I figured I would give y’all an update(my few mutuals that actually see my stuff 😂)

So I went out on the date! It was yesterday and we went to an arcade. We had talked about our ideal first dates before he asked me out so that’s what he chose for us to do. Parking was genuinely a nightmare. I had to park on the other side of the mall from the arcade and I was already nervous so I was warm and slightly clammy😭

Anyways it was a bit awkward at first but idk if that’s because I am introverted and don’t know how to talk to people I don’t know well unless I am drunk or tipsy (yah I know it’s an issue). But we played some games for a bit then we ate. After that I felt like we warmed up to each other there was some awkward pauses when we tried and figure out what to talk about but it definitely got better as time progressed.

(Oh I completely forgot to mention that since that morning my stomach felt like shit and idk if that’s from me drinking with friends the night before or because of what I ate when I went to a different mall in the morning or cause I was nervous) So I barely ate. I felt bad cause he probably was but he order something small too cause I was. He left to the bathroom at one point and my brain instantly though “oh I am for sure going to be stood up now” He didn’t though and I was relieved but also anxious cause I checked my phone and my mother of course had to text me when she didn’t even know I was on a date.😭(My parents are strict af so they didn’t even know I was talking to anyone)

Anyway after we finished eating we went back to playing games. Which I felt like was more relaxed and we finally got more used to each other. It was starting to get late and we both had parties to go to with our separate friend groups so we headed out. (I just realized we didn’t even use the tickets we earned to get anything 😂) since he got lucky he parked super close so he offered to drive me to my car. We got there said bye.

I am not going to lie I was debating this the entire time he drove me to my car. But I was like if reach in for a hug to say bye if it feels natural to do that I will. And idk where I got the guts to be bold but we end up kissing. 🫢 Again I am going to be completely honest that was the first time I ever kissed a guy sober. SoI think I just did it to not look back and regret not doing it. Since a few years back I was talking to this one guy who we never went on an official date I never kissed him sober and I really wish I would have.

Regardless that’s off topic but I went to my car and just sat there for a good minute thinking “DID I JUST DO THAT?!??” Anyways I then started driving to my friends house where we going to get ready for the party. And i get in a car accident… 😀

Idk if this is the universe tell me nah that guy ain’t for you or I am just fucking nuts and it’s just an accident. Regardless I am fine just was shaken up and didn’t end up going to my party and I had my parents pick me up from my friend’s house (since I was way to shaky to drive more than the like two blocks I was from her house.) Anyways though that was how my Saturday went.

this is just my opinion but i think any good media needs obsession behind it. it needs passion, the kind of passion that's no longer "gentle scented candle" and is now "oh shit the house caught on fire". it needs a creator that's biting the floorboards and gnawing the story off their skin. creators are supposed to be wild animals. they are supposed to want to tell a story with the ferocity of eating a good stone fruit while standing over the sink. the same protective, strange instinct as being 7 and making mud potions in pink teacups: you gotta get weird with it.

good media needs unhinged, googling-at-midnight kind of energy. it needs "what kind of seams are invented on this planet" energy and "im just gonna trust the audience to roll with me about this" energy. it needs one person (at least) screaming into the void with so much drive and energy that it forces the story to be real.

sometimes people are baffled when fanfic has some stunning jaw-dropping tattoo-it-on-you lines. and i'm like - well, i don't go here, but that makes sense to me. of fucking course people who have this amount of passion are going to create something good. they moved from a place of genuine love and enjoyment.

so yeah, duh! saturday cartoons have banger lines. random street art is sometimes the most precious heart-wrenching shit you've ever seen. someone singing on tiktok ends up creating your next favorite song. youtubers are giving us 5 hours of carefully researched content. all of this is the impossible equation to latestage capitalism. like, you can't force something to be good. AI cannot make it good. no amount of focus-group testing or market research. what makes a story worth listening to is that someone cares so much about telling it - through dance, art, music, whatever it takes - that they are just a little unhinged about it.

one time my friend told me he stayed up all night researching how many ways there are to peel an orange. he wrote me a poem that made me cry on public transportation. the love came through it like pith, you know? the words all came apart in my hands. it tasted like breakfast.

DIRK: I'd say I'm better at one on one character interaction work of the more intimate variety, but I think this piece came together nicely. JANE: Boy! I don't draw often but I always was fond of calligraphy growing up. I was kind of inspired by all of the other's works, but especially Calliope's swirls she puts in her art. It's very fun to add!
