JK scares me to be honest with you. I keep saying people are looking at him wrong. Hell, people are looking at Jikook dynamics wrong I feel.

All the times Jikook have almost been accidentally outed, who's been the most terrified? It's not JK.

Jimin's face when RM said JK sneaks into JM's bed at night, his face when they walked into JK's room on Bon V and saw the cameras. I have an entire dissertation on this on my wall please get with it. Lol

Whatever silent protest JK's been on since JM's birthday last year- Not gonna lie, I felt JK was not posting for the others so he could post on JM's birthday this year as a way of coming out with him? You know, make a bold statement like he's done over the years? I'm delusional but also dead serious.

Each time I feel JK's come close to this pivotal moment, something's happened. I swear Jikook is taking years off my life- I'm exhausted.

Why is he trying to out their relationship on his own and not do that with the consent of Jimin? I'm gonna pray to God, y'all can read my mind with everything I have been saying since my posts because this is cutting it too close for me- and I'm exhausted so maybe another post next time.

Like I've said, I really believe they are in a good place this time around. Y'all know me, I don't shy from angst, I'd say if I felt there's been something off with them since they fixed whatever they were going through early half of the year.

The only tension I've sensed between them lately was on day two of the online concert when JM got a little too excited with trying to sell the sexual tension fantasy in his other ships and JK didn't look like he was happy about.

The question y'all should be asking is why he didn't post for the others in the first place. They are all friends and posting for eachother's birthdays is a long standing tradition in BTS so why is he breaking from this culture all of a sudden?

Is he rebelling? Is he protesting? What is he trying to do? Right?

This moment has been building up since last year after JM's birthday and I honestly believed he was going to go through with it- hell I bought a wedding dress and shit- Jikook you son of bish!

I have said the company is giving them much room to be themselves, RM isn't breathing down their necks, JM looked like he was finally committed- everything looked great between them in my opinion except perhaps for the growing tensions between JK, V and Namjoon- If you've been paying any attention to their recent Twitter war.

I hate speculating based on nothing, so I'm just going to point out to you my observations without drawing conclusions- I'll share my thoughts on what these moments means when I've had more content to peruse and analyze from now- but for now you can make of it what you will:

1. JK starts a count down on Twitter, JM responds and continues the countdown.

Now I clocked, the moment JK posted this on the 5th that he had something up his sleeves with regards to Jimin which I shared with y'all. He was going for a 5/8/13 it's not news now.

2. After Jimin posts day 4 for the countdown, who ever was going to post after him was going to have to post day 3 to continue the countdown right? But Tae posts a V-cut instead breaking that chain.

Now I remember joking about this moment with a friend, rolling my eyes exclaiming, here they go again! V is trying to sabotage JK yet again, and he'd turn around and ask why their friendship is dwindling. The pettiness and passive aggressiveness of it all!

That moment reminded me of when he called JK out for attempting to eyefuck JM through the viewfinder in the Dynamite MV reaction video. Remember that? Same energy to me.

They do shit like this and their shippers will not take note but will turn around and act surprised when we say Taekook ain't all that- rolling my eyes.

3. Hobi continues the countdown with day 3 and RM posts something random the next day but I think it was to neutralize the Taekook shenanigans. Neutralizing is what RM does best- we been knew.

4. Jk posts his Savage Love cover on the 8th and equally doesn't partake in the countdown he himself initiated because- Savage.

5. Suga posts day 2. RM and Jin posts day 1 and Tae posts D-Day on the D day to promote the concert. Yadda yadda yadda.

Now I didn't think much of this moment to be honest- i merely took a mental note of it for future reference, and was paying close attention to their interactions at the concert- which we will talk about soon..

I didn't make much of this bit until VJoonKook became a hold out on Jimin's birthday. They were the last three to post, two of whom ended up not posting at all for Jimin"s birthday- fucking traitors.

There's just a lot going on all at once and it's easy to lose sight of subtle moments like these when they happen.

Y'all know I've been keeping my eyes on the app, most especially how the members are going to use it post IPO, post Soop- I have a lot of questions; will they be monitored like they were in May? Will they be able to have intimate interactions with the fans like before?

Now as for what this moment here means, I think it's a humbling experience for all of us but mostly for Jimin-JK you sonova bish! Lol

Jimin is the one who loves to flex his bond and relationship with JK, he loves to show off their relationship. He is the one who's been called all sorts of names under the sun just because of his relationship with JK- even if they are friends.

I don't know what's going on with JK now but I am not about to tell you this moment is nothing. It is not nothing.

I have said JK likes to retract and conceal and only shows what he chooses to show and this was his choice. It's as simple as that. He chose not to post.

It's one thing to not post for the others, but it's different for Jimin. And this is not to say the others don't matter to JK, they do. Personally, I'm hurt by all of this. It hurts me that some people are going to use this as an excuse to tease and bully Jimin, call him a liar, call into question the years of friendship between Jikook, call into question any future interactions between them- I don cried my eyes out all day for Jimin but also for JK.

JK was on to something I'm just curious to know what stopped him this time around. I want to know if he plans on not posting at all for anyone in the future. How long is he going to keep at it?

He's tried to out them twice. Will he do it again? How is he going to do it? What is Jimin going to do if indeed this is what JK had been planning, how is this going to affect their dynamics- I'm excited for their journey however it goes.

It's their journey unauthored. I'm just here to observe and report- and may uWu while I'm at it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, we gotta ask ourselves, had JK posted anything at all today knowing full well he hasn't posted at all for anyone in the group all year, that what would that have meant for their relationship? What message would that have sent?

While we lament about this moment, let's also take a minute to ponder over what this moment might have signified if JK had actually posted.

Everything he did in the days leading up to Jimin's birthday pointed to the fact he was definitely going to post. To me it felt he was gonna come out. He was. And if he had done it- my god!

JK isn't my favorite person right about now. He can go ahead and step on leggos. No kithes for him🙄

But I have faith in him. Always. He's consistently shown and proven his love and loyalty for Jimin through out the years. You don't nibble on a man's ear in front of sixty thousand people, to find posting a simple message on his birthday tedious. This is Jikook. If it feels wrong, it is wrong.

I’m so sorry you’ve been down lately by the way, I hope this is a good enough birthday present and that it cheers you up a bit.

You have vague, fading memories of being woken up by someone singing ‘happy birthday’ to you. They’re old images, the last vestiges of childhood that stay dormant at the back of your mind. But as Jason stands before you— bed-headed and blushing with his baritone voice stretching the vowels in each word before he finishes in a large breath— you can’t help but feel the tingly warmth of nostalgia and the sheer love you have for him mingle together, coating your skin like champagne bubbles. He graces you with a slow smile that hooks from one corner of his mouth and then to the other, his eyes crinkling and his ears are pinkened still. Just looking at him already feels like the best birthday present.

“I made you breakfast,” he says, proudly. He leaves the room on light feet and comes back with a laden tray of your favourite foods, artfully laid out around a cupcake with a candle in it. “Make a wish, little bird.”

You’re rightfully a little speechless. He’s so sweet and while it definitely isn’t strange to feel him showering you with apt attention, everything feels more intense because you know he's trying hard for your birthday.

He chuckles when you blow out the candle. You stretch your arms out for him and he comes willingly.

“I love this so much, Jay. Thank you.”

“This,” he hums, pressing a kiss to your mouth. “Is only the beginning.”

“Oh Jay, We don’t have-”

“Yes, we do. Are you good with that? ”

“With what...exactly?”

He starts cutting small squares of food, places a cup of coffee into your hands and holds out a fork to feed you. “Well, you know how in the movies people plan surprises for their partners and then their like ‘get ready, we’re going to do stuff.’ It’s that but less creepy and not without consent. So I’m asking you…” he pauses, eyebrows raised. “Do you give me permission to take you out today to a bunch of surprise places?”

“Yes,” you say through a mouthful of food.  He grins, soothing your hair back and reaching for another forkful. Your heart feels full and bursting. You don’t care what he’s planned or where he takes you, its enough that he’s remembered at all. You tell him this, and he rolls his eyes, pausing in his actions of feeding you to tug you to him by your waist.

“You deserve so many good things because you’re the best person. I wish I could give you the world but I can’t and it kills me. So let me just do this one thing, yeah?”

Except it isn’t one thing. It’s a day full of things he’s planned to make up for every single shitty birthday you’ve had. He could never get it out of his head after you told him about your birthday being forgotten or pushed to the side. It was a confession, a small one, and you laughed it off afterwards to chase away the rigidity of your spine. Your body language made it clear that you wished you hadn’t said anything and the moment closed with you quickly changing the subject. Because what you had with him was fleeting and fragile at the time, he let it go. But not without vowing to give you the best birthday ever.

He knew a thing or two about forgotten birthdays, and he also knew what it felt like to be given a grandeur celebration right when you started to believe that you weren’t worth it. It was a restoration of hope, albeit tiny, that he wanted to give to you.

“Can I ask what to wear?”

“Anything you want to, gorgeous.”

Gotham greets your birthday with a rare glimpse of sunshine that warms you to the bone. Jason holds you tightly in the middle of the street and kisses your breathless before the first stop of the day. It’s an antique bookstore hidden between the modern storefronts of high-end brands uptown. He trails behind you through the shelves, pointing out his favourites and whispering the best lines in your ear. He insists on buying you three books with soft, yellowed pages and thick spines; insists that books like that deserve homes and love and attention and you can’t but feel he isn’t actually talking about them.

There’s a concert in the park next. Some band that you love and he sings along to all the songs with you, at the top of his lungs. You get ice-cream afterwards. He smushes the vanilla cone you ordered against your nose and lets you chase him with his own strawberry one.

There’s a pink ice cream stain on his t-shirt when he pulls you into the city art museum that earns a few rightful stares. But you can’t care about that when he curls his body over your own next to the post-modern exhibition of the gallery. His mouth is cool and his kiss tastes sweet enough to leave you tangling your fingers into his dark hair to drag him closer. He spends the next few hours telling you that you’re the only true art in the building. You let him because it’s nice to hear and because he still flusters when he says it.

When evening sets, the sunset muting the bustle of the world, he wraps his jacket around you, handing you a warm churro as he marches you home.

“You tired yet?” he asks.

You hum into his shoulder “No.”

“Good, cause we have one more thing to do. But are you having fun?”

“I always have fun with you, Jay.”

His face goes still for a moment, and then he kisses you until you’re both smiling.

As the door to your apartment opens, you find a stack of presents waiting for you near the couch. Jason looks pointedly away when you stare at him with raised eyebrows. He deigns to direct you to the bedroom instead, leading you with long touches down your spine.

“Ok, you get a break from my annoying ass for ten minutes and then you meet me up on the roof”

“No,” you reach for him and he leans down to brush his nose against your own. “Stay, c’mon. You’ve given me a really great day. Let me say thank you.”

He chuckles. “Day’s not over yet. I have something to do. Go on, take a bath, put on something you like. You can thank me later.”

Intrigued, you wrinkle your nose at his instructions. But when he makes it clear that he isn’t budging until you comply, you dutifully go about sinking yourself into a tub of hot water and essential oils. It doesn’t fail to escape you how pampered you are. How truly understood and loved by Jason you are. You can’t think of anything else he could give you (also considering the heap of presents you’re yet to open) that could make you feel anything more than the luckiest person in the world.

It’s only until you’re dressed, standing in the doorway of the stairs leading to the roof, that you see where you’re wrong. The first thing that steals your breath away is the sheer intensity of the collective “Surprise!” you’re greeted with. Friends, family; anyone and everyone that holds you dear, huddles together under glittering fairy lights and warm lanterns. All smiling faces and tight hugs. With each enthusiastic birthday greeting, you grow a bit closer to tears.

When you’re finally in Jason’s presence, they threaten to come bursting out despite his sheepish grin. He’s the picture of elegance in a cobalt tux, brandishing a bouquet of roses almost as comfortably as they were his guns.

“Happy Birthday, little bird.”

“You did all this for me?” you ask disbelievingly. A towering cake stands nearby, and there’s more than a few members of the Justice League stumbling around, you’re sure.

“You deserve so much more than this.” He says it with such conviction, it’s almost easy to believe him.

You want to say thank you, but you find there aren’t enough words in your repertoire of language to express how grateful you are. You settle for kissing him instead.

“Can I ask one thing?”

“What’s that little bird?”

“How did you convince a bunch of couples to be here on Valentine’s day?”

“Oh, it was tough and I expect there’s going to be some making out on our furniture for sure.”

Apart from Nyx’s rowdy chat etiquette—which she was fairly used to—what bugged Crowe was her memory of things: she clearly remembered getting partied out a couple of nights back thanks to Drautos’s birthday party hosted by no less than the Glaive’s personally-dubbed veteran party animal, Clarus Amicitia.

There was a brief minute of pause in the group chat commotion, and then:

While the conversation rolled along, Crowe still had this nagging feeling that the entire arrangement was too… odd. Luche easily joining this nonsense was already out of the ordinary, but Axis—quiet and soft-spoken Axis Arra—replying to this mess and just agreed to help organize this shitstorm? Crowe had seen her friends do strange things, but this one weirdly made her queasy. Not to mention, they have been acting rather funny around her these past couple of days. She stared at her phone screen, trying to rake her thoughts on that last party. She was definitely sure that party happened. She could still taste the acrid smoke from that sordid bar, and she could still remember hooking up with that heavily tattooed man whose name was the only thing that she lost in her nebulous memory.

Just when Crowe was about to protest for a clarification, another message arrived from Nyx:

Crowe sighed in exasperation as she scrolled away to more chunks of messages. Before the chat group could spiral into a new brand of trouble and out of its original topic, she finally managed to type her response:

As well? Nyx hated attaching that in any phrase, Crowe remembered, for reasons beyond her. Despite the group’s typical rascally response, Crowe still felt skeptical about the whole affair. With reservation, she decided to give her overthinking head a rest and get along with their shady plan.

She quickly thumbed another message:

She chewed on her lip, praying to the gods that she won’t be assigned with something out of her comfort zone, so she added:

Crowe particularly had a severe dislike talking with her other superiors, specifically Cor, Clarus, and even King Regis himself, after saying something completely inappropriate at a Kingsglaive gala two years prior. After that embarrassment, she sealed everyone outside of her Glaive circle for self-preservation.

The sudden inactivity in the chat group made Crowe want to throw another message for good measure, until Luche broke the momentary radio silence:

Crowe sank back to her sheets and turned off her phone so she could finally get some decent shut eye without the distraction from the Glaive chat group. She stared at the ceiling, trying to quell the unusual excitement  that bubbled up in her chest, until it was brutally ambushed by a feeling that often creeped up on her whenever she started to enjoy any form of happiness.

On occasions such as these, Crowe wondered how celebrating birthdays would feel like. It was not as if she wanted to keep her birthday from everyone else—she just never knew what her actual birth date was. Having brought up as an orphan, she had figured that birthdays were only afforded to people living with their biological parents. Or people with legitimate paperwork. She had neither the luxury of those things. Sometimes, she would look at herself in the mirror, study her face, and scrutinize her chocolate brown hair, her brown eyes, and the angular structure of her cheekbones. Crowe thought that maybe, this was how her mother would have looked like, or her father...

Crowe groaned in disdain. She didn’t need the pity party at this ungodly time. She pulled the sheets over her head as she promptly derailed the depressing train of thought, pressed her eyes shut, and forced herself to sleep.

Crowe did as she was told and brought additional liquor with her on her way to the Kingsglaive HQ. She was pretty certain that alcoholic drinks were prohibited around the Citadel premises, but no one seemed to have caught her, so she just casually marched on toward the hallway. She rounded into a corner, where she saw Nyx standing by the doorway leading to the briefing room, holding his phone close to his ear.

When he saw Crowe approaching, he tucked his phone in his jacket. Nyx nervously beamed, “Hey there!”

Crowe raised an eyebrow out of suspicion. “What are you doing outside? Where are the others?”

Nyx answered, “Well, actually, they’re on their way but Captain Drautos is already coming in any minute—“

“Weren’t you supposed to be the one to keep him occupied?” Crowe asked, narrowing her eyes at Nyx. She had a bad feeling about this.

Nyx held her by the shoulders. “Yes, but change of plans. Look, can you please help holding off on the Captain for a while—“

Crowe instantly shrugged his hands off. “Nope.”

“Please?”

“Not interested.”

“With a cherry on top?”

“Gods, Nyx—you had one job.”

“Alright, fine,” Nyx ceased making any further effort, raising both his hands in casual surrender.

That was surprisingly easy, Crowe thought. If anything, Nyx was persistent, but this...

She let it slide. Crowe rolled her eyes and sauntered past Nyx. She opened the door and—

“Surprise!”

The confetti exploded from the party poppers in myriad of colors, together with the booming voices of the rest of the Glaives. The entire open space of the briefing room was filled with familiar faces—Libertus, Pelna, and Tredd each had a Li’l Malbuddy balloon in their hands, while Axis, Sonitus, and Luche carried a Li’l Malbuddy plush toy. The walls were decorated with scarlet-colored streamers and rows of gold letter balloons.

It took a while for Crowe to register that the balloons spelled a Happy Birthday Crowe! which totally did not make sense to her at all.

“Wait, what’s going on? I thought—guys, is this a fucking prank?” She bewilderedly trailed off. She was about to lash out until she saw Captain Drautos walking towards her, which even added more confusion to this entire event. “Captain?”

Drautos shook his head and addressed the Glaives. “You fools, I told you she wouldn’t get it if I didn’t give this to her first,” he casually smacked Nyx at the back of the head. They all burst out laughing. “Anyway, it’s because of this—“

The captain handed a brown envelope to Crowe, which she flipped open. Inside was a record, a file with her full name and her… birthdate.

Crowe gasped and croaked out the words in disbelief. “Wait, today’s… my birthday?”

“We found your records with Clarus’s help,” Drautos explained. “I regret ever mentioning it to Nyx as soon as I found out—the word spread like wildfire among your peers. It was a surprise that you didn’t find it out, with Nyx being a loudmouthed idiot. Anyway, the Glaives thought of throwing you a surprise party since you’ve never celebrated your birthday with us before—or uh, I’m sorry, I mean, it’s not that you didn’t want—“

“It’s fine, sir,” Crowe stared at the file she was holding. There it was, written in permanent ink: full details of her birthplace and birthdate. It didn’t disclose any info on her biological parents, but Crowe couldn’t care less. She read and reread, helplessly trying to wrap her head around all of this, until all she could say was: “Thank you. Really, guys, thank you—but wait. That thing in the chat was…”

“That was actually Nyx about to spill the beans with his drunken little mouth,” Pelna admitted, stepping closer with the Li’l Malbuddy balloon hovering above his head. The rest of the Glaives followed, gathering around Crowe. Pelna continued, “I was with him so I had to punch him right in the mouth for being dumb. We had a different chat group specifically for Operation Crowe. We humbly thank the gods that Luche was just smooth enough to save that conversation and we all had to improvise to throw you off the scent.”

“Well, someone had to keep you guys in check so you’re welcome,” Luche smugly added. “And by the way, you gotta thank the crown prince’s advisor for this merch. He tipped us off on where to find these.” Luche, Axis, and Sonitus rewarded Crowe with the Li’l Malbuddy plushies.

“You guys were… all together in this?” Crowe asked, and strangely enough, she was genuinely touched by the idea that everyone joined for this effort. She wanted to squeeze everyone into a hug and beat them all up for giving her feelings.

“Of course—everything for our little sister,” Nyx grinned, slinging an arm around Crowe’s shoulders.

“Don’t make me claw your eyes out,” Crowe said, elbowing him on his side that Nyx winced in pain.

“Whatever. Happy birthday, munchkin,” Nyx hugged Crowe. With the thought finally sinking in, tears of utmost happiness began to threaten her eyes. She wanted to punch herself in the face for wanting to cry.

Crowe looked curiously at Nyx, still controlling herself with her happy tears. “So is this why you guys have been acting weird for the past days?”

“See, I told you guys she’ll notice,” Libertus remarked. “Now, give her the damn cake before she starts crying!”

“I’m not crying! There’s just, I don’t know, a rock in my eye...” Crowe sniffed, and the rest of the crew laughed.

Libertus playfully shoved Nyx away from Crowe and wrapped her into a big bear hug. “Happy birthday, Crowe.”

“Thank you guys so much,” Crowe said with a teary-eyed smile on her face.

Roaring fits of laughter bellowed around the room when Pelna finally brought out a ghastly dick-shaped cake with a candle sitting at its tip.

Tredd announced, “So I know Pelna promised a boob cake, but Luche wanted the D—“

“It was the only cake available, asshat—“ Luche interrupted with a sneer. Everyone was still laughing at the atrocity of the confection in front of them.

“Sorry Luche, the D’s not for you,” Pelna teased. “Give this one a blow, baby girl.”

“Oh my god, I hate all of you!” Crowe laughed and cried. When it came to the business of brewing the finest hilarity and crazy antics, Crowe couldn’t trust anyone else aside from her comrades.

Everyone joined in and sang her an equally cheery and drunken happy birthday. And on occasions like these, Crowe found it difficult to permit herself to relish the happiness. But in the company of the people Crowe now considered as family, she finally did—and there was no place in Eos that she would rather be.

today i discovered that thing in pokemon where if u go into a poke center on ur birthday it does a little birthday thing and it’s so cute????? tbh i was like “wtf” bc i had literally no idea so i looked it up and apparently it’s been a thing since x/y so i guess i’ve just never played pkmn on my birthday before?? it was such a cute little surprise aaaaa

i also did animal crossing bc i know that game does a bday thing and fang hosted the party which made me happy bc he’s my fave (i mean wart jr will always be my fave but fang is like my favorite villager who actually lives in my town rn, also hes cute and i love him)

as for irl celebrating, not much?? lol my mom was going to make a cake but she discovered we have no eggs and part of her religion is to not go out/buy things on sunday so we’re postponing cake til later (im excited tho bc it’ll be red velvet and then we also have mochi ice cream aka the Best)

we’re going to universal studios tomorrow, not as a bday thing tho it’s just bc our passes stop being blocked out and it’s a day we can all go together so hopefully that’ll be fun, idk bc it’s supposed to rain tomorrow but my mom says not until the afternoon so like ok w/e Mom

honestly it’s been kind of a weird bday bc like, not to sound idk spoiled or whatever but since my bday is jan 1 im used to like watching the rose parade and having cinnamon rolls (idk if literally anyone else does that but my mom always makes cinnamon rolls for new years so it’s like a tradition) and that’s sort of become part of what defines my birthday to me so it just felt a little off this year since it all got moved back a day but w/e??? im not complaining abt it or anything it’s just different
