The BenchTrio pt.1
I've been inspired yet again, background below, enjoy my ramblings
excuse my english, it's been some time since i wrote anything in it
-TOMMY-
Full Name: Tommy Innit (not yet Craft) but in the stage of becoming so. Voluntarliy. But not really. As always, the Syndicate trio looked at this child and said mine now. Tommy had to comply.
Alias: Just as with Siren, I didn't really wanna go with the most popular choice and come up with something myself, but after some searching I settled on Theseus anyway. LOOK. Tommy always wanted to be a hero, the good guy who can really change stuff and help the others. That's why he settled on the name of one of the greek's most popular heroes. He was the BIG GUY, THE BESTEST OF THE BEST, THE ONLY MAN EVER. However, the real reason was, that because of his powers, he was mostly confined to the healing quarters, he couldn't really prove himself on the field. The name was supposed to lift his spirit, pretend that if he could get a chance he could live up to it. THINGS CHANGED, when one day he was exceptionally let on a mission and stumbled upon a hurt Syndicate member (cough cliché cough) Perses(Techno). In the myth, Asclepius was the god of medicine, he was such a good healer, he started bringing people back to life. Now, the gods didn't like that, mostly because people were supposed to die and to not change their nature, but we'll ignore that and implement my story. The Commission wanted the villains gone and suddenly some guy is helping and healing them?? Nope. That's why they wanted the guy who was the cause gone. Just like in the myth Aeslepius was killed for his actions, so The Commission declared Tommy their enemy after they found out it's him. THEY KILLED HIS HERO STATUS. But he was reborn into a vigilante Asclepius, just like Asclepius in the myth was ressurected and became a god. Of course it was the Syndicate that came up with the name. 💥💥💥💥
Powers: I also thought about different powers, but after I came up with the stuff above, it all just fell into place.
So in my incomplete lore, when Tommy somehow meets Siren for the first time, when he's still a hero, they start fighting. Normally Wilbur would just start using his voice, BUT Tommy is quicker and more agile and manages to touch Wilbur.
One of his powers is emotion manipulation, he touches someone, he can alter what they feel. So when he puts his hand on Wil, he's able to do just that. (warning - my half-assed attempt at writing a fanfiction snippet)
Wilbur suddenly falls on his knees, hands shooting up to clutch his face which morphs into a horror filled expression. Trembling, unable to use his own powers, he looks up to Tommy.
"W-what did you do?!"
Tommy, shocked himself, stands still hovering over Siren. Looking at the image of the powerful villain crumbling before him, he slowly comes to his senses and starts to grab his compromised opponent. Yet, as he's about to do just that, in the last effort of self perseverance Siren lashes out at him, knocking him over, then while still trembling, runs away. When Tommy's able to pick himself up from the sudden attack, the villain is gone.
When he's part of the BenchTrio and an unofficial Syndicate member, he helps Wilbur and Techno with their emotions, that come with their powers. Wil, with his emotional stability, because let's be real, if you could command people to do whatever you want you could go a lil crazy with the power, and Techno, with his bloodlust state and sensory overload that the voices cause.
I think healing powers are kinda self explanatory. Touch, wound go brr and disappears. The bigger the damage the more energy it takes.
Additional info: His suit is not as proffesional as the others, because he has not yet been fully involved with The Syndicate. Therefore it's mostly scraps from his old costume and homemade parts. The others have proffesional gear made by The Syndicate.
-TUBBO-
Full Name: Tubbo Underscore
Alias: Atom, due his powers, no real story here. He was deemed by The Commission as too dangerous, his power too unstable and cast away to "retirement". He didn't want to fully join The Syndicate, but decided to work with them and became a vigilante. He was named Hephaestus.
"As a smithing god, Hephaestus made all the weapons of the gods in Olympus. He served as the blacksmith of the gods, and was worshipped in the manufacturing and industrial centres of Greece, particularly Athens."
Tubbo created weapons for The Syndicate.
Powers: He's able to create nuclear brusts that deal grave damage, but he tries to use this power as rarely as possible as not to destroy too much, opting to small blasts from his hands. However, he must be careful because his power is also linked to his emotions and if angered, distraught or scared he can lash out and burst with energy creating big explosion around him. That was the reason why The Commission feared him and wanted to get rid of him. They also didn't provide any useful ways of dealing with said powers, that's why he was unable to fully control them. HERE COMES TOMMAE with his powers, dudes helping bros.
Enhanced intelligence - my boy's a teenager and can build complex weapons - here's why.
FUN FACT: -that i came up with after coloring the drawing. Tubbo's costume is black and yellow, that's why Tommy calls him Beeboy.
Also, his suit was partily supposed to resemble those yellow hazmat suits (at least the hood).
-RANBOO-
Full Name: Ranboo Beloved
Alias: Due to his powers he was named Spectre. The Commission never fully trusted him, because of his memory problems and thought he might spill their beans. He convinced Tubbo to leave The Commission after him. He was named Lethe. "The shades of the dead were required to drink the waters of the Lethe in order to forget their earthly life. [..] Virgil writes that it is only when the dead have had their memories erased by the Lethe that they may be reincarnated." Ranboo was tasked with convincing and recruiting new members of The Syndicate. In a way he was the threshold between their old and new life.
Powers: Standard teleportation. Enhanced reflexes came form the idea that when Endermen are angered they become really fast :p. Also, the mask he's wearing works as a noctovisor. Where did that idea come from? Endermen canonically see the world in inverted colors which kinda looks like as if you used nightvision. Also he should probably see where he is teleporting.
BENCHTRIO LORE: The name BenchTrio, in this case, was made up as a joke, that all three of them were often benched while still working in The Commission. Tommy, because of healing powers, Tubbo because of his instability and Ranboo because of his memory problems.
If you've made it through the whole text ily <3
damn i love using greek mythology as a reference for this stuff it makes my brain go brrr.
As always I'm listing some of the fics that inspired me the most:
The Oath of Hippocrates by Melatonin_High
tommyinnit’s clinic for supervillains by bonesandthebees (bonesandcacti)
Welcome Home Theseus by SoulfirePhoenix
Give them the love they deserve!!
Now I'm onto finishing a little strip of comic for this universe >:333
Also enjoy my bff's reaction to me writing all that shit to her at 4 am:

I made this originally as a comment on a post on Reddit, but it seemed well liked, so I thought I’d expand on it a little and make it a post here on Tumblr.
Spoilers for Shadow of the Erdtree abound, don’t read any farther if you don’t want the ending spoiled.
I really loved a lot of the lore about Miquella up until the big reveal that he Miquellested Mohg, and was bringing back Radahn as his consort. I remember finding the crosses across the land, and then finding the one in the fissure, and seeing that he abandoned his love there, and man, that was so good, so chilling to see that Miquella, known for his compassion and kindness, had thrown that away. We were going from cross to cross, learning just how much he was willing to mutilate and change himself for godhood… only for him to cling to a childhood crush he had on his older brother. That’s lame. Like, really lame. And gross!
And Mohg. I know we joke about how he beat the allegations, but remember that he needed to wed an Empyrean for his plans to work out with the Formless Mother. These plans he already had in place before Miquella charmed him, since Sir Ansbach was already a Pureblood Knight working under Mohg before Mohg was charmed, meaning Mohg had already established the foundations of his dynasty. That means Mohg was going to go after either Miquella or Malenia, since they were the only Empyreans left, and tell me, which one sounds like the easier target, the small child, or the undefeated champion? Miquella was always going to be taken by Mohg, the retcon just exists to make Miquella look more morally questionable while stripping Mohg of a bit of his agency and villainous identity. The entire Mohg portion feels like a rewrite when the entire reason he was charmed by Miquella is because he had some unspecified way into the Shadow Lands, and it’s never really talked about ever again. Mohg’s entire purpose in this plan comes off as an afterthought, with no specifications as to why he was needed, other than a vague “he was needed.” Even the use of his body to resurrect Radahn is unexplained as far as I know, though I headcanon that it’s due to Radahn’s body being too rotted after the centuries of Scarlet Rot infecting it, and they needed a demigod’s body, so Mohg was the only one to use available, but it would have been nice if that had been explained.
Godwyn would have been better as a final boss, and it didn’t even need to be actually Godwyn to work, since I know some people don’t think that would work from a lore perspective since his souls is gone, and his full return would wreck the Duskborn ending. Of course, “gone” is weird way to put it, since his soul isn’t destroyed, it’s in whatever afterlife exists in Elden Ring and just not being reincarnated like everyone else who dies after the rune of Death was removed, so Miquella could maybe work a way to get him back. The DLC is in the Shadow Lands, where all things that die pass through, after all. Get rid of Mohg being brainwashed, but keep his body being used so that Sir Ansbach, one of the best NPCs, still has a quest to follow in putting Mohg’s body to a proper rest. It also makes sense, Godwyn’s body is really messed up, bloated, and multiplying all over the Lands Between like a cancer, and can’t be used for ressurection.
Still, I think a failed Godwyn would be better. Maybe we skip the whole Promised Consort part, and just have it be the first act of Godhood Miquella does, because ew, am I tired of the incest surrounding Miqella’s character. Godwyn The Golden starts the fight off back in his prime, doing loads of attacks infused with Holy damage, coming off as the perfect and powerful Demi-god he’s always stated as being in the lore. Then he starts falling apart at phase 2, his phase 1 attacks being switched to being ghostflame infused rather than holy, Miquella now on his back and any new attacks added to phase 2 take on the holy affinity due to his presence. Then phase 3 hits, no holy infinity at all, all attacks do ghostflame or deathblight buildup. Deathblight is already so underused, so it would be great here. Godwyn is falling apart faster the more we fight, and Miquella, holding on, is getting hurt by the ghostflame and deathblight while desperately trying to keep his beloved brother together.
Have the fight set during an eclipse, too, sorta like the final boss of Dark Souls 3, the Soul of Cinder. Really tie it into the lore of Miquella trying to bring Godwyn back, like we find out at Castle Sol, where he had hoped to use an eclispe. I’d even say to make the light from behind the eclipse change color as the fight rages on, starting off bright and holy, and change it to the horrid dark grey and sickly yellow that deathblight has by the third phase, so rather than the arena getting brighter than a flash bang like it is in canon, have it get darker and gloomier. And of course, after the fight, the eclipse has faded entirely.
Instead of a cutscene that is nothing but information we already know(Seriously, what was even the point of the cutscene we got? It gave us not a single piece of new information), Miquella is lying on the floor, mostly dead, much like Morgott after we beat him in Leyndell. He isn’t dying because of us(honestly, I don’t even know why he died in the DLC, he’s so high up on Radahn’s back we never really get a chance to hit him directly, but he dies when Radahn does for whatever reason), instead he’s dying from clinging so tightly to Godwyn and trying to hold him together, burned by ghostflame and deathblight. He laments that even as a god, he wasn’t able to fix anything. Not his sister, not his brother, not the Haligtree, none of his plans ever work. No matter the sacrifices, personal or otherwise. He’s a failure in every way, and the knowledge breaks him as he sobs and dies.
However, if you visited every cross before the boss fight, you can absorb the essence of Miquella’s discarded body, and if you beat him then, you’ll get the option to return his discarded flesh and emotions after the fight. Doing so heals him, and gives him back everything he discarded, like his love, his fears and doubts. He fades away into light particles, and if you sit at the grace in the arena, he’ll appear like Melina does, sitting across from you and with a healed character model. This gets a few bits more dialogue, some exposition, yadda yadda. He’s a god without a consort, you’re a lord without a throne. He’s unsure, and not confident it will work, but maybe if you work together, something good can come of this tragedy? Giving up now would just be spiting in the faces of everyone he’s hurt. You’re strong enough to stop him if he loses his way again. (I think the reason he chose Radahn in canon was because of his strength and kindness? He trusted Radahn to do what was right after he threw away his love and compassion, entrusting Radahn to lead him down the right path when he lacked those things, and to be strong enough to resist his charm. That’s again entirely headcanon due to our lack of knowledge about their vow, but I’m adding it here because this is MY fanfiction and I can do whatever I like!)
(This part is more of a personal bit I’d have liked added because I find it amusing, rather than because I think it would make it better. Remember when you go through all that trouble to find Fia, and she asks if you’ve come all this way to kill her, and you can just say “No, I want to be held,” and it’s the funniest chunk of text you get in game? I really wanted something like that with Miquella. He wants to know why you came all this way, entered the Shadow Lands, a sealed off region of the world where only death awaits, where you fought against insurmountable odds, all to get to Miquella, presumably to stop him, only to heal him at the last moment, in which you can straight up tell him to his face you want to be his consort, and he’s just as confused and amused as Fia was. He knows you aren’t under his charm, but still he questions if it’s possible you are if you went this far just for that.)
This unlocks a new ending for the base game, the Age of Compassion. You summon Miquella like you would Ranni after beating Elden Beast, and together you usher in a kinder world, this time without the brainwashing. Or maybe with the brainwashing. Or perhaps it’s vague about the brainwashing, and if this is a good or bad ending in classic Fromsoft fashion. I’d prefer no brainwashing, and Miquella still unsure if things will work out, with it ending ambiguous if the Age of Compassion lasts, or fumbles and falls to a world blind to it. All you and Miquella can do is hope it will be better.
That might be a lot to ask, but look, it’s the only way I’ll ever get to live out my fantasy of being fought over by a cold, goth witch gf and a soft femboy twink with hair longer than I am tall, okay?

Harrow the Ninth, Thoughts part 3
Finished the book! Harrow wasn't even insane, everyone was just gaslighting her. Gideon the First WAS attacking her. Ianthe was lying all the time, because Harrow told her to do so. Augustine and Mercy were lying to keep their cover, Johnny G. was lying because he also didn't know anything, even Harrow was lying to herself.
I understand, why both Lyctors had to kill John. But the consequences of what they'll do is insane. Obliterate 9 planets. Kill, likely Billions of People, Again. Who's to say killing off all life in a planet post ressurection won't make another Ressurection Beast to wreck havoc in the Universe. In an awful way, Mercy and Augustine are recreating the sin that John did. With likely the same consequences.
I can't agree with killing the Emperor, yes he deserves to die, but the price of doing so would have been too steep. I'd lock him in a tomb, and have him empower Dominicus for eternity. Killing John, and Dominicus in turn leads the nine houses to be put under the control of Augustine or Mercy, and through that connection, the Blood of Eden.
We don't even know who tf the Blood of Eden is! For all we know they're Fanatics and Zealots. With a name like that I'd bet money on them hyper religious freaks and Zealots. Probably some Brotherhood of Steel, Adeptus Mechanicus style cult. Likely the type to uncritically worship Nostalgia and the Past.
I'd stick with John honestly. Maybe John Gohn could be better one day, and I HOPE he was telling the truth about his regrets. If he didn't, well fuck him then. Warhammer 40k had the right idea for God Emperors. Turn the bastard into a living battery. I think, a part of Jod was hoping the 8 in GtN, would crack the formula. Maybe that's why he was hoping they would take it slow, do it with years of study and preparation. So, I can't really hate Ianthe for what she did. Or maybe, I just fell for Jaius Gaius sad wet cat act.
Also, Harrow and Gideon definitely opened the stupid tomb. Gideon found Harrow in the Tomb. So Alecto was definitely released. Maybe, partially? But she's still out there, somewhere. Maybe the girl living with Camilla. Who knows
I am, so very very happy I got my prediction about the Sleeper right. Once I realized Gideon was alive and consciousness inside Harrow, there was only one suspect. Gideon's Mom. Where else was a friggin Haz Suit ever mentioned except the one her Mom was found in. Considering Palamedes mentioned that you bring your last memory with you when you died, of course her Mom remembered being in a Haz Suit

Gods like Chaos, Thanatos and Hades are all overrated. People talk about them like they are super strong and ultra mega powerful, or that Chaos is the creator of the world (he was not in any theogony), or that Thanatos and Hades were kind or better than other gods etc. The truth is we have almost nothing on these gods, so people create all type of weird fanfic about them. Thanatos and Hades are pitiless of heart, not kind, and Chaos is not the creator of the world. And neither are they strong either, especially Thanatos and Hades, who got their ass kicked by Heracles in different ocasions without the help of Athena, while Hades we have nothing substantial about him concerning any fight, and he was scared of Typhon just like any god beside Zeus.
And Hades is not the best candidate for the ruler of the world either, neither did he accepted the underworld out of pity for his brothers and yadayada. Zeus is far more capable than Hades, with Hades coming to Zeus multiple times to solve a lot of questions, even in his own domain.
Hades wanted judges to judge the dead. He decided to ask Zeus to recomend three sons of his for being judges. Zeus recomended Minos, Aeacus and Radamanthys. So Hades, instead of acting by his own, decided to rely on Zeus wisdom. Of course there is nothing wrong with that, but Hades is not more competent than Zeus like some think.
He asks Zeus to give him Kore as a wife, which Zeus does. Admittedly this is more as her father than as a ruler but may still count.
Leaving aside the moral objections to this (which, despite what some people will tell you, were clearly evident in Ancient Greece and are not modern inventions), this is generally how marriage worked in Ancient Greece - the father (Zeus) gives the bride to the groom, without her input or consent (and often, although not in this story, without the groom's either).
Just look at Hades. His story in modern media has nothing to do with death. In fanfictions like Lore Olympus and similar works, is all about him and Persephone, and there is nothing about death, that is just a side note. In Percy Jackson his main trait is that he is resentful that the other gods despise him, but he dont anything related to death either.
The only modern work that incorporates Death with Hades as the main thing is Hadestown, where he is enslaving the dead.
For what i have seen, people like Hades because of his supposed gothic aspect, Persephone, and him not being Zeus. Not because of death, or to find comfort in death.
Thanatos is not the "god of something", he is Death personified. He is literaly death itself given a face and body. Hades is more properly a god of "things", and that includes Death. Thanatos is a servant of Hades.
Hades was sometimes show even above the Moirai, in this case he would have even control on how long people live, and when they should die. This was not a common depiction, but it existed.
Hades also choose the judges of the Underworld (but based around Zeus decision), he gave everything there its place, etc. Hades is a god of death, there is no need to be to formulaic, like "oh he is not the god of death".
When Hades appears in mythology, is dealing with death related matters. He sent out ghosts to punish people that did not buried the dead. He allowed some people to ressurect. He was also against people ressurecting others without his permission, like Asclepius. Etc, you get my point.
But in modern adaptations he either wants to overthrown Olympus, or is only about Persephone. Altrough the second one is accurate to myths, neither of these things have to do with death related matters per se (because he being god of the dead is only used as a background, like "he wants to take down Olympus because he hates ruling the dead").
In Hadestown, Hades main conflict is at least related to death. "What happens when people die", they became slaves of Hades (in Hadestown of course, not in greek mythology). It explores Hades relation to dead people and how this will be corrected in the end of the play. Way better than the other examples, even if not accurate itself.
In both cases, Death is just the background of the god, "oh he dont like the world of the dead". But his main purpose is to overthrown Olympus, a thing that has nothing do to with him being ruler of the dead, since any god could try to overthrown Olympus for other reasons, is not something tied to death.
I would say his best portrayal is the books Percy Jackson, but still is far from great, since being god of the dead is once again used as a background for the character main conflict (his rejection by other gods), instead of being the main thing he does. In most Hades myths, beside the Persephone one, his main concern is to keep the dead, dead (thus he killed Asclepius who was ressurecting them), or to change things in the Underworld (when he elevated sons of Zeus as judge), but that is rarely brought up in modern adaptations.

Of course in one sense Joyce does very much die because of Dawn -- from a narrative perspective, she has to die not long after Dawn arrives in order for Buffy to fully take on the more adult role of Dawn's protector that this season is all about her becoming -- but I just don't understand what people think it adds to the story for Dawn's arrival to literally be the in-universe reason Joyce gets sick.
Nobody else suffers from any physical side effects because of Dawn's sudden presence in their lives, not even people who must have years and years of memories of her (and Buffy has super-powers, sure, but what about Hank? what about people like Joyce's sister, who we never see on screen but must still remember Dawn just like everyone else in the universe now does?). Whenever the question is brought up (in Shadow, in Forever) all the characters in the show are pretty convinced that Joyce's cancer is entirely non-magical in origin (and that it would be wrong to try to use magic to heal her, or to try to bring her back the way they later bring back Buffy), and they never learn otherwise, so ... well, what is the point of them being wrong?
In Bargaining Willow explicitly says that Buffy's death was different and that the Gang's attempt to ressurect her "isn't like trying to bring Mrs Summers back" because Buffy's death was caused by "mystical energy". If Joyce was also killed by "mystical energy" -- which is what the Key is, isn't it? -- then why are the rules different for her? Or are they not actually different? Could Joyce have been resurrected with no long term side effects? What does it add to the story that the show is telling if everyone in it is wrong about why Joyce died and what they could have done about it?
I just don't see the appeal.

Round 2 - Side B
Tumblr media
Propaganda below ⬇️
Jean
Everything he does is motivated by the grace shown to him by the bishop. I also like him. He’s a strong old man which white hair. Or Hugh Jackman, which is also a cool thing to be.
His whole conflict over the course of the show is do I follow God and be a good man or do I follow the law. He doesn’t like, break the law all the time, but he will if it’s to appease a higher mission i.e he’s wanted by the police but he evades arrest to save an orphan
There’s a lot of talk about god in Les Mis. In the musical, Valjean has plenty of songs where he’s praying or talking to God.
Penitent One
They make me crazy I mean one look at this motherfucker will tell you. They have a crown of thorns. They've taken an oath of silence. (Spoilers) they literally become like if Jesus was a tree in . Most of the endings I think. I'm so serious there is nothing uncatholic or uninsane about this guy. They make me want to explode i feel like I'm not even explaining this well to you it's just that they're so bonkers and unwell and they're trapped in the ressurection cycle because it's their job to literally take on the guilt of every other person then climb the mountain of ash to the pulpit chair and then die. This is so insane to me. Imagine me shaking your shoulders about this. Thank you.
The game is heavily based on Spanish Roman Catholicism, and the religion in the game is basically just Catholic Guilt To The Max.
Blasphemous is a game themed around Spanish Catholicism, guilt, and penitence. There's a Church, a Miracle, and the game itself is stuffed with imagery right out of Spain (since that's where the studio is). The Penitent One is in a quest to kill the Pope!
The Penitent One kills the Pope, then kills the Pope's true form, then dies and kills the Pope's soul, and then proceeds to kill the game's allegory for the Holy Trinity.

I need to hear more about Godwyn's dragon age (DA2 if you will lmao) because while I know he TECHNICALLY gets an age, I've always found it very dissatisfying since Fia's thing isn't *really* about restoring death tbh and TWLID simply looks to be a horrific state of existence. Making that be a normalized state does not look to be helping the world in the slightest.
Honestly agreed. I would actually argue that Duskborn isn't Godwyn's ending at all- it's specifically Fia's.
Fia doesn't really have a plan for structural and systemic change. She knows who she is and how she's been affected by the current order- as Tarnished, she identifies pretty closely with the undead, and I can see why. What's the difference between our grace-given resurrection and the way skeletons respawn? We were dead, and will eternally die- likewise deathroot came for the dead, who will eternally die unless "weeded".
On top of that, Fia is functionally a surrogate mother for dead people. It's easy to take that concept and make it bigger. Plus, she was 100% part of a cult and never really unpacked that worldview. The Duskborn ending isn't about Godwyn, it's about Fia's decision to be a mother to the dead on a massive scale. She didn't choose Godwyn because she liked who he was when he was alive, she chose him because he's the first of the dead. If you'll forgive my sense of humor, she 100% objectified that man. And, like many mothers, I think she's potentially blind to the idea that her children suffer by existing.
Duskborn is only about Godwyn inasmuch as it enables his body's primal urge to feed, grow, and flourish unceasing like an eldritch cancer. So. If we're going to construct some kind of actually Godwyn-centric ending, it'd have to take his personhood and desires into account.
The captain of the Ressurecting Godwyn squad is Miquella, but as far as I can tell he's given up despite rigorous effort. Maybe true resurrection or even rebirth aren't really possible. Since souls and runes seem to be entwined, I actually think that the reason Miquella couldn't find him is because the Cursemark of Death snatched his soul and incorporated it or something. There's no soul to call because it's already bound to something physical. Could just be obliterated, of course, but let me dream.
Option 1: we use the Cursemark of Death to restore Godwyn's soul, allying specifically with him instead of Fia. He's still infected with deathroot, but there's also a literal dragon in his head doing its best to fight that, so he could theoretically sustain a state of perpetual chronic blight the way Malenia does. He would also probably hate it as much as she does. Still, he seemed to be a compassionate guy who liked allies better than enemies, so I could see him actively making an effort to figure out if the undead like existence, and then based on that information figuring out a proper response. Highly superior undead rights ending for all my fellow goths out there.
Also, he probably actually knows how to be a king and manage resources/politics/humanitarian work post-Shattering, which the other ending options distinctly lack.
Option 2: we ally with Fortissax and weed Godwyn's deathroot. It would be very hard and suck very much and probably involve body horror worm vines or something. I don't think deathroot itself is conscious- I think it's just mindless growth, the instinct of an empty body, combined with the seed that needs growing: the fragment of Death itself propagating in his flesh. It fits pretty nicely with the themes of grafting and such in the game- even the Elden Ring is supported by a trellis. Regardless, we exorcise Godwyn- maybe it needs Destined Death, the true blackflame rune that the Cursemark spawned from, to properly do the job.
Here's where I get crazy. I think the other way to get Godwyn's soul back would be to burn the Cursemark, and/or his body. When you look at Death in Elden Ring, the faction pretty explicitly called just Death used to process bodies and souls via cremation. It'd be cool if we could bring the Twinbird into this, as a purer and more correct form of Death than the blight. Free him with fire, let him be reborn. Depending on how long that takes, Fortissax can step in as regent since it actually knew him and what he'd want better than anyone else.
Most of the dragons have been hunted to the ends of the earth, but with the warring Shardbearers out of the way and the kingdoms of men and dragons broken across the landscape, the most logical move is to try rebuilding. Fortissax is probably significantly more biased than Godwyn and I could see it setting up dragon lords all over the major centers of civilization. People need leaders, okay, and dragons are naturally leaders, obviously this is the correct idea. We can only hope Godwyn gets himself together fast enough to counterbalance Fortissax's idea of a functional and just empire.
Also Crucible influence comes back into fashion and the Omens are treated like proper citizens, because Godwyn likely had Crucible Knights directly in his service and I can't see why he'd have a problem with them. In a way, Godwyn's age would be a slight reversion to Placidusax's age, just with a lot more tiny squishy people.
Is it a perfect fix? No. Is it better than the other endings? Depends on your opinion of "better", really. It's a step backwards in some ways, a step forward in others. But it's still an ending I could realistically see Godwyn at the head of (with a heavy dose of Fortissax).

Honestly the one thing that really frustrates me about Hyrule Warriors is how they cut Linkle being Link's sister, because otherwise it would have recontextualized Warriors entirely as a character.
This is mainly just headcanon territory, but something always bugged me about him being a knight in training from the get go, mainly because it's usually never any Link's first choice with First, Sky and Wild being the main exceptions (Gaepora took him in, and Gaepora runs the knights academy, makes sense he'd want to join then plus he'd probably want to protect Sun, plus Skylofts knights function differently than Hyrule knights, they don't have the same hierarchy and Skyloft is pretty peaceful before SS truly picks up so again, makes sense he wouldn't have troubles joining, we don't know First's reasons besides him seeing evil on the horizon and deciding if no one's was gonna do anything about it he might as well do it himself, and Wild was basically recruited at a young age for pulling the Master Sword while presumably young, he was never given a choice), we see it with Four, he's a blacksmiths apprentice under his grandfather and we see in his manga him practically baring his teeth at his father he won't become a knight and he doesn't pick up the sword unless really necessary, we see that with Time, he was raised as a Kokiri, he dreamt of adventure already from the drawings we see in his room, but he could always just become an adventurer if he wanted to though of course we see that change with the Hero's Shade, I'll come back to that, Wind? Was content living in Outset with Aryll before Ganon decided to fuck around and found out really hard, Legend was also a blacksmiths apprentice and adventurer and he only takes up knight training in the manga because Sir Raven inspired him, like even if he didn't want to be a knight the training would still serve him well (and lo and behold the advice pays off given all the shenanigans mostly caused by divine beings Legend gets saddled with), Hyrule obviously leaves in a very hostile world so he wouldn't even have ANY time to think about knight training, he's self taught because he'd literally die if he wasn't given monsters need his blood to ressurect Ganon so it's honestly a unique case of technically self defense, either he learned to hunt or he'd remain hunted, Twilight is the same case as Wind's, Ganondorf fucked around and found out with the wrong older sibling's people plus the protagonists heavily implied love interest(s) and got shafted into next week, him and Dusk don't have a personal connection besides Midna for him to stick around much and we see him go back to Ordon, so no knighthood there, so why was Warriors different? What motivated him?
I think Linkle being his younger sister would have been the answer.
Long post ahead, continue under your own risk
I know lots of people characterize Warriors as being of a noble line and joined the knights at the urging of his father, but let's not forget most Links are orphans so thinking Wars is an exception is a pipe dream. So that's out, however, in medieval times knights actually get plenty of benefits since they work mostly for lords, ladies and the local crown, being a knight is synonymous with being a noble or at least having a decent life at the cost of serving someone else and the Hyrulean knights don't really have any requisites before joining (though we do see long lines of knights exist, which some Links are descended from without their knowledge, so it's not farfetched to think that a good chunk of the knights of Hyrule qualify as members of noble houses loyal to the Hyrulean crown, would also explain their why they're ineffective a lot of the time too, if most of them grew noble and Hyrulean isn't war seeking {most of the time} then they wouldn't have any real experience), it would be a good way for Warriors to support himself as he climbs up the ranks, and most importantly, someone else, because he'd need to make that money to feed Linkle if she's his younger sister because most Links who take on elder sibling roles are at their best when trying to protect their younger siblings (Wind with Aryll, Twilight with Collin, to an extent Legend and Gulley, all Links are at their best when fighting/protecting someone else), Linkle could grown up without restrictions and he could support them both, making them work harder than other knights because he's already at a disadvantage.
Making it so he's in the perfect place at the right time to get noticed by Artemis before the War of Ages, and give him a reason to go against orders and fight rather than standby like other traineés, being discovered as the Hero in the process.
And as a result since Mask is in the war too, he gets inspired by Warriors (who as an older brother would definitely just snatch him, Wind, Tetra and heck even the Skull Kid under his wing because no way is he letting children younger than even his own little sister fight alone) and eventually becomes a knight too after presumably stopping his search for Navi or using his knight status to search more effectively, which gives us the Time we see in LU who eventually become the Hero's Shade, which trains Twilight. Because he looked up to Warriors while younger.
I just think it's a huge missed opportunity with a lot of room for angst/hurt comfort/drama, and also opportunities for Warriors, Legend and Wild to bond over not really liking the knights because they've all not likely been treated well by his fellow knights while young even though he himself is one, and that Warriors would absolutely be one of the first to throw hands if he heard another soldier talk badly about any of the Links, in this essay I will-

I know you’ve been having a tough time lately and I’ve been a silent reader for awhile and I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely adore how you write- esp their devotion to one another.
Jon in his unabashed sometimes terrifying pure obsession and her in an undying loyalty where her eyes are, if nothing, for him.
I love that there is no shitty love triangle or unfaithfulness which people shoehorn in for no reason but to create unnecessary tension, you can create that tension without having to betray their hearts or characters.
I love how despite all the odds, despite their traumas and all the men constantly trying to steal her from Jon, the one thing they never compromise is their sheer loyalty to one another…TRUE STARKS FR < 3
The last thing I wanted, was to leave room for doubt of their love for each other. Even with Robb. There are no cheaters here, no flirting with other people in a serious manner. There is no doubt if they will be faithful.
It was why during Robbs era, I refused to make any references to Talisa or Jeyne Westerling, I didn't want to leave room for people to doubt that their love is real, and it's why Jon is not a heavy focus during that time either. And it's why now, they talk about how being together isn't betraying Robb, because it's not a competition.
I never wanted any unnecessary conflict about other love interests even when Robb literally marries the reader away from Jon in the first chapter. Love was always the focus, never a doubt of that love. I hate the idea that the Starks would ever entertain that behavior (espeically since we now know Ned never actually did either).
Jon and the reader especially have a unique bond. They were in love, but now through ressurection, that love is enhanced by a very unique and dark sort of blood magic. It's a bond deeper then normal people can understand and that devotion is unquestioning.
She's not afraid to think that her purpose of coming back was Jon, and Jon isn't afraid to think that this all means that they belong to each other for good. He isn't insecure about it anymore, because deep in his bones, he knows he feels it.
Jons side does especially tread into a scary level of addiction to her, but it isn't ever out of malice or anger. It's a degree of love that sometimes, even scares him. But it's there, and he will never betray her in any way shape or form no matter what.
They are a very extreme example of being ride or die, only the die is followed up with "im too obsessed to even let you stay dead."
It isn't an example of a healthy relationship, but for them it's right.
(Also the degree of denial the reader lives in thinking Jon is making it up that other men want her. Like she is a highborn who is twice a queen, of course men want her but she has such eyes for Jon she does not at all comprehend why another man would come into the picture at all, she has him, why would another man want her knowing it cant be, and Jon has a dark desire to prove to those men they never could have her)
Loyalty means everything to the Starks, and loyalty in love is just another part of that, and Jon will do anything possible to prove that he will always be loyal to her, even through the dark fog in her head whispering otherwise.

Do you think that a lot of things could have changed if Chris didn't survive this night (for exemple, if no farms was near of them or if they have taken too much time into it)? Or worse, if the demons had just eat him after the attack of Norman's paradise rather that bring him to Grace Field. After all they could have think that take care of this comatose child was useless.
Actully Chris is lucky to have survived to this moment too and not only to his wound.
I wonder if Emma would have been as much pacifist after this loss. Of course it depents if Chris would die before or after the new promise, because Emma could also ask to ressurect her little brother but then she would have pay more.
Why the „hate“ on the poor lil blue berry 🫐? Didn‘t he suffer enough? 😥
The story‘s course maybe have somewhat changed if Chris died in different ways:
being immediatly killed by Andrew‘s attack
succumbing to his injuries due to no medication for the fever/ the medication being too late
him being killed and eaten by the demons during the attack on the Paradise Hideout
him never being able to wake up from his coma aka being declared „brain dead“ by the doctors in the human world
I guess Emma still would have tried to find a peaceful solution for humans and demons as well, with her debatting herself even more due to Chris‘ fate like she did in the manga. But, in the end, what would change Chris dying more than Conny‘s death? Or the loss of her other siblings, her friends from Goldy Pond, or even Yuugo and Lucas?
We did see in the source material several times how tired she was of further war and pain and suffering. She did state how much she loathes the demons and Ratris alike, but still, doing the same to them like they did to her would not end this pain, but only place it on the next generations – something Emma‘s currently suffering due to Julius‘ decisions, and which she wants to ambolish for good.
Of course, I could see Norman trying to talk her into his plans even more. He has reached a point of no return (or so he thinks), with loosing his brother being another nail in the coffin. Would erasing the demons make Chris happy, if he would have gotten to witness it? Maybe, maybe not. They will never know, because he‘s dead, because of the demons and the Ratris. There‘s no way for Norman sparing any of them anymore, and much like he already did in the manga, I can‘t see him loosing too much time with mourning, but instead taking revenge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though I guess Emma can‘t revive Chris, even with involving the Demon God. After all, you can only ask for one new promise (I guess?) and if this was possible, why wouldn‘t she had tried to ask for getting back her dead siblings and fathers? I don‘t know how much HE can control, but life and eath like this seems to be a bit out of his control.

Okay but hear me, i've always think of this scenario :
So after Jake shot Arthur, he didn't die but Ammit did. She basically disappeared and gone while her avatar surived. HOWEVER, since she was actually a creature that was created rather than born, there's a way to ressurect her 👀. So this is what happen; let's just say you were once an avatar of a god that either has been ushabtied or no longer need your help anymore. One day, Maat heard the news of Ammit's death and pitied her (Ammit was Maat's servant and both are very close to each other.) So she gave you a quest to ressurect her, in reward of life you always dream of. Creating Ammit needed 4 ingredients, acacia petals, nile water, black sand, and the heat of desert. Long short story you've gathered all the ingredients, mixing it in a heat of the desert. You read the coptic chant, succesfully ressurecting her. Of course her first choice of Avatar was you, no doubt. Maat hid her from the enneads, but didn't hide her from humanity. It shouldn't be a problem since enneads can make themself invisible but this Harrow guy, who could sense a presence of a god and an avatar, definitely knew it. You didn't know who he is, but he has gathered bunch of information including the fact who are you and what goddess have you been resurected. Now it's up to you whether you keep hiding your goddess from her previous avatar preventing him judging the world or threw all away your brain cells for a hot white man with soul-piercing blue eyes and soothing sexy voice AVSHAHKSJSJ (this is a scenario i'd like to turn into chaptered fic but i wanna see how you make it your own version 😳💖💖)
I mean YESSSSHHH. (And do it. Write that multichapter fic). Gosh, I am perhaps a bit too tired right now, but I just wanted to reply to this because absolutely.

~ + ~
“Arthur,” your voice cracked, throat drier than it used to be. Like ancient parchment – like if you were a mummy yourself. “Arthur Harrow.”
The man you addressed raised a brow, clearly surprised that you knew him by name. “So you do know who I am?” he said, voice low and like silk.
You pressed your lips into a thin line. Of course you knew who he was. This man who had sought you out at your work place. This man who kept prodding and poking, desperately fishing for information that would betray who you were and what you had done.
Ammit. When you closed your eyes you could still feel her deep within you. Her crocodile tail swarmed through your chest. A low rumble threatened to erupt from the depths of your soul, a sound that should only be heard coming from the waters of the Nile.
He had known so much about you – more specifically about the goddess you had revived. So much, that you’d sought out his identity all on your own. The way he kept returning to you, like you were magnets that could not be apart for long. And you’d felt charmed by that. Because this was Arthur, a man whose looks made your cheeks flush warm and whose voice made your heart beat faster. His knowledge made you thirst for him, his careful walk made your knees turn to jelly.
It had been unfair then, to find out that he had been Ammit’s former avatar. The man who had been killed. Nearly. And who, like the goddess herself, had been brought back to life for there were people who could not live without him still. Mister Harrow had purpose – even if he seemed to have lost it himself. But the gods knew. It was why he had been Konshu’s avatar before being Ammit’s.
A man who had stood on his own against the gods. So powerful, so strong, so obedient and loyal.
His death had been unjust.
You bit your lip and glanced away. The heat had crept up higher, all the way from your toes to the top of your head. Your whole body was alit with desire – the kind you had to ignore.
He wasn’t for you. He was the god’s plaything.
He belonged to Ammit.
“You keep returning,” you started, eyes still averted so you would not have to look at his face. You knew the expression you would see there; sweet-eyed, puppy-eyed. Hopeful. “And you always ask me the same questions.”
He was short to answer, stepping closer to you with a careful tread. Though there was no more glass in his shoes, he had to be careful with how he walked. Somehow the revival had transported the damage to his chest to his feet; a permanent reminder of the suffering he had sustained on a daily basis for his goddess. “And you just need to answer them,” he said, voice like silk. Like he wasn’t the smooth manipulator that history had proved him to be.
Oh, how you longed for his strong hands – that reached out for you – to hold you in an embrace. You had made the error of looking up as he spoke, and now were watching him as he approached. His attire was casual. A cream-colored jacket over a wine-red blouse. Red pants. Brown shoes. Pepper-and-salt grey hair curling at the height of his shoulders. Concern was edged deep on his face, his forehead adorned in wrinkles. His blue eyes were upon, translucid and full of sadness and longing.
You knew why. It was why you had wanted to avoid seeing the look that lay within them.
He loved her. He missed her. And he saw her in you.
Ammit.
Again. That bitch.
“And I told you before, Mister Harrow. I have nothing of what you want. Not on me,” and not in me, you wanted to say. But you bit back the words, forcing yourself to calm your breathing. “That’s why I need to know,” you turned to face him. “Why can’t you let go?”
The man’s lips parted, his tongue peeking out between white rows of teeth. No wonder she had chosen him, you thought. No wonder, with all the beauty and sharpness and edges he had to him. A deity in the human flesh.
He did not need a moment to think about his answer, stepping up close, towering over your smaller frame. His blue eyes boring down into yours while they swirled with emotions. Passion.
“Because I worship her.”
Tumblr media
Okay, so a few things for this:
Yeah, you’re definitely skilled at bringing ancient deities back.
When Maat asks this of you, you don’t even hesitate. You’re straight on it.
Ammit makes you her avatar, but it’s only for the short ride. You want to head home and you have better things to do. She knows this. So you make a pact, and you will help her find someone better.
Once you’re home, you start your search.
When Arthur shows up, he instantly captures your heart. But hey! What started as a seemingly impossible crush feels even more impossible once you find out that he was Ammit’s last avatar.
You discover that he did not quite survive. The ancient gods brought him back in a way.
The more you read and hear about him, the more you’re in awe. This man singlehandedly fought avatars, fought gods. He had so many skills. No wonder that he was chosen not once, but twice! And he is loyal. Darn he is.
You slowly grow angry at Ammit for being revered by this handsome man. It somehow feels like she’s standing in your way.
Now that you’re convinced Arthur can feel Ammit’s presence upon you, you try and avoid him. But darn, he keeps popping up.
Luckily you and Ammit find a new avatar. Someone stronger and more suitable than you – which.. you know, is a bit offensive actually to hear. But you get it. It was your wish.
Then you have the realization that Arthur Harrow probably would want to sleep with you if you were Ammit’s avatar. You have the fleeting fancy to somehow take that new possible avatar out of the equation and keep Ammit’s powers to yourself. You know Harrow would want you if you embodied the goddess one way or another.
But you let it go. You’re not a killer. It is why you don’t want to remain Ammit’s avatar. It’s why you didn’t remain the avatar of the god before that. And so Ammit leaves you.
You’re normal again.
When Harrow visits you, you know he has noticed. Yet, he still steps closer to you.
You’re afraid he will be angry that she is gone. But he only appears to be sad that the goddess is no longer using you, and hasn’t left you for him.
He still embraces you.
He still murmurs sweet nothings in your ear.
He still worships you.
And he still sleeps with you.
Bonus:
When the deity you’d been an avatar seems to have left you special powers. You just don’t tell other people that. But Harrow finds out – either by accident during some domestic task or during you know – the rumpy pumpy. 👀
Arthur is a little lost without his powers. You feel really proud when one day to another, he suddenly is confident again.
Then you find out Ammit has gifted him with powers. Despite not being her avatar, he has been reinstated as some kind of leading figure for her worshippers. The man who conquered death.
You’re angry because; damn that bitch. Now he’s all back into the religion again and that means his life is in danger once more!
He doesn’t stop worshipping you though, making sure that every opportunity he has, he reminds you of this.
And his powers make for an interesting bed fellow as well *nudge nudge wink wink*
Despite the – jealousy * cough* - dislike you hold for Ammit at the start of things, you do have a thing for crocodiles. If you could, you’d have one as a pet. One of those smaller ones from the Nile. And these crocs would be very loyal to you, behave more like dogs than crocs. You’d be some kind of croc god (not like Ammit though, but imagine how you could tease her with it “Your little cousin says hi Ammit!” *holds up a tiny crocodile who guffaws croc way * .
Same with cats.

So here's the thing this is just a recap for my sanity-
1. Max goes back to make sure Kincaid kills Lance.
2. He's ambushed by lightwood banes and Magnus changes the canon event.
3. He wakes up, resurrected are back, everyone gets to know what other Max planned on doing. (Does everyone include Anjali, Achilles too? TMI gang too?)
4. Hermes takes other Max away as demons keep attacking him because of corruption in the ley lines.
5. Lance is ambushed by lucifer to raise asmodeus
6. Other Max is sent back.
He finds out this-
1. Lance and Kincaid killed each other- don't know why? Theia dies?
2. Mikkel turned everyone on everyone. Entire TMI Gang, lightwood banes, blackthorns, downworlders all die
3. Other Magnus somehow escapes with some warlocks in hiding ig? and lives.
My question here is-
It's been 700 years since everyone was killed right?so did other Magnus start attacking institutes since then or did he not live this other life because he changed the canon event? He was just pissed at other Max for failing and now he knows both the consequences so he starts attacking institutes?
This is very good. Nicely done.
3. I don't think EVERYONE knows. Anjali def does. But for eg next gen gang doesn't know and lbaf/tmi gang doesn't either. think of this has something very much restricted to the knowledge of the lightwod bane family.
I'm gonna say Lance and Kincaid killing each other had something do with Arthur's death (after he was ressurected and died again)
Mikkel only planted seeds. remember the ressurected went crazy. so he wouldn't have lived long. but he made sure to sow discord and fuck shit up before he fucked off. As for "everyone died" - everyoen died in different ways. like for eg, blackthorns and morgernsterns were killed because of their 'half-blood' thing. But others died fighting/saving. We might find out about some of these later. (although some angst: i think cami died of heartbreak because her parabatai died. she probably tried to get revenge in fury and got hurt)
yep
As for your question - of course not. Other Magnus is still Magnus. He's not gonna turn evil overnight when everyone died. But remember he is 'magically corrupted' so the way in which he must have coped with all of this must have been very different to how we saw him cope with his past losses. but no, it was slowly built over 700 years. the attacks on the institutes are quite recent. more on this later.

We learn in the epilogue of the Dark Tournament that one can wish for one person to come back to life. In Genkai's time, the Toguro brothers wished to become demons, and Genkaiwishes to never be invited to or involved with the Tournament ever again.
There were two other members on their team. I wonder what they wished for?
Before the finals of that tournament, what had been their plan? Just revenge? Genkai describes Toguro being traumatised by the deaths of the disciples and wanting revenge, but surely if they were informed that the prize was a wish that could be anything,
Could they not have thought to wish their disciples back to life?
Genkai's monologue makes it seem like Toguro stepped onto the victory podium and immediately wished to become a demon, but what if the team had time to talk among themselves who to ressurect? I know the way she describes it and how OP-ness of the wish is severely played down in favour of the action, blood, and death within DT is, I'm probably supposed to read it to mean that their team understood the wish that it can probably only change a condition of one person's life/death at a time. But it's also fun to imagine that's just how she comes across in the effort to create a narrative that will make sense to Yusuke. In the aftermath, I think it'd be fair for her mind to rearrange things so whatever hope she could have had at the beginning of DT would be forgotten and Toguro's heelturn be set in stone.
There's good potential for tension if they've been misinformed about it too, that one can wish people back to life, but not that one can wish one person back at a time.
It'd be up to the interpreter of canon and how they'd like to write it to decide when their team hears of the OP-ness of the wish, if they know of it before setting foot on DT or if they don't learn of it until way late in the tournament. Fellow competitors having very different ideas of what the wish can do for them and the rumours getting wild, and whether or not they try to keep the rumours away from the human team, is also fun to think about.
Very fun to consider having a thrillery subplot of "Wait, we could ressurect the people we're here to avenge?? For real???", the reveal that ,of course, things won't be that simple, there'll be a lot of logistics involved considering one person can wish for changing themselves or another person's life/death/a condition involved with life/death, which is then confounded and deemed moot when Toguro doesn't wish for anyone to come back to life, but for himself to become a demon.
What become the criteria for who to ressurect? Were they worried earlier about needing to resurrect people in a specific order, in case they're resurrected but not healed? Will they die within minutes of being returned to life? Should they resurrect the healers first? Are they returned in perfect health, what if they become confused and hurt themselves? Were there specialists among the disciples? The corpses aren't on Hanging Neck Island either, they're presumably already burned or buried by now. How many errors can the wish catch, is it really OP? Is the team willing to return to this tournament repeatedly just in the hope of winning and reviving 5 didsciples each time?
Is there a timer for making a wish? Nothing in canon is mentioned that someone delays to make their wish, but this too could be a good point of dramatic tension of one of the members on the team realising there isn't a time limit. What does it change? Do people outside of their team become antsy when one of them hasn't made their wish yet?
After DT, Genkai is revived because of Spirit Office (Koenma) interference (and bc Togashi couldn't imagine the next arc without her).
What does the Spirit World think of the DT victory wish, and could they have become antsy enough when someone has been sitting on a wish for 50 years to send Rando after them? In Genkai's tournament, she recognises some of the stolen techniques were from masters she had personally known, and she knew their weaknesses enough to laugh at Rando (I could be misremembering, I do remember she mocked him) when one of them backfires on him (the verbal spells with auditory/auditory processing conditions).
What did Toguro think of this? Genkai gives the impression that she thinks he always intended to do what he did, but he also did not really communicate with her about his thought process. Did he investigate the most at first, was he invested in the rumour? And was he perhaps devastated the more he learned? Could that have added to his sense of helplessness? Did he start to think that talking, at this point, wouldn't matter? ... Was that another thing he wanted to "teach" Yusuke?

Ramblings to the void, part 2.
Well, good news is that Vox Machina final show down with Ripley&Orthax is not going to be left to the season finale...
Bad news is that now I need to ramble about what is going to happen in episodes 7 to 9, and that means talking about spoilers from the campaing so for the ones interested in my theories, you are welcome.
Today is 15 of october 2024, and we are all anxious about what's going to happen to Percy, all the red flags were set for him, so is almost pretty sure Percy is going to die fighting Ripley.
For the ones that know the campaign or got spoiled by fanart/fanfictions (like me) know that Percy's death is one of the most shocking moments of the Vox Machina story, this can not NOT happen, but as I read in another post, Percy's death will mean something different that what it meant in the original campaign, so that means the events in the series will also be different.
As Liam O'brien say in the premiere of this season "the moments that hurt are going to hurt even more".
So here is my prediction... Percy is going to die, and he is going stay death.
Not permanently, of course 😅 pretty sure all the fandom would very upset with Matt Mercer if that happened.
What I think is going to happen is that Percy will die at the hands of Ripley, and when VM tries to ressurect him, the spell will fail, because his soul is going to taken away by Orthax, to his demon realm/whatever place Orthax inhabits.
VM will take Percy's body back to Whitestone and there's going to be a funeral, Grog is going to carry his coffin and everybody is going to be extremely sad, Vex will regret not telling how much she loves him, how she wanted a future and family with him, but her fear of losing him stopped her, and look, now she lost him and the regret hurts even more.
But here is where it lies the difference between the series and the campaign.
Campaign!Percy was not in a very good place mentally and emotionally, he and Vex barely acknowledged their feelings for each other, Percy still holds a deep guilt for Vex and Grog's death, I think Vax was still angry and hadn't forgiven him yet. Because of all this, Percy went to fight Ripley expecting to die, hence the goodbye letter he left for them, not even caring how they would dispose of his body.
And when VM attemps to ressurrect him after Keyleth defeats Orthax, he has to be convinced to come back. Taliesin confirmed that it was a 50/50 chance, that if it weren't for the sincere and moving words of the rest of the group, Percy would have been gone for good.
But Series!Percy is different, things are actually good for him. Before he knows about the attack to Whitestone, he is good and happy, he is with Vex, even if she still can't fully commit to their relationship, he and Vax made their peace and can be brothers again, he never gave Craven Edge to Grog and he didn't died because of it, they got one more vestige and defeated one more dragon, Percy has a family and a home. He has so much to look up for for his future and loved ones.
So, when his soul is taken away by Orthax, I don't think he's just to stay there and take it, Series!Percy is going to fight nail and tooth to come back, he's not going gentle into that good night, he will scream and kick and reach with all his being... And somebody is going to notice it.
My bet is on Vax and/or Vex (there's always been a strong bond between them), because of Vax connection to the Matron and death and Vex because of the power of love (cliche I know but you how it is lol), they are going to feel Percy's soul reaching for them, and that's how their fight againts Orthax starts.
Really hoping that it'll as spectacular as how it was when they fought Possessed!Percy.
And then, after Orthax is killed once and for all, Percy will be resurrected, and everybody, audience included, we are all going to cry of happiness that our white hair boy is back.
That's it, if Raishan doesn't kill all VM later lmao.
If you stick to my rambling, thank you so much, english is not my first language, so I'm sorry if some parts are painful to read lol but I really needed to get this out of my chest, is been so long since I was so invested in a story and characters, and this is the first time that I'm watching a series at the time that's being released, I'm always late to the fandoms that this is a novelty for me, like, I was seriously scared that Percy or Cass would die at the end of ep 6.
I and many more know this moment is coming, but it doesn't make it any less painful when it happens, and this shows how well writen is the story of The legend of Vox Machina.
Guys, guys, I usually, and for usually I mean never, do personal ramblings post because it feel to me like screaming into the void, but now the need has come, because The Legend of Vox Machina has my heart in a tight grip and it's not going to let me go for a long time, and I just need to ramble about S3 or I'm going to die.
Tumblr media
I just got into this fandom like three months ago and is been a wild ride from binging the whole two season to looking for fanart of my poor white hair blorbo to read a ton of fanfiction and even consider start writing again, to start watching the original D&D campaign (and I'm having a blast with that too) but since the trailer of S3 came out, I feel exciment... and fear...
Because, and I swear, that if Season 3 ends with Percy and Ripley final showdown and it ends like in the campaign (I got myself spoiled of that part, but it will still hurt like a mofo) AND THEN THEY LEAVE THE END OF THE FIGHT ON A CLIFFHANGER FOR SEASON 4...! I swear, I can't wait a year to have my poor Percy Mercy back.
Please, let me wrong on this one and don't let this rambling become a gift of prophecy from Apollo meme

TftW: Grocer Than Ever.
Grocer (Grosse Pointe Blank) TF/Possession elements.
~~~~~
Some villains just refuse to stay down and like with horror movie sequels the villain always comes back for one more chance to kill…but more than that given the reputation of some sequels and sometimes in order to do that they need to take control of the hero or someone close to them. Melanie Sanders had been making sure that her foes stayed deceased, even if they were likely to come back as members of the undead, she was giving a tour of the enemy graveyard when someone asked her a question. 'Miss Mel, Miss Mel.' 'Yes?' 'What about that part of the graveyard?' 'Oh no, no you don't go in there, you don't wanna go down that path.' 'Why?' She turned around for a few seconds before doing an impersonation of Jud Crandall from Pet Sematary. 'Because that there path is the path of the damned, where dead enemies come back to life for revenge, if you don't want to bring them back to life, you don't go down there and sometimes dead is better.' 'I see.'
"Follow me, and be careful."
"Yes, Miss Mel."
As the tour carried on, she kept a close eye on the guests…making sure nothing went wrong, but just as she was about to inspect one of the graves…one of the embalming fluid tubes suddenly got filled with a dark liquid which caused one of the graves to open with a loud creaking sound as one of the bodies rose out from it, that body was the body of Grocer from Grosse Pointe Blank, Grocer had come back as one of the undead and he sported a Return Of The Living Dead style zombie look. 'I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack! Time to plot my revenge against Martin for killing me. But how? This body of mine could be a problem, I might need a new tactic.' And that's when he thought of a new plan, he saw several people wandering by and decided to use this to his advantage, eerily singing 'She'll Be Coming Around The Mountain, he took on a transparent form before possessing numerous different people before getting over to where Mel was, before using his powers to possess Mel's best friend Eucalyptus. Mel was over at the memorial area and was about to give a speech.
'So many villains die here and each of them has a place here.' 'I bet you'd like to join them….' Eukie eerily sneered, her voice sounding like a mix of hers and Grocer's as she leaned forward in an attempt to slash her throat with a razor blade. 'Eukie! What have I told you about going Crazy Aykroyd mode?' the green-haired possessed koala-girl snapped out of it briefly. 'I know, i'm sorry. But I don't think it's me this time.' 'What do you mean?' 'Well…I feel like something has taken over me.' 'You mean as in possession?' 'Yes…come on Mel, help me.' Mel hurried over to help her friend but Eukie kept being taken over by Grocer, making her go into a psychotic state of wanting to chase down her bestie and stalk her.
"Whoever you are, get out of my best friend."
"Aaaaw come on, you wouldn't want me to stop playing with Eukie now would you? Of course you wouldn't, she is fun and now i'm going to have fun taking care of YOU!"
"That voice…I know you."
"Yes, does my voice ring a bell to you?"
Hearing the voice that was coming from her bestie's mouth, she recognized it as sounding Aykroydian and also a bit demented and psychotic, also slightly deeper in tone. Grocer's spirit left Eukie's body, returning Eukie to normal breifly before addressing Mel. 'Grocer! No, that isn't possible. You were killed. I saw it, I saw you get hit on the head with a television, you were electrocuted.' 'True, but a little something happened back at the graveyard. Some dark forces ressurected me and now I am back.' Grocer chuckled to himself, smirking at her. 'Eeeew…and you look even worse than you did last time.' 'It's great isn't it? I'm undead. And nobody can stop me now i'm undead and all.' 'We'll see about that.' The brown-haired koala-girl pulled out a chainsaw and charged towards him. 'I like it when you wield a dangerous weapon like that. We don't have to fight, you know.'
"You're making me consider slicing your head off."
'What good would that do? I'm not a zombie…granted I am undead but i'm not going to kill someone and eat their brain-hole.' 'You're still undead and i'm still going to slay you.' 'You wouldn't slay me would you?' 'You better believe I would.' 'I'm not after you, i'm after Martin. You're the key to helping me get revenge.' 'How exactly am I the key to this sick plan of yours?' 'It's simple. I need to recover my usual body/form and to do that I will need your body.' 'Eeeeew! I will not allow you to do this.' Before she could have any say in the matter, he took on his transparent form from before…charging right into her mouth and down her throat, she coughed several times and she felt like gagging, as her stomach gurgled in an unsettling manner. This was due to her stomach swelling and packing on a few pounds, her fur was also slowly transitioning into skin with the exception of a few remaining hairs which darkened and spread on her chest and arms. Her black button up shirt slowly tightening a little as her breasts retracted into her chest, which broadened and grew, making her look a bit hefty.
"What are you doing to me?"
"I'm making you into me…don't you worry, you will like it."
"Get out of me you creep."
She looked at her body and felt herself, Grocer's voice and manical laugh echoed in her mind, she attempted to resist…she didn't want to listen to him. 'Don't fight it, Mel. This was supposed to happen.' 'No it's not. I don't wanna be you.' 'You have no choice I am afraid.' She writhed as her arms broadened, her hands swelled as a pair of gloves resembling his materialized around her wrists and on her hands, she tried to resist and attempted to ignore his words but her aura was darkening, which was naturally a sign of her alignment change. In addition to this her legs broadened to go with her arms while her rear plumped up, she prided herself on her superheroic physique and now she was losing it, and that horrified her. Panicking she decided to get out her Smartphone and give it a ring. 'Hello Lithius, it's me Mel. I've got into a spot of trouble and I was wondering if you could….HEEEEEELP! Grocer from Grosse Pointe Blank has entered my body and now i'm turning into him and I need help…please come over!'
"Your boyfriend can't help ya now."
"Oh yes he can…I just know it."
Her privates altered into the male variant while her feet enlarged, her clothing slowly changing themselves into a perfect replica of Grocer's outfit, specifically the outfit he was wearing when he was killed off, she panicked as her back broadened and as did her shoulders and she slowly shot up in height to 6'1 as her tail retracted…she let out a piercing series of screams as Grocer's voice echoed in her mind, as if he was mocking her. Eukie wanted to help Mel but she was at a loss for words. 'Ugh…why does this have to be so painful? Someone please help me.' Tears ran down the koala-girl's face as her ears shrank down in size, her hair slowly shortened itself and spiked up, she sobbed as her brow altered and her eyebrows thickened, her eyes widening as one turned green while the other remained brown, she screamed as her nose broadened, a cleft materializing in the middle of it as her features plumed up. More horrified screams emitted from her mouth as her features slowly warpd themselves into the likeness of Grocer's own features, becoming less like her own. She was struggling internally since her aura was darkening, as Grocer's influence began clouding her thoughts…she was questioning whose side she was supposed to be on…..'Death, violence, destruction, revenge..bing bang bang boom popcorn. Wait a minute what am I saying? I'm not evil. I'm a hero, i'm a superhero.'
"Really? I think you're a perfectly good villain to me."
"You won't get away with this…my boyfriend and I will stop you."
"Don't you worry about Lithius, I have plans for him."
She attempted to resist several more times, attempting to keep the dark thoughts out of her mind but she was struggling, as the killer mindset was starting to influence her….she attempted to resist but in her mind she was conflicted, she was torn between wanting to help people and wanting to go after Martin Blank and cause destruction, destruction was sounding really good to her right now, as her voice deepened and contorted, warping into a perfect copy of his voice….she let out another scream as she grasped her head, screaming as her thoughts warped, all of my memories faded as she not only remembered being male but also a killer a killer named Grocer to be exact, a wicked smile crept across her face as Grocer's mind and personality overtook her own, dark thoughts influencing him fully as he laughed manically, Grocer was back…and more psycho than ever. 'I'm baaaaaaack! I can't wait until Blank sees me. He'll be in for a shock.' 'Nooooooo! I want my friend back.' 'Big problem, your friend is now also me…so if you want her back, you'll have to fight me.'
"If getting Mel back means i'll have to fight you…"
"Yes, you must if you want Mel back."
"No, I can't…I love her too much as a friend, if I hurt you it would mean hurting my friend."
Eucalytpus put down her weapon…'Too much of a softie? Very well, I accept your decision. But be warned…I shall return.' 'I'll be ready for you in that case.' The ressurected Grocer used his dark powers to create a shadow forcefield around himself before turning into smoke and disappearing, leaving Eukie to figure out how to go about this without her friend, luckily she had plenty of others to assist her with this and called up on Oats the Ponyta and the rest of the team to further aid her in her mission to get her bestie back, she was determined and wasn't going to lose.
"I will do whatever it takes, are guys with me?"
"Yes…Eukie."
In the meantime however, Grocer stalked the streets, searching for his nemesis, for he had revenge on the mind and wasn't planning on stopping. Now he had the dark powers of the undead at his disposal he was even more deranged than ever and he loved it. He unleashed all sorts of havoc from the shadows, striking all those who got in his way. It just goes to show you, sometimes villains just don't stay dead, sometimes they come back, oh yes…they come back.
