it was a field trip, but like we were today ages).

A lot of it is gone/a blur but I remember we were walking around and I got separated slightly. But I ran into Gordon Ramsey and he was asking my age and be being a smart ass did my normal “take a guess”. To which he seemed concerned. I never say this but in the dream I reassured him I was definitely not a minor and then everything just felt uncomfortable.

Proceeded to return to my group and then we went into like a kitchen, but kinda like a lab set up? Sectioned into little stations with walls. Me and my bestie clearly were together and then he shows up again and randomly joins our team.

Then it was revealed we were doing a kinda cooking contest and had to reuse a meal to make a Christmas dinner. And then people were talking about how we were going to win (obvious reasons), which made me mad and I took over.

To which I started telling them to cut stuff or grab my things so I could make a stuffing, he made a cranberry sauce and I grabbed the chicken(?) we had and he called me “Clever Girl” and I wanted to throw up. Thankfully that’s when I woke up and just still feeling so ick.

If you've ever told a person who's had to be bedbound for a period of time that you wish you could "just stay in bed", DO IT.

Stay in bed. For days. But don't get up if someone needs you to, or you get bored, or you get antsy. Don't do anything other than rest. Just lie in your bed, whether you need to get stuff done around the house or socialize or anything else "productive". You'll have to cancel on people, you'll disappoint them, they won't understand.

And if you're thinking, "well, i CAN'T just be in bed. There's stuff that has to be done - I have plans", maybe ask yourself why you assumed a disabled person doesn't have plans or things to do or desires.

i've been working on this painting for over 3 months and i am exhausted 💀 so excited to be done with it. i'm really proud of it though!! it's definitely the most detailed painting i've done in quite some time.
