She/her. I’m enhancing old SPN con videos to make them more watchable and accessible. I'm excessively fond of J2, both together and separately. I'm not "tinhat", but I enjoy suspending my disbelief on occasion and I love their friendship.I’d rather see people talk about what they love and not what they hate, and I try to do the same. I’m not very active on social media, but I use Tumblr more than others. Private messages are welcome. The amazing banner photo is not my own. Click here for source.

The OP may have known this already and was just enjoying the amusement of the photo, but if anyone's curious, I think it's a BTS photo of Jared preparing to film the below scene from 1.09 Home. 😂
I'm guessing (but don't know for sure) that the second half of the clip where you can't see his face and then he crashes into a table was his stunt double. They've said that the parts of scenes where they crash into things are done by their stunt doubles. Jared definitely did the earlier parts where he's just sliding though, because you can see his face a little.
Here are a couple related images...
This is the same scene from another angle. Photo found here. (The notes at the link say Jared was rehearsing the scene and they thought that was the stunt coordinator Lou Bollo in the background.)
Jared with his stunt double. Photo found here.
erm what is that…? crawling on the ground? what the hell is that?

New Enhanced Edition - CHICON 2013 - J2 Breakfast
youtube
Direct link to video. Link to YouTube channel. (28 videos available.)
My newest video is up! While we wait for new CHICON content this weekend, step back 12 years in the past to CHICON 2013. 😀
97% of the footage came from the beautiful video that AgtSpooky sent me. This wasn't on YouTube and may look a lot nicer than what you've seen before. (See sample screen shots below.)
A Note About Embedded Videos in the Sidebar
This video has more embedded videos in the sidebar than what I normally like to use. There were several things for which I felt like a static image wasn't sufficient to demonstrate what was being discussed because you really couldn't tell what was going on without the motion. (To be honest, the very first embedded video probably would have worked ok as two static images but I liked the clip too much! I thought the others were necessary, though.)
I don't know how people feel about these when I insert them, but I'm sure they must be annoying to at least some people who aren't interested in the sidebar because movement is more distracting to the eye than static images. That is something I do very much try to keep in mind when choosing whether or not to embed a video, so I just wanted to mention that I don't plan to start going hog wild with them in the future. I hope the larger quantity in this video will remain the exception.
What's Next?
The main J2 CHICON 2013 panel, of course. 😀 The main panel is 65 minutes long, so it will likely take me at least 6 weeks to finish at my typical pace.
As I mentioned in my previous post, AgtSpooky captured nearly the entire panel. That includes 33.5 minutes(!!) of footage that I couldn't find anywhere else. This was the main thing that made me decide to take this brief detour to 2013.
After the main panel, I intend to head back to 2008 to continue working my way through the 2008 cons.
Before/After Comparison Photos
As you can see, I didn't improve much on AgtSpooky's original video. I mainly just lightened it up a tiny bit and added some stabilization. However, compare this to the second set of images below which is the video people have most likely watched.
The below footage was the only full video of this panel I found on YouTube. Even though the quality isn't as good, I'm so grateful for it. AgtSpooky's video cut out for just a few seconds during a humorous portion and I was able to fill that gap with this footage. They also caught a little more from the very beginning and very end of the panel. I used a little over a minute's worth of their footage and thanks to them my final edit is more complete.
A recap for anyone not familiar with this project…
In December 2023, I started a project to enhance old convention videos. The project is mostly focused on Jared and Jensen, but there will occasionally be videos with other actors. I'm upscaling the videos when possible and making other visual improvements, adding extra content to clarify various references, and adding human-generated, color-coded subtitles so you can better understand the sometimes-chaotic audio. The subtitles can be auto-translated to other languages via YouTube.
My goal is to publish the best, most complete, and most watchable versions of these older convention panels yet seen, but this is only possible thanks to the fans who captured the footage in the first place and were generous enough to share it with other fans. My video descriptions on YouTube will always credit my sources.
If you have any old convention videos you'd be willing to contribute to this project, please message me! I can also be reached at [email protected]. If I can get them to upscale (I can't always), I'd happily send the upscaled files back to you for your own collection whether I use them or not.

Agreed! The Internet Archive has been a great resource for my own project. I've found lost photos, blog posts, and even convention video clips on rare occasions. It's also helped me track down original sources to verify authenticity.
It's especially helpful for a fandom like SPN that's been around for two decades. So many things have been lost that newer fans like me never even had the chance to see because accounts were deleted or the sites hosting the content were shut down. Sometimes we get lucky and find some of those lost things on the Wayback Machine. Newer fandoms will be in the same boat before they know it.
I get twitchy whenever I go to a site and I'm faced with "First Name" and "Last Name" fields. According to this page, you don't have to use your real name. You can use an alias if you have privacy concerns. You just need to use a real e-mail address that belongs to you, and you can only use one. Here's a screen shot from that page:
We need to do what we can to protect the Internet Archive. Here is a petition that you can sign.
This petition alone might not be enough, but everything we can throw at this counts.

Thanks for the info about the original post and the screen shots! That made it easier to find the original post. (Sort of. The account on X is gone, so the post is of course gone too, which explains why I didn't find it when I found the other photos in my earlier reblog. But some thoughtful person archived it on the Wayback Machine.)
I'm adding the link here for archiving purposes.

Uhm... WHAT!
If it is photoshopped, i will cry.. 😫

I just came across this pic of Jared from this video
I've never seen this picture of young Jared Padalecki before. It's gotta be from a magazine, right?
If there's a better quality copy out there plz share a link.🙏♥♥♥

Although there are a lot of photoshopped images out there, I don’t think this is one of them. I couldn’t find an original post to be more certain of its authenticity though, so there’s always room for doubt.
I think the left half has just been cropped off and it’s from a photo op at the Dallas convention in January 2022. The clothes match with their other photo op pics, as does the barrier they're leaning up against. That barrier was set up between the actors and the fans because they were still maintaining a no touching” policy due to the pandemic. (With fans anyway; clearly not with each other!) The photo also makes a little more sense when you know there were fans on the other side of the barrier. 🤣 I'd love to see the other half.
In any case, here's an equally enjoyable and more verifiable photo that someone shared on X of their own photo op. You can see the whole setup here with the barrier. I love the fans' idea for this photo op. 😂

I'm very unskilled at detecting the little clues that help other people recognize a photo has been manipulated. For me, I'm more likely to catch them just because I've seen the original photo(s) or because it's from a convention panel or something that I've watched videos for and so I know for certain the thing depicted in the manip didn't happen. That being said, the only thing that looked off to me visually in that cropped photo is the front top of Jensen's head. It looked to me kind of like somebody had accidentally gotten the eraser tool from Paint too close to his head. 🤣 But I think that's just the shape his hair was taking during that photo op. You can kinda/sorta see from the above picture how it might look that way from the profile, and the below profile picture also has the same thing. From this post on X.

Uhm... WHAT!
If it is photoshopped, i will cry.. 😫

Jared's Mysterious Utterance - A movie quote maybe? (Subtitling help request.)
Edit: With thanks to ohheyguyss, it looks like he's saying "[something] just sleep when you can [maybe something]". The first part is up for debate -- I hear "Gotta" (or possibly "Can't you") and they hear "Tsk". And I'm on the fence about whether there's a "then" at the end. So feel free to chime in if you have opinions. 😂
___________________________
Can anyone make heads or tails of what Jared said in the portion I subtitled as "[inaudible]"? I thought maybe it was a movie or TV quote, or some other type of quote, because it sounds to me like he's mimicking a British accent.
For context, this was at CHICON in October 2013. Jared's first son is 19 months old and Jensen's first daughter is 5 months old, so they're still adjusting to the whole fatherhood business.
People in the audience seemed to get it, so hopefully it's a super obvious reference that I just don't recognize?

New Enhanced Edition - LACON 2008 - J2 Main Panel
youtube
Direct link to video. Link to YouTube channel. (27 videos available.)
I have my newest video up, the Main J2 Panel from LACON 2008! 78% of the video and 99% of the audio came from the awesome video recorded and sent to me by Candygramme. The rest of my sources are credited in my video description.
Candygramme's video isn't on YouTube to the best of my knowledge. It has over 51 seconds of footage not found anywhere else plus 8.5 minutes of coverage where her video is the only one with both Jared and Jensen in the frame. (They're both in the frame for most of the rest of the video too. The panel had a lot of fun banter between them. It's not at all the same if you can't see both of them reacting to each other!)
What's Next?
That's my last video from LA 2008. I'll be coming back to 2008 soon, but first I'm going to take a detour to Chicago 2013. Why on earth would I do that? Because AgtSpooky unearthed some videos she recorded there and they're awesome! The main J2 panel has very little footage currently available online. If I did my math correctly, her video has 33.5 minutes(!!) of footage not found anywhere else.
I'm super excited about this and I want to get it out there sooner rather than later. I'm sure a lot of people only ever saw half of this panel either because they're a newer fan like me or because they just never ran across AgtSooky's file share links back when they still worked. There are still a couple gaps, but I think they're very short and only one of them happens before the end of the panel. The second gap is during the banner signing. I have a little under 65 minutes of coverage from the main panel.
I plan to do the breakfast video first, then I'll do the main panel. There was already a full breakfast video out there, but AgtSpooky's wasn't on YouTube and her video is much less blurry so I was really happy about that one too. It won't have any new footage you haven't seen, but it will look nicer.
Once I get through CHICON 2013, my intent is to tackle the April 2008 EyeCon event that Jared attended in Orlando and continue to work through 2008 chronologically from there -- unless I get another unexpected surprise that I think the world needs to see immediately. 😂

j2spntranscripts' video (and audio) finding skills are truly incredible! As mentioned in their reblog above, they recently uncovered some additional audio and video clips from this convention that were way off the beaten path.
Make sure to keep an eye out for the [click here] links in their post. That's the non-YouTube content that you're less likely to have seen (or heard) before.
When I first started watching convention videos, I found next to nothing from this convention. I saw a few videos on YouTube of Jensen singing with Jason, a couple short clips from the panels, and that was it. j2spntranscripts has found more material than I ever would have believed existed.

And I think if I was to- If the show has to end and I just wasn’t- not necessarily, uh, I mean, satisfying for work, but at the same time still want more.. then I think that- that- that’s- you know, means that I still care. And that means that I still really love portraying this guy. And so, I think, uh- I think Blaze of Glory, but, uh, you know, nothing- nothing (?bigger?) than that. But, I think I definitely, um- I mean, if they can have (?a big death?) and wrap it up in a nice bow (?what’s wrong with?) that.

• (4:26 SA)- Asylum07Bb;Qc4 – Acting Challenges; Emotional Scene Prep
Fan: Hi.. When you have to do… Hi. When you have to do like a really- a emotional scene, and, um- or a any other things that you feel (?) moments. Do you feel you have to draw from personal experiences for that or is it sort of like re-construct it or act it?
Jensen: Um.. (lip smack) Eh, um, well, I-I think, it’s something you know, some times. It depends on the scene. You-you know, um, sometimes you got to draw on personal experience and you know it getchu- it kind of gets you in the mood, I guess, that it’s supposed to be. But, uh, There’s (?been within?)- You know, we’ve been given kind of gift, uh, between, um, between characters on this show. I think we, between Jared and I, as far as acting- the fact that we work together so much we came to develop this very close, uh, friendship, uh, off screen as well.
So, um, in- in working with someone who you have, uh, well, you know, who you have that- that friendship with and that bond with, um, it- it doesn’t take a whole while. You don’t have to imagine a whole lot. You can actually just watch somebody that you care about and acting with go through something horrible and it’s gonna- it’s going to affect you, you know, if- if- if you’re in the scene.
So, um, that’s been- that’s been something that I’m very, uh-uh, happy to have. And it’s not something I’m used to having. Um, I haven’t- I haven’t spent a whole lot of time on a show where I’ve developed that kind of- of relationship with an actor. Um, so we’re- we- we seem to have that. But when we’re, you know, we’re working with other actors or we get emotional about something sometimes you gotta- you gotta draw from something, uh- something bad. And, uh, you know there’s- there’s been some- (laughs) there’s been some battles and taken- taken a bit of shaved off, I’ll tell you that.

Fan: (?Change mine?), Jensen.
Jensen: Okay, here we go. (audience laughs) Alright.
Fan: Um, would you ever consider write something or direct somebody because you (?think them deeper?)?
Jensen: Umm- ehhh. You know I.. I’m very happy with- with- with, uh, the way the show goes and the boys. And Eric kind of looks over the writing and- and all that stuff. And to be honest, like I mean, nine months out of the year I don’t take a whole lot of time to- to think much less ponder up ideas of what I’d like to write about and stuff like that.
Um, directing-wise, that’s another problem too, because as an actor I’m, as you know, the characters in every- practically every scene who works every day. And to be able to do that and direct.. would be bit of a daunting task.
Um, but, it’s definitely something I’m interested in. Um, as, uh, you know, that the technical aspect of that been always been something I’ve been in- interested in. You know, I’m very into in, uh.. uh, just learning about the cameras and then, you know, photography and the lenses and the lighting and stuff like that. Especially the past year, I really kind of questioned a lot of the crew on- on what they do and how they do it and why they do it and stuff like that.
So, um, and you know again, when- when you learn more of the technical aspect of- of what you’re doing it’s going to help you, um, regardless. So, uh-uh, yeah! I’m interested in all that stuff (?in camera?). And- and I’d love to dabble in a lot- a lot of it.

And many years- not many years ago- A few years ago I worked with, uh- um, James Cameron, and this is the man who, uh, you know, now a-a very good film director. But had worked in just about every avenue of filmmaking from costuming and props to, you know, PA’s to sound masons doing business. So, he knows so much about everything. And to watch the man work is like watching a mad scientist.
Um, and- but you can’t get away with anything, you know? He’d walk up to the special effect guys and he’s like, (stern voice) “Is that tempered glass? Because you know what happens if that’s not tempered glass.” (audience giggles)
And it’s just like, “How do you know that stuff?” I mean, here’s a guy who’s spreading glass on the floor and, you know, grabbing the blood and doing it himself and it’s just th- this really, um, kind of.. um, kind of.. amazing to (laughs) watch a person who knew so much about it (?by the, you know, look out of his notes?).

Moderator: Would-would you work with Cameron again? He’s got quite a story behind the little reputation that he, you know, goes around on and that sort of (clap)?
Jensen: Ummm, I would. I would. He’s.. he’s very, very tough on the crew. I’d say he’s more tough on the crew than he is with the actors. Um, but he has a way of- of- of getting the perform- getting certain nuances out of the performance that you don’t even know you’re giving. You know, he’d give you some notes and you’d be like, “That makes absolutely no sense. Why would I- Why would I be thinking of about my sister?” (audience laughs) And, you know. Jensen: I’ll give it a shot.

• (0:00 SA)- Asylum07B;Qe – Acting challenges; character role reversal; s2 spoiler*(possibly mislabeled)
*(missing question)
Jensen: -Kind of leaves you twisted. I wasn’t prepared for in season one. Um, you know that- yeah, obviously, you read this- you read the pilot and you read the pilot and get an idea of how you want to play that character and you talk to the writers and creators like, “Okay, this is kind of the arc and the path of this character for-for the next, uh, twenty-one episodes.”
And I really liked it. And, I was like, “Okay, good. I like this guy. I like where he’s going. I like this happening.” Um, and it’s a good balance with his brother here. So, we set off, I mean, for season one. And the next thing I know, um, (smacks lips) Eric sits us down and he’s like, “Alright, this is what we’re thinking for season two. It’s, uh, complete role reversal.” Umm, yeah. “Sam’s gonna be the driving force behind what you do and he’s gonna be one that hesitant.”
And I’m like, “..Woah! Woah!” (audience laughs) It’s like taking the rug out from under me. So, um, but I can remember what I thought about it. And the more I realized, um, you know, that-that this needs to- for this to work it needs to be interesting. And, it was, uh.. It was difficult at first, but then after a while we kind of fell into a grove. And, you know, like I said when you work with somebody so intensely for such a, you know, a long period of time you- you really kind of find niches and find roots. And you can, you know, really kind of dig into something.
And, uh, I think we were able to do that, eh, after the, you know, (?first several?) episodes in the second season. Just kind of find that, uh- find that rhythm. Um, then I’m (?anxious actually?) to see where we go for the third season, because there’s, uh, a bit of a (chuckles) big ‘ole mix up at the end of this second season that-that he (?has a.. scene show I play?). Jensen: -Dean is definitely somebody who (?really emulates?) his father. Uh, and- and obviously, I don’t know if-if you guys saw, or you guys have the “Supernatural Origins,” uh, comics that they’ve done. I think that that’s probably gonna explain a lot of the, uh, of where the boys kind of spew off in the beginning, and how they kind of grew apart, and why Dean chose the way that he went and followed his father.
..So, yeah. It was probably good ‘ole Pops. (audience giggles)

• (0:28 SA)- Asylum07B;Qi2 – Thoughts on Sam and Dean “Mistaken Couple” bit; Wincest
Fan: Hi there.
Jensen: Hi!
Fan: Um, (giggles) You have a few episodes (?that they made up where?) people gets thinking that you and Sam are a bed couple. (audience mixed reactions) How do you feel about that?
Jensen: …Well, I mean, yeah, come on. It’s a big illness. (audience laughs)
Umm.. It’s, y-you know, that’s.. They’re always gonna get those odd.. things and they (?go?) with it. You know, every-everything (?in that comes?) is always- eh-uh- people will always try to read into something that’s-that’s not there or will try to make- You know, make light of something that we’re really trying to hammer home. So, um, I-I..
I mean, first of all they’re brothers for crying out loud. So that's (audience chuckles) one thing. You know, um- And- and secondly that that’s just- that’s n-never the kind of show or connotation that-that we’re giving across. I think that because of some of the fans, uh, (chuckles) some of the more inventive fans, uh, (audience laughs) and- and their “fan-fiction,” uh, Eric is actually.. tried to poke fun at that a little bit. And just be like, “Come on, that’s how ridiculous that is.”
Fan: Amen.
Jensen: Yeah. (Fan: That's right.) Yeah.
So, I- Yeah. I-I do think that Eric (Fan: Yes, Kripke!) is actually.. He’s kind of, yeah, got- gotten in there and riff in a few kind of innuendos just to be like, “See how ridiculous that is?” And Jared and I are like, “Eh-uno, it’s funny.” (audience laughs) You know, we had fun with it. So.

• (1:57 SA)- Asylum07B;Qi3 – Thought’s on “Dean”; don’t likes; eating, hard-headed
Fan: Ah, um, so Dean’s a very (?close-minded?) guy, but, you know, no one’s perfect. So, what’s the thing you don’t like about Dean? Is there some kind of weird habit he has or some characteristic that really.. makes you want to.. scream and, you know, say he’s impossible?
Jensen: I wish he’d stop eating so much. (audience laughs then claps)
That guy eats on every- It’s like every episode. I’m stuffing my face. It’s like- (audience laughs) It’s, you know, sandwiches, taquitos. I’m eating cheese steak sandwich- It’s just, like, ridiculous every time. (audience chuckles) And, you know, I brought it on myself ‘cause I decided to eat in one scene, in the first season. The writers were like, “Hey.. good idea.” (audience laughs)
Um, (lip smack) characteristic-wise, I-I, you know, there’s, eh-eh-eh- I really like the character on everything that- that’s been written on him. Because, you know, he- he’s obviously an extreme version of a lot of ideas that, you know, I’ve-I’ve probably had about myself and about other people that I met. Which is just kind of, uh, you know, a character that’s kind of come to a fruition through my take on it and the writers’ take on it.
So, umm.. (chuckles) He, uh- I’d say he, on personal point of view, I just wish he wasn’t so hard-headed, uh, a lot of the times. But at the same time, I think that if you take that away (?you’d stall in a month?) and just wouldn’t be as effective. (some audience chuckles) Um, so it’s kind of a Catch-22 that.
I wish he’d stop eating. I probably should have just left at that. (audience laughs)
Moderator: Okay, next question.
• (3:34 SA)- Asylum07B;Qi4a – Thoughts on “Jessica Alba”; Work with; Dark Angel
Fan: Hi. (Jensen: Hi.) Um, I got two questions. First of all, uh, what was it like working with, um, Jessica Alba on “Dark Angel”? And secondly, from all the stories we hear about prank, playing, and everything, it seems like you and Jared have an awful lot of time on sets. So, what is it that you do, do when you’re not there? (audience laughs) (?Do you- do you like experience citizen lives?)?
Jensen: You said do-do. (audience laughs, claps, and then cheers) Umm.. What do you mean do,do? (audience chuckles)
Uhh, it- to be-to be honest with you and I- and I’m willing to tell you this because it’s got a happy ending. Uh, it was a bit crappy working with Jessica on Dark Angel. Because she was just not in a good place. She was, uh, I-I feel like she got thrown into the situation at a very young age. And she was expected to do a lot and there was a lot of, uh, responsibility put on such a young girl’s shoulders. And- And to carry the wait of that for- for two years the way she did, it was just very trying, very stressful. And she just didn’t- She just had enough.
And, um- So, when I came in and I was all like, “Hey! Alright, new guy!” (audience chuckles) And, you know, tried tah- tried to buddy up with her. And she was like, “You have no idea how this (?would play?).” (audience chuckles)
And it was- And it was bit trying for.. for us to work together for a while. Uh, it was almost like a brother and sister who didn’t get along. You know it was like we’re constantly bickering and- and, you know, kind of picking at each other. And, um- and that’s just the was throughout the season.
And then about a year after the show got cancelled, she called me out. And she was like, “Hey, can we get together?” And-and-and we did. And she’s like, “I just want to apologize. Uhh, I was- I was really in a bad place. And-and I’m so much happier now.” And I mean she did. She wrapped her arms around me and she was wearing a big smile. And it was just really nice to see her in that light, so. She, uh, you know, that-that was- that was nice. And-and I-I, you know, got big respect for her now.
• (5:33 SA)- Asylum07B;Qi4b – Off time; J2; Vacation-ish

Uhh, (chuckles) (audience chuckles) We don’t- (chuckles) We don’t do a lot. (audience giggles) Uh, there’s-there isn’t a whole lot of off time. I think I had about- collectively over nine months, about six days off. Uhm, so it’s a- it’s a lot of work. And-and, you know, it’s- in-in that time we have off we just- I mean, I personally, I’m just trying to continue relationships with friends that I have that I never get to see. You know, calling my family, check in with them.
And, so, it’s, uh, I’m just trying to stay sane. Um, but, uh, you know, we.. we have our- we have our odd- You know, we’ll go out to dinner. We’ll go out to the bar. Like, you know, practice. Do something to relax and have some sense of normalcy. Um, but other than that it’s just sleep and work for nine months.

Fan: Um, I just- Um, this is quite a quick one for you. Um, basically, ever since I started watching “Supernatural” (?I had-?) I started using, uh, Americanisms. So, like sayings that Dean goes like, um, I say, “Dude,” a lot online. (audience laughs) I frequently use awesome. You know, as you do your (?coffee down under?). Fan: (?Ah, whiffed it.?) (audience laughs)

Fan: Yeah, um, maybe or, um, a film, (?I mean, like, as referring to it?) where you use it a lot in your-
Jensen: Oh, yeah. Uhh.. I-I think that everyone knows (?see if their my guys?) you got- that’s just, you know, the kind of conversation we have. Know all the talking banter t-that you have. And, uh, so, I- But, to go with it. I mean, I could probably recite a few of those movies (?we’re fans of?).
Um, but, uh, (chuckles) I don’t have one in particular that I can- or bring out. But.. I mean, I can, like, “Dude.” (audience laughs)
Moderator: Okay, then. (?Tying everything up?) You see these four hands here in the middle? Um, we’ll probably do those questions in total in the time we have. This right here, these four hands. • (8:47 SA)- Asylum07B;Qi7 – Acting techniques; line memorization; “A Few Good Men”
Fan: Well let’s- Okay, um-
Jensen: You’re up! (audience laughs) Batter’s up.
Fan: Um, every time you get a new script for “Supernatural” or a film or whatever, do you have any tricks for learning your lines? What’s your secret?
Jensen: Um, good question. I- You know, I think a lot of- a lot of people have a lot of different techniques in learning lines. In fact, I- I’m.. I’m slowly realizing that I’m getting very nervous about the play that I’m doing in a few weeks because there’s a lot of lines. Uh, and I’m- I’m used to just trying to memorize about 6-6 to 8 pages a day, uh, for, uh- for what I do with “Supernatural”. (?It’s about how much we shoot.?) Um..
And really it’s just kind of repetitive.. reading. You know, um, Jared and I usually get in the car on our way to work and we’ll- we’ll read it together- read it over a few times. And when we’re sitting in the, you know, hair and make-up chair getting ready, we’ll read over it a few times. And then maybe, (?if he too?) will get into the trailer and kind of read it over a few times, (?which is kind of that today?) (smack).
It is a muscle. I mean, your memory is a muscle, I think. And-and the more you work it, kind of, eh, you know.. th-the better it becomes. (Fan: Thank you.) Um, and if you do it all the time it’s like you- your memorizing, you know, a hun- We’ve done a scene.
Jared- (laughs) Jared and I have actually memorized two page scenes that they’ve thrown at us at the end of the day. And they’re like, “Hey, guys. Listen we got time. We wrapped early today. We want to do this three page monologue you have tomorrow.” It’s like, (audience cackles) “(?I’m not gonna groove with that?).” (audience giggles) Um, but every, you know, somehow pull it off.
So, it’s, uh.. I-I think it’s a- it’s a muscle. The more you do it the better you get at it.
Fan: Okay. Well, thank you.

And, the other thing is, if he has children- you said before (?he has several things?). You think you would (?bet?) on his children some?
Jensen: Uum, well, Jared’s (?about buying a reunionity?) actually. And, uh, so, you know, when you’re growing up with it and you’re already in (?bumpits?) that’s a considerable gap. Uh, and so I probably wouldn’t even know any.
Um, but, uh, to answer you fir-

Jensen: I’m sorry?
Fan: (off mic) If you’d been the same age.
Jensen: If we’d been the same age?

New Enhanced Edition - LACON 2008 - Jensen's Solo Panel
youtube
Direct link to video. Link to YouTube channel. (26 videos available.)
My newest video is up, Jensen's solo panel at LACON in March 2008. Jared's also at the very beginning and very end. This is a short video at under 20 minutes, but it has full coverage of the panel.
At about the 07:30 mark, the video quality will improve quite a bit (see the first set of comparison images below) with much thanks to the video that Candygramme recorded and shared with me. Her video is not on YouTube to the best of my knowledge, so you might not have seen it unless you saw the file share links back in the day. Her video includes almost two minutes' worth of footage near the end that I haven't seen in any other videos currently available.
As I mentioned in a recent post, I've changed the color of Jared's subtitles to a somewhat lighter shade of red thanks to feedback from a viewer who let me know the original red was difficult to read on some platforms. You'll see the new color in a few subtitles at the beginning and end of this video. I've also gone back and updated the subtitle file in my previous video, Jared's solo panel, to use the new color. If people don't hate it, I'll be using this going forward and I'll eventually update the subtitles for all my previous videos to use the new color. So if you do hate it, let me know.
What's Next?
My next video will be the Main J2 panel that follows immediately after this video. I have coverage of the full panel. It will be about 32 minutes. I've had some work-related chaos going on throughout July, and there will probably be more in August, so I expect to be slower on my turnaround time for this video. I'm really looking forward to sharing it though, because it's a fun video and Candygramme's footage makes it so much better.
Before/After Comparison Photos
The quality will vary throughout the video, but you'll start to see some really nice quality like in the first set of images at around 07:30.

Jared's Subtitle Color on my Enhanced Con Videos
Somebody on bsky brought to my attention that Jared's subtitle color can be really difficult to read, especially on platforms like the iPhone where there's a dark gray background added behind the subtitles. That background seems to be determined by the platform/browser, because I tried a variety of settings in my subtitle files and nothing affected them. Whether I had them on or off, opaque or transparent, dark or light, YouTube displayed the same dark gray background on the iPhone whilst the same video had no background at all on my PC's web browsers which is what I usually watch from myself.
So what I've tried to do is lighten up the red quite a bit to make it more readable, hopefully on all platforms. I showed a sample to the person who mentioned it to me and they said this color was easier for them to read. I'm trying to keep it in the red family because I like the symbolism of using Jared's and Jensen's marker colors, red and blue. I already use a much lighter color of blue for Jensen's subtitles for a similar reason -- even I could tell that dark blue was unreadable.
Readability is far more important to me than symbolism, especially after I've put so much work into them, so I'd be willing to make a more drastic change if this shade of red doesn't work out.
This past weekend, I updated the subtitles on the last video I published (Jared's solo LACON 2008 panel) to use the new color. You'll also see the new color very briefly on my next video that's going up this Friday -- Jensen's solo panel. There are a few subtitles for Jared at the very beginning and the very end of that video.
If people like the new color (or at least if nobody tells me they hate it), then I'll use it going forward and I'll also go back and update the subtitle files for my older videos as I find time. I also plan to lighten up the red I use occasionally in the sidebar (for spoiler alerts or when I'm quoting Jared/Sam), but the sidebar is part of the video itself and I can't change that on already-published videos. I'll do it going forward, though.
Here's a link to my previously-published video of Jared's panel if you'd like to check out the new color.
youtube
(Sorry if anybody has noticed the dead silence from my corner of the internet over the past few weeks. I'm not normally very active on social media anyway, so most people probably won't notice the difference, but I'm not usually this absent. I spent the last two weeks on an exhausting business trip and I've also been going through some general work-related hell this month.)

New Enhanced Edition - LACON 2008 - Jared's Solo Panel
youtube
Direct link to video. Link to YouTube channel. (25 videos available.)
Here's my newest video, Jared's solo panel at LACON in March 2008. (Jensen also shows up at the very end.) The video quality isn't the best and I couldn't upscale it, but it's at least better than most of the breakfast footage was. This audio is also much easier to understand.
Footage Gaps
Unfortunately Jared's panel has a LOT of gaps. There were about 21.5 minutes' worth of available footage. The vast majority of it came from the source in my example images below. Thank goodness for them, because otherwise we would have had very little content from this panel!
One helpful thing is that there were also a lot of fan reports, some of which were quite detailed. Fan reports aren't usually a very reliable source because of faulty ears and memories and biases, but having several reports meant that I could compare the answers each one reported on and pick out the common elements between them to get a likely truth. I also compared their reports against the answers we did have footage for so that I could see which reports were the most accurate and which ones had a tendency to embellish.
I took that information and, for the larger gaps, created single-screen slides summarizing what was missed during the footage gaps along with some related images. For the shorter gaps, I put a quick blurb in the sidebar warning of an upcoming gap and explaining what was missed. I had some trouble deciding how best to handle the larger gaps. I know some people will just want to focus on the video itself and not read a page of notes, whereas other people (like me!) may want all the details possible.
I tried to find a compromise by putting these screens up for only 30 seconds each. That may not be enough time in some cases, but there's a countdown timer at the bottom of the screen showing how much time is left before the video resumes. My hope is that people who want more time can pause the video and take as much time as they need, whereas the people who don't want to read it can fast forward a bit. I'm sure I'll find myself in a similar situation again someday while working on other videos, so I'm definitely open for suggestions if you can think of a way I could improve that format.
What's Next?
My next video will be Jensen's solo panel which took place immediately after Jared's. I have complete footage for that panel, but it was very short at a little under 20 minutes.
The combined J2 panel will be next after that, and I have full coverage for that one too at about 32 minutes.
As I mentioned in a previous post, the second half of Jensen's video and all of the J2 video will have some very nice coverage from Candygramme which I do not believe is available on YouTube. Newer fans or fans who didn't see the file share links back in the day may not have seen it.

Hi!
I absolutely love your work! The historian in me has absolute admiration for you!
I have a question though! I came across this Instagram clip and two things came to mind: 1) when did this happen? Judging by Jared's haircut, it looks to be about the first three seasons of Supernatural; and 3) why is it the "famous" hug?
Thank you!
Link to clip: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLLPPDhSHVf/
Hi, thanks so much! 💗
If there's anything I can guarantee I'll recognize, it's that clip because it was from the very first panel that I ever made an enhanced video for. That hug is also the one in my tiny profile photo, although people probably can't really see it. It happened at the breakfast panel at the Chicago convention in November 2007. So you're right, it's from season 3. They were in the middle of filming Jus in Bello at the time.
As for why it's "famous"? I wasn't in the fandom back then, so I can only guess. I didn't start my descent down this rabbit hole until 2022, so I've missed a lot. My guess is because it was one of the first hugs between the two of them that fans saw in person at a convention.
There was a hug at Paleyfest in 2006 also, although not on stage, and I think a few at press events, but this was captured in photos and videos by fans who were actually there and who shared it with their fellow fans online. Aside from Paleyfest, which arguably might not be considered a "convention", Chicago 2007 was the first convention that they attended together. So I think the rarity and newness of it for fans at the time probably helped make it a pretty big deal within the fandom. That's just my speculation, though. If my guess is wrong, maybe someone else who knows more can chime in.
If you'd like to see it with a little more context to understand why Jared is even talking about wearing pink, below is a link to my enhanced version of the video. (The video thumbnail is from one of the frames with the hug.) I have the link set to start just a little bit earlier than the Instagram clip does, and you can back up even further if you'd like more context because the whole panel is here.
Also, there's a funny moment even earlier in that video where Jared wipes his sweaty head off on Jensen's shirt sleeve. Go back to around 06:50 to see that part. The whole video is a lot of fun, but I thought those were two of the funniest moments.

Any movie aficionados have any guesses on this one? (Subtitling help request.)
Edit: With huge thanks to @arwenadreamer and @sensitivehandsomeactionman, the mystery has been solved... Good Will Hunting!
Original Post:
I'm teetering on the border of just letting this one go because I don't think the context is very critical to understand Jared's point, but I thought I'd check here before I gave up!
I can't figure out the movie(?) he says after Lawrence of Arabia. This video was recorded in March 2008 at LACON so it has to have been something known by then. He implies that he's referring to "great movies and classic movies", so I don't think it's an obscure example, I'm just not much of a movie watcher.
Things I've considered but couldn't convince myself made sense:
The Wanting (This is what it sounded like the most to my ears, but in the context of "great movies and classic movies", I couldn't find anything that seemed relevant.)
The Haunting (This might fit the context better, but I can't convince myself he's saying Haunting because I think there's definitely a 'wa' sound in there like in "won" or "one". Unless he stumbled over the word and accidentally reversed the vowel sounds, pronouncing it huanting? Which actually does sound a lot like what he's saying.)
"the one thing" (This was a grasping-at-straws interpretation, but it doesn't really sound like that to me. My theory behind this was that maybe he only listed one specific movie and then changed to being non-specific such as "I can say this thing or that thing or the one thing or the other thing".)
It might also be in another language, or a name more common in other countries? I tried looking for titles with "Juan" for example.
I also read long lists of two-word movie titles starting with "The"... after which point I decided I'd probably put more effort into this than it really warrants. 😂 And maybe the first syllable isn't even actually "The", but that's all I can hear.
If the consensus is that he probably just misspoke the word "haunting" or something like that, I'll just leave it as [inaudible] and not put anything in the sidebar for it since I don't feel like we can be very confident. But I thought maybe there's something I'm missing due to lack of knowledge that would seem obvious to someone else and would make everything make sense. It wouldn't be the first time!
Whether you have some miraculous answer or just quietly listen and shake your head in perplexed commiseration, I appreciate you all for letting me occasionally drag you into my subtitling madness. 💗💙 (On the bright side, the audio for this panel was actually pretty good and most of it has been easy to subtitle. It was a breath of fresh air after that breakfast video!)

Moose's Market
I just realized for the first time that there's a typo on his apron. (Photo found here; no idea on original source. This photo is everywhere.)
So I fixed it.
(Yes, I know I can't possibly be the first person to notice this or do this, and others have probably done it way better, but humor me. I've only been hanging out on the edge of fandom circles since late 2023. I've missed a lot!)
