Being Team Japan’s Manager
Manager into crafts
Team Japan x Gender Neutral Manager (they/them)
Warnings: Like all fluff, maybe swearing???
AN: I’m back on my bs again and here to feed everyone 😅 sorry it’s so sporadic but I hope this holds everyone over for a bit!
When I say you should be nominated for sainthood Yn, I mean it!
These guys are a lot to deal with
Honestly, you have no clue how they even functioned before you came along
I mean, the coach practically begged you to be their manager
Man’s is tired 😴
Anyways, it’s safe to say that practices are eventful
Despite’s Bokuto saying he’s “matured”, he hasn’t
“How come Hinata got more sets than I did?” Bokuto asks Atsumu
You 👉🏻😃 crap he noticed-
“It’s simple, Hinata was just on today and you weren’t,” Atsumu responses, walking away
Bokuto 👇🏻
Meanwhile, Yaku and Hakuba are arguing about something 🙄
“That’s block sucked man, stop moving your hands all over!” Yaku shouts
“I wasn’t moving my hands all over, I was setting up for a receive when I knew I couldn’t block!” Hakuba yells back
On top of that Iwaizumi is yelling at Kageyama for practicing too much
Sakusa is complaining about how everyone needs to schedule their flu shot
And Aran has just all but abandoned the gym because he’s just over it
Thankfully, when practice was over, you were able to go home and spend some time enjoying one of your favorite hobbies
Crafting ✂️ 🎨 🧶
You had tried a lot of different crafts and found that you were pretty good at them
Everything from painting to knitting, from sculpting to resin
You enjoyed the creativity that crafts provided
It could be stressful but definitely not as stressful as your day job
Nothing can ever beat that stress 🙄
Anyways, you’d managed to keep your hobby on the down low
It wasn’t that you weren’t proud, it was more like you just hadn’t found the opportunity to bring it up
I mean, it’s not like you’re busy or something 😐
It wasn’t until one fateful night when your happy little secret was finally discovered
You see, you were home, watching/listening to some show while trying to knit
It was a newer hobby you’d picked up, on top of jewelry making, crocheting, etc
A jack of all trades our sweet YN 💅
You are knee deep in ‘knit one purl two’ rhythm when the door bell rings
Now since you had very little life outside the team, you were wondering who it could possibly be
You didn’t want to lose your stitch so you stood up and made your way to the door
On the other side was none other then Hinata and Kageyama
Panicked you quickly opened the door and stared at them
🎶 when he looks at me, and I look at him and he looks at me and I LOOK AT HIMMM 🎶
Obviously, you are draped in yarn while dawning other comfy attire 💅
Arguably two of the most “chaotic” members of the team just stare at you
Literally 👉🏻👁️👄👁️
You look at them like “What? Can’t I have a life outside of being your caretaker?”
Of course Hinata probably thinks you just escaped some maniac who attempted to tie you up with yarn of all things…
“OMG YN WHERE YOU KIDNAPPED??” Hinata yells, grabbing onto your shoulders and shaking you rather violently
“I’m in my own house Shoyo…” you respond, brain trying to reconnect to reality
Leave it to Kageyama to help the situation
“HINATA BOKE YN ISNT KIDNAPPED, THEY ARE PRACTICING THEIR KNOT TYING SKILLS!” Kageyama screams, smacking Hinata in the back of the head
See… helping 😌
Sighing as the two dunces fight in front of you, you try to calmly correct their mistake
“I’m not kidnapped, nor am I practicing any nautical knot tying, I’m learning to knit,” you explain as the two cock an eyebrow in your direction.
Both of them look at each other and then back to you, confused 🫤
You 👉🏻😐🙄
“You know what, it’s really not important! What do you two need?” You question, wondering why you were interrupted in the first place
“Well now I can’t remember why we came here!” Hinata exclaims, “can you Kageyama?”
“Yeah not really,” Kageyama answers
You definitely deserve a pay raise Yn
“Ok well if you two could kindly go home and rest that would be much appreciated. You know how angry Hajime gets when you guys don’t get enough sleep,” you scold as the two men’s eyes widen
They quickly take off, racing each other to who knows where
As you close and lock your door, you think about how the next days practice with go
Will Hinata and Kageyama tell the other guys about your hobby?
Will Hinata and Kageyama even remember?
Honestly you figure brain cells are on your side since the two that just exited your apartment have a combined one on a good day
There’s no way they’d ever tell the guys about your knitting…
Sure… yeah… absolutely… it’s DEFINITELY fine : D
*12 hours later*
“YN I didn’t know you tied nautical knots on your days off? What a unique hobby!” Yaku says, first the next morning at practice
“I didn’t even know you fished Yn,” Hakuba adds
“Maybe YN just likes the art of knot making?” Aran suggests
You 👉🏻 🧍🙄
“I don’t tie knots guys, I knit… KNIT!” You shout as their eyes all pop open
“Knit? As in like what grandmas do?” Atsumu inputs
Please someone 👊🏻
“Atsumu shut up! Knitting is something alot of people do to relieve stress. And with a team filled with dummies like you, I’m sure YN needs all the stress relieve they can get!” Iwaizumi shouts
“Oh my god,” you whisper as the gym fills with chatter
“Why didn’t you tell us about your hobby Yn?” Ushijima asks as you just stare at him and gesture to the chaos that is currently unfolding
Ushijima just nods and quietly walks away to resume his practice
“So YN do you knit? Like scarves or port holders or something?” Suna questions as he walks with you to your office
“Well I’m just learning the art right now but I do a few other crafts in my spare time,” you say, still ignoring whatever is happening on the floor
“That’s cool, you should post some of your crafts online. I’m sure you could sell them or something? Maybe make a little extra money?”
You shrug, not really interested in extra funds and more excited to just do something you enjoy
Or should I say, the TEAM enjoys 😅
Because if you think you’re going to get away with not teaching one craft Yn, you are very mistaken
Hinata is sending you 5 minute craft videos every day
Bokuto wants to know if you can knit special pads for him for practice
Atsumu is asking for a custom “Atsumu” phone case 🙄
It literally doesn’t stop
So what do we do about this? Well there’s only one thing we CAN do 👀
🎉 CRAFT PARTY 🎉
That’s right, you gather all your craft supplies and haul them into the gym one Friday during practice
The guys all stare at you like you’ve walked into the wrong gym
“Uhh Yn you do know this is a volleyball gym right?” Yaku jokes as you set up your table on the side lines and nod
“Yep! But after practice it’s going to be a craft party!”
“Craft… PARTY???” The guys all shout in tones varying from excitement to pure confusion
“Yes since you all want me to make you crafts, I’m just going to show you how to do it instead!” You exclaim
“You made sure to get non-toxic glue right Yn? I don’t trust some of the idiots not to eat it,” Sakusa remarks, staring at a few members in particular
You roll you eyes and smile, “yes Sakusa, it’s all safe! And I have crafts for everyone.”
Surprisingly, the guys are rather good at crafts
Sakusa’s flexibility makes crocheting and knitting a piece of cake
Atsumu’s flamboyant nature makes him great at painting
Hinata and Kageyama have somehow turned bracelet making into a competition
Komori and Yaku are great with stencils!
And you? You are just happy to be able to share your hobby with your favorite people 🥰

Your thoughts about Pickles for the ask meme (or Nathan if he’s already been asked about)?
One of my newer asks asked about Pickles so let’s do Nate!
1) Uncommon headcanon about them I am deeply attached to.
Nathan having ADD...it’s just a wonderful headcanon to me because I was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD as a kid and I realize now that I do have ADHD-so Nathan can have ADD as a treat.
2) Widely-held headcanon about them that I reject.
I feel like the hot takes i have are regarding Nathan/Abigail but even then, it’s more of just hating how fandom treats them together. Hi, I know the show did butcher this badly but the same way people forget about Bookklok when shipping Skwis/tok, I can probably do the same or something-
I think the headcanon of Abigail being ‘too good’ for Nathan when he’s an autistic character and people headcanon Abigail as this ‘queen’ is just...ehh. I feel like this is some deep-rooted ableism because at that point, i don’t even think people like the ship because of the show. I think people just don’t wanna ship an independent woman with an autistic male character because those relationships clearly don’t exist in a healthy manner, right? I do like to think people just mean well and don’t take the autistic part into consideration but the same way fandom likes to bring the years of female tropes and such, please remember autistic people have suffered just as much in media. If anyone doesn’t ship Abigail/Nathan because of the show, writing, HC her as a lesbian, wanna say fuck you to Brendon for some reason, go wild!
3) What were they like as a kid? What was their early life like?
Nathan was definitely the quiet kid. He was always quiet even as a baby. He never really cried as often or made much of any sounds. His parents, bless their souls honestly, just assumed it was a part of who he was and didn’t look into it because he was an only child and generally firstborn autistic kids can end up being overlooked as there is no other kids to compare their growth to. While they were the best possible parents anyone could ask for, he does sometimes wish he got properly diagnosed.
Nathan’s shyness is often confused for kindness and it doesn’t help his mother would be THAT woman who’d bring cupcakes to class on his birthday so he actually had good friends who would include him in things :) He just had a relatively happy childhood, minus the fact his entire class was killed but he did get therapy for it because his parents are good people!! He did deal with some school bullies here and there but his father taught him how to fight and he surely showed his strength quickly enough to not be picked with. I do feel like after the murder of his classmates, he would’ve had a dark time where people were afraid to approach him seeing him as ‘bad luck’ sadly. But also, kids are kids and some kids like to be around bad luck so he never got to be truly lonely :D
4) Symbols/motifs that I associate with them–colors, animals, zodiac signs, mythic themes, imagery, objects, etc.
I really associate more of the darker colors with him, the colors in the deepest parts of the ocean where there is almost no light. Animals are definitely alligators for him but I do compare him to a teddy bear sometimes because he seems like a soft big bear!! I admit I haven’t thought much of zodiac signs for him but definitely one of the water signs. For Mythic themes/symbolism, definitely water. It’s dark and unforgiving but at the same it can be light and fun and a source of life. There is definitely symbolism of him being a water God I could go into forever! :O
5) Other characters or types of people I have in mind when I draw and/or write them.
Peter Steele...because...reasons...
And also George fisher :D his video of how he goes coupon hunting on target is super adorable and helped me shape Nathan in being more lovable!
6) What I project onto them when I draw and/or write them.
the autism and ADHD/ADD babey-
When I write Nathan, I kinda take some part of myself that I had buried long ago because people like me either sink or swim in the US education system and I was barely doing both- (3/10 do not recommend)-Nathan is just this person with a lot of love to give and has a hard time expressing it that isn’t in song! I guess I like to write characters in a self-projection way. How Nathan speaks, thinks and acts is something I try to write carefully in a non-offensive way and I feel like even using how I was as a kid probably is the best comparison though a lot more mature; absolutely fucking confused on what’s going on but there’s sometimes trips to McDonald’s so yay :D
7) A surprising hobby, interest, or phobia they have.
Nathan crochets!!! Yes this is my hobby/thing now because it’s such a relaxing hobby to get to do. The amount of projects you can make, the idea of Nathan’s big hands holding a small crochet needle is really cute, and the fact he can make so many projects for people is just really endearing :’). He will not let anyone know he made it though but it’s obvious he did and he will deny it-
I do think Nathan has a fear of connection in a sense. I feel like his relationship with Rebecca really affected him and made him fearful of dating for a while. It’s hard to be close to someone, especially if you end up attracting the wrong type of people. While Nathan got lucky finding nice women like Rachel, he was just afraid of something happening so he’d break things off quickly before he really got a chance to connect with them. Trindle was probably the closest he had a long term relationship because she was sweet, just a little insane in her motives, but Abigail would be the one to really coax him out of his shell on his own pace.
#nathan explosion#ableism mention tw#thanks for asking!! :O#agaricales#Insomniac Coffee Talks [asks]

alright, you know what
about two weeks ago maybe by now, i made a post about how i’ve recently hit 200 followers and i’d like to do a q&a again, and even with a reblog from someone more ~*popular*~ than me, and multiple reblogs once a day for a few days by myself, i didn’t get a single fucking question. not one. earlier today i posted two pictures of myself where i felt pretty (i’ve since deleted them) and nobody i actually know of liked it and i got asked by a stranger who doesn’t even follow me if i had any nsfw pictures. i don’t get asks anymore, i don’t get shit. and that tells me that, you may be following me, but you aren’t connecting with me. and i feel that. i get on tumblr and i don’t feel like i’m friends with fucking anybody. and i did that. i know i did that. 9/10 times i let my fear of rejection and embarrassing myself overcome my desire to talk to people, so i don’t do it, or i let it fizzle out and we go our own ways and we don’t become friends. 1/10 times i actually function as a human being and make a connection or at least something that sticks a little.
so here, below the cut, is a comprehensive (loosely) list of things that i like, in no particular order at all, besides tickling, because apparently both sides of this need a little help connecting on any front.
scooby-doo
beetlejuice
the addams family
the sims
the mcu
classic disney animations; my favorites are dumbo, the great mouse detective, the rescuers, sleeping beauty, and oliver and company (it’s old enough that i consider it in the classic category)
~modern disney animations too; my favorites are treasure fucking planet, coco, and... i’m a sap, beauty and the beast. rise of the guardians too even though it isn’t disney.
musicals; i can’t pick a favorite just fucking ask me, but i don’t know a lot of newer ones honestly
empire records
the greatest showman still
cats (i mean the animals but i also like the show even though it is Weird As Hell)
my cat in particular
alice in wonderland
stranger things
space jam
tsum tsums
elvira, mistress of the dark
dice
kiki’s delivery service and specifically jiji things
winnie the pooh i don’t even fucking care i LOVE HIM AND ALL OF HIS FRIENDS
silly hats
playdoh
interesting earrings
exploring libraries or big bookstores
true crime mysteries; my favorite youtuber for this is georgia marie, bless her. i also watch bella fiori and kendall rae
fictional mysteries too
i have a kind of fascination with jack the ripper and with the lizzie borden case
shipwrecks! i don’t know why but shipwrecks fascinate me! why did they go down? all the stories that went with them!
i once read a novel that was told as a series of letters, or journal entries, by people on the titanic, including the iceberg and it was THE absolute saddest book i have ever read in my life. like, obviously i knew what was coming, but i got attached to the characters, the letters made them alive and it was just like... NO. NO I DON’T WANT THEM TO DIE. I KNOW THEY’RE GOING TO BUT THEY CAN’T. and it was awful. i had to put it down and cry.
cryptozoology
the bermuda triangle theories (i’m not saying i believe sOmEtHiNg’S gOiNg On but i think some of the theories are interesting)
ghosts
the nancy drew computer games
monopoly
i still play a lot of my snes games; my go-to time killer and head-clearer honestly is kirby’s avalanche. i also play a lot of super mario rpg legend of the seven stars, super mario world, kirby’s dreamland 3, and donkey kong 2 and 3
final fantasy x in which i’m guaranteed to call almost (i can’t stress that enough) every character at some point “my child”
hyrule warriors, i know it’s not a tRuE zelda game but it’s fucking fun
same with fire emblem warriors
red dead redemption
kingdom hearts
the uncharted series
splatoon but i don’t have it wahhhhh
mind you i am not very Good at videogames, i just like to play them anyway
game grumps
ninja sex party
jacksepticeye
markiplier
monty python
crocheting
tea
harry potter
classic rock. pretty big on queen lately. i like tom petty and the heartbreakers. i like joan jett and the blackhearts.
i just... like rock. across the board. i like the offspring. i like some rage against the machine songs. acdc on the radio makes me happy. def leppard on the radio makes me happy. beartooth, starset, powerman 5000, as long as it’s got a good beat and good stuff going on behind the vocals then i’m gonna be happy. i’m way more into the guitars and the bass and everything going on instrumentally than i am vocally, honestly. the whole big guitar solo to van halen’s “you really got me” and then that bassline that comes in, that bassline is sexy. it’s so simple but i LIKE it.
anyway music as a whole gets me right in the heart and can lift me up when i am at my literal worst point
it’s hard for me to name a favorite or specific bands that i like because there’s so many and i’m not really picky about it.
pop vinyls
good ol’ vines
buffalo wings
mac and cheese
grilled cheese
dr. pepper
i drink a l o t of dr. pepper
pretending i know how to do makeup well
history; i watch a lot of expedition unknown and mysteries at the museum, and sometimes i’ll watch a free documentary on youtube if it catches my attention. last weekend i explained the donner party to my boyfriend. just.. on a whim. because i’d just watched a thing on it and he said he didn’t really know what it was. i’m that person.
OH I SHOULD HAVE MENTIONED THIS BACK AROUND TRUE CRIME BUT I READ A BOOK ABOUT H.H. HOLMES AND HIS MURDER CASTLE AND THE CHICAGO WORLD’S FAIR. it was by erik larson, i believe. larsen? i could google this. devil in the white city. there’s been talks to make it a movie. it’s a good read though i will admit i skipped a lot of the fair parts because i was there for the murder.
i also read a book about the lusitania by the same author and i was like ohhh my goooood what. it got a little boring sometimes, i had to push myself to keep going, but i would read dead wake again.
csi: miami reruns are the greatest thing don’t @ me
dark purple and black aesthetics
just like... witchy aesthetics. those colors and black cats
if you haven’t noticed by any selfies i’ve posted, i do have my lip pierced and i love finding new lip jewelry. i have a new opal stud in and i love its look
leather jackets
combat boots; i have a galaxy print pair and a pair with classic marvel comics stuff printed on the inside and you can fold down the sides to show it. they’re my faves.
owls
drunk history
the first 5 seasons of supernatural and i still have a soft spot for the winchesters and castiel
i’m slowly making my way through watching the librarians
i’m also making my way slowly through watching the magicians
(american) football
nature walks
going to the zoo
going to the aquarium
like really take me to either of the above and i will lose my shit
road trips
savannah, georgia
the smokey mountains
last august i drove by myself from ohio to boone, north carolina for a friend’s wedding and that wedding was smack on a mountain top and it was the coolest thing i think i’ve ever done
roller coasters BUT NOT EXTREME ONES baby steps ok
log rides tho, i don’t know why, i always love the water rides
ren faires!
cosplay, even though i’m not exactly active in it myself (but i want to be; one of my offline friends is an actually-getting-kind-of-internet-famous mei from overwatch cosplayer)
cards against humanity
foosball
pool but i suck at it
speaking of pools i love swimming ... but i suck at it, i just like boppin’ along in a pool
cookouts
summer
there is nothing like being out in the middle of nowhere in summer when the evening starts to fall and the sky is dark, dark blue and there’s a sea of shimmering lightning bugs out over a field. it’s beautiful. it’s peaceful.
there’s nothing like sitting outside on a calm spring night and listening to the spring peepers (they’re frogs) either.
if you couldn’t tell, i live in the middle of nowhere. i have to find enjoyment in the little things.
campfires
dancing around said campfire, you cannot have a campfire without good music. this is when a lot of my classic rock education came to pass.
elephants
my favorite books are the abhorsen trilogy by garth nix, tied with the serpent’s shadow by mercedes lackey
i am trying to get into comic books by way of the youtube channel comicstorian. they break comic books down for you and read them aloud with the images, altered slightly to avoid copyright strikes (and that’s all made very clear, it’s not done sketchily), and it’s been really easy for someone like me who doesn’t just have a comics store close (and i would otherwise continue on as i have been, forgetting to ever look for them on the internet). i listened to injustice 1 and 2, and they covered the game. i’m actively following scooby apocalypse, and there was some teen titans stuff i went all the way through up until now. i don’t think it’s finished yet from what i remember.
i love museums
candles
i actually kind of collect tea sets
i also have a collection of sand art bottles AND IF I’M EVER AT A FESTIVAL OR A FAIR WHERE THERE IS A SAND ART STAND YOU CAN BET I AM GOING TO MAKE ONE
yugioh duels; i’m definitely just a novice and it’s just a fun pastime my friends got me into when they found their giant binders of cards again
i’m not actually that big on pokemon, i don’t know a lot of them but it’s still fun and i know some. but i did love pokemon go when my friends still played it (don’t really have time anymore, and it kept crashing way too badly on one of their phones anymore anytime they tried to join a raid and it just wasn’t fun as a group then)
i don’t have any but i like the ~look of crystals and would like to have some, not for my own aesthetic but i just... like having pretty things!
listening to the rain
how the air smells (at least where i live) after a long rain and everything is just cleansed
depression has stopped me from writing for a long time but, in my heart, writing has always been something that has touched me ever since i knew how to do it and could put my stories down on paper instead of having to just talk about them... so i’m going to include that here
root beer floats
hotdogs
hard dip ice cream (if you don’t know what hard dip means... as my boyfriend didn’t... it means ice cream that you have to use a scoop with, not soft serve)
soft serve’s good too tho don’t get me wrong
strawberry milkshakes
this isn’t even stuff that anyone would need to know on this site to befriend me at this point, nobody’s gonna message me like HEY I READ YOU LIKE STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKES ME FUCKING TOO
you’re cool if you do that lmao
so bad they’re good creature features from the 50s and 60s
the old godzilla movies
i like the moon more than the stars, but i like them too
flower crowns
bouncy balls
original skittles
this has gone on way too long, nobody is reading this, your mom’s a hoe, goodnight
no she’s not, i’m sorry, if you got this far then i hope your mom is a nice person
#about me#THERE'S A LONGASS LIST OF THINGS I LIKE IN HERE SO IF YOU WANT TO BE MY FRIEND THEN THERE'S A PLACE TO START#OK THEN

Um so yeah.
I got a new chromebook which is legit one of the best investments I’ve made in quite a while. One problem, I don’t remember my newer tumblr password and email I had set up for my happy new account. So I am stuck here with an older tumblr I made years upon years ago. I was browsing through some of the archive posts and ugh was I whiny little pain in the butt complaining about such stupid things. Anyways! I thought it might be kinda fun perhaps to do a survey that I did in 2013, yes 2013 oh my that seems ages ago. My plan is to have my original answer on top followed by the 2019 answer below it. Because why not? Here we go!
1: Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed? The closet must be closed! Still closed please.
2: Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotel? Sometimes. Not as often as I used, because I honestly don’t ever use it. lol
3: Do you sleep with your sheets tucked in or out? Out? In because that’s how Dan likes it.
4: Have you ever stolen a street sign before? No. Nope.
5: Do you like to use post-it notes? Sometimes. Sure, I leave Dan random notes in the morning if I wake up first.
6: Do you cut out coupons but then never use them? I get coupons but sometimes I don't use them. Haha my above answer tells me two things I wasn’t worried about money in 2013 and I didn’t probably understand the question. So yeah, sometimes that will happen when they expire before I get the chance to use them.
7: Would you rather be attacked by a big bear or a swarm of a bees? Neither sound great so I guess a big bear sounds more interesting. I’ll agree with my 2013 answer.
8: Do you have freckles? I have some. Last I checked I am the same girl, so I have some.
9: Do you always smile for pictures? Usually. Sure, unless I am being told otherwise.
10: What is your biggest pet peeve? I have two major ones, people snapping gum and not messaging someone back. Snapping gum is still up there and people slurping soup obnoxiously.
11: Do you ever count your steps when you walk? Not really. Um not physically, but my phone does. Thanks Google Fit!
12: Have you ever peed in the woods? Nope. Still no.
13: What about pooped in the woods? Again nope. Still no lol.
14: Do you ever dance even if there’s no music playing? Yeah. Of course!
15: Do you chew your pens and pencils? Not usually, but sometimes I'll chew on a pen. Still sometimes I will chew a pen.
16: How many people have you slept with this week? Zero. One.
17: What size is your bed? Queen. Queen, but now I share it with Dan.
18: What is your Song of the week? Runaway- iio. Goodness I have no idea.
19: Is it okay for guys to wear pink? Yeah. Since when are certain colors unacceptable for certain people? I like that answer. Good job 2013 Christina. :)
20: Do you still watch cartoons? I don’t really watch a lot of TV. Nope.
21: Whats your least favorite movie? I am not really big on the Hunger Games. Still accurate or scary movies would be an accurate answer.
22: Where would you bury hidden treasure if you had some? Wait…why would I want to bury hidden treasure. Dan’s safe?
23: If you’re a girl, bra size? If you’re a guy, pants size? 34 B 32-34 B depends on the bra. lol
24: What do you dip a chicken nugget in? Plain or honey mustard. I like those previous answers, but I do sometimes like BBQ.
25: What is your favorite food? Some type of chicken with a bread coating. Chicken and dumplings from Cracker Barrel with carrots and green beans!
26: What movies could you watch over and over and still love? Love and Other Drugs, Crazy Stupid Love, Easy A, Something Borrowed. So chick flicks I guess. Crazy Stupid Love is still in my top favorite movies ever.
27: Last person you kissed/kissed you? Jeffrey. Eww I am sorry 2013 Christina that sucks. Anyways, Dan!
28: Were you ever a boy/girl scout? I was girl scout back in the day. Still a true statement.
29: Would you ever strip or pose nude in a magazine? Eh I don't know. I am no model, so no. 30: When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper? On paper? A while ago. I write Dan little notes in the mornings sometimes. Does that count? 31: Can you change the oil on a car? Nope. Still nope. 32: Ever gotten a speeding ticket? Surprisingly no. Warning, yes. lol 33: Ever ran out of gas? Close, but no. Nope!
34: Favorite kind of sandwich? Turkey and swiss with spinach toasted. Grilled cheese!
35: Best thing to eat for breakfast? French Toast or Waffles. French Toast sounds lovely.
36: What is your usual bedtime? Unpredictable. Still accurate, but now it depends on if Dan is around or not. 37: Are you lazy? More than some would think. I can be. 38: When you were a kid, what did you dress up as for Halloween? I don’t even know. Probably a princess. 39: What is your Chinese astrological sign? I believe I am a sheep. Correct. 40: Are you horny? No. Not really. 41: Do you have any magazine subscriptions? No. Yep, Cosmo. The Eleventh Hour
Finally onto Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor. It only took 5 years.
I vaguely remember when Matt premiered... wait, let me see when it was actually first aired... April 3rd 2010. I was in 8th grade. I remember a girl I knew saying that the new Doctor looked like a guy in our class. I did not agree. Aaannnddd that’s all I remember about the first time this episode aired. I think I was in the room when my mom watched it, but I did not pay attention. Or maybe I did. We’ll see if I get deja vu.
Aww he’s hanging from the TARDIS. Like in The Day of the Doctor. Awwww. Ok. I’m excited for Matt’s run if only for 2013. Once again, Amazon freezes within the first minute. Is this some glitch? It always happens to me. And if I skip a few seconds it’s fine. Every time. New opening sequence. Cue a billion fans raging. So is this Amy’s theme? Or is it just the sad song theme of this season? “Please, please send someone to fix it. Or a policeman.” The Doctor is both. Ok. Now it seems that it’s my internet that’s making everything freeze. Ugh.
I paused for like 10 minutes to let it load. Looked up some crochet patterns. Settled on a pattern. Pressed play. And got to watch 1 minute before it froze again. Ughhhhhhhh.
I give up for now. I’ll try again tomorrow
OK IT’S TOMORROW
Matt honestly looks 5 years old. Me with apples. I watched that entire food sequence with the biggest smile on my face. I forgot how adorable that scene is. “I’ll keep it for later” Ok literally, I was like “OH MY GOD. It turns into an I O U later on!!!... Wait no that’s Sherlock.” and then I laughed at myself. It’s my fault for watching Sherlock around the same time I first watched Doctor Who. Also, that’s foreshadowing since I’m 99% sure it does come back I just can’t remember how. Wait. No. I just remembered it comes back later in this episode. That’s not as fun. “Everything’s going to be fine.” Well at least the Doctor’s honest when he’s lying. For a second I was like “Isn’t this episode called the Girl Who Waited?” but then I paused to check the name and before even checking I was like “No Hope you idiot it’s the Eleventh Hour.” OOOohhhhh showing the clock. Misleading us. I see you. Wacking him in the head with a cricket bat was the right call, Amy. And acting like she has backup coming. Wow. Good job. I’m impressed. Oh Rory. “Why does nobody ever listen to me?” I forgot it was in sticky stuff... “I don’t know. Getting dressed.” He’s right though, it’s changing. Yep the teeth freaked me out the first time. “What?” “Come on.” “What?” “COME ON.” “WHAT!?” Oooohhhhh... I forgot that the human residence was the entire Earth... ok. That little confused spin was adorable. “I’m the Doctor, I’m worse than everybody’s aunt.” Now that’s a quote. My baby Sir Percival! Oh, I need to finish Merlin. But I don’t want to. Also, I love Sir Percival so much. Seeing Tom Hopper makes me happy. This little town may not have much but it’s adorable. “Then I grew up.” “Oh, you never want to do that.” Oh that’s for sure.
This is such a good shot. The Doctor analyzing everything he’s seeing. Must have taken FOREVER. Also, Rory was born in 1990. Did not notice that before. But mathematically, it makes sense. Yep, there’s the apple. See, what I had hoped would happen would be it coming back through the crack in a future episode, but then I remembered that all it does is come back as proof of time travel. Oh that poor lady on the scooter though. “Not him, the good looking one.” “Thanks.” “Jeff.” “Ooooh thanks.” Awww. I love Rory though. “Oh, and delete your internet history.” A lesson that Twelve would forget about. Driving a firetruck through a hospital... literally the most chaotic thing the Doctor has ever done. “The universe will crack. The Pandorica will open. Silence will fall.” Starting the ongoing arch now. “Who da man? .... Oh I’m never saying that again. Fine.” Awww. I FORGOT ABOUT THE AMY THING. Prisoner Zero’s smart though to save Amy’s form for a rainy day. OOOOOH THE FORM WAS THE DOCTOR. OOOH. EVEN SMARTER. OOOOHHHHH I FORGOT ABOUT THAT. “Is that what I look like?” “You don’t know?” “Busy day.” OH BOTH OF THEIR FORMS. OK. Wait, Amy’s updo is way too intricate to have been done in like a minute. It looks like it needs a lot of pins. “Did he just save the world from aliens and then just bring all the aliens back again?!” Oh Rory. Aww the little spin. Does Eleven always spin? Did I never notice this? Nearly forgot that the Doctor literally stole his clothes. Oh I almost wish he had picked that bright red corduroy jacket that Rory’s holding.
I love that scene. Showing all the Doctors. Especially my baby Nine, my heart. “I’m the Doctor. Basically... run.” Love it. He tells his companions to run with him, he tells his enemies to run away.
Oh wow, in the shot of the ship flying away, he was already reaching for the TARDIS key a little early. “Oh you sexy thing” I forgot how much Eleven flirts with his TARDIS. That shot of young Amelia gets reused at least once more, right? “And the swimming pool was in the library.” “Yeah. Not sure where it’s gotten to now. It’ll turn up.” Love it. HE LEARNED TO SNAP OPEN THE TARDIS FROM RIVER. ALREADY FORESHADOWING THAT SHE’LL TURN UP. “So, all of time and space, everything that happened or ever will... where do you wanna start?” I love that line. “Thanks, dear.” I do enjoy how much Eleven loves his TARDIS. Thirteen’s like that too. Also, I’m kind of glad that I can compare him to Thirteen as I watch. If I had actually kept up with this rewatch and gotten to him in like 2014 then I’d not be able to compare him to anyone but maybe Twelve if it was the end of 2014. “Just that. Promise.” Doctor, stop having ulterior motives. “I am definitely a madman with a box.” Aaanddd that’s the line that started it.
As I watched this episode, I was thinking that maybe I had seen the entire episode when it aired... but I couldn’t really remember. Once I got to the end, I knew I definitely had since I remember the wedding dress and being like “...MOM WAS SHE GETTING MARRIED?!?!?!?!” as if my mom would know more than me after watching the same episode I did.
I’m mad at that Coming Soon preview that played. Oh my god. It spoiled EVERYTHING. At first I was thinking I should pause to write “I hate that they showed River’s face in the preview, eagle eyed fans would spot that” BUT THEN IT GOT WORSE. IT SHOWED RIVER SAYING LINES. IT SHOWED THE CYBERMAN HEAD. IT SHOWED THE WEEPING ANGELS. THE DALEKS. BILL NIGHY. Why did they give away EVERYTHING about this season in the preview?!??!?!?!?!?!
Remind me to start telling newer fans to skip the previews either all the time or at the very least at the start of each season. Ugh.
Ok. So. I really loved this episode. It’s great. I’d forgotten a lot. I enjoyed it a lot. I even enjoyed Amy, and she’s my least favorite companion. I’m half doing this to give her a second chance. I can’t really remember exactly what it is about her that my 16-year-old self did not like, maybe how she treated Rory? I don’t know. I’ll either find out because it will still annoy me, or never figure out what I hated because now I’ll love her. We’ll see. I love Rory though.
I remember one of the counselors at my high school said to me “You know. I never thought I’d ever like a male companion more than I loved Mickey. Until Rory came around.” and I was like THOSE ARE MY EXACT FEELINGS. I thought no one could top Mickey in my heart, but Rory is up there.
Also, I realized that since I started Doctor Who during Eleven’s time (2012), I think a lot of Eleven’s sayings stuck with me since that’s what the fandom would reference during that time. Like Madman in a Box. That seems so iconically Doctor to me, but didn’t become a thing until Eleven. Yet I guess because I already knew that line, it’s just stuck with me the entire time I’ve been a fan.
Let’s get back into doing a continuity tracking section in these posts since I haven’t done that since I finished Season 4 (which was 4 almost 5 years ago).
Continuity: Crack in the wall/time/universe The Pandorica will open Silence will fall (X2) “The Girl Who Waited” Sexy TARDIS Swimming pool comes in handy SNAPPING OPEN THE TARDIS FORESHADOWS RIVER Hanging from the TARDIS like Day of the Doctor (bit of a stretch, just let me have this)
And just for fun, since I want to see if it’s actually a thing, let’s count the number of time Eleven spins around: 2
ALSO. Guys. These episodes don’t have as much emotional baggage as Ten’s specials, so I feel like I could just move on to the next episode immediately. I don’t need to give myself time to recover. Yay!

Who the heck am I?
Hello. My name is Emily. I’m a 20-year-old college student from Minnesota.
I grew up in the northern part of Minnesota, and on weekends would go to the camper in Wisconsin in the summer with my grandparents if my parents let me (sometimes I would lie and go and get grounded, but hey I got to play outside all weekend so were my parents actually mad?). The most common question I get asked about Minnesota, henceforth known as MN, is “If you live up north, what do you consider to be up north?” Great question you. To me up north would be the north shore. We have 78? State parks/state waysides total in MN. Up the north shore alone we have 12, which include Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse, Temperance River, and Grand Portage to name a few.
I have an Uncle who lives in a small town up the north shore called Silver Bay. My mom and I would often drive up on weekends or nice afternoons to visit and he’d take us (well mainly me, my uncle doesn’t really understand kids so my mom would tag along to make sure I didn’t get left behind) out to marinas, or down to the falls and he would teach me about like nature and the geology in MN. He really enjoys rocks. Like a lot. His basement he has turned into a small shop-type thing where he cuts, polishes, and preps rocks for sale. He goes out to Colorado and Montana to rock hunt. He got me into geodes. My mom would buy us each one for Christmas and we’d open them together.
I grew up as an only child, which caused many of my friends to believe that I was spoiled. Which contrary to all of them I don’t think I was. I believe that I had been given a fair childhood.
I didn’t grow up with cable, so I always got kind of frustrated when my teachers would assign homework that involved watching something on like the history channel or discovery. I’d have to either call my grandparents and see if I could go there, or go to a friend’s house to see the thing and then get picked back up. Most of the time I’d go to my grandparents’ house. Not only would I get to see whatever I had to watch for school my parents would let me stay over so then I was allowed to watch like the kid channels. My parents gave in around freshmen year and got cable then too.
I moved a lot growing up from an apartment to a house then back to an apartment. Before going off to college I was in an apartment and my room was honestly maybe ¾ the size of my freaking dorm (with one person, me, and my full-size bed, I could make it work). But sharing a room this size with another human bean is difficult. Don’t get me wrong, my roommate isn’t the worst, but her quirks interrupt my lifestyle.
I previously stated that I’m 20, which most people assume means I got to bed well into the morning and are lazy. I mean yes, I’m lazy to an extent. But I prefer to go to bed before midnight, and I’m not the like cleanest person. I’m somewhere between organized and messy organized. I might also be a little bit of a packrat. But I’m working on it.
I used to be the type of person who hates socks, but I honestly wear socks almost 24/7 now (currently I’m not wearing socks, and that’s only because I was working earlier and they needed a breather). I love to wear leggings and will fight because I believe that if they are made from non-see through material they can be worn as bottoms. I also love wearing skinny jeans, I mean I own bootcut jeans but I don’t use them as often. I wear a lot of hoodies, even in the summertime.
My mom, dad, step-dad, and step-mom firmly believe that my favorite color is pink, but it’s a toss-up between grey, maroon, and like army green.
I learned how to crochet on a road trip to Nebraska for a Residence Housing Association conference and I’m slowly figuring out how to do more than just scarves and blankets (I promise I am actually 20, and not 40, even though I act like it).
I decided that I am an activist, but like not one of the ones who go to big rallies. Like I get into discussions with people out and about on topics like gender, the wage gap, human rights, and I guess just mainstream media topics that are discussed throughout Washington [D.C.]. My grandpa thinks that I could be a really good politician because I actually understand what’s going on and how certain things could help the problem and I tend to be headstrong in those opinions.
An example of this would be when the car I was given when I was old enough to drive (it was not brand new, it was the car my mom had gotten when I was 5) started to be more of a money pit than a useable piece of shit, I sat down and seriously talked with my parents about getting a “newer” car. I was shot down a lot. So I asked my grandpa what I should do, and bless his soul, he said that he’d just buy me one. I refused by the way. I asked him how I should really be trying to get my parents to see from my point of view that my car would not get me through both high school and college. So I sat down at both school and home and got to work, I looked at statistics of how long cars lasted, and how my car compared to those. I ended up with a 10-page paper and a 30-minute slideshow to get my parents to see my side. My mom agreed, while my dad did not. So for about a year I look at cars with my mom because I do live in MN and having an unreliable car is like asking to have bad luck during the winter months. My car did end up dying, during my senior year of school. But luckily I had for that weekend a trial on a car because the dealership was not letting me drive my car that had no heat, no traction control, bad alignment, and passenger floorboard that had eroded away? (I honestly have no words on how that happened- I think it had gotten flooded) and my dad was not happy but I bought my first car (I named her Violet). When I went to get my stuff out of Bessie (think the paver from cars that Disney movie when Lightning McQueen has to repave the road he destroyed) and into Violet, I had to turn the car on to take out a cd, and the fucking engine started on fire, the hood flew open, hit the front windshield and then shattered it. Not only was it impressive, it was terrifying. The dealership looked at my dad like he was a moron for making me drive it. Honestly, I understand why my dad didn’t want me to get a new car, but it was frustrating because I was spending money fixing a car that got 16 miles to the gallon.
Okay, that might not have been an activist example but it does prove how dedicated I am to topics. That topic was human safety, my safety.
I went to an elementary school in the town I grew up in, then in 6th grade switched to a different district in a different town (MN has open enrollment so as long as you can get transportation to the school you can attend) which was K-12. So I had a different high school experience than someone who went to a normal high school. I had 35 people in my grade in 6th grade, we graduated with 28. I took a lot of PSEO (post-secondary enrollment option) which meant I took college courses while in high school. My junior year I had a free period for my online course, but half the time I’d work ahead at home and do other homework during that period, or I would help teachers (mainly my science teacher). However, the elementary teachers got wind of my free time and I became a freelance class sitter so they could go get copies or use the bathroom. Which was fun. Until someone decided that they didn’t like me and then it was awkward because they’d convince their classmates to insult me.
But that is some of the information about myself that I thought you all would maybe need to understand me and my ramblings a bit better.
Until next time.
Em.
