In other news…. Fic idea that I’m absolutely not going to write. If you want it, it’s yours, just tag me when it’s done 🖤
************
Instead of becoming famous with Corroded Coffin, Eddie becomes one of the first MTV VJ’s. He focused mostly on metal ranting about his favorite groups on Headbangers Ball, getting to meet and interview some of the people he’s spent his whole life looking up to. Back then everyone was hyping everything because they just wanted MTV to succeed, so when he got assigned to interview Steve Harrington, who was as pop as they come, he took the gig and figured he could have some fun needling him for being so square.
Except Steve gives as good as he gets, and the two end up bantering their way through the interview. Just before it ends Eddie gives Steve the go ahead to say something to all his female fans, give them a virtual taste of the Harrington charm, figuring that Steve would say something cheesy into the camera and they’d sign off.
Except Steve turns his full attention right to Eddie, like he’s the person he’s trying to charm and Eddie couldn’t even tell you what Steve said says because he’s locked in on the way Steve’s eyes are flicking down to his mouth while he talks and then everything comes into sharp relief when Steve holds the mic to the side and leans in close to whisper “female fans are nice, but I’d rather go home with you.” Before winking at Eddie, waving to the camera and walking off stage.

Tonight's plan: Finish this episode of The Big Door Prize, give the dog her meds, and spend the rest of the evening watching 90s music videos to make sure the video (and not just the song) is worth submitting to @the-90s-music-colosseum
First two on the list: Poison by Alice in Chains and then Poison by Bell Biv DeVoe (I'll have to check the release date on that first one, it's 90s to me but was it actually released in the 80s?)

43 years ago today (August 1, 1981), MTV was launched on TV
Fun fact: The first music video that aired on MTV was the video for the song "Video Killed The Radio Star" by The Buggles
Here's to 43 more years of saying, "I want my MTV!"
