In Search of Supernatural Fans from the Early Years

Hi! I’m looking for the legends who originally recorded old Supernatural convention panels featuring Jared or Jensen, or possibly Misha. See "What I'm Looking For" below. If you know one of them, or if you're a member of a community with people who were in the fandom in those early years, I’d greatly appreciate it if you could let them know about this post. I can be reached at [email protected] or here on Tumblr.

If you aren’t familiar with my project, see the “Project Background” section below. This is not a low-effort exercise to merely repackage old videos. I’m putting many hours of work into each video to improve their watchability and accessibility. I will always credit my sources unless you wish to remain anonymous.

Even if your videos are on YouTube, I’m likely to have more success upscaling them if I can get the original video files. Thanks to the videos AgtSpooky kindly sent me, I've learned how big of a difference it can make when I have the original files to work with. That's why I’m putting more effort into finding those elusive original video takers.

The problem is that they all seem to have fallen off the face of the earth. Most of their YouTube accounts, LiveJournal accounts, and whatever other accounts I’ve dug up haven’t had any activity in 10-15 years. I’ve left a few messages on some of them, but I doubt they’ll be seen on dormant accounts. I’ve also gone down some crazy and twisted Googling paths trying to find current contact info for them, but without much success. In one case I even messaged the wrong person, who was at least kind enough to reply to the psycho asking for videos to let me know she wasn't the person I'd hoped she was. Oops!

What I’m Looking For

I’ve already finished CHICON 2007, Comic-Con 2008, and CHICON 2008, so I don’t need videos from those events, but I’d be happy to try to upscale your videos for your own collection if you have some you'd like to send me.

Actually, I could use CHICON 2008 Breakfast videos if you have any. I plan to attempt to redo that video either late this year or early next year.

I’ve been trying especially hard to reach people with original video files from either LA 2009 or Asylum 3 (2009), and I’d also be ecstatic to get some from LA 2008.

Any other old con videos you’re willing to share that have Jared or Jensen in them would be awesome. I hope to get to all the old conventions eventually. I haven’t yet defined “old”, so I don’t have a specific cutoff point.

Even if you just have audio files without video, those could be helpful too.

Length doesn't matter. Both long and short videos are welcome. Maybe I won't end up using them all, but the more options I have the better. Even if I don't put your video in my final edit, it would still be used because I always listen to every single video I can find when I'm finalizing my subtitles. Each video sounds at least a little different, and sometimes just hearing the audio in a slightly different way lets me catch a subtitle I'd missed or misheard.

Also, just to be clear, it isn’t necessarily my intent to exclude Misha. I’ve watched and enjoyed many of his convention videos and I liked Castiel for the most part, especially in the earlier seasons. I’m just not obsessed with Misha like I am with Jared and Jensen, and these videos do take quite a lot of work, so I’ve been putting my energy where my greatest interests lie. I’ll absolutely be including him when he’s in panels with Jared and/or Jensen, and in the future I may consider doing some of his solo panels.

So if you have original video files of Misha's solo panels that you’d like to send me, I’d be happy to add them to my stockpile for future possible use. If your videos turn out to be mostly complete, and if they upscale easily, then I might go ahead and do his panel at the same time I do the other panels from the same convention. If they'll take more effort to work with, I’ll probably skip them for now, but I may come back and tackle them if/when I run out of old Jared and Jensen videos to work with.

For any con videos you send me, regardless of whether I use them or not, I’d be happy to try to upscale them and send them back to you for your collection. I can’t always get things to upscale, so I can’t promise success, but I’ll definitely try.

Project Background - Enhanced Edition Con Videos

You can find my videos on my YouTube channel. (If you're already familiar with my project, skip to the next section -- there's nothing new to see here.)

I started this project in December 2023 to enhance old convention videos. My goal is to make them easier on the eyes and more accessible to both new and old fans from around the world. The videos on YouTube from that time can be difficult both to watch and to understand due to a combination of the older technology used to record them, the difficult recording conditions the fans were working with, and the lack of subtitles that make any sense.

I’m enhancing the videos as follows:

Visual Improvements: I’m upscaling the videos if possible, making color corrections if needed, and adding some slight stabilization to reduce the jitteriness. The end result is far from perfect because there’s only so much that current technology can do, but it's noticeably improved if you compare it to the originals.

Subtitles: I’m adding good, color-coded, English subtitles that can be turned on or off through YouTube’s CC button. The color-coding makes it more clear who's saying what when multiple people are speaking, and YouTube can auto-translate them into other languages to improve the accessibility.

Multiple Sources: If one video has gaps in it, then I'll try to find another that I can edit in to fill those gaps so the end result is as complete as possible. If I have more than one source that captured the same portion of the event, then I'll cut to whichever video I think had the best view of the action. In a few cases I’ve added a split screen with two different videos showing simultaneously so we can see action that's taking place in two separate areas. For example, when Jared and Jensen are on opposite sides of the stage. (There were also the infernal talking head bubbles on my Comic-Con 2008 video which nearly made me throw in the towel, but taught me a lot. 😅)

Extra Content for Context: These older videos don’t take up the full width of a modern video frame, so I’ve taken advantage of the extra space to display some still images with text to add extra context for many of the things they discuss. Some things are a lot funnier, or at least a lot more relevant, when you know exactly what they’re talking about. I clarify Supernatural episode references and pop culture references among other things. Sometimes I’ve also inserted short video clips, usually just a few seconds’ worth, if I thought it would add worthwhile clarity or entertainment to the topic at hand.

Current Project Status

If anyone has been wondering how I’m doing on my current video and what’s next… I’m almost done with the last video from CHICON 2008, which was Jensen’s solo panel. I should be ready to publish it on YouTube this Friday, May 24. I plan to use the same schedule as last time and put the Tumblr post up the following Tuesday when it’s a little more likely to be noticed here.

The next sequential conventions are LA 2009 and Asylum 2009, but I haven’t had much success in my attempts to upscale the available videos. If I were to work with what I have now, I know I could turn out something better than what’s on YouTube today, but the end result wouldn’t be nearly as good as what I might be able to achieve if I can get some original videos to work with. So I think it’s more logical to skip over these conventions for now and give it some time to see if I get any responses, in hope of a better end result.

I do intend to come back to the skipped conventions eventually, even if nobody sends me anything. Once I run out of conventions for which I can upscale the videos, if I still don't have anything better to work with for the ones I skipped, I’ll just do the best I can with what’s available. Even if I can't upscale, I can still do color corrections and stabilization, plus the subtitles and extra content. Some of these panels are split up into a bunch of very short videos, so it would also add value if I can combine them into something more sequential and cohesive. (I found 130 videos from the Jared and/or Jensen panels at LA 2009, and most of them were under 2 minutes long. 🤣) I don’t know if there’s enough footage to cover the entire panels seamlessly, but I’m itching to get my hands on that jigsaw puzzle of videos to try to make sense out of them.

So… the next videos I intend to work on will be from Vancouver 2009. This is one of the conventions that AgtSpooky attended and sent me videos for and they upscaled very well. Her breakfast video had already found its way onto YouTube, but wasn't properly credited. Her main panel videos aren't on YouTube as far as I could find, so that version may be new to newer fans. I'm only just starting to play around with upscaling the other sources out there, but my first attempt at the other main Breakfast source came out well. Both breakfast videos were taken from extreme opposite angles, so that should provide some useful editing opportunities. I’d still love to get more videos of this event if anyone has them.

OMG HI! I love this question!! Director's cut makes it sound so fancy and I love that. 🤭

Okay, so I actually have SO MANY before/after gifs saved because I use this before/after mask layer a lot as a bit of a mind trick on myself. Sometimes you spend so long trying to edit something, changing this around, tweaking that, undoing, redoing, etc… that you lose focus on what it looked like at the start. So if I’m ever frustrated with how something is looking, I’ll often do this to get out of my head about it.

This scene from Carlos' loft in s1 is a great example of one of those:

Another reason I use this a lot is because it’s a really good way of double checking that I’m not washing out the POC that I’m editing. When you have to dramatically brighten a scene (like we often have to do with our beloved 911LS), it can really lighten the skin tones of the people in the scene. I work hard to try to avoid that and sometimes just looking at the edited gif won't tell me if I've been successful, so I'll use a before/after mask.

This is a Paul gif that's an example of using it for that:

That is something I wish I knew how to do early on in my gifmaking because there are some of my older gifs that truly do not do the POC on this show justice. I'm hoping to re-do some of those in my Guardian's Gifset Glowups series I just started. I mean, look at the comparison of the first time I edited this Carlos scene to NOW:

I was very very early in my learning process when I made that first one, but still... that old editing of mine is just not acceptable imo.

For scenes that were particularly tough... I think one that people might not expect to be that difficult but drove MY CHEESE TO SLIDE OFF THE CRACKER, was the soulmate scene. I think I haven't made as many gifs as my love of this scene should've warranted but it's just so tricky to edit. The few that I have made you can even see how differently they look from each other cause I haven't nailed it down yet:

And finally! Before/after that I'm particularly proud of... I mean, the proposal scene... I think they lit that scene with a single birthday candle in the corner and a child's flashlight behind their fake windows. So all the before/after edits are so satisfying:

[Spoilers] Methods to check Gale's true attitude towards godhood to prevent his “Sneaky God” ending (with a full list of dialogue options that determines his human/god ending)

Several people mentioned that they are playing on console and therefore can't check his flag status in my last post about using console commands to avoid his sneaky god ending(it is where you reject his proposal of ascending together in the boat scene, although he acted convinced but will then leave you and ascend to godhood alone), after searching through dialogue files, I found that it's actually possible for all players to check which ending he'll get after you have done his act 3 scenes(book scene, meeting Elminster, meeting Mystra, boat ride scene), but that involves killing him, which is not optimal :((...

So here's how you do it: first, send him to camp, enter turn-based mode, use your party members to kill him in one turn, switch back to your avatar and cast "Speak with Dead" on him, and ask him: "What were you trying to achieve?", if his answer is "Seeking... Karsus' power... failed..." then he's going to ascend at the end of the game, if it's any other answer, he'll remain human. Now revive him or load a save before this event!

You'll need to redo his Act 3 scenes if you got the Karsus answer, and if you want to know which dialogue options you need to choose to ensure he's convinced, I gathered a list of options you need to pick or avoid under the cut. If you really don’t want to kill him, you could load a save right after his act 3 scenes and view dialogue history to count options you chose with each flag and figure out which ending you’ll get.

If you are playing on PC, you have progressed too far in the game and don't want to redo the entire Act 3 when you find out about this, or you just want to see other endings of him with your character without replaying the game, here are some console commands for you to alter his ending using Norbyte's BG3 Script Extender’s console([X]this is an old version with a config file that enables the console, it will automatically update once you start the game, or you need to manually edit the JSON file if you download the latest version from the first link). These codes should still work during the scene when you defeat the Netherbrain before his part starts.

If you wish to do this on other characters, change their flags etc., this list of all the uuids of items, character tags and flags in the game could be useful, and you could look into datamined dialogue files from this post by @roksik-dnd to find which flag you need to look to get things done.

You'll need to choose more options with "PushAwayFromCrown" than "PushTowardsCrown" for his human ending to work, for his god ending, you should choose equal or more amount of "PushTowardsCrown" than "PushAwayFromCrown". You do not need to choose every possible option or ask him to seek Mystra's forgiveness to get his human ending. u/airydandelion explained this mechanism in detail in their reddit post, you should check it out if you want to understand how this works!

Nobody at all follows me for gravity falls content (sorry old followers I switched fandoms teehee. My sister dragged me into gravity falls) but I am tormented by 1000 different billford fic ideas, but unsure which of the many to focus my attention on. I've drafted chapter 1's of multiple and plotted out 2 via chapters....I see other people talking about their own fanfic concepts so I'm wondering if I too should bounce my ideas off randos (ya'll).

I have 4 main fics my attention is trying to split my attention between. Help direct my adhd

• fic 1 multiple already written chapters but I have yet to actually plan it out and thus I do not know where its heading. Parrellel dimension ford visits Ford seeking out his Bill for info to use on his own Bill for revenge and Ford all for revenge on Bill tries to look into the theraprism for him. Unfortunately his hubris is his undoing and this is not a better world situation, he is being manipulated once again but this time by himself and once his evils are revealed he has to work with Bill to stop him. I call this one Evil Ford fic.

• This one also has multiple chapters drafted but I do know where Im going with it because I've drafted an outline. This one is one of those human Bill fics, but with a twist. I'll be sort of vagueish but gravity falls cast knows Bill is human, but he also has amnesia and a fake backstory implanted in his brain, and they all decide to manipulate him, Ford especially who believes this is karmic. Unfortunately the rest of the cast start seeing this new Bill as a new person to his horror and liking the new persona, and some of them feel pity for the fact that something is going on in his brain that is very wrong and this is essentially some form of lobotomy to him. And yet despite the pity, Ford plays him all the same. This is the amnesia human one.

• This one is not outlined at all, but I do have the first chapter as a draft. Its handyman Bill concept-ish except instead of being powerless and sent to the shack, hes sent to Gideon to undo the damage he caused there and because they had anvold deal that Gideon never officially paid. Bill gives Gideon terrible advice about going after his Pine twin and Gideon learns to not be him from his bad example and the two bond over their shared prison experiences. This one is handyman Gideon.

• Last one I have outlined and I had chapter 1 but I've decided to completely scrap it and rework it. Its time travel, where each zodiac time travels to episode 1 of the series and has to redo that summer. However most of them do not communicate with the other members that they too have time traveled and Dipper and Mabel are fighting against the butterfly effect and trying to do every action the same so they can survive the summer and beat weirdmeggedon again and keep their current lives, while Stan is doing changes to try to get his brother back sooner. Basically follows the formula of every single character preparing insanely for weirdmeggedon while Bill on the other hand has completely given up on that from prison and is now working with Ford in the multiverse to try to figure out who is controlling time and did this to them. It would go in a formula currently of 1. Normal chapter 2. Billford and switching off between the two I think. And this is the one my brain has currently latched onto.

I also have a one shot I need to edit to break into the fandom...

Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions which to focus on even though my brain might make me focus on one that is not voted for?

Let's Just Rip Off This Band-Aid (Kliff Doll Repaint)

I still haven't finished adding the fringe to his scarf, but at this point, I don't think y'all will actually care that much. It's a personal project anyway, so I'll just finish it on my own time. Right now, I want to be released from the shackles of this project.

Once again, my poor camera and lack of editing do him no favors (he's got a real bad case of jaundice in that first pic. I PROMISE he's not that yellow-orange IRL ;o;), but he is (mostly) done.

Well, he was (mostly) done like a week ago, but just yesterday I decided to redo a few things to try and "fix" what was really bothering me about him, so I really made recursive progress. That said, I do like him more now than I did a week ago, so I'm not mad about it.

A little backstory: Alongside Kun3h0, I've been working on him for the past month, so I've been pretty occupied with this project for a while. Now, I do wonder to myself why exactly I thought making this would be a good idea. All I can really say is that my impulsive tendencies drive me to do things against my better judgement.

But, I will still give y'all my documentation and thoughts on the process + more pictures.

(I'll talk a little more about it later, but for those of you that aren't going to go through the long-ass readmore, the Neon J. mask is a reference to an old comic I drew.)

So, the "real" answer to "why" I made this is really as simple as "because I could." As I said in the Kun3h0 post, I've been wanting to repaint dolls for a long time, years even, so in the back of my mind, I'm always thinking of ways I could finally start one.

Well, recently I just finally put together the ideas and motivation I needed to start. And of course, that was with Kliff.

I don't remember *exactly* how I stumbled across everything, but I do recall looking at doll clothes online and stumbling across this trench coat (pictured with the other clothes for this project).

(I took this pic mostly because I thought I was going to take pics of every major step of the process, but that didn't end up happening).

I thought it was pretty darn close to Kliff's coat, and I got the horrible idea that, "I could def make a Kliff doll to go with this coat as long as I can repaint it."

I feel like usually people would think the other way around, but that is basically the truth of this project: I didn't find clothes to fit the doll, I made the doll to fit into the clothes. Because for me, customizing the doll wasn't really the intimidating part: it's making the clothes. I don't know how to use a sewing machine, and currently lack the patience to learn (and due to some personal trauma that I don't really want to get into), but I can hand-sew, so starting any project that involves it requires me to be willing to set aside a lot of energy for me to do it, which I don't often have.

But, if I could find ways to cut down on the sewing, then I'd be more willing to start. And somehow, I was able to find just about everything I would need for a potential Kliff doll without having to sew anything. In the end, I only sewed together one thing, and it's the one thing that isn't actually finished: the scarf.

So, I blame the trench coat for the entirety of this project: if I'd never seen it, I would have never made a Kliff doll. In fact, I got the clothes before I even had the doll.

Since I was brainstorming this project, one of the most important parts is of course the base doll, which was tricky. Male doll repaints are fairly uncommon, especially of older men, so there weren't a lot of resources or places to get inspiration for this project.

From what I found, most male (fashion) dolls were very youthful, and the ones that weren't usually took heavy modifications to achieve, which was out of the question. Kliff was supposed to be an "easy" project, so on top of not wanting to sew any clothes for him, I also didn't want to have to alter the doll that much to make it look like him. This was a lot to ask for without putting in any personal work, but in a way, this goal was supposed to keep me from actually starting this project: really this whole thing was supposed to just live in my head as a fantasy as most things do, but then I just stumbled into the right set of things, so I couldn't stop myself from going through with it.

The doll I landed on was a BTS Mattel doll. Now I've said before that I know basically nothing about BTS, and that is still true, but that's beside the point. In my research for finding a suitable doll to work with, I found out that a popular base were these BTS dolls. At first, I wasn't into it because I was still running into the "youthful face" problem that I was with other brands: most of them had pillowy lips and nice soft faces, but I did eventually find one that I thought was close enough: J-Hope.

I don't have pics of my doll before I started working on him, but it was pretty close to the stock photo. He has much thinner lips than the others, and a taller, more angular head shape that I thought would work best for Kliff. I did worry a bit that the nose wasn't "strong" enough to really be Kliff (and IMO, it wasn't XP), but it was the closest I found yet, so I decided to bite the bullet and get one, and if I had one, that meant I needed to start gathering everything I would need for this project.

So, no backing out now.

Now, actually acquiring this doll was a whole other song and dance, but here's the part that's important for how the process went:

Due to a miscommunication with the seller I eventually got him from, there was a delay with shipping, so I didn't actually get him until weeks after "officially" starting this project. In the meantime, the clothes and things for Kun3h0 (who I started as an impulse project within the impulse project) had already been gathered.

The original plan was that I was going to work on and subsequently post about Kliff first since he was a comparatively simpler project. All the things I was avoiding for Kliff: sewing clothes and making modifications to the doll, were all going to be incorporated into Kun3h0, so she was theorhetically going to take longer and be posted later, thus telling a small story of "starting simple, ending complex." But since I didn't have his doll, but didn't want to delay working on Kun3h0 just to wait on him, I started on her and repainting his clothes anyway.

So, I don't have any pics of the doll or his clothes from when I was working on them, unlike the sparse ones I had for Kun3h0, I only have pics from after he was finished.

But I'll still tell y'all what I can to at least preserve the story.

For starters, repainting this coat was probably the most time-consuming part of this process.

I really thought that it would take one or two days maximum to turn this coat bright yellow, but I think it actually took over a week. And I really should have known; the coat was a medium tone, and I know that yellow takes a while to build up on anything that isn't light. I lost count at some point, but I swear that thing has over 20 coats of paint on it. Mind you, the first 10 or so coats were watered down with the textile medium, which also contributed to how long it was taking for the coat to take color, but at some point I just got so frustrated that I stopped mixing in the medium and painting directly onto the coat to get the color to layer faster. This is a huge no-no for painting acrylics onto fabric, lest the paint crack from creasing the fabric, but I just couldn't be bothered anymore. I needed this thing to be dandelion yellow NOW or I was gonna lose it.

There were consequences for taking that shortcut, such as the paint cracking in high motion areas and the coat getting stiff, but it's not terrible. In the end, I accepted the trade-offs or else I might still be painting the coat. Perhaps one day I'll reverse engineer the pattern for the coat and make him a new one, but I wouldn't count on it. In retrospect, I wonder if I would have had an easier time if I had thought to bleach the coat first?

As you might notice, I contoured/shaded part of the coat in orange. That's something that I actually *just* added yesterday and added another couple of hours to the work time. It was just bothering me that the doll was essentially a giant slab of yellow, and was part of the reason I didn't like it very much. But I got inspired by this repaint to try contouring the coat to give it more depth.

In the end, I'm pretty happy with the results.

The rest of the clothes weren't as difficult to deal with.

The pants took the paint a lot better, likely due to being dark paint on a light surface. Since I used less paint, it's not as stiff as the coat and still go on very easily. Though, they are VERY high waisted, and I'm not sure if that's normal XP

The shoes are also painted (and slightly modified), though I had to paint them twice because the first time, the paint got stretched off when I tried to put them on the doll's feet: the shoes were just *slightly* too small for the feet of the doll, so they really get stretched to fit his feet, and his heels don't actually go in all the way XP.

He's still capable of standing on his own, but I try not to remove the shoes, so I can avoid having them crack again.

In my "initial clothes" pic, I put down a different shirt than the one he's wearing. The original plan was to repaint the shirt black, but my work space is very limited, so I couldn't really repaint three pieces of clothes at once without significantly risking that I would stain other things. In the end, after getting scarred by how long it was taking for the coat to take color, I decided to just give him one of the black shirts that came with the coat. This does make him somewhat inaccurate since the current shirt has flowers/plants on it, but I'm gonna say that they make up for the lack of flowers on his scarf. Maybe someday I'll make him a new shirt from an old sock or something, but for now, I don't think it's a bad look.

Other clothing of note is the scarf, but since it's not technically finished I didn't take any close pics of it. It's actually made of an old headband of mine that I just cut and painted to look like his scarf.

Originally, I had actually glued on ribbon to it for the stripes, which took a couple days for the drying, but because I couldn't flatten out the scarf to easily glue the ribbon, it turned into a mess and bulked it out too much: since the scale of the doll is already small, I really needed to keep the fabrics thin. This was especially important for the scarf since it was going to wrap around his neck: if it were any thicker, it was going to practically eat up his face, which it still does, just less so.

Speaking of face...

When I finally got the doll in the mail, I started working on him right away, so I don't have any "before" pics of the doll.

After I did the usual "wiping off the face and pulling out his hair," I started with repainting the entire body and head.

Despite Kliff being ambigously "WHITE 🫵," Kliff isn't as pale as the original doll. I'd say even the stock picture I posted above has more warmth than the actual doll did. So, I got the base to be "coral" all over, dusted him in light orange chalk pastels for contouring, and most of his details are outlined in shades of burgandy. I didn't take any nude pics of this doll, but he is countoured all over his body and you can rest easy knowing I gave him some nips XP. But maybe someday I'll show y'all doll!Kliff's washboard abs XP.

TBH, I did want to detail some tattoos and some body hair too, but I just didn't trust myself to do either of those well with the tools I have (my brushes aren't thin enough, and my hand not steady enough for those kind of intricate details). Maybe someday I'll at least get his tattoos in (and after I've actually designed them XP), but we'll see. I don't plan on having the doll in short sleeved clothes very often, so details like that are the least of my concerns.

TBH, I was pretty proud of how the face paint originally went on. I really took my time to make sure it went down flat. It really was beautifully smooth~

But disaster struck.

I had painted the head while it was still separated from the body, and when it finally came time to reunite them, the paint on the head cracked and peeled when I shoved it back on. And, foolish fool that I am, instead of accepting my losses and starting over from a perfectly clean head, I just peeled the lose ends and repainted the exposed parts, which of course made the paint uneven. I somewhat justified this with the idea that most of it would be covered by other details, but in retrospect, I really should have just started over properly.

But, after that ordeal was over with, it was time to actually work on the face.

I can't clearly remember if I worked on Kun3h0 or Kliff's face first. I think I worked on them simultaneously because it took me a LONG time to actually get the courage to work on Kun3h0's face.

I thought I did a decent job on Kun3h0 since I really only had the 1 eye to repaint (the hidden eye is painted, but it's basically just a void with no details), and it was a bigger "canvas", so it was easier to paint. Besides having 2 eyes that I would need to make nearly identical, they were also a lot smaller, so it took a lot longer to paint them in a way that satisfied me (and since it's not easy to "redo" acrylic paint, his eyes lost a lot of smoothness too).

Again, I don't have any "before" pics, so it won't be easy for me to convey my troubles about it, but I do want to say that I think Kliff with a closed mouth is very cursed.

He just looks like he's itching to say something heinous and that is no different for the doll.

It was so difficult for me both match his expression on a face that wasn't *completely* his and still look like him. Although I chose this doll because he most resembled Kliff, he was never gonna be a perfect likeness of him, but despite knowing this, it still bothered me that the face was still just very "young" looking.

Granted, I don't think the original Kliff looks *that* old either (if I didn't know any better, I would assume he was in his 30s, not his 50s, especially compared to other characters around the same age), but still not as *smooth* as the doll is (even with my paint mishaps).

If you can believe it, the face actually used be worse. I don't have pics of it, but like the coat, I actually repainted his face yesterday to again try and fix what was making me dislike it before. I think the problem is that I didn't outline the eyes as much as the final one (like, I don't think I lined his undereye at all), so he was lacking depth. The mouth was also a little more off. Instead of being like "<--->" it was more like "|-|"

So, while it's still not perfect, I do like him more today than I did a week ago.

I think the only things left to talk about are his accessories, starting with his wig:

I'm not actually a big fan of the color. When I started this project, I wanted to try and make him as accurate as possible, and the original Kliff design has a very "cherry jolly rancher" hair color.

However, how I draw him and how he appears in Encore Edition gives his hair a more red-orange tone which isn't as intense. In the end, I opted for accuracy towards his first design since that's the one I was technically most familiar with and wanted to replicate, but in retrospect, I should have realized that I was never gonna be able to seperate my personal quirks from this personal project, so I should have gone with a color that was more accurate to how I interpret him. (I dunno if I would have gone as far as to give him triangular eyes, but one of my biggest takeaways from this project has been that I should have just allowed this to be "my take" on the character instead of trying to be "accurate," meeting in the middle, and satisfying neither condition.)

I don't think I really got across how much I HATED brushing out yarn for the wigs when I posted Kun3h0. It was just such a tedidus process, from brushing it out, to straightening it, to gluing it down. It was such a mess. I'm still finding loose wisps of yarn hair floating around my home since I made them.

Since I had more than had my fill from making Kun3h0's wig, I once again started taking shortcuts when it came to Kliff: I really should have made more wefts for him. I figured since his hair was (compartively) shorter, that I wouldn't need to make as many, but in the end his wig turned out both too thin and too thick.

Since his hair is so messy, I didn't follow any kind of guide for his hair like I did Kun3h0. I basically just glued around the perimeter of the cap, horizontally on the inside, and made sure it would fold over in the front.

Part of the problem is that I made the wefts too thick: instead of just gluing down what could actually touch the surface of the work area, I wound up gluing layers on top of each other, so the wefts would be like a mm thick when they should have been less than half of that. So, I barely got enough coverage for the scalp, and the parts that I did get down are very thick. I think it makes his head look bigger than it should which kinda adds to the uncanniness of him.

I did try to style it as close to canon as possible, but there are some things that just aren't (easily) possible in certain mediums, and Kliff's wild hair is one of them.

In retrospect, I probably should have just sculpted his hair with clay or something: it probably would have been more accurate, but I don't have much confidence in my sculpting ability, and again, I didn't want to modify the doll that much, so I stuck with the yarn.

I might suck it up and try and make him a new wig, I still have a LOT of red yarn left over, so maybe I can make him some new styles too. But the tedium of going through with it makes it very unlikely that I'll follow through~

Since the beard is made from the same yarn, I'll lightly talk about that. There aren't too many resources about bearded dolls, but I've seen people root it, glue it, and even just paint it if they weren't supposed to be thick. In the end I used this repaint for reference (suggestive content warning) and glued it on.

The scarf covers most of it, but I think it turned out okay. I need to add just a *little* more to his left cheek, but otherwise I feel like I was successful.

Next, it's usually hidden due to all the crap that's on his head, but I did give him an earring.

I didn't think about it until way too late in the process, and I tried to poke a hole through his ear so he could actually wear it. However, when I tried to do so, I almost ruined his head paint a second time. Saying, "fuck that," I decided to just glue it on.

If I had been more brave with modifying this doll, I might have just resculpted his ears entirely, because, being based on a real life human being, the doll's ears don't flare out that much, so they're easily covered by other things.

His glasses are just a piece of painted plastic that hold to his face using some plastic cord. They fit well while his wig is off, but putting them on with everything else is a goddamn nightmare.

Since his ears are so small, and his hair is so short, there's nothing for the glasses to "grab" onto without the cord, but the cord is too short to fit around the wig once it's on, but I can't make the cord longer to sit over the wig, because the glasses need to go over the headband, and it's a pain in the ass trying to layer everything like that.

So, I have to put the glasses in place first, TAPE the cord to his scalp so they don't move, put on the wig, then put on the headband. It's really such a hassle, but I don't think I can truly convey the annoyance of having to do it all without showing you. So, unless I absolutely have to, I'm never taking any of those things off him again.

I think the last things are the headband, mask, and tablet.

The headband is just a spare scrunchy that I have. I don't have one in the *exact* same color as the real one, so I went with the closest one I had, which was this teal color.

I didn't feel comfortable repainting one since it's essentially an elastic band, I don't think the paint, even with the textitle medium, would be able to hold up to all the stretching I have to do to even get it on his head.

If I happen to find a white one somewhere in my stash, then I might try dyeing it using water and acrylic paints to see if I can get it green, but for now, I think this works. A little thick, but it works.

The tablet is just a piece of foam painted with paint markers and the mask is a piece of cardboard. I wasn't planning on really recreating any scenes with this doll, but since I remembered that comic, and thought it would be easy enough to make, I went ahead and made it as an in-joke to myself.

Honestly, I think it's the most charming piece of the entire ensemble. Plus, he can wear it without me having undo/redo any of his other head accessories, so it's easy to make him wear it whenever.

My final comments about the doll itself are that he's fucking huge. I should have taken a pic of him next to Kun3h0, but he is too tall to even fit on my display shelf without sitting.

(Please ignore any mess you might see in the reflection. This is just one of the only flat pieces of furniture he can stand on without me standing on something to take a pic.)

Despite my interests, I don't actually collect dolls (I'm more into figures and plushies), so I wasn't expecting him to be so big. In fact, Kun3h0, who would be considered a small to medium doll in collector's spaces, was also bigger than I thought she'd be, so you can imagine my surprise when I got my hands on him.

So... I don't really know where I can put him. He obviously can't live in front of my TV, but beyond being too big for my shelf, he also doesn't fit in with any of my other collectibles. And I'll be honest, the contrast of him "clearly not belonging" among my more "kawaii" items was a motivator in starting this project, I live for the gap moe after all, but in practice he really just sticks out like a sore thumb. (This is also why his first pics are in a slightly different location without many props. I just couldn't put together anything from my collection or find a spot among my things to take a good thematic pic with. The magazines/CDs he's with are from my dad's collection.)

I do have space at higher elevations in my room, but it's kinda off putting to have him staring down my room, looking like he's plotting something (my space is too small to ignore it). So I dunno what I'm gonna do with him. I did have plans to make him some... cuter outfits so he wouldn't stick out as much, but that requires sewing, and I'm kinda worn out from this project.

In conclusion, despite my troubles with this project, I'm not entirely displeased with the results. At the very least, it was an experience, and one that I might even be willing to do a third time 👀...?

But for now, I'd like to rest and maybe go back to drawing again. I feel like I haven't drawn anything "real" for a while now. We're inching closer and closer to the next follower milestone (4 digit number BA-BY!), so I'd like to at least get back to being good enough to sketch some stuff for y'all soon~

Apparently next year is next week so I get to do this again. I tried to mess around with some different stuff this year! Most of my faves were FFXIV but I branched out a bit so I'm pulling out links to other stuff too because I had fun.

January - A BG3 camp comic where I spent so long redoing my Tav's face that I didn't have energy left for Karlach's other hand, but she has flowers now so it's okay. (One day I will get out of Act 1.)

February - I put my FFXIV character in Agnea's dress because OT2 still has half my heart and I had a really fun time shading this one. Also did a doodle to celebrate Golden Sun making it out of the NSO vault.

March - Jayne sent me her viral comic fever dream and I THINK this was my first time trying to draw Thancred's hair

April - After 90 hours my Tarnished learned how to two-hand a weapon.

May - I finally got around to one of my favorite wolship headcanons and messing with screentones. I also did this Rabbit & Steel sprite edit that I still can't believe I finished. I ALSO-also totally helped manifest the Tales of Graces f remaster

June - Finished a whole thing for a ship week so I think I am excused from ever trying to finish something by a deadline again! Except right after that I decided I wanted to finally do the romance cover meme before Dawntrail dropped. I think I was also trying to finish Metroid Prime Remaster but wound up doing a meme of it instead. Sorry Samus

July - Dawntrail dropped and I fell into an unintelligible amount of Triple Triad and it did things to me

August - Thancred's 16 Stacks of Vulnerability

September - A lil feral goldsmith because I wanted to mess around with greyscale

October - This was one of those cases where I spent more time on a doodle than I had spent actually playing the game and that's okay except I did it again after getting the Ace Attorney trilogy on PC

November - Cats! They're just like us!

December - Listen if my 2-year-old nephew is completely invisible in the middle of the living room because he went under a blanket, so is this catgirl.

Redid my reference sheet back in december! I'm still not 100% with their design tbh but im too lazy to do a redesign again! Also i cannot keep their wing size consistent it's horrendous. (Maybe at the end of the year ill redo it again ... a version 3 ... like its a tradition ...)

Edit: I've now turned this into a masterpost for my oc so have a summary of their stories!

Canon:

World setting: Quick explanation of the world bc it's important to understand why I wrote what I wrote. The world is basically the same as ours except with hybrids and magic and stuff (I'll shortly refer to this as just hybrids) and also better in the sense that people are more tolerant. Even though humans still make up the majority of the population, you'll rarely see any specism going on. I don't base the places where everything goes on on a specific country/culture, just how I see the world (though I definitely wouldn't say everything takes place in Belgium). SO to say it shortly, it's a happy world made for me to self-indulge.

Story: Fraos grew up on a farm with their dad. They are pretty well off, not millionaires or anything but they can afford niceties. Fraos is homeschooled by their dad who is pretty good at it. Their dad is a chicken avian like them and his name ... is David (I suck ass at coming up with masc names sorry). Once Fraos is 'graduated' from secondary (I am going to use the Flander's school system fuck you guys with ur highschool and shit) they decide they want to go to college and live on their own during that. They also wanna try and live off their own money, so while their dad provides the money needed to attend college and the first month or two of rent, Fraos gets 2 jobs. A day and a night job. the day job is working at a cat shelter, and the night job is working at a night cafe (idk if this actually exists but in the first itteration of the story it was a bar but that doesnt fit in with my current vision). The only reason they do 2 jobs it purely because they want to, even though 1 would suffice. At college they are studying photography, and then we are in the present day in canon. I hope that's a bit clear.

One thing I didnt mention is that their mom died when they were like 3-4 years old so I thought I'd say that real quick. Their mom was a snow owl avian

I'll write out their story eventually and then post it on ao3 and link to that here :)

Alternate universes:

Okay so Fraos is in 2 alternate universes and 1 au that is kinda not an au but it's complicated, and I'm also going to add summaries to those stories here bc im on a roll anyway

Starting off the the au but not an au bc the other two aus are loosely based on this on. This is the story I have made with a couple of friends over the past like 4 years or so about our minecraft SMPs. We are on our 4th one right now, and I'll only be talking about that one bc Fraos wasnt a thing in the first 3, rather it was a different oc whom I killed off in the 3rd smp. I am however not going to explain the entire story and setting bc then I'd still be writing by tomorrow

Fraos goes through roughly the same stuff as in the original story, but instead of wanting to go to college they wanna go explore the world, so they do. Eventually at some point they get knocked out off the air by some wind and crash into a little camp. This camp is from a group of travelers who are searching for the Farlands, and Fraos decided to join them because it's a great way to explore. Eventually they all give up on their search, especially bc there are some elders who are on the verge off death. (I mean they do die somewhat but that's too long to explain and not important rn). they all settle near eachother, Fraos settling in a small mountain area. Semi important is that they arent used to being around other people so they may or may not spy on people to see how to act. Anyway and bunch of stuff happens and eventually a tech guy named Ximie wages war on the non tech people, which are Elmo Jr. and, well, Fraos. Somehow. I actually dont know bc we never write this shit out and it makes me forget what the consensus is. Anyway uuhmm sort of nuken and nuclear warfare blabla bla they all have to move bc their homes are destroyed fromm the war and they go to a desert (for some reason all of them idk). Fraos is really upset that their home got destroyed and is now trying their best to recover.

Might make a ref sheet later bc the outfits are different here

The next au is my from one to another au (https://archiveofourown.org/series/4077508). Just know that they're a wizard mage whatever and they lived on a ship before they docked long time in the primary location of the story. I made this design in gacha life 2 so here you go:

It's a bit outdated tbh cuz they DEF would not wear a skirt (i dont even know what that outfit is for anymore) but yeah. I cannot draw that hat for shit so this is all you get.

And then the last au, my personal favourite is my I love my wife au (https://archiveofourown.org/series/4419658) which is just pure self-indulgence and me trying to write a romantic relationship shipping mine and my online wife's ocs (we arent actually together btww thought I'd mention that. she does have a girlfriend and everything I write is just fiction, not RPF)

Here the story is exactely the same as the original, except they meet Smiley and everything. If you wanna know more just read it, but know 99% of it was written around or past midnight. I didnt write everything in chronological order and i keep procrastinating on making a list with everything in order sooooo just figure it out tbh

Current-

FNF. I really could give less of a fuck if y’all think it’s “bad” or “for kids (it’s not, I promise you)”. The music slaps, and quite a few mods are really well made, so eat my ass.

Day of Dragons. The dragons are cool. I don’t care about any drama in the community. I’m here for the cool fucking dragons.

The Isle. Once again, I don’t care about any drama in the community. I’m here for the cool ass dinosaurs because you can customize your own skins and they just look and sound cool (Dilo, Herarra, and Ptera are my faves)

Lethal Company. Do it for the Company.

RainWorld. Scugs and Scups. Need I say more?

Hollow Knight. Sorta falling out of this one, but until I beat the entire game (P5) I am not finished.

Minecraft. Technically in “the fandom”, but not really attached to a specific YTer or anything like that anymore. I just like the game.

CCs I still watch:

Astral Spiff. Sprog is a good gamer.

Smii7y and his friends like Grizzy, Droid, Puffer, Blarg, etc.

Jack Manifold. I only watch his You Laugh You Loose and Ghost Sighting Compilation videos. I don’t even know if he still does Minecraft anymore.

8-BitRyan. While he doesn’t swear in his videos, it’s kinda a breath of fresh air. Plus his edits are quite funny.

Markiplier. Yes. Just… yes…

IGP. His content is just interesting. The way he freaks out over shit is funny as hell. Does he do content with IcyCaress anymore? Their banter was funny, but idk if something happened, cuz I just don’t see much stuff with Icy in it anymore.

back on my bullshit: bandura edition

so back in 2022 I found out that the bandura exists (I don’t have any Ukrainian heritage or connection afaik, but I read an article about it in a mega old newsletter and it was a whole story that I’ll tell some other time) and I became obsessed with the idea of making one. It was the second woodworking project I’d ever tried and, while I think I did pretty well considering my lack of tools and lack of experience, it never actually turned into something I was happy with. I mean, compare what a professionally made one looks like:

big difference. Also, beyond the aesthetics, it just wasn’t playable… the lower strings were sometimes okay, but the higher strings never resonated and just sounded dead, when they weren’t just slipping off the bridges in the first place. Also, the string placement wasn’t very good and it was hard to physically reach a lot of the higher strings. That’s why you’ve never heard me post a recording of me playing this thing… it doesn’t really work!

I’ve got some better tools now, specifically a router, so I’m hoping that I can redo the bridges on this bad boy and actually turn it into something functional!

so normally, many banduras are diatonic (like the white keys on a piano with no black keys), but I don’t like that because I want to be able to play any arbitrary video game music song I want on it, not just songs that don’t have chromatic notes in them. So what I tried to do (which didn’t work, to be clear) was to have each individual little bridge be a high bridge or a low bridge so that the strings would be at an angle, with the idea being that the natural notes (“white keys”) would be raised near the top of the instrument and the accidentals (sharps and flats, “black keys”) would be raised near the bottom of the instrument, thereby theoretically making it easier to tell by touch where each note is.

I think that this can still work! But instead of making the bridges out of a million little triangles, I’m going to try to make them solid pieces (two of the bridges on the existing instrument are kind of like that), but differently from how I did it last time. First, I’m going to simply make them taller, so there can be a bigger differentiation between a string’s “up” position and its “down” position. That might help them feel a little less crowded, maybe? Also instead of trying to use a drill press to punch holes in the bridge for the “down” portion, I’m going to try to use a router to carve a groove through it, leaving some posts for support. I’m also thinking that the router will let me make a more consistent point at the top of each of these, so there will hopefully be a good spot for the strings to sit and so they might not slip as much? I’ll still probably need to file little notches in for them to sit in, but one thing at a time, I guess.

I still don’t actually know what I’m doing! This may end up as a monument to my failure! We’ll find out!!

like. what happened after bb1 ?? when did jake get out of prison and did curtis pick him up ? how did he react when elwood got the longer sentence ??? did jake just have to redo his five years plus some extra for being an accessory ?

i kinda like to think that it was curtis that picked him up, that this was during the transitional stage where the orphanage was about to shut down but they didn't exactly know it yet, they just knew the church was deciding. curtis took him back to the orphanage one last time, jake stayed w him and sister mary, they were glad he was out, trying to make it feel like every other time that one brother would be in prison and the other was out, but they knew this time it was different. elwood got the brunt of the punishment. did curtis die first or was it jake ?? did jake leave first, go traveling and then die ??? what was he thinking during it ? did he try to get the band back together like elwood had ?? like, what's going on between bb1 and bb2k, how's jake holding up ? was burton mercer his parole officer again ???

did burton die or did he just lay low during 2k ?? in one of those cop cars going down to louisiana, giving little details to cab and elizondo but never saying who he was, just saying he had been on the previous blues bros case.

and another thing is, did cab ever think about it before he joined the band ? y'know like, if there was a moment late at night or during a drive thru the states where he thought about curtis, thought about his mother, thought about jake and elwood, saw security and news footage of elwood and buster and thought like. hold on, why's the kid complicit in this ??? is this actually a kidnapping or is he in on it aswell ?? like, what if cab did extra research ? he's sitting there late one night reading newspaper excerpts and watching old news reports, researching curtis performing in the 30s n 40s. [assuming it's that bc he joined the orphanage when cab was born so that was 1947] did cab ever see the resemblance he had to curtis ??? realise they had similar traits and that he was more like him that he realised ??

this also kinda ties into my post abt wishing there were followup books and things about 2k like there were with bb1. bb private 2k edition, investigation details on the comeback tour and battle of the bands, interviews, backstories, how buster, mack and cab came to be, how jake and curtis's final years were, how sister mary went up in ranks when she got to the hospital and how her and curtis dealt with the orphanage closing. would it have more details on how curtis felt about cab ? did he regret him ?? did he feel bad, ever want to see him, write letters to his mother when he sent money along as well ??? bwaahhhh im having so many thoughts and i cannot get them all into posts n pages n shid im gonna have to write a oneshot or smth

Santa Wayne comic updates!!! (please give feedback if u see this)

NOTE: i may or may not use killroy, fill, samson, and maple in the comics as they are my friends ocs and not mine and if i wanted to publish these or even make a show about them i kinda dont want to use my friends ocs. feels less original to me. but FOR NOW i will use their names and designs for my ideas until i decide to use or not use them. another thing THESE ARE IDEAS FOR EACH COMIC ISSUE so its like issue 1-6 like the walking dead and its one chapter of a bigger story :P) 1. bob cant figure out what to do for his comic so he and killroy brainstorm a way to get ideas. they come up with an idea to interview people around the Dalton county area to ask about their lives and shit. they interview a couple people and end off with them driving to New Grover City (wip name) to interview old friend now turned skating celeb, Fishy. Fishy and Killroy get into a huge argument and are shoved out the building. when getting home b&k talk about how their gonna use these ideas when they get home and really work on this comic. when they get home however they immediately fall back into old habits and watch tv and order takeout. fishy on the other hand takes a long hard look at himself and realizes that hes become a worse person over these past couple of years - b&k (bob and killroy) comics will use more earthy tones like green brown and grey to show their more down to earth personalities throughout issues 2-5 we see in news stories fishys life slowly decline until he arrives back in town in issue 6 with nothing but the clothes on his back

2. fishy realizes in his persistance to be the best, he pushed everyone he loves out of his way. he also realizes that this bachelor lifestyle is ruining him. his ego is thru the roof. he spends the day trying to do good things but keeps fucking up, until he fucks up big time by saying something very very bad on live tv and it crashes his career, ends on him looping back to his bachelor lifestyle yet now theres no one to support him in a very dark time in his life (house ruined stolen goods but the chicks he has sex with he doesnt know their names therefore he cant identify them to a police report) - fishys stories use blues and whites more to not only symbolize the sparkly blue diamond lifestyle of luxury but also the dark depressing blues of his own fuck ups. the white shows an emptiness in his life, filled by void

3. could be a revisit of the valentines comic i made in feburary earlier this year, summer trying to do a nice valentines day thinf for maple but fucking it all up and having to redo it all sloppily in time for maple to come back home - romantic comedy type story using reds pinks and purples to have nice lovey type colors

4. this revisits the classic "blank gets ran over story" that i love going back to for some reason (originates with an old middle school comic me and my friends made) ((it would also be another b&k story))

5. this would be a very simple, VERY slice of life panels of fill just trying to be a good father for samson - fill and samson comics will use dark blues, oranges, and yellows to show city backgrounds

6. fishy has nowhere else to go, s&m have "plans" and b&k hate him, so he goes to f&s house and they let him in. after about a month, fishy is editing for some skating vlogger and he gets the idea to skate again. he skates and realizes how fun it is to actually skate and not just be a celeb FROM skating culture. killroy shows up and sees him gathering a crowd from skating and challenges him to the dalton county skating tournament. they used to be skating buddies but are now rivals.

... find out next time on CHAPTER 2 OF SANTA WAYNE!!!! (fishy builds his team for dalton tournament as does killroy, which revisits MULTIPLE old iterations of 'Santa Wayne') ((ill explain later sometime)) also i just now realized i keep calling lydia summer LOL i changed her name a bit ago FUCK!!!!

2. Is there a work of the past year you could see yourself revisiting in the future and redoing/changing/reinterpreting?

Hmm, honestly, I try to make it a point not to go and change my old stuff. I mean, if I didn't I feel like I would start endlessly editing my old stuff, especially the early fics, and I don't think that's really fair for me or my readers. At most, I did have some ideas for Galo PoV stuff in The First Day of the Rest Of Your Life but even that I can't imagine being a fully fleshed-out companion fic, more just little snippets to post here and there.

8. Have you gotten any feedback this year that has stuck with you? Is there anyone you would like to say thank you to?

Man, it's so hard to choose one thing. I cherish every comment so much, and I can't possibly thank every single person. Any time someone says that something I wrote made them cry, or made them think, I dunno, that's just beautiful man.

11. What are your creator's new year's resolutions? Do you have any?

Well. To write more, for sure. Maybe write another long fic. I have several ideas I want to actually turn into something, for AA and for ToV (I will go back to the other long fic someday though I SWEAR)

25. Can you share one to five favourites of the works you made last year?

Okay, so longfics are always my pride and joy, and finishing up The First Day of the Rest of Your Life is no exception. God I had so much fun writing it. I put my fucking soul into that one.

I also really loved the fics I wrote for Zines. The siblings one, the writers one, and the as-yet-unpublished PLvsAA one. They're all so good, but most of them are Gen fics so I imagine they won't get a lot of views. Especially that last one. No one else on planet earth loves Jean Greyerl as much as I do and that's a fact.

And lastly, I do truly think some of my best writing ever was in Trust Fall. I am so proud of that one. That's another one not a ton of people will read, since not a ton of you have played Octopath Traveler II, but I really love the writing I did for that one.

Thank you for asking! There were a few reasons:

I will primarily say it's because I wanted to change the path I was on.

ILE was started when I was in an extremely dark place in my life. I was facing health issues, isolation, etc. It informed how much I wrote. I could knock out about 20k words in one night. I got a lot out of the validation-kudos and comments on Ao3. I know and have learned not to expect guaranteed interaction. However, I was fraying at the seams, refreshing and refreshing my email, for the bits of serotonin I could get from responding to comments. Writing took over my life, it affected my work, my mental health, but I had no other outlet.

To that, Indie, Whisperer, Nicky became worse and more tragic characters over time. I actually have several ideas regarding an ending for the story, but I was writing myself into a corner. There seemed to be no way to have a good ending. I wanted a hard reset but felt we were in too deep.

When I took down ILE in March during the middle of the Blitzkrieg, (sorry) I was focused on getting a new job and moving to a new apartment while also balancing that 5+ POV rollercoaster we were on. Not to mention, at that time, I had no beta reader and was solely doing all the writing, editing, and planning for the story. The subplots, arcs, and motifs took up all of my thoughts. It was too much.

The final straw was when I'd done hours of research on tornadoes while also juggling the changing factors in my life. I'd felt guilty for not uploading as fast as usual, but then it was dead silence on the other end when I posted 56. 56 had:

-Lee and her dad in Hell meeting Elena in Hell,

-end of IndievAya battle where she knocks Lee into Indie and says the funniest thing

-Braxon death & Braxon's POV about Indie and Nicky's relationship

-Max's backstory and why he hates Lee/was recruited by Aya

-Aya's kinda... real power reveal

- Mark's boyfriend reveal

-The beginning of IndievLee KFC breakup -> how Martha and Josie got their First Class designation-> how Alisha got kicked out of Indie's battalion

What was also written and never posted: Kay vs. Charlotte and Nate, Elijah vs. Etril, Josie and Lana vs. Max and Kate, and more I won't spoil.

KvC&N was extreme, and I asked myself, "What are we doing, bro?"

A snippet:

Kay is suddenly at Nate's side, whispering in his ear. "You know... sometimes, he asks for you."

Charlotte whips a solid sheet of light toward her but Kay sends an even brighter ball of golden fire, sizzling it away.

Then she's ahead of them, grinning with fangs, tongue sticking out.

"The faces he makes. God, he's so good at making me believe he wants it. I wonder what it means. Is it because he's a slut? Why are you even trying? He belongs to me."

Focus turns to blind and red.

"He's very sensitive. Right here," Kay comments casually, tapping a finger at Charlotte's backside as she cuts across their view, zooming backward for a moment to create distance between them. "He remembers how you taste. Thighs like two ripe pears. Cheeky babe, Charlotte. You're a peach."

Anyways....

I had just received a new job offer, my dream apartment was almost set up, and I was going to see friends I hadn't seen in years. I should have been happy. But I was spiraling. I had to detach, or I wouldn't be able to focus on my real life.

I'm in a better place and want to make a more morally grey Indie. She was too evil, y'all. I also want more rebel presence and more South China Sea conflict. ILE was also hella long and needed to split up. It's become something of a whumpy epic/saga thing, that I'm open to other people writing stuff for. I have an excellent beta reader now, but we both work and might want to outsource a bit especially during Whumptober. I'm definitely comfortable sharing more of ILF, the new version, because of the tone-down we've done. Let me know which parts you guys really like/miss, and I will take feedback. I'm on the fence about keeping "the hunger in their eyes" and the "zugzwang" stories as intense as they were.

"hello, I'm blackpink's lee sangmin!" misaki introduced herself, making the man get up to make a pose, the Japanese girl coping him making them laugh.

"why? why would you choose him?" heechul whined, making her giggle.

"because we are alike! I'm also cool and rich, just like him!" she exclaimed, making the hosts look surprised and 'boo' the guy for lying and making her believe he was cool.

"i don't lie! you just make me seem bad on TV!" he argued, the blackpink members laughing even more.

"ok, ok! i'm blackpink's other main vocalist and only japanese member, misa!" she poked her cheek, everyone cheering right after.

2. guess about me story !

"i went to a vending machine and something surprising happened! i got so scared that i just ran away!" misaki said, her hands holding the paper sheets with her hints and answers. "can you guess what happened?" she looked at them, an smile adorning her lips.

"the machine was so old that lots of water bottles started to come out and you got scared that it was going to overflow!" hodong exclaimed.

"no! the changes started to come out and someone saw it and you got scared that they would thing you were stealing the machine!" soogeun intervened, making everyone laugh.

"no, no! this is a good thing, isn't it?" misa laughed. "it doesn't have anything to do with money! but the backgroung is right!"

"a lady behind you got frustrated with you and just shoved her hand to get your drink." janghoon looked at her. "she went like-" he put his elbow on the table and pretended to have his hand up the vending machine. "and said like 'aish, here you go, slowpoke!' and you got scared by her outburst and ran away!" he proposed, making her along with everyone else crack up.

"no!" she laughed even more. "but it's funny, isn't it?"

"i think i know what happened!" heechul stood up. "you were trying to get a drink and a bug came out!" he said, making everyone agree with choruses of 'yeah's!

"no! but it's close enough!" she said, looking at him.

"then a snake!" sangmin said.

"no! almost!" misa replied, excited.

"a spider then!" hodong tried, seeing her shake her head as a no.

"ha! i know what is was!" janghoon slammed his hand on the table, standing up once again. "it was a frog that came out!"

"bingo!" misaki exclaimed, jumping up and down. "it was actually a bunch of little frogs that jumped out of the machine with my drink. also, when the change came out they jumped out with it too! i got so startled and disgusted that i ran to the car with my mom!" she pouted.

3. her adorable performance moment !

all the girls were in the middle dancing to their newest releases 'how you like that', 'pretty savage' and 'lovesick girls'. as misaki's part came up, the camera focused on her and she adorably winked while dancing, scrunching her face in a smile. while editing, they added cute sounds to it, making it one of the most replayed parts and one of her highlighted moments on the program.

4. making her redo the famous 'cheese kimbap' aegyo !

"please, saki, do it!" jisoo exclaimed, clapping her hands.

"yeah! do it!" heechul also encouraged, making said girl giggle and shake her head.

"it's been haunting me! i can't!" she laughed.

then, rosé started to push her to the middle, making her eyes widen as she got surprised. misaki didn't even have time to react as then she was already the center of attention.

"you have no choice now!" rosé said. "do it!"

misaki sighed and shook her head, a shy smile adorning her lips making her members coo.

"ok, ok!" she fake pouted. "I'll do it."

at her words everyone cheered, the cast members all encouraging her and jokingly saying that it will bring them more views and viewers for the next episodes, making the five girls burst out laughing from their straightforwardness.

"woah! it's really all for the money!" she exclaimed wide-eyed, breathing heavily due to all her laughing.

"nah, out writers wrote it, we just said it." sangmin shrugged, making them giggle once more.

"okay, I'll do it then!"

misaki got in position and made her best bambi eyes, mouth jutting out in a pout, head hanging slightly and shoulders standing up.

"cheese kimbap?" and then chaos broke out.

5. misaki speaking in japanese !

"wait, what did you just say?" heechul stopped the game, looking over at misaki sitting next to hodong.

"sorry! did i speak in japanese again?" she laughed.

her members nodded and started explaining that she tends to speak in her native language when she gets too excited without even realizing it. the hosts got amazed by the information and asked if it ever got her in trouble.

"yes, a lot of times, actually." misa explained. "once, during our trainee time, we were practicing and I got really happy that I memorized the entire choreography quickly. then, i exclaimed something in japanese and our dance teacher thought I was cursing them out and they got mad at me." she said.

"what happened after this?" hodong asked.

"they sent me to the management office and told them what happened, then, they asked them to repeat what i said to a translator — because they thought I would said something that wasn't the actual translation — and the translator affirmed my words. i was really glad that i got off the hook, thought they would kick me out for that!"
