mark yesterworld listed off like fifty disney original movies to please the "but what about" crowd in the comments AND YET he still did not mention my personal two favorite disney channel original movies, tower of terror, the ORIGINAL "based on the theme park ride" film and escape to witch mountain, which I scanned the tv guide for CONSTANTLY in the hopes of seeing again and only very rarely (I haven't seen it in literal decades but I was obsessed with the twin powers as a kid) (it's actually a remake of a 1975 movie apparently, which I should look up sometime) (I'm also pretty sure there was a theatrical remake? am I making that up? the rock was in it?)
#brinn watches yesterworld#man I have such fond memories of the disney channel teen girl programming of the 90s and 00s#i was SO obsessed with lizzie mcguire#okay yes technically tower of terror isn't a disney channel original movie as it aired on abc#BUT STILL#i did watch a shit ton of the movies he did list though#up until circa camp rock probably?#I think by then I had transitioned to a lot of food network and svu

i love a good gossip blog when it’s harmless gossip but it annoys me when they start to get mean, especially to the wags (because who cares who’s dating ur fave player) and like harmful stuff
I will say tho I love it when wags fight back😭like that blog being so obsessed over alex wearing the same dress twice and then alex posting a tiktok with “lizzy mcguire, you’re an outfit repeater!” is iconic

The idea to draw Marik and Bakura as Lizzie and Isabella from the Lizzie Mcguire movie came to me in a dream and I had to do it. I decided very quickly that I didn't want to fully render this so enjoy this goofy three hour doodle from the back corner of my brain! I have no idea if there's any crossover between the ygo fandom and people that grew up obsessed with this movie, but it made ME happy and that's enough :')
#thiefshipping#ygo#marik ishtar#malik ishtar#yami bakura#bakura#I've DEFINITELY never posted something this rough before but like#I realized early early on that I did not have the time or energy to actually invest into this so a doodle is all I have

Nine people I’d like to know better (Tag Game)
tagged by @rockinlibrarian
One-sentence byline: Short story writer specializing in speculative flash fiction, but who also has a sapphic romantic drama for the ace girlies who like the idea of falling in love with a friend.
Last song: Ceilings by Lizzy McAlphine. I can tell you nothing about it. I just had Spotify's 'Fresh Finds Class of 2023' playlist going while I worked.
Favourite colour: Blue! I don't have a specific shade, but a chunk of my condo I painted different hues of it, including a mural in my bedroom that's an ombre sea thing
Currently watching: Only Murders in the Building. I'm two nights into watching it and am already on S2E2. Pls send help.
Last movie/tv show: Barbie! Recently rewatched with my father, who then brought it up as a conversation topic around the Thanksgiving table. He and I have...different views of it and for the past two weeks I keep replying some of our conversations and wish I had asked if what really pissed him off was the fact that the 'dumb blonde' character wasn't a woman.
Spicy/savoury/sweet: It used to be sweet, but as I've gotten older I've leaned more into savory items.
Relationship status: Single. Maybe happily so. (Ace and probably some form of aro but haven't dug too deep)
Current obsession: Middlegame. I feel in love with McGuire's work when I first read Every Heart A Doorway for my ace bookclub, to the point where I then bought everything my local bookshop had by her. Or at least a representation of every series. Middlegame has been on my radar for awhile, but picked it up for a spooky October read that I'm....still reading.
Last thing you googled: Like, needed to google? Definitions for acronyms I use at work. OEM, MAU. Fun googles? Potential problems surrounding blood transfusions for my NaNo original work, A Shelter for Witch Familiars. There were....a lot more murders in that book that I expected.
Tagging: @redstorm23 @notquitebilateral @chris-in-eugene @nightingalesighs @aprilraine @averyconfusedhuman @xirkanos @diesel-park @wigglyparty

Anytime I think of Ross I just see gorgeous European holiday in the sun
somewhere deep in the trenches of this blog i've written about him proposing on the amalfi coast - i am OBSESSED with the thought of going on a little italian getaway with him. and given that he's supposedly good with history, let's talk about going to rome with ross, wandering around looking at the trevi fountain and st peter's basilica and castel sant'angelo and the colosseum; you turn to ross when you're touring the latter to be like "this is so cool because of the history and all, but frankly i'm mostly excited about being here because of the lizzie mcguire movie lol", and he rolls his eyes and calls you daft but giggles and smiles at you like you hung the moon (and then he kisses you quickly, probably to stop you bursting into a rendition of what dreams are made of lmaoooo). and you spend some time in museums and galleries too - ross posts a very pinterest-y pic of you looking at some art to insta and unironically captions it "she thought the art was pretty but i think she's prettier" - but most of your days are spent walking around in the sun, drinking espresso and eating gelato, just looking at the architecture and taking as much in as you can. and then it's back to the hotel for a rest (although spooning on such a comfy bed with your man never really ends up in sleep, if you know what i mean...) before getting ready and going back out for pasta and wine under candlelight; the nights tend to end with both of you nearing tipsiness as you walk back to the hotel, ross inevitably scooping you up and carrying you when your heels start to falter on the cobblestones. it's relaxed, and oh so romantic - just perfect, really <3

⭐️ get to know me ask game ⭐️
Thank you @bejeweledbaby for the tag!!
Last song: Nothing/ Sad N Stuff by Lizzy McAlpin. I used to listen to this song so much before I moved to uni and it helped me figure stuff out and I just found it again. I did get a little emotional listening to it on the train :,)
Favourite colour: orange! The feelings I have for orange are unimaginable like I’m not being funny when I say I think I could talk for a solid ten minutes about how it all the different shades make me feel (maybe that’s a bit weird)
Currently reading: too many fan fictions? Uh I’ve been ‘reading’ all come tumbling down by seanan McGuire but by reading I mean it’s been sat on my bedside draws for a few weeks
Last movie: Red, White and Royal Blue! I feel like I’ve been waiting for this movie for so long and the film did not disappoint! I adored it!
Sweet/spicy/ savoury: I do have a big sweet tooth but also savoury snacks are so good but ultimately I’ll pick sweet.
Relationship Staus: single! I go through waves of how I feel about being single. I’ve never been in a relationship and sometimes I wish I could feel that closeness but I also just very rarely get crushes on people, especially realistic relationship options lol (cue another ‘am I asexual?’ crisis). But overall I’m happy single and just building friendships!
Current obsession: uh idk Chappell Roan has been one of my recent obsessions. Her music is so good and I can’t wait for her album! Also Red, White and Royal Blue
Last thing googled: if I could take chocolate in hand luggage back to the uk lol
Currently working on: myself 🧡
Tagging (no pressure): @struubrry @unclewaynemunson @unrepentant-byler-shipper @tr4nsvesdyke

I got a confession. I’m OBSESSED with the Zombies movies on Disney+. 😭 Why are they so good? The songs are catchy. The acting is blah, of course, but it’s that classic Disney channel movie acting that hits different. 🤌🏻
Like, Zenon, Lizzie McGuire Movie, Pixel Perfect, Thirteenth Year, Luck of the Irish, etc etc. 😂
Anywho, the edible be hittin’.

Favorite shows from your childhood?
Ohhhh anon you have asked maybe my favorite question ever! Alright, here's a list:
Hey Arnold. This show will always be top of the list. It's *STILL* my favorite. I fucking love this show, and I'm *still* proud of us for getting TJM. Go us!
As Told By Ginger. Underrated show for upper elementary/middle and even beginning high school. Definitely 80% of the reason why I gave good advice as a tween/teen. Parts of it are painfully cringey, but so was I back then lol.
Lizzie McGuire. I was primarily a Disney Channel kid, and I was *obsessed* with Hilary Duff as a singer and an actress. That show had some damn good messages, was funny as hell, and the fashions were iconic. Yes, Lizzie made me want a hair crimper, and no, I never got one.
Kim Possible. Kim was everything I dreamed I would be in high school. I wasn't, but it was a nice childhood aspiration lol. Also just a damn good show. I still sing music from it over two decades later, because the naked mole rap and say the word are FIRE songs, and I won't hear anything to the contrary.
Zaboomafoo. Yes, I was also a PBS kid lol welcome to being homeschooled in a fundie christian family - if it's not educational in some way or on Disney Channel, it's probably banned. Zaboomafoo is the reason everyone thought I was a gifted kid at five years old. I wasn't gifted, spoiler alert. I was a massive fucking nerd with ADHD who absorbed information related to her hyperfixations like a sponge. Information I didn't care about? Might as well nail jello to the wall.
One Saturday Morning, aka Doug, Recess, House of Mouse, etc. Weekend classics.
Saturday morning part 2: obscure boogaloo. Cake TV, Horseland, Winx, Bratz, The Slumber Party Girls/4KidzTV, etc. I would alternate between these and OSM, but Bratz was a special treat because it was banned at my house, so I only got to watch it at my best friend's house.
Noddy Shop. Also on PBS, basically Toy Story but better.
Chalkzone. I was an artsy kid, chalkzone was basically my ultimate dream.
Rocket Power. Had a special place in my heart because I loved it, my dad loved it, and my mom hated it. But dad said I could watch it, so mom couldn't tell me no. Dad was often on my side when it came to my hyper-sheltering, and was the reason my childhood wasn't even more sheltered/restricted/oppressed than it already was. Rocket Power also had a girl who was a total tomboy, and I LOVED Reggie. Yes I was a baby gay, we don't need to call me out lmao.
I could honestly go on. I honestly watched a lot of TV as a kid, because with a five year gap between my sibling and I (and them being the last person on earth I wanted to do anything with), I spent most of my time either watching TV, reading, or playing some kind of imaginative game with my barbies/polly pockets or just a stick I found in the yard lol.

Just a woman who is all about God, boybands, coffee, and the 90’s. Kindness is cool. I am not perfect with the internet, so please forgive me.
I am OBSESSED with *NSYNC, my favorite band ever (and forever!), and collect their 90s-00s memorabilia. I have a doll collection that I love and care for daily. Music is my favorite thing ever. I am also a major fan of Backstreet Boys, Lizzie McGuire, CDs, & so much more from our beloved decade.

So, I was tagged in a "Top 10 Favorite TV shows" post a little while back, and I've sadly lost it (even though I really wanted to do it!):( And thank you to who tagged me in the post. I think it was @i-love-books-because-reasons? If I ever find the post again, I'll reblog it properly. But for now, I'll just answer it this way. (For some reason, I've decided not to included animes or cartoons, because no one did in their lists. Maybe that will be its own list. Or "younger shows," like Disney channel ones. But if I did, Lizzie McGuire would have made it:))
Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Series (though I'll be listing them separately) - have become my favorite shows of all-time (though they're also slightly tied with Dark Angel). They're just... so good and perfect, with such good writing and themes, and I could analyze and obsess over them for hours (and have), so of course they're here.
2. Angel the Series (mentioned above). - Though it and Buffy aren't exactly like. They're definitely their own shows and I love them both for different reasons.
3. Dark Angel season 1 - I just really latched onto Dark Angel, and have never been able to let it go... which is funny, because I didn't like it that much in the first few episodes: probably because they really went over my head as a kid. -shrugs- But I love my reluctant, badass heroine Max and how she grows. Speaking of Max? Love of my life. The love story between her and Logan is still one of the best written in all of TV to me. And the relationship between Max and her "siblings"--and just learning about this poor girl created in a lab, who had never even been in a house before when she was nine and things like that--has always spoken to me. The "fight the man" and "protect the downtrodden" plot is also great.
4. Tru Calling - It's thanks to my sister that I discovered this awesome show, and Eliza Dushku. The premise is just so wonderful: Tru having the ability to relive days and save people who died before their time. And whenever the show threw a wrench into the usual formula was fun. Particularly when Jack showed up, who was the opposite of Tru: trying to stop her actions, because he thought she was messing with the natural order of things and there would be disastrous consequences to it. The show was really finding its footing when it was canceled. And what the writers released of their plans for what they were going to do next? I cry that we didn't get to see that. But alas.
Smallville - Baby's first show for teens and up:) I have so many fond memories of discovering Smallville... and rewatching the episodes again and again with friends, and between new seasons. Also, watching new episodes when they aired. I feel like the idea of Smallville was great: tell the story of Superboy growing up on a TV show. It worked so well: and made so many people connect with Clark Kent/Superman, who otherwise might have trouble with it. It developed him and his relationships so well... and we won't talk about how well Lex Luthor was also developed (and played by Michael Rosenbaum): the best part of the show to many people. And how genius it was to have them start out the show as friends only to become the enemies they were fated to be. -sobs- Also, as it's been said, we wouldn't have the Arrowverse if Smallville hadn't come first. So credit where credit is due. And speaking of that, this was the time before the MCU and that sort of thing. So seeing hero cameos on this show was so shocking, new, and the best.
Alias - The first badass female heroine I ever saw on live-action TV--and fell in love with--was Sydney Bristow (aside from Xena: Warrior Princess, that I don't remember that well, because I was, like, five when I was watching Xena). Also my introduction to the wacky world of J.J. Abrams' writing. And as wacky as J.J. Abrams can get, and we all know it, I think he did a good job with Alias, and was pretty nuanced and tame here. There was just enough of his Mystery Box stuff to keep me intrigued, in this interesting spy story that I loved. And Sydney Bristow is seriously the greatest, and deserves the world. And Alias actually has one of the few TV endings that I actually like, for the most part.
Kyle XY - Another show similar to Dark Angel, in that it's about a human made in a lab (though that's a mystery for most of S1). And I really liked this show--and its main family the Tragers. Definitely one of the best things ABC Family ever did... and I'll forever be angry that it ended on a cliffhanger.
Roswell - A TV show about what if aliens did crash in Roswell, and lived among us as half-aliens, half-humans. This show is definitely largely a romance, but there's definitely more to it than just that: with some battles with other aliens, the aliens trying to get home, and stay alive from the government trying to kill them, etc. Maily it's the characters and their various relationships that make this show so great. It's certainly a product of its time, early 90's WB, but I'm nostalgic for it and love it too much. And we wouldn't have a number of shows we do today without it. Liz and Maria also have one of the best female friendships of all time. And this show is another one where I actually like the ending.
The Chosen - A TV show that tells what Jesus' ministry was like through the disciples' PoV. And I can't explain just how well made this show is. Seriously. People who aren't even religious watch it and love it. People have compared its quality to Game of Thrones... err, in a good way (I know that can be considered an insult now, after S8). This is what all Christian media should always attempt to be.
Bonus:
Dollhouse - The idea of this show is really neat (with people who have their memories and personalities wiped, and someone else's placed into them, when they're "bought" to live out someone's fantasy), but also hella problematic... though, granted, it's sort of problematic on purpose to draw attention to these problems in real life, but still. This show also becomes completely different by the end, than how it started out (I actually love this plot twist, and won't spoil it for those who don't know). But sadly, it didn't have too much to delve into this twist before it was canceled. But I do still love this show for what it did, and all the potential it had.
Game of Thrones - I loved this show so much, originally. As most people did. But then it really started going downhill when it ran out of books to adapt. Even before that, though, you could kind of see the cracks, with how they changed Daenerys so much... Or how they changed Robb Stark's marriage plot line from being about honor (like how Ned died) to love, etc. But even so, we still (mostly) have a few really good seasons, at least.
#long post#tv shows#shanna's tv shows#there are probably some other ones i could have mentioned like once upon a time or supernatural... but i really started disliking them and#stopped watching and moreso like them at the start or in a 'i can fix them' kind of way. so that's why they don't make my top 10 i guess#i do like gossip girl... but that show also starts annoying me (and technically i haven't finished it yet) so it would probably be unfair t#list it. and i don't think i like it more than other ones on this list actually. i do like it though#i also didn't get into buffy and angel much here (maybe i should have) because i never shut up about them on my blog#so i feel like people already know about them because of that who know me. but maybe i should have. oh well#also... you gotta love how four of my favorite shows have eliza dushku in them. but i'm so not complaining. lol#oh! nbc's chuck was supposed to be on this list as a bonus but i accidentally deleted it. oops#once upon a time in wonderland and boy meets world would also be good bonuses#syfy alice (2009) would potentially be on here if i didn't see it more of a movie and if it wasn't SUCH a short mini-series. but it is grea#lost is another show with supernatural and ouat with me that i really liked at first but oh did it do things#for me i think the good still outweighs the bad with the characters and their development despite the bad ending and so many plot threads#being meaningless but i also completely understand when others feel the opposite way
