THE KWAMIS ARE ANCIENT FAE. TIKKI AND PLAGG ARE CURSED FAE LOVERS AND HAVE A NEVER ENDING CYCLE OF TRYING TO GET THE LADYBUG AND CAT HOLDERS TO FALL IN LOVE SO THEY CAN BE TOGETHER AGAIN.

Miraculous Fairy Trees

Fairy trees are very common flora in Fairy Realm, but only two Miraculous Fairy Trees exist, under the protection of each of the two original main courts: Seelie and Unseelie, hence their titles. These Miraculous Fairy Trees gave life to twelve Kwamis each. Regular fairy trees are also capable of nurturing life, but those beings are referred to as Pixies, creatures far less powerful on their own without a holder to carry them.

Seelie Tree

The fairy tree housing the twelve Seelie Kwamis, guarded by Oberon. Though sadly over the years Oberon lost track of a few of them, they all seem to be getting drawn back to Sen City through various means...

They are the fortune teller, using people’s emotions to figure out what it is they want from their future!

I wanted to give them a regal look so I went for like a Pearl headband with peacock feathers!

I also went for long hair because yes!

That and the fact that they have their own isolated space.

Because Agreste mansion aside, I cannot stress enough how wildly uncommon it is for a teenager (or anyone) to have an entire attic space with private terrace to themselves. That would cost a fortune! Most teens would not be able to discuss super secret super hero stuff with a kwami without everyone in the house overhearing and that is if they even have their own room.

So they were also chosen for their ability to keep their secret well… a secret.

Okay, so we all know that Marinette and Adrien were chosen because they passed Fu’s tests, proving their ability to think on their feet, put others before themselves, etc.

But like, the tests were targeted at them specifically, meaning that there was already a reason that Fu wanted them as Ladybug and Chat Noir.

And then I realised: teenagers are broke. Most teenagers would not be able to fund a constant supply of macarons or camembert, both of which are quite expensive. So isn’t it really convenient that the kwami who eats baked goods went to the girl who lives in a bakery and the kwami who eats expensive cheese went to the richest boy in Paris?

Guys. Marinette and Adrien were chosen for their ability to feed their kwamis.

Fae Tikki and Plagg rough concepts~ stay tuned! I’m still designing their full fae forms and I will be giving them some more fitting names. Of course they’ll still be tikki and plagg as kwamis, but as fae they will have different names!
